Rented DMC3. This game is hard.

Remy, you should know my gripes about Psychonauts... but I actually still want to play it. Does it improve later on? And at the Napoleon guy, how far into the game am I?

Remy, you should know my gripes about Psychonauts... but I actually still want to play it. Does it improve later on? And at the Napoleon guy, how far into the game am I?I'm assuming you already did the Theatre level and haven't done the bullfighting level yet. Technically, those two levels and the Napoleon one can be done in any order, but that is the order that you meet the characters in. Anyway, with that assumption in mind, you have 3 more levels. The bullfighting one, a level in the real world as you climb the deteriorated tower to Dr. Loboto's lab, and the final level (I don't wanna spoil it). Anyway, personally I only disliked the Theatre level, though I also wasn't super enthralled by the Napoleon one either. The final level is wicked, though. Interesting story conclusion, and a very fun-to-play level (though frustratingly hard in the first part).

Anyway, you're close enough that I'd strongly advise you to finish it. Even if the gameplay hasn't captivated you like it did me, the story is very good.

I finished Mega Man X8 last night. Yes the game was pretty easy, but I really enjoyed the 10+ hours I spent playing it. Good level designs and diverse characters. I'm sure I'll go back some day and play it again to fight the true final boss and get 100% in every level. Plus I want to play as the Navigators as well. This game makes me wish for an X9 but that's like wishing for a MM9.
 The spike area in the final stage was probably one of the most annoying spike areas in any MM game since MM6.

I'll check CC tomorrow. The BlockBuster near my house has it, but only one copy and for rent. I asked about purchasing it but the lady said since they only have one copy of the game that it wouldn't go on sale anytime soon. Man, looking at the screens on the back brought back memories

On another note : found Alpha 3 for $10 on PS. Man, I love this game.

Mega Man X8 is one of the better X's for quite some time now. I managed to get AAA's in every stage, but in all honesty, was'nt as hard as I thought it was going to be. Oh man, can't wait for X collection!!!

Anyways, bought Viewtiful Joe 1 earlier today (yeah, played and beat part 2 before touching part 1) and already finished it on Adults. My only gripes are that it felt kinda short, and I guess that's because of the fact that they don't let you save after the first break time for each act. And despite all the gripes I was hearing about Fire Leo being hard, he was a little easy (died only once, and that was because I was lacking life....heh). Had more trouble with the shark and King Blue than I did with Leo.

Also, UV-Rated on Viewtiful Joe 2 is'nt as troublesome as V-Rated, it seems. Bosses feel as if they were slowed down to adults speed. Which completly makes the game a whole lot easier. Oh well, i'm only at Alastor so maybe it'll get hard later.

So I started in on RV Challenge on the original Joe. I've begun as Joe first, since he is the balanced character. Use him to learn the ropes, figure out how much of a balance between time and points I need in each area, etc. If I can manage it, I'll definitely get Super Al and Super Blue, too. Maybe Sylvia as well, just for completeness.

Anyway, so far it hasn't been so bad. I only finished the first movie, but it hasn't been as hard as I'd expected yet.

Million, since you already got Super Blue... You have any advice? Any particularly problematic areas to watch out for? Also wondering what the best way to get the coins out of those crates behind Bruce in Mag. 5 is, since I know you need them for points on that scene.

My GC hasn't been getting any love from me lately so i may pick up VJ2 tomorrow. And I feel like playing some racing games so I'm thinking about getting NFS: Underground. I hear the original is actually better then U2. Plus U2 is $50 and the first one is a cool $20. Also, the underappreciated Racing Gears Advance for the GBA is sounding more and more interesting to me.

A few days ago I wiped out a few more Neo Arcadia jerks on Zero 3. And what the heck *SPOILER* is Copy/Master X doing back? Is he gonna be the new Sigma now? AKA I have to blast him to kingdom come 10909328 times? *END SPOILER*

One of the most difficult areas I remember was the underwater part...I think that's Act 3...there's a room with Bianco Billys, the fish, and those shock wheel objects. It's really easy to get hit in this area while trying to kick an enemy into the shock things, and Ukemi becomes less of an option, since that part is on an incline, and it's harder to Ukemi when the ground is not level. I remember this being quite a hassle since there are no regular biankys there....obviously they're much easier to kick around than a Bianco Billy. The point requirement seems strict there.

Also, the trip back after you beat Joker is rough too, since it's one long segment, and the time requirement is strict.

Background boxes during Bruce fight---I think you can hit him with Mach speed when he stops and looks like he's catching his breath.

*I'm as excited for VFX Battle as I was for the original VJ1....

UC2---Brock is now one of my regularly used characters of course. Strategically he's one of those interesting counter choices to a Juggernaut like Arclite....since "Fear" can shut down "Unstoppable", I assume. I was playing against some "Adept" bots yesterday....I'm still moving on up the difficulty. It may be time to try "Masterful" today.

The most health of any boss in either game, and made even more annoying because it's harder to stun since skull marks aren't shown. Also has some new moves, IIRC.

I got Rainbow Vs on Dark Kaiser and Black when playing UV, though. And I wasn't even trying to get good scores, just survive.

RV on the first Joe is utter horseshit. All Act 2 is doing for me so far is give me a hernia. Some of the scenes have such a small margin for error either direction that it's just stupid. You have to be incredibly spot-on. And the lack of regular save points just serves to make things worse. One time, I made it all the way to the helicopter scene at the end, and fucked up on Time there. Which means that I would have to do the entire level over again from the start. BULLSHIT, I SAY!

oh, I was on FIRE just now....haha...against BOTS of course in UC2. Adept bots though....I was playing my favorite of course...Brock. It's been awhile since I played Arclite, but that character did grow on me a bit....that will be my 2nd most used character.

I'll be glad when they finally make the bots playable....I'm curious as to what adrenaline abilities the other robots have, since the default ones--Raptor and Devastation ---aren't that great. Hopefully Corrosion and Szvgyvgy or whatever its name is has better abilities, cuz I like the Raptor design....and I usually enjoy playing as robot characters in most games. I remember enjoying E102r and Omega's segments in their respective Sonic games...even moreso than Sonic, actually.
Speaking of which, I hope they keep Omega around for future playable appearances in the Sonic universe....that's too cool a character to just let fade into obscurity....and if they ever cared to put a deeper storyline to the sonic world in the games, there's SERIOUS potential with that particular character....at least...if they took him on the same story path I imagined(*but never put to paper, due to laziness)

Corrosion and Syzygy will still have Upgrade, Radar, and Cannibalize. Those are robot-specific. And those're the skills that specifically suck (well, Radar and Cannibalize, anyway; Upgrade is meh). Raptor's unique skill, Self-Destruct, is actually fairly useful in large melees.

Well, I finally played UC2 online for the first time for about an hour and a half straight, and of course, I got owned, especially in the first 2 games. I did notice that I improved after a few more games, but I still need LOTS of practice before I'm even decent at the game.

For the time being, it seems Szalor is my character of choice until I unlock characters. I'm liking his "Predator" ability, as it seems to be the only way I can win a melee fight against Arclite, and pretty much pummels everyone else. His "Regeneration" ability last a long time, but you have to have your adrenaline at the absolute max in order to activate it.

My highlight of the night: I caught someone trying to snipe me from halfway across the map, and I deflected his shot back at him and got a head shot. The best part of it is, I actually intended to do it. It nearly brought a tear to my eye, simply beautiful.

IMHO, UC2 is the best FPS/Shooting game on Live. It's not perfect (nothing is though), but it's amazing fun. I'm only bummed that there's no clan support. I was looking forward to that, especially if an SRK clan was to be formed, but oh well.

Millon and Remy, if you guys are ever online, I'd love to get a game going...

I am tired as hell and am about to go get some sleep, but here's a small log of what I played during the con.

>Taught #R to somebody

>Everybody was diggin' everything I brought. Sometimes to the point they were asking me if they were for sale or not.

>The biggest highlight so far: A guy let me use his Turbo Duo system, and I finally beat Dracula X Rondo of Blood from beginning to end, my copy that was dying to get played for months. I got 60%. I don't care as long as I beat it, and it was on an actual Turbo Duo hardware, no emulators. That's my favorite CV game ever now. When I beat Dracula, I had that old schoolish "Take that bitch! I'm king of the world!" ego boost, he was pretty frustrating compared to the SOTN intro version.

Millon and Remy, if you guys are ever online, I'd love to get a game going...I've stopped playing until the game gets patched. IMO, there are too many imbalance issues at the moment. Melee is way too dominant (my biggest gripe), Stinger and Ripjack suck balls, and the robot class is underpowered all to hell just to name a few.

Once a patch is available that addresses those issues, I'm totally in. Live tag is WawfulStompr, I usually play Gorge, Malcolm, or Lauren.

Million
05-22-2005, 08:17 AM
eh, I don't mind the balance issues, but perhaps that's because I was only online for 1 night(*I didn't see everyone playing as 1 or 2 characters. There was only 1 other Arclite besides myself that I saw.)...my main concern was the intolerable lag. I won matches because of the lag...and I lost matches because of the lag. One match in particular, my Arclite was just frozen in midair for a long time until I just quit and had to rejoin the game. I could still see other people running around the map, but I was stuck. I WAS going to get a Live headset that comes with a 3 month subscription, but not after that experience....take care of the lag, and I'll get on with the quickness.
-Heh, yeah...I haven't used the Ripjack since way back when I first got the game....or the demo if it was in that. Speaking of which, I'll be recording some things off the demo into mp3 format later today. I like those character intros they did for Selket, Anubis, Lauren and Szalor. I'm surprised they weren't in the final game....(*there's a cool reverb sound or something after they announce the name, with the background music of one of the maps, and some "english"-sounding, kinda robotic woman voice over describes the character.)

I just remembered...I need Mechassault 2 as well. That game is incredible. The explosions are some of the best I've ever seen in a game's real-time graphics, and I like how you can steal other mechs. Hopefully the price has dropped on this, but I doubt it. I also need to get Otogi 1 and 2. How in the world were the Otogi games NOT popular?! Those games were TIGHT...it's undeniable fact.

G4 currently repeating the E3 coverage....haha DOA4 looks EXACTLY like the previous versions on the original Xbox.

I was highly dissapointed in Mechassault 2 as far as online play is concerned. There is a HUGE gameplay flaw that completely destroys the playability of the team-destruction game. Here's how it goes:

When you (re)spawn, you spawn as a human, not as a mech, and you have to run to a mech, tank, v-tol, whatever and manually get in it. All the tanks, mechs, etc, in a spawn point are usually lined up side-by-side (in team games). What happens is everyone who plays a team game goes straight for the other team's spawn point and destroys one of the mechs, which causes a chain reaction of all the mechs blowing up since they're lined up side-by-side. In the meantime, you respawn as a human, and get killed by your own mechs blowing up in a chain reaction, or from the other team's mechs stepping on you. GGPO, game has zero-playability because everyone is a fucking cunt and has to go kill you before you can even get in a mech.

Words cannot describe how dissapointed I was. Stick with the original if you intend to play online.

Latest purchases:

-The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (GBA)$20 new
-Racing Gears Advance (GBA)$30 new
-Ace Combat 2 (PS1) Got this baby "used" for $10 at GameStop but get this, it was still sealed and had the sticker label at the top on it. So while it was new it was sold to me as "used". Hey, I'm nor complainin'.

Got back into Virtua Fighter 4: Evo. I just won another tourney and got $6000. That seems like a lot of green but my current total is still only a mere $17900. And some things (like the original VF1 stage) cost $10000. Need more money NOW!! The AI players in this game are getting pretty tough. Even the 10th Daners are whupping out some serious pwnage. They won't die!! W00t!!! And I can equip 2 at a time!! Fusion Cyber Eleves, however, do die after being used. I like how you can equip the Eleves whenever you want. Right now I'm at Sega Arena Uptown arcade in VF4: Evo. I have to get 10 VF character emblems in order to enter the tourney. So far I have 3 but these fights are getting pretty ruthless. Even the lower ranked opponents should be feared because some of them are much better than the higher ranked fighters.

HULK Ultimate Desctruction. Watch the greatness at Gametrailers.com. It WILL be one of the greatest comic book based games ever created. I will not rest until someone besides me plays this particular Hulk game.(*I seemed to be the only one here who bought and/or cared about the previous one...this one is guaranteed to be infinitely better, due to free-roam gameplay style, even more Hulk moves, and more destruction.)

Last night on UC2 ---I was focusing on utilizing my "Fear" ability with Brock in various situations whenever possible. There's something so satisfying about just shutting someone else's powers down like that....I noticed the fear "energy ball" has a slight homing effect, making it kinda easy to hit someone....I wonder can it be blocked? I can't remember if I hit a bot that was in its blocking animation with Fear before...

The BEST one---bot Arclite just picked up Udamage AND activated "Unstoppable!"....heh, that's quite a dangerous sight---Arc + the purple and red aura meaning he's even stronger + invincible! No problem for me...before he could do anything about it ---"FEAR." All that shit was gone, and I killed him with a Sniper shot. Niiiiice. Later on, I noticed Corrosion repairing itself with Upgrade...I couldn't resist: "FEAR."...then I killed that sumbitch.

*I noticed that Ra has "Flash"...heh, and I still killed someone while temporarily blinded by that ability last night.(*makes sense due to the egyptian mythology reference --Ra = sun god)

There are even more Neo Arcadia scum bags to take out in Zero 3 than I thought!! Passing the trademark 8, so far there are a total of 11. I even came across this awesome helment chip for Zero. When I have him stand still he recovers energy. I can just sit outside the boss chamber if I'm low on energy and get him back to full power before the big fight!!! PWNAGE!!!

Started ascension rites in UC2 and I can confirm that I now hate using Anubis. He sucks ass and is a little bitch. Low health, crappy abilities (except for heal, thank god since he takes damage like a little bitch), and relatively weak melee damage make for a lame character.
Having to play a Nali Slaughter match against Szalor was ridiculous. Szalor is the man at Nali Slaughter.
"Predator" + Nali Slaughter = PWNED (not even the invisible Nali are safe)

Arclite is quickly becoming my most hated character. "Unstoppable" + "Concussion" = Broken morale.
Not to mention you simply cannot win a 1-on-1 melee fight vs him since he does so much damage.

Even without having played online a great deal, I can already see some of the imbalance issues that Remy is talking about. They're still not too bad though, as the game is still extremely fun online, which is much more than I can say for MechAssault 2, which is so broken, I gave up on playing it.

more UC2 of course....more of me shutting down my enemies' powers with Brock's handy "FEAR" ability. I love it....it's one of the main things I actually look forward to in each match now......I see someone activating any adrenal ability....or picking up Udamage....and I'm like a shark that just smelled blood in the water.

Today was more about using these virtual deathmatches as a good metaphor for reality.....and each kill was so satisfying as I imagined murdering the entire human race, one by one....all with special powers and cool weapons....and the wall jumping of course. I imagine each head shot as the same on a real person, in real life, and it soothes my soul. It's even more satisfying for me to put mostly human characters(*like Sapphire, Selket, etc.) in the game, so it's a more accurate representation of my murderous rampage on the rest of this disgusting species. And of course...the more female characters, the better, since I have tons of hateful feelings in that area too. There's something about pummeling Sapphire to death with Arclite's "Unstoppable" glowing fists....it's almost sexual to me; it feels damn good....and justified.

When Hulk UD comes out, it will be even easier to release my frustrations with this horrible world in a virtual environment. Words cannot truly express how much I absolutely despise the world, the way it works, and basic human nature in general.

Everything that can go wrong usually does, and any good in this world is well overshadowed by the abundance of crap and generally disappointing/depressing garbage(*1 good thing happens to you...this will be followed by 20 miserable things...all to balance our existence more towards the "GOD this place sucks" side of things)....and it's all mostly tied to the existence of our own species---the human race. My own rants could even be used as an example of the inherent evil and vindictive aspect within human nature...an aspect that easily dominates all other traits. Certain games allow me to destroy us over, and over again until I'm satisfied for the day, pretty much. Developers need to bring more God games over to consoles...as those games are even better for this particular destructive fantasy.....but of course they're too stupid to even consider it. Black and White was supposed to hit Dreamcast, but of course Sega gave up on that which in turn caused any developers with DC plans to bring that shit to a screeching halt. Now B&W2 is coming to PCs, and I doubt they'll even consider any console release at all.

I'll get in a few more "HEADSHOT!"s on Sapphire or Selket before heading off to work in a minute....I'll try Ripjack again later today, since that can cut a head off if you aim it just right. (*and it creates possibly the only good death animation in the game....I'm surprised Epic kinda cheaped out on the death animations....they look unfinished...)

About that Hulk game...
Personally, I'm not a big fan of free-roaming. I like to have a definite objective in mind at all times, and always be moving towards it. In that regard, games that use the GTA free-roam style are usually pretty short. And to me, just doing random stuff for no good reason can usually only entertain me for about 20 minutes, tops. Anyway, that's why I have little interest in the new Hulk game, if you wanted to know.

And actually, I played the first Hulk game and enjoyed it. Not the best VG ever, but certainly a pleasant romp.

I am going back and clearing some old game I bought. Right now I am playing Conker’s Bad Fur Day. I just got to the Great Mighty Poo last night. That part alone has taken this game from pretty good to fucking great! It was just too funny.

28:34 for the timeheh, yeah...those UV-level boss fights are almost as bad as the Goku vs. Freeza fight....it's like you're actually TIRED after it's over. "Tired" from a videogame!

Conker is out!?! Or are you talking about the original n64 version?

it's too much...besides Conker, I also want to get Otogi 1 and 2, Mechassault 2...and possibly part 1 as well...Hulk when it comes out, Area 51(*which looks much more interesting to me ever since I saw the commercials), Ninja Gaiden, and even Fable. Over on GC, I STILL haven't picked up Wario World or the Metroid Primes...or Prince of Persia Warrior Within.(*and I still never beat Sands of Time either --reason =PSO addiction.)

See this is why I don't get some of my fellow old school gamers who go on and on about the gaming industry just not being that great anymore...or whatever. This is better than even those glory days of 16 bit systems. There's actually too many games to keep up with...besides what I just mentioned, I didn't even touch on the ps2 games that interest me. I finally have a job and I still can't keep up with things.....this is the true golden age of gaming.

*but yah...I WILL finally get Otogi 1 and 2 this weekend, most likely. They take priority due to lack of popularity. I'm not taking the risk of waiting and waiting...and then one day I go to various stores and they have completely disappeared from existence. I've already pushed my non-existent luck by waiting around this long before seriously considering buying the Otogis.

Well I've beaten Mega Man Zero 3. The game was better than Zero 2 and possibly the original MMZ. Z3 packed some major plot twists at the end. SPOILERS!!!

Dr. Weil reveals to Zero that his body is a fake. The real Zero's body is being used by Omega to cause mass destruction. X arrives to tell Zero that although his body is a fake, his heart and soul are in his current body. Meaning, although Zero's body is fake, he is still the real Zero because his brain, heart and everything has been placed in his copy body. Omega (In Zero's original body) is destroyed by Zero. The curse on the Dark Elf is lifted. X is no longer able to stay in this world, even as a cyber elf and fades away.

END SPOILERS.

Now that I'm done playing Zero 3, I'll probably get started on Racing Gears Advance. Been wanting to play a racing game for a while now.

Currently playing FFVI. Just got through the Phoenix cave in the WoR. It's definitely a great game, but leveling up is such a pain in the ass. I hate having to jump to my menu every other battle to check my status. Then I gotta change my Espers so I get the correct bonuses. Then after a character gains a level, I have to switch the Espers again. And often, there are times when two characters are leveling up and they need the same bonus. Argh!

I'm using Terra/Locke/Edgar/Sabin. A pretty standard team I guess. Currently, boss fights are insanely easy with Morph and Bum Rush.

Well, this is my first time playing FFVI and making it this far. In my other files, I just quit by the time I got to the floating continent. Not because I hated a game - I just got distracted by other things. Now (as I'm sure most of you agree) we seem to be in a RPG slump so I've been tackling a bunch of older RPGs I have missed.

I just learned Ultima w/ Terra and got an Economizer from the Brachosaur. With the Moogle Charm in hand, I'm gonna clear out the Tower of Fanatics and get a Gem Box. Whee!

I can't stand turn-based combat or anything like it....but dammit I'm not going to be able to resist "City ov Villains" or whatever it's called....I hope there's a Mac version released, but of course I doubt it. Why can't those idiots bring these games to consoles?(City of Heroes/City of Villains) It just seems stupid to me ---
"heh, should we release it on Xbox, Ps2 and all that?.."
"Well, the installed user base of all 3 systems combined is well over 100 million players"
"...hmmmmm....nah. We don't need all that extra money."
^Morons. I dare anyone to even try bringing a legitimate reason for this. Demographic? City of Heroes/Villains would be wildly popular if marketed well. I understand how the suits would see certain other games as too much of a risk though.(*like Black and White 2...I doubt many people besides myself are into God-games. I have no idea why though....why NOT play a game where you're God? What the hell is wrong with players' lack of imagination these days? People are given the choice of being GOD in a virtual environment....or being a quarterback on a football sim, and they choose the latter? The hell? Does not compute.)

Actually, what is the advantage of keeping something on PC only these days? The industry has obviously grown....and wouldn't it only limit your profits to keep a game on PCs? If I were one of the developers or the publishers, I'd rather make as much money off my games as possible of course....PC release sure....then ports to all consoles, unless one of the consoles paid top dollar for an exclusivity deal of course.

Unreal Champ 2 ---I finally started playing with the Grenade Launcher....it's much more powerful than I thought....I never even noticed that before. Still, I think the problem is that those grenades are really easy to reflect. Alt fire proximity(or remote detonation)-mine makes for interesting possibilities though...

I forgot the name of the show, but on G4 they show even more E3 stuff on that show with Victor Lucas, Tommy Tallarico, Jade Raymond(sexpot), and Julie-from-RealWorld-Stoffer(I'd hit) They got even more details that weren't shown on the network's previous same-day coverage. For example...at least on consoles, Quake 4 will be Xbox360 exclusive! There were some other nice exclusives too, but I was so excited about the Q4 exclusivity, I forgot.

Did anyone ever try the N64 port of StarCraft? It was terrible, because it just took so much longer to manually navigate every menu, plus the fact that you couldn't set up nearly as many control groups.

Million
05-28-2005, 03:30 PM
ah, I didn't consider those, since I don't care for RTS games at all....well, except Herzog Zwei, if that counts as one. That was one of the greatest games on Genesis.

Not surprisingly, I didn't see the Otogis at Target today...but I finally bought Midway Arcade Treasures 2. I could no longer resist it. I haven't tried APB yet, but it looks fun....Pit Fighter seems exactly like the arcade!!! Narc is tight, but damn that game is much more difficult than I remember. It seems like there is just no choice but to get hit and die a LOT.

I've already played a lot of Rampage World Tour, and MK2 and 3....there are small graphical glitches I've already noticed in both games, and neither seem visually arcade perfect. haha...I'm surprised I still remember that Kabal combo---after a successful whirlwind, Lk Lk, Hp Hp, Down+Hp, jump+Lk.....and I think that pink projectile can hit after the jumping Low kick... I still can't stand the MK games' faggy ass cheap AI tactics though. That crap made the games absolutely NOT fun unless you were playing another person.

I'm on Chapter 16 in Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones right now. Holy shit, this game is hella easy compared to the last one. If arena abusing wasn't bad enough, you get infinite EXP at your disposal because you can revisit past battle sites and there's a tower where you can go to literally level every one up. Fuck leveling up and just play through it normally to get the maximum fun potential out of the game.

Some of the promotion choices that you get for your units are unbalanced as well.

That was missing in the old home versions. At least the games are fun for the first few matches, before the AI decides you will lose no matter what.

I have "acquired" the current Xbox demo disc...and Destroy All Humans is The Shit™! It's even better than I expected, and that's just my impression from a very short demo. You can have fun just with the telekinesis....just a while ago I was slamming headless* bodies of policemen into their own car, tossing chickens and cows into a small river, and flying around with my jet/hover pack. I also found some cabin style house by the lake, and there was a woman there....she screamed when seeing me, and then tried to run. Hahaha...to no avail....utilizing my handy telekinesis, I swept her up into the air, and then let go once she was over the lake. I then pulled her body out of there, and brought her down hard into the lake again.

(*headless --because I stole their brain/stems. The head explodes when you extract them.)

This will be a classic. ....a true legend. It's basically a GTA + superpowers. + Mars Attacks/general 50s Sci Fi style. Bonus cool points = ZIM voices the alien that gives your orders! They need to hurry up and release this game. I need it like Pookie needs crack.

Anyway, I just tried to abduct the one woman that was left, but I accidentally killed her in the process....and apparently you can't abduct a dead human. Unfortunately, the demo ends right at a good part...I destroyed all the surrounding buildings, and the army came in with a tank....and that was it. I would fast forward thru time just to get this game sooner if it were possible.

edit---oh, and I finally was successful in stacking dead bodies on the police car. They slid off, however, when I levitated the car. I also put a dead cow on a pickup truck, and made it fly!

Picked up Metal Slug 4 & 5 on PS2, and I'm liking it. For some strange reason, each game is on its own DVD... A bit odd, as I figured one DVD would be more than enough to contain both games. For some reason MS4 is a smidge choppy with the scrolling/animation, but MS5 is smooth. Beyond that, there are NO load times except when you first boot up the game(s). Unlimited continues, unlike MS3 for the Xbox.

Now, onto the good shit:
I just got done having a 3-hour UC2 session with my friend playing system-linked team-deathmatch, and I can say IMHO, without a doubt this it the finest online/system-link game on a console right now. This game has even eclipsed MechAssault 1 & UC1 as my favorite online console game. The demo released had dissapointed me, but the finished game is far more refined and playable. Man, I love this game...

I thought the difficulty in DMC 3 was so uneven. Shit made me stop playing the game. I have no issue with hard games but it seems like the only way to really get through the shit is to constantly replay the levels till you get enough orbs to max shit out. That made the game a lot less enjoyable. I stopped at level 10.

Anyway, I went out and spent some money I shouldn't have, but copped Jade Empire, Star Ocean: Till the end of time, Need for Speed Underground, Tenchu: Fatal Shadows, and Medal of Honor: Frontline.

Haven't touched Jade Empire or Star Ocean.

Played through a chunk of Medal of Honor. Game is really fun, but I wish I could turn up the sensativity on the analog sticks. Aiming doesn't feel as natural as it does in other FPS.

I've played about 3 levels on Tenchu. The game is better looking than the first Tenchu on PS2, but the camera is FAR worse. It's hovered so close to your character that it's extremely hard to see what's around you. It makes the game infinitely more difficult, and even more frustrating. I'm most likely going to just trade it in since I have no desire to even pick it up again. I wish I'd saved myself the 30 bucks.

Need for speed Underground is the shit, but it seems like no matter how far I outpace some one, they always end up right on my ass. That's a bit annoying.

Cool. How's the difficulty on "Dante Must Die" and "Heaven and Hell" modes though?

Dante Must Die is a great challenge. Most enemies activate Devil Trigger mode (remember on Mission 4 in the Chamber of Trials with this one chamber that had enemies activate their DT? That's kinda like a preview of things to come in DMD), the tougher enemies (like Fallen) start to appear VERY early into the game. I think even some bosses start to activate DT as well. Crazy, crazy shit.

Heaven or Hell is for HARDCORE fans only. It's simple as this: one hit and you die. With DMD difficulty. :wasted:

The levels aren't the problem. It's the bosses. They go from being mad easy to hard as fuck, and back again. That shit is stupid. The first DMC was the shit cause it ramped the difficulty up but did it evenly. This one didn't. Plus, if you want to buy health, it becomes so stupidly expensive that you have to go back through the levels in order to get enough orbs just to buy one star. That shit is retarded.

I'm not saying they should make the game super easy. I like challenging games, but making them uneven like this is really fucking stupid. You're the first person I've talked to that's disagreed with what I've had to say about it. So I'll say that makes you wrong. *LOL* *JK*

y'know, since moving, I still haven't hooked my Gamecube up yet! With Unreal Champ2, the Midway Arcade Treasures 2 I just got, and now the Destroy All Humans demo, my Gamecube playin' days may be over permanently, unless my PSO/Viewtiful Joe addiction flares up again. It's sad that there's only 2 real titles to look forward to this year for GC---Zelda, and MAYBE Geist.

--Lego Star Wars is also on that Xbox demo disc...but it's surprisingly just not as fun as I thought it would be. I still may pick it up one day when it's a super cheap price.(15 bucks or less)

-Why in the blue hell is Okami NOT a DS title?! It's just weird what kind of thought process went on behind the scenes there.....game with innovative calligraphic strokes for use as attacks and other things....hmm...DS....nah...let's put it on Ps2! It just seems like the opposite of a natural conclusion. Really, how many Ps2 fans are seriously into "different" and "original" games anyway? When I think of the average ps2 gamer, I can't help but see the stereotype that comes to mind---"Ay yo when dat new Madden comin out dawg!? Shit look tight mayne."

Okay, I see what you mean now. I misunderstood your post earlier (I though you were saying that fresh weapons = too hard; maxed weapons = too easy). Yeah, I can agree that the shop items start getting way too expensive. But that doesn't ruin the game for me, I still enjoy it.

I know that the graphics would have to be toned down (significantly), but that game just screams for touch screen input.

I was thinking about picking this up since the tracks from Super GT and Daytona 2 are in the game. It's probably pretty cheap by now too. Too bad AM2 never updated the arcade racers for the Xbox, I was really hoping they would. Instead we get Shenmue 2 (the only AM2 game I don't really care for). I'll probably trade-in DMC3 for it since I barely play the game anymore and I'll be improting 2nd Runner which was a far superior action game.

Currently trying to finish that damned gliding Secret Mission. It's really hard because of the funky ways that the camera moves around, and I don't like it.

Well, I tried it when I had about 6 DT slots, and the ability to fly (you know, after buying Air Raid for the Nevan), and it becomes quite easy as a matter of fact.

So Destroy All Humans is still coming out? Good. With a name like that, they've caught my interest.

Got my race on with Racing Gears Advance for the GBA. Even though I suck at this game it is good fun. It makes you recall the glory daces of NES racers like RC Pro AM. The controls are excellent and you have to be a master at power sliding on the sharp turns or else everything you've worked for is screwed. I've only come in 3rd and 4th place in every race so far. Thank God their is a practice mode. The game even has real licensed cars like Hummer and the Lotus.

I didn't expect to start on my GBA copy of Zelda: A Link to the Past but I guess I was feeling nostalgic. Personally, I think this game is overrated (and Zelda II very underrated) but I can't help but get sucked into this rich game. It has been YEARS since I've played it. I couldn't even remember many things shortly after Link's uncle gave him his sword. And the boss that guards the first pendant nearly killed me. I was down to my last heart. But I kept avoid him as he tried to squash me and kept smacking him with my sword and I won. Got the Peguses Boots and I'm in the 2nd dungeon to get the second pendant. It really is great to be playing this game again.

I was using Rebellion to fly. I bought the skill for Nevan, but I just don't like that weapon very much.

Incidentally, I just beat Lady and got Kalina Ann. Bought it's two firing speed upgrades and now have every weapon completely maxed as well. All that's left is to get Royal Guard from lvl 2 to lvl 3, and I'll have everything maxed.

oh yeah...it should only be a matter of days 'til Destroy All Humans. I forgot the date already, but I know it's close....but yes, there is no need to fear...the game is coming out. I also was scared it might get canned since there was awhile when there was NO news about it at all, and there's only a small number of people who care about it or know it even exists, apparently. Might be time for whoever is publishing it (Pandemic, I think?) to start doing this crazy little thing we like to call "hype". People won't buy your games if they don't even know they exist.

The demo is quite restricting though...it's frustrating. Basically, you learn about reading thoughts of animals and people, kill the cows...then there's 2 segments where humans attack you(*opportunity to use his electricity gun), and the last thing is to destroy some buildings with the spaceship....

speaking of the ship, I was able to stack the smoldering wreckage of the police car on top of my ship...as well as a body or 2. Of course they disappeared when I got in the ship to use the death ray. That would've been funny if they let me fly around with dead bodies on top of my ship.

That last living woman on the stage...I finally got her with the Abduction ray...but I couldn't get her all the way up into the ship...so....I carried her with that abductor ray for awhile, until we were over the small lake/pond, then I dropped her off there.

Zelda: A Link to the Past-The 3rd pendant is the most annoying to get. Why? Because of that freaking centepede boss. I just wish I remembered where to get the 2nd shield for Link because that blue piece of crap just isn't gonna cut it.

Racing Gears Advance-I came in 2nd overall in my first championship race. I unlocked the Dodge Viper GTS. Interestingly enough each car has its own amount of money to make. So when you do a championship mode, the money you get will only be kept on that particular car.

So I started noticing that the number of the current mission is hidden somewhere in each cut scene at the beginning of the mission. I first noticed this on Mission 20, and have since spotted most of them during my second playthrough (currently on M14).

*minor spoilers*
1- On the pizza box
2- On the billboard at the very end, upper left corner
3- After they collapse, the enemies that Lady toasts with her motorcycle
4- UNKNOWN
5- The splater of blood from the bloodgoyle that Dante splits and throws into a wall
6- The charring pattern on the ground from Lady's rocket
7- The bloodstain that Dante wipes onto the wall after getting shot
8- UNKNOWN
9- A bullet casing during the shootout where Dante and Lady team up temporarily
10- Bloodspattering that spills onto Arkham's book after Vergil stabs him
11- Twin bloody drag marks at Arkham's feet.
12- Jester's staff and the metal thing that he swings from together
13- UNKNOWN
14- Carved into the rock that the cutscene ends on
...
20- In the clouds near the end

Anyway, if anyone could point out 4, 8, or 13 for me, I'd be much obliged.

That just means you need to make a new deck. Think about what it takes to beat a mission, and build around that. But the difficulty varies. Just make a solid initial deck and you should be fine, excluding a few survival/final missions.

Well, I completed FFVI. Kefka wasn't too bad. Quick is such a cheap spell.

Anyway, I'm now playing through Vagrant Story. I really love the atmosphere of this game, and it's one of my favorite PSX RPGs. The only real drawback is that I never know what the hell I'm doing. The whole combining/weapon types/affinity thing is a little confusing. I've got all Hagane equipment and a few silver weapons, but bosses are still a pain in the ass despite my affinity against them. I usually rely on Heal and Reflect Damage to get the job done.

You just go around killing these teletubby-ish creatures who are trying to impose their perfect nice-nice ways on the world.....it's beautiful. The character Raze has some interesting ways of killing these guys too....I like the rolling attack where he bowls them over....when they get hit hard from this, blood flies everywhere, and they smack the screen! To regain health, you have to inhale their bloody remains! NICE! This is great fun at only 20 bucks, folks. Sadly, I bet there's a lot of negative reviews on it simply because the media side of our beloved industry has become almost as snobbish and pathetically uptight about things as critics in the film industry. They'd jump at the chance to look down on a game like this, regardless of whether or not it's fun.

Forget whatever the reviews are saying, pick this one up when ya see it....I get a feeling it will be another one of those games few people know about that will eventually disappear.

I also finally got Otogi part 1...I'll get to that later on...it was just 12 bucks!

I played about 3 and a half hours worth of UC2 online last night. I was using one Xbox to host a dedicated server, and playing on the other. I may start a separate thread for Raze's Hell later on, to make sure the good word is spread. I just noticed...even the game's manual is of surprisingly good quality considering this is a "budget title".

Oh yeah....and so far it appears that Raze is under the tutelage of Satan. 1. several bosses are practically straight rips from the first game
2. no secret characters (first had 3 or 4 depending on version)
3. humor is much weaker

Other problems include some really annoying/lame characters (both in terms of personality and in terms of method to fight them), much easier, Sylvia pretty much sucks, some of the bosses have rediculous health meters on UV (Frost Tiger has 18 meters), and finally the game just doesn't ooze with style like the first did.

Raze's Hell just got rediculous in terms of difficulty. I'm at a stage where the Kewletts are all over the place...there's really no place to hide even for a second. Air is covered by helicopters, and there's some super-cheap ass turret they have on one segment that shoots rapid fire yellow laser shots or something...and I still haven't figured out a way around that. Raze simply is not quick enough to dodge the shots....if you're seen by that thing, you're dead.

Speaking of which, the game is now $20 new. Game made the Player's Choice lineup. I'll be getting that sucker soon. My 'Cube could use some more loving.

More on Wario Ware: Twisted! This is a great game but I don't like having to twist and spin my GBA SP for the majority of the games I play. Don't get me wrong, this is a cool idea but I miss using the control pad for the mini-games. You still use the A button in a lot of games but the twisting of the GBA takes priority most of the time over everything else. I think they overdid it with that. As a result, I think I like the original Wario Ware better but I still enjoy Twisted!

But I did unlock 9-Volt today. Dude has the best mini-games in Twisted! NO ONE and I mean, NO ONE has mini-games that tops 9-Volts. Baseball, Super Mario Bros. 3, Balloon Fight, The Legend of Zelda, Kid Icarus, Mach Rider, Metroid. The way these games are done on here just rocks. I need to find some spirtes for Wario Ware characters so I can use them for avatars.

Got a question. I didn't play for a month after I saved during my fight with The End. I started the game up and he died because I let him down. Does this happen when you don't play the game for awile or is it just the way it ends?

you've GOT to be fucking kidding me here....on Otogi...I can change the control configuration...but apparently the camera/view controls on the right analog stick will ALWAYS be inverted? Who's the cunt-licking bitch who thought this up? Shit is backwards as hell. Right moves my view left, and Up = down and all taht retarded flight-sim bullshit....I can't play like this. Seriously...I can adjust to nearly everything BUT inverted retard controls.

okay, this game (Raze's Hell) is just fucking impossible. I still can't get past that stage, and I've been playing that off and on for the past 2 days now. If you get past something, there's always something else that WILL gun you down in .002 seconds. This might even be worse than Halo 2 Legendary Cairo Station, and this is just the game's "normal" difficulty. So I destroyed the cunt-sucking helicopter, but then a Kewtenator popped up right in front of me and the other guy's face....fortunately I still had the explosive ammo, so I killed him as quickly as possible with that....I needed more health, so I ran over to inhale the bloody chunks before this Kewtenator got back up, since they're seemingly infuckingvincible unless you completely destroy the body....and of course, I look up to see THREE missiles headed my way. Raze isn't fast enough to even try dodging this = I'm dead in that instant 3-hit combo of missiles(*from near full health)....I have to start over from where I was about 15 to 20 fucking minutes ago, so I gave up for tonight.(*thus avoiding my growing temptation to throw the game itself out the window out on the street) It wouldn't be so bad if I could at least start back over at the part where I meet up with the "Ancient Elder" or whatever his name is.....but nooooo....there's a lot of shit to go through before getting to that point, and no checkpoint....so you just have to go thru it all again for the 900th time you died.

this is starting to get to Battletoads-level bullshit....where I'm beginning to get skeptical of anyone who claims to have beaten this game without the cheats....on normal or higher. I'm not totally there yet in Battletoads-Skepticism™, but things are headed in that direction.

edit----Otogi---that's really messed up that they'd let you change the controller configuration....EXCEPT for the orientation of the right analog stick for looking around. This has to be one of the dumbest options-screwups in the entire history of gaming. It's not even just up and down that's reversed...."right" apparently makes me look left. If this was an actual decision rather than a case of them forgetting....whoever's idea it was....they need to be shot in the face. I'll just try to get thru the game with as little usage of that right stick as possible....and it's already made things much more difficult than they should be. This is really just unacceptable....and yet again I'm in the mood to repeatedly punch a random Sega employee in the face.

but anyway...perhaps this might be one of the reasons nobody bought this damn game.

Sorry to hear that your game isn't going well, Million.

Myself, I'm starting to get a bit bored with DMC3. I may just finish Hard and call it quits for a while. Come back and do Dante Must Die after taking a short breather.

Kirby's Canvas Curse comes out next week, that's a must-have for me.

Wario Ware: Twisted!-Ugh! I'm still stuck on Wario Man's last microgame called Turn It Up. I can make it through the whole session of games without losing a life but when Turn It Up comes, I just lose it. This particular games makes you watch movemntes of dancers in the background and then mimic them. I just have problems with the speed and timing when I'm almost done with it. Speaking of Wario Ware anyonewith a Nintendo DS have WW: Touched? How good is it compared to the GBA WWs?

On Racing Gears Advance, the competition beefs up their rides in the same manner I do. Some of the races are getting pretty tough. My 1st engine upgrade may not cut it much longer since I didn't even make the top 3 in the 2nd Championship race. I like how you can change your tires before races. This keeps me from having to constantly buy new sets of dirt, snow and pavement tires. Although I'm sure I'll buy superior sets of tires as I go on. The AI plays dirty too. They are ruthless with those oil slicks. Not only that but they know where those short cuts are and they use them all the time. I think I'll head into practice mode to find out where all the short cuts are.

On Zelda: A Link to the Past, I've just gotten the 2nd cystal and I'm now in the 3rd dungeon in the Dark World. I finally found the shop to buy the red shield, which is a good thing too because I was getting lit up like a Christmas tree in the 2nd dungeon by enemies firing projectile weapons. BTW, I gave the mushroom to thw friendly witch in the Light World and she gave me some weird powder to sprinkle on enemies and such. I don't think I ever found out what that was for. Anyone know?

Haven't sold DMC3 yet. I'm only at mission5, think I'll finish this first since I'm still having a little fun with it. I'm gonna rent GoW here in a few just to what the hype is all about(good and bad).

I need to import Z.O.E 2 : 2nd Runner SE and get my PS2 modded.

Raze's Hell---Well, I didn't resort to cheating...but I did just turn the difficulty down...and I BARELY made it by that level. Finally I took down the helicopter, blew up the Kewtentator that appears, and took out the missile-launching bitch that was off in the distance...I stunned him with a short burst of Ripper fire, and rolled up on him literally before he could do anything about it. Then, something REALLY cool happens that I won't spoil here for whoever happens to be interested in this great game.

And now I'm on a level that's much, much worse...there's absolutely nowhere to hide, because the enemies come from all directions...

Remember those enemies that look like skulls with red spheres spinning around them that bounce all over the place and steal your magic when they hit you (they are mostly in dungeons)? Sprinkle them with Magic Powder, and they turn into fairies. You can also try to sprinkle the old lady who is sweeping her front door in Kakariko Village for some random fun. :bgrin:

You can also kill him with a sniper rifle when a soldier carries him off in a wheel chair but you have to be quick about it or he goes past a door as it closes. And the stage you fight him is replaced with soldiers.

Oh thanks. I know just the enemies you're talking about.

The more I play Zelda: A Link to the Past, the more I like it. I hate to admit it, but I think it really is my fav of the Zelda series. Well maybe I need to go back and play Ocarina of Time before I admit to that. Now that game was a true masterpiece.

I went to Game Crazy for the first time today. Walked out with:

Duck Tales, NES
1942, NES
Streets of Rage 2, Genesis
X-Men: Mutant Apocolypse, SNES
Kickle Cubicle, NES
Batman Returns, SNES

I loved Batman Returns on the SNES. Game was a tight beat 'em up back in the day it had some awesome mode 7 levels. Music was tight too. Konami with the Batman license = PWNAGENESS.

Never played 1942 and I was curious. But seeing as how it was around back in the original Ghosts & Goblins days of the Arcade/NES era, this game is probably seriously tough.

Streets of Rage 2. What more do I need to say. Although I've never played the actual Genesis version, only the Sega Smash Pack DC version.

Never played X-Men: MA but I heard it was good. And it was cheap.

I heard Kickle Cubical was the bomb. And it too, was cheap.

Duck Tales. Back in the day Disney games were the bomb and Capcom rocked with it. BTW, anyone ever play the NES or Game Boy versions of Darkwing Duck? I was a HUGE fan of that show and seeing as how Capcom made DWD, I'd love to check that game out. But I'd like to know the thoughts from someone who played it. Sigh. Disney games just aren't what they used to be.

Well, now that I have both Dracula X Rondo of Blood on my newly acquired PC Engine Duo-R, and Dracula XX for my Super Famicom system, I've just been on a Castlevania binge, I own a great number of the games (time for me to give Castlevania it's own thread). For just the past several days I've been going back and forth between the two games.

Because I've already beaten Rondo of Blood before, I'm just all about finding the hidden passages that branch off into different stages, doing the same on ADXX. So far got these following stages:
Stage 1
Stage 1b
Stage 2
Stage 2b
Stage 3
Stage 4
Stage 4b
Stage 5
Stage 5b
Stage 6
And I still ain't found the other 2 Reinard sisters
Otherwise, I'm on stage 6 (medley of bosses from the very first Castlevania). fuckin' hard I tell ya! First the bat, medusa, mummies, frankenstein, then the one and only....SHAFT!

I'm trying to do it all with Richter.

That game is the fucking truth. It is one of the first puzzle games I have ever played and I love every moment of it. If you want some classic adventure games, go pick up Startropics 1 & 2.

Oh yeah that reminds me all those games Reggie picked up are all awesome.

Batman Returns for SNES = best Batman game ever. The music for one of its reasons.

And to think my copy of Duck Tales for NES has watched me grow up. Had it since my elementary school era.

I finally decided to jump in on this discussion. I too like to juggle many games at once, trying to beat the devil within game for Tekken five, but its not really worth the effort and I find my self In practice mode with yoshimitsu all to often. To who ever asked about Wario Ware : Touched! Its a must have for all ds owners, the touch screen is pretty much used to its fullest and there are so many goddamn toys to unlock. I picked up a copy of Final Fantasy Anthologies for PSX and have been playing 3(6). Also bought Fire emblem sacred stones, and Its way more than I expected. Its got the same system and slightly touched up graphics from the last one but with a whole lot more character classes.
