Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi
Got the urge to play this game again so I resumed Ultimate Battle with SS2 Gohan. Kicked the crap outta base form Trunks (w/sword) but got owned hard by SS Vegeta the first time I fought him. The second time, I stuck with beam attacks and beat him with more than half my life left. I thought I'd change characters so I resumed Ultimate Battle with Krillin. He may not be the strongest fighter in the game but he's fast and he has two awesome techniques: Solar Flare and the After Image. With the Solar Flare you can blind someone and combo the crap outte them. The After Image is like an automatic teleport. Activate it and Krillin will automatically dodge any long range beam-based attack. This saved my bacon when I was fighting Vegeta (Scouter). I was dashing toward him and he fired off the Galick Gun. I was like "Oh no!!" but since I had already used the After Image Krillin automatically moved out of the beam's way, leaving Vegeta wide open for some combos!!
Dragon Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors 2
DBZ: BT fills the need for a 3D DBZ fighter, DBZ: SSW2. This game really is much better than the first SSW. The teams you can form are just awesome. One of my fav teams isn't super powerful but I can dish out some pretty good damage with them. Team Novice consists of Young Gohan, Krillin and Piccolo. I like this team because all three of them are fantastic characters on their own but also because Gohan and Krillin have this awesome 50 hit Rush attack. Gohan and Piccolo also have this nice 37 hit Rush that involves the Special Beam Cannon.

Was Legend of Mana for PS1 any good? Just picked it up for about $5 along with Vagrant Story for $2, Ogre Battle for $2, and NBA Jam for SNES for $10 (its really not as fun as it used to be)
If you picked up legend of mana and ogre battle (psx versions) with jewel case and manual then I would put them on ebay, you can get $50 or so each for them, maybe more for ogre battle

RE4 - I feel as though I'm about to be at the end of the game for about the last 4 days or so but it keeps going and going. I am seriously low on ammo. I'm not that great at these kind of games but Im having fun with this one. I think my biggest praise is that the puzzles are fun and not too hard. I never really reach a spot where I have no clue what to do/where to go next. Having said that I have definitely fucked up a lot this playthough and look forward to playing it again from the beginning. How does it all work in terms of the ps2 exclusive mission, playing as the other guy, and the outfits and other secrets? What do I have to do?

PHANTOM DUST, folks....
So after getting demolished a good 3000000000+ times the other day, I finally beat Freia and her apparent clones. I basically had an arsenal that was just not really good against her, but somehow I made it through(*I was stubborn, and did not want to change up my arsenal...I'm currently using this new one; my first 3-school arsenal!), mostly with sensor mines and Rain of Rocks, and Ki Cannon....the last piece of the battle was so close...I had like 2 or 3 points of life...and the final Freia was shooting an attack that could go through solid objects!(*so no hiding behind the buildings)...it was difficult to even know when the attack was coming...if I was off just slightly with the defense skill I was using, it would've hit, and that would've been it for me....luckily I had a defense skill equipped that can reflect things....and my timing was just right each time she used it...wearing her down 4 points at a time....when I hit her the last time, OHHHH that was such a relief...I saved that sumbitch IMMEDIATELY after that hellish battle.
The plot thickens yet again, with cinemas that dropped more bombs on the already cool story! Ohooooo I want to say how great this is and why, but I don't want to spoil things for anyone who may pick it up later. In fact, pretty much anything I say about Edgar and the main character and Freia, and the whole Espers thing....I would be saying too much. If I were to make a movie based from a game...this would definitely be one of the top contenders.
...and my powers continue to evolve...yesss...I have recently(just before the Freia battle) begun to use Environmental skills...

the first time you beat it you unlock all the extra games, mercenaries, seperate ways, assignment ada and hard mode, you also unlock a gun or 2 and an outfit...
if you get 5 stars on all stages with all characters on mercenaries you get the hand cannon gun...if you beat assignment ada and seperate ways you unlock some guns and outfits...
if you beat hard mode you unlock laser gun thing, and some other weapons...
that is basically it...

Courses I official hate in Mario Kart DS: Yoshi Falls, Desert Hills, Frappe Snowland.
Things I hate about Mario Kart DS in 150cc mode: When I get the Lightning Bolt it only lasts for like 2 seconds. When the computer gets it, the effects last longer. And why the heck do I keep getting friggin Mushrooms when I'm in 7th or 8th place? Also, why is the fool in first on the Rainbow road untouchable. If you're already having trouble to begin with, it's almost like you can forget about taking 1st place at all.

As a young kid, this would have never bothered me. I didn't know any better.
I was playing Mario Kart 64 over the weekend and could not believe how much the CPU cheats. when playing in the 150CC, the CPU gets a ridiculous speed boost. 7 years ago, I would just say that I suck. Now... I know the truth... bastards...

If I were to make a movie based from a game...this would definitely be one of the top contenders.
While I love the story, I don't think it'd make a good movie, really. Or I don't think anyone could make the movie right, actually. You should just own the CPU with Psycho Spears and Gravity Presses, I'm pretty sure they suck complete ass at dodging either.
Was Legend of Mana for PS1 any good? Just picked it up for about $5 along with Vagrant Story for $2, Ogre Battle for $2, and NBA Jam for SNES for $10 (its really not as fun as it used to be)
VAGRANT STORY, LEGEND OF MANA, AND OGRE BATTLE FOR $12 TOTAL!? :annoy:
Vagrant Story I've only heard good things of, and supposedly it's hard to find (I don't see it anywhere), Ogre Battle is supposed to be ownage as well, and is hard to find... And I don't see Legend of Mana anywhere, but I loved that game. I played that game nonstop the summer my friend got it... He beat it, and I borrowed it. My day seriously went

with eat/bathroom between, for a few days, 'til I beat it.
Anyway, I'm very sad that I've somehow lost all will to play Makai Kingdom. I was so obsessed with it and now it's just like: :wonder:

Well I finally unlocked 7 karts per character on Mario Kart DS. I also unlocked Mirror Mode. Although I'm bummed that it is limited to the GP races. No Mirror Mode in Time Trial? Booooooooo!! You suck, Nintendo!!
I was playing DBZ: SSW2's Free Battle mode and the comp was Broly and it unleashed a 111 hit beam Rush against my Perfect Cell. No, that is not a type it was actually 111 hits.:wow: Meaning Broly is even more broken than I originally thought he was. I'm gonna figure out how to get that 111 hit Rush. Oh, I forgot to mention that my Perfect Cell survived the Rush. He was in the red in health but he survived. And you can get Majin Vegeta by selecting Super Saiyan Vegeta and Babidi.

my girl brought home a sealed copy of the 50 cent ps2 game from work so im taking it to EB today for a trade-in. Im not sure what to get yet. I've been eye-ing Shadow of Rome recently - is it any good? Also, which Norrath game is the best, and is it still fun to play if you arent online? Pyscho Gorath, Ultimate Spider-Man is a lot of fun. The boss fights have and old-school feel to them and the story is the best of any Spider-Man game ever. The swinging system is more simplified from Spider-Man 2, but even so, Ultimate Spidey is a far, far better game.
More on DBZ: SSW2. I beat the Hard setting on Maximum Mode. That unlocked the Mania setting. I'm a little nervous about how tough the AI will be on Mania but also kinda excited. Beating Hard mode was challenging but fun so I can't wait to see what Mania will be like.

Champions of Norrath: Return to Arms is better IMO...that's the 2nd game...more character classes cooler levels, weapons, spells, etc. etc. Ummm it is more fun to play offline than it is online...online champions is fucking stupid everyone and their dog who can even hold a controler cheats...and every item is duped 23432 times...no fun at all...but ya i also wondered if it was fun to play offline before i bought it, and it is mad fun...so ya...Ultimate spider-man, is an average game at best...

Yeah I thought magna carta was the shit in the first few hours, but then its just turned to "ok". The battle system I really think is crap. You only fight with one character pretty much, and theres way to much shit to learn in terms of chi and all that garbage. I feel like I need to take a course to learn all the crap in this game. I'd give it a 5/10.

I'm playing through the Mania setting in Maximum Mode on DBZ: SSW2. I've having serious trouble with SS Goku, SS Vegeta and Broly. It's like they do double damage with their Rush attacks. Even some of the strongest teams (Cell, Super Buu, SS2 Gohan) get pwned against them.
Mario Kart DS: I busted out this awesome Time Trial record on Mario Circuit 1 with Mario. Totally blew away my Yoshi Ghost and time. The old time as Yoshi is 57:400. The new time as Mario is 54:970 and I bet I can do even better than that. Man, I love the Time Trial mode in this gme.

DBZ: SSW2. Well I got past SS Goku, SS Vegeta, and Broly on Maximum Mode. Man, they were tough. I used Super Buu, SS3 Gotenks and Hercule (support) as a team against them. I unlocked SS3 Gotenk's ability to tap into even more power as a SS3 (he has electricity around him) and started beasting on SS Goku. After I beat them, I was me agasint a single Perfect Cell. I thought "This seems kinda unfair to Perfect Cell." That was until I saw how fast he could move. I mean, he's faster than fast. And he could shoot his Kamehameha Wave from anywhere on the screen, as opposed to being at the bottom of the screen like usual. I just barely beat him with support from Hercule and Super Buu, who had practically no life left.
Mario Kart DS: Finally got first on all races in a 150cc Mirror mode. I did it on the Star Cup using Standard Peach. I'm stil bummed that there are no Mirror Time Trial tracks. That's just gay.
After checking out the Animal Crossing: Wild World thread, I want that game even more now. But I can't afford a $50 purchase to get Nintend's wi-fi connector. Not right now anyway. Man, life sucks.

The Ridge Racer 6 madness continues. Played from 10pm last night to 4am this morning straight. I spent 2+ hours trying to beat the infamous duel race on Route #17 without success.. That had to be the hardest race I have ever completed in my life, even the F-Zero X courses on master difficulty seemed easier. That muther fucking rocket-propelled bastard seems to have an infinite nitrous bar and is not ashamed to use it. I got so damn frustrated with it. I came within .2 seconds of beating him but never could. Got back up this morning and beat the bastard in less than 10 minutes, go figure, but you can bet your ass I saved that replay.
I then played a bunch of online games and got mollywhopped until I won 3 in a row, and shot my rank up from 152 to 108. The amount of registered players online went from 600 to 3500 after the game hit Japan. This game plays great online, even playing peeps from Japan, the game is smooth as silk online.

well I ended up getting Champions: Return to Arms. I only played it a little bit as I'm not going to really start until I finish RE4. First impressions are that the graphics are really good, the voice over is good, The races are cool (I settled on the dark elf shadowknight or whatever), the camera is a little trippy, I thought it would be more 'follow you around your shoulder' style and I also thought it would be a wide open world that you would traverse and then enter the various dungeons you came across, versus the menu system this seems to be. Guess I will have to wait for Oblivion for that. Looking forward to playing though. And I see that the online stuff is free so maybe I will look into that.

The way the dual screen is used for 2d platformers is so simple yet it really adds to the game, can't wait to see Mario on this thing as well. I'll be picking up Kirby Canvas, Puyo Pop, Viewtiful Joe:Scratch(Double Trouble), Phoenix Wright, Meteos and abunch of imports to play on this system over the next several months.

My fellow SRKers, I have completed what was quite possibly the hardest task I've ever had to take on in all my years of gaming. The game was Dragon Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors 2. I was at Level 20, the last stage on the Mania setting on Maximum mode. For those of you that don't know, Mania is the highest, most difficult setting on Maximum Mode. I'd beaten solo Perfect Cell, soly Broly and a tough team of Majin Vegeta, Perfect Cell and SS2 Gohan. But none of those fights could have prepared me for a SS Goku that was Ultra Broken. His speed was beyond anything I've ever seen. His ki did not decrease and some of his single punches took away more than a quater of my life. He could also shot the Kamehameha Wave whenever he wanted AND he could grab and throw me from anywhere on the screen. Anywhere on the freaking screen!!! 3 of the strongest fighters in the game (Super Buu, SS3 Gotenks, SS2 Gohan) got beasted against him in no time. After numerous tries, I finally beat him. I finished him off with SS3 Gotenks. Gotenks life was in the red, BTW. Let this be a headsup to anyone with SSW2 playing on Mania. Level 20 SS Goku WILL. BEAST. ON. YOU. He will anal rape you so fast, you won't realize it until after the abomination act has long been done. If you fight him, it will make the beasting we all recieved by Bison in SFII seem like a love tap. Not saying that it can't be done. But it will drive you up the friggin wall.
On to a different note, I've been kicking it old-school, SNES style. A friend of mine let me borrow his Demon's Crest. I beat the first level last night and that's when it went all RPG on me. I see a mode-7 map, an inventory, different types of crests to equip, shops, etc. I may have to go to Gamefaqs for info because I'm not sure where to go or what to do next.
I also played Tetris Attack last night. I was gonna wait until I got Dr. Mario Puzzle League but I just couldn't wait any longer. Man, this game is too good. But I choked way early on. I gotta keep playing like a madman like I did back in '97 to get all my skills back. The good thing is, I was able to see combos & chains of 2, 8, 5, and 7. Years ago, I would always get that stuff by accident but now, heh, now I can see that stuff ahead of time. Age does bring wisdom.

Phantasy Star Online---the saga continues! PSO! PSO FOREVA!
So I did some power-leveling for "DOOKIEMAN" in the past few days. Yes, thanks to the "addicting games" thread recently...my love for PSO has been rekindled. Dookie is currently at 129 if I recall. Just a couple of levels more, and he will finally be able to use Smoking Plate Armor...thus, his evolution to "Hot Shit" form will be complete.
Perfect A.I. continues to be a pain to level up. He's still only level 82. Perfect has access to the Soul of a Blacksmith quest, but he's still not strong enough to just blaze through that like Dookieman can.(*Dookie can run through the Forest part and beat the dragon in about 13 minutes, which is niiiice... = 51,000+ exp in 13 minutes is good stuff.) Still, a powerful android is much more fun to play than a weak one. HUcast becomes more fun to play once you just go ahead and max out that sumbitch's Accuracy(fuck being legit. Hunter Accuracy is a damn joke....hell yes I cheat-maxed out just that stat. His other stats are normal though). It also becomes more interesting since the androids get more traps as they get more powerful/evolved. I love those Freeze traps...unlike magic...freeze traps work all the time if the monsters are within the range.
for any old PSO fans...the PSO Cheats forum is back with new forums! Unfortunately, they just seem to focus on PSO Blue Burst cheating at the moment. I wish they had all the old cheats for pso GC/Xbox version up again...I can't seem to find my old notes...it's probably on the older computer. I think I have the dupe method written down in the instruction manual though...
I actually found 2 Red Handguns on recent SoaB runs! I think they were back to back runs too! That's crazy, since my luck in finding rares has always been absolute crap in the PSO games.

I think tonight will be good for some quality time with my precious Unreal Championship 2. Been playing Rogue Galaxy for the past week and I've got to say that it's a pretty good rpg. It's from Level5 (dq8, dark cloud..) and it's almost like KH (which I think is shit) but has a sci-fi feel to it.
The game has NO LOADING save for one screen when you load a save file or start a new game. Graphically, it's really nice too haha. Too bad the whole game is in jpnse and no domestic release for a year or so.

*sigh* I'm at the last battle in Price of Persia: The Two Thrones and I really don't feel like finishing it. It doesn't seem like it's gonna be much of an ending. The game is fun.... but I wanted more stuff. I didn't get any cool shit. Most of the game I was waiting to get a cool weapon that never came (getting his father's sword doesn't count and it isn't that special anyway). The game has some fun shit..... but I was hoping for more. And it also bugs me that the commercial shows shit that isn't in the damn game (like FMVs where teh Prince is riding in the carriage and the arrows fly right by him? Nope. Not in the game). It's fun, but it's no God of War. I'm gonna sell it and maybe x-Men Leends II for something else (maybe DBZ Budikai Tenkachi)
This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:
Oh and for whomever wanted to know about Atelier Iris..... I wouldn't waste my time. The battle system is very drab and so-so. The fun thing about the game is going to the stores making new foods and and armor and bombs and shit like that. But if the battle system is only so-so then the game isn't fun, IMO.

I have been playing xenogears and Astroboy: Omega Factor lately. First time on xenogears, and I am really enjoying it. I may have to pick up a PS2 to play the xenosagas. Astroboy however is amazing. I love this game! I can't believe I've had a gameboy for a year and I hadn't gotten this yet. Hopefully I'll get some more games next saturday, but I don't know if the wife will let me play'em.

Million, it seems like it has been an eternity since you posted anything about PSO. Is the game any fun offline or is it better played online? If it is fun offline, I may consider picking it up in the future. Although I may have to settle for the Xbox version because the GC version is an endangered spiecies.
I picked up DBZ manga vol. 23 and Majin Buu made his first appearence. This got me thinking of forming a new team in DBZ: SSW2. So I made Team Super Majin, which consists of Fat Buu, Majin Vegeta, and SS3 Gotenks. They have no tag team moves but they are still one seriously powerful team. Majin Vegeta's powerful beam Rush ki attacks hit hard. SS3 Gotenks Galatic Donut attack is a massive 30 something hit Rush. And Fat Buu, while slow is very freaking powerful. I'll form more teams later in the week.
Gonna play some more Demon's Crest tonight. My friend called and told me you can go through each level 3 times and fight different bosses. I'm hoping that also means I can get more crests because the other enemies in different levels are owning me like a scrub in SFII: HF.
Some quick impressions on Dr. Mario/Puzzle League. Dr. Mario is the same, simple fun it's always been with some slightly different-sounding themes of Fever and Chill. Also, Que Que is now called Sneez and it doesn't sound as good as it did in Dr. Mario 64. Also by getting a certain amount of points in both games, you can unlock long modes of each title. You basically tilt your GB Micro/GBA SP/DS vertically to play. I haven't played much of it, but it is a bit tough to play on the DS in Puzzle League. IMO, Puzzle League plays just fine without the long mode. The rock solid gameplay is still intact, even if there are no cute and fuzzy Yoshi's Island characters. I just wish there were different music selections like there are in Dr. Mario. Marathon mode as far as I know only gives you one tune to listen to. Feh.

PSO is probably a love it or hate it experience. If you like hack/slash type rpgs, and are a fan of customization with regard to characters, you'll more than likely love PSO, even though it's quite outdated now(originally a Dreamcast game, with only minor graphical improvements for the shift to GC and Xbox) This is "real deal" role-playing to me. I prefer to create my characters, and kinda follow my own story there, even if it is mostly in my imagination. The fact that PSO's plot is barely there only serves to compliment this, imo. The story is not such a dominant force in the experience, so I can play right along with the backstory in my mind of the character I made. However, I also happen to enjoy what little story is there....the whole thing with Dark Falz(*a recurring evil in the Phantasy Star universe), Flowen, Ragol, ...it's good, imo. I also like some subplots, such as the sidequest with Calus and that cute girl...I never got to finish that though...it was online-only, and a Gibbles(*some ridiculously strong monster...the "Hulk" of PSO if you will) would always kill the girl before I could do anything about it.(*girl dies = quest over)
So, when will the Gunstar Super Heroes be out? I need to get that immediately...because GBA games disappear so fast it's just pitiful.

I started X-Men Legends from the beginning again. Stopped somewhere at the beginning of the Alaska mission. Final verdict. Shitty game.
I might start a new game in Ultimate Spider-Man to pick up any missed story bits.

naw the ending isn't that great, but i never played the sands of time or WW, so I can't really compare. ubisoft games tend to have bad endings. i play these types of games more of the journey then the end though.
anyway, the final battle is pretty fun and somewhat climatic. you should beat it before you sell it, I just beat it too and sold it for 44 on ebay.

Still playing KOF 98', and now I'm getting into Real Bout Fatal Fury 2. I'm also considering picking up God of War in early Jan (expecting to go Greatest Hits next month), and waiting for Neo Geo Battle Coliseum to come out this Thursday.
Got back up this morning and beat the bastard in less than 10 minutes, go figure, but you can bet your ass I saved that replay.
I can't count how many times I've done that on a game - been stuck for hours even on one spot. I shut it off and come back the next morning and find the solution near instantly.

Dr. Mario/Puzzle League: Turns out you can select from 14 different tunes in Puzzle League and change the stage background in the game. Nice features. Also, Dr. Mario has hooked me once again. I thought for sure I would give all of my time to Puzzle League bu Dr. M just reels me in like a bass. And you can finally save your high scores in both games. I can finally record my high scores in Puzzle League for braging rights.
Final Fantasy IV Advance: Yes, the old-school FF games were and still are the best FF games. OK so I haven't played it yet but my friend played my copy of the game and made it through the first cave. The music sounds awesome and the world map theme, the best world map music in ANY FF game is simplay amazing. GBA games with stereo sound = a very beautiful thing.
EDIT: Gunstar Super Heroes is already out. It's been out since October I believe.

30 hours wowzers. i'm not trying to be a dick here, but it took me about 55 hours to beat it the first time through, it will probably take you 60-70 to beat the game.
yeah that part isn't that great, in fact, that part is kind of slow, and one of the more boring parts. kislev or nortune right? yeah If I had to pick one part of the game to be the most boring, that would be the part. keep playing. after you leave kislev, it starts to pick up and progress at a fast pace. im guessing all you've done is gone around in the desert and caves, and went to nisan. i'm sure you've heard of "ethos", you get to go there right kislev, and there are some revelations in the story that makes it interesting and engaging.
you're about 40 percent done game wise, but only 30 percent done storywise. so you haven't gotten to the good parts yet because you don't understand everything. just imo. this is coming from someone who hates rpgs now, but xenogears is definitely worth finishing.

I couldn't help but post it again here, for the 3 or 4 people that know or even care to read my frustration with the whole UC2 fiasco...from a thread discussing "cool things about Unreal Championship 2"
-cool/interesting character designs.
-the superhuman powers/abilities....makes it more than "just another shooter".
-unparalleled mobility of the characters...the UC2 cast could seemingly run/fly circles around just about anyone else from any other FPS game. Random UC2 character vs. Anyone else---it's the same as Spiderman or even Flash vs. a regular human. The resulting domination would just be ridiculous. Anyway, the control feels perfect for all the chaos and fast action, imo.
-the option for 3rd person view...again..something else that gets it away from being "just another shooter". It's an odd thing...though I enjoy FPS...ever since the beginning with Doom(*at least for me...I never played Wolfenstein3d), I've always thought "I'd probably like this even more if I could see my character.." I realize that kinda goes against one of the basic points of the genre...but there it is.
-Melee--more than "just another shooter". I thought it was pulled off just fine...not really too complex, and not too simple.
-Overall atmosphere/mood. The music, graphics, the maps, the cool announcers--it's all excellent. Probably the only thing I'd add on this note would be some bit of live commentary during the matches...at least for the single player/storymode experience. Eh, nah...the occasional "RAMPAGE!" and such announcements are enough for me. I love it. Oh yes, I'm all over UC2's nutsack. It's just a damn shame that the vast majority of FPS fans want nothing BUT something that is "just another shooter". Yeah, guys. Thanks for destroying any hopes of that funny little thing I like to call "evolution", aka "progress", etc.

Dragon Ball Z: SSW2
Well I took Team Novice (Young Gohan, Krillin, Piccolo) through Z Battle mode and set a new record in the top five. In one tough fight I scored 173,960 points with them. I like using them but when it comes to tougher opponents like Broly, Fat Buu, Super Buu, SS3 Gotenks and Perfect Cell, they are far and away outclassed. They are more suited for Free Battle mode or if you really want a challenge in Z battle. I also got another high score with Perfect Cell, Broly and Gohan (although I really didn't use Gohan until the last fight against SS Goku in Z Battle.) They ranked right under Team Novice with 158,370 points. My highest score I obtained was with Cooler last week in his story mode. I got 301,350 points with him. That's even higher than what I got with Super Buu (218,300)
Dr. Mario & Puzzle League
I think I still need to adjust to playing Puzzle League on a smaller screen. I guess I could go for Long Mode but I'm just not used to that yet. So far my highest score in Marathon mode is only 37196. That pales in comparison to the numbers I busted out on the SNES Tetris Attack. My highest score on Timed mode is only 4149. Ugh. I so suck. Maybe I still haven't entered the zone yet. Too many distrations are around me when I play at times. As for Dr. Mario I beat my high score of 11000 that I obtained last night. My high is now 133000. Yes, I know that sucks but when I screw up in Dr. M, I REALLY screw up. A few ill-placed pills can spell disaster in this game. I was on one level where I only needed one blue virus cleared to beat the stage, ONE. Problem? Too many freaking pills were EVERYWHERE.

Just pwned Scarmiglione and became a Paladin. Man, this game is so freaking tight. The story, dialogue and characters are still amazing after all these years. This was the game I bought some Sony headphones for. I wanted to be able to hear the sweet, sweet musical score. I recieved Neo Geo Battle Coliseum on Friday - this game rocks. All the characters and moves, and the backgrounds are PHENOMENAL. On top of that, it's just fun to play.
Only gripe is the loading is atrocious, and there's no excuse. If you play through Arcade mode, get ready for a LOT of loading. Just play the Tag Battle mode - you still get the endings, and you get to play MvC style - until both characters on either team are defeated.
It's great to see Lee Pai Long and the Jin Twins in action again. Hanzo, Fuuma, and Mr. Big. I've unlocked all of the hidden characters, including Athena, Mizochi (Orochi with different moves), Goodman, Shisioh (King Lion), and Mars People. I believe I'm forgetting to list someone, but in short the game is fun and it has a LOT of characters.
Check it out if you ever get the chance.

still going strong with taito legends, mostly battleshark, return of the invaders, rastan, volfied, and zoo keeper.
Main game im playing right now is champions return to arms which im having a blast with. after some tooling around i finally decided on vah shir beserker and im up to level 15 now.
I've been "playing" Wild ARMs since summertime, but I've been stuck. The puzzle is too boggling for me. I'm stuck inside the book "De Le Metalica" and there's supposed to be some kind of interaction between some bookshelves and the information prompt they give (Or so I would assume) and some empty treasure chests. It's been driving me so crazy I almost want to be a wuss and go to GameFAQs to end my inaction. But before consulting a guide of any kind, I always considered it better to ask someone I knew.
Nobody knows, so I turn to SRK.

Yuor post reminds me of why I decided to play Mega Man 3 on the MMAC. I gave my NES to my cousin in '92 and I wanted to get another one so for Christmas of '93, my father got me a used NES along with Mega Man 2-4. I beat all three games on Christmas '93 (MM3, I used the high jump code/glitch) but since MM3 is my favorite MM game, I just had to play it today. For some reason, MM3 was especially generous to me this time. The game handed out extra lives as if they were candy. I got 3 extra lives in Gemini Man's stage by shooting tadpoles. By the game's end I had 16 lives. :wonder:
Merry Christmas, everyone!

Started playing R-type Final again. Got up to this point where its an extra stage and if you die once its no continues just game over. And it happens to be the last level depending on what you do in the other levels. 10 seconds into the level there 4 ships infront of you that I havent even seen. I destroy one while the other 3 lock onto me and shoot bullets 2-3 as fast as anything in the game. Which totally surprised me and I dont feel like starting over cause its 6:30 AM

I'm playing Killzone alot. Single player experience > all. For real. I'm one of the few that actually like the reloading animations (it gives way to more strategy, duck&cover tactics, etc).
The framerate sucks. That's the only major complaint I can lodge against this game.
But the story, characters, voice acting, terrain (nice mix of urban and jungle settings), enemy AI (although the number of enemy types could've been more varied), and weapons all are pretty good.

About MGS3s, did the edits that Kojima made for some of the cut-scenes make it into the main game? Or are all the cut-scenes the same when you play it, and edited for the third disc(ask if that made no sense)? Can't wait until this thing comes out over here.

HeaT -- there is no dodge-jumping in UC2. One interesting defensive technique is reflecting, though. This simple thing changes it drastically from being "another FPS"...since you really can't just blast away at people until someone dies...I like this; it adds another layer of depth to how you approach various situations....trying to fake someone out, taking a shot after they're in the reflect animation, which weapon is worth rejecting, which weapon is worth the risk from an offensive perspective, wondering if your opponent will even try the rejection, etc.
THEN, there's the Necris charged shot. This is something else in the mix, as if someone is foolish enough to reflect that...the Necris will gain health! It's always amusing when I fire off a charged up shot from Brock or Judas, and people either forget about this, or they didn't know....and I get a free "heal" out of it. So, basically they either have to manually try to dodge that, or just block it. Actually, I'm not even sure....I guess those charged shots are blockable? I'm not sure, as it's been several months since I've even thought about blocking it. If it's not a Necris, I usually reflect...
I played this almost non-stop over the holiday weekend. I love this game so much...
..and I recently came to a conclusion. I'm definitely not one of the best UC2 players out there, so I could be wrong here....but I think Anubis is clearly the best character, if there were ever a rankings/tier listing. I finally went back to playing this character more this past weekend....DAMNNNN I didn't even know how useful that "Energy Burst" was! I was curious as I remember quite a few people bitching(as usual) about "stupid n00bs and their gay energy burst." People flock to certain characters and tactics for a reason, folks. Energy Burst is just The Shit, and that's a fact.
-2 or more people fighting in a reasonably small area = the Anubis player should jump at this opportunity, and R-dash into the fray and immediately EB the crowd. Hey, it's DEATHMATCH, folks...you have to be a vulture-bastard if you expect to get the kills. More than likely, they've worn each other out by the time you get there, hopefully the R-dash hits someone, and the EB definitely kills that guy....and possibly the others. If they don't also die, they should be close to it. This only gets more ridiculous if you have U-damage. A UDamage EB is NICE. Anyway, the EB always has potential for easy multi-kills....so the Anubis player will always have this advantage over everyone else, particularly on smaller maps.
-Desparation = it's down to the wire...a few more shots and that's it for you...Energy Burst can save your ass if it happens to kill the other guy. If you've been engaged in a firefight with him for any length of time (with something other than weak pistols), most likely it will get him, and you're safe to go replenish some health.
-Intimidation = people know the Anubis player is going to EB when you get close, so they're already approaching most situations out of fear....you get close, and the other guy is probably thinking "oh shit....here it comes..", which could throw him off his game. This is beautiful; you're attacking him on a psychological level here.
It's just such a beautiful attack. This is clearly one of the best abilities in the game. It's pretty much instant, and hits everything in a 360º range around Anubis, all at the same time.
Man, I just wish Judas' "Vampire Cloud"(or what I like to call the "Blood Fart") even had a comparable range to Energy Burst. VCloud is the same basic thing, except it heals Judas! The sad thing, is that the range is just pitiful compared to EB. Even if they increased VC's range just a little, to make it closer to EB, I would probably play Judas 90% of the time....and he would be one of the best characters in the game.
I love Unreal Champ2 so much...so much...
*earlier today, I got a genuine "UNHOLY!" for the first time. By "genuine", I mean just in normal play against some bots....nothing set up and easy, like me vs. all Devastations, using Apophis for EMP+Udamage, and it wasn't on Evil Hands map. I forgot where it was, but I was Jackhammer(aka "Nappa", heh), I picked up U-Damage...and I was just on a roll...I could not be stopped!

I don't know if I posted about it but Sonic Rush is the shit. It was the "other" game I bought when I got the MKDS bundle and this game is just to fucking sick.
Gameplay wise it's a cross between Genesis Sonic, NiGHTS and Jet Set Radio combined with the use of dual screens to open up levels and gameplay. This game is a blast.
Graphically it's just beautiful. Renderin Blaze and Sonic with polygons was a nice touch.
I love this game.
My next game will probably be Puyo Pop.

Mostly in grinding-one button trick way. I know there was grinding in SA2 but I don't remember if you could tap the button to switch stances for more points. The grinding is simple (only three stances with the third stance being the longest of them all) but you still need to time with the coins and what not to add up the points.
Maybe it's me, but the grinding aspect reminded me of JSR. Get SR regardless. I should've busted out the DS a couple of weeks ago when we were playing FGs with Josh and Ryan at Mark's apt. so you could check it out.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (My custom techno/trance ver.)
I haven't played MvC2 seriously in months. My buddy Justin gave me a call and told me that he and Mike were up for some fighting games. So I went to Justin's place and we played a long session of the game. Like I said, I hadn't played seriously in a long time so my skills were rusty. I got out one win against Justin and that was with Mega Man, Tron Bonne, and Sakura. He even had Ken and I just kept beasting on him with my assists. It was nuts. Probably 80% of my hits on him were done by assists.
Dragon Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors 2
It's nice to get in a few games of Z Battle. It's quick and a lot of fun. I hate to say it but Gohan (Majin Buu Saga) just isn't as good or powerful as Young Gohan in the game. SS2 Gohan will beast on Gohan even when he has his full power unlocked. I'd forgotten how awesome SS Vegeta is. Majin Vegeta is awesome but he's lacking a move like Final Flash. Also, Fat Buu has grown on me.
Final Fantasy IV Advance
I'm leveling up my party, which currently consists of Cecil, Palom, Parom, and Tellah. We're about to enter Baron via the a warp through Mysidia. I'm just glad Edward is no longer in my party. I forgot tha Heal uses recovery items in your inventory and the little snot hid every time his HP got low. I never gave him the command to hide he just did it anyway.

The new Gauntlet is FANTASTIC, folks. Don't let annoyingly jaded/picky reviewers fool you. This is the definitive version of Gauntlet, imo. Of course I played as the wizard. Magic characters are usually my choice in games like that. For me it's like....playing as a fighter from ufc....or playing as a GOD. Really, I think the choice is obvious. I want magical powers. The art on the cinemas is great too....I'm surprised they went with 2d illustrations, when everyone usually goes for 3d cinemas these days. Bonus cool points for that.
^and with those words, apparently my jinx effect struck again. I've read some horrible things over at the gfaqs board for this game. Apparently the 4 characters shown in the commercials are all there is to play(*the fuck?!FOUR characters? Get that crap outta here. I like the wizard, but come on...I need variety too.), and the game is too short, things were cut due to budget/time problems from Midway, etc. Guess I'll wait 'til the game is 20 bucks or so. 7 Sorrows gave me one hell of a cool first impression though. This should really be no surprise to me at this point. As per the jinx effect, whenever I really like a game...then something goes horribly wrong, and results in a completely ruined experience.

Bad news. Palom and Parom turned themselves into stone to save Cecil and friends. Sure, I knew it was going to happen but when that sad music started playing it was as if someone had broken out the violens. Those brats were really rising in power.

I feel like such a power whore. I keep making teams of Sayians and villians. I love Piccolo and Krillin but they just don't have the power of SS Goku, SS Vegeta, Perfect Cell, SS3 Gotenks, Good Buu or Super Buu. And SS Goku & SS Vegeta fusing to form Vegito and use the Super Bajit Sword = Too. Freaking. Cool.

New purchase. Really didn't plan on buying any new games for a while but when I saw the combo pack of Sonic Advace and Sonic Pinball Party for $20, it was hard to pass up. I've always wanted to play Sonic Advance but no matter where I went, it was always selling for $30. From the reviews I've skimmed they both seem to be good games.

UnrealChampionship2---I actually won a match! It's a big deal to me since I rarely beat real people in this game...and this was my first day back online in many, many months. It was first to 30 frags...and I hit the frag limit, with the #2 player (*I think it was 6 or 7 people total) being at 24 or so frags.
For the first time, I actually made occasional use of Ethereal...the real benefit of that power, at least the way I see it, is to sneak up on people. It's easy to take someone by surprise if from a distance you tend to blend in with the scenery....and of course, it makes the average person just give up trying to snipe you. For those who are unfamiliar with the game(*everyone, pretty much*)...this power makes the player become two "ghosts", similar to the Matrix Twins. Of course, it then becomes difficult for your enemies, as they don't know which ghost is the real you, and which one is an illusion. Anyway, I was using Wraith mode more often, of course. This is what necris is all about, really...Wraith is possibly the best adrenaline ability in the game---you can't be poisoned or frozen, you are immune to flash, and other things I forgot....you take 25% less damage from every attack, and you have better vision(*environment becomes black/white/grey, and people appear as red figures which stand out sharply against the background....this is the necris seeing "life force" apparently.)....and...you can't be locked on...I think it even counters Devastation's Head Turret, apparently. It's also impossible for someone to tell you're low on health.(*lock on also shows how the person is doing on health, with colors representing this) There's other things it counters, I'm sure. Wraith in this game may just be one of the best defensive powers ever in a videogame. I'm surprised this isn't one of the things players of UC2 bitch about as being "cheap". Really, the only downside to Wraith mode is that it becomes difficult to see whether or not someone has UDamage, or whether or not they are using other powers...since they show up to you as just a bright red figure. Oh yeah...and this improved vision also reveals the true position of someone using Ethereal or Invisibility! Also, you can't take it away with Fear or Primal Scream. Wraith is The Shit™, pure and simple.
I also went back to my first weapon love---my precious Flak cannon! I figured this is actually the best weapon for a Necris character's Vampire ability....since the primary fire has such wide coverage...shoot it into a crowd, and you're bound to hit someone...it's like Spread shot from Contra. This goes perfectly with Vampire mode. Plus, the secondary fire is at least slightly more difficult to reflect than rockets, and nearly everyone uses rockets.
The people I fought against must've sucked, but I don't care...a win is a win. This is truly one of the greatest games of all time, imo. I don't care that most fps fans wouldn't like it. If I made a top 100 list of the greatest...UC2 is easly top 10 material for me.

I agree with you whole-heartedly. One of my favorite games of all-time. It's a shame so many elitist snobs and bitches won't even give it a chance. It really plays very well, and the melee combat was well-implemented. I've gone as far as getting 2 copies of the game and setting one Xbox up as a dedicated server and playing with the other one.

For the other 2 or 3 people that play UC2...what does a juggernaut character's Coup De Gra look like? Here's the problem with CDGs for me:
-I just can't do them...at least not the normal ones. I could *maybe* do the secret ones, since they are always the same button sequence. Brock has a simple one, and since the secret CDGs are always the same input, I just memorized his. I really have a problem going from the normally crazy pace of this game to a Mortal Kombat "FINISH HIM!" type of situation....it's strange...it's like something that glitches my very mind due to the abrupt change in the gameplay situation....I just can't do it. You have to go from jumping off walls and airdashing, shielding, trying headshots, activating powers and thinking of fast-strategies....to reading a very small button prompt, AFTER getting close to someone who is frozen and "locking on"...it's just too much. I can't do it. It's too much of a change-up from every other situation in the game.
-Juggies present another problem, as they don't have a freeze shot like every other character....their only way would be to hit someone 3 times, or block 3 melee attempts, if I recall....hitting them 3 times is a problem since the Juggies are stronger, and thus, this would more likely result in death, rather than a frozen enemy....and most people would not be foolish enough to trade hits with a Jugg character in the first place. I've never seen a Jackhammer/Gorge/Arclite CDG, and I realize I probably never will.
Anyway, I stopped even trying to do CDGs a long time ago. Normally, when someone is frozen, I'll either try for a headshot, or just shoot them...or go for a heavy melee strike if they happened to be rather weak on health.
Wraith mode for life... (*I wish there was a real world equivalent of the "necris process". I'd sign up for it immediately.)

Got in some Free Battle on DBZ: SSW2 while I was waiting for my comp to reboot. I made a team of SS2 Gohan, SS3 Gotenks and Super Buu and pwned with a new high score in rank 3 of 185570. I kept abusint Super Buu's Zex Breaker on Broly and Super Buu. The brokeness in that move is while it gets in Rush hits you can dash toward your opponent and just hit them for more Rushes. I kept doing this to Fat Buu and finally finished him off with Super Buu & SS3 Gotenk's Team Arts Galatic Donuts. Too good, too good.

The UnrealChamp2 update:
Up to 10 wins as of last night.….still “Adept” status…
I got completely dominated by someone…can’t remember the name, but he played Selket. Dude was UNTOUCHABLE. Everything he did was perfection...perfect sniper shots, perfect rejections(*perhaps aided by the fact he was hosting, but for real, he was clearly way above my skill level), he managed to always use Flash JUST when I happened to not be in Wraith mode or not have enough Adren for it....…
but then, I came back in a different match slaughtering some folks(probably some sucky players, but once again...a win is a win to me). Melee whores are the easiest to kill, generally speaking….I'd bait out their attacks and back up out of the range ---face full of Flak shot primary for you! I finished one of these matches by a spectacular comeback from 2nd or 3rd place..ohhh it was close...fraglimit was only 15, and someone else took first and had 14 already...but what's this?!…DOUBLE KILL!, I switched to Wraith mode, and the final kill was with some gorgeous Flak to someone's face. Oh my God it was beautiful. I should've recorded this....since I won in Wraith mode, Judas was there in the winning pose in that form, for a rare look at just how tight Wraith mode looks. It was definitely one of the coolest win poses I've ever seen.
-I fought a Lauren player previously that didn't realize her freeze shots would only heal me....it was amusing to me. If I had the mic on I should've said something like "thanks for the heal", so they could learn to not do that...in a roundabout way.
-another cool moment...I was leading my shots on a few players perfectly....it was great. With certain movements on my part, it was almost as if I was making them run right into my shots.
-I should've switched out to Brock in this one match, as this guy kept using one of the jugg characters' "Unstoppable" mode....I LOVE shutting down an Unstoppable with Fear...I almost get sexually aroused from doing that.

last night's UnrealChamp2 Moment of Awesomeness™:
-fighting close-quarters with...someone...heh, I can never remember all these "•©xOMagicKiLLaXX" names online...but yeah, I was fighting him, and I noticed another dude halfway across the map, trying to snipe me. I think he had a Necris character as well, so he should've went ahead and used Ethereal or something...I would not have been able to see him then...
-So, while fighting this other guy close up, I occasionally took shots at the sniper in the distance, unfortunately with a Shock primary. I killed the guy I was fighting primarily, then saw the same dude still trying to snipe...he tried 2 more shots I think, and I happened to successfully reject the third one. I've said it before....I'll say it again...there's not much else out there in a "kinda"FPS(mostly 3rdPersonShooter, really. Nobody plays 1st-person.) that can compete with a "REJECTED!"-"HEADSHOT!" situation. It's just so beautiful...I almost had an orgasm off that. It wasn't just any RejectedHeadshot.....it was a RejectedHeadshot from halfway across the damn map. I'm getting all pumped up just remembering it. I'd love to go back in time just to get that on tape. I went on to win that particular match, btw. haha...I can't believe I'm somehow beating people in this game now....just every now and then...but it's still a surprise. I'm so used to always losing back when I first got online.
Actually, I think I will record tonight's action...of course, just my luck...I'll end up recording a match where I happen to be playing someone who is totally destroying me with little to no effort....or one of those unlucky matches, where every possible thing that can go wrong is going wrong. I'm sure most other FPS fans are familiar with this....those days when you know you are better-skilled than at least some of the people in the match, but you keep dying to random unlucky bullshit.
I love UC2 so much...if there was a truly portable Xbox, I would even play this game at work on breaks and lunch. I know there's the portable screens, but I haven't see the Xbox version of that in a long time...actually, I haven't seen ANY of those lately.
Gunstar SuperHeroes--I fought the greatness that is Seven Force yesterday on lunchbreak....with all the stuff going on on that stage, I'm surprised I even made it to that boss fight in the first place.

I'm getting a ton of portable gaming in but I just don't know what to play on my consoles. Until I get my purple GC controller back I can't play anything on my 'Cube. So all I've got is my PS2. I could resume my game on Burnout 3. I've gotten pretty far along in then World Tour Mode. Then there's Viruta Fighter 4: Evo, THE KING of 3D fighters. I've gotten a Warrior title with SPIDEYGOKU Pai. She's my fav character along with Kage. I also haven't even come close to beating GTA: SA. And I still haven't gotten past Make a Star 7 on Katamari Damacy, which is why I haven't opened We <3 Katamari. Haven't finished Mega Man X Command Mission either.
On FFIV Advance, I just got done wth the Magnetic Cave. Man, that place was annoying. Orges were probably the most annoying creature to encounter. Surprisingly, all my party members faired pretty well in the cave. I just wish Tellah would take his turns faster. Two of my boys can attack before he actually goes through with his command. Next up is the Tower of Zot. Ugggh. That place was a huge thorn in my side in the SNES version. I'm leveling up my boys and buying a ton of stuff before I go in there. If memory serves, once I go in there, I can't get out until I've finished it.

I've been recording matches now on Unreal Championship 2. It's great to review the tape when you happened to have a good match. I happened to get one on tape where I absolutely DOMINATED these 2 guys that were playing...it's not really that great of an accomplishment though, as they appeared to be very new to the game or something...still....when it was over, I don't remember the score...I just remember it wasn't even close. The match was totally lopsided, skill-wise...in my favor....like I was Pre-Crisis Superman, beating up on some 7th grade kids. When I hit the fraglimit, I had Invisibility, U-Damage, and I think Wraith Mode on all at the same time.
*I also won 2 matches if I recall...with a Masterful-level player in the mix. Most of the other matches though were all him though....perhaps I just got lucky against him those 2 times.
*As some others have complained on this game---MELEE. <<the simple fact is, this isn't anywhere near as dominant in the game as you think, folks. I've come to LOVE fighting people who try to use melee against me 90% of the time...because they usually aren't that skilled at it, and this becomes an easy kill for me. Flak to the face = you're dead.
So far there is really only one thing I'd be tempted to call "cheap shit" in this game...and that's the damn Biorifle. I'm surprised so few people complain about this...but the secondary mode is problem for me.
I realize the "weakness" is that you can see that the person is charging the shot....but really, what can you do against it? If you go to shoot the blob(*something I admit I haven't tried much, as I'm just now remembering you can do that)...they might just explode it in midair so it's a poison cloud. A Necris character will HAVE to put Wraith mode on to go through the poisonous area. If you get poisoned and you're low on health...that's just it. You're dead in a few seconds.
-I'm not even sure you can block the damn thing. I THINK I've blocked it before, and it took off a ridiculous amount of energy from me being at mega health.
-Reject? haha...YEAH. sure. I don't think it's even possible to reject the "blob", since the hitbox on that thing is ridiculous. You could hear the rejection sound as if it worked....but still die. Yep...that's the big issue too---The blob is a 1-hit kill. People don't even have to look where they are shooting it on smaller maps...they just fire it down hallways or whatever, and rack up the kills effortlessly.
-If it misses....they make it a poison cloud...OR just leave it. The blob isn't just going to go away like a normal weapon's ammo...it bounces around for a good while, still trying to get the intended victim(*the green stuff is alive!) Even if it hit ground already....it's still a 1-hit kill if you step on it, or it manages to hop on on you. Again...just TRY to reject that shit....and I and everyone else will laugh as you die.
heh...bio is so ridiculous...I might give that a try later today...still though...I've come to love my precious Shock Rifle so much...ah...now I'm torn between these two weapons.
about the bio rifle, im not sure exactly how it works in UC2, and im not even sure there is dodging and/or dodge jumping, i had asked you but you did not reply, but a good way to get around the bio is to dodge jump backwards, it puts a lot of distance between you and the opponent and it will throw off his/her aim. this helps considering its hard to aim effectively with that gun.
oh, practice your shock combos they are ownage...seriously, best gun in the game...is the sniper rifle a sniper rifle or is the lighting gun sniper rifle???
if you want i can link you to some sites with some tight frag videos for ut2k4, althogh its not the same game, it is very similar especially weapon wise. so you can see some sick examples of ownage with weapons...

Sniper rifle is more of a traditional sniper...one regular shot that's basically instantaneous...the secondary is the scoped-shot, where you can try for a headshot...and of course scoped does more damage. Sniper shot gets rejected----you're usually dead immediately.
I've heard dodge-jumping mentioned before, but I don't think it's in the game. I've never seen anyone use a special dodge animation or whatever. The only real hope that I see against Biorifle's "Moneyshot" appears to be either shoot the blob or run/fly away....or hope you can just kill the guy before he gets the shot off.
I'm definitely going to mess around with Bio in a few minutes against some bots...oh, and I got some interesting info from this site where people apparently looked 'inside' the game to see the actual numbers regarding damage, radius of certain abilities, duration, etc.
*I'm surprised how many (lesser-skilled)people ignore IMPORTANT things like the U-Damage, Full Adrenaline and Mega Health spawnpoints! You can't just forget about these items!!! These can all help you work up a nice little killing spree, or just save your ass from someone who is dominating.....especially when put together...you can have a NICE combo going on like U-damage, Wraith+Speed+Vampire!
*but yes yes....Shock has become my baby....there's something so fun about putting the rookies into the same frustrating situation I went through of "what the hell?! is there ANY defense against that stupid Shock combo?! heh heh...the cores cover such a nice wide area when they explode...it's great. It's best when catching people off guard...like when they're about to come into a hallway or turn a corner, and they don't realize you're right there....hahah...and it's always amusing to me to hear the characters make that "critical condition" scream after taking heavy damage: "ooOOOOOooh!"
UC2 kicks the ass of everything.
*it's great to have some of this stuff on tape...I was reviewing some of the action late last night before going to sleep....heh, I might edit together my own "highlight reel" one day.

whoah...I've been using Shock for quite awhile now...but even I didn't know the damage-radius was this large....look to the left side of the blast. There is a Sapphire player getting FUCKED up, despite appearing to be just a bit out of range!(*snagged from a montage vid I just downloaded*): http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/7874/shockcomboradiuswow7jb.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
oh yeah...Biorifle is fun...the bots always seem to block it perfectly though...I bet this is going to be more fun against real people....I can't give up my sweet Shock though....

Anyone else here play Star Wars: Battlefront II on Xbox Live? I did a brief search of this thread and found a couple mentions of it in old posts, but I still play this game and was wondering if anyone else still does. I've hardly played the single player but going online is a load of fun, especially with a ton of people. Well, if anyone plays, add me to your Friends List and we'll play sometime.

^I have a demo disc with Battlefront II on it...it's nice...I'll probably wait 'til it's cheap though...and of course by that time, the online community will most likely have died out. How is the Emperor, gameplay-wise in that game? This is the first Star Wars game that has captured my interest since the SNES days.(*and even those games...I never bought them...snes had too many other good games for me to give those SW games a fair chance...I just knew they looked fun) It's interesting to me that this is finally a SW game where you get to be everybody, apparently.
I have little to no interest in playing as the clone troopers though...
UC2--ah, I remembered how to do Bio-cloud again...it just sucks that bio seems to use more ammo than anything else...as the primary mode isn't really useful, imo. It's all about "the blob" and the cloud. Heh, I just got the announcer to say "BIOHAZARD!" against some bots....

here are the weapon stats for 2k4, the should be similar...the radius for the shock comb blast is pritty wide, if you take the very out line from where the blast animation is the largest you can hit like 3 character models away from that outline...
shock primary = 45
shock ball = 15-25
shock combo up close = 240 (it does various damage when you are not right next to blast)
flack primary = 100-110
flack secondary (full hit with ball not splash)= 120
splash flak ball = 80-90
primary mini = 2 health every hit
secondary min = 5 health every hit
primary rocket (full hit not splash) = 90-100
splash rocket = 60-80
link gun primary = 20 each plasma shot
link secondary = 3-5 each registered hit
sniper and/or lighting gun = 70
sniper and/or lighting gun head shot = 140
full charged secondary goo = 280

Haha, man, I remember those old SNES Star Wars games. I used to rent them when I was a kid. They were fun but they were so hard for me. It would take me forever to beat them. The levels got kinda repetitive, too.
But Battlefront II is really fun. The Emperor is really good when it comes to fighting normal infantry units, as should be expected. He doesn't seem to be as fast as some of the other Jedi, but he can choke people and shoot lightning. The thing with using the special characters (the game classifies them as Heroes) is that they are on a time limit. Their life bar is the timer, and it decreases as you take damage and increases as you defeat foes. You have to use the normal infantry units in the beginning of the match and as you earn points by capturing command posts or killing enemies, you can eventually respawn as a hero. Each side can only have one hero on the map at a time, though. (Except in certain maps, when the entire battle is Heroes Vs. Villains. Darth Vader vs. Chewbacca in a one-on-one fight is now a virtual reality.)
So some of the other heroes you can play as are Luke, Leia, Han, Grievous, Dooku, Yoda, Aayla Secura (hot blue Twi'lek Jedi), Jango Fett, Boba Fett, Darth Maul, and a couple others. Funny thing is that heroes are map-specific, so on the planet Naboo, for instance, if it's Rebels Vs. Imperials, it's also Leia vs. the Emperor. Pretty funny. But the heroes without Force powers are actually very good, because most of the time they will be fighting normal infantry units. But if you're Boba Fett fighting Luke Skywalker in a tight corridor with no room to jetpack away to safety, it's pretty much over for Boba.
Don't know what units the demo allowed you to play as, but most of them are pretty interesting to use, depending on your play style. Although I think the rocket launcher troopers are the Cables of this game; they are a little too powerful. But there are other classes, like Jet Troopers and Dark Troopers (jetpacks are really fun), destroyer droids (those rolling droids that deploy shields and fire repeating blasters as seen in the prequel movies), Magnaguards (Grievous' bodyguards), and more. There are also special scenarios where you can even have droids vs. Gungans (they even say "Meesa gonna die!" as you blast 'em), rebels vs. Wampas, and Imperials vs. Ewoks (the Ewoks never win that one). So there's a lot of variety to this game, I think.
Even if you wait a few months to buy it, I'm sure people will still play it, especially the really hardcore Star Wars freaks. The game has a decent amount of variety to keep things fresh (like Capture the Flag and space missions where you can fly X-Wings and stuff, and board the enemy capital ship). It's a rewarding experience when playing with a buncha people on each side, trying to figure out the best vectors of attack in order to win.
And many of the maps are big enough that you can even use Prep-Time to lay traps and ambushes for enemy troops. So there can be some strategy involved in the game as well, which increases its depth.

Found a new trailer of Disgaea 2. Possible spoiler at the end of the video though.
So far in Advance Wars DS its getting frustrating. A mission where you have to capture every single missile silo and if even one infantry gets to one you lose. And when the opponent tag-teams they get two turns to move.
Oh and Colin+Sasha team probably the best supers together. Sasha gets money for the more damage you do during the turn you start her power. And Colin all his units are cheap but are less powerful but his CO power is the more money you have the stronger you get.

Million and Zephyranthes-
How are UC2 and Battlefront without live? I am interested in both, but I don't have live right now (hopefully in the future, but I am too busy at work right now to justify it to my wife). I don't want to spend the money on the games if they'll suck single player but they're great on live.

I think UC2 is great even without Live. I'm only just now getting back into playing online...I played for a little while when I first got it, but then played only offline for months. The story mode is only "ok"...then each character has their own tournament ladder/progression....and here's one minor flaw in the offline experience; the other characters' stories on the tournament are only told in text. Only Anubis(main character) gets cinema scenes that follow his progression through the "Ascension Rites" Liandri tourney. Anyway, even after you beat all the tournament ladders for everyone...Instant Action could keep you entertained for a long time. The bots can be quite a challenge....I think the Godlike difficulty bots are a little ridiculous though, with their PERFECT aim. When I'm offline, I really only play either Adept(medium difficulty) or Masterful bots.
Another flaw with offline-only play is that you wouldn't get several bot characters that were made playable, as well as some maps. There was one content download released, as well as a patch.(*I forgot which things were changed from the patch.) Sadly, I doubt any future content downloads will happen....however, one of the devs at Epic actually mentioned UC2 will most likely be on the next list of newly backward compatible games for x360...so perhaps there is hope...
*bottom line: BUY IT! Unreal Championship 2 is one of the greatest games ever made, and it's only 20 bucks now...so you really can't go wrong, imo.
*once again I must comment on the excellent fast pace...I LOVE it so much...after UC2...other shooter games(*with the exception of Quake 3, my other major FPS love ) feel like you're playing in slow motion. *coughHalo2cough*

heh...I'll have to check that later(weekend), as it's 300+mb! Thanks for the link though.
more random notes:
-I'm still frustrated that the Flak just isn't that strong in this. Most people gravitate towards rockets because...they get the job done quickly. The other weapons require you to work the opponent over for awhile before they die. Most people get the rockets, charge up the 3-pack shot and shoot that repeatedly. I think just one hit from the 3 rockets can kill a medium character...if not, the medium will be so close to death that 2 or 3 pistol shots could finish him/her off. It seems hard to reject multiple rockets too...nobody shoots easily rejected single rockets. Anyway, in terms of power...even a single rocket beats Flak.
-there's something cool about the fact that the biorifle "ammo" is alive. I like that...it's like your "little green buddy". I think one of the kill messages (primary bio shot) is something like "***** was taken out by Perfect_Hatred's little green pals."
I still plan to get the earlier Unreals that were on Xbox...probably soon since I'm expecting a bigger paycheck next time. All those old Unreals should be dirt cheap now anyway.

moeller61-
In all honesty, I don't think Battlefront II is worth getting if you aren't going to play online. The single player mode isn't very deep. There's one story campaign mode, which follows the rise of the Empire (in which you control the clones and then the stormtroopers), and that's actually fun. In the story mode, there are actually objectives to accomplish in addition to simply capturing command posts. Unfortunately, there isn't a story mode for the droid army and the Rebels. Thus, the story mode is over way to quickly, which is a shame, because placing actual objectives for each of the maps makes the game more interesting.
Other than that, there's a solo mode called Galactic Conquest, which is basically the same as a normal game,
