I am currently playing Viewtiful Joe just completed the first level, quite happy with it, and best of all I got it for 5 bucks literally.

They always start me with 12 minutes until the Temple drains my life bar. I get all the way at the end towards wisdom's hidden map but I can't seem to unlock this door guarding it. I haven't figured out wth the symbol is.

LOL. The first symbol or second? because the second is the Triforce. You have to draw it in one stroke. What you have to do is draw most of it from the bottom right corner, then to the left bottom, then to the top, then you stop halfway down the right and draw to the middle left.

I did my first million point stunt run today followed by a 750,000 point stunt run and I think I found the perfect spot to rack up points. Going to get back into Final Fantasy 12. I bought it a week before Crises Core and then stopped playing when I got into Crises Core. I dunno, the flamboyent clothing similiar to Final Fantasy 10 isn't really appealing to me compared to a lot of rpgs I've played. So playing some kid that got his clothing from a wied 80s music video is not so eager as to other games.

Let's see. Playing just about EVERY Capcom Beat-em-up ever conceived. Especially fond of that already mentioned Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara release. It's very epic, and Moriah (Thief) is sex.

Playing others for the first time, up to and including Battle Circuit (the LAST Capcom Arcade Beat-em-up ever made), Captain Commando, Knights of the Round, Armored Warriors, and a slew of others. Capcom in their prime, IMO.

Also ordered Shadow of the Colossus aswell. Should be here tomorrow.

I just finished Alf Layla wa-Layla in Sonic and the Secret Rings. IMO, this game needed a better jump mechanic. It's stupid that, in a game built around speed and fast reflexes, I have to charge my jump first. You should be able to jump on-reaction.

We need to get online sometime and play some of those. I LOVE Capcom beat'em ups. My favorites being AvP(The Dutch!), D&D:SoM(Always that Warrior), and Battle Circuit(Amazing animation, too bad the Captain Falcon rip off is the only decent character design for the good guys). Damn copyrights prevent a lot of my faves from being released on XBLA with online support though. Oh wait, there's always Kaillera.

Playing through SOTN again, because I haven't done it in years. Forgot how long this game was, particularly compared to AoS. Its still just as pathetically easy as I remember it(Blood Cloak + Holy Bible = 15 second boss fights FTL). I forgot some of the shit I was suppose to get, but I got my Icebrand/Holy Cloak, and have over 230+ HP. JUST got to the Inverted Castle(which is pure fucking brilliance, by the way). Now the fun begins :)

Thats one thing SOTN has over any of the other Castlevanias: atmosphere. From the music(ranging from orchestra to jazz and even guitars), the level design and backgrounds(wish they had some more warps, but oh well), and just the sense of discovery hasn't been topped. Still have a burning love for AoS/DoS, but God this game is epic fucking win too.

Konami needs to hurry up with some trailer for the new game. We know its coming, so stop hiding it damnit!

Just beat SOTN. That game was longer than I remember. Only got 161% this time around, didn't care enough to go fight Galamoth. Hell, I didn't even get the Alucard Shield, so no Shield Rod combo for me, I actually had to beat Dracula the legit way. I did horrible against him, but still got him in the end. Great, great game. Nice end credits song too :rofl:

Now to tie up some loose ends(I'm looking at you Galamoth) and on to Richter mode.

Soldier Blade has been taking up a lot of my gaming time, I can make it to level 5 without dying...then it gets crazy. the ship moves so fast in tight spots it causes a lot of accidental deaths.

Got in some Contra III on the SNES this afternoon. Beat it on easy then played on Normal. Lost so many lives on normal and then only made it to the last level. To bad I didn't have a buddy to get my back. Always helps in Contra games.

Bet your ass it's 10x fun with 2 players. Contra was DESIGNED for 2-player gaming. Good teamwork tactics apply especially in Contra III (one player shooting at boss/mini-boss, other player shooting all incoming soldiers).

What I hated most about Contra III was that next-to-last boss (the overhead stage). You know...that kind of brain thing with two worms coming out of it that spit fire. Room would spin so many times it made my head ache. :looney: :annoy:

Last boss was pretty innovative. You could choose his attack method. In Hard mode, it was pretty fuckin' hard to get the mode you wanted. I think the easiest mode was when he was surrounded by "small brains" (which you could destroy with a single bomb), and the hardest....eh...probably when he spit that worm thing that went all over the screen. :wasted:

Dammit I started Star Ocean 3 all over.. AGAIN. I let my friends girlfriend borrow it. When I got it back I had to go into this underground level and use this ring to destroy some walls since there was a hidden path behind a wall... So I reach the wall. I check the map. I'm in front of the wall. I press start, the menu pops up, I press square... the wall doesn't break nor does it show the green outline. I'm like WTF? So I leave and try again. Again and again and NO results. Then I thought well the game is pretty scratched up. So friday Hollywood video had this store closing deal and had 50% off various games. I picked up Tomb Raider Legend for 8 bucks and another copy of Star Ocean for 8 bucks too. Sweet deal.. Or so I thought. I get home, load the new Star Ocean(mind you this game was in near brand new condition) and I go to the wall and the WALL STILL CANNOT BE BROKEN. So I wasted money buying another copy.:mad:

Then I continued my Tomb raider game. Awesome I think. I can finally finish this game since I was at 44% done. Then I make it to the boss that Amanda(hot goth chick) unleashed....

You ever play a game in which the main character has some great abilites? lara done mountain climbing, deep swimming, dodges bullets and grenades. Fights super powered beings and is a gymnast...

WRONG! Lara is slow as fuck. I mean 5 year old children are faster than her! Not only is she slow, she's slow at EVERYTHING!!!! There's a mystical beast chasing her in the current boss fight. Lara moves slower than a 600lb fat guy in molasses....

WTH??? Who decided that being able to move fast made a game bad?

So right now I decided to take up Yiazmat in FF XII. Vaan is at level 99, with Basch at level 91, and everyone else is at level 85.

BOY this battle is boring and tedious as fuck. Pretty much everything goes smoothly until you've taken off half his health (which is already a chore at 25 million HP), and then he takes up only up to 7000 damage points, which makes the battle even SLOWER, not to mention how you have to keep casting Bubble/Protect/Curaja + random Arise everytime he one-hit kills someone.

It took me about 3 1/2 hours to get him down to 10 million HP before I decided to leave and save for another day (I read that he doesn't recover HP right?), but I think I can do it....

Eiko sucks compared to Garnet. As for the team of ownage, I'm pretty sure it's something like Zidane/Amarant/Steiner/Freya. When I played FFIX though I used Zidane/Garnet/Amarant/Freya.

As long as you don't stray too far from Yiazmat, he won't heal. Basically, running back and forth from the save point should be okay.

I loved Lost Odyssey. Real simple easy to learn battle system, with lots of upgrades like skills, rings, skill link, etc, so you can deck out your party. Watch out for the haters though, especially at Eb they'll be like "You sure you want this game?", so I just say "fuck you, you fat shit I'll buy at Best Buy where people don't give a damn."

But yeah its great.

Wow. This was the exact opposite of what I read in the "tiers for non-fighting games" thread long ago. Some poster said that Eiko is top and Garnet is shit, and yet now I'm hearing the other way around. Then again, that same poster said that Quina is shit despite tons of people agreeing that (s)he is very good if raised correctly, as well as saying Amarant is the #1 character in the game (he's really good, but most people wouldn't put him on top. Then again, people are HELLA biased on Vivi). Is it better to have raw damage, or versatility?

Is Lost Odyssey worth playing? I'm considering getting a 360 game that isn't a shooter and this is the main one that catches my eye right now.

As long as you don't stray too far from Yiazmat, he won't heal. Basically, running back and forth from the save point should be okay.

Well, I actually went to Rabanastre to resupply on Chronos Tears (due to White Breath) and Gold Needles (due to Stone Breath), came back, and he hadn't healed a bit. :wonder:

I'm still aprox. 1700000 HP away from beating him, because HOT DAMN! Yiazmat gets FUCKIN' NUTS when he hits the 5 million HP mark. He stops using any Breath attack, and starts comboing like crazy until someone is dead (8-hit combos FTL). I think I spend most of the time reviving characters than actually hitting Yiazmat (I can get a few licks in whenever I reenter while he is busy casting Growing Threat/Cyclone/Reflectga), and I also have to exit and recover after I've removed about 300000 HP.... Seriously, he gets THAT crazy. :looney:

The only thing Eiko has on Garnet is Phoenix. All of her other summons, Madeen included get outdone by Atomos which starts hitting for 9999 earlier than practically anything in the game and costs less MP (and also doesn't take a million years to summon).

Eiko sucks compared to Garnet. As for the team of ownage, I'm pretty sure it's something like Zidane/Amarant/Steiner/Freya. When I played FFIX though I used Zidane/Garnet/Amarant/Freya.

Yeah, he's actually a quite tough (for the level when you fight him) optional fight. Who gives out the best offensive accessory in the game, Genji Glove. Genji Glove effectively turns whoever is wielding the Masamune into God.

Just defeated Yiazmat in FF XII. Boy, that fucker gets batshit CRAZY when he hits the 5 million HP mark. Stops doing Breath attacks and Cyclone and just straight up rapes people with 9 hit combos. :wow: Had to slash off a million, exit, heal, return, repeat.... But I finally got him. Now the only boss missing is Omega Mark XIII.... I'll probably take him on when my average level is 90.

Oh, and FUCK those one-time chests. I'm saying this because I'm looking for the Dragon Whisker, which were in THREE one-time chests which I already opened, and now my only resource is to get it from some random chest (which doesn't always appear) in Cerobi Steepe with a 5% probability with the Diamond Armlet equipped.

Well, the main reasons Crysis runs like crap on most comps is because the texture detail and the draw distance are amazing (don't forget binoculars!). So if you turn down draw distance (and maybe textures) you should be fine.

....but I suggest you don't, cause then the graphics will look weird or like shit, and more importantly, the game gets even more intensive as the levels go by, so no matter how far you tone it down, you'll still have problems later on.

The game was tight, as one would expect from a Capcom beat-em-up. Its' popularity sure did blew up since Captain Commando appeared in MvC (curiously, it was also discovered how pretty much all of Captain Commando's comrades got their name changed for the US version. Gennity = Mack the Knife, Hoover = Babyhead. I dunno what Ginzu's original name was....)

Returning to the game itself, it was pretty awesome to see Mack/Ginzu being able to maim people when they killed the cronies off or how Captain Commando could burn them to the bones (of course, this was to be censored in the SNES version).

Funny how Captain Corridor seems so....unimpressive in the game as well. :confused:

Rushing attacks are pretty effective in the game, too, much like they are in Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, as well.

Final Fantasy Tactics is no more. It was nice break from fighting games and action games. I feel that this game matched the hype, but at the same time, things got a lot less interesting when the crystals/auracites showed up in the story. There are too many characters and not long enough story IMO. Still, fuck Delita. This is first time I RAAAAGEd at the "friend turned enemy" character. he really did deserve to die. Ninja + low faith + high bravery + autopotion with only x-potions + a lot of flails and axes combo pretty much carried out the entire game until the very last part. This combo was awesome, and I got it from here too, I just forget who taught me on that, but thanks.

Z!M: to me, Suikoden 3 was the best one, and I've played the first three suiko. IMO it had the best atmosphere. The game is a lot of grinding, but like most console RPGs there are ways to grind correctly.

This combo is nice, and saved my ass vs few boss fights. The only problem is that when they get hit by combos/get surrounded, shit hits the fan. I think, ultimately, math skills/immune or absorbe equipment is the best combo during later part.

I just wanna say, Aliens vs. Predator 2 is fucking awesome, and I haven't even touched MP yet. The campaign's story is well thought out, with all three Campaigns (i.e. species) being awesome to play as/with, and you get a unique experience with all three. It's really one big game, so in order to get the full story and experience, you will need to play all three. It's dope. The characters actually interact (pass each other up in their respective campaigns), too. It's quite epic.

Also, holy shit the sounds/music is taken straight from the films. This game is old as shit, and I still found myself jumping at times, or being nervous as hell from hearing a Pred's roar in the background, or acid dripping in a corridor. EPIC SHIT.

AVP2 is now on my coveted List of EPIC FPS titles, one must play. I need to download the Primal Hunt expansion, now. Ferserious,

It's even more ugly to me now, and I never had much of an interest in that game's world and characters/story anyway. It was one of the first games people went on and on about, and I was the odd man out thinking "what's the big deal? It's 'just another beatemup'." Streets of Rage and other assorted beatemups were always superior. The enemies look retarded, and the animation is basically non-existent in FF. That still strikes me as odd though...I remember at least the animation being better at the time....but ALL those youtube links supposedly showing the arcade version can't be wrong can they?

That's kinda unfair.... It must be reminded that Final Fight 1 was Capcom's FIRST beat-em-up. That's kinda like criticizing SF 1 for being so shitty, being that it was probably at the same level as Karate Champ or Yie-Ar King Fu in terms of playability. Now obviously every other Capcom beat-em-up looks and plays better than FF 1, but that's just how evolution works.

Speaking of which, don't miss out on the Dungeons & Dragons series and Battle Circuit, if you want beat-em-ups that stray from the original formula. :wgrin:

I liked Samurai and building up the swordskill users whenever you got them. If you didn't level up too much, Agrias was a nice addition to the party.

I got my PS3 and picked up DMC4 at the same time, so I've been playing that.. It's been FOREVER since I've played a DMC (since #1) so I'm pretty behind the times with the combo system and all that, so i'm playing on pussy-ass human difficulty.

Fun shit tho, and the score is pretty tight. Im defintily in need of a more RPG like game tho... DMC reminds me more of a straight up "99 Nights" type of game where you just run around and rape shit, except with a highly superior storyline. Enoyable, but not really my style.

I got a question for those guys who have played Persona 3 or FES.

Its my first time playing it and I'm a little confused. My first persona is Orpheus, I have two others as I'm still in the beginning of the game. Orpheus started off with the skills Agi, and Bash. But after I got one of the other personas or after he gained a level or something he got another ability called Cadenza. Now if I press triangle and check my skills list, Cadenza is not there, its only there during battle. How did he get this skill? Why is it not on the skills list? Any info would help. I have Pixie and Apsaras as my other personas.

Edit: Also, I haven't fused any personas yet. Should I wait? Because they keep appearing during the shuffle so if I fuse two personas together can I reacquire them through the shuffle?

Another question. Can I change my party members Personas? Or do they have those for the whole game? If I can, how do I?

Some personas can do a fusion attack if you have the right skills and the required personas in your party. It's like a double or triple tech from Chrono Trigger. Cadenza is with Orpheus and Apsaras in your party.

Edit: Don't worry about re-obtaining personas that you fuse, you can buy them back any time when the compendium becomes unlocked.

From what I've played you can't change your party's personas, but I'm still a noob at this game too.

Some skills involve multiple personas.

I forget which one (Pixie or Apsaras) Orpheus pairs up with for Cadenza..

Another example would be Jack Frost + Pyro Jack (I think the skill is called "Jack Brothers"), this one knocks all enemies down.

I'd say wait till you have a decent list of personas before you start fusing any. That's just me, though.

No, your party members can't change personas. Some of em get upgrades, but other than that, they're stuck w/ the default ones the whole game.

You can buy them back anytime after you unlock the compendium. It isn't too far from the beginning.

i had stopped playing RPGs for like 3 years because i just absolutely could not care about them anymore. since this was 30 bucks i figured "what the hell?" i had heard a lot of good things about it.

seriously. i have not been able to stop playing. the best game i've played in forever. i'm even pulling all nighters again jsut to play it. i hadn't done that since Lunar SSSC.

so in short, yes, it's 30 bucks, totally worth it.

Beat the Omega Weapons in both FFVI Advance and FFVIII over the past weekend. The FFIV Advance Lunar Ruins is about halfway done, and I'm still not sure if the FFV Advance Sealed Temple is worth it (the encounter rate is just utterly ridiculous). Final Fantasy is taking over me as of late (although the FF rave is going to die down soon for me...for now).

Also playing Brawl in random bursts like usual. Still have no damn clue on who to main (although I've heavily narrowed down my choices over the weekend).

The AI is fucking broken in this game, and the controls suck. Sure, raping teams 15-0 on easy is nice. Set the difficulty any higher, and it's bullshit.

Yeah, I enjoyed leading 3-1 midway through the 2nd half. But then to give up 2 goals because you can't ever get the ball away from the AI is stupid. I was mad, and kicked my cat. I didn't even bother settling for extra time and just ended it as a draw because I knew the game would fuck me over on that too.

Also, why the hell does my guy wait a whole second after I press the "shoot" button before actually taking the shot? God dammit, when I've got the goalkeeper coming at me I want to shoot right then when he's away from the net, not have the shot buffered so it's taken when he's right in front of me and stops it instantly. GTFO.

Fuck EA and their shitty artificial intellegence and un-realistic gameplay.

the big gripe a lot of new players have is the A.I. controlled party members but i don't think it detracts from the experience at all. reason being is because the game plays in a way that you are actually the main character thinking for yourself (with the way you build your stats, managing your s.links, etc) and not the other characters.

The problem with the AI is it always tries to capitalize on enemies you've knocked down. Sometimes this isn't what you want because they might not finish off the enemy and the enemy can attack next turn. If they had not been attacked, they would have had to waste, at best, one round in which you'd have another 4 attacks to kill the enemy. This gets really frustrating when you're fighting multiple enemies with multi-hit spells like in the second block.

in the answer today, i fought NEO Minotaur or whatever. jesus that boss was hard as hell. luckily i had attack mirrors (sup gigantic blow?) plus thor is hella good against him because of null strike (except when he One Hit KOs your entire team with magarudyne). luckily i had spirit bracers so i beat him with my whole party dead and with aigis at 1 HP. woot!!!

as for Shadow Hearts: For The New World, it's a pretty fun game. but the story is kinda whack in my opinion. plus i thought johnny was a horrible main character, story wise and gameplay wise.

other good RPGs, DEFINATELY give valkyrie profile 2 a try. i think this is the funnest RPG on PS2 - not nessisarily the best, because i think P3 is a better game, but the battle system and customization, etc. there's a ton of stuff you can do. now's the time........... nibelung valesti, all up in the arse.

I agree, the CPU is BS. On easy, you can run up the score, no problem. Next level up...WTF? You can't score SHIT! Hell, you can't even keep the ball for more than 3 seconds before some defender is already on your ass. :wtf:

That is why I recommend to you, fellow soccer player, that you buy Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer 2008. Less BS rampant, and a lot more accesible difficulty. Just practice your shots (it's easy to send 'em into orbit at first) and you'll be fine after a while.

I died a bunch of times against the 3 hands on the 10th floor of Tartarus, but I think I'm ready to start raping them.

Do you guys buy weapons/items from the police station, or is it better to get them from Tartarus and from battles?

Get all the energy spheres, memorize the walls, and quickly get back to the middle of the track after each set and keep straight before the next wall. And don't stop boosting. There's also a delay when the clock hits 0 before the last door actually closes, as it read 0 when I beat it. It's hard as fuck, but it can be done.

I remember one time I hit the ramp and started celebrating because I thought I made it out. I didn't have enough speed going off the jump pad and clipped the door. Needless to say I took a short F-zero break afterwards.

You have to be careful when she falls to the ground, most of the time it's a baiting technique. If you get close to her while she does that she counters and insta-kills you.

If she isn't all crying and shit when she's grounded, then you can actually attack her. Also, charged attack owns her face, use it.

The World Ends With You is the shit. One of the best DS games, period.I also like that game. I just got to the part where you team up with Joshua though, and I gotta say he's not just an asshole, but Shiki was a better fighter.

um, FES, almost at the end of the answer i think. just beat the first boss on the last door. main personas are surt, power ranger lookin guy (has god hand and akasha arts), and cybele (3 element-dyne). dropped junpei, using mitsuru and akihiko, and rotating between metis and koro (i'm just using metis for the end, even though she sucks)

on top of persona 3 I picked up Secret of Mana. good game so far, music is top notch. the characters I just got in my party are worthless though, they die after like 1 hit.

I just picked up a copy of that game, along with Chrono Trigger.

The two of them combined cost me $150. X_X
