I got MK:Shaolin Monks its okay fun with co-op. You could also unlock Mk 2 in the game as well so for 20 bones its a good deal.
I have not played Curse of darkness but have not hear anything special about it either.
Recently I started playing Prince of Persia SoT, after a long time in my shelf. I enjoyed it but about the 33% mark the Prince was walking and a got the You died message telling me to retry. WTF. I kept retrying and retrying and the damn message poped up. Even when I loaded the game up again the same shit happened. I later read up on the game and it full of bugs. I was so dissapointed that I erased my file and have not started anew since then. Has that happened to anyone else with this game?

Yeah. You can unlock the cheap, two-bit, tri-glutton-slut version of MKII that MAT2 has on it. Bullshit how that game got ruined beyond recognition. You don't coin something as "arcade perfect" when it is far from. Same with this version. For 20 bucks though, I guess it's worth it. I'm just a perfectionist.

Just beat Hotel Dusk. Very solid game. During the middle chapters figuring out everybody's secrets I was like "this seems pointless", but then it all comes together very nicely at the end. Some of the puzzles were a tad unrefined, but overall it was still a very enjoyable experience.

Sonic Chaos GG Review:
Zone 1 - Ah, this versions Green Hill zone. Act one is simple with lots of rocket shoes! Wheeee! Enemies here are fucking awful...they suck. Nabing 100 rings is too EASY for emerald hunting (assuming you're Sonic). Act 2 is easy just with more springs and roboflies...simple as pie.
The boss is easy just spin dash away!

Idea Time!
1.Go to your local video game store.
2. Buy Devil May Cry 3:Dante's Awakening- Special Edition
3. Take Black Sharpie and write "Castlevania- Sonata of PWN" on the cover.
4. Put game into playstation, and enjoy.
Because, DMC3 takes EVERYTHING Castlevania 3D tried to do, and then pistol whips it and does it WAYYYYYYYYY better.

Sonic Chaos GG
Zone 2 - Gigapolis Zone. This is my favorite zone in the game, it was made for speed. Act 1 has 5 (I said 5!) 10 ring boxes at the top - the lower path is dangerous with all the spikes. The tunnels can be sped through into the loops in Act 2, and you will need speed to cross the bridges. The boss can be a threat, but a quick study. Aim for the head while dodging its body parts and you'll be on you're way to stage 3 instantly.

SoT's great, but yes it's buggy. I always alternated between 2 saves just in case. I hit that problem and had to play through from the previous save point. There's another one later on (around the 60 or 70% mark) that has the potential to totally screw you over as well, in a different way.
If I were you, I'd skip over both SoT and WW and skip straight to Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones. I have had no problems regarding bugs in this game, and as far as I'm concerned it's by and far the best of the series too.

Zone 3 - Stupid zone. I hate it. Lots of block crushing in Act 1, and a huge ass gap at the end. The high road is safer than the low road, but you can fall to your death easy here. Act 2 is simple because it has too many ring boxes - meaning stage skip via special stage. The boss is annoying and very challenging.

Final Fantasy VI Advance owns my gaming life right now. One day after work I got home and played the game for like, 6 hours straight.
I have everyone but Shadow and Locke in my party in the WoR. Shadow is resting in his home town and I'm leveling up almost all of my characters. I used to think Umaro was dope years ago, but now, not so much. Yeah, he's a strong physical fighter but he's super slow and I think I'd be better off not including him in my party. I'm just gonna level up Relm and Stago instead of Umaro.
I fogot that you can equip various different abilities to Gogo like Steal, Tools, Blitz, etc. Just adds to his brokeness and I'm lovin' it.

Been playing the SHIT out of the Donkey Kong Country trilogy. Emulation is a fine thing, but I plan on buying DKC2 on GBA for platforming bliss on the go. Played through the 2nd one first, then DKC3, and now DKC1. My personal thoughts on the three games:
Donkey Kong Country: A beautiful game with responsive controls and one of the best soundtracks in gaming history and yet...very shallow. The gameplay consist of mainly Donkey and Diddy running, jumping, lauching through barrels, and the occasional mine cart level. The platforming sections are fun(if kinda annoying at times), but the barrel/mine cart levels can be a pain in the ass. The gameplay seems to be derived to the lowest denomintor(can't spell); hitting all the right buttons, but never causing anyone to say "Wow!" Rareware thought the graphics would just take care of that. Well 10+ years later the magic seems to be wearing off. Fun game, but its just shy of classic.
Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest: Wow. That sums of all my feelings towards DKC2. Rareware must have known how stale the gameplay was in the original, and made fit to make the best damn platformer they could. The changes in gameplay don't revolutize the industry, but not of an evolution of the series. Graphically...just look at it. 2d doesn't get much better than this. Quite possibly the best soundtrack in VG history, and the tight reponsive controls I've come to love. The gameplay has been improved with MUCH better level design. The varied enviroments keeps the game from being boring, and each world usually is based on a cool theme. There are SO many fucking things to collect in this game. I don't really feel the need to find them all, but you will always have something to do. Top 15 games of All-Time for me...I love this game so much.
Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie's Double Trouble: ...And here is the black sheep of the DKC trilogy. Released in 1996 on the tail end of the Super Nintendo's life, this game was pretty much a cash-in of the DKC name. Now don't my voice tell you that this is a bad game; FAR from it. It's actually pretty darn good compared to many other platformers of the world. The problem is, the game adds NOTHING to the DKC formula.
The DKC Platformer formula: Amazing CGI graphics? Check. Controls like a dream? Check. Great soundtrack? Half check(it's kinda a mixed bag). Forced scrolling, annoying deaths, and a GAJILLION things to collect for no fucking reason? Check check check!
So what could possibly go wrong? Hmm...maybe the fact that the monkeys move like molasses now. Maybe the fact that the game is pretty damn easy for 90% of the game. Maybe the fact that the items you collect are pretty fucking pointless(besides the Lost World, if you REALLY want to go there). The level design is decent, but its seen better days. It really felt that Rareware was scracthing for the bottom of the barrel for these. Either the levels are riddicously easy, riddicoulsy cheap(Lighting Look-out anyone?), or just riddicously stupid. The lame boss fights and the Brother Bear thing didn't help the game either. And whos bright idea was it to take out most of the animals and replace them with this stupid elephant? Fuck that shit.
But lets not think about that. The fact of the matter is, this a Donkey Kong Country game. Everything you loved about the first two DKCs are here, just not as good. It's fun as fuck though, and you be crazy to not enjoy it. A solid all-around platformer, possibly on par with the original.
Seriously, you guys need to play these games...they are fucking beast.

I never got into the rest of the Donkey Kong series...because I think playstation was out by the time DKC2 was released....and once I move on to the next generation, it's hard to go back unless it's something that is unquestionably legendary, like Super Mario 3. Anyway, DKC's underwater level had some of the best music from the entire 16 bit era. It was so relaxing...so soothing...like if that singer Sade composed a video game bgm track.
*I have to admit...the absurd amount of bananas in DKC actually made me want bananas for a snack. On a sidenote...that's a strange thing with bananas....I love the taste, but they're not filling at all. If I ate a basket full of them....I would still be just as hungry as if I never ate.

Yea, I mean. Its just so well made. The Control is borderline flawless (pun intended). The development team did a grand job of making this control right. Fighting multiple enemies at once is amazing fluid. Movement in genereal is fluid. This gameplay destroys any, and all other 3-dimensional games. I say, every Beat-Em-Up from now on, should emulate this fighting style. It would just be in their best interest to do so.
And dont get me started on the extras. Wouldnt Be Mortal Kombat without that. Playing as the extra characters in the MAIN game, with unique moves? Fucking perfection. Hell, Mortal Kombat II (hands down the best Mortal Kombat in 2-D) is an unlockable extra. Wtf? Broken. Artwork, movies? This is what other games TRY to be.
The level design, and all around look is amazing. It also does help that most of the levels are extensions of backgrounds from the fighting games. I mean, this is stuff I used to dream up when I was younger. Ed Boon (and his staff) were on the ball with this game.
So yea, my fav game as of now. Sure, theres the fun classics, that I've played over and over again, but not one of those delivered as this game does.

Smoke is very difficult to find in this game so this should help you out a bit
Also I'd recommend doing the quests once everything else in the game has been
completed to make life easier.
1: Go to the Living Forest
2: Go to the area with the large waterfall at the back of it
(The one with the ledges you climb up)
3: Destroy one of the clay soldiers' shields
4: Throw the clay soldier into the engraved wall behind it.
5: The wall should collapse and reveal a new area. Smoke is inside there.
Edit: ROFL. GameFAQs FTW

FFVI Advance still owns my soul. Today I beat the Red and Earth Dragons. They fell like dominos. Didn't even use any magic attacks against the Red Dragon. It was straight physical. Thing died real quick. I'd forgotten that Locke loots most of the treasure in the Phoenix Cave. But I did manage to score a Ribbon (w00t!!) and super, mega powerful sword for Cyan from the War of The Magi. Cyan's attack power is now 411. :looney:
I had the old man in Narshe turn the Ragnarok Magicite into a sword. Normally, I pick the Magicite but this time I decided to use the sword. Sword is DOPE!!! Celes attack power is now over 500 with that baby and she's using a Gauntlet. Too good.

Funny you should mention that because I have full tension and one god reel. After I throw all the pots at him, I'll usually get another one or two god reel cards. I fucking had him down to a sliver the other day and I biffed it. One more fucking jab would've done him in and I blew it like a virgin on prom night. I hate having to taunt him a hundred times to build tension because he just gets pissed and his moves take more. I think my problem is that I need to re-set my techniques. When I played through the game back in '98, I found this great spot to level up and I finished the game with my party in the 70s in less than 41 hours. Probably didn't need to be that high in levels but I guess I got carried away.
Still trucking on FFVI Advance. Valor is the best attack up spell in any game. Quick is also too good. Wish I'd known about these spells when I played through the game years ago. Celestriad (Economizer) is so dope. Only takes 1 MP for any spell used. I'd love to get my hands on more. They can be stolen by some birds in the Phoenix Cave but they are rare steals. The one I got came fron a Brachisaur and those things are tough to kill!
Anyhoo, I'm on my way to the Fantatics' Tower.

I just got Final Fantasy 3 for the DS today and I'm impressed. For an early Final Fantasy the game is starting off pretty well. Having the the ability to change jobs is something I'll enjoy once I get far enough in the game (right now I'm only 1 hour into the game). Also, having the DS's touchscreen abilities is also making this game even more fun. Fighting in the battles isn't such a tedious task anymore. Can't wait to play some more of this.

The Megaman X's are awesome games. Parts 1-4 are solid. 5 and 6 are good but I think they end up complicating it more than making it better. 7 does not exist in my heart and 8 was pretty good.

Good luck trying that. After level 70, even the most powerful enemies will only give you 5 EXP. Not very promising when you need 63782 points to get to the next level.

Yup, I know. I'm at Lv. 72, and killing the Guardians (highest exp. giving enemies n the game), net me almost no experience right now (And to think that just hours ago the gave me a level for each 3 killed T_T). At least I can crossup them w/ Shield Rod + Alucard Shield combo as long as I can, but what worries me is powering up the Murasame, considering that it needs his 2*attack power + 12 to raise by one point it's attack power, so right now, I need to suck blood around 240-260 times by now to rise 1 point of attack, and still Crissaegrim owns its ass. I'd say THAT is not promising, as I want to level it at least at a point where Murasame > Crissaegrim. Might as well start leveling 1 point a day.

If you want MY advice, do the following:
1) Buy the Duplicator from the Master Librarian and equip it.
2) Equip the Power of Sire.
3) Go to the Reverse Caverns in the Inverted Castle, and go to the long chamber where Scylla used to be in the normal castle. It's the big room where all the squids are.
4) Instead of falling through in the middle of the squids, there's a small platform at the top, near the entrance to the room. Make sure you stand on it, and use the Power of Sire.
5) Wait 2 seconds, jump up, and you'll land back in the room with the squids. Wash, rinse, repeat.
Sure, it's probably the most tedious shit you can get, but you'll be netting 300 EXP per minute. And it's fairly easy, too. I have a save with Alucard at level 92 thanks to this.

How do you think I got my familiars to Lv. 99 ;)? Besides, it's practical, the motions are so automatic that I can do it while doing something else. But I leveled just once in the process of levelling all 5 familiars, so I think that this will take some time indeed.
And my summer vacations end in less than 2 weeks :(. Bummer.

Played some NES Super Mario Bros. 3 this morning. Thought I'd beat the game by warping so I collected all three Warp Whistles. I was in World 8 and I had just finished beating all three Hand Trap stages. The power button on my NES starts flashing on and off. :annoy:
In order to make sure my SHMUP skills weren't getting too rusty, I played some MUSHA on Genesis. I played a not too shabby game but I died on the first stage, which really irked me because stage 1 of MUSHA is cake to me now. I just know that if I keep at it, I'll eventually beat this game.
I'm leveling up my crew on FFVI Advance because I like to be high level. Locke is at level 65 right now. Terra, Mog, Sabin, Relm, Celes and Edgar are at level 60. KH 2 is an AMAZING game. TP is good too, but It didn't seem to hook me as much. The story in both is excellent, but I think KH2 isn't as Cliche as Zelda's story. Seriously, KH2 has so many plot twists and memorable fights, I never wanted it to end. Zelda.. well, im still truckin through that one. Waiting for it to become the amazing game everyone says it is.

I got the PS2 version back in '05. That's some high quality action/platforming right there. Whenever the PS2 version of Metal Slug Anthology releases, I'll be there to snag a copy.
Brought another used first party controller or my GameCube since the last one kept going arwy. Nothing like a game of Super Smash Bros. Melee. Yeah, the track list is way better imo. I agree with the engine comment too. The HO/PO's are way easier in the second one. I fucking tap all my notes in the first game. When you ask if I've beaten all of guitar hero 2, what are you talking about? I only count the main songs and yes, I've beaten it on expert. I don't like most of the bonus songs anyways. Jordan's another story though. I can only get through 50% of it. It's a bastard. It takes a rare breed to beat that song. Actually though, as far counting the bonus songs, I do count Jordan because of the amount of ass kickery it represents.

Well, GH2 is a great game. I consider the bonus songs to be much much better. (Thunderhorse, Lady Lightning, Arterial Black.) I just think that the mixing on the covers was poorly done. (Poor vocals, loud bass.) Still an almost perfect game though. Also, once you get past 61% on Jordan, the song is EASY. Guaranteed 4 stars or more.

I wanna see an all Pokemon SMB style game. I don't care how gay that sounds, I want it. Put in some kind of soft RPG/travelling around doing stuff mode and the mini-games, typical Nintendo Mario franchise fare. I'll play it.
So I have this copy of RPG Maker 2, that I've borrowed from a friend for about a year which I only looked at once, and finally got in the mood to really go through that shit and make a new game. I made one with the original RPG Maker that was fairly awesome for comedic purposes. I wanted to make a real-style one though, and was totally into the idea.
... so I pop it in my PS2 and the shit fails to load cuz of reading errors. It's one of those blue-backed discs, similar to my MVC2 which doesn't work anymore either. What's with these games, and why do they fail to work in my PS2? Is there anything you can do about it?
Capn Spanky
02-28-2007, 08:02 PM
the blue backed ps2 games are the old cd-rw kind whereas now theyre on silver backed dvd's. The Ps2's ability to read cd-r is lost after time. A trick I learned about requires two pieces of scotch tape. Here goes.
Step 1. Take disc into hand.
Step 2. Take 2 pieces of scoth tape, approx. 1 inch long.
Step 3. Take one piece of scotch tape, place on label side of disc, about one-half inch away from the hole of the disc.
Step 4. Take tape piece number two, and apply it to the opposite side, so the two tape pieces are symmetrical.
Step 5. This should fix your disc. Place into PS2 and test. Enjoy
This seems to work because the tape adds mass, thus allowing the disc to sspin faster inside the magnetic tray. This lets the laser read at an appropriate speed in order to play the disc. Don't ask.

Well I beat Final Fantasy VI Advance last night. Man, the ending to that game is still amazing. I think it has been about 10 years since I last saw it. I was gonna do the bonus dungeons immidiately after I beat the game but decided I'd have enough FFVI so I'll do them another time.
Drill Dozer is the game in my DS now. Game started off slow and I thought it was merely an OK game. Once I got to level 1-2, things picked up and I'm really digging this one. Kinda hard to believe this game came from Game Freak, makers of Pokemon. Nice to see a platform game that has settings in areas you hardly see in a platform game. The first stage was a business building. The second stage was a musiuem. Game has some awesome sprites to boot.
Well I'm off to play some Super Smash Bros. Melee and beat some Pokemon like they owe me money.

(Poor vocals, loud bass.) Still an almost perfect game though. Also, once you get past 61% on Jordan, the song is EASY. Guaranteed 4 stars or more.
Still need help with Castlevania Julius mode. Aguni isnt in the pinnacle... i think he's dead. How do i remove the black flames?!?
See, I prefer the bonus songs in the first one by far. As far as Jordan, sure, once I get past 61% it'll be easy. It's getting to the point that's the problem. I really don't know how anyone can get through the part where it's practically nothing but notes on the screen. I've only played it a couple of times on expert because I'm too scurred to do it. I'm sure I'll get through eventually though.

Interesting enough, done in old-school 2D graphics (along the lines of RPGs on the SNES, but the overworld map's in 3D). The environments are nothing special in terms of polish or interactivity, but the character sprites are clean, and the soundtrack's solid.
Gameplay's traditional turn-based battle, with the twist being the Reyvateil serving as the party member in the back (Reyvateils being girls capable of using powerful support magic either for healing or just for taking everything out). As they build up their spells, a gauge determining the power of the spell shows up, with bonuses for the party's overall attack power added over time. Some enemies try to target the Reyvateils specifically, which prompts the player to take the damage in her place (they can easily be killed in a single hit if you don't), giving a chance to counterattack with a button-press combo afterward.
I'm still early on in the game, and although it's a bit on the easy side, it's been fun so far (it'll be a bit longer before I can decide if I think of it as a 3/5 or a 4/5).

So....Final Fantasy 12's action is real action?! I didn't even know about it until seeing the review on an Xplay repeat yesterday. That would actually be a FF game I could get into then. It's a real shame that game has possibly the most fruity-looking main character I've ever seen in a game released here. That guy makes Richard Simmons look like Rambo in comparison. The "femme" powerlevel is off the charts there. Isn't it at least a little awkward for you people to play with a character that's like that? It's obviously not just him too....that may be "the ladies man" or cool and "macho" in Japan, but here....a guy like that looks and appears like gay x10000. I have nothing against *those people*....just saying.

Alien Hominid has redeemed Live Arcade for me, though there are some terribly annoying things about the game and it's gameplay mechanics. It still manages to be a good time overall.

hmmm looks like i need to replay Dawn of Sorrow if i don't remember the black flames in that game...
oh and use julius for abaddon, whip brandishing is your best friend there
I actually used Alucard against him. I've worked out a decent dodge strategy against him. Alucard's warp slash gives him invincibility. Julius whip + Holy Water was really good though, I just couldn't do it. I finished the game yesterday on Julius mode though. I was level 45. Soma's second form was tough until I learned his attack pattern. Using Julius, I finished the game with 2 hp left. It was awesome.
See, I prefer the bonus songs in the first one by far. As far as Jordan, sure, once I get past 61% it'll be easy. I liked some of the bonus songs on the original, but not enough to make me prefer GH1's bonus songs over GH2's. Breaking Wheel, CHeat on the Church and Get Ready To Rock are the only songs I played on that game. Whereas, on number 2 I play Thunderhorse, Jordan, Trogdor, The Light that Blinds, Push Push (Lady Lightning), Gemini, and FTK. Just preference though.
As far as Jordan is concerned though, I played training mode on ONLY the soloes. I learned the basic note patterns on slowest. Then, I played through the song.
Don't use ANY Star power until the notes get insane. Try to move your fingers in the patterns (the song DOES follow a pattern for the solos, except the pattern changes so quickly its hard to pick up on.) While following the patterns, Increase how fast you pick. That's the part that saved me. Just by picking faster, I hit more notes and it increased my score and kept me in yellow a bit longer. (if you do do that though, I recommend you turn off sound effects... it will get annoying.) Otherwise, I activate star power around the third part of the solo. (The second wave of insane notes.) If star power is full, which it should be by this time, it will run out on the wave before the last. It's the wave that starts yellow, blue, yellow, blue, yellow, blue, and the goes crazy.
That's all I can recommend to get you through, but once you do the rest of the song is easy.

It's still turn-based, but allowing you to move around (so if you enter a command, you still have to wait until the action gauge fills before they do anything). The closest comparison would be the combat system of Parasite Eve 1, but unlike PE1 (where you can step out of the way and have an attack miss you), despite having the ability to move around during battles, you can't dodge anything on your own, regardless of the distance between you and an enemy unless putting them completely out of reach by running away from them (otherwise, attacks missing or being blocked in FFXII are simply a matter of luck).

I've bought a GT Driving force Pro wheel so I started back on some old driving games I own. Good times, they all feel like new shit. I even started playing WRC again, game from 2001. I'm gonna look in the cimputer at work as see if any sequels came out in America, I know they did in Europe...
I also found Rumble Roses used at work a few weeks ago. Bought it as soon as I saw it, didn't play it until last night. The graphics are VERY good for a PS2 game, especially a 2004 one.
I'll be using GTA Vice City stories and God of War 2 from work, I'll be buying Test Drive Unlimited on the 20'th. After beating GTA and Gow2, I will start getting Smackdown 2007 again. I checked it out for 3 straight months. Anyone else playing SVR 2007?

I had fun with SvR back in the day. It looks like crap now, but back then it was alright. For SvR07, it doesn't have the excuse of being the first in the series. The shit in SvR07 is just unexcuseable for a series that's been around this long and not advanced at all. They've just gotten lazier and the games have gone to complete shit, rather than improving. So yeah SvR 1-2> SvR07.

Mega Man 3's wang is indeed bigger than Mega Man 2's. That said, MM2 is still full of ownage.
I've been kicking it old-school the last few days. Picked up some old games:
Virtua Fighter 2, Saturn
Sega Ages, Saturn
Hellfire, Genesis
Guerrilla War, NES
Gargoyle's Quest II, NES
Joe & Mac, SNES
Virtua Cop, Saturn
I'm really surprised at how fast and fluid Virtua Fighter 2 plays. The AI even seems to learn from the way I fight.
Arcade perfect OutRun in my bed room is too dope. That alone made Sega Ages worth the $8.95 I spent on it. Of course Space Harrier is also good. Never did play After Burner II but it looks and sounds ill.
I love SHMUPs and Hellfire delivers. Love the different types of weapons you get access to from the get-go.
Been playing more Drill Dozer as well. Man, do I HATE underwater levels in this game. You move so freaking slow and dodging spikes is a pain. Metal City must have been an apology for all the crap I had to deal with in the underwater ruins stage because I've been loving Metal City. You hardly ever seen this type of level design in a game anymore. Most of the time you get an ice world, desert world, lava world, grass world, etc. Not that I don't like these places but Drill Dozer's numerous city levels are a breath of fresh air.

Recently been playing some Actraiser 2. Much like its predecessor, the music in this game is incredible, and the fighting system is very much improved from the first one. My SNES reviews of the day:
The Jungle Book - You know, Virgin Games were on FIYAH with the Disney license. Pretty much every game they handled, it had gorgeous animation (other games including The Lion King). Of course, their games always ended up being generic side-scrollers, but watching it flow was a piece of art. As for The Jungle Book itself...meh, I doubted you could get anything productive out of the movie anyway, but they managed to pull it out, although being killed by a dragonfly or a rabid squirrel is kinda WTF-ish.
What kinda annoys me is that in EVERY stage you have to hear monkey cries and elephant noises in the background. I hate the jungle. :annoy:
Cultural note for this game: Tommy Tallarico (the smartass from G4) did the music for this game. Hey, I guess he's not a complete deadbeat after all!
The Flintstones - Treasure of Sierra Madrock - Ehhhh...what can I say? It certainly TRIES to emulate Super Mario World in some way (even has the same map exploration feature), but falls short. Simply put, the levels are way too short, and the time for each stage is even shorter (99 seconds), which allows little time for extense exploration. The minigames are blah, and the selection of enemies is rather plain.
Amusing fact: Betty and Wilma tend to run lurk around in the map. If Fred stumbles upon Wilma, she drags him back some stages (same happens with Barney and Betty). Pussy-whipping FTL.
Annoying fact: Fred and Barney squeal like little bitches when they get hit.
So, in short, if you have the chance...don't play it.

Ugh.... That's fucking it.
I give up trying to beat Bison II on Hard (or any) Mode in Street Fighter EX 2 Plus. All the times that I even manage to fucking get him I pretty much get raped by his superb Guard Breaks, chipping damage, and infinite meter.
...And that's count the barely double-digit times that I've faced in between the computers stupid turtling crap and utter stupidity with some characters, such as Shadow Geist's insanely invincible shoulder ram (which goes through everything for half of the time that it's out), Kairi's stupid fucking "I mimic Storm's runaway by teleporting around the damn field ad infinitum and there's not a damn thing that you can do about it because I'm the only computer character that gets really really erect by dragon-punching every second poke and jump attempt", and Blanka's pretty much invincible status (stupid fucking instant-recovery, instant-Jungle Beast against projectile users, and electricity's stupidity make impossible...and that's without taking the other supers or his fucking Meteor into account).
(I've only ever managed to beat Blanka with Zangief, which tells you something considering how stupid tick-throws are in the EX series, and that was only once. I think I may have beaten one time in Hard Mode with someone else, but that means I've only beaten the bastard twice ever in Hard Mode then. Yay.)
I could have finally been half-way through fucking Kingdom Hearts II with all the time that I wasted on that damn game.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not an EX-basher. It's interesting, even when it seems like everything will ineventually end up being "activate Excel", "Don't jump ever...unless you can activate Excel", or "Guard Break or Throw because overheads aren't worth a damn (and many things that look like overheads actually aren't)...and then Excel" will be all that it ends up as at high level play.
...Which I will never get to play because there is no one around me and there aren't any arcades reasonably nearby.
Fuck.
I'm going to start on Kingdom Hearts II since I stopped after the three hour introduction last time (save-wise)--I remember playing until Hades and fooling around with the improved Cereberus.

Also playing Gargoyle's Quest II on NES. Game is fun and a bit similar to Demon's Crest on the SNES. At first I thought the River of Fire was hard with its tricky platforming segments. It is nothing, NOTHING, I say! There's this cave that's full of of spike pits, shooting plants, and shooting platforms. Still haven't been able to pass it after numerous tries.

It contradicts a lot of stuff from 2 and CV. Still fun to play though.
Concerning MegaMan... Honestly, I like all the classic series games except 8. MM8 was utter ass in all ways. But the rest, from 1 to 2 & 3, to hated upon 6 and even up to MM&Bass and the overlooked Gameboy games. Just 5 was my very favorite of all. Also note that I refuse to acknowledge the existance of the 2 PC games. They weren't made by Capcom, aren't canon, and suck balls in every way possible. Expecially the second one (which is labeled 3 for some reason :wtf:).

I'm playing FFXII right now. I'm enjoying it... but someone said in another thread that the ending isn't that good.
Ah. Now you're just trying to get on my good side.
The FFT avatar and now an appreciation of the greatness that is Cossack's stages' musics.
Damn brown-nosing newbies. [/self-importance]
Hey, it's like saying the sky is blue. I'm just stating fact.
Here's another fact:
Even though mega man 6 sucked, it has the best boss selection music. Not an opinion. Can't be disputed.

dunno if i posted it already, but im playing crackdown and ninety nine nights, crackdown is fun with online co op, even offline it has its charm. NNN its Really fucking simple and mashing X and Y all day gets the job done, your team mates are useless, but the cg is pretty and the story sucks. easy achievements though, which is why i checked it out. ill return it tomorrow and probably check out TMNT for 360 if they have it, or maybe rainbow six vegas, to go with my obvious GoW 2 purchase.

Envy us, bitches. TMNT, the original arcade, is up on our glorious Live Arcade today. Yeah, that's right. I just hate that I have to go to work today. I'd rather play this and Crackdown all day.
Crackdown--got the Firefly finally(a missile launcher).....oooooh that's the God weapon there. I feel completely unstoppable now. My agility and strength are maxed out, and the explosions are gorgeous. I blew up a car and some gang members while in midair from jumping off a building last night, looking down on my destruction before I even touched the ground....and damnnnn I happened to NOT be recording. I love this game.
Convert to 360-land already. You know it's the Promised Land...don't deny it...don't deny yourself.

Yeah, there is a second cave with a spike puzzle, just wander around the cliffs a bit. Not sure exactly which way to go since you can do either necklace first, but yeah it's in the cliffs.

I've been reading alot of good stuff about some games lately, but I've never gotten a chance to try them. Can someone tell me their opinions on these games (I'm considering buying them)? Shadow of the Colossus, God of War (actually, I've tried this one and like it), and Devil May Cry 3 (Greatest Hits or normal?).

Buy all three there all good. I got DMC3 greatest hits which had more features than the original. Yet for hardcore gamers the original ver. is much more harder.
SotC is just epic. God its good. But be warnedyou explore a lot in an unoccupied land and some people get bored with that.
And God of War- enough has been said it is a must buy.

What is "Normal" difficulty in the original American release is "Hard" in GH version, and "Hard" from the original is "Very Hard" now. But that is really fixing things, because the Japanese version of Hard was shifted down to Normal for the American release. The GH version just shifts everything back.
GH version is probably the way to go. Vergil as a playable character, Bloody Palace Mode, a video viewer... lots of nice new stuff. The only sucky new features are the boss fights with Jester, which aren't very fun and don't make much sense story-wise. But you can skip them if you want to, so no big deal.

Shadow of the Colossus is overrated IMO. It's a unique game for sure, but all you do is ride a clunky horse around a giant fucking map while battling each colossus, thats it. There are no other enemies in the game to fight inbetween. Battling each colossus is fun, but after the first 4 or 5 I was kinda bored with the exception of maybe 2 of the later ones. I suggest renting it first.
DMC3...GH version, no question.
God of War....buy that shit...and get part 2 while you're at it.

Actually, that is what I liked about Shadow of the Colossus. All I cared about was getting to and fighting the next Colossus. Having regular enemies in the game would have only been a distraction and a dissapointment IMO. I liked it, thoroughly enjoyed it.
I agree on God of War though, both games are the shit.

I beat that game last week and I have to say that it's the most fun I've had in a Sonic game that's 3D. The controls do take a little while to get used to but once you're adjusted then things will go smoothly for a while. The only other time the controls are an issue is a little past the half-way point when he have to start to break during the stages but even that becomes easier with practice and if you equip the right skills. This game really shines on the introductory missions for each world. The game really gives you a great feel for how fast Sonic is moving through the stages.
Just a couple of hours ago I finished Trauma Center: Second Opinion for the Wii and it was amazing. Having played the DS version of Trauma Center made me really love the use of the Wii's nunchuck to switch your operating tools. Having that made the surgeries so much more enjoyable. Also, the extra missions with Dr Kimishima are great even though there aren't many of them and her healing touch is pretty creative. I was really expecting that her healing touch would be just like Derek's but I'm glad that they made it different.
So now that leaves me with Final Fantasy III to play through. The lack of MP is taking some getting used to but that's not a big deal.

Played some WarioWare: Mega Microgame$ today. Made some new high scores. Game is sooooo much fun. The ultimate game for killing time. 9-Volt is one of the greatest characters in gaming history IMO.
Still getting in Survival mode on SFA3 Upper, via SFA Anthology. Made 2nd place with Sagat. I thought I could beat my high score in first as Chun-Li but no go. Opponents that give me the most trouble are Birdie and Zangief.
Started playing GTA: Liberty City Stories on PS2. Man is it good to be back in LC. Everything seems to familiar. City looks just like it did in GTAIII except more detail. So far I have over $2000, the bat, and have already offed a ton of people. Did a few missions already. As enjoyable as GTA: SA was, it really is nice to return to a GTA that doesn't have a million things to do. I also like that my character doesn't have to eat to keep from losing energy.

VP is fun but it sucks that the later game degenerates into Auto Item/Guts and no real tactics are needed.
Oh and there is only one fight in the game that I believe if you make one mistake it is unbeatable and that is the 2 x Hell Eyes and 2 x Ram Guardians. IF you don't kill all 4 of them at once it is pretty much impossible to win. lol that was the only fi
