tight, tight........I, along with some of my other buds are the Lubbock scene.......There's decent comp for MvC2 and CvS2.....3S is catching on(after all my persuading)....most game people play is SCII....bleh...anyways, I'm the GGXX person in Lubbock.....at the arcade, we got CvS:chaos, 3S, and MvC2........yeah, Jaime, let me know when you'll be dropping by..I'm down for some comp, even if I get my ass handed to me...:)

in lubbock, we have 2 arcades...the one in the mall and another one called 50th caboose......one thing you'll learn about lubbock is that is runs rampant with DDR peeps.....I say there's about 5-7 peeps that even play fighting games hardcore....

yeah, dude...we have get togethers all the time...most of the times, they turn into all nighters....we play basically everything....so yeah, you know you won't get bored....

I wouldn't even consider 50th caboose an actual arcade to play at. If you think it is, might as well put Gatti's, Putt-Putt and the movie theaters as actual arcades as well.

Most sticks are supers and the rest are more likely broken. If you plan to play 3S, you might as well try to find someone to play with at their house cuz tilts' 3S sticks sux.

Too bad I'm not in Lubbock anymore. Seems the SF community got in touched over there...how i wished that happened when I was there. No worries though because I'm sharppening my skills back in so cali. If everything goes as planned, I should be back before the summer (the latest is by the Fall semester).

I'll let you guys know when I'm back so that we can get some casual games going on.

ps - by any chance did the tilt get a cvs2 cabinet and did marvel drop its price to a quarter?

Tilt never got a CVS2 cabinet. The only thing new is SVC: Chaos. The only thing that went down a quarter is X-men Vs SF. I introduced the tilt guys to MSH, and one of them is trying to get a cabinet of that. Tilt is kinda stingy, so who knows what our tilt will get.

yes, they are....what's the sad part is the District manager that overlooks our tilt is an asshole.....like when I had my SCII tourny there, we had to switch from console to arcade cuz he didn't think they were making money, even though the entry fees covered that....so many things don't change cuz of that....I wish they get rid of chaos and replace it with something better...a GGXX cabinet would be nice...:D

I'm getting ready to put together a few fighters to put out on location, X-Men Vs and 3rd strike being 2 of the better ones.. I'm not sure which sticks I bought to put in the games, We'll see how it ends up.

I plan on putting them it in one of the 25 inch Dynamo uprights (slant panels) when it goes out on location.

my current choices for fighters are as follows:

WHAT!! Dude where were you when I used to live there? I can't believe levelland has a 3S cabinet there. I haven't been there in bout 2 years. So whats Lan Freaks and where is it close by; Gatti's or something?

It's farther down then gatti's, more towards the school. It's on the east side of College avenue in a strip mall with a Cleaners on one end. There is a nail shop right next door to it.

It's a neat place, the owner is a really cool guy who is all about pc-games. I'm trying to get him into Arcade stuff so if the quarters drop I think I can change his mind and I can put more games in there. We were wanting to put my Cruis'n USA sit down out there this weekend if time permits.

The best game is X-Men Vs Street Fighter, the SuperChase, NBA Jam, Golden Tee, and Lethal Enforcers II are mine as well. All of those are at 25c a game.

No matter what, keep the 4 player Spiderman game there!! I love that game. Keep shinobi, metal slug, XSF. The place just needs to get bigger to add more games. But I always say add another fighting game in there but thats mostly all I play. If you have some old classic games like the 6 player X-men, Willow, Fighting Street and Superman (I'm a Supes fan) please bring them in.

Yeah, I stopped by the mall unexpectedly to play for a sec. I was there for a cousin graduating from Tech. I was gonna post but the person's house i was stying at didn't have a computer b/c they just got rid of it. So I had no access to my PM's or the board. New Arcade in the Lubbock Area.

Go out to Wolforth on Main street. It's called Main street Arcade, opens about every day at 3pm, it's open until around 9pm on weekdays and later on the weekend. It's got a few fighters out there, and I plan on putting a few more out there in the next few weeks.

Go check it out and please offer suggestions/recommendations.

Well I went Friday with a couple of friends and it was pretty nice. Of course I think there should be more games. We just played X-men until we beat it and my other friend played chaos and XVSF too. The snack bar was nice and the pool tables and jukebox. The parking was just i dunno, would be nicer if there was actual a parking space besides parking in front of the place. Other than that the place didn't look too bad and the arcade was dark but I had no complaints.

There will be more games out there soon! I've got to get some better numbers on the games I've got out there right now before I make any changes/additions.

There are plans to change the parking up a bit. I also agree that the parking situation can be messy out there. I hope they finish it up in the next month or two. They also plan on adding batting cages and paintball off to the other side.

I'm glad you made it out there. check back out there from time to time, I hope to put a few other games (possibly a foosball table or something) out there in the comming months.

Well, I have at least heard from about 10 different people that want to play Tekken 5. But theres other people that go to high school and they want to play Tekken 5(~50 people or so). So far if you get a Tekken 5 machine I believe you'll be the only one to have it cuz Caboose might or might not get Tekken 5. I dunno, all I'm saying is theres a pretty big demand from the locals here and they want it and I want to pick up the game too. As far as the cocktail table goes, is there any way to change out the game or if you have another cocktail cabinet?

it looks like I'll be putting KOF 2002 and Samurai Showdown III out at Lanfreax this week. I think I'm going to swap SSIII out with some other old skewl Neo Geo game every time I go out there. I've got some Fatal Fury Versions, World Heroes versions, Art of fighting, and Samurai Showdowns, and some others. The Marquee on the cabinet will say King of Fighters 2002, but it's actually got a dual slot board in the cabinet, I doubt I'll put on there what the second game is, so go check it out and let me know what you think!

well, i sized him up. i don't need to play him in every fighting game in existence; i did observations.

Lukus knows the regular stuff, but he uses it with reckless abandon. Hopefully, he'll get better as he refines his playstyle. I already told him he reminds me of The Chief's playstyle...very similar. :sweat:

There are good points about him. He's got potential. That's something that I can readily observe. Secondly, he's willing to learn. That's very important. Thirdly, if he is willing to hear us out, he'll definitely be "someone" in DFW. :pleased:

I've refined a few players here in DFW. They've taken my advice to heart; hopefully, Lukus will do the same. He'll only get better from here on out, if he channels his resources in the right direction. My advice is the game of psychology and strategy, so he'll be able to apply it more readily to all games...and not just "FAQ-knowledge". :pleased:

I hope the Lubbock crew can come to the Houston Soutwest Regionals in July; I'd like to meet ya'll. :cool:

Actually I will be in Dallas during the time of the Regionals but I'll will try to make it to Houston. I've been trying to figure out some way to go to Houston during that time but I'll see what I can do. There is like no Lubbock crew either. Its just me and only me. IMO, Lukus' playstyle is whack. I see very little potential with him and thats if you teach him "the ropes" and the advice given. The willing to learn is just that he wants to be somebody and own everybody, and I don't think its going to happen. And I agree with you that he is willing to hear you guys out. Hell when he was here he kept talking about all kinds of things that I already knew and knew better than him and he was sounding like he was the hotshot. But since I'm sure he knows his place now he is willing to listen to better players. That is the ONLY way I can see him getting better. If its anything I was trying to talk to him to getting better or point out things but lukus is the one that never shuts up and it annoys me and I have leave. Everytime I play with him, he always has to talk. Saying like "good", "nice setup", "hmm", "didn't know you can do that", "interesting", "I've seen (insert name) do that". And I'm like quit it. And if I do see Lukus again I'll will still win but MAYBE he will be more of a challenge. Lukus, you're going to be "stuck" in mid-tier status for a while, because your skills will "plateau" because of your habits. It will definitely take a LONG time before you can de-program yourself from your playstyle.

I've described that playstyle to you described as "Angry Black" Rushdown. Even my friend 50 chuckled at it. He was stuck in that pure rushdown for a while. I'm glad some of my words finally got through, since he's improving in strides.

Signups are at noon and will stop signups at 1230 and should begin around 1235. $4 fee and you must pay for your own games too, sorry, tilt's rules but 3S is a quarter to play anyway. Winner gets 70%, Second 20% and Third 10%. After that Tekken 5.1 will start if you guys are interested and I went there today and player 2 side is fucked up so it would be in your best interest to bring a PS2 controller. Tekken is 50 cents but I think I can change that. I have people interested in 3S more than T5.1. I think there might be like 5 people for T5.1 since no one plays it and will know that they'll lose. I would put MVC2 in there but no one plays it hardcore. Let me know 2d if you need a ride so I can go pick you up. You should be fine cuz I think the Tech game starts at 7 and Tech should blow them away.

Wow Geese, but the weird thing I realize is not many people are a big fan of that game for some reason, probably because of the ultra gay super safe playing. I've done wayyyyy better in previous matches, but this is the first time I've seen high level fighting in CvS2, other then your friend O.J. Btw, watching Buktooth play was the highlight of all the matches, he is so freaking funny, to playing Dan, Todo, and Rugal on A groove, to RCing through a super with Blanka's cannon ball :wow: . Other then that, I need to improve more in that game, because I did better in 3S, which I didn't practice for...:confused:

The Alex you played was Jan-Michael Del Rio (Darkchylde) who is amazing in CvS2 and #R. 3s isnt his game.

DarkZero, your Alex wasnt half bad and definatly wasnt as bad as i was led to believe. But if you two were to play, Lukus would win at least 90% of the time.

Duane did pretty good and pulled some crazy comebacks and upsets.

I didnt see the 3s finals but Mopes started off with Ken.

Yeah I played Alex cause he's the one I play most often. I played ryu in casuals and I was hella rusty to the point of not playing with him in the tournament and since I haven't touched necro in ages I couldn't play with him so it was alex to contend with.
Thats right fasty I remember his last name being Del Rio. Yeah I saw him in CvS2 and hes really good. Oh and thanks for the Alex compliment but next time I'll try not to fuck as much as I did at trash.
