*RANDOM THOUGHT*
I came to the conclusion after playing Third Strike on the Xbox last night that the Xbox controller sucks ass for 2D gaming. I was playing against this guy figuring i'll do good and my skills would translate on the X-box versions.
BIG MISTAKE!!! I could'nt even pull off moves that i normally would do on the PS2 version.
ANYWAYS, managed to snag some games from the BX over here in the desert for 5 bucks. I picked up Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks, Psychonauts, and Disgaea . Playing through Shaolin Monks right now and its a fuckin blast to play.
You got Disgaea for $5 bucks? I'm serious man, buy me a copy and I will pay you for it.

Which should I get next:
A OnePiece Game, Naruto Game, or Jump All Stars for the DS?
I'd wait til Jump Ultimate Stars comes out in 1 or 2 months.

There is no way Dig Dug was this hard back in the 80s. They've definitely made the Pookas and Fygars more aggressive. They seem to get faster much earlier in the game than I remember, too.
The "Dig" acheivement seems impossible. You have to leave at least 2 monsters on screen, and of course...they're much faster than the Dig Dug guy. Of course, since this is such an old ass game...there's no such thing as running, or hiding from the monsters, and they can float through the ground like the Matrix ghost twins. I've managed 80,000something points though, with 9 acheivements.
Hexic is so damn boring...yet I still play it. It's strange to me that a game can be amazingly dull, yet somewhat addictive at the same time.

God of War is the shiznITE!!!!!
I finally got a chance to play this game.........and just from the beginning at the the ships.......it's just beasting and beasting more. The mini games during the hydra boss fights are spectacular. I just went nuts with the attacks......in the air, air grab again and again..........great game.

So, I'm playing FFXII.
Is there anyone here that played the jap version so I can know what the hell is going on? I'm actually pretty strong at this point, but I'd like to know how to get some ish to happen.
For instance-- how do I affect the weather in the desert?

I picked up NHL07 for the PSP today, it's been a long time since I've got a hockey game.
Anyway the game is great, but three things irk me about it:
1) No downloadable roster updates, you'd think they would have this by now for online ready consoles / handhelds.
2) No new (fugly) Sabres sweaters.
3) No Hartford Whalers vintage sweaters for the Canes, yet they even went as far to include all the New Jersey franchises (Kansas City Scouts, Colorado Rockies).
Still it was a good pickup, and good fun on the go.
The no-name bands EA have on the game's OST are starting to annoy me though. =/
EDIT: Scratch #1, it turns out you can download rosters, either fan updates or apparently from EA whenever they decide to release the roster update.

About to buy a few games... FFXII CE, and WoW: BC. I don't really play WoW much (group of over 20 friends got it at launch and still play but I couldn't run it until this spring), but have a few mid 30s so I'm going to possibly start up again.
Playing... Final Fantasy 4, 6, and when I finish those, 10 (never finished 10 so trying again). Just waiting for 12. :)

Had some computer probs but now I'm back.
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. Man, this game is freaking boss! I love the intriguing cases, the great dialogue and the sweet music! I'm already on the 5th Episode. Yeah, you're a defense attorney but you also do a lot of detective work. This is a game that really makes me thing. One of the best games I've played in a long time. Can't wait for the sequel.
Mega Man Zero 4. The Zero games have always had sweet weapon systems and Zero 4 is no exception. The only thing I don't like is that you have to do a bosse's level with the weather effects on or you don't get his EX skill. Kinda lame if you ask me. I like how the cyber elf sytems works this time. Instead of having to always come back to base and get more elves, you have 3 already in stock and you can just turn on and off their various abilities. Only have one more boss to go before I move on to the final stages but I've only got one sub-tank. Time to hit up Mega Man HomePage.
Capcom Classics Mini-Mix. Might Final Fight, Strider (NES ver) and Bionic Commando. All perfect ports. Too bad you can't save in any of the games.

Just finished Xenosaga Episode III the other day. Shion went from tolerable in I and II to "where can I find a flight of stairs to push her down" just like that...
Yeah, I really wasn't down with the way they portrayed her in III. In I and II she was just an ass, but in III she's downright idiotic. Oh well, at least she got "put in her place"...anyone who's played the game knows what I mean. Still, I liked her character overall, despite the hardcore sabotage Bamco pulled out in the last game.
As for new games, I'm playing through Tales of the Abyss for a second time, that game is amazing at all points except for two; the world map is laggy as hell, and a certain incident made me want to kick half the party's collective asses. Besides that, it's golden, Guy has officially become my favorite as far as Tales characters go. He's just too cool.

I got Mario vs. DK 2: March of the Minis. It's pretty fun, like a bizzarre cross between Lemmings and the Mario platforming games. The boss fights are pretty hard, too. And the level editor is sweet. You can even make levels with Mini-Peachs and Mini-Toads.
I just finished Megaman ZX before that. It was pretty damn fun! Highly recommend for any MM fan. I like how you don't just get new weapons from the bosses, you get whole transformations with unique movesets and powers. And trying to beat all of the bosses without hitting their weak points at all, in order to win the boss plushies, was very fun and challenging.
Anyone played either of those new Justice League games? Any good?

I finshed Mega Man Zero 4 Monday night. Not on the level that MMZ3 was but still a good game. ZX sounds like a tight game.

Hey Reggie... More ZX goodness:
In the same area as the boss fight with Omega Zero, there are two locked doors. One opens if you insert MMZ3 into the GBA slot, the other for MMZ4. Behind each door is all of the boss fights from those respective games.
still replaying ZX on hard mode. it's just too good!

Yeah, not only is Guy an excellent character plot wise (his fear of women is well explained and he one of only two people I didn't want to slap after a specific event in the game), he's cheap as a muthafucka in battle. Severing Wind -> Dragon Tempest = infinite. :wasted:

Started playing GTA: San Andreas again. Started using the cheats. Screw playing fair. Wasn't gonna spend all that time getting CJ's lung capacity up. Anyway, I'm done with all the Woozy missions. Only place I can go now are the... Z missions. And I freaking hate this one Z mission where I have to fly remote control air planes with sucky controls.
Phoenix Wright: AT. Love this game. I'm still on the final case. Love how the game makes use of the DS controls, especially in this last case. To answer one question:
JLH was pretty bad. It's enjoyable. But, still not as thorough as Xmen Legends 2. Sure it's done by SnowBlind Studios(Champions of Norrath), but they really dropped the ball on it. Zatanna is broken and the rest of the cast is almost useless. The Flash is the second best character in the game. I'd recommend it as a rental at best. It wasn't worth the $50 in the long run. Graphically its much better looking than Xmen Legends. But thats about it. The boost token system isn't all that in depth. And you only get a few select abilities rather than getting a shitload with XML2 and just levelling up whatever you think you'll need for the entire game.
And as for unlockable characters, you've got Green Arrow, Green Lantern(Rayner/Jordan), Hawkgirl, Aquaman, an extra skin for Batman, the Flash and two for Superman. And the game is waaaaaaaay too short. I beat it with my friend in 6 hours.

Viewtiful Joe 2 is slightly inferior to part 1, but still a good game. My only major complaint was the absence of unlockable characters, thus making the game feel like a step back. Imagine SF2 Champion Edition coming out...and then a year later "regular" SF2 World Warrior comes out. A smaller roster is always like a step back, imo...it's stupid.
My zany cast of characters have returned in the glorious world of Phantasy Star Universe. Read all about it in the PSU thread of course. I'll probably get a memory unit this weekend or next, to continue making characters.(you can only make 4 on the 360 hdd.)

^ yes it is, it's pretty awesome too, it's great to watch yourself play just because of the incredible art direction.
Don't bother RCing his sweep, it cancels to a bunch of other stuff anyway and that wastes too much tension. Also, there really aren't many juggle combos like how they work in say tekken or 3s, in GG it would almost always end up being an air combo instead of juggle.

Honestly you'd get a better answer if you asked in the other games forum section or if you just asked at dustloop. My Sol knowledge isn't expansive really. I do know that in slash Sol users do alot of standard BnB instread of trying to lead into a big combo since his VV got a huge damage upgrade. Sidewinder loops are kinda specific in use since unlike most proration in hits, sidewinder ALWAYS prorates, from what I've heard.

Phoenix Wright 2 has got me on lockdown for this week. I was up to the middle of case 3 but the game froze on me and my gamesave was lost (bootleggin ftl). But this game is just as good as the first one, and I'm really anticipating how well the final case will use the DS controls.
So I just beat the 4th case in PW2 and I was expecting a fifth case (these Phoenix Wright games are remakes of the original GBA ones, so none of the cases utilize the DS controls that much). But the game ended right there... and nothing. Which dissapoints me a lot because the first one had ONE case that was exclusive for the DS, while number 2 leaves me with just the remake of the GBA version.
It was still a great game, but I just hyped myself up for nothing.

Took some time off from God of War.........stuck in a certain part, and it pissed me off.
Currently playing..........
Castlevania DoS: Man, I didn't know that most of the soul abilities can level up........and that there are various soul combos that can be done in the game. Also, I got like $8000 left before I can get the Soul eater ring.......and with Sniper + Skull archer combo...........final guard gets owned.
Dawn of War WA: It's like the only game I play on the PC..........always fun to see Dreadnaught toss units and heroes around.
Def Jam - Fight for NY: I may just start over with this game because I'm interested in the SP storyline...........and there are some moves I didn't know can be done.

I thought for sure you had to do the Z missions to progress the story in GTA: SA, but it turns out you don't. Woohoo! I hate the "Supply Lines" mission with a passion. I spotted the Triades marker on my map, headed for it and got on with the story. In order to get through the game faster I'm using a few cheats. Screw playing fair, I got other games to get to.
Played some Sigma Star Saga. I like the SHMUP elements but the RPG parts just aren't all that engaging. I suppose I should give it more time, though.

I don't understand why that game did so well, it was pretty meh as far as I'm concerned. It definitely wasn't as exciting as playing DMC1 or Onimusha 1 for the first time.
Still playing Okami, a WAY more intresting action game than God of War. Though it could amp up the difficulty a bit in the early game.

I can tell you why GoW garnered more interest even though, in terms of combat engine and gameplay, it just didn't quite meet the standards set by DMC. It was hella violent and very pretty. And that is what the average game buyer looks for. And for the record, it was still fun. just not DMC/DMC3 fun.
Oh, I got Pac-Man World Rally a little while back. Screw the reviews. Yes, in a lot of ways it is a total bite on Mario Kart. But a copy of a good thing is still a good thing. And it does still have a few clever ideas of its own. I actually think that the way drifting charges up a stockable shield item is pretty nice, and in a small way adds to game depth since that puts a counter to Blue Shell, I mean Blue Pac-Bomb, in the game. Also, the classic Namco gaming references are fun. A Galaga Ship for a weapon, Pooka from Dig-Dug as a playable character, Inky driving a Pole Position race car, etc etc. I like playing as Pooka too, his car looks neat.

Oh yeah. I don't care what anyone says, using cheats in GTA games is so much freaking fun. I'm using infinite ammo, infinite health and locked wanted level cheats. I can kill whoever I want and the cops won't even touch me. It always irked me that even when you did vigilante missions, you'd still get wanted stars from the cops. No longer a problem.
Also getting in some quick sessions with OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast. I love the original OutRun but I honestly believe this one is the best.

I always cheated in the GTA3s....but not in the older 2d ones. In old GTA1 and 2, once you got the tank, that was good enough right there...you became pretty much unstoppable. I've never cheated in Saint's Row either, even though there is a potentially interesting one called "God's Wrath"(random lightning supposedly strikes people in the surrounding area)
*Contra on Live Arcade is harder than I remember....it's the arcade version, not the NES version. This is one case where it's an unfortunate thing. I remember NES Contra actually being much more fun than this....NES version controls were better and more accurate, too. In this one, you'll die simply beause your guy isn't doing what the hell you just commanded him to do. There's also the problem of it just being an old game anyway. We've since been spoiled by shooters with much better and more complex controls, with more strategic options, i.e. Gunstar Heroes/Superheroes. NES Contra...I could beat that without even using the 30 lives code. Live Arcade's *Arcade* Contra...I haven't beaten the damn game yet. Not even close.
And here it is yet again....probably the most badass picture of my main character from Phantasy Star Universe, The Dookieman: http://img140.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=49026_Capture_35_122_486lo.jpg Observe the awesome flaming swords, and dark aura. Million did you finish Saint's Row already? I thought that would be a 60 hour game. Also, you played GTA1 and GTA2? Finally, someone else that played those games. They may have had top-down views, but they were still fun. Even running people over in those games made me chuckle.
This could be the last post of this thread since Ronin Chaos is relaunching various threads with high posts, this being one he said would be closed/relaunched. Just wanted to thank everyone who posted in here for more than 2 years. You all made this thread rock hard.:lovin:
I started Wild Arms 2 Sunday night. I know the game got it hard by reviewers(GameSpot gave it a 5.3) but I'm digging it so far. Ashley (I HAD to change his name. I call him Bluu because of his blue hair) is tight. And he uses the baddest weapon in all the WA universe: the ARMS!! Brad is also tight because he too can use ARMS. Lilka. Ehhh. My word, does this kid SUCK. What is like like 6? I mean, yeah she can use magic but thus far, I'm very underwhelmed. I want my Cecila.:annoy:
Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. I wasn't gonna start this game until I beat the first KH but I kept getting motion sickness. I haven't had motion sickness from 3D games since the early days of PSX games and GoldenEye for the N64. Could take some time before I get used to it again but I just didn't feel like forcing myself to adjust. Anyway. KH: CoM is pretty good. The combat system, which at first, I thought was a bit repetitive is becoming more involved. All about cards in this game. Everything is cards. Storywise, I'm really intrigued. Can't wait to see what all unfolds.
This week CAPCOM CLASSICS COLLECTION VOL. 2 gets released!!!

Yoshi's Island DS. It's pretty good. I like the character swap system and look forward to seeing what Baby Bowser plays like. Level design is mostly great so far, except for Extra 1 which was simply tedious and needlessly time-consuming. Baby DK is broken as shit. I also wonder why he has the dash move and explosives when those both seem more like Wario gimmicks to me. Instead, Baby Wario has a magnet for some reason. Still quite a fun game.

Game sounds fun. I heard EGM gave it average scores but I hardly go on reviews for game purchases anymore. Plus EGM has been on suck mode for years now. I really want this game and FFIII. But FIII is $40. $40 for a DS game? Gay.

Capcom Classics Collection vol. 2 (PS2 ver.)
Sega Genesis Collection is good. Some games I've discovered for the very first time. Kid Chameleon is too good. Love the different hats you can wear. Golden Axe III. IMO it's better than the original Golden Axe. The original Golden Axe is OK but I just don't see why people praise it so much and diss the sequels. Vectorman. It rocked in 1995 and 11 years later, it still rocks hard. Who doesn't like the first two Sonics? Super Thunder Blade is IMO a good SHMUP. Ristar. Still one of the most unique platformers out there. Genesis version of Virtua Fighter 2. My word does this game suck. Altered Beast = crap. Well the Genny version anyway.
Capcom Classics Collection vol. 2. Was finally able to nab a copy on Monday. This game is enough to get me sexually aroused. There's so much freaking awesome old-school goodness on this disc. Lots of games are here that I've never played and I've fallen in love with. Three Wonders is freaking brilliant. Actually 3 different games in one and all three games rock!! Magic Sword was a game I played on the SNES years ago but I forgot how riddled with slowdown it was. Magic Sword in CCCv2 is arcade perfect. Eco Fighters. Oh man, Eco Fighters!! Its soooooo awesome!! Captain Commando, Knights of the Round, 1941, Tiger Road, Varth. There are so many SHMUPs and beat 'em ups on this disc that it could very well surpass CCCv1!! SSFIIT isn't the only reason to own this collection.

I'm currently playing Silent Hill 1 (PSone). Now, you have to understand that I didn't even own a PSone until the very end of it's production run, and didn't ever play any of the "classics" until recently. Yeah, I was a blind Sega soldier when I was a teen...
Anyway, this game is rediculously good. I'm surprised at how well many PSone games have held up over time. This game really has a creepy aura about it, and I'm loving every moment of this game. The weird looking baby walkers w/ knives? Too good.
Anyway, the only gripe I have is that it's a bit too easy on default (normal difficulty) settings. Like, I haven't even gotten hit once, and ammo is laying around aplenty. I was expecting it to be a bit tougher (REmake for GC).

-Small Arms on Live Arcade, folks. Greatness.
-PSU quickie update: Online, Dookieman is currently 15 or 16. Offline, Dookie is level 97. Dr. Yakub was created just yesterday in my online roster. Leveling up is so damn slow though...Dookieman will probably be the only online character I seriously play.
I will get my Nintendo Revolution very soon, if I get much more overtime at work(I've had some unexpected expenses lately that tore thru most of my OT money from the last 2 weeks or so). I need to get *Revolution* mainly for Zelda and the new DBZ, which is clearly the greatest DBZ game of all time.(120 playable characters, apparently....EVERYONE, basically. It looks like something finally surpassed Supersonic Warriors) Retro control is a must though....I can't see myself playing any fighting game with that "special" controller....the "wiimote" is something that works for shooters or things like those sports titles that come with the system....or Excite Truck. It's awkward on everything else, most likely.

Uh-oh, Million has brough his famous PS updates back to the thread. :wgrin:
Sega Genesis Collection is a solid compilation. It's got platformers, action/platformers, RPGs some sweet extras in the form of interviews and trailers. But Capcom Classics Collection vol. 2 is the better of the two. Such a wonderful collection of SHMUPs, beat 'em ups, platformers, action/platforming and fighters. OK so Street Fighter sucks royally but it's nice to be able to experience it for history's sake. Ryu looks like he's wearing some red tap dancing shoes in this game. And Balrog (or Mike as he's called in this game) is just a jerk. 3 hits from Mike = GGPO. Love how everyone can magically "teleport" in this game. No to mention the fact that the Hadoken is so broken it's not even funny. If you can manage to pull off 3 Hadokens I (key word being if) you'll win any fight. So um, yeah, I, uh, played the original Street Fighter in CCCv2 longer than I should probably be willing to admit. It isn't as atrocious as I thought it'd be but it still is by no means a good game.
King of Dragons > The entire Golden Axe series. For real. Game beasts on Golden Axe so freaking hard. Golden Axe series is good but King of Dragons is just superb. It isn't just because of the fact that you can levle up your characters. The game is just alot more fun to play.
Eco Fighters, Captain Commando, Knights of the Round, King of Dragons, 1941, Varth, 3 Wonders, Black Tiger, Block Block... all games I've never played before until I bought CCCv2. All awesome games. CCCv2 could be game of the year for me.

I was also playing DQVIII a while back. Long live powerleveling from the liquid metal slimes (there's this place by Godbird's Eerie in which liquid metal slimes appear almost consecutively. In other words, MUCH more often than in "Slime Hill"). I gained like 3 levels in less than an hour fighting metal slimes and the such. All I need now is the ultimate gear. The only thing I messed up in the game was giving Yangus clubs. They suck, and in order to get the best club, you have to sacrifice the best axe. Oh well, at least I have axes mastered (best weapons for Yangus IMO).
I was also playing some FFIII (DS version). This game can get evil sometimes (like those damn final dungeons), but it's not that bad. The later FFs are better, though, but they aren't as tough.
i just finished castlevania: curse of darkness...a decent castlevania game...they really did not improve on lament of innocense interms of level design, it is still all box, hallway, box, hallway...throughout the whole game...kind of funny...
the innocent devils or familiar concept is probably the most interesting...also to anyone that has played this game...i dont get the special weapons...they suck balls if you ask me and do no damage...are they supposed to level up your familiar so they look crazy cool?

^Clubs don't have any good traits at all so I'm glad that I didn't level it up early in the game. I did, however, get the Megaton Hammer which ultimately as you put it - the worse decision you could make in DQ8
The Metal King Slimes refuse to run away from me, surprising as of late - and my hero continues to kill them with the Lighting Thrust skill. I even manage to kill two in the same battle - that's a whopping 60,000 EXP points for each character. If I want Kazing with Jessica I need 100 in staffs

Playing Need For Speed: Carbon, Call of Duty 3, and Marvel Ultimate Alliance.
NFS: Carbon is ok. I think Most Wanted was actually better. There's not much customization you can do, and not many cars to choose from. I think NFSU2 is still the best need for speed game.
Call of Duty 3 is decent. I'm actually liking part 2 better so far. I've only played it for about an hour. The game is hard as shit, and is already starting to get boring.
Beat Marvel Ultimate Alliance with Daredevil, Spiderman, Wolverine, and Iceman. The final battle against Dr. Doom was too easy. The outtakes at the end are hilarious.

Been playing Red Steel and FFXII.
I really like Red Steel, a lot. I know people have been hating on it but after I got used to the controls, its a really fun Arcade-style FPS. The storyline blows chunks but the shooting and sword fights are really fun. My only problem with the controls is there is no option to change the controls for left-handed people. I was training to learn new sword moves and for the life of me I couldn't get that small scorpion move to work (the one where you slash both controls outwards). I thought my controls were broken or running out of batteries but when I thought about it long enough I realized that I needed to move both controls INWARD to get it to work. Kind of retarded, but Ill get used to it.
FFXII- still an amazing game but until today I hadnt touched it for a good week and a half. Still at the Sandsea trying to beat Garuda. Lvled up my party and trying to get that item that weakens Garuda and lowers its attack speed.

Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. Stuck in Monstro. Have to defeat a group of Heartless in rapid success to raise a meter full, which upsets Monstro so he'll cough up Sora, Donald, Goofy and Jihmmy. Time to head to GameFaqs.
Sega Genesis Collection. Super Thunder Blade is fun but impossible. Even with the lives jacked up to 7 I cannot get past the first level. Shadow Dancer: Secret of Shinobi. I finally actually got past the first two zones!! Though the whole one-hit death thing is annoying in a game like this. I'm so glad you can save in these games. My friend called bull crap when I told him about the save feature in this collection. He had to beat SD: SoS the hard way back in the day.
Capcom Classics Collection vol. 2. Played Capcom Quiz and unlocked a ton of invunerablity cheats for different games on this collection. So I'm playing those Burger King games and out of all three PocketBike Racer seems to be the best. It's like Mario Kart, just a bit harder and weirder. The way you get power ups is by going in between cones. The color you went through also determines how much of your meter you fill. The problem is that if you want to use a certain power up but accidentally fill your meter to the next one you won't be able to use the previous one. Off the bat though the sheild power up (which is the first one you get) fucking wins. It blocks attacks and makes your opponent spin out.
Sneak King was fun for the first few minutes but then I got tired of how repetitive it was. I'd only get it for novelty reasons.
I haven't played much of Big Bumpin' but it's seems to be a good enough game for 4 bucks.
P.S. Both PocketBike Racer and Big Bumpin' can be played online. Haven't checked it on my 360 so I'll check that out.

Sega Genesis Collection - I beat golden axe the other day, the last boss was retarded and extremely annoying. I like the first level of vectorman but I dont get the second level and I die every time. Going slowly in Phantasy Star IV, the battle system makes it kind of boring. I can't seem to unlock Altered Beast arcade even though I know I've played every game and unlockable game.

You are correct.
You can jump to avoid Warheads hands on that level. You can also hold the D-Pad left or right and shoot those annoying fuckers that help him.

It's that time of year yet again...where there's too much good stuff out at the same time. I'll never get caught up. I want Gears of War, but also Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Small Arms(I can't add MS points right now for some retard reason), the new Sonic x360 game even though most say it's crap....and I just got 2 of the 3 Burger King games....AND I haven't even played the Lost Planet multiplayer demo yet...
...and then there's the new Superman game, which is surprisingly fun. I also need to get *Revolution* for upcoming Smash Bros. action, Super Mario Galaxy and Zelda...and this, which is clearly the greatest DBZ game of all time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqH7M4iwHjk&mode=related&search= <-- :wow: That's how things should've ended, btw....Freeza should've destroyed everyone and the world.
PSU --offline, Dookieman is level 99 now. Zarbon is level 23....(this was more than 10 levels today, in a very short amount of time in Zarbon's case. I got him some A-rank armour when he was just level 11 or 12 earlier today, and he's been practically INVINCIBLE ever since. Online...Dookie is just level 24 or 25....and elsewhere on Guardian Colony...HE-MAN made his debut online today. He's already level 8.(online leveling is so damn slow in this game...if He-man was in offline mode, I could've had pushed him to level 20 at least already, just in today's session. Zarbon at 23 has only taken a cumulative of less than 4 hours.)

Last week I got to play some games on the Wii console. Wii Sports is freaking fun. Well, the two games I played were highly enjoyable, anyway. I played Bowling and Boxing. I suck at bowling in real life but that didn't stop me from playing like a pro in Bowling for Wii Sports. The way you use the Wiimote to throw the ball is freaking brilliant. I came in fourth place but I had so much fun.
Boxing on Wii Sports makes you work up a sweat but it's worth exerting some energy for. The way you use the controls to throw punches and guard is tight. I KO'd four guys and loved every minute of it. I could buy a Wii and be happy with Wii Sports for weeks. When my tax return comes in '07 I will get a Wii. :lovin:
As for games I'm playing this week, well I finally got out of Monstro in Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. When I got out, I got the Dumbo card. Right now I'm in Wonder Land. The card Heartless are really annoying. But then, I hate the Heartless all together. Always poping up out of nowhere. If I have to fight the Queen of Wonder Land... ugh.
Attention all old-school gamers. You NEED to own Sega Genesis Collection and Capcom Classics Collection vol. 2 SGC only got a PS2 and PSP release but CCCv2 is on Xbox and PS2. Both compilations are freaking dope and were worked on by David Sirlin.

nice. The best place to level up isnt the final dungeon but rather the small sewer dungeon that I forget exactly where it is. In it is a whole bunch of the giant blue guys who are weak and get frozen against cocytus. They give you a ton of exp and they also drop stat raisers. I stayed in there until I was 99 with all characters (which you will need to be in order to beat the SMT: Nocturne protagonist...and you will need cielo too). DDS2 is a chore to get through in terms of dungeons...I'm still levelling up in the final dungeon in order to beat the secret bosses.

Actually, that's where I have been leveling. Those enemies give up some good money and they drop Fusion cells and vital noises. Other enemies in the area drop Theory cells too. So, after a good amount of time battling, you'll come back with atleast 800,000 extra money. You know this already though. lol
After I'm done with these two games, I'll come back to Devil Summoner. How do you like that so far? I think it's a fun game. I wish they added some customization to Raidou like, extra moves or something, but that's not where the focus of the game is. It's also very linear as far as when using demons to over come certain obstacles. I can look past that though, it's still fun, has alot of style, and the story is entertaining.
I just checked Atlus's website and Persona 3 now has an official release date of June 2006. I think we're getting a redone version similar to what they did with SMT:Nocturne. :lovin:

Dirge of Cerberus - I know reactions to this game have been pretty lukewarm, but I wanted to try it out anyway. Initial thoughts:
The targeting system can take some getting used to. Instead of having Vincent start shooting in the direction that he's facing following the L analog of your movement, there's a seperate mode/interface for the shooting part. When you bring out your gun, the controls shift to an FPS-ish scheme, where your L analog is your wsad, while the right analog is your mouse. Sounds good on paper, but hard to put into practice. However this scheme does allow you to go at it FPS style, strafing to dodge bullets and what not.
But sometimes it's easier to just run up to enemies and use your melee attack by mashing Circle rather than having to press R1 to bring up your crosshair, sight them with the right analog, then R1 again to fire, or L1 for magic. It doesn't have that free-running/shooting feel that DMC has. Sure the ability to do it is there, but the learning curve to be able to pull it off may be a bit higher.
The auto-aim feature is a mixed bag as well, especially at long distances when your enemies are hidden in the fog. Sometimes the only way to tell if someone is shooting at you is if you're getting hit. Then you pull up the crosshair, move it around till you get a lock, then fire away. It totally negates the point of having to zoom in.
And the jump mechanics! I hate floaty/weird jump mechanics, it somehow just doesn't feel right. I always considered Mario in SM64 to have the perfect 'jump', so everything else is compared to that. KH 1 and 2 had the same kind of floaty, twitchy jump, but in the end I got used to it.
I still want to see how this game turns out though. Anybody else play it?

I like it a lot. Collecting new demons and using their powers outside of battles is fun. I'm at the beginning of chapter 4 and I've got the big ass volt car following me around everywhere. The style is great although I wish at least the cut scenes had voice work. More attacks would have been nice, I agree. I also like how the icon in the world map reminds me of the world map icon from the first psx Persona.
I didnt like the mantra grid in DDS2 as much either and the game is about half as short as DDS1 so you will never even get half of the stuff until your second playthrough when its all about levelling (and if you first playthrough isnt on "hard" then you will start over with nothing). The ring system is cool though.

Capcom Classics Collection vol. 2 I finally got past the 2nd level on Strider!! I've never done that before, not even with the Genesis version. It took some time but I also got past stage 3. I thought Strider was good on the Genesis but I never really got into it. Now I'm really appreciating the game. One of the best action titles for the arcade/Genesis. But man, do I suck at it. I don't know how many times than diabolical laughter tormented me when I got the game over screen. Anyone got any advice for a brother in this game?
More CCCv2: Varth is freaking hard. When you use up all your lives, you get taken back to the last check point in the stage or sometimes the begining of a stage. Farthest I've ever gotten was level 14. The difficulty is set to Normal but if I want to unlock the remaining bonus content, I may have to drop the difficulty a bit.
Sega Genesis Collection. W00t! I'm going places in Shadow Dancer! I got past Round 3. That Statue of Liberty stage was kinda annoying. Died quite a bit there. Had to use some of my shinobi magic when the enemies started surrounding me. I heart being able to save in this compilation. I've gotten farther in Vectorman than I was ever able to get when I was 14. Not quite sure where I'm at but I think I'll actually be able to beat the game.
I'm really enjoying Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memeories but I want to hurry up and finish it so I can get started on Final Fantasy III. Plus I need to resume my game of Wild Arms 2. Things got REALLY interesting in that game and I'm only 6+ hours in.

holy fuck, Dodonpachi DaiOuJou is TOO HARD FOR ME. That game is just intense, at least Mushihimesama is a little bit easier to handle. I think it's cause the bullet colors in MHS are only purple while DDP:DOJ has red and blue. The blue is really hard to see in a non-"tate" screen on some stages. I'd flip my TV on it's side if I could, but it's way too big for that, I don't want to risk it.

Does Vectorman 2 get better after the first level? I don't know what itm is about the game but so far, I find it to be a borefest. Like all that made the first Vectorman so good has somehow been lost. Then again, its only the first level.
Starhammer, you can't go wrong with SHMUPs. One of my fav genres without question. Capcom Classics Collection vol. 2 is an amazing compilation and I'm especially fond of all the shooters on them disc, many of which I never played until I got my hands on it. Varth continues to own me. Both in terms of me loving the game and being difficult. Just had to take the difficulty down a notch.

Well, during my absence I finished YI DS with 100%. Holy fucking ballsack hairs the Secret Stages are a serious pain in the ass to get the whole 100% on. Secret 1 forces to carry star eggs over from another stage to have a full timer, since only Baby Mario can use them and you'll need DK and then Peach from the first character swap post onwards. I died over 100 times attempting to perfect the skiing section of Secret 3. And don't even get me started on the evilness of Secret 5's stage design.
Still a very awesome game, and quite frankly the challenge was a bit refreshing compared to a lot of other games lately.

Very impressed by the game so far. I like the heavy emphasis on the whip and sub-weapons. That combined with the remixed classic tracks give it a more of an OG feel than most of the SotN and past CVs have had.
This is gonna consume an ass-load of my time though. Good lord, there is tons to collect and do. And hear rumors of extra playable characters too? Crazy!

Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories update. Cloud put up quite a fight. He kept use Slights so I had to fight fire with fire. Hades was a serious pain. With my Deck 1, he would constantly break my cards. So I made a ned deck of cards with Deck 3. Most of this deck was stocked up cards of 8s and 9s so it was easy for me to keep breaking his cards. Been playing FF3DS. Listen to this: I beat the Crystal Tower, beat Xande and beat the 4 fiends that protect the Cloud of Darkness. I go fight the CoD, and I LOSE! Pretty much 2 hours of gaming gone to waste. I guess you really have to be at level 60 in order to beat this boss. Oh, and for some reason, I love the final boss music.
Also playing Dawn of Souls. My main objective is to beat the 4 Souls of Chaos dungeons in FF1; I don't really care about FF2 because everything in that game is nerfed compared to other FFs. I did beat the Ultima Weapon a few months ago, though (long ass fight, but not all that hard. What kills it is that you HAVE to level up Flare/Holy like hell because physicals don't work), so no biggie.
Basically, I'm in a FF trance; I beat VI a while back (very easy game, but Advance supposedly fixed the glitches that broke it), been playing XII, and trying to play FFV (SNES version, not Advance). Now hopelly I'll beat that damn CoD soon...

While I don't think the suplex is total garbage, it's definitely much less useful than the roundhouse. The roundhouse is much better at giving you space and the lag on the suplex is horrendous. Suplex is just kinda fun to use once in a while, while the roundhouse is actually a good move to use.

I'm gonna tell you this right now before you eventually face them.
The 4th version of Riku is arguably the hardest boss in the game. Better have 'em 0 cards to counter that annoying Dark Aura of his.
Also, Captain Hook is surprisingly hard. Must be the fact that he likes to rushdown with those bombs of his....
Hey, Lantis. Haven't seen you post in this thread in a while. Thanks for the heads-up. Hades was actually much more difficult than Cloud. Of course when I stacked high numer cards, ice cards and Dumbo, the fight between me and Hades was ridiculously one-sided. I was constantly doing card breaks, hitting him with ice and the Dumbo assists was pure beastage.
Right now I'm at the Hallow Bastion. Maleficent is going to be the boss and since I saw Sleeping Beauty a million times when I was a kid, I'm positive she's gonna turn into a dragon. I wanted to fight her first because I figured she'd be tougher than Ursala or anyone else. Captain Hook is in this game? Well I should have guessed. I mean, Neverland was a selection of the new areas to go to.
You gotta fight Riku 4 times in this game? Ugh. Guess I better stock up on those 0 cards so I can counter him.
Moogle Rooms I am so loving in this game. I've gotten some pretty good cards from the Moogle Room shops. And I'm really, really, really getting into this game. Enough to make me put aside Wild Arms 2 and give it all my RPG attention.

Love Dawn of Souls. Enjoyed both games but FFI more because FFI is freaking classic. If you're planing to tackle the 4 Souls of Chaos dungeons, I highly recommend a guide. All 4 dungeons are completely random. No telling what room you'll end up in when you leave one room. Oh yeah, and if you're planing to fight Omega to get the Atma Weapon, prepare for a LONG fight. Also make sure you're characters have high HP when they fight him. I'm talking 999 HP. Dude has super high defense and can slay one of your party members with just one attack.
Legend of zelda: TP - Best Zelda game since Ocarina. It's just as addictive
Guitar Hero 2 - Really hard to master and it gives my left hand cramps but I still think it's great
Gears of War - Best multiplayer game in a looooong time. This trumps Counter Strike as my favorite MP game. If you have friends you can play co-op and deathmatch with, this is the best game you can own for the 360.
Super Mario 64 - Never got to play this back in my 64 days so I'm catching up now :D
Rainbow Six: Vegas - It's alright so far. Just got it yesterday so I'm not too far into it. The game lacks a sprint button to run from cover to cover but maybe I've just been spoiled by Gears of War. Haven't tried multiplayer yet. I will tonight.

Well, I had both Chain of Memories and KH 2, so I had to play Chain of Memories first to understand KH 2 a lot more. Those Organization XIII fuckers are c-rious business. They kind of seem "too dark" for the whole Disney motto in the game.
Riku is kinda like your bitch the first 3 times he gets in your way. But the 4th time he gets all serious and starts doing that annoying teleport rushing blade shit you know from his final form in KH 1 (the Dark Aura I mentioned before). By the end of the battle we both had like 3 cards each even after reloads, so we were basically just slugging at each other ala Rocky and shit like that.
And here's a hint: finishing the game is just half the fun! :wgrin:
On Dawn of Souls: I sorta don't feel FF II at all. The level up system is weird...I just can't determine the factors that makes you increase certain categories (it seems kinda random to me). Increasing your MP is a proven example of this. I could attack using spells all day long or just wail at enemies with physical attacks, but it still won't go up.
And I agree on levelling up spells...kinda pointless. Especially when it comes to status-inflicting spells like Stop or Slow...even at top levels, they will still miss!
I had a lot more fun with FF I, solely due to the fact that you can fight against bosses from FF III-VI. OLD SCHOOL POWAH!

Beat God Hand a couple of days ago. The ending theme is every bit as great as everyone said it was.
I went Christmas shopping today and I saw The Movies out in Kensington for 97p, so I picked it up. It turns out it's freaking amazing... I'm only just getting into it but it seems so addictive. I think it's one of the best micromanagement SimCity-style games I've played for years, usually I hate this type of game.

Another update on my DQ8 progress:
I finally got Kazing with Jessica (staffs/100+) This makes life in this game so much easier.
I still can't find the last 6 mini coins though.

Yoshis Island 2 is 2d gold.
I agree 100% with you on that one. Just finished the game two days ago and I was quite pleased with the entire game. At first I was thinking that this would just be a cheap DS port of Yoshi's Island from the SNES but it wasn't and that's such a good thing. Everything that was good about YI1 (Yoshi's Island 1) is here and there's more that makes the game even better. Having the ability to swap babies for various different powers makes the game deeper and more enjoyable. 40 levels of pure greatness. I definitely recommend this game for anyone who's looking for a good 2D platformer.

I definitely recommend this game for anyone who's looking for a good 2D platformer.40 levels? It's 50 bro. Five worlds x (8 normal levels + 1 secret + 1 extra) = 50 levels. And while I did very much love YIDS, I have to raise the complaint of them leaving out watermelons and the car and train morphs. Plus the new rocket and kangaroo suck.
Still, all-in-all YIDS is easily in the Top 5 DS games.
I've continued playing Portrait of Ruin. I'm something like 400% in right now. I've been taking the time to collect all the drops and work on raising Jonathan's sub-weapon skills the whole way, so I've only just reached the entryway to the Egypt painting. I like the way you raise his skills. It reminds me of playing WoW. And it gives me a reason to spam those sub-weapons, rather than play a highly MP-conservative game like I usually do.

Simple, even halfway decent character creation totally changes the experience of a game in such a positive way for me....Phantasy Star Universe has now become "The Continuing Adventures of He-Man" for me. This legendary 80s icon is back and kicking ass in new worlds....
He-man is currently level 17, only 3 more levels until he acquires the nanoblast transformation. Heh, a random dude asked me yesterday where "Changing Faces" was. Ah, poor soul with such faded memory....the name was Man-E-Faces....and Man-E-Faces was lame anyway. He was just a dude with 3 faces that spun around inside a weird retarded helmet thing. The only cool thing about him was that he had a ray-gun.
...I would make "The REGIS, Mark 5" again for online mode, but starting a new character is such a chore....it's extremely slow to level up in this game's online mode, and just...not quite practical to have many characters like in the good ol' days of PSO.

I STILL need to get around to playing Dragon Warrior VII. Game is still in shrink wrap.
Million is PSU a better game than PSO?
Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories update. Well, I beat Maleficent and without much trouble, I might add. I just made a deck of high number cards, used ice spells and Dumbo & Cloud assists. She left her self open a huge number of times.
Lantis, you're right about Riku. I already fought him once and he was a pushover. One thing that irked me about him was his speed. It was very difficult to hit him with Dumbo or Cloud. Still, he was ridiculously easy. What's the point in wearing an outfit that tight if you're going to look like a scrub?
I'm heading to the 100 Acre Woods next. Don't know who the bad guy is there but I'm hoping I can get Tigger as an alley.
I'm wondering about the Organization XIII in this game. I never scratched the surface of the original KH so I don't know if they were in that game or not. They do seem really dark and up to some serious crap.

Overall, yeah...it's definitely better than PSO imo. However, there are some annoying things that hold PSU back from the legendary game it could've been...
-no "common box" for offline mode.(a box that all your online characters can access...the absence of this offline means a new character in offline mode starts COMPLETELY fresh every time, no hand-me-down items. This is somewhat offset by how easy it is to level up offline though. You can get a new character to level 20 in just a few hours. Level 20 online takes a few days at least.)
-Graphics--while they are "ok"...and even kinda nice at times...it's still obvious that the game is held back visually from what it could be, due to being primarily Ps2 game.
-at least when you're fighting monsters in a hallway, sometimes the camera becomes the worst camera ever in the history of games. Fortunately, these are not frequent situations.
-most of the clothing options either look rather gay, or they just look straight up retarded. Also, character creation is a noticeable step up from PSO, but still quite limiting. Online mode just got some new clothes in last Friday's update though, and they look ok.
-No offline multiplayer mode. You will always play alone unless you get online....the interesting thing here is....even online, I prefer to play alone anyway....mostly because I want all the exp and money/items for myself.
-The money situation is disgusting. You'll find yourself wishing someone out there found a way to dupe. Fuck "honor" and and in-game economy. I'm tired of my online characters being broke as hell for such long periods of t
