Gex: Enter the Gecko.

I got this back when it first came out. This game is too awesome for words. Haven't played in years and I remember why I loved it so much.

Ah, I see what you mean. Yeah if that happens, you're pretty much screwed. I just played a level where the only power up was Kuribo's Shoe. You don't even have to directly stomp on fools to KO them. I mean, you can, but pressing down and the power up button makes you stomp the ground hard and anyone near it gets GGPO'd.

I'm gonna start up that SMW thread.

I still haven't gotten past about 2 months [in-game time] in Persona 3: FES. I feel bad that I dropped the bills to buy it and don't even play it.

I have to dedicate some time solely for that game and just try to get back into the flow of things.

OMFG. i want to behead the stupid fucking beta testers who worked on Tales Of Symphonia on gamecube.

im liking this game, its fun and different from what i usually play * rpg wise *

But the stupid motherfuckers walking around town and in the shops, jesus fucking christ.....

Ill go next to someone and they will turn to the side, talk to me, and great. im stuck. i cant move no matter what. the person wont move and ill try for 10 minutes trying to get out but to no avail. and i just got in town form a dungeon and walking around for about 2 hours and was about to save. now i cant move.......

And now im in a town like 7 hours later from that time. i havent saved in like 90 minutes because im exploring every nook and cranny of this new town, buying items, supplies, fixing up my party, watching the story progress. time to save my game a........

this kid ran into me in the middle of a walkway, and im stick against the wall.

fucking. shit. i seriously want to meet the people who game tested this game and punch them in the fucking face.

it's pretty good, especially if you're into tomb raider. it's not hard at all so you can really breeze through it if you want. i enjoyed the graphics and the story, i mean the game itself is good (imo), which is why i found the ending so disappointing. BUT, play it and judge it for yourself, maybe it's just me, lol

I can't believe it took me so long to get around to spending some time with Ico. I played and beat Shadow of the Colossus years ago but I kept forgetting to give this game a try. The atmosphere of the game was something else. Considering that I had to drag a girl around with me everywhere I didn't mind because the game was just that good. Now I'm done with it and can only wait for Team Ico's next project.

But before I was defeating Ico I finished off MGS4. It is definitely the best Metal Gear I've ever played and does a great job of ending the Solid Snake story. Thank you Konami. What will you do now?

in the past week I beat FF4 DS, Fate/stay night UBW, and Castlevania 1 and 3. Up until now I hadn't seriously played or beat a Castlevania, so I figured it was about time to do so.

Playing Symphony of the Night through the Dracula X Chronicles right now. Pretty damn fun.

I beat FF9 earlier today. It's definitely one of the better Final Fantasies IMO, even though it paces slowly. I liked how every character was unique and had some kind of use to the party (even though some were more useful than others).

I've also been playing SCIV and SSBM. Fox, Falco, and Captain Falcon ftw (even though they eat chaingrabs for breakfast and have horrible recoveries).

Played Castlevania SotN for the first time. God damn it was addicting. 12 straight hours of that shit yesterday. Let me just say a few things about it:

1. Fuck water.
2. Fuck that giant asshole with the spinning blade.
3. Fuck that green monster bitch with laser explosion that somehow touches me even when I jump away from it.
4. Fuck Maria. Literally. Alucard should have hit that.
5. Fuck you, Richter. Your whip skills are weak.

Now I need a guide to get all the stuff.

at the moment the only game on my mind is Super Robot Taisen 2. there is just so much shit you can customize! the pilots stats, pilot skills, terrain adaptability, mech stat upgrades, mech attack upgrades, etc. etc.

some amazing sprite animations, and on the gba at that.
the gameplay is fun, deep and I only wish I had more money to upgrade my evasion stats!

as for story, I wish the presentation was a little more polished than just a bunch of text boxes over and over. as visually awesome as the battles are its such a drag reading 1000 boxes of text with the characters picture next to it in front of some background they are supposed to be in. *yawn*. can you hurry this up so I can do another battle?

There's other sadistic ROMhacks.

I forgot the name, but a Something Awful member also did one inspired by Kaizo Mario. This game was not so reliant on pinpoint reflexes, but on unconventional methods of getting through a level.

Let me put it this way; on stage 2, you have to build an invisible coin block bridge to proceed, while on a moving platform that's floating on lava.

And the invisible coin blocks are high, you need the spring to progress.

Sonic Megamix is straight business. It's 2 games in 1. It's a whole new game and it has the full Sonic 1 game in it too. And what's cool about it Sonic, Shadow, and Mighty all have different things they can do. The only power that really stands out is Mighty can stack Shields and use them at will. And going Super just continues to make that power broken as all hell. But the game is a must play for anyone who is a Sonic fan.

Truth! I just found out about Mighty and his shields last night. Tight stuff. Love all the options they let you tweak. Music is also pretty tight. I love that they included this song in the game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CHZ7tnH2sIA&feature=related

Can you play as Tails and Knuckles too? Or just Sonic, Shadow, and Mighty?

I think Tails is playable in 4.0b. Team Megamix discontinued the hack as of today. Sucks but from what they say, 4.0b is playable. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7j2Pz3N1mc&feature=related

Tails sucks. Him being able to fly means shit since well he's still slower. End of story.
So IMO it should be Sonic/Knuckles/Shadow NO ONE ELSE.

Anyway I'm currently playing:
FF Tactics(PSX)/FFVII/FFVIII/Legend of Legaia/MGS1/VS 3/MVC1/KOF 98/SBX/Xenogears

Other games like Chrono Trigger/FFXII/Xenosaga Epi III/GBA FF Tactics/multiple super Mario games I just wandered away from. One day I'll get back to them. Or that's what I tell myself.

I'm going to start doing these 100% runs in games now.

Tails sucks. Him being able to fly means shit since well he's still slower. End of story.
So IMO it should be Sonic/Knuckles/Shadow NO ONE ELSE.First of all, in most of the 2D games the character have either the same speed, or very very close to it. Second of all, in the games where they do have noticeable differences in speed (mostly the 3D ones) Knuckles is slower than Tails. Thirdly, Tails has been around for 3 games longer than Knuckles and is Sonic's official sidekick, so he gets priority.

Also, storyline wise, based solely on speed it would actually go Shadow > Sonic > Blaze > other.

From what I read they figured they would never fully complete it like they wanted to so they said fuck it and put out the 4.0b.

And Tails and Knuckles were in earlier versions of Megamix and got replaced by Mighty and Shadow. So find the earlier versions of the game and you can play with Tails and Knuckles.

@ReggieHadoken:
The music in Megamix is totally badass. I remember playing with Shadow and hearing the Stage Clear was from Gunstar Heroes had me like DAMN!!! The coolness about the music is that every act has it's own music and that's a really cool feature. And I think there is a Song Listing for Megamix somewhere. If I track it down I'll post it up.

The Japanese. That's what they do. No joke. There are some obvious bullshit in games there for the SOLE purpose of being an ass to the player. My favorite hands down is "random battle." It's so random that in every RPG you encounter a "random" battle when you push a button left or right etc/approach an exit/get near a save point/just finished a boss. That shit isn't random.

In other news... there was a Sonic movie in which Sonic faced Metal Sonic?! Was it any good? Hell, why am I asking here? To the Sonic thread!

OK, Metallic Base Zone on Sonic Megamix is by far the most annoying Zone in the game. Especially Act 3. The final boss is even more annoying. DoReMe Fantasy. Got past the fourth world. World 5 is a freaking ice world. Fun times are ahead. /Sarcasm.

Finished Super Mario Bros. 3. I never started a new game right after finishing so I had no idea the NES version loaded you up with P-Wings. Sweet! :woot:

Sonic Megamix 3.0. Already finished the game with Sonic and Mighty. Super Mighty is B-R-O-K-E-N. I like that he can turn his super form on and off, or is this something all characters can do? Sonic Megamix 4.0 has Sonic, Shadow, Mighty, Tails and Knuckles. It was also fitted for the Sega CD.

Been playing some Mega Man hacks, switching up between them. I'm getting better. Not only can I get to some of the robot masters, I can KILL them too! The latest MM hack to surface is Rockman: Deus Ex Machina. Go ahead and TRY to get through Quick Man's level without killing Flash Man first. You're SCREWED in that level without the Flash Stopper.

I've been playing shmups on Dreamcast lately, namely Triggerheart Exelica, Under Defeat, Border Down, and Zero Gunner 2. Out of the four, Border Down is the hardest IMO. I can't even count how many times I see "Border Down" every time I lose a life. Also, it is one of the most expensive games I have ever come across. The highest price I've seen for it so far is about $399. The game is very challenging and really really fun....but it's definitey not worth $399.

Picked up a bunch of games.

Xenosaga Episode I - Loving this so far, haven't played a heavy Sci-Fi RPG like this in years.

Persona 3 FES - I didn't like any of the past SMT games, I'm still just beginning with this one but I like the style(aside from the bitch of a main char..)

.hack//G.U. Vol 3 - First time I beat this I rushed through the story and didn't spend any time on all the extra things so this time I'll be doing all that.

God of War - I never jumped in on this before because I was perfectly content with DMC, so far the game is pretty good, I love the setting.

Dropped FFX, I actually got pretty far in but eh I'd rather put all that time into all these new games I picked up.

amazing game!!!

the one bad thing I gotta say about it is sumtimes it is VERY hard to see the screen!

I got to the final level last nite and kept dying while trying to figure out the stage...

after work today I played once I got home, and since the sun is still out I couldnt make out anything and decided to stop once I lose all my lives...

lucky I ended up beating the stage thing instead!!

so... 3 games of the year for me: MGS4, Bionics Commando Remix, and Charles Barkley RPG

Beat Sonic Megamaix 3.0 with Shadow. Seems everyone can turn their super forms on and off. Sweetness. And Metallic Base is still the most annoying zone in the game.

Working my way through Mega Man Ultra. Quick Man's stage has no force beams but it's STILL a very hateful stage. I went through a couple of E-Tanks there. And I'm playing on Normal! Took me some time, but I finally got through Heat Man's stage. This is a really good MM hack.

I am now playing through Final Fantasy Tactics, and will start 1.3 when I'm done that.

What's this about 1.3? Is there a PSP patch or something? I haven't played the game for a while.

border down is ok, not great, not bad. just ok.
and it is pretty damn hard, I gave up on the second level. it reminds me of R-type, its a sidescroller, therefore I am allergic to it and it is unplayable.

yeah, Excelica is the hotness. I also recommend Mars Matrix and the always amazing Twinklestar Sprites.
Im making the general assumption that youve already played both of those btw.

HECK NO I didn't pay that much for it!! I simply burned the game to play it, and I enjoy it. But even the $279 price mark I don't intend on paying.

I have not played Mars Matrix or Twinklestar Sprites. I've only recently gotten into shmups, just to find out most of them cost more than PS3 games :shake: The last one I bought was Under Defeat, which is all around greatness.

Should be ok to link to since it only has the patch and not the iso. 1.3 is a completely rebalanced Final Fantasy Tactics and it is hard and awesome.

Interesting. Thanks for the links! I like little projects like this FFT one. I want to get involved in something like this...if one were to be done for Tactics Ogre, I want in. There are some serious balance issues with that game.

Warriors Orochi: I've decided to get everyone up to lvl99, and I love playing Chaos mode now. Guan Ping is his own tier of awesomeness..........streetsweeping soldiers left and right. C3 pwns almost everything.

However..........technique characters are the shit in this game, which is why my ultimate team for Chaos mode is Naoe Kanetsugu/Toyotomi Hideyoshi/Miyamoto Musashi

Def Jam: Fight for New York........IMO the best in the series. An improvement from Vendetta......and still light years better than Icon. I should've brought this to Evo for some casuals.

Bought OG Galaga from Xbox Live Arcade mainly because my sister likes it and I thought "What the hell? It's only 5 bucks." In less than an hour, I get 200/200 achievement points. So even though it's a rather bare-bones port of a 1981 game that's still relatively fun, it has extremely easy achievements that are impossible not to get. For that alone, it's worth something.

I'm still trying to A rank Chapter 1 in Ikaruga. I can B rank rather easily, but I tend to screw up my chains near the end (or I end up not having a big enough chain). I can imagine how difficult it will be to get high ranks in all of the other chapters.

Woohoo!

I just beat the FFT v1.3's--I'm not sure if I can link to the site since it's technically an emulator--Orbonne incarnate of Wiegraf while he had fucking Concentrate yet again due to the fact he doesn't have innate Maintenance (like he did in FFT 1.0 at this point? Or is that the Velius fight...?) and thus I was able to kamikaze steal his Defender (eventually). It also helped his harem was stupid enough to let me kill both of his offensive casters mid-charge with 288 Earth Slashs from across the board (which is convinently 9 squares across) AND that I had finally decided to get Armor Break on my Ninja (with two Main Gauches, Weapon Guard, and an Elf Mantle...not that it mattered against Concentrate and Speed Ruin) instead of trying for Kamitachi hax via (weak-ass) Elemental, which helped bring down Wiegraf and the Knight with Two Hand Counter. On top of that, since I had thankfully decided to train my only female as a Thief and I had my single Angel Ring (that I stole? Or did I just find it when one of the enemies boxed?) on her and my single--I should buy another--N-Kai Amulet/Armlet on the only male that got close to the other Knight, who apparently always has Steal secondary (stupid Steal Heart), that Knight was only really annoyance due to having a Defender (which I also stole) along with Concentrate and a Abandon.

...And yet, despite all that, this was the first fight were I didn't get "sandbagged", which is my only problem with patch so far besides the computer having (random) access to Elixir.

I'm just thankful the match with Wiegraf didn't turn into the fight with Izlude, which took five times as many tries and still took some luck due to Arrow Guard not giving me immunity from the cheating ass Archers AND making me vulnerable to the immortal female Lancers and "I basically have Auto-Regen now, lol" Izlude.

I miss Blade Grasp and its brokenness sometimes.

Anyway, I walked away with two stolen Defenders, yet another boxed Crystal Helmet, and yet another boxed Light Robe (which I don't think I'll ever wear).

Ugh. I wonder how end of Chapter 3 is going to go if I'm accidentally level 50 already. The rooftop is worrying more than Velius because how fast the Assassins, who can use Seal now, are and how stupid Rafa can be and the fact that Elmdor may have access to Chirijiraden by now. :wasted:

Probably. I don't think I've seen anyone else talk about it in this thread, but I hardly keep up with anything on SRK anymore.

Speaking of this patch, I am finally at the dreaded end of Chapter 3 and...let's just say that Wiegraf isn't looking good when he hits for 400+ AND has Speed Save on top of already being faster than me. I'll have to see if I can think of a set-up to beat him one on one, though I think my set-up would have worked if I had not been braindead about equipping Reflect Mail on my Knight Ramza with Time Magic Secondary--I had Haste 2 with Ramza, but it would have taken two turns as opposed to Haste 1's single turn.

Anyway, the matches before that were no less "winnable". Hell, I beat the front gate by chance since my Oracle got Frogged from the start and I then realized that I had no way of curing Frog.

Sigh.

If it wasn't for my single female unit having been an Archer with Steal Secondary and apparently beat Compatibility with two of the enemies (an enemy Lancer and an enemy Archer) and having Arrow Guard (except my Priest, who had Abandon with a Wizard Mantle) on everyone (not that Reaction Skills works when you're Frogged), then I probably wouldn't have been able to beat it at all due to how stupidly high leveled I am. (I'm like 55, which means Wiegraf AND Velius AND the Archaic Demons AND Elmdor AND two Assassins are going to be 60~...as well as the rest of the Zodiac Demons and fucking Balk and the Shrine Knights.)

Oh well, I'll just have to remember what set-up I had for next time.

With that said, I just want to comment on the added random encounters so far being rather fun and challenging. I had the pleasure of fighting "The Band of Grog Hill" where you have to fight two Bards, two Dancers, and two Mimes and I managed to get a Fairy Harp out of the deal after barely winning because Mimes apparently still aren't immune to being turned Undead, so the more troublesome one got Zombied and then Phoenix Downed. Mimes actually look incredibly useful now due to their innate status immunities since they block Don't Act, Petrify, Sleep, Poison, Stop, and possibly some other things; I've been trying to focus my training now so that everyone can get Mime shortly after Chapter 4 begins.

I think some of the aforementioned new fights might have glitches though.

One of the Bards that I had my Oracle Silence was able to still use Sing.

P.S. I managed to steal a Bracer from the front gates, so even though I lost out on the Ultimus Bow--stupid computer being an asshole about grabbing chests out of spite--from that encounter and have multiple (read: seven at the moment) save files, I'm really hoping I don't have to go back and buy something just to kill Wiegraf, especially since I spent 60000+ Gil buying things (read: 99 Hi-Ethers and other things) right before I went in.

Okay. The Wiegraf part of the Velius fight seems to be the more difficult part at this point and is seriously pissing me off just because of how much damage does compared to Velius and Crush Punch/Counter Flood retardedness--despite the fact that I just got instant-killed by Crush Punch before I could move in my lastest try, I've yet to be Petrified by Counter Flood...though now that I've said that, I doubtless will get Petrified before all is said in done.

At least with Velius, he doesn't Counter Flood the only thing I want to do to him before killing all the Ultima Demons: My female Archer's Slow Dance. So, at this point, due to the Archaic Demons having Lifebreak (and Wiegraf having broken-ass Shock for some retarded reason), Velius is actually the least dangerous at this point despite having the most damage potential and Seal (though he doesn't seem to use that until you kill all the Archiac Demons, like my third to last run, which I probably would have won if I either my Ninja had Punch Art still or my Knight didn't have Reflect Armor, which is fucking useless in this fight and yet the game keep auto-equipping me with it because it's the third-highest armor that I have.

Anyway, the real annoyance of this fight (and probably all the segmented fights in Chapter 4) is having to do set-ups EVERY goddamn time you lose. Now, I'm thankful that you get to chance to change your set-up at all, but it's still damn annoying to do it spend 5 minutes going over everything and then losing in less than a minute because Wiegraf is a cheating bastard.

Ergo, I'm just going to write down my set-ups so that I can look at my desktop while playing on my laptop:

Knight Ramza

Abilities:
Primary: Battle Skill (Mastered)
Secondary: Charge or Punch Art (probably the latter, as Charge is only theoritically useful against Wiegraf, who I probably only get to hit with Weapon Break before Damage Split kills him off; I have to buy Stigma Magic everytime I use it though)
Reaction: Damage Split (I don't know why I didn't think of this earlier since Wiegraf tends to fuck me over on 12% chances even without him having Concentrate)
Support: Two Swords (which I have to buy everytime from Ninja)
Movement: Move-HP Up

Equipment:
Right Hand: Rune Blade
Left Hand: Blood Sword (this needs to be left-handed so that when I break Wiegraf's weapon on the first swing, I get healed on the second swing for about 100+)
Helmet: Crystal Helmet
Armor: Crystal Mail
Accessory: Diamond Armlet (this should probably really be a Mantle or a Jade Armlet [why do I only have two of these things? Oh right, 10000 Gil price tag], but it prevents Wiegraf for fucking me over with 100% Speed Ruin)

Ninja Nathan

Abilities:
Primary: Throw (only have Shuriken, need to buy at least Axe and probably Spear and possibly Ball)
Secondary: White Magic or Punch Art (probably the latter since Ninja have shitty MP and Nathan has Punch Art mastered)
Reaction: Dragon Spirit (Nathan doesn't have Calculator open yet for some reason)
Support: Magic DefendUP (I need to buy it every time)
Movement: Move +3 (I think I've had this since the end of Chapter 2 due to him being a Bard and whoring Cheer Song in the Queklain fight)

Equipment:
Right Hand: Spell Edge (strongest Ninja Weapon I have at the moment, which I'm not supposed to have since it's available only in Chapter 4 store-wise, AND it adds Don't Act, which Archaic Demons are vulnerable to)
Left Hand: Zorlin Shape (the strongest Knife I have, which I'm also not supposed to have right now [thanks, enemies!], and which can add Sleep, which Archaic Demons are also vulnerable to)
Helmet: Thief Hat (also not supposed to have yet)
Armor: Earth Clothes (I think I got all my copies from enemies even before I could buy them in stores)
Accessory: Angel Ring (also not supposed to have yet; Kamikaze!)

At the moment, I just realized the other three are rather flexible and I should probably have switch the characters that are my Singing Priest and my would-be Throw Item, Defender-weilding Knight, both fof whom shoudl have Jade Armlet regardless. My Dancing Archer may not need to be an Archer, though perhaps she'll stay that way since once I break Velius down, I really need one or two people who can attack at a distance so that everyone doens't get owned by Clops. I'm really wishing that I was able to get that Ultimus Bow from outside the gates except that AI was such a dick about taking it. Ugh.

I may also have to have my Archer use Disillusion, which got for free from that "Band" battle, since Velius's Counter Flood still does 253 damage AFTER one Mind Ruin...which he can Counter Flood ON TOP OF ALL the panels giving him Carve Model, which can Petrify people regardless of how much I break him down.

...Dammit.

You are playing the patch version huh? lol I feel your pain. Yea that fight was pissing me off too...I actually wanted to break something. Counter flood is a fucking bitch!! and having crush punch randomly adding "dead" is fucking bs. I got sooo fuckin lucky killing velius. He literally wiped the whole team out (besides my samurai and ninja) I ended up killing him bc his dumbass started charging clops and my ninja ran up on him and i got a lucky critical hit. Everyones countdown was either "0" or "1" too.

BTW Ive been meaning to ask this for like 10 yrs but, HOW COME YOUR "DEAD" COUNTDOWN RANDOMLY STARTS AT "2" OR "1" SOMETIMES!!???

Im currently on the way to Elmdor. At the battle right before Limburry Castle But, im taking a break from FFT bc im playing Infinite Undiscovery.

Edit: just a little heads up...Bed Desert is fucking annoying as shit now. Oh and the fight on the rooftop after velius is fucking annoying too bc the AI for rafa is insane :bluu:

Ok now for Infinite Undiscovery. Uhh...im feeling mixed right now. I mean, i like the battle system (even tho its kinda slow and nothing compared to SO3) Its just really a bunch of little things that piss me off. Nothing big, but little sht like walking around HUGE landscapes, and the terrible VA. I know it might sound like whining but, this game isnt worth 60$. It shoulda been priced around 30-40 lol. Other than that..i kinda enjoy it. Im on the second disc right now (got to the second disc in 8 hrs :wtf:)

I thought that much after the demo Biggzy. Ready to Rumble has Facebreaker beaten in almost every aspect. We need a new R2R or a new Hajime No Ippo game. I love cartoonish boxing games, but Facebreaker just got so irritating.

i see you playing that quite often, hows the multiplay in it? is 4 player okay? as in the view?

and how is the story?

Camera for multiplayer is good (it doesn't screw you like Symphonia, but if you played Abyss it was good in that too).

I actually beat it earlier, I liked the story quite a bit. Wasn't as good as Abyss's storyline IMO, but still good. Now to build up stuff for my second playthrough.

Humans that kicked your farm-stable ass, you Gilgamesh-ripoff! I hope you get fucked in the ass by hillbillies for all eternity!

Slash slash! The Warlock is dead!

*dresses up as a Mime and re-enacts the past hour and a half*

Seriously, though. I hate using "epic" for anything, but the tension created by just the first half's bullshit was very close to it.

Speaking of the first half, I actually went with a newer set-up that I didn't think would work, especially if Wiegraf had Maintenance since you CANNOT overcome Shock at this high a level considering he needs to lose like 600+ HP and you have, at most, 560~ HP with the best armor unless you managed to get Mime 20 levels ago and leveled up in that the entire time.

I seriously had the devil's own luck when it came to guarding things this time again, which is somewhat ironic considering that I still had Damage Split but somewhat necessary given that Wiegraf double turns you every three turns.

Ugh. He and Izlude were such jackasses this time around. It's fitting that you see Izlude die right after him.

Anyway, before I got any further, I will give the set-up I ended using for all my characters--not that anyone cares:

Knight Ramza (Level 55):

- Equipment
Right Hand: Blood Sword (I'm SO glad I decided to steal this from Gafgarion; it was NECESSARY for this win at this high level)
Left Hand: Crystal Shield
Helmet: Crystal Helmet
Armor: Chameleon Robe (For those of you who play this, you're probably like "WTF?!" considering I had to give up 110 HP to wear this; I felt I needed this so that I wouldn't get screwed over by all the times Crush Punch managed to hit even though I only got automatically killed once in my 11 or 12 attempts and never managed to get Petrified [or Stopped] by Counter Flood)
Accessory: Diamond Armlet (These are a lot more useful in 1.3 due to the amount of Speed Ruining that gets thrown around, even though I still rarely use them)

- Abilities:
Primary: Battle Skill
Secondary: Punch Art (Got Repeating Fist and Stigma Magic before the fight this time; I only need Stigma Magic)
Reaction: Damage Split (better than any Reaction skill not named "Dragon Spirit" if you have the HP to take some hits, especially since the AI likes to use Concentrate on at least one of its units per battle)
Support Skill: Defend UP (I really don't know why I didn't think of it earlier, especially since it's the only reason that I didn't get OHKO'd from any of Wiegraf's attacks with a Chameleon Robe; initially, I thought that I need Magic Defend UP against his Sword Skills, but I should have thought of either of these options earlier, even though I had to buy Defend UP the couple of times I lost before I won)
Movement: Move +2 (purely accidental; I using Move-HP UP beforehand solely because I needed it, even with Defend UP, but at least with Defend UP [and Chakra and the fact that my Crystal Shield is apparently the incarnation of "Access Denied MOTHERFUCKER!!!" itself], I managed to get away with it and not get completely outdone by Wiegraf's bullshit movement of 6--Wiegraf also uses Move +2)

...And actually, I don't think the rest are necessary to really go over in detail since as I said earlier, the Wiegraf battle was the harder of the two since I knew that Velius could be broken down by Slow Dance if I just kept my female Archer with a Barrete and Angel Ring in one of the four corners--this is exactly what ended up happening, but more that a bit later.

That said, Wiegraf still took a bit of a luck between the Blood Sword, keeping my back to the wall and blocking pretty much 90% of his bullshit and having Damage Split go off pretty much every time for once because I KEPT GETTING HIT BY FUCKING SHOCK.

I swear. Every time he would use it at 39% from the front, I would get hit. And it doesn't help that Damage Split can't overcome it since hurting him just allows him to hurt you more. (Why does he have this retarded move now?!) Shock was pretty much the only reason that I realized Maintenance was ultimately worse than Concentrate (besides the fact that he tended to manage to hit me anyway, even with a Mantle and Abandon--it was hilarious getting Power Ruined twice at 11% and 9% and having both hit in succession).

But, yeah, using Power Ruin doesn't beat Shock and unfortunately using Magic Ruin--yes, Magic Ruin, the one that depletes MP, not Mind Ruin, the one that depletes MA--isn't as useful as it should because Wiegraf apparently has innate Move-MP UP.

Anyway, the only reason I beat Wiegraf this time was because of the Final Shock (for over 500 damage...when I have 443 life max) missing on one of the turns where he only got a single turn and then being able to get hit him in the face at 85% after he moved into the water, which sent him close enough to critical to end the match.

And then I witnessed the glitch that I forgot about: If you move into the water, then Ramza stays in his position instead of being forced to play "Hide and Seek" with Wiegraf. Thankfully, this glitch doesn't affect your game or else I would have been livid.

So, since this is getting ridiculously long already, I'll just summarize what happened with Velius:

Ninja Nate, the one described this time, also apparently had the luck of the Devil as giving him a Power Sleeve and Attack UP Support allowed him to OHKO the Archiac Demon close to Velius on the first turn with a critical hit, forcing Velius to kill my Ninja (who had an Angel Ring) with Clops, and then was albe to pretty much disable the weaker of last two other Archiac Demons with Don't Act.
My Archer basically used Slow Dance the entire time, except for time that she got close to Velius after getting killed by the other Demon's (who similarly got Don't Act IIRC after the other one got a Wave Fist in the back by the same Ninja) Lifebreak (which provided to be its last attack), in which she intentionally got killed by Velius's Counter Flood due to my forgetting she had Reraise on her still (I used Phoenix Down on her before she got her turn after she got Lifebreaked for 500+) and taking time out with my Singing Priest Kaplan to Raise 2 her. She got backed up with the Raise 2, Damage Split Clops (she had Magic Defend UP) back at Velius after he got Magic Ruined for fifth time, and proceeded to Disillusion before going back to Slow Dance. She had a weak-ass Lightning Bow the entire time because I figured if Bolt 2 went off, it would do more damage than just a Windslash Bow with her 69 Faith--I only attacked twice, so it's not like it really mattered.
My Singing Priest with Move +2 probably saved my ass more than once with Raise and Raise 2 and my decision to finally have him learn Angel Song in addition to Cheer Song, Battle Song, and Nameless Song. It's funny though, considering he has 58 Faith, the second lowest of my time. Spent the first half of the battle reviving and Cheer Song, the second third using Nameless Song, and then Battle Song for the rest of the match. He also prevented me from lossing to Loss (heh) like I thought I was going to for a while after reducing Velius MA by close to 20 by hitting my Item Knight in the fact with a mace, which allowed a Chain Reaction that allowd Ramza and my Ninja to get out of Confusion and get mad.
I don't think my Item Knight ever actually died more than once between Magic Defend UP and Jade Armlet. Ironically, Dragon Spirit never fired on him the one time he died or my Ninja, who died the most and who has 72 Brave, the 20 times he got hit.
Speaking of which, there was a time when I thought I was going to lose shortly after my Ninja got killed the second time since Ramza died resurrecting the Knight who died because Dragon Spirit didn't go off. My Ninja almost ended up crystalizing and I had to make a choice between resurrecting Ramza who could maybe get turn before Velius (doubtful) and resurrect the Ninja with his move and Revive, trying for a 90% Teleport that often fails me more than the chancier ones and just giving the Ninja a Phoenix Down point blank (which I had to do since the demons were smart enough to get in the way), OR killing the demon that the Ninja had crippled earlier before it Lifebreak anyone (which was tempting). Guess one which I did.
My Ninja ended literally killing the entire team, including Velius himself (who was also stupid enough to still charge Summons around me despite having his Speed and MA destroyed), double-handedly. Hell, even when he wasn't Charging, my Ninja was pretty much the only attacking Velius and still he was hitting for 500+ damage.
I never once got Petrified by Carve Model for some reason. Only Seal, which Velius seems to not like to use.

Hmm....

This is why I'm bad at using highlighters....

BTW Ive been meaning to ask this for like 10 yrs but, HOW COME YOUR "DEAD" COUNTDOWN RANDOMLY STARTS AT "2" OR "1" SOMETIMES!!???

That happens you get killed RIGHT before you turn comes up since the Countdown meter goes by when you would normally get turns. So there are times where you start at 2 or even 1 or 0 depending on how many high your Speed is, which is why Slow Dance will always better than Cheer Song.

The game has always done that.

Speaking of which, I seriously think Slow Dance is going to be how I end up beating all of the Zodiac beasts except for Altima (fucking Teleport 2) and maybe Hashmalum (because there's like nowhere to run on the ship considering he starts in the middle.

Well, enjoy the Silver Orge and his Blade Grasp and newfound access to Chirijaden. Just remember your 108 Gems; vampires are far too popular nowadays.

(This reminds me that I still need to learn Counter Magic....)

As for Bed Desert, meh, Balk's always been a pain the ass, but I think I already have enough pilfered Thief Hats that his Snipe skill shouldn't be a problem. Between finding someway to neutralize his gun (I forget if it's a Blast Gun or a "Glacier Gun"; I just remember it being something that can be neutralized unlike the "Blaze Gun") and getting rid of poison (which is more troublesome than usual because of it's much increased time--this reminds me that I have to actually have pretty much four people on my team learn to use Antidote), Balk will probably be the least troubling of his team, especially since this is an assassination mission and in the regular game, I managed to beat both incarnations of him with just a Solo Summoner despite his innate Defense UP.

Balk will be my bitch.

As for the rooftop, it's always been like that except that Rafa's AI seems smarter this time.

How do I know this? Well, between Archael7's videos and the fact that I did a test run of the roof after a brief celebration of Velius's death, I can see my killing the assassins really easily. Between that and the fact that Elmdor can't use Chirijaden in this encounter still and the Assassins apparently forgetting to equip Support Skills, I think it should take less 5 tries for me to beat the rooftop and complete Chapter 3.

After all, I just need someone to love.

P.S. What is Infinite Undiscovery?

I might have to be the first to say this, but I'm really starting to dislike Disgaea 3.

The new system they have in order to learn the final skills is total bullshit. You have to go into Class World up to the 10th and final floor, and destroy all the Geo Blocks to gain access to a Mystery Classroom. The NPC, the Old Battle Master, teaches you your final skills. There are two per weapon, with the exception of the staff. Now there is also another NPC that appears in the classroom, and he lets you increase the size of one of your clubs.

The process is easy enough. The thing that makes it bullshit though is the fact that you have about a 1/8 chance of seeing the NPC that teaches you the skills. I've only seen him once so far out of maybe 30 tries, and I accidentally bought the wrong skill. This is the one thing I cannot stand about this game so far, because it's totally random as to whether or not the Old Battle Master will appear. There's absolutely nothing you can do to alter your chances. You just have to accept the fact that it may take you 12 hours just to learn that one skill all because the freakin' NPC won't appear.

Grr

^ That sounds really shitty. I never played a Disgaea game, but that would beshitty for pretty much any game, much less an RPG.

Anyway, with regards to FFT v1.3, I will be brief for once--I mean that this time.

I pretty much beasted the rooftop on the first try since the Assassins tried to double-charge Ultima on my weakest character, my female character who had been turned into a Ninja with a Barrette and an Angel Ring, and so Celia (I think that's the purple one's name) got 2HKO (well, 4HKO technically) while charging by Teleporting Two-Swords Thief Ramza and Ninja Nate.

Really awkward how easy that fight was compared to the hell of even the generic battle at the gate.

Meh.

As for Chapter 4 so far, I just unlocked Mime for Ramza right after getting him to Level 60. I still have to unlock it for everyone else, but I look for to finally playing around with Mime--I never did in original version--and all that it can do; for the next match, I'm going to see what it can do with three Summoners and an Oracle as back up.

Other than unlocking Mime, I'm probably going to try and get Counter Magic and MagicDefendUP for everyone before I even bother with Dougola Pass. I don't need those skills for that--though there is a Calculator at Dougola now IIRC--and really don't need them until half through, when you fight Elmdor, but I figure it couldn't hurt to be a bit more defensive and not try and rely on getting hit so damage much (i.e. Dragon Spirit and Damage Split).

P.S. To those who are also playing or haved played v1.3, have the cutscreens where you're being narrated to--as opposed to the characters speaking--been screwing up really badly for you? ^^^Go see if there are patches or mods to fix those.

Anyway recently I've been playing a GOOD Capcom PC port.

Devil May Cry 4 is awesome on the PC and is really head and shoulders above the console versions (especially counting the Burst Mode). Too bad that this game will shy away Capcom from more good PC ports due to it selling bad because of their pathetic marketing.

Ferdinandz
09-09-2008, 05:59 PM
I did look, Capcom released no patches and it looks like no one even bothered making an unofficial patch/mod since the game is filled with other bugs as well.

Also, DMC4 PC was an amazing port though I didn't even know it was coming out on PC till like a day before it did. I wish DMC3's port was as good as 4.

Dencore
09-09-2008, 06:16 PM
^^^Yeah. Like I said Capcom really dropped the ball with the marketing. I mean the game isn't even available for digital download (something that makes up 70% of the PC Game sales). The only flaw I see with the port though is that rumble isn't available for non-360 game controls, not even patch. I really hope that Street Fighter IV does better on the PC, I really like this "trend" of console games ported to the PC's. I just hope that it doesn't fade away like when it was a trend during the late 90's.

EDIT - Good God WTF Devil May Cry 4 camera!

I'm on a huge Mega Man kick. Played through Mega Man II, the Game Boy game. Used to love it as a kid. Now I can see that it's the weakest of teh GB MM games. And it's way too easy. You can go through the whole game with the regular arm cannon and have no problems.

Now Mega Man III is still tight. Great renditions of the NES Mega Man tunes. Most annoying stage? Dust Man. Screw Dust Man. Screw Dust Man AND his stage. I died so many times going through that level. Seems like it just drags on and on. Dust Man himself is easy but by the time I get to him I'm so pissed off that I can't help but hate him, too. Trying to beatphoenix wright 1 for the millionth time I'm on the final case.

I'm also playing ratchet and clank future AKA the pinnacle of the platforming genre. I can't believe I've had this game since launch and waited until now to play it, this game is another reason why the best next gen games>most "oldschool classic games". Like a true platformer the level design is what stands out most it tiptoes the line between sandbox and linear so there is a lot to see but it's never overwhelming and you have a clear idea of what to do. Each planet is so well built simple running n jumping is fun especially when combined with the awesome gadgets most notably the swingshot and gelanator and the obstacles are always fun to overcome not frustrating. There are so many weapons in this game and every single one is so satisfying to use (shock ravager is my favorite) and even armed with 5690332843 weapons the enemy AI still puts up a decent challenge. All of this on top of gorgeous graphics and a ridiculously well colored art style it would be an insult to play it on anything less then a 42" HD 1080P screen.

Oh yeah and just picked up the orangebox last night, portal isn't as awesome as the hype IMO but it's still a great game I just can't play it for more then an hour at a time. TF2 is pure sex, the classes are as balanced as they are diverse (why can't we get a fighting game like this lol) and there is a great mix of twitch reflex action and deep team strategy:tup:

Oh, okay. That's nice to know. I'll try and look for information tomorrow.

***

Anyway, I was right about that 3 Summoner, 1 Oracle, 1 Mime team being fun AND instructive. I happened to get the Boss (?!) Archaic Demon battle at Grog Hill and since it was suspectible to quite a lot useful status effects (Don't Act, Berserk [no life break for you, bitch], Life Drain [not a status, but this isn't supposed to work on Bosses in v1.3; hell, it didn't even work on the Dark Knights that I fought in Yuguo Woods before I unlocked Mime for Ramza], Sleep, Stop, Don't Move, Silence, and probably Slow). So I was just allowed to mess around, especially since Golem still blocks the Demons for some reason--I guess it's because they can learn and use Martial Arts....

So far, I'm liking the new battles that were added for most part, though the boss ones are somewhat tedious time-wise, especially at higher levels (without greater damage set-ups or using special characters).

This is saying even after just giving up when I accidentally ran into that 11 Thief battle in Zeklaus Desert. Um...yeah. I'm going to try and beat their asses after I get Mime for everyone AND give all non-Mimes N-Kai Armlets and Maintenance (fucking Charm and Steal with innate Concentrate).

P.S. It goes to show that I indeed never used Mimes in the original game, if I ever unlocked them, considering that I wasn't aware of a lot of things, such as Mimes gaining levels from the actions that they mime, which I didn't notice in (or at least remember from) that "Band" battle on Grog Hill (ironically where I first used a Mime myself).

Due to that, my Ramza gained 5 levels and apparently gained at least another MA point. I'm going to probably switch out of Mime if gets to 68 next battle since I don't want to get to far past 70.

I first beat the game on Proud mode. It took well over 70 hours to finish, get things right, get used to the lack of translations and beat the 20 extra bosses.

The second time around I played on the Final Mix only Critical mode (max of 60 HP, enemies are more difficult top beat and many can kill you in one hit early in the game, even the shitty ones).

Critical Mode only took me about 40 hours and I fucking steamrolled through it. Not as tough as I thought it would be.

Namely continuous play which allows you to carry over weapons and such. I can see that being a BIG problem so is it really worth it to get all the golden scarabs if nothing carries over? Sounds like you can only take advantage of the rewards late in the game if that's the case. :|

I only beat the game once shortly after buying it earlier this year, so I don't remember much. The extra missions are more than enough reason to keep playing it, cheap as hell. Never played NGB, so I can't tell you anything about that.

Oh yeah, and I second that nomination to get Ratchet and Clank. That game is gdlk. Didn't like the ending, but the game is awesome.

God damn it. I keep running into the "end-game" Chapter 4 random encounters already. I've given up messing around with Bernevia since I ran into the battle with 6 Red Dragons and 5 Lancers (all with Flame Shields and Dragoner Secondary).

I just went down to Goug again to see if, by chance, there would be a new Gun or Crossbow, completely forgetting about the Goug cutscene where you first learn of Worker 8. Hunh. I've completely forgotten how to do that whole process at the moment.

Anyway, Mime is open for two more members of my party, due an old, easier battle in Araguay and then that Chapter 2 Ochu Boss of Zigolis Swamp...which ended up giving me 47 EXP per hit.

Ugh.

Now I have to be more careful with leveling up because I really want to be Adramelk before I get to Level 75 or, at least, Level 80.

Sonic Shuffle is the shittiest knockoff of Mario Party ever. And this is coming from a huge Sonic fan.

I just finished vesperia; this weekend I plan on beating halo 3 and getting a good start in eternal sonata...

Just started playing SMT: Nocturne. Under the radar controversy, here I come.

Enjoy. I loved that game to death, played the shit out of it and is the main reason why I am now a MegaTen fan. Which gets me thinking: Is Atlus going to release, or at least announce, a next-gen version of the series? That'd be fantastic.

I beat halo 1 and 2 and enjoyed them, so naturally I thought halo 3 would be awesome. I picked it up today and after playing for 1 or 2 hours I returned it. You do the math...

What was the problem with Halo 3? I've played all three Halos, and I'm not a Halo fan boy, but they all seemed about equal to me.

I don't play multi-player/online so for me it's all about the single player campaign. This one just didn't seem as interesting as the others...

You and me brother. The Persona series is killing it right now so it's more than likely that they'll release another SMT game. IT is their flagship series, right?

P.S.: Just about to fight Matador, so I'm learning fog breath. Stone gaze owns me.

SUPER EDIT: Somehow, someway, the young nurse in mourner's garb has to be Ms. Takao/some alternate Takao.

They just released Persona 4 not too long ago. I wouldn't be surprised if the Persona series branches off of the Megaten series similar to what the Secret of Mana series did (or at least I think that's what happened) due to its astounding success (Persona 4 is the best selling Megaten game of all-time not counting re-release (which belongs to Persona 3). I think that would not only be smart financially as well as better for the game series since Persona doesn't really combine perfectly with the Megaten designs.

With the next version of Shin Megami Tensei I'm not sure what route they would go. I know that you will call me crazy but I am in hope for a DS version because I always imagined that the system would marry the game design beautifully. Though in reality I think that the PS3, Wii, DS, or possibly PSP are all possibilities. I don't really expect it to top Nocturne though due to that designer already leaving. This is why Devil Summoner and Digital Devil Saga paled in comparison towards the numbered series when previously it was quite the opposite.

Halo1 had an incredibly well crafted campaign that was genuinely challenging and just plain fun especially the last level "the maw". Most campaigns on fps are average at best because it's an after thought as the multiplayer is where all the resources usually go and when you compare halo1 campaign to halo2/3 you can clearly see a difference.

The main gripe people have with halo3 is how retarded and inconsistent the melee system in halo3 is especially since both people can clock kill each other at the same time. I don't know which I like better because I both have their share of awesome and shitty maps.

I don't play multi-player/online so for me it's all about the single player campaign. This one just didn't seem as interesting as the others...

Then you're in the wrong genre lol. =P

Just finished ninja gaiden 2. I used the dragon sword for the first half of the game but as soon as I got the scythe it was over for any enemies. Trying to decide which game to get next for the 360...

I've done all of the stages that are on the game except for two of them. Both of them have levels that can't be completed without wall-hopping on those strange, gray platforms. Those things never react like I expect and there's always a mine right next to it. Hate it. Still loved the game though.

His sister is only slightly better due to her access to Crush Punch now.

Actually, she's probably a lot easier if you're not greedy for her Salty Rage like I was considering I pwned her both times I actually went for her instead of trying to kill everyone on her team like I always do. (I finally just got it, though I kept getting it on runs where I should have won and then didn't because I kept bringing Mimes who couldn't revive people, including one run where I got a Kikuchimonji from one of those bitch ninja/kunoichi. :shake: )

Too bad I HAVE to kill everyone on Finath River. Also too bad that I didn't get that Mythril Bow since I'm going to try have my Archer poach EVERYONE.

Damn, I'm so greedy.

P.S. For the first time ever, I saw an infinity symbol as a CT on Finath River when I looked to see how long my Dancer's Last Dance would take if I dared tried and use it.

Sigh...Nameless Dance takes 27 turns.

I think I'm going to have whore evasion set-ups.

Playing X-Com: Terror from the Deep. Didn't download the X-Com pack from steam even though $14 is a nice price. I already owned that game so downloading it online is legit right?

Have you ever tried any of those x-com "knockoffs" that have online modes so you can play with your friends?

GTA IV would be so much better if they didn't make you do useless shit like kill 200 pigeons in a gargantuan fucking world. I dont even mind doing the jump or driving around looking for them. It's just that one thing that kills GTAIV and all the other GTA games. A little guidance would be appreciated as well. Yeah I know of that whattheydonotwantyoutoknow.com thing but damn.

I've been playing a shit load of Soul Calibur IV on PS3. Finally got to level 20 to get the honor. My winning/losing ratio is something like 72.65%. This should not be the case since I suck ass at this game.

I got Death By Degrees for PS2 recently and only played like 10 minutes of it. I thought I was going to be in for a all action game but it seems a lot more adventure than action. It even had a Time Crises like sniper mini game which was cool. What funny is it says the game is made by Team Nina lol.
