Where can I find some of the Trapt prequels? They were on PSX right?

Try Gamestop or ebay, the first one Tecmos Deception was megh, part 2 was called Kagero and that one was really good. Dark Delusion was part 3 and that took the customizing even further by letting you add things like Iron Maidens to your basic wall/floor/ceiling set up. And yes, all were for PSX, Trapt is the first next gen installment, should be out tomorrow, but it's been delayed numerous times over the past couple months.

Looking forward to the Donkey Kong Country 3 re-release on GBA in one week.

And Sonic Rush and Shadow the Hedgehog the week after that.

Also, isn't MMX Collection coming out pretty soon here?

Phantom Dust, folks.

-So...now I have discovered the great "Judge of Anubis" skill...there's lengthy description there, but once you figure the simple math there...the damage potential of that skill is just disgusting...I love it! I was already using it in this one hard ass mission about a writer(*you have to win the battle against 2 enemies, but with less than 5 points of health, and one of those bastards has FlashHole skill....a barrier type that erases ANYTHING it blocks...)...and then there was a mission where they used my efforts to study this skill more closely. I think I was fighting "Guard" yet again...anyway, JoA skill subtracts your health points from that of the enemy, and doubles that number....so, of course the damage could be amazing if he's still at full health and you're low on health. I forgot what number I purposely hurt myself to...but when I hit him with Judge of Anubis, the shit did 16 points of damage....of course that's huge considering the characters start out at 20, usually. It looks cool too....the energy forms what appears to be a dove or white eagle....purely of energy. The problem, however, is that it flies slowly.

Also, I'm not sure I saw him use a defensive skill, but the second time I launched it, the bird just got reversed and flew back at me!

Bad news for all us Mega Man fans--Capcom has once again messed up and delayed the Mega Man X Collection. Now it won't be out until December 6th, if we're lucky. You know how Capcom is.

I played the Dragon Quest VIII demo. Since everyone and his dog was talking about it, I figured I'd check it out. Plus I've always been a fan of the DQ games. This is going to be one sweet old-school RPG. No year 7058 setting, no. This is good old-fashioned, Slime enountering goodness. It's been a long time since I've picked up a pot and threw it at someone and they didn't care, or looked through their dressers right in front of them. I think I just may finally start my GBC game DWIII. And I'll be sure to pick this game up.

I also played Jak X: Combat Racing on my OPM demo disc. Took some time to get used to the controls but the game is pretty fun and I like the emphasis on combat. Missiles, machine guns, grenades, etc.

More on DBZ: BT (Million if you ever get a PS, get this game. I know you'll like it). My custom SS Gogeta is one POWERFUL mofo. I don't even have to use beam attacks for him to deal massive damage. I want to use him against my friends in Dueling mode but I'm not sure if I should. I can already hear them whinning.

Every form of Goku seems to suck at gathering ki. This really sucks when you're powering up and your enemy has a beam attack coming at you and you stop charging to dodge too late. Now Vegeta gathers ki so much faster than Goku. It's one of the reason I actually like Vegeta better in this game. And my Majin Vegeta... ooo, I just shudder at him. He's just too good.

I'm breaking...I can't resist...perhaps I could weasel a Ps2 out of mom or dad for my birthday or christmas... I NEED to play that new DBZ game, along with all the other seemingly BILLIONS of great ps2 games I've missed out on. How is Cell Jr. and the Saibaman....and Dodorria and Zarbon? Are they any good compared to the rest of the cast? Who seems to be in the elite class on this game if there were a tier list? Who sucks?

the missions in Phantom Dust are getting quite difficult now...it took me awhile, but I finally figured up how to use Compressor...I think that's the name...

Well, Million, there are a TON of good fighters in DBZ: Budokai Tenkaichi. Zarbon and Dadoria actually turned out to be part of the good crew. They could have easily screwed them both up but them gave them all of their moves and Zarbon is even sporting his cap and both his pretty-boy and butt-ugly forms. But between Zarbon and Dadoria, I personally think Dadoria is a whole lot better. He just seems overall more powerful and seems to do more damage. The only down side to Dadoria is that all his power comes at the cost of speed. He's powerful but slow.

You may have read in one of my previous posts about the game in this thread, but the entire Ginyu Force is also here. I know you hated GT (and for good reason, it sucked major booty) but they've also included SS4 Goku, SS4, Vegeta, SS4 Gogeta, Baby, and Super 17, who I've heard is a pretty broken dude due to his ability to absorb ki based attacks.

All of the fighters in DBZ: BT seem to mirror their strength from the anime. And you can customize the power, ki, strength, speed and defense of every single character in this game. So if you thought Majin Vegeta was already strong by default, just tweak his stats and see what kind of monster you can turn him into.

As for who suks, Hercule is, as far as I can tell, the weakest fighter in the whole game. He only knows basic martial arts, and he even resorts to throwing rocks and grenades at his opponents. He's the joke fighter of the game. The Saibamen are small so they are pretty fast although not as powerul as the Zarbon or Dadoria or the Cell Jrs. The Cell Jrs. are decent fighters but I like Zarbon and Dadoria far better. However, the Cell Jrs. can use Kamehameha and the Special Beam Cannon attacks.

But I can't stress how important it is to learn the controls in the game. If you don't then the Computer and anyone else > you. But you gotta get this game, Million.

After further playing Ratchet Deadlocked I can safely say he's way more broken than the GC or UYA Ratchet. After leveling up a weapon to 10 you are able to buy a Super version of it and level it up even more...up to Level 99. I attached 2 Experience Mods and 2 Jackpot Mods to whichever weapon I wanted to level up and went into one of the Dreadzone Arena Challenges (End Zone works perfectly for this) and just mowed down an endless supply of enemies. I went from Level 20 something to 99 in 2 waves, plus earned about 3 million bolts each time. My current loot is over 60 million, 3/4 of my weapons are Level 99, and my life is up to 108 I believe. Not sure how far the life bar goes in this one since it's just a number with a bar, could go up to 999 I suppose. :wow:

DBZ: BT-I actually lost a match to Ginyu on Ultimate Battle mode. Talk about humiliating. Luckily, I was on to his game and schooled him when I fought him again. I'd almost rather lose to Hercule than Ginyu. Almost.

You make an excellent point. I'm already up to my elbows in tons of games. And a buddy of mine let me borrow Demon's Crest.

I got back into Burnout 3. Man, this game is fun but it's really starting to frustrate me now. Coupe races are a serious pain because it fees like the cars are a little reluctant to drift. Oh, sure the Coupes are fast but aren't as fun to drive as the Sports or Muscle cars. And the AI is getting far more aggressive. I've had to restart some races over and over because I've screwed up too many times. But I've mentioned too much negatives. This game is still so much fun.

I opened Gunstar Super Hereos today. The game is good and pays a lot of homage to the original Genesis Gunstar Hereos. My one complaint is the story, which so far, from the 4 levels I've played, is a carbon copy of the original game. I mean, I don't expect gripping stories from these types of games but it's almost like Treasure said "Ah, screw it. Let's just recycle the same story we used back in 1993." The laziness really shows, but other than that, it's all good.

Got a chance to play Advance Wars: Dual Strike. It's amazing how much an already great strategy game improves with the use of touch-screen gameplay. It makes combat seem much more fluid. And I never really dove too deep into the game, but I was very impressed.

Oh and the Ghosts 'N Goblin games on the Capcom Classics Collection are doable. It just takes a lot of skill. A WHOLE LOT of skill and a little bit of luck. My friend Justin blew me away when I saw him play Ghouls 'N Ghosts. He totally rocked the first stage like nobody's business.

Space Invaders is also the only game I've ever played out of the whole collection on the disc prior to last night. Operation Wolf is great and Bubble Bobble is worth the $20 the whole game cost all by itself. The game is just so awesome!! You can play alone but if you want to true ending you gotta play with a buddy and then you gotta play Super Bubble Bobble to see the REAL true ending. The farthest I got was stage 15. I think it was in the gossip section, but it still makes sense, and I remember the gossip in EGM being correct most of the time. Apparently SC3 will show up on x360 next year, likely in the 1st or 2nd quarter. That's a relief if it's true....1 more reason I can avoid Ps2.(Devil May Cry going to PSP I hear...so...it's looking good for me completely avoiding this system throughout its entire lifetime.)

TOO MANY GAMES. ---that's the only real problem with this gen, imo....So now, Matrix Path of Neo comes out either now or in a couple of days(!), AND my precious Viewtiful Joe Red Hot Rumble should be out this month too, and I'm nowhere near finished with Phantom Dust or most of my current-gen games. Prince of Persia 3 hits next month, and that is looking TOO damn good, with Prince having a "dark alter ego"/form. Tooooo many games...I need to be retired already to play all this good stuff.

Who really cares about those faceless chumps in white? I'll form a more fair opinion from playing the real characters that actually matter in the SW universe....I want to be Mace Windu, Grievous, Emperor, Maul, etc. Those guys are the real deal.

So now there's this, plus Path of Neo(*still willing to give that a chance), Viewtiful Joe:RHR, Ninja Gaiden Black...and I'm STILL on Phantom Dust, and I still love Unreal Champ 2. (*and Hulk, and Destroy All Humans, Smash Bros. Melee...)

More games. Give me a highly recommened game. and just convince me why it is worth it.Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening

Now, I'm not gonna lie, so I'll start with the bad. This game has a very steep learning curve. Your first playthrough is gonna hurt. A lot.

But stick with it. Hard isn't neccessarily a bad thing. And what this game has going for it is first and foremost: OPTIONS. Grand total, there are 5 different Devil Arms, 5 different guns, and 6 different combat styles. Every single one is distinct, and all are worth using (except the Doppleganger Style). And nowhere are you required to use anything in particular either. Everything can work anywhere, it's all up to you. DMC3 also features a really complex, fast-paced, and very stylish combat system. You can fluidly tag between your currently equipped weapons mid-combo, creating virtually limitless possibilities for how you want to beat the enemies down. Rounding out this game's awesomeness is its excellent writing and pretty graphics. And did I mention all the options you have? Plus, it's got a nice length with 4 different main difficulties, plus a joke difficulty, so there's plenty to do as well.

Myself... I just got the DKC3 re-release for GBA. It's annoying, because they redid the music. All in all, it's still the same old DKC3, but some of the changes are a nuicance. Unlike the DKC2 re-release, they actually removed some of the original stuff. Specifically, the baseball toss mini-game is gone, replaced with a Sonic the Hedgehog wannabe tube run thing. And like I said earlier, the soundtrack has been redone. But on the plus side, the levels themselves are still the same, and there is one whole new world to play.

^I'm going to have to do that one day...I'd like to have Unreal Championship 2 at least permanently on the HD, because I don't ever want to be without that game.(*so far, I plan on just purchasing at least 2 extra copies) I've been playing it again recently...as my usual Brock once again. I really hate that the haters destroyed any possible chance for another UC2 being made. This is why I'd just put some freelance developers on a payroll or something if I was rich...that way, games I want would get made, no matter WHAT the general nitpicky public thinks. A sequel to this and Sonic Heroes would get made, regardless of whatever the damn fans wanted....what I want would be the only thing that matters, as I would be the one writing their paychecks. Things like Viewtiful Joe could go on forever....and then my own ideas for games could be realized...

*so anyway...I still have Phantom Dust to play, and apparently Viewtiful Joe RHR is out already?! Quite a few people on the gfaqs boards are talking as if it's already out...I didn't see it at Target yesterday though..

So, I have Viewtiful Joe Red Hot Rumble...it's *ok* so far....of course the first person I played was The Black Emperor. Of course I need more playtime as all the characters before giving it the full critique, but gameplay wise, it's not quite as fun as I thought it was going to be. Things actually seem TOO simple...almost as if the target audience they were shooting for is 8 years old. This is one time where I wish they weren't so "original". I was hoping it would just be a straight rip on the Smash Bros. concept, actually...with a better focus on pure fighting. Hopefully this will get better as I experience more of the game.

*I played a PSP for the first time today...this store had it on demo...oddly enough, I've NEVER seen Psp set up as a demo in any other place until today...didn't notice that until now. That screen is GORGEOUS, folks...it's something you have to see in person rather than in a magazine or on tv/internet. I never thought I'd see graphics that good on a handheld this soon...it kinda sucks for my account that I have no choice but to get this AND a DS eventually. Somebody needs to do a damn price drop.

dammit this game cheats so much...and normally I can keep up with fast crazy action, but it's true...it really is hard to tell what the hell is going on most of the time...sometimes it looks like the game is BLATANTLY cheating me out of obvious successful hits to the opponent. My opinion of Red Hot Rumble is going further downhill...

What's up with that?

Million
11-13-2005, 03:43 PM
Nobody really gave it a chance, and "hardcore" "super elite" FPS fans are always too close-minded anyway to accept something even slightly different. The ones that did give it a chance gave up way too fast for the game to have a chance...so since none of the players gave a shit, Epic certainly didn't give a shit anymore either(*a patch was made, and some people just bitched even more...perhaps I was lucky, but after that patch, the game was smooth as a baby's ass online for me...)....and UC2 will go down as a wonderful experiment....that failed horribly....so any further Unreals will be "just another FPS" from now on.

VJ Red Hot Rumble---odd...the Alastor voice is just fine. Either this is a new guy doing an excellent impersonation of the original VA...or they kept the original for this particular character for whatever reason...

Remy Saotome
11-13-2005, 03:44 PM
What's up with that?My personal huge gripe: CHARACTER IMBALANCE. The damned roster was so horribly skewed towards certain characters and classes, and against others, that it just wasn't fun. I loved the gameplay mechanics and the weapon selection. Jumping off walls was awesome, the unique powers were cool, the characters designs were mostly solid. But it just isn't fun that some characters just plain stunk, while others were so clearly superior. And it was easy to tell too, surely even the designers noticed. But they didn't bother to do anything about it. Even the patch didn't address any of the overpowered or underpowered Skills. All it did was add some characters and maps, and fix a bug that had made lightweights move at the same speed as medium weights in the initial release.

^Sweet news about Al's voice, though. He and Joe are the ones that I would be most pissed over getting changed.

Also curious: Who all is available from the start of the game?

^ah, there is character imbalance in UC2, but I expect that whenever characters are made to be different, stat-wise....it's unavoidable. I don't think it's that big of a deal though...it's not like 99% of the people were playing Anubis...there was some variety there...there were a lot of Anubis players, sure, but there were also Raidens, Brocks, Judas, Selkets and Necris Selket, and quite a few Devastations. See, as long as everyone isn't playing as just 1 or 2 characters...it's fine by me, and it means the characters aren't absolutely lopsided with a clear best....No one character had absolute best adrenaline either....I think that was evident in the whining I was just whining about, heh....people bitched about "Wraith" mode being overpowered...but people also bitched about Devastation's Head Turret move being cheap....I think Berserk got a few complaints too...and people definitely bitched about Homing..and Energy Burst too....and of course, no one character had all those moves....the "cheap shit" was at least spread out across several characters.

*also, the patch fixed the speed on the light characters....so they became more used online, since there was suddenly a point to using them.

*sidenote---I'm surprised I didn't see Necris Selket that much online...after the download/patch, she is theoretically one of the best character, as she has Flash + Necris abilities....on top of her superior speed...

Red Hot Rumble --I'm not looking at the select screen right now, but of course there was Joe, Blue, Silvia, Alastor, and Black...and that kid...Blue Jr. After beating one segment, I already unlocked Hot ass Sprocket...I've only played with Black and Joe so far.

I just looked up on GFAQs to see about secret characters, and one listed is "Young Captain Blue". So perhaps we could get to see Blue in all his former, not-so-overweight glory.

EDIT: Concerning character imblanace. I don't mind a light bit of imbalance. Especially in fighting games, where it truly is unavoidable. But some stuff in UC2 just seemed so obviously unfair that it really irked me. It also didn't help that my very favorite character was one of the "stinkers", and that my other favorites all were just "meh".

My opinion on Red Hot Rumble is...this is an odd case here...sometimes I wish it could be so much better, and sometimes it actually is fun, surprisingly...I was just whoopin ass with Captain Blue. I wish this was more of a pure fighter...it would be so much better if it were closer to that Smash Bros. concept. One thing I'm not liking at all is the bullshit luck factor...you could absolutely destroy someone...and still lose! The best way to describe it is Smash Bros. Coin Battle mode, but with all kinds of random elements thrown in there to make sure skill rarely ever prevails. It just makes me want to smash something when I beat the douche out of Silvia for the entire match, and somehow the game just "decides" I lost.

*small cool thing: alternate colors! Joe has a white costume with gold trim(*with the face-mask part on!), among other color combos...then there's Blue with a purple/gold costume(haha..OmegaPsiPhi Ranger! Blue the Q?! heh, black college people will get that, at least...), Silvia has a yellow outfit, etc. It's not just one alternate color scheme...there are others.

I used to think more highly of it, but then, there was consideration of crappy new enemies like the Bandersnatches, realization of the game being nothing more than a cosmetic evolution with the same old problems of the early games, and my recent lean from a once neutral to a now negative opinion of Claire thanks to a reevaluation of her compared with Elza...

If you haven't played RE4 yet, just go with that, and if you already have, stay with it.

Well, my thoughts on Red Hot Rumble so far...the good times are few and far between....copy/past time since I put this up at another board already:

How could they possibly have screwed up such a brilliant idea? Viewtiful Joe is an excellent franchise, with the best new characters of this generation. I was thinking this was basically kind of a Smash Bros. kinda thing....but there's just not enough of a focus on fighting. Skill seems to have absolutely no bearing on which character wins the match. This is so frustrating....because I wanted this game to be good...I love the VJ franchise, and I thought surely there was no possible way they could screw this up....but so far, I'm just not diggin' it at all. The control isn't even as fun as the regular VJ games...I hardly feel like I'm in control of the character at all...it seems like they just do whatever they want at times.

Also, the VFX hole stuff is GARBAGE...they're no point in even trying to win against AI, cuz the AI can simply *decide* you lost....it's the cpu...it doesn't have to twirl the analog sticks around...or mash buttons as fast as possible, or depend on timing to hit a bianky....so far the thing where you have to hit a bianky first...I've NEVER won that...not even once....the thing where you guess which button prompt to press is even worse. Obviously the cpu knows which one is going to appear, so how is that even close to anything resembling "fair"? It wouldn't even be possible to program that as fair anyway...it's the equivalent of playing a guessing game against someone with real psychic/ESP abilities. You can't possibly win that on anything other than pure luck.

This is terrible...even Viewtiful Joe 2 wasn't as big a disappointment as this. Also, so far it seems that if your opponent is that stupid piece of trash C.Blue Jr. or Young Captain Blue Jr....you've already lost. Does anyone even stand a chance against that annoying brat? I want to shoot him in the face with the Six Cannon from part 2, and strangle his corpse with that blasted yo-yo. Dick-suckin' cunt-face little douche-bag...why was he even added to the VJ world? Someone murder him please...please.

I've become better at the VFX challenges...but there's that one challenge where you have to hit a bianky first by hitting the button when a meter reaches the full point. I've won that challenge ONCE. One damn time, when the comp *allowed* me to win it.

Also, the limited gameplay makes this quite difficult at times....difficult in ways the previous 2 VJ games were not. In those previous 2 games...you actually had an array of options on how to handle various situations. Here, I just feel too limited in what I can do.

I'm resorting to playing that piece of shit Blue Jr. just to win....and the sad thing is....it's working so far. My main man Black Emperor is alright too though...with the orb move and the sword-dash. Charles the 3rd is actually fun...but it seems like he dies so quickly....like I get hit a couple of times and that's it for him.

I was trying to hold off until vacation, but I started RE4 on the PS2. If you have never played the GC version this one will easily satisfy. If you have played the GC version through and through like I have you might notice some areas that appear to have a little less detail, in the castle especially, but it's not bad to the point where you can't stand it. If the GC version is a 10, then the PS2 version is 9.5   IMO.

I finally got my GameCube back from my brother-in-law. Now that I've got it again, I can play my GBA games on my TV. I can also play my GBC games on the tub as well. It's been a while but you have to find a chart that says where the ship will appear on a given night. Mario Kart DS got the front seat, because Wal-Mart told me that they won't have sonic Rush until Thursday.

So far, I'm really enjoying it. I like the new weapons and balance changes. The graphics are pretty nice, though I still think that SM64DS is the best looking 3D DS title so far. There are a grand total of 332 tracks, too, doubling the meager 16 on Double Dash!!.

However, I miss the two-character thing that Double Dash!! had. But all in all, I think that this is the best MK so far. Best balanced, for sure. Lots of minor tweaks and new additions really help make things more fair in the long run.

This one also marks the return of some features missing from DD!!. Weapon "priming" can be done again, allowing you to drag most weapons behind you in preparation for usage and also funcitoning as a sort of behind-the-back shield. And Triple Shell items can be used as a shield again. No Bannana whips, though (thank God), because the Banana Bunch is only three instead of the whopping ten that it was in Mario Kart 64. The Hop ability is also back in all its glory.

Drifting seems to be harder to control this time. They kept Drift Boosting from DD!!, but it takes much longer to prep now. They've also kept the Golden Mushroom and the Bob-Omb, but none of the other character-specific weapons. Boo Buddy is back again.

Peach and Yoshi are now lightweights for some reason.

Some of the new features to take note of...
Bullet Bills: A new weapon, similar to Chomp Chain from DD!!. It doesn't last as long, but features invulnerability that the Chomp didn't have.
Blooper: Squirts ink on all opponent ahead of you so that they have to use the mini-map on the bottom screen to drive for a bit. Good use of the two screens.
Tailgating: Following directly behind an opponent gives you a small speed boost. Stay in this position long enough, and you'll even get a small nitro blast that will allow you to spin them slightly.
Item Quality: In addition to unique stat balances like Accel, Speed, Handling, Weight, and Drift, a new stat has been added. Item determines how regularly good items will show up for that character.

Each character starts with two carts, and apparently a total of seven each can be unlocked. Starting cast is Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Peach, Bowser, DK, Wario, and Toad. You can also unlock Daisy, Waluigi, Dry Bones, and ROB at least, possibly even more (don't know yet). Shy Guy is also in the game, but is multiplayer only (BOO!).

OG Courses...
Super Mario Kart: Mario Circuit 1, Donut Plains 1, Koopa Beach 2, Choco Island 1
Mario Kart 64: Moo Moo Farm, Frappe Snowland, Choco Mountain, Banshee Boardwalk
Mario Kart Super Circuit: Peach Circuit, Bowser Castle 2, Luigi Circuit, Sky Garden
Mario Kart Double Dash!!: Luigi Circuit, Baby Park, Mushroom Bridge, Yoshi Circuit

Of the new courses, I really love Luigi's Mansion and Waluigi Pinball. In fact, I think Waluigi Pinball may be the best Mario Kart track yet.

As of recently, I am OBSESSED with VF4:Evo, working on my tactics with Wolf. Playing it so much recently, I'm reminded of why this game is so excellent. There is a level of depth to this game that is amazing. The best 3D fighter out there IMHO. It's a shame it has next to no following here. The only reasons I can think of are that the game is not noob-friendly, and the characters could use a little more flare or personality.
I actually like the fact that the game is not noob-friendly, as there is little room for button mashing and the game requires more precision.
Damn I wish this came out for the Xbox in 480p and with online play. It would be bliss.

Anyways, 3 things I've learned about playing as Wolf.
-NEVER crouch next to a decent Wolf player. Wolf + crouch = punisment.
-A well-timed low dropkick will result in a free ground-grab.
-SMASH DOWN BOTTOM!!!!!!

God of War is quite good if you like action games along the same lines as DMC or Ninja Gaiden. But if you don't care for those types of games, avoid it.

Presonally, I liked it a good deal, though not quite as much as Devil May Cry 3.

Thanks for the impressions on Mario Kart DS, Remy. I soooooooo want that game even more now. 332 tracks?! Tooooooo goood. Too bad I can't aford the game with this week's check. Blasted bills.
:tdown:Heh, sorry bro. There're only 32 tracks. 332 was a typo.

16 new ones, plus the 16 classic ones I listed above (4 from each of hte previous 4 games).

I cleared Mission Mode last night. Not too difficult overall, though a couple were quite hair-raising. Each Level of Missions consists of eight assignments and then a boss fight. Yes, a boss fight in Mario Kart. The bosses are quite fun, too. Unforetunately, there doesn't seem to be any reward for completing Mission Mode.

I also played around with Battle Mode a bit. You now start with a meager 1 balloon inflated. You have to blow into the mic to inflate more. You have a total of five, but can only have three blown up at a time. You also can't steal balloons using Stars any more, only with Mushroom Boosts. There are also AI Bots for Battle Mode now! And they were kicking my ass on the "Normal" setting. There are a total of six Arenas, including the return of Block Fort from 64 and Pipe Plaza from DD!!, as well as a new one that looks like the top of a DS.

One downside to Battle Mode this time around is the fact that you play with eight players at once, rather than the usual four. Most of the Arenas (with the possible exception of Twilight House) feel a tad clastrophobic with eight karts running around. I wish there was an option to turn the number down.

Just unlocked Waluigi. He's got a sweet Three-Wheeled Chopper. And a bucket crane?! of all things.

Also, 100cc was surpsrisingly difficult, moreso than it's 64 or DD!! counterpart. I'm almost dreading the 150cc GPs.

For now, I'm finding Yoshi in his "Cucumber" to be my best racer. Cucumber's this long, skinny thing with big tires. But I gotta try out Waluigi's bike next.

Currently playing through karaoke revolution party with my girlfriend. Also very slowly going through star ocean 3 and Prince of persia warrior within. Also been playing mario and luigi superstar saga. Thats such a fun game.

I can't believe how badly they messed up Warrior within. Character isn't likable at all, and the music is just ass now. I hate it so much. If it weren't for the fact that the gameplay is so fun I would trade it in. The first one was so good.

Only 32 tracks in MKDS? Hey, that's still a lot more than any MK game to date. I can't wait to get my grubby little hands on this game.

I defeated the Adramelech in Castlevania: Circle of the Moon. Took me a few tries to kill the dumb thing and I combined the Jupiter and Salamander cards to gain some defence. I hope I'm close to finishing the game.

I was gonna start playing Super Mario 64 DS again but the power light on my DS turned red, so it's being charged right now.

All this talk about MKDS makes me want to play MK: DD!! again and now that I've got my 'Cube back, I can do that.

I need about $60,000 more Crash Dollars to unlock a new ride in Burnout 3. I'm trying to play the game on a daily basis, but I suppose I'm playing way too many games at once (Burnout 3, DBZ: Budokai Tenkaichi, Dragon Warrior, Taito Legends, Castlevania: COTM)

Wild Arms: Alter Code F is tremendously badass. Now go ye forth and buy it.

I'm just starting out, I beat all 3 characters prologues (Cecilia's is A LOT better in this version), and I just got Jack and Cessy from Adelhyde for the Lolithia job. Couple minor nitpicks, the character models don't seem as good as Wild Arms 3's, well, that and the fact that Jet Enduro was the baddest muthafucker ever, and he's not in this game.

Also, going back to having "the man without a voice" in Rudy sucks, especially after how pimp the WA3 crew was in their personalities.

Recently I've been reminiscing about Viewtiful Joe part 1...yes, the game is only about 2 or 3 years old at this point, and I'm already nostalgic...I've also been giving serious consideration to giving it the nod as The Greatest Game Of All Time. Currently that GTA franchise is in my top spot...of course some will laugh/scoff at that since it's so popular to bash the hell out of anything related to GTA, but.I've considered VJ to be the #1 contender for "G.O.A.T." status since day 1....more on that later, as I feel it deserves its on thread....

I've come back to loving Unreal Champ2 again. I don't care if it's bots or real human opponents...I can't get enough of UC2's walljumps, melee, air-dashing, super powers/abilities, special ability combos, the music, the map design(*there are some awesome ideas I'd love to incorporate into my dreamhouse if I ever got rich), the fast pace of combat, and the character designs, and so much more.

...and I'm still not finished with Phantom Dust...

So I'm playing Wild ARMs: Alter Code F, and it's pretty okay. The battle system's cool, music's awesome, there's only one real problem with this game for me. This is a long, drawn out rant, but if you were a fan or the original characters, you might want to read it.

There is no Jack in this game. They have some half-assed, clean cut wannabe who calls himself "Jack", but that ain't the real Van Burace. First off, he seems to be reduced to "badass" level, whereas he was cool, and badass in the original. Second, his redesign sucks ass. Did the designer even play fuckin' Wild ARMs? Rudy's eyes are RED. Jack looked trail-worn, and gruff. He was TALL. The only character he got half-ass right was Cecilia. And even after all of this, they made Jack a wuss. JACK, A WUSS. :wtf: This is wrong on so many levels...he was a tank, a powerhouse and a speed demon in the original. He had badass moves, and learned those moves in a badass way. He doesn't need to have all the traits of old-school (since old Jack was hacked beyond compare), but he's not a weakling. Fucking Magdalene (Jane's lame ass butler, for those not in the know) is NOT stronger than Jack is. And he learns his moves from observation, not from some FUCKIN' GLOWING SWORDS on the ground. And the new "moves" he does get are total weaksauce early on (at least he gets good moves later). Throwing Hanpan at people?! Jack doesn't kill people with a MOUSE.

ARGH..... Now that that's out of my system, I guess I'll continue playing. Awesome game, excluding the previous rant. And if you would, each of us can remember the real Jack Van Burace, and pour out some liquor for the badass character he USED to be.

Yeah, some of the old guys made it. But, "it" happened anyways. In Alter Code, Rudy is now the definite powerhouse of the game (I don't really mind this, he has an ARM afterall) and from what I've seen/read, he's followed in strength by Zed (yeah, you can recruit Zed  ) and Magdalen (who you can also get late in the game). Jack's a total speed character now, according to most (and I believe it after playing what I have so far) and you've gotta use little tricks to boost him, like casting Quick with Cessy (Reaction time increases/decreases Fast Draw damage in this game). I really miss the walking force of nature that was the old Jack, but I guess I'll deal, since the game is pretty good despite that obvious flaw. And the script has gotten a bit better too. Hopefully, this means he'll still be the smart-ass we know and love.

As for his (and the other characters') design, this is unforgivable. Somebody get the old artist, stat. This is what the WA cast looks like...

Hmmm. Well, overall the game sounds like a good remake of the original PS1 game I feel in love with but that pick of the newly designed crew is like a couple of kicks to the balls. Jack looks like a total flaming homo now. Ugh. I just hope Rudy still rocks with his ARMs in the game. And Hanpan was one of the greatest sidekicks ever. I hope you still get to use him in dungeons.

PyschoGorath--Capcom Classics Collection is one of the best compilation games to ever be released. IMO it's a lot better than Taito Legends. Don't get me wrong, Taito Legends is still a solid anthology but CCC has a lot more going for it with Final Fight, 3 different versions of Street Fighter, then 1940s shooters, Mercs, Commando, etc. There's even some very cool extras like unlockable artwork (Final Fight has over 70 pieces of artwork). Each game even has some info like when the game was released and how popular it was, etc. But reallt, both TL and CCC are the best compilations to be released this year, bar none Midway Arcade Treasures 3 and Temco Classics don't even come close.

Picked up Mario Kart DS and DBZ: Supersonic Warriors 2 today.

ah, the love/hate relationship that is Red Hot Rumble...eh, more hate than love...but it's there. copy/paste time, since I posted this elsewhere:

Rachel pumps some greatness back into this game, imo...heh, perhaps it's because she's most likely disgustingly overpowered compared to others? hah....I'm dominating ever since I unlocked her a little while ago...I may as well be playing as God here. It's like she can basically "fly" around the screen via those remote...things("nodes" or "turret things" she fires out". When out, they can shoot while she fights!)..since she can dash towards them.....and it creates a nice "wall" to shut someone out, with the other mode where it creates purple/pinkish electrical energy.

I dunno...I'm back and forth with this game at this point...it's really an odd case. Sometimes I hate it, and sometimes it's "ok". I'm disappointed, but sometimes I'm having *mild* fun. I'm not even sure what I'd rate this game. It's definitely not up to the usual standard a VJ game should be though, unfortunately....

I'm surprised they put so much more thought into Rach's moves than anyone else, apparently...those orbs:
-shoot out 1, 2, or 3.
-All 3 can fire while they hang in the air...OR...
-press another button to activate a triangular energy formation, where they link up via electrical purple/pinkish energy, and fly around the room...
-you can allow that to hit the enemy while you do other things...OR...
-you can hit a button to call the triangle formation back so it becomes an odd shield of sorts for Rachel, hitting anyone she gets close to.

THEN...
-You could just shoot 1, and it has an alternate "shock" mode with the purple/pinkish electricity.
-Or you could throw out 2 of them, do the same thing, and they will link up, forming the aforementioned "electrical wall"...ooooohhhhh I LIKE this. It can be used in a variety of positions...like at a diagonal in the air, or one on either side of Rach so she's in the middle of the energy bolt. I'm loving the options here..Where does she GET all those wonderful toys?

Why couldn't they have put this much thought into the other characters' movesets?

I was playing the Final Fantasy XII demo last night. Gameplay is pretty good, nice new battle system (imagine a combination between action rpgs and ff style), but the demo had no story segments, just "stages" with battles only.

When in an environment, the player is in sort of a passive mode where the weapon is not drawn. Then once you encounter an enemy, you draw your weapon and begin a more active mode where the menu is pulled up by pressing x. From there, you have a choice of attacking, using magic, summoning, turning the character or off auto command (a command called "gambit"), or choose to use an item. You can scroll through the three character in the party's commands by pressing left or right. Even if gambit isn't on, though, attacking is constant - once you choose attack, it'll constantly choose it automatically for you again, unless you decide to choose soemthing else.

After choosing a command, a bar next to the character's name begins to fill up. Once it is full, the command will be executed if the character is in range. For example, when attacking with a short range weapon, even if the bar is filled, you would have to be practically adjacent to the target in order to execute the attack, whereas for magic, you may be a bit farther away.

In the demo, no summons were avaliable, so I couldn't check what that was like.

Much like any other action rpg, encounters can be avoided by running past or avoiding the enemy entirely. However, a neat aspect is that you can fight an enemy, fight them to a pulp, flee, and when you go back, the enemy will be at the same amount of health.

Hmm, not sure what else to say at the time...

Right now, I'm playing Gundam Seed: EAF vs ZAFT. Good stuff, the battle system is very different from Gundam vs Z Gundam, in that it is much more aerial battle based, rather than the ground based type combat of Gundam vs Z Gundam. It's easy to adjust to if you have played the other vs games, but the pace is much faster with a large emphasis on action.

I just beat Sonic Rush. The Extra Zone sequence was really cool. Super Sonic's portion of the fight was pretty tough, too, though Super Blaze's part was fairly easy.

All in all, Rush is pretty good. Not on par with the greats of the series like Sonic 2 or 3 & Knuckles, but still quite fun. I just wish that Tails and Knuckles were actually playable instead of just being in the story.

Well, still playing Alter Code F...and I forund another thing that pissed me off.

Wild ARMs and Alter Code F SPOILERS:

In the original, you meet Mariel for the first time, and some punk kids are picking on her. Rudy, being the badass mutha he was, goes up and rocks the little asshole with a left hook. In the new one, and it pains me to say this...

HE SLAPS HIM. :wtf: FUCKIN' SLAPS HIM!

Jesus Christ, it's like they realized this Rudy looks like a *** and had to make him fight as such. At least Jack still acts like a total badass, and not some stereotype like he did in the early parts.

END SPOILER:

Okay, they seriously need to quit fucking around with my nostalgia and make it exactly how it happened, only updated. This game is great so far, and would be excellent if I had never played the original, and thus don't remember how the shit was SUPPOSED to be. On the plus side, I really like the battles in this game. It's a lot more fun to fight than in WA3.

k...the Dry Bones koopa is in that, right? What is the handling like for that character..? I assume he would be like the regular koopa in the original---the middleground type with good handling, but average on everything else.

sidenote--why did they just stop using the Magikoopa character? I haven't seen that dude since Super Mario World. Magikoopa is much more interesting than the "regular" koopas or even the Dry Bones...he has MAGIC! Think of the possibilities he would've presented as a playable in Smash Bros.
Red Hot Rumble...the saga continues...
I can't believe I'm starting to mildly enjoy Red Hot Rumble...I finally beat "The Hidden Hideout" last night, which has to be the hardest damn segment of the game...at least so far....anyway, the reward for my trouble was a playable Young Captain Blue!!! I've had some bitter commentary for this game recently, but I will admit that this put a smile on my face. "Pre-Crisis Blue" is too tight...he has a slightly toned down version of the lightning summon from VJ1(*throw lightning like normal Blue, but it summons subsequent lightning strikes going towards the opponents!), and he's probably the fastest character in the game...then there's his charged energy punch...a fully charged version releases an energy shot in the shape of a tiger. Alternate color choice: I prefer the black costume with white gloves/boots. He also has the grab-into-slam/throw move, just like the other Blues. Haha...why would you go back to playing fat Blue when Pre-Crisis Blue is available?

the unlockable characters definitely make the game more enjoyable a bit...

I still have to unlock Fighter Bianky and Friends...and I guess the EX costumes.

man, it's still frustrating to realize how much more awesome this game could've been. Had they gone the unoriginal route and just put up a straight ripoff of Smash Bros., this might possibly have been the best Viewtiful Joe game ever....even surpassing part 1.(*due to the superior cast of characters) For this reason, I'm hoping for a part 2 that gets this formula right....

I assume he would be like the regular koopa in the original---the middleground type with good handling, but average on everything else. All variations of the Koopa Troopas have been lightweights. Fast acceleration, low top speed. In DS, Dry Bones actually has the very fastest accel, but lowest top speed in the game. Well, initially. Once you've beaten everything, any character can use any kart, so it becomes moot. But the karts that are considered "his" have that handling.

I like using Dry Bones. It's just neat to be a skeletal Koopa. His kart "Banisher" looks like a large Dry Bones with wheels instead of feet, too.

I'm hearing the bad things of Shadow too, but after the Sonic Heroes fiasco, I have my doubts about the general Sonic fanbase....but the camera has always been a problem in 3d Sonic games...so that much is indeed a concern I have...

I won't get it at full price though...there's other games that take priority anyway....Supersonic Warriors 2, for instance. I might pick that up before I even get the system it's on.

Red Hot Rumble---man, Sprocket can put a lot of "stuff" on the screen. She's almost a MvC2 team in one character...the only one that surpasses her in that aspect is MissBloodyRachel.

*yeah...if the Rachel Android was a real product, I'd buy her....and have no further need for "real" women. Sheeeitt...she has a time-displacement function too, apparently? You can actually summon, I believe it uses all of your MP and you have to wait til your MP bar is flashing. I don't know the conditions for this, but for both the active and passive modes, I just didn't use any MP until the boss, then I used the summon.

Besides, like Million said, the vast majority of people completely panned Heroes, and IMO Heroes >>>>>>>> Adventure 1&2.

So yeah... it will be mine eventually.

That's just what we need, another wrestling game.

I'm inept at genres other than that and fighters (and I don't particularly care about RPG's since I don't really have the time anymore) so blah. :D

I actually heard from a friend of mine that Sonic Hereos was pretty fun and I plan on picking up a copy for the GC sometime now that it's $20. But as for Shadow The Hedgehog, I'm steering clear. GameSpot gave the PS2 version a 4.7 and the Xbox and GC versions a 4.8 Now I normally trust my own judgement but that's a bit to hard to me to ignore.

Dragon Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors 2: I promised impressions on the game and here the are.

Well to start off, the game plays a lot like the original SSW. That really isn't a bad thing but I was hoping for a bit more. Still, with that being said, they've made some nice improvements in this sequel. Some characters have in-game transformations. For example, base form Gohan and Gotenks and transform into Super Saiyans by pessing the L button as long as they have 100 ki. But for base form fighters that transform, you lose 1 ki for as long as you sustain the form until you no longer have the ki to do so. The good thing is, everyone can charge their ki up to 200 by pressing and holding the R button.

Each fighter also can use a barrier by pressing and holding both the R and B buttons. With the touch screen you can call in a fighter to take the place of your existing fighter if they are getting weary. All you gotta do is touch the icon of the fighter you want. Also you can do team attacks with the touch screen if they all have enough ki but I think you can only do it once per battle.

Beam struggles are in the game. When two beam attacks collide, just mash the buttons to win the beam battle. Cool stuff. Also, small ki ball attacks can be deflected.

All-in-all, DBZ: SSW2 is another solid DBZ game. Not all that different from the first but still a lot of fun. It's a bit tough to switch characters with the fast action going on but I'm still new to it so I'll probably adjust. If you really loved the first DBZ: SSW (Million, I'm looking at you), then this game is a no brainer. Just make sure you do the tutorial before you start any battles.

question about RE:4 - the treasures that I pick up like the necklace, pocket watch, rubies and those other red stones in the beginning - do I need to save them? Or are they for selling to the shop guy?

Just beat Megaman 4 in Navi mode on Megaman Anniversary Collection (PS2) to hear the remixed music. I typed this post right after I put the last hit on Wily.

Had several funny moments.

I double KO'ed with Bright Man and final Wily.

The game let me pass when I DKO'ed with Bright Man in the Skull Castle boss chamber room but as for Wily, it didn't let me get away with it this time.

I mean, when's the last time you got a Double KO in a Megaman game?
Let's see before this, in Rockman & Forte I had one with Dynamo man.

They are all for selling, but many of them can be combined to form much more valuable items, so don't sell off just everything. If you look at the item in the menu it should tell you whether or not it can be combined with anything (it'll say it has hooks or notches or something).

Oh, and I guess I'll be the (only?) person to say MKDS blows. The game has become way too much of an item fest and multiplayer is absolutely crippled by it. It's okay single player, but multiplayer is just a chore.

Played THUG online after not touching it for a year. Highest combo I got was like maybe 18 million. Im really out of practice.

I dont understand why I can play THUG but if I try to play the sequel I get motion sickness and have to turn it off.

But they don't determine winners any more than they have in any other MK title. Proper driving and drifitng skill do just as much for you as items do.

You say that, but wait until she starts to nag. She'd be like "Paint the house honey!" and you'd be like "I can't baby, I'm watching football".

Then she'd be like "No you're not you lazy bastard" and rewind time to before the football game and make you paint the house. No thanks on that android bitch
LOL   nice one

I'm playing Mario Kart DS and loving it. I really want to try Dragon Quest VIII so I might buy that later.

More on DBZ: SSW2. Turns out you can use Team Arts more than once per battle. Young Gohan and Krillin have this sweet Team Arts where they appear at ground level and fire off a ton of ki blasts for a 50 HIT RUSH!! It's too freaking cool!!

And as much as I hate to say it (because I HATE him) Dr. Gero is actually a good fighter in this game. He's got some good 3-4 hit Rush combos and he's got this one move where if he's above his opponent, he shoots off a round of eye beam blasts.

And Ginyu would be better if all his beam attacks weren't done by members of the Ginyu Force. See, they step in and shoot a different ki blast depending on Ginyu's position. Thing is, your opponent can easily dodge these blasts, making Ginyu more vanerable than any other fighter in the game.

And Super Buu is the broken fighter. Devestating damage and this messed up ki-based attack that covers about 80% of the screen. The beam lasts for a good 5 seconds or so AND he can move and and add more hits to the Rush by smacking you around. Oh and did I mention this throw-style move where he covers you in a big pink ball for a 13 hit Rush? Yeah, he's got that too.

My fav fighters in the game so far: SS Vegeta, Young Gohan, Gohan, Krillin, Andriod 18, Mecha Freeza, Piccolo, and Gotenks (Appears to have no time limit in this game). I just don't seem to be feeling Goku in this game (Normal and SS). Yeah, he's got the Kaio Ken, Spirit Bomb, and Instant Transmission but I'm just not liking him all that much here. Maybe it's because the other fighters have been improved upon in the game. I'll use him some more later on to see if I change my mind.

And Team Arts = PWNAGE!! Overall, this is a much better game than the fantastic original. Time for you to break down and get a DS, Million!!

haven't touched magna carta in like a week, been whoring dq8 too much. i'm just about to get angelo in my part.

11hrs in iirc, just trying to power level since i hate the idea of dying and losing half my gold haha.

and yeah, Shadow is complete shit. spent a few mins w/the 50 cent game but uhh, that'll have to wait, i have to finish a game for once

Finished Trapt twice already and it definately grew on me from my last post. Aside from special trap sequences called "Dark Illusions" and some new normal traps, gameplay hasn't changed from the past installments, which isn't a bad thing really. I wish they did add some new elements but I'm still having a blast coming up with new combos and set ups. I managed a 33 hit combined with a Dark Illusion ender which was sweet, and I recently found one where you spin the victim on a spiked wheel where he is eventually thrown from and gets impaled on a hook, finally an aligator in the water beneath chomps his lower half and drags him under.

Two questions: How much did Trapt cost you? and Can I borrow / buy Trapt off you now that you beat it twice. I really want to play this game, but it is so obscure and I'm too cheap to pay full price.

In other news, I just started playing Burnout 3 on the Xbox. I'm loving it. I haven't had this much fun playing a racing game since NFS Hot Pursuit. Rubber Band AI sucks, especially on a long ass race, but you have to deal with that in like 90% of racing games.

Cost me $50.00 and sorry but I'm keeping it. I rarely trade in games, they have to be total and complete shit for me to get rid of them. I've traded in 4 games so far between mx GC, PS2, and XBOX combined.

I just got done with an hour-and-a-half online Ridge Racer 6 session. By the time I was done, I was ranked 8th worldwide :badboy:
Wow, that's all I can say. The game plays flawlessly online, and the gameplay & control is absolutely perfect. A great launch title, no question about it.
I got Perfect Dark Zero along with RR6, and I haven't even touched PDZ because RR6 has completely captivated me. I just can't stop playing it. Top-tier shit, I definately recommend it to anyone who is into arcade-style racing games.

Magna Carta could be the final fantasy killer in some aspects. I've only played about 2 hours of it, and I think its fucking incredible. The battle system is a little weird and takes some getting used to but I like the different styles you can use and what not.

I bought Perfect Dark Zero also today but haven't had a chance to play it. Also got Call of Duty 2 and NFS:MW. I'm too tired to play now though.

I'm currently playing Fatal Frame 3.

Graphically, its inferior to Fatal Frame 2. The main character are extremely low-poly. On the upside, the ghosts look better -- Fatal Frame 2 ghosts are kinda generic, but Fatal Frame 3 ghosts look good (especially the crawling ghost).

Scare-wise, it isn't as scary as Fatal Frame 2. Two of the main characters are adults, both of whom are into research of folktales, ghost stories, and haunted
