Sphere wasn't too much of a challenge (nor was Ethereal Queen), but Fayt was. I've beaten it once already (a file that's around 206 hours at this point), but I plan on focusing on eventually leveling everyone to 255 for the second play that I'm working on now.

Started playing DBZ: Budokai 3 again early this morning. Man, I almost forgot how sweet this game is. Best of all, I've learned not to rely on teleporting as much. As a result, my dodge/evasive game has improved significantly. And Gohan is just awesome. He's got this one punch that is an instant knockdown.
Wario Ware: Mega Microgame$=video game crack.
Every man and his dog is talking about God of War. Is the game really all that? I don't wanna pay $50 for a new game. The last new game I'll get for a while will ve Viewtiful Joe 2 for GC since it is $20 new at my EB Games.
I recently got my Kingdom Hearts back from my buddy Nick. I thought about starting that baby up but I haven't finished a few other RPGS (Golden Sun, Grandia II on DC).

soon enough the Dookieman will return to his adventures in the world of PSO. Meanwhile, I've had cable tv with premium channels(heh...a particularly awesome episode of Passion Cove is on right now!* ) AND a high speed internet connection on a newer computer...so I haven't played my console games since getting those things hooked up (about 2 weeks now)
On the other hand...GBA gets a lot of play from me. Things were kinda slow today so I was actually able to play Mario Bros. right there in the cubicle.
(*passion cove episode title = "Where Have You Been All My Life?" The secretary, Heidi,...her tits are incredible. and overall she's just really, really cute....)
Currently playing:
Shinobi (PS2) - Dont know how I missed out on this great game for so long. Challenging though. Very challenging.
FFVII (PS1 / 2)- Playing again for the 3rd time. Every few years I get the urge to go though it again.
Halo 2 (Xbox) - Nothing needs to be said really.
Fable (Xbox) - Not too far into the game yet, but pretty good so far.
Tiger Woods PGA Tour (PSP) - Love this game, dont even play golf. Im addicted to this though. Great for having fun while killing time.
Metal Gear Acid (PSP) - Overall, I like it ok. Story seems ok thus far. Still trying to get used to the turn based system though. I think I'd have liked it alot better in traditional MG style.
Darkstalkers Chronicle (PSP) - Awesome. Anyone know of some good Darkstalkers stat / combo sites. Im new to DS. Getting into it quick though.

Started Worms Forts: Under Seige! on PS2 Monday night. Man, do I suck at this game but man, is it fun! The graphics are so cute and worms are just so freaking hilarious!! You can name them, name the team of your worms, customize their hats, the death stones, type of speach (from classic worms talk, drill sergeant, and many others). The customization options provides a wealth of fun and the actual gameplay is pretty good. Getting used to some of weapons is gonna take time, though. Get this--there is one weapon called the Old Woman. You actually send out an elderly lady and you detonates at your command. You can even fire a refigerator at your eneimes. I kid you not. All this for a mere $20. Play it on Xbox, play it on PS2, just play it my fellow SRKers.

First and Formost i just want to put it out there that im a Pirate, and i hardly buy games bc of the lack of quality in the market today. But everyonce in a while a game comes along that i feel guilty about not buying it. I bought GOW, and its the best 50 bucks i spent in the last year.
So, I just finished God of War and i felt compelled to talk about. The game is just that good, in everyway. Story, Level Design, Gameplay, Character......in no way does this game skimp. As soon as you start the game you just no that the creators had fun making the game, and its game made by gameplayers no just execs making decisions. GOW is about 10hrs long and its 10hrs of intense combat, story and action. Any one who likes games owes it to themselves to buy this game, and i hate to spam but this game is damn good. This game deserves the hype and recognition it is getting. My only fear is that it ended to soon and i was craving for more. I have heard rumors of them already planning the next three installments but i really hope they just let the series end here, Good games should end with success and not be run into the ground, ala prince of persia.
Anyone else playing this game....Holla

Never beat it? How far did you get?
Got to the last boss. I couldn't destroy his brains or his eyballs. The upper part inside of him was just too much fro much. I used the dog. Everytime I would get close to destroying it those little things flying inside of him would knock me out of the air. I couldn't do it. This was THE coolest boss fight period. In any game tho'.
For anyone who has an Xbox. YOU NEED PHANTOM DUST! This game is just to damn good. It's starts off kinda slow but once you get your arsenal built it starts getting crazy and you can see how far you can take this game. I would say it's a cross between card game and games like Quake. TONS of customization, cool character designs, awesome music, great atmoshpere and only $20. One of the best games on the Box. I can't wait to play this online, once I get a halfway decent arsenal.

There's a small lip in the upper area that you can stand on, you don't have to stay in the air.

MvC2: Since I'm going to my friend's place tomorrow, I thought I'd get some game in. I've descovered the joy of Collosus. The mutant is just raw and he's pretty quick for a big guy. And I have once again felt the scorn of the cheap AI. Blasted air combos and corner rapes. I'm positive the AI does things that no human player can, no matter how good he or she is.
Worms Forts: Under Seige!: I'm getting better but the weapons take some serious time to get used to. Again, name your worms, teams, picking their hates and style of talk is a lot of fun. I'm trying to get past the final tutorial, which plays out like an actual mission. Right now, I've got most of the enemie's fort destroyed and I think they are down to jsut 3 worms (The most worms you can have on a team are 4).

Playing through Final Fantasy 8 again, I'm at the end of the second disc, just kicked Odin's ass, but not before snaking 100 Triples for everyone in my team (Squall, Rinoa and Zell). Squall effectively murders anything in his path, as do Rinny, Zell, and Irvine (Squall's Lionheart in Disc 1 + Irvine's AP Ammo in Disc 1 = everything DIES in Discs 1-4).

MvC2: While I had some horrible matches against my friends Justin and Brandon tonight, I FINALLY beat Justin on two occasions and I took out his Blackheart (who I always struggle against when Justin plays as) pretty quickly. I even beat Brandon a few times as well. And even on some of the matches that I didn't win, I made both of them work HARD for those victories and some fights were VERY close.
I played an old PS1 game last night. I picked it up about 2 weeks ago. It may have been on the Saturn as well but I'm not sure. The name of the game is RayStorm and it is heavy on twitch reflex gameplay. I like how you can adjust the difficulty in all 8 stages before you begin the game to make it as easy or as hard as you want. I only made it tow the 5th stage. Its all about the auto-lock on, baby!! That feature is just too cool. The game is pretty fun. I think I have one more game in the RayStorm series to get until I have them all. I have RayStorm and RayCrissis: Series Termination. I don't know what the other game is called.

no, it was a port of the game "Be Your True Mind" which was a spinoff of the megaten line. Supposedly DDS isnt even a true SMT game either, they just stuck the SMT on for the American audience to tie it in with Nocturne.

jesus its a little confusing sometimes. I dont like the time delay in the combat mode. I would prefer to have full real time battles or turn based. not this inbetween shit.
other thanthat, I enjoy the game very much. I like the non linear style of play as far as choosing my fate. I am deciding to go for the dark side of course. So i have been capping people and turning a blind eye to injustice all over the place LOL.
i am about to head into the sewers of Tarsis. and I just finished killing off a bunch of rakghouls.
im still really trying to figure out the level up system and the best way to spend my limited points. also I wish they were a little less complicated when it comes to giving the stats for armor and weapons. evidently i have to do low level calculus to figure out which gun is better than another one LOL.
but overall I am enjoying myself. and Im sure I will understand the game better as I play more. But i also will be playing the game twice so I can play once in the dark and once in the light.

There is one thing you can do. You can pause the game in the middle of battle. You do that by clicking on the white button. Once you do that press x to choose what moves you want your characters to do. You can Switch to the others and do the same with the black button while it is still paused and choose their moves as well. It saves you time and your life in the later rounds.
As for the leveling up, the characters you dont play as just choose the default. If you can try to get your wisdom up to basically get anything you want since your are joining the Darkside. Also you can Pause immediately in battle then go into your inventory and select a medpac, advanced medpac, or lifesupport pack, and press A to use it. you will get health and not waste a combat turn.
I think there is a serious boss in the sewers of taris. As using characters I suggest Canderous and HK-47 and use Canderous for melee after you get "all of the star maps" (spoiler). I say use these guys since you are on the dark side. It'll be easier to make decisions on the dark side without hearing the Jedi whine. I wont ruin it for u but if you happen to have an all Jedi team towards the end, and they realize you're on the darkside (you'll betray them) watch out. Also try to have all the Jedi maxed out in healing early.

Get Grandia, the game is hot.
Jet Set Radio Future has sucked me back in. This is one of the best games ever made IMO. The art style, music, gameplay, and story are hot.
Why this franchise didn't blow up is beyond be. Anyone have an idea why this series isn't popular?

You could slowly blaster him to death, or put a Grenade in his food Hunter.
Got my hands on Tales of Symphonia and Phantom Dust. Phantom Dust is trip sometimes, especially on Live. It's almost impossible to keep up with alot of players. Maybe once you complete the game it gets easier.
Tales of Symphonia is just crack in RPG form. Call the detox ward for me when you get the time somebody.

Well a half hour ago, my Super Famicom's trek from Japan to my house has concluded. But my dad pretty much killed the excitement and exhilarion I expected to digest once I got it.
The mailman sent the package to my house and the result: A confrontation with my dad with false allegations I spend money on video games way too much and I don't understand the difference between wants and needs. Well, I sold my Gamecube to get the fucking thing thank you very much!
Sometime last week, right after I paid for my machine, I took that 5 minute drive down to the post office, with the shirt I slept in the night before and flip flops, and told the people to mail me a slip that my package arrived and I would pick it up so I could avoid disasters like what i previously mentioned. But they HAAAAAD to blow my cover by bringing it to my house for my dad to see.

^The only thing that stops you from playing sfc games on your ntsc snes are 2 stupid little plastic tabs that you can just break off with pliers, no nasty side effects either. So break em, and get on Ebay.:bgrin:
I've probably played more than will be mentioned here, but whatever.
Finished Chrono Trigger on sfc a while ago, and now I'm working on Earthbound. The only thing preventing me from advancing is bad luck, as I'm getting ALL of the 1/128 items. I got Poo's Sword of Kings and Jeff's Gaia Beam, and now I'm killing Chomposaurs and Major Psychic Psychos underground. I am so very, very bored, but on the bright side I'm already level 85.
Re-addicted to Diablo II: LoD. A friend was modding it, so I figured I'd check it out for a couple minutes... naturally that leads to playing AT LEAST 4 hours a day. It's a good thing my school marks were so high, because there is definitely a steady decline over the past couple weeks. :xeye:
For Xdude I've been slowly making my way through Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, and Doom 3. I couldn't stand the first SC because of the lack of a quicksave feature. With that implemented, problem solved and I can enjoy it. Doom 3 I'm really only playing because of Ultimate Doom and Doom 2.
Fighterwise I've been playing Tekken 5 and XvSF, with some MvC2 here and there. T5 is surprisingly solid, and you all should know the greatness that is XvSF (especially since SnH2)...
Personal life could be more pleasant, but what can you do.

Also picked up Devil May Cry 3, Metal Gear 3 and God of War.
Now for the real good stuff. I went crazy on Ebay looking for RPGs. I chose
Grandia 2
Breath of Fire DQ
Shadow Hearts Covenant
Kingdom Hearts
Star Ocean Till the End of Time
Vagrant Story and
Chrono Cross
Out of all of those I have only ever played Vagrant Story, which I didnt complete. Im playing Star Ocean first. The game seems pretty cool but the voice acting drives me mad. I havent muted it yet, but I think I will pretty soon. I like the battle system even tho at the moment it seems pretty easy. Still, very nice game tho.
Now I just have to decide if I should pay my outstanding debt, or pick up a PSP on launch next month. PSP blatant :pleased:
Does anybody have Lumines? If so, how is it?
Edit: Oh, and Im getting back into my CvS2. I took some time off to play 3S, but I didnt enjoy it too much. Working towards a scary Sagat and a flash Kim lol. Still a shoto/sak whore tho :karate:

No, they heat up regardless of where you put them (I'm guessing less space for cooling), but a friend of mine had his kids leave his Slim PS2 on for 12+ and it works just fine.
Nothing to be concerned with.

good to know...mine was left on all night once and it is still working.
In other news I started playing DDS last night. Love the graphics and music so far (although the american singing is kinda lame). The battle scenes are weird to get used to because I'm used to going into battle as a regular human and then having the demon come out when you use spells. Their win animation is tight as hell though. I assume I'm not at the part where the mantra grid becomes available yet because I can't seem to change mantras int he terminals. I also wonder why the camera doesnt auto follow you from behind in dungeons, but using the analog sticks works well. COntroller armor > you

It really doesn't take long to reach the point where you can switch Mantras.. As soon as you clear the first "dungeon" you get a couple of cutscenes and then you can change em.

I'm torn on what to play. I have all these games I've started but haven't finished yet (GTA: SA, Spider-Man 2, Katamari Damacy) and I know I should finish them but I want to play MMX8 so frickin' badly. Tekken 4's turtle AI is really getting on my nerves. It can also be cheap at times. The AI knows every flipping unblockable too.
But I found that I do like Steve Fox. I hardly ever take to boxing characters in fighting games but this dude is pretty tight. Once I beat Story Battle with everyone, I'll move on to some Practice and Survival mode play. I was happy to know that Julia is in Tekken 4... and she's still as good/deadly as ever.
Gonna get back into Spidey 2. If I can just tear myself away from the all the web-slinging, I can beat this game.

So you've played MMXCM? How good is it? I'm thinking about getting it next week when I pick up Viewtiful Joe 2.Actually, I rented it just so that I could make that save file and fight Cut Man. I'm not an RPG fan, personally.
Also, VJ2 is not as good as the first one. It isn't terrible, but there are just several glaring ommissions (like secret characters), and overall it just doesn't ooze with style like the first. IMO the wit and humor is lacking as well.
Million
04-16-2005, 07:02 AM
Yes^ The lack of secret characters is probably the main factor that helped VJ 2 kill off a lot of the series' potential for longevity. There are 2 bosses in particular....one of which was the final one(the "Emperor"), where my first thought was..."it would be SO tight if he was playable!!". And did Capcom/Clover deliver on that..? Something that was an established expectation from the first game? Nope....the bastards. Yeah, I'm still bitter about this. In fact, if my "computer geek powerlevel" was much higher, I would actually take the time...and find a way to FORCE the game to allow me to play as the "Emperor", and Miss Rachel as a team. Even if it took months...or even a year to figure out, it would be worth it to me.
dammit...even though I have a job now, I STILL can't afford to buy Doom 3 on top of Unreal Championship 2.....yes, I've heard all the disappointed commentary regarding D3....I still want it anyway. It's just a much prettier version of the old game, I realize that...plus, it actually comes with the old games if you get that collector's edition, or whatever they call it. I cannot pass this up.
*completely off-topic: some of these girls on W.I.T.C.H. are really hot...it's actually a surprisingly good show too, for a "girl show".

Macross: Scrambled Valkyrie.
OMFG! Best fucking Japanese Super NES shmup ever! Music is awesome. Stage 1's music fits the stage's setting perfectly.
It's hard as hell too. Die one time and it's Game Over. Bosses have insane patterns, and the stages themselves have enviormental hazards, like one segment of stage 1 has black holes that compress gravity and makes it harder for your ship to move. But you can change the ship in 3 forms, one of them can somewhat withstand gravity compression.

Heh, got to mayne. Hit ebay. That's where half my SFC shit came from. Next game to come to my house next week is Akumajou Dracula/Super Castlevania 4j, with the blood, crosses, almost nude statues and in game text font changes.
That's my agenda these days. I ain't no Japanophile, but these days I've been considering consdensing some space in my room by selling just half my American old school games and collecting Japanese stuff. Doing that with my Super NES, alot of my games I don't play anymore so I'm gonna just sell them off and get more Super Famicom games, but keep a few key American titles such as my RPG's, Megaman, and the games that came with my SNES when I got it 13 years ago. Considering doing the same with Sega Genesis and Saturn. Hell if I can use Game Genie and still play US Phantasy Star 4 on a Japanese Mega Drive, I might as well sell the Genesis and get a MD system.

Finally beat Tekken 4 with all fighters in Story Battle. The stories/endings of the Tekken series have always been good. Two of my personal fav endings: Law and Nina. SPOILERS Law runs into some jerkwad customers in his resturant and kicks the crap of of them. His resturant goes outta business but his dojo is booming with business. Nina has to assasinate Steve Fox. Turns out the mother of Steve was a subject of cryogenic suspension at the Mishima science labs. Turns out Nina is Steve's mom. Verrrry ineteresting. END SPOILERS I like every chick in Tekken 4 except Christie. Never cared for Eddy Gordo's fighting style. Its almost like being a babe in a Tekken game means you kick booty by default.

My current impressions are that I'm going to need a lot of practice. Also, melee seems quite overpowered. Several of the consistently high-placing players were abusing that mid-air pounce attack. Also, melee just in general has counters to every situation. The only 100% reliable way to fight melee is with melee.

BROCK's tournament complete in UC2. It's really kind of disappointing that there's apparently not even 1 cinema scene for any character besides the main guy Anubis. I think the least they could do would be perhaps some still pictures for endings, like in the old MKs There's nothing....but text. Hell, a lot of games just use the real-time graphics engine since today's graphics look so good anyway....so wny not go that route with everyone else? The regular Anubis cinemas seem to be real-time graphics....they could've at least given the others 1 short cinema for an ending....just one.
BROCK is too tight in coolness factor. It gives me Lauren's abilities with "Fear" instead of wack ass Siphon, and all without having to play as a woman character. Not that I have anything against that....it's just I can obviously get even more attached to the game environment if my character is a male...just like girls would likely have a better time relating to the game environment/experience by playing Lauren and other female characters.
Overdose can be a real bitch on other maps....there was one super easy one though, where the ball always spawned in just one location....which wasn't far from the goal. The difficulty of this game is really kinda all over the place....certain things are too easy, and certain other situations just make you want to smash a controller. I finally played Raptor....I guess he isn't as bad as I assumed...Radar is interesting to have...and whoahhhhh the blast radius of Self Destruct appears to be HUGE. :wow:

I would've liked a closing cinema for each character, as well. I understand why the Tournament Ladders don't get full, fleshed out stories like Ascension Rites, but one movie would've been cool. Oh, funny thing... Because of how Acension Rites ends, Selket's TL is actually her play through of the Ascension Rites, not a real Tournament Ladder like everyone else's.
As for the robots, I'm not fond of either one. Radar only gives those enemy location markers. Granted, it can see through walls, but that's it. All of the other vision modes get other extra features, but Radar gets nothing. Homing adds a homing to all ranged weapons, Berserker gets enhanced ROF and damage, Warrior's Spirit get enhanced ROF and movement speed, Wraith gets enhanced defense and makes it impossible to lock-on, Predator gets greatly enhanced speed and damage to melee attacks, but Radar marks through walls. Woo! Most of the other skills are kinda pointless, too. Upgrade is really slow and costs two bars, though isn't terrible (I just prefer Heal, myself). Cannibalize damages you to gain ammo (really stupid). Devastation's Head Turret is okay, but Malcolm's Sentinel is a much better version. Raptor's Self Destruct is nice, but kinda a special use skill.
Another thing that I hate about the robots is the way their vision gets worse the more damage they take. The screen slowly gets fuzzier, and eventually turns B&W. While this is a nice touch graphically, it is a problem for combat.

eh, the vision thing for robots near death is interesting to me...it's not a problem for me so far in the middle of combat....it adds a nice effect to remind you even more that you're a robot...it's cool, imo. But yah...the robots seem to have been short-changed when it comes down to adrenaline abilities. Everyone else has better stuff.
heh, there are some cheats after all...I'll get into that cheat menu later today. I don't care about "honor" in this case...I just want all the characters....it sucks that I can ONLY get Malcom from Live though.

After some experience with the challenge mode, I have concluded that yet again...there is a certain Gamefaqs member that must've been lying his ass off. I saw a thread about Challenge mode and cheating yesterday, and one guy claimed to have beat it all without cheating...which might be believable, sure...until he said "I beat most of them on my first try." Bull-ass-shit. Get the hell outta here with that. That's almost as bad as TMOG's claim of getting a No-Damage Clear on Smash Bros. Melee, Very Hard mode with Pichu.
anyway, I'm currently taking a break...I'm probably about 60% thru challenge mode on UC2 now. I actually did get a few completely fair kills on Raiden a little while ago in the Mortal Kombat challenge.
Raiden is now unlocked. Even utilizing cheats...that took awhile, cuz sometimes I was trying to beat certain challenges without cheats. There was one towards the end that I won fair and square...I forgot what it was though....maybe one of the CTFs,,,

Hopped back into Spidey 2. Mysterio is really getting on my nerves. The dude just does not know when to quit. First that gay obstacle course, then taking hostages in some theatre, and then take over Lady Liberty (although I gotta say, I did enjoy taking down those bombs or whatever they were aroud the statue.) And I laughed out loud when Mysterio said "You have no chance to survive, make your time!!" That was just gold.

Now I love me some 2D fighters but man, I just had to take a break from MvC2. The game's 99 level AI was really starting eo irk me with its cheap bull crap tactics that no human player can do. I mean, I love MvC2 but screw that garbage. So I went back to my 3D fighting love. That's right, I'm talking about Viruta Fighter 4: Evolution. I just can't get over how amazingly deep and awesome this game is. Each fighter has a move set that snaps two pages in the instruction booklet. I have to get used to blocking with a button again and I miss the quick get ups from Tekken 4 but by and large, VF4: Evo is still the king of 3D brawllers in my book. Now for my personal status:

Playing Mega Man Anniversary Collection on Gamecube. Beat MM1 and MM2 and halfway through MM3. At first I was having a hard time because for some reason, Capcom decided to reverse the buttons for the Gamecube version, but now I've gotten used to it. I wouldn't have so much a problem with it if you can change the button configuration, but you can't. I hope they don't do this for the Megaman X collection.

hmm...^thanks for the tip...I'll get the Xbox version then. Good thing I'm late on the whole Megaman Anniversary thing. I can usually adjust to just about any control setup though.(*except inverted controls in a FPS...that's stupid...I'm playing a game, not flying a plane. Up is supposed to mean Up!)
I'll probably be playing UC2 all day today, since the weather is crappy right now and there's no point to going outside.(*no super short skirts walking around.)
MvC2 was never hard, imo...most people actually thought it was too easy....at least...the Dreamcast version. I don't know if the other versions were made more difficult, but I doubt it. But there are certain characters you have to just cheap out to beat....like Rogue, or Thanos, or Storm particularly. With say...Cable on my team, I'd just jump fierce and/or HVB all day while calling a good cover assist like Doom's rocks or "pink shit".....or Spiral's swords. Usually the ai characters will just block this all day, and eventually die to block damage. Also, Cable is of course THE Assist-killer.....every time I'm playing with that character....I'm just waiting for an assist to hop out on the screen so I can blast that ass with AHVBxWhatever. (heh, usually get the announcer to say "MARVELOUS!" when you do that)
Or, I might get Iceman, and of course another good coverage assist like Doom, and Icebeam/Glacier(?) all round...and chip them to death like that.....Megaman is even better with the Buster shots and Rockball + Assist. cpu characters can't do shit usually if you have Mega and a good assist, and you just get out the Rockball to add to your screen control.....it keeps the cpu locked down in one little area until they die.
sidenote---I like Megaman in the grey color on that game....I like a red color scheme Strider...or green...
and Spiral = HOTNESS. Check spiral's Booty™. It's serious. And just imagine the sexual implications of those extra arms, as well as her weird stretchiness....

>You can pick which of the 3 to play as they have their own quest: Richter, Alucard and Maria.

Prince of Persia is The Shit™. I still haven't beat that game, since there were others that stole my attention from it....particularly Phantasy Star Online. My PSO addiction could steal me away from nearly any game at any time....
Magneto and Guile with Mega? I prefer some assists that give some good coverage....like Doom. Mega with Doom keeps the whole screen under your control....there's stuff flying everywhere, and it severely cuts off the cpu opponents options. It's been months since I played that...I can't even remember the whole roster....but my favorite assists were always Doom, Spiral, Sentinel, Iceman, and Captain Commando. heh, the cpu teams NEVER have a chance when you have some of those assists....Sentinel(drones) or Doom (rocks or "pink shit")especially....they just can't get around that at all.
it would be so great to have Zangeif's Iron Body power for real...
time for some Unreal Championship 2 greatness....I was on a roll the other day with Arclite....against cpu opponents of course, heh. Playing FFX for the first time right now. My new roommate has a PS2 so I figured I'd give it a try.
It's not the greatest, but I was still pleasantly surprised. I mean the story is kinda bleh, the writing is sub-par and the acting would make Roger Corman cringe, but it's still oddly amusing. I dig the new leveling system and the fully controllable/customizable "Aeons"(why the fuck does square not settle on one fucking name). One thing I do wish they'd adopt is a more complex equipment system. Instead of making it more elaborate they keep simplifying it from game to game. They could learn from games like Diablo2. Adding more possible inventory slots and item affixes would allow you to play through the game in so many more ways. The combat, albeit pretty, is still shallow; I REALLY REALLY wish they'd make advances in this department considering so much of the game happens here.
But anyway, I'm having fun even if it seems like I'm being overly negative.

Brothers In Arms Road To Hill 30-XBX....makes the console Medal of Honor and Call Of Duty games seem like child's play. Gameplay's like Full Spectrum Warrior, but you actually control a character this time. Wicked enviroments, cool squad tactics, and pretty hard edged storyline(compared to other WWII games). I'm not usually into WWII shooters, but Bros. In Arms is an exceptionally well done game.
Kingdom Under Fire-XBX: This game is a sleeper, but actually wicked fun. Take the hack and slash shit from the Dynasty Warriors series and put in a whole lotta military strategy. You end controlling armies of 1000 plus warriors...complete with archers and catapults. You move around the battlefields, strategically placing your soldiers and setting up for attacks...when the combat begins it turns into a melee free for all, with hundreds of onscreen characters duking it out Braveheart style. Not the freshest visuals, and the dialogue can be harmful if listened to, but the gameplay is hella fun.

*hey....the charged nanoblack shot from a Necris either doesn't affect another Necris, or it helps them...I forgot....so...wouldn't it actually be to my benefit that someone reflects my charged shot back at me? The announcer still says "WASTED!" though when that particular situation happens.

Doom with Mega Man? I can't believe I've never thought of that. I'll still keep play VF4: Evo but I'll get in some practice with MvC2 now that Million brought that pair to my attention. I've used Doom a few times but never really stuck with him. And what is with all the Ken users in ANY SF or Vs. game? And I HATE Thanos Blackheart with a passion. I know MvC2 wasn't made for ballance but man, these guys are like the ultimate in cheese moves.

Everything he has can be jump-back blocked and counter-assisted. And Ken is only ho-hum in that game, except for his Anti-Air, which is one of the better AA assists (though not BH/CapCom/Jin tier). Another good pairing for MM is Sentinel with Ground assist. Arguably better than Doom rocks, even, since it can be used to ghetto trap with Rockball and FPs. IIRC, the pattern is drop ball and call Sent, jump back FP, standing FP, short kick the ball, repeat. Though Doom is good too, he provides better chip and meter build. You just have to be a tiny bit more careful with him, both due to being harder to cover and having lower defense.

I'm hoping the new VJ games will make up for some of the disappointment that VJ2 was. heh, the constant bashing makes it sound like the game sucks, but it really doesn't, imo....it's just that it's a letdown after the first one....since the first one happens to be one of the greatest games of all time, imo.
Unreal Championship 2 ---I finally did a coup de gras! Thanks to Gamefaqs, I found a way around my problem with following random button prompts in the middle of such fast paced action...they now have SECRET coup de gras posted! Unlike the normal ones, these are the same button inputs everytime, which makes it easier on me....this is a lot easier than trying to follow the prompt on the screen(it's better for me to just memorize an input command, rather than follow random prompts)....I started off easy with BROCK's secret cdg. Of course the problem with CDGs in this game is obvious to anyone----I'd say most of the time, it just isn't a practical option. Yeah the secret cdgs give an adrenaline boost on top of being a guaranteed kill, but it leaves you wide open in a fast-paced FPS, which is a definite no-no. Fortunately I think your character may be invincible while the killing animation is going on.
I completed more tournament action today with various characters. I still haven't unlocked Malcom and Gorge though.
heh, it's funny to hear the characters curse....that country/slight redneck sounding "HOLEEE SHEIT!" is great....and I think I heard Malcom call someone a bitch when they took our flag today. And of course, there's the classic "FUCK YOUR TOURNAMENT." at the end of the story mode.
edit---and I never imagined I'd enjoy a CTF mode....until this game. Perhaps it's the superior design of the maps, but I actually enjoy this mode now....there's something awesome about the different elements of strategy going on...for example, I like going on defense, and holding off all opposition to the base, while 1 or more teammates go to get the other team's flag.
...or, it's funny to hide out in the other base, and as soon as one of my guys drops the opponent team's flag and they recover it...I run up and snatch the flag out of their base again. And defense is just perfect for trash talk...your enemies are coming to you, and you lay there waiting...like a perfectly poised predator....and you see them..."ah, they approach....like lambs to the slaughter..."
but yah...the maps are just brilliant. I'd love to have my dream house/palace modelled after "Horizon".

And yes, several of the characters do indeed swear. Malcolm particularly says bitch a lot. One of his CTF taunts is "That's our flag, bitch!" I think it's hilarious. Well my friend wanted to check out Mega Man X Command Mission on the PS2. In the past I had wondered what Mega Man would play like an an RPG setting but I didn't think it would be the X series. I just started the game but so far, this is some good stuff. The combat system takes some getting used to but I like it. Fire X and Black Zero are some bad mothers. The first boss Hippopressor, is surprisingly putting up a good fight. He's gotten both X and Zero's LE (Life Energy or HP) into the yellow. Normally I don't get nervous for my characters in a RPG this early on but if this is any indication, Command Mission could be quite challenging.
I also played some Mega Man X8 today. Oh snap, is this too good. Beautiful 3D visuals but with sweet, sweet 2D gameplay. X, Zero, and Axl all play differently. Axl can hover AND shoot in 8 different directions!!! Shooting in 8 different directions with rappid fire in a Mega Man game = THANK YOU, GOD!! And Vile is back!! And he looks pimped!!! And the voices = GOOD!! X finally sounds like a man and even Axl doesn't suck this time.

Their unique skills (Primal Scream/Fear) both deactivate currently active Adrenaline skills, and prevent further use for 20 seconds.
Also note that most of the bots are stupid and keep attacking you when Unstoppable is active, while some human players recognize the red aura and run away.
And seriously unlock Gorge if you are liking Arclite. He's exactly the same except his skill Smash is way better than Concusion. Smash costs 1 bar and deals extremely heavy damage to everyone caught in the blast (it will kill Lights immediately, and Mediums can only survive if their health is fully Overdriven).

ah yes....I was wondering about Brock and Torgr's skills there....like what happens if an adrenaline power is already activated, and they use fear/primal scream...thanks for answering that already. At first I thought their powers just prevented adrenaline powers...I didn't know they also cut off powers that were already active.
I'm lazy about getting Malcom and then Gorge, because my 2nd controller is a piece of crap from Madcatz....and thus, unlocking Malcom is going to be quite annoying.(*the signal from that Madcatz junk is not consistent apparently, as the Xbox keeps reacting as if I'm pulling that controller plug out every now and then.)
*small sidenote---I think Arclite looks cooler than Gorge though. There's just something "junky" looking abut Gorge, and it's not a good thing.

I like Gorge's armor, but his face paint and mohawk thing look stupid. For that reason, I still use Arclite as well. But like I said, Smash >>>>> Concussion, so I like Gorge better.
EDIT: Oh, I also like Arclite's personality. How he doesn't have any violent tendancies, but because he is still a genetically enhanced Human, the Liandri Toutnaments were still the only place he could find work. So he only fights begrudgingly out of it being the only job he can find. It makes him an interesting, somewhat pitiable character.

wow, Pariah is such a shit game. I'm not gonna even bother trying to explain why I feel that way.
Artelier Iris is a bland rpg for ps2. It just feels a bit sloppy, then again I'm only 20mins into the game. Still playing Forza, Enthusia and Stella Deus though.

Buy that shit. One of, if not the best game of last year.
They sell for around $25 new on ebay but then you gotta pay shipping and all that, so $25 for a basically new copy is a good deal.
EDIT: And there's a guy that shoots bees out of his mouth.

Beat SH:C (both endings), still don't know what to think regarding Karin's side of the story...
Attempted mission 13 in DMD in DMC3, yet got trounced by Vergil once again. Also playing KoF '02, mainly working on MAX mode combos here and there, occasionally playing GGX2 as well.

I just bought Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne for $20. Hopefully it is good, as I haven't played it yet. I have trouble starting RPGs because I know I have to set aside several hours just to start playing the game.

I think Mega Man X8 is now one of my fav X games. The game just has so many good things going for it. I got the Neutral Armor for X a few days ago. Looks like X is packing a Kamehameha Wave!!
 And seeing Vile back in action is just tightness. The game isn't really overly difficutl but I've die a lot. I think I died more than 10 times in Burn Rooster's stage.
I posted this in the Mega Man thread, but I found a copy of Mega Man X3 for $39.99 at EB Games. So I snatched that sucker up ASAP!! Now I have all the X games!! W00t!!

Even though I can agree X8 is fundementally a good game, I don't see how it's fun at all. It's just such a bore to play and I thought it was too easy =/

I was on Live the other night with Unreal Champ2...under a friend's account. All the bad commentary is true, unfortunately. The lag is rediculous. I was losing to lag, and then....I was actually WINNING because of lag. It got to the point where I no longer feared most of my opponents rejecting my Flak shots....because I knew the timing for them on rejecting a shot was just as screwed up as it was for me..(I stopped even trying to reflect stuff, and just held block and tried to dodge) Of course, the only guy that could reflect my shots was the 1 guy who actually had a stable connection.
There were 2 great moments where I was on a roll with the kills...and yeah, I was Arclite as usual. (*announcer called "MULTI-KILL", and "SAMURAI!") The dude who played as Brock wasn't even using his "Fear" ability, surprisingly....and that's 1 of the few things that can beat Arc's "Unstoppable". Besides the lag, I think I was doing alright for the first time fighting real people in that game. I'm thinking if there ever is a tier-listing done up for this game, Arclite has GOTTA be near the top. Just review the deal ya get with Arclite here:
-Melee dominates --Arc is one of the heavy characters....you get POWER, and you can take the hits, unlike someone weak like Lauren or Devastation(*really what's the point of Deva besides TnA? Her head turret ability is nice, but that's pretty much it.).
-UNSTOPPABLE! (+ possible Heal or health powerups to compensate for gradual energy loss.)
-Heavy character + Charged/targeted air dash = pain.

I'm playing:
Phantom Brave(I've had this game for 7 months and still haven't found the time to finish it)
La Pucelle Tactics(still haven't even started it)
Gran Turismo 3 and 4(try playing this simultaneously and get 100%)
Prince of Persia 2(one day I'll finish this....thing)
Resident Evil 4(I'm halfway through and I still haven't finished. Fucking school)
PSP:
Ridge Racer
Wipeout Pure
Hot Shots Golf Open Tee(top tier)
Darkstalkers(I hate the pad for this game)

You're right Million. UC2 is a good game for the most part. But the online play right now is stupid. A patch to fix the lag + a few balance changes would make it one of the greatest online experiences ever, though.

I really got into Advance Guardian Heroes today. I like the combat system and leveling up your character at the end of a stage is pretty cool. Drawbacks: slowdown. When too much action hits the screen, things slow to a crawl. And enemies also hav eno qualms about ganging up on you--they have no code of honor. They will literally kick you when you're down. And on the final stage after beating the last boss, you have to use counter with the R button to stop a fire ball from wiping out the Earth. Alright. I'm cool with doing that. Here's the kicker: if you mess it up it's game over and you have to do the final stage all over again. That stage had enough bosses and annoyances to begin with and you're telling me that I gotta do the whole freaking stage again?! You mean I can't start where I left off like all the other stages? Screw the game and screw you, Treasure.

AI is just so basic. The way to get mana is pretty lame too, its like repetitive and you kinda have unlimited amounts since you can enter a section, absorb or wtvr it is to get mana, exit and come back again, repeat. I'll play it a bit more tomorrow, but it feels sloppy too.
Atleast you have an option for jpnse voices. VA either way isn't that great either.
Its easy to find leaks

I've spent some time with the Chambers in VJ2 the last couple days. I'm just wondering if there is a good way to deal with those electro-shield idiots? The best I've been able to manage, and this is after beating the story mode on every difficulty, is to Zoom In in front of them, then jump over them and slow punch them in the back, then VF the dodge when they reel backwards and their shield strikes you. And that leaves you with no VFX, and takes a long time if there is more than one of them.
Also, I wish that the Chambers gave some indication of how long each one is. It sucks to have to just keep playing until it ends. I'd like to have some idea of how much further I have.

Pariah single player - kinda blah, but atleast it's damn pretty.
pariah multiplayer demo - halo/tribes. Pariah rips off those games pretty good. Nothing that special.
guildwars- pvp is too good.
Mame - esp ra.de - still trying to 1cc this shmup.
PS2 - Midnight Club 3. I love it. Makes me feel thug gangster.
Gran Turismo 4 - Finally beat that bloody world championship series. 50% done
No more downloading/buying games for awhile.

I also thought Atelier Iris was a fucking shitty game, until I kept playing it. And wow, its pretty nice, you run out of mana fast, so its not that bad, and it does get a bit more complicated later on, but godamn, its a fucking easy ass game, and yet Im still itching to play it some more...

Also gotta get through the last bit of Psychonauts, which is fucking awesome (I posted a response to remy's last post)
Gonna try a bit more of Dungeon Lords as well... sorta ok except for the major fucking glitches that really ma
