SF # 4 Impressions Thread (As usual, Spoilers)

Damn. That's all I can say. Damn. This issue was amazing. It wasn't just the artwork, or the Chun vs. Shadow fight. It was the attention to DETAIL! When Eliza called Guile her "Brother-in-law", I realized the extent of research Udon must have done for this series. Dan was GREAT! Getting the shit beat out of him by SAKURA! Before she even began training! That was too good. It will be interesting to see what happens with Cammy now... And Sagat in a trenchcoat was too cool. The backup story was the best since issue 1. Keep up the good work, guys. I'll be waiting to see what happens next issue.

the backup was really cool too.
i am confused about what happen to cammy. when did she get caught? i assume she failed a mission cuz, bison said he would kill her and charlie.
the only thing i didnt like was how shadow talked like a robot.

i think you misunderstood bison meant he was going to kill both charlie and ryu himself since cammy was nowhere to be found.

They Screwed up what are you all talking about yes it was a great issue but since when was Dan a shotokan marshal artist ... HE'S Saikyo the strongest marshal arts and Dan doesn't fight that bad.


PS yes he did train under a Shotokan master but he left and then made his own style of fighting......

Hey, I got #4 and I really liked it!

I especially liked the back up story with Guile being saved. It's always great how the back up stories are tying in with the regular stories.

I don't much care about Dan, so I thought that was some funny comic relief, but maybe a little over the top to be beat up by an untrained girl?

I like the Sagat Cover...my favorite so far.

I mainly know streetfighter from the DVDs, streetfighter animated movie, V series, american cartoons, Alpha Movie, etc.

I think the most shocking things that I found out were that Cammy is a clone of Bison and that Bison dies? It says that Bison may not be dead or may return, and I hope that's the case, because he's my favorite Streetfighter character.

Could someone fill me in with this business about dolls?? What are they, where do they fit in?

Oh wait, those sound like another comic. A comic based on a game with parts based on a manga based on the same game. My head hurts.

Edit: By the way, I'm not criticizing the book; I love it. It's just weird how this worked out.

Anyway, I still don't understand how Cammy ended up in Rose's possession but hopefully it will be explained in a backup story or something.

I looked around and they mentioned dolls fighting and Cammy and Rose, but didn't really tell where the dolls came from?

Also, Tiamat's FAQ seems to be cut-off at the end. It looks like an alphabetical character bio but stops after Balrog...

A new shocking thing is that the FAQ says that NONE of the anime stuff is cannon? That's not only shocking, but dissappointing, since the anime is mainly what I know and LIKE about Streetfighter?!

But, the SF comic is enjoyable and I recognize all the characters and the story is still similar even if they say the anime is not canon.

Oh, gamefaqs is kinda wonky regarding big files (or perhaps it's just the guide. Dunno) and cuts it off for some reason. Deleting your temporary internet files then refreshing the page usually (but not always) fixes it. But that can be very very annoying.

It seems to load fine at Siegfried's Fighter Mania, though. Try there if it gets cut off at gamefaqs.

I liked issue #4. The great thing about the SF books is that they get better and better with each issue.

I especially like how the hospital scene ties together a lot of loose ends: Guile & Eliza "catch up", Sakura gets a little closer to Ryu, and the origin of Mel Masters begins. However, will Mel get born during SFII or after? Will Eliza be pregnant in Udon's version of Ken's ending?

Plus, Nash vs. Chun Li: Too good! Especially the Sonic Boom/Somersault Kick trap.

BTW: Second on the Balrog request. I especially want to see a back up for him on how he came up through the ghetto, rises to stardom and then falls (just like Mike Tyson! Life imitates art?) with Bison ready to "catch" him.

Also, I always thought Rose would be some kind of maternal figure to Cammy. I mean if you look at Cammy's SSF2 portrait and Rose's SFA portrait, the similarity is uncanny. Besides, Udon has to get Cammy into her SFII outfit by issue #7...

I think what happened was that Cammy has yet to return from her last mission and all communication with her ceased. Vega/M. Bison wanted to send Cammy out to terminate Shadow, Chun Li, and Guile, but since she is not around he will have to do it himself.

I enjoyed issue 4. Loved the back up story and I thought the opening fight sequence was very well done. All of Chun Li's and Nash's moves were pencilled beautifully and accurately. I guess Eliza will be revealed to be pregnant, but isn't a bit too soon? I always thought Mel was born after SF2.

I digged Rose as a maternal figure to Cammy as well...it was weird having the fight right at the begining like that though. I wanted another fight scene, like in the old Tokuma SFII comics, where there was fighting all the time, and basically nothing else.

I dislike the whole "all honkeys are related" thing with Guile being Eliza's brother-in-law, but I like how characters are sort of being tied together, like how Sakura stumbled into finding out about Ryu.

Anyway, Sagat > or = Ryu. Ryu pulled that win in SF1 out of his ass (even though he's more gifted than lucky), so it'll be interesting to see how the fight scene goes next issue, assuming there is one.

Guile's daughter is Amy/Chris, and his wife is Jane/Julia. Two names are given for each because
their names are different in the American and Japanese versions of Street Fighter, respectively. Guile
has a pet dog named Safu, too. An interesting note is that Jane/Julia is Eliza's sister. This means
that after SF2 when Ken married Eliza, Guile and Ken became brothers-in-law. Er... well, that's what is
stated, at least, although technically, someone's wife being a sister to someone else's wife doesn't
make those two brothers-in-law by the strictest definition of the term. Storylinewise, Guile and Ken
prefer not to talk about it though because Guile doesn't like Ken since Ken is so brash and playboy-ish.
If you're one of those people that isn't willing to believe this, then that's okay. It's another small
fact that I'm really not willing to debate, and I can't prove it unless you read Japanese and have the
book, All About Capcom, anyway. Basically, all I have to back this up is that it was officially stated
and you'll have to take my word for that. Oh yea, Street Fighter Eternal has this relation in its
character relation flowchart, too, despite missing a whole bunch of other relations.

Shadowloo scientists were finally able to construct a new body for Bison, which his soul was able to
migrate to. Course, then Akuma in SF2 sent Bison's soul to hell via the Shun Goku Satsu and Rose's went
along with it [Official]. ....that's a terrible way for a character to go, IMHO O_o


Bison and Rose share the same soul. Actually, they ARE the same soul. The reason Bison is so 'hes
evil' is because Rose is supposed to be the good side who somewhere along the line split off from him
without him realizing it as he got more and more into the negative energy powers of psycho power. Thing
is, Bison really was never a very nice guy in the first place so when Rose came along, she was more
morally apathetic than good, but she still had the whole "Kill Bison!" thing going on. She didn't
realize it all her life until Alpha when she finally began to hear about and meet Bison though. That's
also why Bison's older than Rose (Bison is probably at least 45 years old. He killed T Hawk's father 30
years before SFA3 Oo). Basically, if Bison got Psycho Power around then which he probably did to kill
T Hawk's father, Rose would be around 25 to 35 or so which seems about right. In Rose's SFA3 ending as
well as that Freudian official art where Bison's holding her, that's actually supposed to represent
Bison finally taking over her mind and merging with her again or something. Or at least planting the
seeds for it. Basically, after Charlie finally killed Bison by blowing up the psycho drives... well,
Bison's soul had to go SOMEWHERE while Shadowloo scientists constructed him a new body for SF2...

That artwork is from SFA2 (or possibly earlier, but probably not). It does not imply that Rose and Bison shared the same body. Thus, the best inference that could be made from the picture would be that Rose had defeated Bison, as she thought she had done in her SFA2 ending.

How Bison and Rose have the same soul is sort of unexplainable. It's just one of those weird cosmic things. Like the opposite of a "soul mate," in the romantic way.

What's weird is that they don't seem to be able to directly kill each other. Doesn't work for Rose in A1, and even disregarding that ending, she can't get it done in A2, and they both fail at the same time in A3.

The problem with the A3 storyline was that it wasn't created with the intent of SF2 to follow it. A3 is a fan-service game, which is why it had all of the Alpha and SSF2 characters in it. Likewise, in terms of story it was meant to be an ending to the SF2 timeline, and not a compliment. Bison dies in A3. He literally dies in every ending but two. Sometimes twice. That's a hint. And while that doesn't make sense if you're trying to fit all of the SF games together (because then you'd either have to merge A3 and SF2 together, or disregard SF2 entirely and replace it with A3), it does make sense if you look at the SFA games inside their own continuum, or even just as games by themselves.
