well this is basically how it went

i went there, lined up for marvel and got beat by i forget samB? someone i was supposed to play for money... or paris? i forget... someone.... and then i wait again, lose again

but yeah, remember, i haven't touched marvel since trihn came and i played less than ten games of both marvel and cvs2 then... so i sucked ass

and then i played again and won i think and then beat this guy named trace... who was prolly was good as the guys who beat me but i think i started pulling it back together... then, i played and i lost against someone and then i stopped playing and checked out the competition for the other games...

i played this guy named maverick who was this white guy and his magneto was fucking insane.. everyone's magneto was like better than mine lol it was stupid
i got reset like crazy and kept losing cuz mags would guard break me, infinite, reset, into snapback lol it was stupid

so then i had my match with stiltman and i'm thinking... dood, i got raped by samB and they're about the same level of players... so i was scared, but i think so was he cuz he kept going away and like didn't wanna play me. so i picked like team scrub or something against him and it was pretty bad, like almost ocv'ed him hahaha, i think it's just the new rushdown tactics that really got to me. skillwise i am still better than him. stilts of course would blame it on the sticks but whatever, the cabinet we played on was pretty low to the ground... not my fault he didn't wanna bend his knees though lol

soooo, then i have this match with this guy named N-ken. i forgot who he used but by then i was starting to get my confidence up and played like my usual self when i play locals here. the matches were me winning by substantial amounts but i think it's prolly cuz he doesn't rush down but outplays his opponent, the only tactic that i use nowadays and i guess i just outplayed him. anyways, i won that and felt pretty good about myself hahaha

THEN, i played trihn, and that guy's just a beast. i did wayyy worse than when he played up here but that's just cuz haha i suck hella now... so i lost 2-0 and i think he took it extra hard on me cuz he still thinks i'm good or something

so i went to the losers... i played psyanid who i thought would take me out and the first match was close but he picks sonson as his anti air so all i did was run away killing his helpers lol
so in the end, all he had was sonson and i had like 1.5 players back and he showed me this cool combo on how to get sonson's POW super without using a helper and i'm like "yo, check out this cammy combo!!!" and he's like HELL YEAH
so i went, did crouching LK, LK, FP, then in the air, i did lp,lk,mp,mk cannon drill into super and i'm like... did you like that?
and he looks at me and goes... wtf? did you make that yourself? hahahaha i think he was kinda pissed though lol cuz that combo was just retarded hahahaha

and then my next guy was rodolfo so i just died... that was fucking gay

BUT, i got ocv'd at first cuz i just didn't know how to play

but near the end of the game, i got lots more wins, and now my storm is hella better
i played maverick for $2 best of 3, and won, then won the rematch so i won $4

i wanted to play sam B but he had to leave

as usual, i got hella better after this tourney. and so will the rest of you...

i dunno, the guys who were beating me in the beginning wasn't able to do it afterwards.

i even took off two games from trihn afterwards... so next time i go, i'll do hopefully much better... but it really comes down to the brackets... i had to play trihn in the third round and then ro in the losers.... so yeah, if i had easier guys i'd be bomb lol

I watched the matches for the top 5 (Kuan, Mar, Row, Nanoboi, Xecutioner) and I was just so impressed. These guys know the game so well and have ridiculous skill. Everyone else is also just so high level... like Tao said any random player there is really good. Obviously they copy a lot of rushdown from each other but you still have so see it first to comprehend it.

You have to do the negative edge thing... like press both buttons for the roll, and release the kick button when you would re-push it (if that makes sense). The timing is difficult and i dont see a need for RC lp boom, so i wouldnt bother. Maybe a need for lk flask kick just because it has smaller window to attack if whiffed or blocked. I see it more usefull for say lp blanka ball or sumthin.

formerly the mvc2 champ, atm spidertao, AKA Tao Pow, aka the legacy of the final obliviation, aka FIST OF THE NORTH STAR Tao Xie's last tourney win was third strike last year... having come fourth in the last cvs2 tourney and like 90th in the regionals, he finally comes back into the scene with a 1st place in the 16 man guilty gear XX reload tournament this past sunday

the man who organized that shiet and was supposed to win, paul aka sycho was distracted first round and just lost in the losers... cocky navid aka archer v.2.0 expected to come top three but went 1-2 losing to a potemkin and then an anji player


the tournament was 15 men, with one girl, who's name was cammy... a beautiful fair maiden using ky...

this means that guilty gear xx has more interest than mvc2 lol at least in bc

that means bc is GAY lol

i will make an mvc2 tournament soon

anyways, although i agree that ggxx isnt as good as marvel. the graphics are amazing and imo it is a better game than third strike and cvs2. it is a very easy game to learn and the learning curve is similar to that of marvels. it is basically mvc1

however the only reason ggxx would suck is because you can not tech throws. that means that the game designers were retarded. considering the fact that the last ggxx tournament had more people in it than the last couple of marvel tournaments, kyle, i would suggest that you pick it up since it is easy to learn and beat up on new people now.

Tao, I agree... however, the learning curve for GGXX is much more steep for various characters than it was for Marvel 1... You just play with Sol.. Sol is the Cable of GGXX.. anyone can learn him to a high class, but only good players can master him.. Try playing with other characters like Eddie or Venom (hardest to play with in the game).. or try any of the top tier characters (Eddie, Millia, Slayer, Faust)... this game's learning curve is alot more steep than you give it credit for.

Archer: the KOFs are different every year. I've heard that 2003 is pretty good. 2000 was the best KOF imo. Since they vary every year, you're opinion might be changed if u played them all. (unless of course you have)

now, i DON"T think sol is any easier to use than those characters
it's just that his moves are like the same as old capcom games

so people have an easier time picking him up
if some guy who's never played street fighter plays ggxx, then he'll have as hard of a time playing sol as with other characters

besides, sol suits my playing style PERFECTLY
without helpers etc, the thing i like to do the most is jump around into throws and instant invincibility moves (ken, dudley, cammy, all my A grooves)

i also like anticipating a jump and then doing an air combo (elena, chun li, storm, mags, sentinel, cable)

i also like throwing out fireballs which have recovery frames different from average characters (guile)

and my FAVOURITE is to hit someone with a high priority antiair (SPIDERMAN). that is how i learned to play fighting games so therefore, sol is my man.

i wasn't successful with using ryu or ken or those zangief characters cuz my playing style isn't very well suited to those types of players. elena was my first successful character in third strike and storm was my first in marvel. both with playing styles that suit my playing style.

played it.. played KOF 97,98,99, 2k and 2k3. I actually went competitive in KOF 98 for awhile.

GGXX has a huge base in all of Europe, and the lower states (California, and that area).

I play 3rd Strike, CvS2, and GGXX. I use to know how KOF was played well until i stopped and started 3rd Strike... now i just suck at KOF, but i still know a few things about it.. I also played Garou very well when it was out in Circuit Circus, so i was glad to see Gato back.. but still, i have to admit, i played it for a little while, and enjoyed it a bit.. its not COMPLETLEY horrible.. it is one of the better KOFs out there.. but still, Being the best game in a series that isnt that great to begin with, isnt something to be proud of.

If you're getting thrown in GGXX then you're not changing up your tactics enough... kinda like getting thrown in Marvel. You should be able to see it coming a mile away (like empty jumps, running in too close, also if you block next to them on their wakeup). This is why you'll barely ever see throws in high-level GGXX vids. There's no reason for someone to get right in your face without hitting you, that's a sure sign of a throw coming. So you just hit P or K and combo them, or you could jump with FD which is safer...

Airthrows though, are crazy. They're some of the fastest moves in the game with just 1-frame of startup, and really easy to land. And then you can always use FD to cancel out the HS that comes out if you miss. Most broken part of GGXX's fighting system I'd say, though barely anybody uses them here. =/
