I go retro again. This time, Act Raiser. I never played it before. Heard of it though.
Bosses in this game are pussies. Mash sword button to win. Easy repetitive patterns too. I can beat a few without being touched. Very last boss reminds me of the last battle in Kirby's Adventure. I really don't know why.
Building cities is nice. Demons get in the way too much. Wind magic FTW. At least it builds your HP to where you're guaranteed to win in a boss fight. I also love how I play the role of a god to the people. Worship me, peasants!
I had a city build on that island, then realized I had to cause an earthquake to continue, and it destroyed the entire city. D'OH!
My real gripe is that the little angel in this game is naked all the time. No homo.
Act Raiser 2 will be next.
Kyoujin
11-15-2007, 06:16 PM
ActRaiser 2 is much different than the first one; there is no town building, nor is there the 'god-like' role. It's strictly an action/adventure game, but it has a very different style of play, and it is much harder.
You should still check it out though:tup:

This is poppycock bullcrap.
Neither ZSNES or SNES9x will play ActRaiser 2.
It starts the game, then when you pick a place to fight in, it zooms the map out, and freezes. WTF?? I can't play it, so I must ditch it.
I noticed I have The 7th Saga in my collection. Is this good? Worth the time? I don't know when I got it but I might as well play it.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma VERY HARD mode. Chapter 3, I just passed the challenge where I had to kill 100 soldiers on the plane. I tried, but the best I could do was to only use one healing item and still ended up almost losing my health bar by the end
I really to learn how to not get hit....or hit my controllers

If you don't mind spending 5 turns in every battle buffing your two party members, it's not a bad game. I personally will never go back and play it again after beating it once, but that's just me. I think the defend then attack system is kinda dumb though.
Was kinda neat in that battles were pseudo random. You have a circle that shows guys coming after you, but if you walked fast enough, you could avoid them.

Burnout: Revenge. I'm no longer ranked Unsafe. No, I am now Reckless. Anyone or the road better make sure their insurance is paid. In a Car Attack scenarion, I had to get $400,000 to get a gold in order to win. When it was over I racked up $1,273,675. I didn't think I'd kill the high score by that much.
Fatal Fury Battle Archives vol. 1. I don't know why anyone wouldn't like FF3. It's a fast paced fighter with quick dodge buttons. IMO, it makes the collection worth owning along with FF Special. Oh and screw you, Andy Boggart. I can't beat him in FF Specail or FF3.
ThePurpleBunny
11-17-2007, 05:11 PM
Yes, Andy in FF3 was a bringer of the frustration.
However, that does not compare to the cursing up a tropical storm I did when I fought the stars of the hit movie Twin Midget Dragons.
Ah, Chonrei and Chonshu. I will forever hate the both of you and your anti-air ballarena spin roflcopter punch.

Just finished Ninja Gaiden Sigma on hard mode. Now there's Very Hard and if I ever beat that, Master Ninja mode. I won't be starting any new games in that for a while.
Still stuck on Griffon 3 in DMC1 Hard mode. Fuck. I should just start the game over from scratch so I can buy all of the abilities for the hard mode game.Fully Charged Metoery that ass. Goes down like pie.

There is always that part. Off the top of my head...
The 3d levels in Contra III.
The slower-paced ice caverns in God of War II.
The underwater sections of Viewtiful Joe
Nova Prospekt in Half-Life 2
The swimming levels in Ninja Gaiden Black
The last half of World 3 in Yoshi's Island
Speed-bike race of doom in Battletoads
Pipe World in SMB3
Anyway, its up about that Contra 4 over here. Hella good game, but really fucking hard.

DMC3: Level 16. Dante drove a motorcycle up a wall and beat up some reapers with it. This game makes me cry.
Royal Guard is finally mastered (been using it since I started). I tried the other styles a bit and don't like them, so I'm going to just stick with RG.

Playing Uncharted. On chapter 15 but it already has my vote for game of the year. I can't recall having this much fun with a game, especially of its genre in a long time. I'm truly blown away.
Like... Man haha. I'm seriously smiling while playing it.
Also playing Assassin's Creed which is just about as equally impressive, if not more impressive from a technical standpoint, but it's just not quite as much fun to me. The characters/story/dialogue really boost Uncharted.
Annd continuously playing fighters, of course. VF5 is getting the most play as of late.

I'm currently playing Winning Eleven: Pro Evolution Soccer 2007. I have always favored this game over FIFA any day of the week (and I hate EA, so...), and this year it is no exception. The pass system seems to be a little more loose this year...now your passes are not guaranteed to arrive to the target even when you press the pass button. You gotta know where to send 'em. Same thing goes for pressure tactics. Pressing X won't give you clean tackles all the time.
Brazil is also hard as fuck in this game. :annoy:

Mega Man ZX Advent, I like finally being able to transform into the bosses and get most of their attacks as opposed to just one. Though the Ugoyle's ghost ability is under used, damn shame, they could have mage some great platforming elements with that. They could've used more puzzles with Queenbee's ass-docking ability. Overall though it's a pretty good game. I like how Hedheshock, the yellow, electric, squeaky voiced rodent seems to be an obvious stab at Pikachu.

Valkyrie Profile. Even though I'm an hour through, I regret not getting this earlier. Battle system is unique with each character being assigned to a face button, but I don't really understand item system/skill system. Anyone care to explain?
Sonic Riders. Just when I thought F-Zero GX had the cheapest AI... The AI in this game not only throws you off the track but just when you are about to make that final stretch to the finish, one pops outta NOWHERE and takes first place. Though this game does breed anger, its also the type of game that will keep you playing until you beat the AI, only to breed more anger in the next stage.
Also have SaGa Frontier around. Should I get into it before/after VP?
ReggieHadoken
11-24-2007, 03:49 PM
Got in some Fatal Fury Battle Archives vol. 1, Fatal Fury Special. I actually beat the game with Billy Kane. The AI couldn't screw with me when I used Billy. He was just unblockable with his staff. It felt good to be kicking Andy Howard's can for a change. I actually paused the game intentionally when that *** took a hit. Was like "Yeah, suck it, scrub!"
I can never seem to get a gold on Burning Lap events on Burnout: Revenge. There are so many shorcuts that at times it doesn't pay to have your boost on all the time or you'll just fly right by them. Oh and Traffic Attacks is much more fun in city levels. Did one where I was on the country side and it just didn't seem to fit well.

Someone mentioned Yoshi's Island. I played it. Some of that shit is real hard. Especially parts when you have to concentrate on 5 different enemies coming at you. Baby Mario cries make me want to kill him myself.
Rockman & Forte (or, Megaman and Bass for the non-Japanese). Some of the robot masters are broken, even when you have the right weapon. I'm pretty sure I stopped playing this once before because it kept pissing me off, and it'll probably happen again.
Should not be surprising since it was released in Japan, and they like to make shit difficult.

Sounds like you've never played SaGa Frontier before. I'd say polish off VP first then move into SaGa. I say this because SF can be a very time consuming game. LOTs of fighting. Even regular encounters are hard.
I was reading through the Contra 4 Thread and it got me in the mood for some Conta action. So I fired up Shattered Soldier. Game is hard as ever and I'm just playing on easy. They generously give you 99 continues. I beat the first level, dying about 4-5 times. The level where you ride missiles over water is a pain. The first sub boss.... took me some time before I got his pattern down again. I've used 3 continues on this staged. Gotta love this games rock soundtrack.

Well, you don't have to beat ALL the bosses again. Just the ones that will light the crystal path on that wall (I think you could beat as few as 3 bosses to get access).

There's actually technique to it. You know that map they show you after each boss? It's color-coded to the bosses. All you have to do is beat enough bosses to make a circle on the map.
But yeah, it's still lame (good for levelling shit up though).
Edit: Lantis beat me to it.

Items, Magic, changing equipment and everything else you'd find in a menu is accessed in battle by pressing Select, and will consume a turn. Magic cast from there will hit every enemy in battle (good against enemies with similar elemental weaknesses).
Skills (and magic, incidentally) are learnt through items you get in dungeons. Skills are universally learnt, but you need points to activate them. For instance, the First Aid skill. You can find the skill in a dungeon, but to activate it, you'll need to get enough points to get it, and then put it on their active skills list (the menu is pretty self explanatory on this). Magic on the other hand does is basically a one shot scroll for a mage to learn the spell.
I just woke up, so sorry for the explanation if you don't get it. But it should be easy enough.
EDIT: The SaGas in general are pretty goddamned good, but I dunno if they're your cup of tea.

Ask yourself this: Do you want Phantom Hourglass, FFIII, and/or DQMonsters Joker? If you're not too into them, then go for a ds by itself (why a used pink ds?).
Speaking of DS stuff, Contra 4 is awesome.

So I just bought AOF Anthology the other day. I started with AOF 1 and boy...that game is random as fuck. I should have expected no less considering it was one of the first fighting games to come out, but damn is it weird. Random one-hit dizzies, jump kicks sometimes knock down opponents (without neccesarily having to dizzy them), a bizarre control scheme (press these 2 buttons in sequence to deliver.....A LOW KICK! OMFG!), and the NON existance of combos. When I was playing as Ryo, I landed a deep jump kick, and the opponent was still stunned when I reached the ground, so I attempted some low kicks to link into whatever special move, but then realized that the low kicks were going RIGHT THROUGH the opponent without damaging them! :wtf:
Not to mention the special moves are slow as fuck. Forget ever trying a Hien Shippu Kyaku without the opponent knocking you out of it first. :annoy:
Oh well, gonna mess with my friends in VS. mode for a while (gotta try those CPU characters), I'll move on to AOF 2...

Star Ocean: Second Story
Doing Claude's side because Rena sucks unless you want Dias/Enix Sephiroth, but he's still only like the 3rd(maybe even 4th) best attacker in the game.
1. Claude
2. Ashton
3. Bowman or Dias
4. Whoever isn't at #3
5. Precis Newman
6. Chisato
7. Ernest
8. Opera
9. Noel (if you even count him...)

Ugh still on Revenge of Shinobi. I hate this one board where these fucking ninjas jump outta the water and attack you. Real life waster, because if you get hit you fall into the water and die. :/ not to mention this huge as gap that must be jumped at the end, without jitsu of fushin it's impossible. T_T

Bah, Sega really fucked up the American version of SoR3. Not only do we get less cutscenes(including that badass shot of Axel smacking the screen), but a dumbed down storyline, less characters to fight, uglier colors/outfits, and a wacked difficulty(Normal was Japan's Hard mode I believe).
Plus, the Jap version has you beat up this gay nigga named Ash. Who doesn't love doing that?

Accent Core to practice combos here and there. Fun game but like all fighting games that don't have extra fun things it gets pretty placid without any comp.
Final Fantasy XII: At first I enjoyed it since it was like a mix between WoW and Vagrant Story, but the story really doesn't pull me in. Sure, the graphics are nice and all, but unlike the other Final Fantasy games I spend most of the time looking at the map rather than what's happening on the screen. I had that gripe with FFX but at least FFX had an interesting story and a non-prepubescent looking kid as the main character. Seriously, Vann looks like a direct rip-off of Tidus and Zidane.

Disgaea Afternoon of Darkness came out for PSP a few months ago (october iirc).
Last good RPG I played on PS2 was DQ8 or Radiata Stories.
Samurai Legend Mushasi was decent, but it's more of a platformer type thing. It's like KH w/o the hype. Some of the fx's are helluh annoying though.
Well, FFXII too, I fucking LOVE that game, yet, I hate WoW, irony? probably.

Currently playing Hitman Blood Money. Its my first Hitman game so I don't really know what happened in the previous games. I will pick up the trilogy for PS2 and its only $30.
Anyways I like the freedom of how you can complete each level and the different ways to take out your target. I always find myself doing trial and error when I try to beat the levels cleanly which annoys me a bit, otherwise I enjoy this game a lot.

That's what kinda bugs me about FF XII, too. Sure, the presentation of the game is EXCELLENT and the engine is superb (considering that they tampered with the classic FF battle system), but the story is pretty meh. For once, you don't have end bosses thrown out of nowhere or plot twists that don't make much sense, but the story is kinda predictable and doesn't offer much to dwell with. And despite the length of the game, I was kinda taken by surprise when the game ended after I finished the Bahamut. Ended kinda abruptly, IMO. They should have added more romantic tension between Ashe and Vaan, for once.
Speaking of Vaan, he is probably one of the most BORING main characters that the FF saga has had. I have no problems with his design, mind you...it's just that he isn't interesting at all. Blah blah blah he's a street pickpocket blah blah blah wants to be a sky pirate. Boom. That's it. End of story. He doesn't even end up having much weight on the story, either. And Penelo isn't that much better, either (she kinda "fades away" aside from that angle she had with Larsa).

That's probably cause the main character was Ashe and, to a lesser extent, Balthier. Vaan and Penelo were tagging along for the ride (as was Fran).
I mean, I like the game, and I like the designs, but I'm just saying. I personally like the story but I can certainly see how the issues you mentioned can b ug some people. It doesn't help that, while there is a lot of story, it's buried in so much game it's hard to get there (I'm in Giruvegan currently, which is pretty fucking big, and I heard that Pharos is LONGER?!?!).
Just saying, that's all.

I felt the developers got lazy on the later half of FFXII(story wise). There was barely any character development. It just came down to, go to point A then B and then C and you got all the powers to stop the evil blah blah blah.
Other than that, I think the game is pretty good.

Pharos at Ridorana is, indeed, quite big...well, especially the Second Ascent. HUGE complicated rooms where you have to find a single stairway to get to the next floor. :bluu: After you finish the Pharos, it becomes a slightly more pleasant trip once you get access to the elevator, but the first time around will leave your head spinning. :looney:
And nothing, NOTHING compares in size to The Great Crystal. Sheer size of it + multiple way stones + no map + no teleport stones + monotonous layout = MUCH FRUSTRATION! :annoy:

I've had my eye on Eternal Sonata since I played the demo. Part of the reason why I'm interested in it is because of the developers. I heard no. That's why I'm only playing number 3.
Well, basically, the idea is that there's a lot of cutscenes littered in between the mediocre/bad (I've heard varying opinions on this) gameplay. Cutscenes that take up a lot of time, like above 40 minutes, I heard. If that sounds like your thing, then by all means do (tenner should be a bargain for two games).
I heard (and currently am in favour of) the opinion that Xenosaga 3's pretty good. Even the haters of the other Xenosagas would easily say that 3 is the best, and would play it in spite of hating the earlier games.
To sum up: Get Xenosaga 3 at least, and if the other two sound like your thing, then get them too.

Xeno 1 is where it all started and had decent reviews. Like posted above, I too heard of these ultra-long cutscenes. I can say that I actually fell asleep during some cutsecene in which they were talking(and they talk a lot). Boss battles do take some time too. Longest fight I had inn FFVII was the last three fights against Sephiroth(3 fights=40 mins) No boss fights are short. It's just that they all take some time so that over time long fights will seem normal to you. It's good but you can skip it since Xeno 3 has the entire story plus pics to cover both Xeno 1&2. Y'know why? Cuz namco knows not everyone has played Xeno 1&2.
Xeno 2. Battle system that no one liked. Reviews were something along the lines of:"If you had problems with Xeno 1, Xeno 2 is much worse. It proves Xeno can be an ugly bitch if it wants to. Xeno 2 is the DMC 2 of the series, etc." People feared that Xeno would fall off the face of the Earth because Xeno 2 was so bad.
Xeno 3 is the best but you have to train like hell. lvling up won't help either. It's all about SP.

Actually, I heard by a number of people Xeno 2 had a decent battle system. This point was mooted by the fact that apparently, simple battles take like 10 minutes at least, and no one wanted to go through shit like that even though they liked the gameplay.
All of my opinions on the earlier games are hearsay though, as they clearly didn't appeal to me (too long cutscenes? Fuck that). Xeno 2 was an ugly sonofabitch though, from what I've seen, but I also think Xeno 1 is ugly too.

Currently playing Mega Man ZX advent, and Shadow of the Colossus. Both awesome games so far. Toward beginning of SotC, near middle/end of MMZX:A
I like Xenosaga 1 more than 2, but I have to say that 2 probably has a deeper fighting system. But as mentioned, even the simple battles take a long time, especially near the end of the game where you just want to run away from everyone (the enemies don't even give that much experience anyway). What I didn't like in Xenosaga 2 was the way skills were learned and they didn't have the ability learning system from items like Xenosaga 1 had...also, the voice acting didn't seem as good, and the storyline had less character development than in the first one. Still, Xenosaga 2 isn't a bad game...if they merged the tech/ether/skill systems of Xenosaga 1 with the battle system of Xenosaga 2, it might have been more enjoyable.
I haven't played much of three but from the looks of it, the game actually seems even more simplified than the previous ones and that disappointed me.
I can't recommend starting at part 3 though...the storyline is great and it's just not the same to read about it. I didn't mind the long cutscenes because in most cases, they had some meaningful content. I'd for sure recommend going through Xenosaga 1, especially all of the cutscenes...Albedo is too good.

You should play the first one so you can enjoy the improvements of the sequel. I think GoW2 is a MUCH better game than its prequel though. More bosses, better moves, better weapons, better level design, some of the best pacing outside of Resident Evil 4/Half-Life 2...simply an amazing title and th e best action adventure game out there.

Xeno 3 had great cutscenes. I'll agree with Emil about the cutscenes in the others because while they are long they are quite interesting and gives lots of info. It really did support the story, pretty much without out you'll miss a good chunk of the story. Xeno 3 has the KOS-MOS vs Telos fight that was awesome. Rarely I would say a Xeno cutscene was crap and should be skipped. If you have the time play Xeno 1 and 3. If you can put up with 2, then go for it. Honestly I couldn't force myself to read all of the story. I would have rather played it myself.

Man i really want to play through the Xenosaga series especially after i saw both Xenosaga I and II for 10 bucks a piece at Gamestop.
Is it worth playing through?
Play through 1. Watch the cutscenes of 2 on YouTube. And play 3.
Part 1 was the crack, period. Battles were always exciting, and it was worth it to level your characters and their stats and tech moves, because later your team becomes obscenely strong. And lets just say I was at Lv. 50 and killed the final boss in 2 fully stocked turns with Shion, KOS-MOS, and Jr. The storytelling was top notch and it's worth a play.
Part 2 just plained sucked. All battles follow 1 general rule. Stock, Attack, Repeat. And I wouldn't wish this on my own worst enemy. But on second thought... Outside of using Erde Kaiser or a Double Tech Move, that are what battles come to. And it's just plain fuckin boring. Which again I suggest watching the cutscenes on YouTube. You don't have to suffer through 2, but you get the story elements.
Part 3 corrects just about everything but it seems rushed. And it has to be 3 games storywise and you get shafted for a year in the story that was orginally supposed to be this game. You can read up on what happened on some web site. But the battle system is nasty. Combining elements from the first 2 and adding new stuff makes it a balanced system. So playing 3 is highly recommended.
And Xenosaga 1+2 was supposed to be coming out in the US but it got canceled. That game was supposed to clear up some fuzzy things within the game's continuity and write some events out of canon. But it did come out in Japan though. So take that for what you will. And again I ask everyone to look at how the series needs to be played through.
Play through 1. Watch the cutscenes of 2 on YouTube. And play 3.
Can't lose with that logic.

I was in 4th grade when IX came out. When winter vacation came, I beat the game in a week. When I got to the Desert Palace I was royally fucked. I think you couldn't use magic in that section or something. The game was pretty easy otherwise. I have the art book for it as well.
Playing PSX Megamans... X4 right now. For some reason, Slash Beast is harder than he used to be. The bosses are awesome though. They use fighting game moves. It should be obvious with Magma Dragoon. He gives Zero Ken's shoryuken, basically. Magma Dragoon even does a spin kick. Slash beast does Marvel Guile's flash kick projectile and something similar to berserker barrage. X4 was definitely my favorite. X5 is great as well.
Edit: Actually, Magma Dragoon even says HADOUKEN and SHORYUKEN. And X4 is short. X5 on the other hand... Is ridiculous. It's not even that good anyway. Kind of dumb how you pretty much start off Force Armor.
What PSX games (not RPGs) do you recommend that I probably haven't played?

I thought it was going to be easy since I was getting better at the game and this time there was no stupid flying fiends with scythe...instead there were 1 Red Ninja and 2 Catwomen
Well, there is nothing like getting hit in the air, grabbed, and hit 3 more times by the three of them at the same...or trying my best to evade and still got my guard broken too many times
then just earlier I fought the clone...the douche actually two incendiary shruiken within the span of 5 seconds= 4 hit combo + 2 explosions= GG for me
I am gonna beat Master Ninja, I am going to

ZX Advent - Ouroboros is pissing me off. Area 1/2 are typical "long hallway w/ random baddies followed by boss reunion"
Area 3... has these red blocks that kill you if you touch them, and regenerate after you destroy them. After dying a couple of times, I got the idea to use Chronoforce/Vulturon to navigate past all the nonsense. All's going well.. and I run out meter and land on some spikes :annoy:

Been playing Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn a lot lately. Why is Micaiah's team so full of suck? She sucks, Ilyana sucks, Leonardo sucks, Meg SUCKS, Fiona's pointless, Aran's too slow (nice defense, though), etc. It's like the only good characters are your axe users (Nolan, Jill), your prepromoted units (Zihark, Tormod, Tauroneo, Sothe), and your laguz (yes, even though Volug kinda sucks, he is still more useful than half of the beorc garbage they give you early on). Edward's okay, but he requires a lot of leveling up. Black Knight and Nailah are obviously broken.
I seriously hope Ike's team is good (I've heard that basically everyone from PoR is on his team, and they are even more powerful).

I never realized how important my thumbs are to gaming until it's too late...........
I fucked up my thumb yesterday, and as far as console gaming goes, I'm MIA until it heals up.
I'm playing FFX-2 now...I don't find it as bad as many people say about it. Why is this game so hated? Main reason I could think of is that the storyline is poor (so far at least), but the battle system doesn't seem bad, and the dresssphere/garment grid system is innovative. The minigames aren't so bad either, like Sphere Break, although i admit it wasn't as fun as Blitzball in FFX.

Story sucks, characters suck, really stupid cutscenes (let's put on a concert...).
Also, most of the major characters from X had little to no involvement. Auron is nowhere to be seen, Kimahri was too busy being the chief, and Wakka and Lulu were too busy making babies to be part of the game (some people were also probably pissed/creeped out when they found out that Wakka was banging Lulu).
The battle system though, was really good (best FF battle system on the PS2, IMO), but the idea of making jobs into dresses was kinda dumb and the ultimate dresses owned the normal game pretty hard.
It's mainly the ass story and characters that turned people off.

I never used the Ultimate Dress Spheres that much. They were pretty weak since I neglected them.
Simple trick. Level up your Gambler [or whatever the **** it's called] and get DOUBLE EXP and DOUBLE GIL [if you want], go to the ruins in the Thunderplains [after you beat that big monster shit] and just run around in there. You'll be Lv.99 after a bit.
I just fought there because you encounter an enemy after every some odd steps and they give a nice amount of EXP.

Auron was sent in the end of X you fucking retard.
Everyone knew Wakka and Lulu were going to fuck.
Everyone knew Kimarhi would run the ronso.
Rikku was tolerable (and hot)
Paine imo was a great edition to the game (hotness as well)
the story DID suck, but the new character editions were needed for the story. Someof the characters (Nooj) were fucking retarded, but some didn't do much but were still awesome (Baralai)
Yeah, the story DID suck, but, the dialog, the classes, the battle system, the characters and how annoying sphere break was (along with Shinra) were awesome.
If you get past the whole "why did this FF have a sequel when none of the others have?" is because X was the most popular FF next to 7 so they fucking milked it just like they're milking 7 now with 0-435495-694-5 different add on games/side stories/prequels and shit.
So FFX is no different so I don't know why you think X-2 sucked. Aside from the story, everything was brilliant.
also edit: GeesePants, change your avatar. I thought you were million for a second and I was like :amazed: million got dat premium?!?!?!

Damn, people get their panties in a knot fast. Emil asked for reasons why people don't like FFX-2 and I gave it to him. Go read any negative review of the game and by and large, most of the time the reason the reviewer didn't like FFX-2 is because of the story and characters.
Obviously some fans of FFX will be miffed that their favourite character did not get any decent amount of time or development in this sequel. Yes, I remember that Auron was sent, but that doesn't mean that he is automatically non-existant. It wasn't too long ago in the story that FFX took place, so it would have been nice to have left some sort of legacy instead of totally disappearing off the face of the planet. Breath of Fire 3 takes place way after 1, but they still put in some homages to that game as well.
And I'm not sure why StuartHayden is ragging on me for the battle system. I said it was really good (aside from the brokenness of Ultimate dresses and the fact that changing jobs was in some ways playing dress up). If FFX had this system instead of the turn based one, I would probably consider it one of the best FFs ever. However, a large number of FF players play them for story, and a lot of them consider FFX-2 a failure in that department, which is why it isn't as widely appreciated as other FF games.

FF X-2 tied up loose ends from FF X mainly the fate of Tidus. The game did its job although i refuse to go through the ass pain of trying to get the "Perfect" ending so as far as i'm concerned the "Good" ending was close enough. I'll leave it at that.
Lets quit this arguing and get this thread back on topic.

I don't know who was the jack ass that told me it had replay value. After the first time around, it just got on my nerves and so I basically ended up hating the game.
On a side note, I hate games that can be broken easily. I got into an argument with a friend. You know, the "what's your favorite FF" argument. So I basically told her that I didn't like FFT because of calculators and geomancers. Another game that could easily be broken was Marvel Ultimate Alliance (and X-men Legends). All were good games, but when I find something that works really well, I just begin abusing it.
Playing:
Silent Bomber: Beast PSX action game no one has ever heard about. Deserves a sequel.
MGS VR missions: You play as motherfucking Grey Fox!
MediEvil: Fun old game. I loved the style of it. It reminded me of Nightmare Before Christmas.
Exteel: Decent shooting MMO. Last Stand is a cool game mode and it has no hackers, but the novelty wears off quickly.

Played through Earthworm Jim 2. MUCH better game than the original. All the levels were cool except "The Flying King". Very challenging, and a few bugs here and there, but a quality platformer. In fact, I can't even call it a platformer. The game has isometric flying, maze-like digging, blind salamander floating, irrelevant quiz answering("What color is Jim's red gun?" The answer is green. "Is Jim dyslexic?" sey "Is this a trick question" Answer: The sock), salt-dodging, file cabinet chucking, cow-herding, and a final boss which is a foot race with your arch enemy to see who gets to marry Princess Whats-Her-Name.
Shit is WACKY, and the cartoon is even funnier. I still got all the episodes taped on VHS

Is Disgaea a counterargument?
It's hardly even the best thing N1's put out. Much less something that'd trump other SRPGs.

Just because they're SRPGs doesn't mean they play anything alike, man.
It's like saying Dark Cloud 2 and FFXII and FFX-2 are similar because they all feature actions in real time. They're not.
Ah well. N1 is not Atlus, but whatever. I like some of the things Atlus puts out (Nocturne and DDS), but not one thing that N1 has put out that's greatly impressed me (the closest was Phantom Brave).
But hey, if you like their games, more power to you. I'll have Suikoden Tactics with me.
Which reminds me, I had a go on my cousin's PSP the other day and was playing FFT. Man, everything was great (even the over the top dialogue) but what is up with the slowdown? I heard about it and thought it'd only be for the more chaotic maps with more effects like say casting a summon with 10 characters on screen. No this shit happens when there's only like 2 characters left and one does something that is not "Attack" or "Move."
What gives, S-E?
EDIT: Just to clarify, I meant that Suikoden Tactics and Disgaea play radically differently. IIRC, Disgaea focused on powering up your characters in various ways as a main focus (the huge numbers involved emphasize this). This is the kind of motivation I like in my games (though I must admit some of the map designs in Disgaea were pretty good).
I like Suikoden Tactics because elemental terrains are basically your very own ever changing and castable/controllable buffs and debuffs. It allows me to do some very interesting things, like face like 30 enemies with a level 18 party. I find this a much more stimulating and rewarding game experience than what Disgaea offers.

Mega Man Anniversary Collection. I was THIS close to beating Elec Man without being hit! I still owned those platforms on Guts Man's stage, though. Only Ice Man and Fire Man are left.

Only had a PS2 for a year or so now (bought it just for Disgaea, La Pucelle and games like that) and had never played any of the Devil May Cry games.
The trailers I saw for DMC4 got me pretty excited for it, even though I hadn't played the first three, so I went out and got the 5th anniversary collection that comes with them all. I'm about halfway through the first one and am pretty impressed with it. Considering its age, its still pretty visually impressive. Damn fun and the default difficulty level is refreshingly challenging.
Friends tell me DMC2 is the series lowpoint, so I'm not too excited about getting to it.
Playing Omega Five and Marvel Ultimate Alliance on the 360.

DMC2 is the weakest DMC title, but nowhere near does it suck. Play it for yourself, yadda yadda yadda.

Started puttin' in some game time into Okami and realized that there are those little beads scattered throughout the whole damn game.
I'm thinking of trying to find them all. Then I'll probably resort to a guide or something, because I know I'll miss a grip without one.

I'm playing Metal Gear 1 2 and 3 to get ready for the fourth one on PS3. I just beat the first one, took me two days(11:30 hours.) and it was really really good, story line and everything... I heard the second one is the best so I'm gonna start it tomorrow... Can't wait.
I recommend anyone that is planning on getting MGS4 go back and play all the Metal gears(yes, including the first one.) You'll be glad you did.

Just beat Mega Man Maverick Hunter X. Pretty good remake, but I didn't like the changing of some of the parts. WTF @ the ending too. The original Castlevania-esque one was awesome, and the music was perfect. This one was just..."uh...what?". Still, a pretty darn good game. Now to play through it with Vile.
Also playing Metal Slug Anthology for PSP. I know the PS2 version is better because it doesn't slowdown or have crappy load times, but I got Metal Slug 1-5 on my PC  Its awesome having them on the road, including Metal Slug 6. I'm just much better with a Dualshock than a PSP, so I don't expect to be getting any high scores on the thing.
Looking forward to that Devil May Cry 4 too!
I managed to beat Syobon (http://gamedata.box.sk/_extra/syobon-action.zip) this week in ~150 lives, and so now I'm preparing myself for either Punishment 2 (I could never beat that game) or I Wanna Be The Guy.
It's refreshing to play some games that are stupidly hard, even if they're hard for the sake of being hard, given the difficulty of commercial games in recent years. This genre where you just have to Man Up and deal with insane problems has a bright future.. so long as the games are still fun at a basic level.

Still tryin to finish up Sin and Punishment on the virtual console. Playing through Mega Man ZX advent and FFXII revenant wings. Revenant Wings really makes me miss old school 3D. This normal mapped shit gets to me at times and the low poly environments on the DS are a nice break from those. Low poly with low res textures ftw.

Dunno, MGS 2 is kinda like a mixed bag in the whole Metal Gear community. Some love the game, some of them absolutely HATE it (namely, Raiden). I personally think people are giving it too much heat than what it deserves. I think it's a good game, although MGS 3 TOTALLY blows it out of the water.
