Yeah I know there are 2002 videos, but guess what? The way these Japanese players play MvC2 is about the almost the same way as most videos coming out today!! The only huge differences are the lack of traps, and more use of low tier characters :)

but today...... I only got one vid uploaded. I didn't win in this match. And if you'll wonder with my storm especially in the last scene of my match(not connecting LA xx LS) I'm doing a reset and I'm having difficulties on the controls in doing the storm reset.

In my match against AL3X(Cable/Sentinel/Cyclops), i've shown how ANAKARIS beats SENTINEL.............. just check it out.

BTW, my opponent is one of the TOP players here in the Philippines. IMO, he's in my top list.

I still play at Level 2 Damage...(Only if I visit outside the country, or find a rare mvc2 arcade machine with lvl2)and I really wanted it back in our place. I just can't do anything if all of the arcades here and the competition has turned into Level 1 Damage setting.. anyways this game is already old but still fun to play.

Best arcade in the GTA is Orbit entertainment center. It's upstairs at Pacific heritage mall at the corner of Steeles and Kennedy.

As a side note, we just had the T7 tournament. This is the Canadian Nationals.

The subscript was the empire strikes back [as in Empire Arcadia coming up again to take our cash like last year...]. Wound up looking almost like a Justin Wong fundraiser.

oh it's juan, not that it matters. No one really knows me by name. Gabe knows me (again not through name) though because he loses badly to me nowadays XD whereas he used to do pretty good against me, beasting me a couple of times.

well some guy named alvin and I are also using Gabe's teams now, we're like him in other ways too if you catch my drift ;) haha.....PINK teams. Though just incase gabe ever comes by while I'm playing with his team I make sure my char's are green so he can get pink

there's a couple interesting things I think I fund out with anakaris....mayb gabe would be interested. Like a possible linking of two cobra supers together (no assist)

2 cobra blow super is 100% possible... but hard to master at first, and its distance dependent. :sweat: . One of the finest anakaris players I've known just showed it to me last year I think.

I still don't know you, and I ain't lyin. You haven't seen all the matches we've played and he was serious. Many times at Dennis I beat him (he also got pissed and left because I kept killing him) and a coupla times at the HIP. I do have a winning streak against him, don't know how much, but trust me. now you are really sounding like a kissup :P trust me, he does bad nowadays.

Yeah I'm good against him but not others, durr! It doesn't quite work how you think it does. There are these players that beat me, not badly but still. then there are other players I play against more, like Gabe, who destroy the ones who beat me. guess what? I can beat a lot of those player and destroy some of them and gabe too....so yeah, that's how it works.

gabe is used to those guys and stuff.

I know dennis' ain't good for comp, though sometimes it is. HIP is just pretty far for me. Last time I went their sticks were mucho off, didn't help that I can't play on them as well as american parts....

point is, I beat him bad a lot of times the last time we played(which was still a while ago haven't seen him since), I don't think he has one win inbetween. and your idea of who beats who isn't how it works....strengths and weaknesses boy....or girl. I still don't know who u r :rofl:

Doesnt win all the time, but nobody gets long streaks on him. I know how he gets hes mad, and he dont get mad unless you get at least 20 or more wins on him in a row, and that only happens at Nickel City. Now dont say you did that cuz that would just be a lie.

Anakaris is at least on par with a good megaman, but there defnitely arent any here, and just completely owns iceman, I dont even know where to begin on that one. Anakaris has overheads, combos that do 75% damage even on sentinel, and iceman has what? Icebeam? Hes got nothin on Anak.

I have gone so many repetitions to get the pattern but its still hard and haven't found it as of now (bcoz of work, I can't practice much). The challenge is (after launcher ^ combo xx Hyper Combo) your bottom cobra blow(Anakaris has 4 cobras in his super) to be the last to appear, just before the Hyper Combo animation ends (at least a millisecond of time), your bottom cobra blow(s) should hit your opponent, I guarantee that Anakaris can recover quickly and almost no lag after the Hyper Viper Hordes >> and (you're correct) you will follow it with a LP then do another Hyper Cobra Blow..... but the pattern this time will be harder since the opponent is likely to fall quicker.

You can just search for a software on the internet that will convert your anak vid to another format. Whats the format of your vid? WMV? MPEG? Try also using windows movie maker if you have one.

When I said that this player destroyed Gabe, it wasn't like 10 seconds destroying, but destroying in that Gabe could not get a hit on him. Icebeam does terrible tick/hit damage especially to Anakaris. The block stun/hit stun also keep ana. away. a team with bh assist is also hard if not impossible to to get in with ana. if the player has a sense of what he's doing.

You seem to think moves/combos make the game. You should learn a little more about this game before you start shitting out of your mouth. :tdown:

I could lay out the scenario and try and make a recap of it if you want. it seems you don't have enough knowledge to see how anakaris loses that. if he didn't he'd be higher-tier. but he's not and that's one reason why. the proof is in the pudding! (lol)

we had plenty of players like that in here, you just need patience, and also use Son Son AAA as your backup once you get nearer to the opponent. Since Iceman's Air Ice Beam == Free Air Mummy Wrap. Coffin Drop can annoy Megaman also when played right. I don't see much problem against Megaman/Iceman (except he has a very reliable AAA), but thats my opinion.

well that's just it, you're the one "believing"...I'm the one who actuall saw gabe get beat badly. not just against the iceman player, against me too, and others too at the HIP.

you say you got wins on me, like how long ago? I don't even know if I've ever played you. You don't need knowledge to win necessarily. C'mon dude, common sense....

i could explain more but most people don't need me to because they know what I'm talking about, at least other anak. players know.

Gabe's team of anak/son/tron CAN NOT get in.

anak. super jumps...ice beam pushes back

normal jump, same thing

tries going forward, same thing

and his air dash only goes forward, so....same thing. his assists don't reach across the screen and he has no projectile....icemans assist will push anak. back to square one (guile or jin or other anti air). All while taking tick damage. Megaman can do sorta the same thing, but not as well.

Magneto is great you can agree with that, but did you know megaman, a character unanimously agreed not as good, stops magneto very well? OMG but magneto has infinites and high damaging comboes and resets and *GASP* an overhead (copying what you were saying about anakaris) but still has trouble against a megaman who knows what he's doing. it's not about that shit you were talking about, it's about strategy one example being KEEPAWAY.

I don't think you've seen even a moderately good iceman keepaway...do you even know what keepaway is?

a good iceman won't let his air icebeam get mummy wrapped. icemans assists is what makes him very hard for anakaris. even if he is mummy wrapped....it's usually back to square one for anakaris...all the tick damage beats the one mummy wrap.

yeah megaman is not as effective but no mummy drops will hit megaman when he's calling iceman too, which stops anakaris from performing it. the onle way anakaris could perfrom a drop is he would be in the air, but then megaman won't be doing the normal jump .hp, to standing .hp. that's if megaman even lets anakaris in the air.

I'm curious as to how megaman/iceman players play where you live, they don't sound....as good. how do they usually play, at least against you?

see it's not just about iceman or megaman, but also about they're assists. they are more integral than usual.

have you played a good cable/doom/bh or other teams similar to that? VERY hard for anak. to get in if not IMPOSSIBLE.

well the thing is, you use many different anakaris teams. gabe only really uses like two. and they just can't get in. your teams could with a little less trouble I'm sure. But still.

I would say that you don't have the problem but gabe does...but you haven't quite played this player. air ice beam is RARELY used. and anakaris doesn't want to go in the air unless he wants to eat a guile anti air or ground .hp ice beam. guile knocks back sonson while iceman normal jumps back icebeam.

air or horizontal ice beams are abused in our place, we have plenty of annoying Icemans/Guile here, but I think its just that Iceman's are very predictable than those of God Tiers because Iceman has very limited moves. Anakaris also can get closer to Iceman just by eating Guile's AAA or Iceman Diagonal Icebeam(BLOCKED) then push block and Air Dash, simple as that.

a good iceman won't let his air icebeam get mummy wrapped. icemans assists is what makes him very hard for anakaris. even if he is mummy wrapped....it's usually back to square one for anakaris...all the tick damage beats the one mummy wrap.

If you will observe, Iceman is falling slowly if he's in state of "Air Ice Beam", Anakaris can easily distance and catch a mummy wrap (More like of a prediction), unlike Magneto or Storm, iceman can't Air Dash to 8 Directions in the air. I dunno but its an Anak skill to use mummy wrap effectively.

yeah megaman is not as effective but no mummy drops will hit megaman when he's calling iceman too, which stops anakaris from performing it. the onle way anakaris could perfrom a drop is he would be in the air, but then megaman won't be doing the normal jump .hp, to standing .hp. that's if megaman even lets anakaris in the air.

you forgot something about anak, anak can catch megaman's air HP in superjump mode (Blocked + Push Block) afterwards, megaman is falling already, and Anak is still in the Air and can Coffin Drop to Megaman, preventing Megaman to do Superjum again, the Anakaris player should play Coffin Drops effectively. The only problem I see against Megaman (or the harder way for Anak) is if he has Blackheart or a very good AAA with Vertical Range like Commando, Blackheart, Cyclops or even Storms' Vertical Wind.


I'm curious as to how megaman/iceman players play where you live, they don't sound....as good. how do they usually play, at least against you?

Common Iceman Teams in our place are kinda like:

- These are played by different players and they all runaway with me or chip to death. But still I survive, using Son Son as AAA is very helpful to Anak.

see it's not just about iceman or megaman, but also about they're assists. they are more integral than usual.

have you played a good cable/doom/bh or other teams similar to that? VERY hard for anak. to get in if not IMPOSSIBLE.

yap, even before the last 2 years, but Doom are not that helpful today in our arcades since he's predictable now by almost the majority of us. Maybe instead of Son Son, I will use Cyclops as my AAA since Son Son AAA looses 75% to Doom AAA.

well the thing is, you use many different anakaris teams. gabe only really uses like two. and they just can't get in. your teams could with a little less trouble I'm sure. But still.

My primary though is Anakaris/Storm/Son Son... my other teams are just like I replaced my AAA with Psylocke or Cyclops...

Hey for all you Anakaris users, when going for a Cobra Rush super in the conrer (when Anakaris and the opponent are literally hugging the conrer), do u just connect it with a LP xx Cobra Rush SUper, or do you do LP, MK xx Cobra Rush Super.

Ive been experimenting and I ofudn that jsut LP actually connects the Super, I used to use LK, but sometimes it was easier for me to fuk up. Is there any advanytages to using just LP instead of LP, LK to Super? this quesiton mainly goes to The Mummy.

after throwing the opponent to corner, just do a launch and try to delay your Super Jump by 0.1 seconds and moving forward, you'll notice you are now on the corner side, and do s.j. lp , s.j. lk XX Hyper Viper Hordes. 50-75% Damage as result. and the mashing is easier since the mashing only needs "Pattern" style unlike if you cornered the opponent, you need to mash the buttons as fast as you can to obtain 50+ hits...

also for the Pharaoh's Illusion, better do the Diagonal Tapping, I have reached 13 hits with that and its faster than the normal tapping. Its included in one of those Anakaris videos I have watched online.

You can usually get 50-75% damage everytime anyway whether its corner or not, dont know exactly, I just know because Ive seen it numerous times.

i have one question. What is the assist any of you users of anakaris use. I use the Variety Assist ( his coffin assist). I kind of like it, its good for some actual runaways who take to the skies ( doom, storm, psylocke), but I see some videos where they use the mummy wrap assist. If any of you had to rate his assists, which one would you think is the best.


And just on a side note, I dont know if any of you knews this, but in the corner, if you do mummy wrap with your back to the corner initially, instead of doing ulstra fast tap sequence, you wait for a c.LK OTG, then do the tap sequence, and it will connect, becasue after the OTG when going for the tap sqeuence, it enters a chain combo, so it stuns your opponent long enough to connect. Its harder on Sentinel and Juggy tho.

I like anakaris, but also like im. maybe a good team could be anak/im/tron? or doom.

ana/son/tron is NOT low tier. they are mid if not higher. especially the son and tron assist. those are two top tier assists (some of the best in the game) so yeah get right since you like to do all this praising/brownnosing about stuff you don't know. just like one of the best in the midwest and one of j-wongs friends came around here and was whomped by alvin/anthony's anakaris team. him and i and other people who know more about the game know why. that person never faced it before. that's the only reason he lost to alvin for however many times he did.

same case when i beat better players around here with low tier teams somtimes or like when someone whomps a top-tier team with team shoto. or when you pick low tiers who are specifically great against a certain top-tier. the great players never play these teams and don't expect it. that's how they lose sometimes (though some now actually know how to play these teams)

I was impressed when I first saw gabriel play, but then it just died. it's like nothing new anymore and yeah. people just get impressed for the wrong reasons. sorta like you. like a teachers-pet sorta thing.

I like using the pyramid rush in the start of a match, because unless its a storm, mags, or iron man starting first or some other high priority starter, they always block low and wait for you to attack so they can coutner you, and not expecting a overhead in the first 0.5 seconds of the mathc helps in the long run, you can do anythign after, launch, snap out...

I also noticed i was playing with my firend, and he used Iron Man Proton Canon, while I was in range, and jsut befroe he activated it, i threw out a curse ball, and as teh canon killed Anakaris, the puff ball went right through the beam and hit IM. The puff ball can only be cancelled I think if it hits the actual cannon, or maybe not, im not sure, but I know it did go though the beam. that puff ball goes through almost anything.

On a semi related note, Omega Red's Omega Strike also goes through almost anything, I hav kicked away a Spiral sword, kicked Juggy out of his head crush, hit Tron and not tarade hits with her drill attack, and yes, even TRADE hits with Sentinel Plasma Storm Super, and even goes through Hyper Grav and just hits Mags. His Carbonadium Smasher has pretty good priority, it even at one point just "cancelled" out with Chun-Li's giant ball super, and Omega just recovered.

Don't do that(The initial pyramid rush) at all times unless you are sure the opponent doesn't know anak can do that esp. against mags and storm since they can just j.lk, j.mk + AAA. Usually its being used for "snapback > infinites" only.

Also the Anak Puff Ball or the so-called "Anakaris Curse"(this is my username in other boards) has invincible properties against certain elements. Examples are:

- Lightning Storm
- Raimeiken
- Hail Storm
- Proton Cannon
- Magnetic Shockwave (Not sure though but It usually hits magneto)
Not sure though but almost all projectiles can cancel Anakaris' Curse. Any other weird power to be considered as elemental like (Sents' HSF, Morrigan Soul Eraser, etc.) can cancel Anakaris' Curse.

o i know, i never start taht against top tiers, but usually i only do it to a player once or twice max, but it depends on the char. But I mostly use it when after an Air Mummy Wrap, I tag the opponent with sj.HP, then do quick Pyramid Smash, then I will eitrh do antoehr one ,or do cr.LK, cr.HK, then run up and do it again, adding mixups. Sorry if i gave the confusion that I always start my mathces with Pyramid Rush, I usually use it int he mathc though when I have tripped the oppononet.

that overhead is good as a starter if you know the magz or storm is gonna do a cr. lk. and if he calls an assist, snapback inf. ;)

if they are tall enough, nj forward .lp+tron, .mp, overhead is good and then launch or snapback...depending of course

the way I mash for cobra blow is sorta start at hard kick then go counter clockwise. but it's really more important about the positioning...without that you can't get it right, and if you position right....much easier to get many hits...even without mashing a certain way.

All of our MVC2 machines here in Manila (in any mall or arcade) are set to Level 1 Damage (Lowest Damage in the Game) due to the majority of the requests of most players in here last 5 years (2002), so they can play the game longer. There's no way we can revert back to Level 2, else no one will be playing it.. :sad:

there is a vid of me playing anakaris...though I was def. not in control (early in the morning after staying up late the night before during MWC) I was getting to many nj's and fierces instead of the sj's and airdashes they were supposed to be : / and my mind/hands were part jelly
