Just beat Dracula XX on my Super Famicom.
I guess I should take a stab at Symphony of the Night, after all it is part of the Dracula X branch of the CV series. And to think I never quite got along with the Metroidvania thing.

Shield guy. Being able to block > *. You just have to be a bit patient, since you will then be mostly relying on the CPU teammates to kill stuff, and they're not too bright.
how long is it anyways? i got near the end of hallway with the red spiders i think.

Eh, I don't recommend using Seth in the earlier levels. He starts out a pretty high level and hogs up all the experience points that should be going towards your other units. Bench him for now and bring him out in the later chapters.

The levels aren't the problem. It's the bosses. They go from being mad easy to hard as fuck, and back again. That shit is stupid. The first DMC was the shit cause it ramped the difficulty up but did it evenly. This one didn't. Plus, if you want to buy health, it becomes so stupidly expensive that you have to go back through the levels in order to get enough orbs just to buy one star. That shit is retarded.
I'm not saying they should make the game super easy. I like challenging games, but making them uneven like this is really fucking stupid. You're the first person I've talked to that's disagreed with what I've had to say about it. So I'll say that makes you wrong. *LOL* *JK*Sorry to bring up an old debate, but I have now actually had some experience with the first game and have a rebuttal.
The first game's difficulty is uneven too. It took me 12 tries to beat Phantom the first time you meet him, and 7 to beat the first Shadow that you encounter. But I took Nelo Angelo down the first time I got there, and Griffon on the second attempt. The difficulty in the first game is just as rubberband as in 3.
Shop items are just as retardedly expensive as in 3 as well. Okay, a Vitality Star doesn't cost as much. But weapon upgrades are more expensive and you make money slower in this one. It took me five missions to get Alastor fully upgraded, as opposed to the one mission each in 3.
But anyway, it is still a good game. I am very much enjoying myself. I just feel that the original is just as rubberband in terms of difficulty and retarded in terms of shop item cost as 3 is. Personally, I liked 3 better. The combat system is more fun, IMO, and there is a better selection of weapons.
Also, I love how Al from VJ is exactly like the Alastor from DMC. When I found the sword with the bat-wing hilt sticking out of the wall, and it said "I am Alastor! The weak shall give their hearts and swear their eternally loyalty to me!" I almost shit myself. Al says the same thing in VJ2 when he transforms. And then when I started doing Vortex and Air Raid and High Voltage and Round Trip... It was good.
In other news, I'm a total nerd.:bgrin:

Whoa! Fighter X is still with us afterall. Welcome back, dude!
I forgot to post that I beat Metal Slug X Sunday night. It was cool how you ended up joining forces to defeat the aliens that turned traitor on the bad guys. Never could trust those extratur-whatcha-magems. The game has some nice extras like Combat School. This is one of this games I'll pop in from time to time not just because it offers old-school fun but because of the extra challenges. The Metal Slug series ranks right up there with the Contra games in my book. Heck, it may even be better than Contra. Now I just need to play the first MS, MS2 and MS3. Since I watched my brother-in-law play MS4, I may was well start that.
I haven't given up on Zelda: A Link to the Past. In fact, I got past that annoying 4th dungeon in the Dark World this afternoon. Once I obtained The Big Key, everything just fell into place. The boss, Blind was even more of a pain than I remember. Multiple heads and fireballs make for a deadly combination. And now my sword is up to level 3!! W00t!! Is there a way to get Link's sword up to level 4 or is 3 the highest it will go?

Yes, there is a way to attain level 4 of the Master Sword, the GOLDEN Master Sword. You do recall where Link's House is in the Dark World? It's a Bomb Shop now. At some point of the game, the owner will sell a Super Bomb. Once you buy this baby, go take it back to the Pyramid of Power (the centerplace of the Dark World, ya can't miss it) and set it on the crack that won't budge with normal bombs. This will take you to a Fairy Shrine. Throw in your Master Sword, and BOOM! Level 4.

I played some DBZ: Supersonic Warriors a few days ago. Playing on Normal with Krillin, I actually got a power level rating of over 30 million. The highest I ever got was with Piccolo, which was more than 63 million. I think I was battling Freeza. But getting a PL of over 30 mill with Krillin against Goku... that's pretty impressive in my book. I was fighting with LV1 characters but still. OK, Atari, where is Supersonic Warriors 2?

I also started playing Destroy All Humans, and man, is that game awesome. I love the classic 50's theme going on in the game, and the dialog is hilarious. Definately another X-box must-own game.

Halo 2 ---heh, I can't believe we were actually on a winning team on Collosus....normally I can't stand that piece of shit map. It's like fighting in the world's largest mall with unnecessary structures all over the place.....it's way too big, it's a hassle to even find people to kill, and it's just boring. Knight class sucks. Go Monk early on, then let your characters build from there.
Stationary skills that don't require anything-- Monk's chakra, for example, are awesome for building job points in weaker characters. Make monk their subclass, then have them stand around doing it.

i played FFT a long time ago and left out at chapter 4. I picked it up again, and it's highly addictive.
I've got Ultima and Genji equipment.....worthless
i've got these highly trained generics with almost every class mastered, but now in chapter 4 i've got those newbs and i've got start all over again. I'm almost done with Orlando and Agrias but i've got a long way to go with Meliadoul and Beowulf.
Is it me or is Ninja with Marial Arts stronger than anything else? I hear people talk about knights with two swords and it was lame too slow not enough power.....
EDIT: WTF???!! I can't start Cloud's quest even though i bought the flower from Aeris. I think i need to get that stone (activate the machine built from mustadios's dad) with the 2 circles with tails sign (Gemini?), but it looks like i don't have it. Where do i get it?

I always just took the two-swords ability and put it on other stuff.
Ninja class sucks, that is the only good skill it has. I don't want to throw my weapons away! And Knight is good with two swords since the stat hits on knight class strike twice. Awesome way to level is picking a map, buffing the knight, then smacking the shit out of the enemy's speed until it drops to 1-- you'll be doing -6 speed a turn. Then do the same for power, etc while using stationary skills for the rest of your party.

I really liked that game...
Up until the big plot twist. The twist itself is interesting, but afterwards Stranger doesn't look as cool, and you no longer get to select bounties to hunt, you just play a linear set of levels with few bosses. And there is really no longer any reason to take enemies alive, removing a lot of the strategy. But the first three towns, where you go after bounties, is great fun. And Stranger looks like a badass.

If Atari knows what's good for them, then they had better publish that sucker in America. I'm going to pick up a DS later on and I'd love to play that game.
Opened two games that were sitting in shrink wrap for months: Sword of Mana and Yu Yu Hakusho Dark Tournament. YYH: DT isn't a bad game but the controls for certain moves are just ridiculous with some seriously screwed up inputs and timing involved. I love how the game uses clips from the anime to tell the story and I'm a HUGE YYH fan. Heck, even the characters feel different from one another but those tricky controls... ugh. I'll play it a bit more but this game has nothing on DBZ: Budokai 3.
As for Sword of Mana, the AI of my partner is... well she's about as smart as a rock. She's killed a few enemies, sure but on the whole, I'd like to reach through my TV screen and back hand her. But I can't really say I hate the game. It has some sweet graphics and some good music and it is the prequel to one of my favorite video games of all-time: Secret of Mana. But I was hoping for more out of this game. Well it has only been 52 minutes in so I should probably play more of it.

It's been awhile since a game got such a good laugh out of me. The interesting thing is....I ended up saying the right things to the crowd at least most of the time, and passed that part on my first try....now I wonder if it's possible to screw up that part, and if so, what happens...?
anyway, later onI had a tight battle with The Majestic. "Men in Black" is such an awesome urban myth....it can be used in so many interesting ways in a story.(*MIB" movies/comics, The Matrix, etc.) Oh yeah....they had no chance. I DESTROYED them like it was nothing. They get cool weapons though...

Well, just in case you haven't checked yet, in the Light World, use the flute, and select destination point #5 (or maybe #6, the one that drops you in the desert). You will be carried to a ledge you couldn't normally access. Beneath one of the rocks lies a portal to the Dark World, and you will be transported directly to the Dark World's swamp, where dungeon #6 is located.

You're honestly better off figuring everything out yourself.
If all else fails, stick Marche and another party member as Fighters (LEARN AIR RENDER BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE), stick your bangaa as a Dragoon, stick Montblanc as a Gunner and Juggler for status ownage, have your typical magic user master everything it can, and work your female through the Archer and Sniper stages onto Red Mage.
And once the clan wars begin, level up religiously. You'll end up with a stockpile of money to buy whatever you want before you know it. The Consentrate support ability is broken as all hell, so learn it as soon as you can. Also, get used to tapping the A button to raise your chances of a sucessful attack. Anything below 55% is going to be a bitch to connect.
Oh, and don't forget to master Thief because after a short while, you'll either have to steal or level up your clan through missions to get new items.
---EDIT---
ALWAYS SAVE YOUR GAME WHENEVER POSSIBLE BEFORE HEADING INTO BATTLE, AND ALWAYS CHECK OUT THE LAWS FIRST.
This can save you a shit storm of trouble in the long run, especially since if you don't like the set of laws and you still have a couple of days before a mission ends, you can move around the map and have them change to something that might work a little better.
Oh, and remember: THE DMG:ANM LAW IS FOR WILD MONSTERS ONLY. Moogles, Bangaa, Nu Mou, etc. are exempt so you can whomp on them till your heart's content.

SO3 has the same major problems as FFX, except worse.

It's Pretty good. I made a review on it at Gamefaqs. The game is pretty long and theres tons to do. Also, the battle system is pretty good.

Went to my buddy Brandon's place. We haven't hung out in like a month and a half. Anyway, we played Metal Slug 4. I really can't see why any old-school players wouldn't like this game. It is full of trigger finger action, huge bosses, vehicles to board and well designed stages. In short, pure Metal Slug goodness. We beat the game but we never checked out MS5 so I might play that tonight.
We also played KOF 2003. Man, this game is so freaking tight. I didn't know more than half the fighters in the game because I've never really been into KOF but I was loving this game. I rocked it with Terry and even Ryo was pretty good in this game. Lots of different modes and tons of fighters to choose from. How come KOF games are never at Evo? And how come KOF never gets much love for that matter? I think I've found another fav 2D fighting series that ranks right up there with SF.
My first Official US PlayStation Magazine came in the mail today. It came with a demo of Destroy All Humans!! Can't wait to check this out!!

Crusader-- rent or borrow Star Ocean. Or buy it used, to see if you like it or not to take it back. Either you'll love it or you'll hate it.
Million-- You need to play Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath. Either Best Buy for 29.99, or that Circuit City deal may have it.
I just beat it. I'm satisfied, but I still think they fucked up on the last quarter of the game. The final boss was the easier than any other boss in the game-- including the first one. Hell, it was easier than the average grunt in the final levels.

The major problem with this game is how fucking hard it is to kill stuff. Point-blank riot slugs still aren't 100%, and while eating shots from those machinegun guys, you don't have long to take stuff out.Personally, the corpse -> ammo system used in the later areas makes the game too easy because it basically gives you infinite ammo. A dead guy sucks up fast, and still gives you a decent supply of ammo. I pretty much ran around using Super Stingbees, Boombat Seekers, and Riotslugs with impunity. On the rare occasion that you run across a solitary guy or two, you can easily take them alive and make up any small ammo differential you may be missing.
But goddamn, that bounty-hunting part of the game was awesome.
EDIT: Did you catch everything alive too? I had about 15k when they stole all my shit.co-sign, and yes. Well, all of the gang leaders anyway. I did kill some of the basic thugs. But I took as many of them as I felt I could alive.

Well, most KOF haters like to say "OMG the grafiX SuXor! Eet looks like SNES!". But ah well, to each their own, I guess....
I assume you're playing the console version, right? The one that comes along with KOF 2002 in one package? I suggest you give 2002 a spin...it's considered by most players as the best KOF game (it's still second best to me, behind KOF '98). It also has much more characters than KOF 2003, and the HSDMs, even though some are utterly useless (and some insanely hard to pull out), they are still fun to watch for the most part (especially Angel's).

Weapon tiering--
Sting bees were useless, damage was too light to be effecting. Super Sting Bees were probably the best weapon in the game. Did tons of damage, stunned enemies, and had just enough homing to maintain easy locks.
Normal: C

Spiders I discovered too late in the game, but they were the shit even normally. They bind stuff for a really long time, commonly found, and makes the harder enemies simple as pie. The upgrade was icing. Upgrade was best weapon of game, IMO.

Stunkz, or whatever they were called, are the worst weapons. They needed to stun for longer, or have some other effect. The upgraded ones were too good-- they should have made them available sooner. Would have made a lot of areas simpler, and I wouldn't have detested those fucking skunks so much.
Normal: F-
Upgrade: A
Stun Slugs were pretty much only for bosses and heavy-type enemies. I'm more accustomed to the shotgun being the general use weapon than a specific one. Riot slugs were good-- but the damage they did was really iffy. Point-blank shots didn't always kill, which is lame.

KOF 2000 and 2001 are not precisely the epitome of KOF playing (KOF 2000 has many retarded striker combos, almost as bad as any MvC 2 assist, and KOF 2001 is riddled with some more retarded shit), but I guess they're good if you don't take them too seriously. And if you play KOF 2001...you WILL learn to hate the last boss, Igniz, in a hurry. I find him hard to beat, even with the 1/3 energy handicap you can impose when you continue.

Again: BUY Destroy All Humans immediately. The game is too much fun...especially if you happen to already have a negative opinion of human beings in the first place. The game is actually a bit light-hearted in tone, but it's perfect to unleash your dark hatred for this pathetic species. I just had a great battle with "The Majestic", and they really had no chance against my superior powers and technology. heh, and they finally let me play with the Ion Detonator on this stage? Too tight....they never stood a chance.
That's not to make this game sound like a cakewalk though. You still have to approach any serious battle with the authorities with some common sense and strategy. You can't just go charging in like you're absolutely invincible....Crypto can still be overwhelmed especially by the Army or the Majestic.
hehe...and I still love making people shit with that anal probe. It adds a nice touch of destroyed dignity to go along with all the death and destruction.
oh, and I'm not just going on endless rampages here...I'm actually progressing thru the game. I beat 2 more missions today, so I'm probably closer to the halfway mark...I guess...

Yeah, KOF '98 is the best for me, I thought I mentioned that earlier? But yeah, I like KOF '98 the best, in a Super Turbo kind of way...I mean, it's old, it may have not as many bells and whistles as the newer KOF games (HSDM, LDM, Counter/Armor modes, strikers), but it's so damn solid in the terms that it's very much balanced. Yes, it does have its' top tier, but many characters can compete with them, and few matches are totally helpless. The game engine also isn't so over the top, it just feels right. The thing that I feel that keeps KOF 2002 from being #1 is the MAX combos...they just seem too powerful, and look kinda retarded. But some people like it, so meh....

Upgrade: AVery true.
Spiders I discovered too late in the game, but they were the shit even normally. They bind stuff for a really long time, commonly found, and makes the harder enemies simple as pie. The upgrade was icing. Upgrade was best weapon of game, IMO.
Normal: A
Upgrade: A+I disagree with this one. Personally, I dislike the Bolablasts, and preferred the Bolamites with the reload speed-up and the clip increase. When I upgraded to the Bolablasts, I really missed being able to rapidly fire off three in a row. It allowed me to still take care of enemies that were more spread-out quickly. And besides, you don't have time to scoop up all three guys when they're wrapped at the same time. At least one would get free before you were done.
Stunkz, or whatever they were called, are the worst weapons. They needed to stun for longer, or have some other effect. The upgraded ones were too good-- they should have made them available sooner. Would have made a lot of areas simpler, and I wouldn't have detested those fucking skunks so much.
Normal: F-
Upgrade: A Regular Stunkz could be used on the Nailers. Hit them with a Stunkz and immediately begin sucking, and you could bounty them alive off of the one time they puke. But for the most part, I agree. Stunkz sucked, Spark Stunkz were pretty good.
Stun Slugs were pretty much only for bosses and heavy-type enemies. I'm more accustomed to the shotgun being the general use weapon than a specific one. Riot slugs were good-- but the damage they did was really iffy. Point-blank shots didn't always kill, which is lame.
Normal: B
Upgrade: B+The Zapfly/Thudslug combo made taking most of the bosses pretty easy. You could also use Thudslugs to knock out an enemy from long range, allowing you time to run up and bounty them before they regained consciousness, making them better than Bolamites at a distance. The Riotslugs were a Godsend in the last portion. Extremely good against the big metal tank things (and maybe the ghosts, too? Can't remember for sure), and also fairly reliable against basic thugs.
Zapbugs were... Zapbugs. I could always count on them, and they never let me down. Surprised me, too, when I wound up sniping things that seemed like they should have been out of range.
B+Also very true. Extremely reliable for the "weak, infinite ammo" weapon of the game.
Chipunks needed the multi-target from the start. The upgrade Skunks > Chippunk upgrade.
Normal: C-
Upgrade: C+Very disagree. Chippunk/Bolamite and Chippunk/Fuzzle were very reliable in the earliest portions of the game. They were the only weapon that could draw enemies away from each other. You could use them to lure single enemies into cover, then ambush them. Whittle the numbers down over time to take less damage over all. It just took some patience. Worthless in the last area, since stealth is neither neccessary nor even viable.
Fuzzies were really dependent. But they didn't do enough damage until the upgrade, even if they did have their uses.
Normal: C+
Upgrade: BAgreed. Key in some situations, worthless in others. Neccessary for taking Jo Momma alive though.
Boombats were too good, but somewhat rare.
Normal: B+
Upgrade: APersonally, my pick for best weapon. Only thing that was really reliable against big groups of guys, and in the final portion where you can get ammo so easily, they really shine.
As for Wasps, what can I say? Basic sniping weapon. Not good in big melees or against enemies that have seen you, but if you have cover and the terrain allowed for it, they can save you from a lot of hits. Unfortunately for snipe-happy people, the terrain didn't allow for it much in this game.

The max level in the game is 20/20, meaning 20 levels unpromoted, and another 20 levels after promotion, but trainee units like Ross go 10/20/20.
And yeah, when you beat the game you can do the Creature Campaign which is basically wandering around the world map and killing everything that pops up.

Well I'm gonna go to Game Crazy some time this week to trade some more games in. So long Yu Yu Hakusho: Dartk Tournament. So long Sword of Mana. I don't really think I'll miss either of these games along with the rest that I'm trading in.
I opened up my copy of Space Channel 5: Special Edition. Fun game but tough, just like most music themed games are for me. I was thinking about trading it in but I think I'll keep it. I had fun playing the first level and that groovy music just sticks with me for some odd reason.
Played a little bit of X-Men Mutant Apocolypse. Not a bad game but it is on the tough side. I thought about keeping it but I'm not sure.

Well since I'm a KOF newbie, I figured I'd start my training. I sat down and played some KOF 2000 this afternoon. Beat arcade mode. The boss, Zero had this one move that paralizes you and then he breaks out this 6 hit combo on you or something. I got caught in that mess twice. The move wreaked of cheese but I take that over *shudders* Rugal and Geese Howard any day. Like Iori and K, those guys DO NOT screw around. I discovered the awesomeness that is Kim. Dude is a bonafide kick master. I think I actually like him better than Terry. Well at least as far as KOF 2000 goes. Kyo is also pretty tight. One thing I like about the KOF series is that there is a near equal amount of women fighters as their is to men. I mean in SF, there are only a handful of babes but in KOF, you can't go through the fighter roster without crossing a ton of hottie fighters.

I beat that game too when I was younger. I think it was the first non-fighting game to feature fighting game motions. That alone made it good  . I'm sure it was made because there was no way in hell COTA could have been ported to the SNES in any recognizable form so, instead, Capcom did the next best thing and made Magneto a real bitch to beat.

I just started playing X3 last night. Only got past the intro stage. Maybe I should kill Crush Crawfish first.
Lufia II. Good stuff! Good story, great music. I have the whole soundtrack in MIDI formate. Even there, it is excellent. Loved the boss theme in that game.
Well I played KOF 2001 and I must say it pounces all over KOF 2000. KOF '01 has smoother spirtes (and shinner ones at that), better music, sweet art design and is overall a much better game. That isn't to say I didn't have fun with KOF '00 but compared to '01, it just doesn't stack up. Party Mode rocks. I've already unlocked several Arcade version stages. And K9999 is awesome. I don't know what tier he'd be ranked in but he is easily one of my favorites. The two things that irked me about '01: the final two bosses. I made it past the first guy only after 1/3 that mother's life guage. That other son of a... well even 1/3rding his life didn't do much. That cheap scrub has moves and combos that can knock off more than half your life and your Strikers may as well be urinating on him because they do JACK in the damage department.

Flipnic-Played a demo of this game. I never was too good at pinball games or even real life pinball but this game offers an ineresting take on the genre with lively tables. From what I've read, the pinball physics are dead on and for $20, pinball freaks may want to check it out.
Destroy All Humans-This was also a demo but I enjoyed what little that I did play. Krypto is excellently voiced and the 1950s theme is uber cool. I was laughing out loud when I saw a cow take a dumb. And tossing cows = priceless. I can even read the thoughts of people and animals. And jolting those foolish humans was so much fun. And I even took out a farmers brain and added it to Krypto's. And then I got to board my space ship and blew stuff up!!! That was so much freaking fun!! I'll be buying this game for sure but I don't wanna pay $50 for it. I'll wait for a price drop.

Metal Slug 4 & 5 is killer. And in MS5... YOU CAN SLIDE!! :wow: Sliding in a MS game = top tier. Both of these games were well worth the money. Why some fans would dislike MS4 is beyond me. Cool bosses, sweet level designs, twitch finger action, etc.
Serious Sam: The Next Encouter really surprised me. I've had this game for more a year now and I finally sat down and played it. I went through the first two levels racking up tons of combos on kills. Nevermind intricate level designs or gripping stories. It's all about the KILLAN!!! Blood, gore!! Lots of gore!! I love it!! And the chainsaw is tightness. I can't believe I even thought about trading this in. This game is a keeper.

Cool bosses, sweet level designs, twitch finger action, etc.Well, like I said earlier, it isn't that 4 or 5 are particularly bad, it's just that 2, X, and 3 are so infinitely superior that it isn't even funny. I disliked the fact that new characters replaced old characters, they should've just been added. Most of the new vehicles are lame. The bosses are very different from the old ones, in a not-as-fun way. Dual SMGs is really stupid because it is exactly like Heavy Machine Gun, except it lacks the ghetto diagonal shots. And I hate the new point thingy (IIRC, it's called "rank"; the little medals awarded for rapid kills) because it is just another reason to feel like an idiot when you die (since all the points go away; as if losing the rescued soldiers wasn't bad enough).
Anyway, like I said. I do enjoy 4 and 5. I will pick up the collection. But I just think that 2, x, and 3 are far better.

I like the enemy design better in those, since TNE's new enemies tend to look really whacky in comparison. I've also always preferred mouse/keyboard over dual sticks for FPS. But anyway, yeah... TNE is pretty good too.

I do understand people who say KOF 2001 has better things than KOF 2000, but the music? I found KOF 2000's music to be much, MUCH better than the boring shit they have in KOF 2001 (I can't even recall a track on the top of my mind). See, I told you would have problems with Igniz (the last boss). Just make sure you have 2 fighters + 2 strikers...that way you will at least deal some damage in your moves (typical SNK boss damage handicap). 3 fighters + 1 striker or 4 fighters is just a no-no.
There IS a way around Original Zero, though (the sub-boss). If you perform low A (weak punch) repeatedly while at a safe distance, O.Zero will perform his "skirt wave" move. If you're fast enough you can dash in and punish him.
K9999 is one of those characters who is probably better off doing his normals than anything else. I swear...jump A (or jump C) -> close C -> fwd + A = damn too much.
Duck Strong: Yeah, I actually played that SNES Marvel Super Heroes - War of the Gems. It's pretty much the same thing as Mutant Apocalypse (Wolverine is virtually THE SAME CHARACTER he was in MA...straight down to the sprite), with some nifty additions like being able to choose between paths in certain stages and using the Infinity Gems to enhance certain abilities:
- Reality: Allows you to discover secret items.
- Time: Speeds up your character (huge plus for Hulk)
- Power: Powers up your character (huge plus for Spidey)
- Mind: Allows you to jump higher
- Space: Higher defense
- Soul: Gives you 2 energy bars
The characters also have special moves, and some characters even have air combos (you know, PPP in the air). There are also some known bosses like Doom, Blackheart, or Thanos.
I still have the ROM, so I play it every now and then.

Wouldn't it make more sense if Space enhanced jumping, though?

Well, Space was the defense enhancer of the arcade MSH, so it makes a bit more sense.
No, Gambit isn't in it. The cast is:
- Hulk (he has the Gamma Charge)
- Wolverine
- Captain America (he has the Shield Slash)
- Spider Man (he has the Web Ball)
- Iron Man (he has the Uni Beam...sorta)

My top 5 SNES games list:
1) Chrono Trigger (the greatest game of all time)
2) The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
3) Tetris Attack
4) Final Fantasy IV
5) Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
I actually played Radical Dreamers, the followup? to Trigger earlier today. I put a question mark on followup because there are some continuity differences with Chrono Cross. Anyway, it's the oddball of the series because it's a very short text-based RPG, meaning it's like a 'Choose-Your-Own-Adventure' book in video game form. It's a decent game if you don't mind the reading and have 4 or 5 hours to kill. The soundtrack is also top notch. In fact, some of the music in RD returns in CC. Good shit.

Ha ha! Well I guess we have different views on the music in KOF '00 and KOF '01, Lantis. Well that's understandable.
BTW, thanks for the tips. I'll try those out on him. I thought Igniz was tough but he is nothing compared to Rugal in KOF '02. That mother is just wrong on so many levels. Even if you 1/3rd his life, that is no guarantee that you will win. It's offical: SNK bosses are much tougher than Capcom bosses in fighting games. Actually, the AI in KOF '02 is more fierce than in any other KOF game I've played.
I'm still learning the characters in KOF games and the roster in each game is so freaking huge! So far my faves are: K9999, Kim, Kyo, and K. Actually Iori is also good. For some reaosn, I'm having a hard time pulling of Terry's Power Wave in KOF '02.

WHAT ARE THE TOP 5 SNES GAMES? (in your humble opinion)
-Eartbound (I don't care if you hate it early on, it's worth playing all the way through at least once)
-Chrono Trigger
-Super Metroid
-Final Fantasy 6 (US)
-Link to the Past (Not really that much of a fan but I appreciate it's greatness)
Anyways, playing WarioWare Twisted, which is awesome. That huge gyro is pretty sensitive, the games are fun, and the art is still hilarious. Plus you can play the entire thing with one hand, which I'm sure will be useful for some of the more creative members of this board.
Tried out Conker:L&R (never played the original) and it seems alright but not really that special. The dubbing is atrocious, it feels like I'm watching some french cartoon with english layered overtop. The humor and artstyle aren't really my thing either, it seems more aimed at 13-15 year old males who derive joy out of slinging fake vomit at each other. In any case the graphics are amazing, probably beating out RE4 for the best stuff I've seen on console so far.

They also gave Marvel Super Heroes the Snes treatment, but I never got to play that one. It seemed pretty ghetto anyway. :pleased:
I'm playing that game right now on SNES-Station! It is actually quite fun. There are five characters, each with different moves and attibutes. Hulk, Wolverine, Captain America, Spider Man, and Iron Man. They all have SF type moves. Hulk has a command grab! The only character that sucks is Captain America. He doesn't do anything that someone else does better. Wolvie and Spidey are the best.

OK I just beat Marvel: War of the Gems. It was fun. Now to start on another SNES game. I've never heard of Wario Woods so maybe I'll try that. It's kinda like Dr. Mario. There are monsters that have to be destroyed by placing them in a line with bombs. But what makes Wario Woods unique is that you don't actually move them bombs as they fall. You play as Toad, trapped inside the play field, and have to use him to carry and kick the bombs into place. There're even bosses!
Anyway, I've yammered on enough. But I'd like to throw in a second to PFH's Super CastleVania 4, Kirby's Super Star, and Kirby's Dreamland 3.

Well, actually, my favorite KOF music is from KOF '96, but I think that's a bit too old for you....
Rugal in KOF 2002...yeah, he's somewhat of a bitch. I wouldn't put him up to Igniz' level, though.... at least Rugal has some openings (like when he does that triple kick thing, he almost always follows it up with a Genocide Cutter, which you can punish). Also, Rugal seems to have a VERY hard time blocking slides (you know, like Chang's dwnfwd + A, or Vanessa's dwnfwd + B), you can just beat him with that (slide, he gets up, slide, repeat). Orochi Chris' fireball also kinda locks Rugal down...and Chin's "drunkard uppercut/dance" has so much autoguard he can laugh off Rugal's Genocide Cutter and STILL hit him. May Lee's counter also catches Rugal pretty much everytime you knock him down and he attempts the Genocide Cutter. The only thing I see going for Rugal is that he has the damage handicap UP THE ASS (really now, he takes almost NO damage, I usually beat him with time over). Turtling is your friend with Rugal...his main offense is just throwing Reppukens and the casual Kaiser Wave...I just usually sit there and wait for openings. When he performs a low B, he tries to follow up with a throw...throw him first, or command throw if your character has one.
But Igniz is a lot worse...everything you stick is usually countered by his uppercut thingy or that annoying geyser super. He has SOMEWHAT of a weakness for jumping CDs....
Well, Terry's Power Wave WP version is the actual projectile, and the SP version is the Round Wave. Your character selection seems good...except I can't stand Iori (have been a anti-Iori since KOF '95, even). Grapplers are kinda my thing (you will usually see Clark in my teams).

And thanks again for the tips. I'll keep all that in mind when facing Rugal again in '02. Now I just need to find some KOF babes to get good with. Sony's PS1 and PS2 have had some awesome games over the last 10 years. But I don't care if the PS3 comes with gold plated game discs. I am not gonna pay $400 for that thing. Just as I refuse to pay $250 for a PSP. I'll wait for a price drop.

Just got into KOF '03 again. Not quite on the same level of awesomeness as KOF '01-'02 but man, this is still one fine game. '03's version of Terry seems to be my fav. Not sure what it is about this version of him but it rocks. But '03 is lacking one of my fav fighters: K9999. No. It just isn't possible. But I found another fighter I like in Ash.

Well, people who have played Garou: Mark of the Wolves will find 2003 Terry to be identical to that game. Remember in CvS 2 where Rock Howard was able to "cancel" his 360 command throw? Well, that's why Terry can "cancel" his Power Dunk...that was a special feature in Garou. I personally love the new Power Tackle and how he can follow it up. And, curiously enough, 2003 is the first KOF with the Buster Wolf.
K9999 was dropped due to copyright problems with the studio that made Akira. I mean, they even hired the same voice actor of Tetsuo to do K9999. That's why they can't risk having K9999 in any more games.
Argh, well...Fruity Pebble Ash may be OK, quite simple actually (only 3 special moves). He sorta has a Guile syndrome with those leap forward/backward kicks which you should actually exploit quite often.

so now, the army brings in giant robots....GIANT ROBOTS!....and on top of that I'm fighting tanks, and the Majestic, who now have more MUTANTS! This is my first time dealing with the mutants, as in the first mission that deals with them....I didn't take any chances and just killed those guys before they could do anything.(*they were in a little room downstairs in a lab....I just knocked out the power to their cages, and chucked a bomb down there....and ran in and finished off the survivor before he could even start anything up.)
Battle highlights:
-A tank is around the corner...dozens of Majestic cars and agents all over the place...AND the GIANT ROBOTS!
-So one of the coolest moments; I telekinetically lifted a flaming Majestic car and hurled it right into a robot's chest, which knocked him off his feet....this whole time....more agents are closing in...like it's the Burly Brawl 100 Smiths scene in MatrixReloaded. I'm luvin' it.
-I haven't studied the mutants closely since that was such a hectic battle....but it appears they can shut your powers down temporarily, and/or cause your weapons to malfunction. The first time I noticed one was quite a surprise....suddenly there were waves of green energy radiating across the ground....I didn't know what the hell was going on, but it was seriously wrecking my game plan....and finally I spotted the source, and figured that was another mutant, like the ones from that earlier mission.
The game is so tight it's rediculous. This is instantly on my list of Greatest Games of All Time. I knew the game would be awesome, but it has surpassed even my expectations by an incredible margin.

Yeah what Lantis said. Just like the arcade game. it's not from Acclaim either. Some Japanese company called "Naxat".
Has animated cut scenes though. Something practically most PC Engine/Turbo CD games are notorious for.
The music is totally different from the NES game though.

I KNEW K9999 reminded me of someone!! Well that sucks that we won't see him in any other KOF games. He was one of my top favs.
I was playing Single Survival mode in KOF '03 and I ran into some hoe that has a twin. She was teleporting all over the placed and had these after image movements. She owned me for free. Maybe I've found the broken character in the game already.
I've played Mark of the Wolves. GREAT game. Terry in KOF '03 feels very similar to the way he did in Mark of the Wolves so maybe that's why I like him so much in '03. It's actually harder for me to play as Terry in KOF 2000-2002 but in KOF '03, he just rocks.

Yeah, it's Chizuru Kagura and her sister, Maki. Actually, Chizuru is the one who's pretty tame and very beatable. When she tags out to her sister Maki, is when all hell breaks loose. The best suggestion I can give is to see when she starts "rolling" towards you (or spinning, whatever), count 3 spins, then throw her. She's also vulnerable when she throws an image and she remains with her arms lowered...you can blast her then. Just don't go in attack recklessly...you'll DIE!
And I reckon you haven't faced Adelheid or Mukai yet?

Just spin attack (Chang, Billy, etc.) that Kagura shit down. Or if you're good, you can rush and keep Chizuru on lockdown, preventing her from tagging out by hitting her out of tag and tag-counter attempts. I do this most often with Shen.
Damn I hate Chiz. :(

Isnt Mukai the guy with the full screen instant pretification attack x.x
And it seems some of his attacks have invincibility cause punches go right through if he doing something usually.
Oh and i beat the last hidden level 6000 boss in Phantom Brave and i dont want to play it again. I think the sword i made had over 1 million attack on it. Took 5 turns to kill the boss with one person.

Traded in a few games at Game Xchange. Got rid of the shitty X-Box port of Metal Slug 3 (not arcade perfect), Tetris Worlds (Tetris with a story; WTF?), and Yoshi Touch & Go (Kirby is basically a better version of the same thing).
Happened to find the PSX version MS3 (is arcade perfect) and MSX there, so I got those. Also picked up some X-Box game called "Malice". No idea what it's like, but it's in my favorite genre, platformer, and the main character is a red-headed chick with a nice rack, so I figured it was worth $9.

hahah...Malice was shown before Xbox was out, and it was supposed to be a launch game....and it just came out earlier this year, I think. I wasn't a fan immediately due to the Bratz-doll looking character design on that girl. Atrocious.
*so far my murderous, destructive rampages in Destroy All Humans have been much more fun and satisfying than my rampages in any GTA game. Though I enjoy the 50's B-movie style humor and presentation in this....often times I wonder how all this would be if the game had a more serious tone....and so I try to imagine Crypto as without the Jack Nicohlson-inspired voice actor....and perhaps more like Freeza...or Mewtwo(*the only thing I ever liked about Pokemon). And of course on those occasions....I imagine the Majestic as more serious "men in black" figures...like the classic myth really is....or like the modern representation of them; Matrix Agents.

Traded my Game Boy Advance SP for it. In a way the Duo version is better than the arcade too, collision detection's improved a bit. You can still do the spin kick as if you're playing the NES version.

Yeah, that's Mukai...His invincibility frames are totally obvious in his "stone pillar" attacks. :bluu: But for some reason he eats rushing attacks very often.

One of the worst platformers I've played in a long time. Not worth $9.

- Bandai announced a new PS2 and PC online RPG called .Hack // Fragment, which is being developed by CyberConnect and ArtDink. The game will not require the PS2 HDD and will not have a monthly member free. There will be character creation, guild, BBS and Mail systems; the game can be played both online and offline, 8 character classes will be available. There will be a matching server to find play partners; you can also run your own server on PC.
I think I want this game just so I can play online with Million.

I got the 5 new maps on Halo 2 early, and a new TV (got me a 32" widescreen HDTV + Xbox Monster Cables for $500 after the ridiculous texas tax), so I'm gonna be playing lots of Halo 2, Destroy all Humans, and Jade Empire.
My Halo 2 map review:
Relic - looks pretty awesome for one flag CTF and slayer and assault. basically its like zanzibar in the fact that its one heavily fortified base. Has a real "omaha beach" feel to it.
Terminal - one of my faves, its alot larger than it seemed in the previews and whatnot. 4v4 on this map wouldnt work too well, but 8v8 would be perfect. Lots of vehicle combat, one sniper rifle from what I've seen. That train is a beast, it comes at random times. This is definitley a slayer or one flag map, a bomb game would be stupid on this map.
Elongation - havent played it yet
Backwash = walked around for a bit, its another symmetrical map with 2 distinct bases, first map I've seen with sentinel beams. a shotgun or sword user with camo will be a god on this map. Limited vision + sword lunge = victory. Good map for slayer, multi flag and probably neutral flag/bomb. Oh and King.
Gemini - I like this map, it feels like single player mode on this map. The big covenant structure of a prophet looks dope, and its a real close combat map. The sword and brute shot will run this map. Looks good for a neutral bomb/flag game, crazy king, and slayer.

So took that crappy Malice game back to the exchange place. By far the worst platformer I've played in a long time. Possibly ever. Foretunately, they have a 24 hour even exchange, so I got all $9 back in store credit. And even more crazy, they had a copy of the first Devil May Cry. I'd already borrowed and played a friend's copy, but now I have my own (had to shell out another $10, but well worth it).

Had about a 3 and a half hour UC2 online marathon last night. Great games. So many beatdowns, Predator is one hell of a great ability, the amount of melee damage you do is ridiculous, you're almost unstoppable.
IMHO, the key to being good/decent at this game rely on 3 things:
1. Be a whore with the adrenaline pills, take them all, even if you are full, unless your teammate(s)is/are nearby and need them.
2. Use your adrenaline abilities, and use them wisely. Using adrenaline abilities gives you a huge edge over those who don't. It is also important to know which ability to use when.
3. Control the U-Damage. Know where it is, and when it's about to respawn, and make sure you're near it when it does respawn. The same can be said of the super-health and the Super-adrenaline. Controling these items means controlling the map, although the U-Damage should take priority over the other 2.
I've also been hosting my own dedicated server, and it seems to work out well. No more bullshit about people dropping a game when they start losing, and the games running off a dedicated server seem to lock your Xbox up a whole lot less than a non-dedicated game. Worth buying 2 copies of the game...

no ps2, but I eventually must get one. I've said it before, but I will eventually have to get one....because Sony somehow managed to snag Soul Calibur 3 as exclusive(*and I remember reading the ps2 SC2 wasn't even the best selling version).
Of course it figures that the one I don't really care much for, SC2, gets multiplatform release....yet the one with CUSTOM CHARACTER gets put out as a damn ps2 exclusive.
*I read recently that the U.S. release of the Sonic Gems collection will NOT have the Streets of Rage games....because SoA apparently wants to keep an E rating or some bullshit. Whatever, whoever made that decision is welcome to kiss my entire ass.
Destroy All Humans ---I finally beat Armquist....that was the toughest mission in the game so far. I'm having to go back though, cuz I haven't been doing as much brain extraction in the past few missions....I was only concerned with beating the missions....so of course now....I'm kinda short on DNA, and I can't afford one more upgrade that's at Pox's lab. I forgot what mission is next...I've just been on killing sprees for dna lately.
edit---oh yeah...I'll be back on UC2 perhaps this weekend. I still haven't downloaded the new stuff from Halo2.
There's also the cheap tactic of kill-stealing. Unless people just really suck at the game(meaning even I can beat them in a "fair" straight up fight)....this is my bread and butter tactic for getting at least some points. It's the same as in Halo 2. I'm always looking to surprise someone, especially if they're already engaged in battle....then I can take advantage of their weakened condition and get some easy kills. With the somewhat cheapness of this in Halo 2...I can get double and triple kills sometimes....by merely tossing a grenade into the fray. Haha....yeah, I'm a cheap bastard...and I'm proud of it.
