I'm playing Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. The series has always been entertaining to me; good, but not great- something's a little boring about it sometimes. Still in the first city but getting far.

I'm playing Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike. I'm new to fighting games, and it looked popular and up to my standards. But it's tough.

I'm playing Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution. It's more entertaining than 3rd Strike- maybe it emulates fighting more realistically, or just that it's a more accessible fighter for newbs- and the training is good.

Been playing mad amounts off DOA2U and DOA3 lately. I love DOA now. Used to be a hater but going online got me into this series again. Fast, smooth, beatiful and fun DOA3 and DOA2U kick too much ass.

Right now, I'm playing Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny. That game slipped by me for the past couple years, so getting it for 10 bucks was the perfect opportunity. I swear Jubei Yagyu looks EXACTLY like one of the Yakuza guys in the movie "Black Rain".

That could be possible, since I think the Jubei Yagyu character (from Onimusha 2, not the history-based one) is portrayed so he can look like some famous Japanese actor (maybe he's the guy who appeared in that movie?)

Much love, X-Death, much love.

DBZ: B3 has been giving me a mix of joy and pain. Joy from the fun Duel mode and pain from the annoyance of unlocking Cell Jr., Supreme Kai, and the Cell Games Tourney. All this random crap just sucks. Speaking of randomness, the Skill Shop, while better than ever, is STILL too random. They just need to list every single skill and let you buy them whenever you want. I'm at 81% capsule completion and this random junk isn't helping. I know tiers haven't really been done for this game yet but Gohan is just too powerful when you access his Elder Kai Unlock skill (aka Gohan's Mystic abilities). I may actually like him better than Teen Gohan now.

I've gotten back into GTA: SA. Haven't really done any missions. Just driving around, killing Ballas and crack dealers. Killing crack dealers=good, good pocket change. Every time I waste one of these idiots, I get like $2000. So I'm getting lots of $$$ AND making the hood a better place.

I've almost completed SM64ds. Just have Rainbow Ride to go. Goddamn I hate collecting 100 coins on that level, though.

I also bought Metal Slug Advance. It's fun, but not as good as the arcade games. Playmore just can't handle these as well as SNK did.

Thank God for the IMDB! Jubei was made to look like "Yusaku Matsuda", a long dead Japanese actor (since 1989, just so happens, Black Rain was his last movie, and his only American debut).

If I can find a picture of Yusaku, I'll cut and paste it next to a Jubei screenshot.

Since I'm reading the Cell Games saga in the manga and watching the Cell Games saga on DVD, I thoguht I may as well play through it on the GBA. I'm playing through Legacy of Goku II again. Repetitive fun with good dialouge and sweet dub music. Trunks theme owns. Too bad the game didn't get all of Cell's themes.

k I just started Sonic Heroes, and so far, Im disappointed.

I played it a bit at E3 this year, and I really liked what I played.

But now that i have it, I'm disappointed in the many bugs that I have run into. I love the level design and the old school sonic feel of the game. but its buggy! and thats really inexcusable. Its almost as buggy as the Japanese version of Sonic adventure.

So its like half the time whe i play the game, Im amazed by the levels and the other half, im frustrated by por implementation.

Im not sure what to think yet. After I beat the game with at least one team, I will have a better idea.

I've been playing through Ratchet and Clank going commando through most of the weekend. I have to say its the best $20 I have ever spent imo. The game is longer than I expected and the action platformer is what I needed, especially after playing through 3 RPGs in a row.

I am currently going through the snow field planet(forgot the name) and am literaly going back to refill my ammunition after each initial encounter with 20+ snow bears and Leviathans. Is this normal?

One more thing, anyone have advice for getting more bolts? It seems like anything after 100k is just too damn much.

^Sonic Heroes...you'll have to beat the game with all teams to see the true finale....similar to Adventures.

I finally played DS at Target the other day...but only for about a second, cuz the holiday shopping crowd was insane, and I just wanted to get a top-up card for my phone and get the hell out of there ASAP. I have really low patience for big holiday shopping crowds. It's torture. But yeah...it seemed alright, though I've never really been crazy about the Metroid games.(*still haven't bought Prime or Prime 2, but I do plan to get 'em eventually..they're just not top priority with me.) The annoying thing is that they have the DS demo set so low! This also shortened my play-time....it was uncomfortable to bend over to see and play the game. It's like they only expected 4 year olds to play with the DS. I've never seen a demo set so low to the ground.

VJ2 -- bad news for Gen2000 or any VJ fans who don't have the game yet....it appears that there really are no secret characters! Of course there's more details on the VJ2 thread...basically, the guide is out now, and there is no mention of unlockable characters. All the guide has revealed is how to get all 37 Chambers, and that getting a "good grade"(good job on ambiguity there..) apparently unlocks Infinite VFX...."Super VJ mode" as they call it. So far I have 34 unlocked, and 33 of the chambers done.

Despite my better judgement regarding financial matters....I went ahead and got an Xbox thanks to a deal from a friend. So far, all I have is the supremely underrated Jet Set Radio Future though. I like the Jet Set/Grind games, and I saw it for only 6 bucks at Gamestop, so I couldn't resist.

Million, glad to see you got an Xbox. It really feels good to be able to have the ABILITY to play any game you see in a store, except for pc games of course.

Some other notables: Project Gotham 2 is fun, and I don't even like racing games. Crimson Skies, Otogi, Dead Or Alive beach volleyball, Star Wars KOTOR, Ghost Recon

bunch more good games for bargain prices to check out.

I had a bad feeling there were no unlockable characters cause the game was out for a while and I didn't see anything in the Codes & Secrets section at GameFAQs. With VJ1 (or any game for that matter) the unlockable characters were usually revealed a couple of days after its release date. That sucks, I don't understand how they have extra characters in the first game and then just take them away in the next one. Especially Alastor who was somewhat of a fan favorite in the original game. Bleh.

Btw I don't read that VJ2 thread cause I'm sure it contains spoilers and I still plan on getting the game, just not anytime soon since Alastor isn't unlockable.

heh, VJ2 already dropped in price. I saw it mentioned over at Gamefaqs, and then saw it for myself in a Walmart ad this past Sunday...it is now 29.99....at least that's what I saw for the GC version. The sales probably aren't up to what Capcom was expecting...and I think it was not really a good time to release it anyway...there's tons of good games coming out all in the past month. VJ2 was bound to be hurt sales-wise at least a little bit by that.

Storywise it should be pretty obvious what's going to happen when you see even the first couple of cinemas....but it was still enjoyable to see thru to the end....and we're guaranteed to get a part 3....hopefully the extra characters will appear in that.

*I want one of those Ataris with the pre-loaded games...they have SOLARIS!!! Crystal Castles!! And Millipede!!!! Millipede was better than Centipede.

$29.99 already? I might pick it tomorrow then. After looking how "well" VJ1 on the PS2 did (even with Dante thrown in), I don't think Capcom expects much out of the series except to please the fans of the series and finish on a good note like the Onimusha series.

Okay, I figured those two would be the only two ways of getting bolts faster.

When I first went out there in the field, I got mauled to death quite a bit, but now I am using the electo shield as well as the meteor gun to make it a lot easier.

Speaking of which... did you find the lava gun upgrade disapointing? Man when I first thought of it, I thought it was going to be sweet with lava oozing all over the place destroying everything surrounding me, but you these stupid ass rocks from a ghetto homemade cannon that shoots at a crappy rate. With the lock on and acid effect mods, its the gun I usually use now, but still, the visuals and effectiveness downgraded.

the lava gun was one of the few terrible weapons.
you'll be happy to know that in R&C 3 they bring it back but they keep the lava stream, and it ugrades to something like a liquid nitrogen stream that freezes your enemies.

I went over to my co-worker Brandon's apartment today. We talk games A LOT when we're at work and we'd been planing to hang out for like a while now. He's also as old-school as they come. I was surprised to see an NES Advantage and and an NES four player adaptor.

Anyway, he showed me Guilty Gear X2. That game is just so raw. I have to find a copy now. Then again, maybe I should just sit down wioth my PS2 GGX and get around to playing that first.

I showed him DBZ: B3 and he was blown away. All he did was watch me play and we watched the COM vs. COM matches on the highest setting. That stuff was intense. My custom Omega Shenron mopped the floor with my custom Broly. Broly kept getting his ultimates to hit in every figh but Omega Shenron just kept overpowering him. Goku got his butt handed to him even with the capsule equipped to fuse and become SS2 Gogeta. He never even got the chance to fuse because OS kept smacking him up.

Brandon also showed me his skills at Ikaruga. I can't believe how good this guy is. He actually made it through the 3rd stage boss without dying. :wow:

We also got in some Gradius V. Brandon liked that game but man, did it really tick him off. Dude was shouting expletives like FFVII's Cid. And he hated stage 6. You know, the stage with that green gass?

GV is a great game for fueling the gaming Rage. The green goo stage is, if anything, a lesson in pattern memorization. That, and a lesson in Use the Directional Option. I've more or less got it sorted out so that I'll never die more than once. As for level 7... *shudder*

Just unlocked Z difficulty on DBZ: Budokai 3. Eassiest way to do it: beat DU mode with Yamcha. Only 3 fights or so. Didn't lose a single match. Thank you Viral Heart Disease and Vaccine.

Lately, in GTA: SA I've had a "screw it" mind set about the missions. I just like to drive around the state beat fools up and take their cash and weapons. The only time I do anything productive is when Ceaser calls me and tells me to chase some random idiot down and take his goods. I get cash for stealing the stuff and even more cash for capping the poor dope that was unfortunat enough to be caught by me. I got $1998 last time I did it.

Rundown of my week in gaming:
>Bought Tetris Attack for SNES used. The puzzle mode got me mad and laughing at the same time. Mixed thoughts like that are so hilarious.

>Bought Metal Gear Solid 1 (PS1) non greatest hits for 8 bucks. It was used, but was in good shape like anyone hardly played the copy.

>Went back to play Mega Man 7 on SNES from beginning to end, and CRUSHED it in a blur. Timed everything perfectly on getting the Rush Adapter to Protoman's shield and all other secrets just in time before Dr. Wily's Castle.

>I traded in my Capcom Fighting Evolution to get a PS2 strategy RPG, for a little while I was torn between Disgaea or LaPucelle Tactics. I chose LaPucelle cuz it's cheaper.

Right now I'm deciding between picking up Spider-Man 2 for the PS2 or Alien Hominid for PS2. I love old-school gaming but after seeing Spidey 2 a few weeks ago, I REALLy want to do some web-slinging. That and the price dropped to $20 on Spidey 2. (Sigh) Decisions, decisions.

man, Walmart was rediculous today. I don't see how people can stand working there during the holidays....but hey, I'd work there too right now...thanks to a deep level of desparation. Pay attention to the new sig: Don't major in art. Don't end up like me.

-VJ2 = 35 out of 35 so far on the Chambers. I finally beat #31.
I never used iMovie on this comp, so I erased it and freed up some new HD space....relevance? More space for videogame tracks on my iTunes. The fresh goods:
1. Better quality version of "This Machine" from Sonic Heroes
2. Viewtiful Joe 2 --..hmm..avoiding the spoiler***""The Emperor Revealed!" theme. ends with "And now...for the darkest hour..." It's easily one of the coolest moments in the game. Damn tha Capcom for leaving out secret characters!!! As soon as I saw "The Emperor" for the first time in the cinemas and in the final showdown....I immediately began thinking of just how cool it would be if he was playable...along with Miss Rachel(for the Silvia part of the team up)

3. Viewtiful Joe 1 -final showdown---I recorded myself fighting...well...it's not really a spoiler anymore since part 2 is out.....The Captain. I also realized that punching him in the back really gets him hung up for awhile taking damage....I counted about 11 SlowZoom punches there before he did anything about it. And...it ended up as a Rainbow V. I also recorded a bit of Blue's cinema scenes, and then reversed those segments in SoundEdit to hear what's really going on. It's funny, when Blue and Goldie(?) jump up at the end, he's saying "Captain Blue Kick!", while Silvia is saying "Super Blue Kick-ia" ?? It's funny....then it goes "What?" huaaahy!"..."Joe." It goes on of course, but that's where I cut it.

4. better quality VJ1 intro.
5. VJ 1 results screen music. Up next is some boss music of course. The problem is that the bosses will make the occasional noises over that cool music. The plan is to play as Blue of course, and hover way at the top where they can't hit me. This may be a problem on Another Joe...as his clones could probably still reach me up there. This would all be much more convenient if there were a simple sound/bgm test thing in the options.

What sort of glitches are you talking about, a-chan? The only problems I had with the game glitch-wise was the Homing Attack can be picky somtimes and that the rail skipping still has the same problems as in SA2.

And the bonus stages. Just to warn you, the bonus stages are insanely glitchy, with stuff like characters running backwards, getting caught on pipe joints, and the like. Get the Chaos Emeralds and never go there again.

In other news, I purchased and beat Wario World last week. Very fun, but very, very short game. I've also completed Super Mario 64 DS with all 150 stars and all 28 mini-game keys. It's kinda funny how easy the character differentials make some of the stars this time compared to on the original. Some of the new stars are pretty cool, too.

I just learned from EGM(got it today) that there are new powers in Super Mario64 DS...but they only mentioned mario blimping up, and I guess Yoshi throws eggs?....what is Wario's ability?

And yeah, I still want to get Wario World. Best Buy had it on demo a long time ago, and I remember it was a damn fun first impression....but the complaints on the net are all the same: too short. Still, it seems like a fun game to replay just to beat up the enemies over and over again. IMO, Nintendo created a character here that upstages their #1 guy by a long shot. New Wario game vs. New Mario game? I'll take Wario anyday. He's just too cool.

I just learned from EGM(got it today) that there are new powers in Super Mario64 DS...but they only mentioned mario blimping up, and I guess Yoshi throws eggs?....what is Wario's ability? The moveset is like this:
Mario:
Average speed, jumping height, and power
Can use the Wing Cap
Can bloat up like the P-Balloon power-up
Can do the wall kick-jump
Only character who can enter the final Bowser level
First unlockable character

Yoshi:
No power and low speed, average jumping height
Can get a temporary flamethrower-like ability
Short-ranged tongue attack rather than punches
Can spit enemies as weapons, and turn them into eggs and throw them
Can do a short hover jump
Cannot kill the Boo enemies
Starting character

Luigi:
Low power, high speed and jump height
Takes extra damage from hits
Can use the Transparency Cap
Has a sort of flutter slow-decent, and an even slower helicopter decent from backflips
Can run on water (Sadly, this isn't actually useful anywhere, but it's cool)
Second unlockable character

Wario:
High power, low speed and jump height
Takes reduced damage from hits
Can use the Heavy Metal Cap
Can punch some enemies to death that other characters have to "dizzy" to kill
Can use wrestling moves on the opponents in multiplayer
Last unlockable character

There is also a new power-up. Super Mushrooms can be found from time to time, which cause your character to grow extra large and grant invulnerability for a short time. Each level has one new star, and there are several other new stars hidden here and there throughout the game. Each of the Mario Bros. is unlocked by defeating a new boss in a new course for each of them. You have to defeat a giant Goomba to unlock Mario, King Boo to unlock Luigi, and a giant Ice Bully to unlock Wario.

^thanks for the info...

whoa..looks like Rogue Agent didn't turn out so well, at least from this review in EGM. Apparently it's too much like Goldeneye....which is a problem since that game is now "old". You can't even jump.

Now that I have Xbox....I think Otogi 1 and 2 are probably priority, since they aren't popular and are probably in danger of disappearing from the fabric of reality soon.

According to some things I've read on the Gamefaqs boards....the Midway Arcade Treasures 2 apparently sucks. I keep seeing commentary that Midway did a really half-ass job on most of the good games there...and apparently emulation isn't quite as accurate as a port(?)...one game(I think Pit Fighter) is sped up, and there are glaring inaccuracies in the other games as well. That sucks....when it's nostalgia time....the shit has to be PERFECT for me. On today's systems...there's simply no excuse for something from previous generations to not be arcade-perfect.

EDIT*---Viewtiful Joe 3 speculation: Final boss of the trilogy --something to do with Charles the 3rd? I won't give away part 2's ending, but something specific happens that is kinda leading me to that guess...and there's the small factor of just the name "Charles the 3rd"...or perhaps it could be a relative of Charles the 3rd, etc. Just some crazy rumors/speculation from me.

I've been playing FFX-2 and San Andreas.

In X-2, i'm currently trying to get the last 19% of completion points, and I just reached the 81st floor of Via Infinito. I fucked up Chac with tripple Gunners. I've gone through the 5 chapters twice already. I still need to get the Trainer and Mascot spheres and master all the other ones. It's funny, this game got me playing RPGs again, cause I find the battle system to be addictive. Last thing I was doing on the game was raising chocobos.

As for San Andreas, the last mission I did was where CJ burglarized some cat for crates of weapons. My CJ looks like he came straight out of New Edition, or some shit. Looking like he Bobby Brown or somebody. Got the "gumby" haircut(that's what we called it back in the day, I forgot what it's called on SA).

When I come back up to Maryland tomorrow morning, I'm gonna start playing that Star Ocean: Till the end of Time. Has anyone played it, and is it any good?

I just finished the game and got the perfect ending (100%) on Sunday. The game was fun. I wasn't crazy about the story, but the gameplay and new systems were cool. I didn't master every job (only Dark Knight, Lady Luck, Warrior and Gunner, with each character specializing in either alchemy, thief, white, black and samurai). Chac (even oversouled) is easy with three gunners (one having catnip and speed bracer). Watch out for the last two bosses in Via Infinito. The first boss can be killed in two turns with a gunner w speed bracer/catnip, but the old fart is gangsta. Remember to use magic spring and heal/revive/dispel like a demon as he can stop characters and casts meteor (so the gunner will definitely die). If you need help, I'll glad to help.

I'm currently playing Silent Hill 3 and will probably start MGS 3 afterword.

Million definitely cop Halo, Halo 2 and Ninja Gaiden. I believe you don't have a PS2 (maybe I'm wrong), so definitely pick up Street Fighter Anniversary, GTA double pack and GTA San Andreas.

Yeah the story isnt anything to talk about, but the battle system and game play really IS addictive.
When I beat Chac, I wasn't using the Gunner/catnip/speed bracer combination, Rikku just had a speed bracer and the other 2 had sprint shoes and the key to success. I was only dealing about 1000(something around there) damage each bullet, but I just fired away repeatedly for about 3 mins straight and it fell. It didn't get a turn, if it did I would have died.

As for those last 2 bosses waiting down there, I haven't even attempted yet, because fuckin Mega Tonbarry is trouble. I'm gonna start going Gunner-catnip on that bitch. I had spent the last 40 floors dodging that fool.

Are there any other cool combinations like the Gunner-catnip?

EDIT: Btw, for Yuna I mastered: Gunner, White Mage, Lady Luck, Warrior, Dark Knight, Berserker, Samurai and Thief
Rikku: Thief, White Mage, Black Mage, Gunner, Dark Knight, Lady Luck
Paine: Warrior, Dark Knight, Black Mage, Samurai, Alchemist, Berserker, Gunner

Dag I can't remember the rest. I had a couple more mastered with Rikku and Paine, but cant remember.

I didn't like Ninja Gaiden very much, for one simple reason. Despite all the cool weapons, excellent graphics, great platforming sections, and nifty spells you get, the combat system sucked IMO. You have to block way too much, and often end up resorting to the use of one move over and over again in a fight, mostly the run-up-the-wall-and-dive-bomb and the jumping flash forward slash (Don't know names, sorry).

Oh, and I finally finished Viewtiful Joe 2 about 10 minutes ago. I really didn't like Joe 2 nearly as much as the original. The bosses are especially not as fun, and the writing is noticably inferior. I'd give VJ a 10/10, but VJ2 a mere 7/10. I don't even think I'll bother with the other difficulties and such on 2, especially since there are no extra characters like in 1.

How true, all I do is the jumping forward diving slash thing and I roll around like a spaz. But I enjoyed it, it is hard, fun, and something fresh. I actually wanted to keep playing and beat the game, even though I got to the stupid fire dragon and just quit for a long time.

I need to get KOTOR 2, I hope it's just as awesome as one. I should go check some reviews out.

My friend has Ninja Gaiden...it made a really good 1st impression on me, so that's definitely on my list...and Halo 1 and 2 were the main reasons I wanted Xbox in the first place. MS should go back to making the special Halo edition Xboxes....few people care about the current pack-in games, and without Halo 1, the system would've been struggling at the #3 spot at best. They should recognize that Halo was their lord and saviour in the beginning.

Remy...yep, there's no real reason to beat the other difficulties in VJ2, other than the mere satisfaction of having gone thru everything, unless certain Chambers only open with things done in UV or whatever. If Capcom/Clover would've just put in the unlockable characters like everyone was expecting, I personally would've rated this game even higher than the first one.

*I played VJ1 tonight just to test something....and yeah...I don't have to deal with sound effects when recording the music! Just as I thought, the music still plays when you pause the game...just at a lowered volume. This is perfect....I can just pause and record any track on the game with no sound effects in the way....I'll just have to bump the sound up to compensate. I'll get the theme for when you fight Black on part 2 as well....it's another one of the more memorable vj tracks.

Ninja Gaiden, for me, was controller slammingly hard. I am definitley not a defensively minded person, I really do just like to charge in and cause a ruckus (proof is in my halo 2 scores, most kills, but also most deaths :( )

I would definitley like to get a halo special edition Xbox, since im running on a modded xbox now for live. If I get banned, I'm just gonna buy another box, and it might as well be something special 8)

I've been playing Street Fighter EX 2 Plus for the past month or so.

I have no idea why, since I can't stand that game most of the time. It's either too easy on Normal (with the exception of Shin Bison, fucking bastard) or too fucked up on Hard (the computer either becomes psychic and blitzes me or turtles the entire fucking match. Thankfully, this only applies to be some character, since the select few that I can still beat regularly, like Area, Nanase, Guile (for some reason), Ryu, Ken, and Skullo, are rather stupid in their aggressiveness. It doesn't help that all computer opponents do more damage and take less too). I have no idea why I even got back into the game, probably because it was one of my off SSBM days, since I've been so damned bored and tired lately.

I think I'm finally going to stop playing that and getting around to playing and finishing this borrowed Front Mission 3 that someone from school lent me quite a while ago.

Also, I bought a really cheap copy of Final Fantasy IX from Blockbuster today since it's one of the few Final Fantasies I don't own and I've played it before, just never finished it; I don't really finish a lot of my RPGs, though I've been getting better about that since I started high school. Anyway, I am the only person that likes that game (and yes, I know about the random-ass Necron as final boss thing)?

I've been playing ESPN NBA 2k5 for PS2 for 2 months, basically. That, and ESPN NFL 2k5. Why? They're the only two games I have right now. I *do* have Guilty Gear X, but it's scratched and doesn't work. I'm beginning to find that I like the ESPN football and basketball series better than the EA Sports games... It's a shame after this year there's only gonna be Madden football.

I spotted Metal Slug Advance for $22.50 at Best Buy. I've never played a MS game but I've read about them and they sound pretty fun. I also found Front Mission 4 for $14.99. I was shocked. I loved FM3 and to see FM4 for only $15 and only two copies left, wellm I had to jump on that. I had only planned on buying one game but I walked aout with two.

I'm still playing DBZ: Budokai 3. I put the Meditation capsule on Teen Gohan and MAN!! That made a huge difference with his ki use. I can teleport like made and perform death moves like crazy. Sprawlers was right: Meditation is well worth the 3 slots it costs to equip.

SNIP

Your best bet against Mega Tonberry and the last two bosses in Via Infinito are gunner with catnip/speed bracer. Any of these enemies (plus this one enemy on the later floor, think it's a turtle or something) will flat out kill your characters in a few turns. The catnip will kill the first boss in two turns (which will probably leave all three in red thanks to that one spell he casts), the last boss takes a million damage, so 1000 damage isn't going to cut and Mega Tonberry can be killed in one turn with catnip.

Also catnip/speed bracer helps on the last stage. You don't have to waste your time doing those stupid piano puzzles, just fight the stupid boss that will die in one round from catnip (pretty broken technique item, eh).

As far as mastering jobs go, I didn't bother, since I have like over 50 games I haven't finished and could be devoted to completing.

And Ninja Gaiden was cool because it was difficult. It wasn't a mash fest, which you could just breeze through. Yeah, there were a couple of cheap moves, but it didn't work in every situation.

The Box version of 3 is a bit weaker than the arcade version, because they won't let you continue mid-mission. You run out of lives, you have to go back to the beginning of the level.

Playmore in general hasn't handled the Slug series that well, though. SNK's last Slug game, 3, introduced a really cool new multi-path level layout, and Playmore just turned their backs on it and went linear again in 4. Playmore also insists on intruducing new playable characters, which would be okay except that they always remove classic characters from the roster to add in the new ones. Playmore even fucked up the console translation of 3 (see above).

I'm with ya on this boat... FF9 had a lot of problems, but not one of them stopped it from being a great, fun game. A little cliched at times, but I enjoyed almost all of it. Love the skill system, too.
Necron didn't bother me at all, really... It seemed like a total FF thing to do. Just like Zeromus.

As for me, I'm playing Beyond Good and Evil again. It's still fucking great, only this time it's actually a challenge, 'cos I'm limiting my supply of PA1s, Starkos, and K-bups. Great, great goddamn game.

Being an MK fan I had high hopes for MAT2 (not so much for MK2 and MK3, but hopes that they would have included UMK3, the best MK ever.) Not only did they not include UMK3 but they butchered MK2 & MK3 (they are not "arcade perfect.") Now when MAT3 comes out and UMK3 is listed as a guaranteed/potential game I don't know if I should be happy or angry (cuz I know they'll fuck up the port somehow.) Sloppy ass Midway.

I can't speak much for the other games...is it just me or does Primal Rage feel a tad faster? (I used to like it back in the day; I think it was a transition game, for me, but I thought it was fun)

Anywayz I have yet to finish Disgaea, after that I want to step back in time and actually start ---> finish Dragon Warrior VII for the PS1 (I started the game a few times, but always moved onto something else.)

After that I have LaPucelle Tactics *and* Phantom Brave... :wow:

I'm still playing Persona 2: Eternal Punishment atm. I'm at the 2nd to the last level and just mastering my Persona's. I've been trying to go back and beat games that I had never beaten (finished Dragon Warrior 7 before it) and the fact seeing my brother play Nocturne made me want to go back and start the game up from scratch.

From what I saw of Nocturne and from what he told me about it....the game is really good. No quarrels with the gameplay and the graphics are unbelievealbly good. Music is well-done as well. Then again though, I'm a huge Persona/Megami Tensei fan.

As for Digital Devil Saga....I suggest to anyone who is a fan of the series to pick it up asap. Not because it's a must have right now game, because we as customers owe it to Atlus to pick it up at regular price....and here's why:

Digital Devil Saga Box Set:

-Digital Devil Saga 2
-Artbook
-Soundtracks

ALL of that....for $54.99. You cannot go wrong with that. Atlus has gone well out of their way to package such a great thing together that anyone who will want to get the game should get it when it comes out. That's way too good of a deal.

Also, anyone that has kept up on recent gaming news knows that Atlus USA is going to publish Stella Deus, and Atlus of Japan product. The game looks....damn.....good. It's a Strategy/RPG, check it out: http://www.gamesarefun.com/news.php?newsid=4052

All that sounds cool but I could never get into rpgs with the exception of SoA on DC. Stella looks pretty cool espicially the box art, but I don't think these games are my bag. From a gameplay standpoint, they just don't hold my intrest. I bought Disgaia(sp?) when it first came out and wanted to like it 'cuz the characters just caught my eye and the game seemed pretty funny storywise. If there is one thing I do like rpgs it's the characer designs and style. I've wanted to try Persona so many times but I know I wouldn't play it that much (like what happened with Disgaia). Maybe I'll turn over a new leaf one of these days.

If Capcom/Clover would've just put in the unlockable characters like everyone was expecting, I personally would've rated this game even higher than the first one. See, I don't really agree. The lack of secret characters is a really bad thing, and part of what kills it for me. But there are several other reasons that I don't like 2 as much as the first. While some of the new enemies are cool (I especially like the Grim Reaper-like guys), a lot of them just suck to fight. The little spiders that the aliens throw out make the aliens irritating pests, the nurses are really frustrating compared to Rosettas, and I really hate those electro-shield mother fuckers. The thing is that a lot of these new enemies don't have set patterns to take them out. For instance, Rosettas vs. Nurses: Rosettas could be defeated by Slow Punch x2, SlowZ-RHOH. Nurses, the best I could manage was SlowZ-RHOH until a Rock On started, then try to combo as much as possible against a wall. Another big complaint I had was in the bosses. A lot of them run away like little pansies all the time, especially Frost Tiger and, to avoid spoilers, the final boss. Also, while the overall story was okay, the script just wasn't as witty or humorous as in the first game. I also really hated the shit with Miss Bloody Rachel, which was just hokey and totally unbelievable.

Don't get me wrong, all in all VJ2 was a decent game. I especially like some of the new puzzles involving Replay. But there are just some things about it that, when compared to the original, don't stack up IMO.

About secret teams for VJ3, I had some ideas:
Captain Blue/Ivory: Might be cool to see Blue and his wife together.
Alastor the Styish/Jet Black: Pairing the two anti-heroes of the series together. I also think that you could do some cool mix-n-match of powers with this team. Have Al keep Roundtrip (Voomerangs) and get the new throw move, but have Replay to go with his electricity magic. Meanwhile, Jet gets the guns and bombs, but Mach Speed. Also, let them use their swords more. Al didn't swing his sword enough in the original.

VJ2-----ah yes...the comedy wasn't quite up to par...but the enemies are still good, imo...actually, they're probably a step above the enemies from part 1. Nurses were particularly interesting ideas...but they can easily be taken care of with Dragon kick...1 or 2 of those knocks an aura off, which dizzies them. My complaint regarding this, however...is more of a technical issue from the game itself: Whenever nurses get "RockOned" it's time for some un-natural Slowdown  It's 1 or both of the following things here:
1. VJ2 was made with Ps2 in mind as well, and any multiplatform release has to be made based off the techspec.s of the lowest common denominator = ps2.
2. On top of this^...they bumped up the detail of the graphics on just about all small details, like crosshairs, item boxes, blue/red bottles, even the rainbow V graphics! Stupid decision, imo....this wasn't even necessary. You don't really notice the small graphical things in VJ enough for it to matter. The action is too frantic to focus on those things for more than half a second.
Laser Shielders --destroyed by Voomerangs, Silvia's shots, or simple red hot kicks.

Overall, I love the whole thing with Miss Bloody Rachel...I'm just disappointed that she isn't playable, just like the last boss. Also, the fact that you can save between each stage with her hurts the difficulty of what was apparently supposed to be another Mag 5 situation.

There are quite a few small flaws with this game....but I think the presence of playable bonus characters would've made a huge difference...making it equal or even better than the first game.

I just started playing Tales of Symphonia a couple days ago. Its pretty fun, but I'm not a big fan of rpgs with "action-style" fights like Star Ocean, as opposed to traditional turn-based fights. There seems to be less strategy involved when you're mashing on attack and your other 3 party members are controlled by the AI.

Which reminds me- Grandia II still had the best battle system ever. Half action, half turn-based, lots of strategy involved. Anyone know if they made [or are making] a sequel to this game? I know they ported it to PS2, but iirc it was a terrible port.

I played around a bit more with Metroid on NintenDS the other day at a Target. I could get into that...at least as long as those controls can be changed. Perhaps when it drops to 100(by which time I'll have money...one way or another, dammit. I wouldn't care if people had to die.) then I could consider getting one. Besides, it's getting a Viewtiful Joe game....so I must have it eventually. One chat-program "game" for it got the lowest scores EVER in the current EGM. It was funny...ah yes..."Ping Pals". They gave it a 1.5, 0.0, and 0.0! This has to be the lowest ever, cuz I think it even beats out that Mortal Kombat game for GBA about 2 years ago. It's a new level of lame..a new bottom-of-the-barrel...at least according to the reviewers at EGM.

I haven't played anything in a long time(several days) now....hey, they still have that "Ultimate Gaming Rig!" contest in EGM...

*Dark Samus looks cool....too bad you can't play as her in Metroid Prime2, apparently.

It's a new level of lame..a new bottom-of-the-barrel...at least according to the reviewers at EGM.You know that there's a new side-scrolling Mario coming out for that? Also a new Sonic, which I first thought was full 3D but is also apparently going to be side-scrolling.

Those are the reasons that I already bought a DS.

The Metroid demo comes with the DS, and there are other control setups for that game. But IMO they all stink. All of them require the use of the touch screen in some way. That's actually probably my one dissappointment about the DS. They're kinda over-hyping the touch screen. Sometimes I think it actually gets in the way, though. On 64 DS, you have to use the TS to make menu selections. "CONTINUE", "SAVE & CONTINUE", "SAVE & QUIT" options after collecting each star. I'd rather be ale to just use the buttons to make the selection and keep playing. Instead I have to pull out the stylus, click the choice, put the stylus back.

All in all, though, the DS rocks. It's a really nice hand-held.

I just played Tekken 5 at the arcade for a lil while and I really want to learn how to play.

I like being Steve Fox, and it just seems like Namco really tried to make this Tekken good. The stage with the feathers is AMAZING.

I still don't really like how 3D fighters feel, but it's still fun.

I got the KH gba game today too, it seems really good from what I've played. It will keep me busy on my christmas trip to my grandmas.

No other games are looking all interesting to me right now. I guess I won't get a new game until DMC 3 comes out. ( and RE 4 )

I still have to play Metroid Prime, Snake Eater, Baiten Kaitos, and Gradius 5.

Seeing how I have 4 weeks off from College, and my girlfriend went to visit her Dad for 11 days ( she's always distracting me with that sex crap, DAMN HER ) I have plenty of time to catch up on my video gaming.

so how was Budokai 2 compared to DBZB3? Did part 2 suck like the first one....what are the differences besides the more appropriate cel-shading(cel shade polys > regular polygons hard when it comes to cartoonish characters.)? This is on my mind suddenly since the poor GC gamers...we FINALLY got Budokai 2 recently, and I'm not sure I can wait the YEAR it will take to get B3.*

*yep...I found that out on another browse thru Gamefaqs boards. Apparently there is actually a full year exclusivity deal between Atari and Sony on these DBZ Budokai games.

In other news....I know you can't really trust what a Gamestop employee says half the time...but I overheard one telling a random customer that the new slim ps2s don't have a fan! Is this true?! It can't be, right? There's just no way....that's too half-ass.... even for Sony standards...

VJ2---I will resume playing sometime today...and go for the 3 overall D rankings to unlock chamber #37. I'm not sure if they mean 3 Ds within a stage....or 3 whole Acts of a Reel with an overall D?...or 3 whole Reels with an overall D...! Once again, thanks for the ambiguity, BradyGames guide. <can you smell the sarcasm dripping from this thumbUp smiley?

EDIT*---I'll go back to Phantasy Star Online today....I'm listening to Episode 2 ending theme now on the iTunes....and it's bringing back memories. Plus, I never got any of my newman forces to the appropriate level to wear Smoking Plate armor...I must see the Smoking Plate in action...

I even sat down and played 3 a bit, and even though I know next to nothing about the series and generally dislike 3D fighters, I enjoyed it. I like Kid Goku and Uub. Kid Goku has a stick and a tail. And he has this one cool-looking super move where he kick-launches the opponent into the air, then fires one of his beams at the ground to propel himself into the air afterwards. Then he does this Super Gut Punch into the opponent. It looks neat. There's a shadowy drawing of a dragon that appears over Kid Goku's fist as he does it. I even beat one roommate who was using Super Saiyan 4 Goku with that attack.

Got Viewtiful Joe for the PS2. This has got to be the greatest game I've played in a long time! It's the Jojo's Bizarre Adventure to my RandomNigga! The shit you can do in this game is just a BLAST!

I played the GC demo (called Previewtiful Joe) last year, but it was NOTHING compared to the full game! I'm currently at the end of Episode 2 and I'm having a bitch of a time against Hulk Davidson, whom I noticed is being voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson (does LOTS of voices (http://www.tvtome.com/tvtome/servlet/PersonDetail/personid-26185))!

Also playing Contra: Shattered Soldier. I'm getting reamed by that game and I'm enjoying every second! I'm slowly but surely learning the enemy patterns.

Realizing that I haven't played it in 3 years, I started a new Chrono Trigger file last week. I have about 6 hours into the game right now and I'm doing damn good, too. However, I've been here at FB's place since then, therefore I haven't played it in a week either...

Also playing Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. Now that I have the English version, I can enjoy the game better. However, it also seems harder now that I have to remember to use the cards strategically, rather than just pummeling shit.

I'm pretty much just jumping between these games at the moment. On a sidenote, in Dragonball Advance Adventure, I unlocked Krillin in adventure mode as a reward for beating the game. He's pretty quick and unlike Goku, he can pop-up AND air-combo enemies in adventure mode! He also uses Taiyoken (AKA: Solar Flare) to stun enemies.

Perhaps I'll give VJ another shot before bed tonight. Hulk is NOT gonna be easy for me!

Million, compared to Budokai 3, Budokai 2 is HORSE CRAP!! I kid you not. After playing Budokai 3, I can't even go back to 1 or 2. Althought the GC version of Budokai 2 gives you some nice exclusives like battle damage outfits, skill capsules and stages, how good those extras are, I don't really know.

I did it! I finally found that annoying, freaking, worthless Supreme Kai in Budokai 3!!! Had to use a dumb walkthrough at GameFaqs just to get him. And even then I had to restart my game from previous save points because I went to the wrong spot.
:lame: I even got the earrings for his fusion with Kabito. The cool thing about unlocking the Supreme Kai was that it changed the story for Gohan's DU mode. He was the one who beat Buu, not Goku. And it was Kid Buu at that.

Well I'm thinking of opening up Katamari Damacy and Metal Slug Advance Sunday night. I'm out for now.

I have Halo 2 now. It's awesome of course....but as some may have read in my earlier thread...the stupid ass Madcatz controller is pissing on my fun. So far I am at the point where I become "The Arbiter". I still plan to get Halo 1 later on. Man, I got off some headshots yesterday on some Jackal types...oh that's a beautiful feeling. The sweetness of a perfect headshot that your enemy never saw coming....shit, it's almost sexual. That Particle Beam Rifle is the hotness....that's my baby. It reminds me of my honey from Quake 3---the railgun.
*Scarab segment was a lot tougher solo. The first time I experience the Scarab scene, it was myself and a friend playing thru for the first time co-op mode. Whatever, this goes down as one of my favorite moments ever in a videogame. I ran along side the perimeter....taking occasional shots at the aliens inside that thing....sniping them with ROCKETS....and then I jumped down off the bridge to finish it up close and personal. It's just a really good "Action Movie Hero Moment". You have to experience it 1st hand to truly understand how awesome this is.
*sidenote---I didn't know that cool Covenant Sword could...run out?! That's weird, but I guess it's necessary for the sake of balance.

I also got an "Atari Flashack"....and it is good. Unfortunately Solaris is different...and that game was the main reason I wanted the Flashback system. This is remedied by the presence of other great ancient games though---I've never played Breakout before; it's great....and I will always love Millipede and Asteroids. Is it even possible to fuck up Asteroids? That game is tight no matter what. I haven't played the others though. The joysticks are also much better than I remember....they are based off the old atari7800 joystick design. The system itself is almost as small as a Nintendo DS.

*EDIT---more on Halo 2---I'm at the part where it's time to mee the first "Prophet"(*I think that's after I finish up with "The Arbiter" part). Those guys are so cool...I wish I had a futuristic, teleporting hoverchair like that. It would be my throne if I ever took over the world. I'd have the prophet chair, and Chief's Mjolnir armor...and nothing could stop me..

I don't feel compelled to try and figure it out right now, so I started up a quest in Sword of Mana. I haven't touched the game since buying it when it first came out and I need to put my Gameboy Player to work.

I just picked up Mega Man X8.

It's both a step forward and a step back from X7 in my opinion. It's also the hardest X game next to X6 (it might even be harder!)

First off, we find that Reploids can apparently experience puberty as Axl has had his ball bearings finally drop. His new voice is still youthful, but he doesn't sound like he's about to bust out with "Pikachu! Give him a Thundershock!" anymore. However since there is NO MORE LOCK-ON FIRING >:|, he now has an 8-way shot ala Metal Blade from Mega Man 2. (Why doesn't Capcom decide to use the right analog for aiming instead of mapping it to the same control as walking?)

X and Zero are back too and they basically run this game. Where X sucked in X7, he's back strong this time, and finally got rid of that gay voice and wuss attitude. Sure, he's still heistant to fight, but he has no problem with mixing it up though.

Zero is more of the same. His voice isn't so deep, but he still sounds like a badass. He especially sounds like SFA Guy when using his sword.

In addition, you get not one, but three "Navigators" this time:

Alia = the blonde one who doesn't sound annoying as hell this time.
Pallet = A green reploid who gives you hints on where items are and how to get them
Layer = A purple reploid who has hair like Shermie from KOF (4negs/Photon would love her) and a huge crush on Zero. She tells you about enemy robots.

I've only beaten two bosses so far, but there are 8 again:

Dark Mantis
Bamboo Pandamonium
Optic Sunflower (yes, you fight a sunflower...)
Gravity Antonion (you fight an ant too...)
Crystal Trilobyte
and I can't think of the others, but Capcom is running out of animals quick...

Then again, who knew there'd be a Mega Man X2 let alone a Mega Man X8?

The Bottom Line: This game is fucking hard. You will hate this game more than you hated X6, but in a good way. X6 didn't suck and neither does X8, but you will definitely have to fight the urge to take it back to the store if you're a hardcore Mega Man fan like I am.

Once you get past the "This is FUCKING BULLSHIT!!!!" stage, this game is pretty fun. It's incredibly hard, but fun. I'd recommend it.

At least to everyone who posted in the Mega Man thread months back.

In the words of one Thomas Anderson: "WHOAH."

I just finished Halo 2's single player mode for the first time, a few hours ago. (BLAH BLAH SPOILER STUFF if you somehow STILL haven't played H2 yet.) The Xbox has been on since around 1pm today. (*paused for a little bit of "Passions", but I forgot about my Jeopardy..) I don't get what some people's problem with the Halo games...the single-player mode is great, imo...and of course, multiplayer is the real deal. I'm loving the whole story....it truly feels like I'm the star of some super-macho action movie with bigtime special effects. Halo 2 is a "Schwarzeneggar". I thought the Scarab thing earlier in the game was greatness, and it was, but it only gets better later on.
As I got deeper into "The Arbiter" side of the story, I was like the Predator....sneaking around with the cloaking tech., killing EVERYTHING. One of the best parts though was where there are 2 Hunters on your side, with some other Elites...they just bust in the room, in a nice shootout with some Brutes...while I snuck up on the side, with cloaking, and bumrushed them with the Brute Shot and my Covenant Sword! It's just too tight for words. Sadly, my Hunter backup team died at some point, which was surprising...they normally can take a lot of shots...(unless it's to the back, apparently) Other things:

-Fuel Rod Cannon is THE SHIT. = lay waste to everything in pretty much ONE HIT. It fires a beautiful Radioactive Projectile of Toxic DEATH. A big green radioactive Death Turd. You just can't mess with that...it's too much.

-I just got even more rediculous with the Particle Beam. --as I said before, this is my baby. I even love the visual that happens when you fire off 3 shots too fast, and the gun overheats. It actually looks more like those headshots you just scored were so sweet, your character just busted a nut from it.

-The Flood is serious business. =I had a hard time with these bastards, and this was only "Normal" difficulty. It must be pure hell on Legendary. Actually, I think some parts of the game with "Flood" are much harder than the final boss. I beat Tartarus on probably the 3rd or 4th try, with constant use of cloaking, and well-timed slashes with my sword.

----------Complaint:
-There were a few occasions in the game where I simply didn't know where I was supposed to be going. The level with the library, for example. I was just wandering around there for a long time before I found the path that led to the rest of the board. This is really annoying in any game, imo....it's like the developer puts the player in the middle of Africa with no map, with no clues other than "Find Zimbabwe to finish this stage." I don't like wandering around like a lost child after I've killed everything....I just want to move on to the next challenge as quickly as possible.

-maybe it's just me, but I feel way too vulnerable in the Banshees. I'm fine with just about every other vehicle in the game.

-For real, if I had the Scarab....I would take over this world.

Hey BBCam, thanks for the impressions on X8. It already sounds like a much better game than X7 that's for sure. But no lock on firing? BOOOOOOOOO!!! But the fact that the voices are better make X8 worth the price of admission alone. At least it sounds like it to me.

Anyone ever been owned by someone yougner than them while playing a game? It happend to me Monday night when I invited some duds from Church over to do some gaming. Yup. I got Rockman & Forte. In fact I told you a long time ago, I hooked the SNES up to the VCR and taped myself beating the game from beginning to end with Rockman.

And about Metal Slug, it's not that you suck at it. The series as a whole, especially all the Neo Geo MS's, is notorious for being on the wild side in difficulty. From time to time in the MS games, you'll run into some funny things the enemy sprites do. Like at the beginning of the second stage of the very first Metal Slug, you'll walk up on a group of enemy soldiers sitting around a campfire. Once they see your player, they scramble and you just shoot them up.

I remember beating Metal Slug 3 at the arcade with someone. That was 20 bucks in quarters. We would just plunk in quarters until there was 70 credits.

As a matter of fact, not too long ago, I was playing Metal Slug 3 on someone's laptop on emulator, I beat the game, but in the final stage, I kept nodding off and falling into small cat naps!

I'm still feeling pumped from beating Halo2 last night. This is instantly one of my favorites of all time, despite the few flaws I mentioned in my previous post....I've temporarily become on of those annoying fans that can't stop droning on and on about something....so...more random things (blah spoiler warning blah):

-That sarge guy...he reminds me of Carl "Action Jackson" Weathers..
-Needler isn't as bad as people say...at least from what I've seen. When it comes down to desparate weapon choices...I'd much rather be stuck with a needler than a sorry ass little Plasma pistol. As I browse the forums at Gamefaqs, most people seem to agree that Plasma pistol isn't really good for anything other than taking out shields, and it MUST be dual wielded with something that actually does damage/kills.

-really big spoiler---------
has Cortana been "corrupted" by that Flood sentience(*apparently the name is "Gravemind")?
-it's so cool near the end when the Brutes are fighting the Elites. I tend to help the Elites via sniping, because the Brutes are far more dangerous enemies, imo. Brutes have that "Retard Berserker Rage" where they just bumrush you to death.

I haven't playing much new recently. A little bit of Deathmatch HALO 2 with my roommates. I've also been trying to beat my one roommates PS2 copy of MMAC for the different unlockables from the GC version, and his X-Box version of Sonic Heroes just because the game is pimp and I wanted to play through it again. Plus he's too lazy to ever finish those himself.

Needler doesn't suck at all. In a straight-on fire-fight, Dual Needlers is one of the best things to have. It may not be quite as reliable as the Plasma Rifle/Sub-Machine Gun combo (Note that Dual PR and Dual SMG aren't as effective), or any of the heavy arms like the Rocket Launcher or the Battle Rifle, but Dual Needlers is still pretty effective.

Hey BBCam, thanks for the impressions on X8. It already sounds like a much better game than X7 that's for sure. But no lock on firing? BOOOOOOOOO!!! But the fact that the voices are better make X8 worth the price of admission alone. At least it sounds like it to me.

No prob, Reg. Another note, The X series takes another pace from Street Fighter's book as there's now a combo counter which counts the number of consecutive shots you hit. As you make combos, your meter fills up and when it's flashing red, hit R2 to unleash a duo combo where both your characters strike for massive damage.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and for the most part, the 3D segments are gone.

I've played Halo 1, but only multiplayer and 2 or 3 levels of co-op.

2nd Scarab encounter---I wonder if it's possible to pilot the Scarab yourself? I got so excited when my fellow Covenant told me about getting in the Scarab, and a mission objective even says: "Commandeer the Scarab.", but when I got there, "Action Jackson" was already in it, and I could only escort/cover him with the Banshee....it was still cool, but I'd want to control the Scarab myself.

heh, I'm going to start up a campaign on Heroic difficulty later on tonight. I had a dream last night about playing more Halo 2. Unfortunately it wasn't one of those "playing *for real*" type of dreams, where I'm actually in the game.(*I had a dream like that about Quake 3.)

My next Xbox game = either GTA Double Pack, Ninja Gaiden, or Fable(*in order of preference).

-sidenote---I can't get enough of that "Welcome to the Jungle" song from GnR....the mention of GTA reminded me of the commercial for San Andreas, and that song seems to fit the GTA series perfectly. You are Ear Delicious..

EDIT---yeah, The gta Double Pack is definitely next. I hear you can make your own radio station there...so I could add other songs that I feel are perfect for GTA, like Motley Crue's "Dr. Feelgood" and "Kickstart My Heart"...."Natural Born Killaz", etc. Plus, the funny stuff like gameshow themes. One of the great things with the Psx versions of the old GTAs was that you could do the custom soundtrack thing. I was running people over and wreaking havoc to stuff like the theme from Night Court, Monday Night Football music, Soap, etc.

I'd say to rent fable and ninja gaiden, as they have very little replay value. But I know you enjoy the challenge of V.Joe, so Ninja Gaiden might be worthy of a purchase. It's pretty god damn hard, but its awesome.

I still play some vice city, going around with my custom soundtracks and causing some serious chaos with my motorcycle+ MP5 skills. The cops cannot touch me.

Well in Katamari Damacy, my Katamari is getting so big in some levels that I can roll up people!! PEOPLE, I TELL YOU!! :wow:

I was gonna play some GTA: SA and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 but I've been getting home from work late the last two days and spending a lot of time here on my comp. (Sigh) Can't wait for new year's day.

Finished playing Metal Gear Solid 3 yesterday. Awesome game. I doubt I'm going to replay it for the stealth camo and EZ gun.

I started playing King of Fighters Maximum Impact. Umm...Hmm...
The game is okay (I only paid $15). I finished it and am now playing the mission mode. I'm currently stuck on 2-05 (the combo mission). I found something on Gamefaqs to help out though.

I'll probably start playing Suikeden 3 (never played that or 2, though I have them both).

Million,

I think you should get Ninja Gaiden. That had to be the best X-box game besides Halo 2. The difficutly and action is top notch. But GTA Double Pack is definitely your best bang for the buck (can probably find it for as low as $30).

It looks like my next purchase will be sooner than later...I just got some more "christmas money"! And I'm in no mood to save all of it....videogames are one of the few things in life that keep me from truly going off the deep end.

Katamari Damacy cracks me up every time I see footage of it. It's one of the most oddball game ideas I've ever seen. This is beyond even Super MonkeyBall in weirdness...I love it. It's like...a dung beetle situation, but under heavy influence of LSD or something. Or perhaps just typical japanese wackiness again. They come up with the most off-the-wall shit....it's great. My mom saw footage of that game one day, and she was laughing too, with the "what the hell is going on THERE?!" look on her face.

Yeah, custom radio station in GTA for xbox is the deciding factor for me. Currently I only have "Burly Brawl" from Matrix Reloaded on my Xbox HD....and quite a few rap songs from whoever owned the system before me.(*they have "Lil' Flip" on there...hopefully that means the song with the cool Ms. Pacman soundbytes is on there! More games should sample classic video game sounds like that...I love it.) Speaking of which, I suddenly feel like playing GTA2 for Dreamcast again. There was a problem with it though. After long periods of time, the DC version would actually freeze! I'll never forget those good times in the tank though...nobody could stop me...not police, SWAT, Feds....the Army had a good chance though, since they had tanks too.

...and that somehow brought me right back to Halo 2 again---the Scorpion tank is great. Any part involving the tank makes you feel pretty much invincible. Sometimes I get carried away and start laughing like a madman at the chaos and destruction I'm causing. There's one level though*-------------SPOILER---------------*where you have a tank, but it's against Flood..it's pretty hard because some of them are so easily hidden in the background, and by the time you realize that one Flood guy is up on a rock with a missile launcher, it's already too late....you die.
Heroic is already kicking my ass, and this is just the first stage. Legendary must be quite rediculous.

Am I the only one who thought Katamari was waaaaaay overrated as far as niche games go? Out of GC, PS2 and Xbox niche games I'm gonna have to say Cubivore for the GC was the best one. It was a mix of animal raising-animal breeding-rpg-beat 'em up. The graphics weren't anything special(it was orignally for the N64 HDD) but the game was fun to play and very open ended. The game itself was just plain crazy. I've been thinking about getting a GC again (originally sold it 'cuz I needed the money) but if I can find this game it's definatley(sp) on. One of the reasons why I bought a GC in the first place. God Bless Miyamoto and Atlus.

Currently trudging through MGS3, I'm not liking this shit at all. If it weren't for the story and bosses I would have bailed a long time ago, I hate this new engine and camera system. :bluu:

Also playing Scaler for the PS2, its no R&C but for 20 bucks its pretty good and a cut above the standard crap.

uh oh...Cubivore is made by Atlus?! Good luck finding it then. It seems that their reputation is the "brilliant" plan of "Let's only release about 203 copies of this game...anyone else who didn't get it after that point is shit out of luck. Ha ha."

I think they made Double Dragon for GBA, and I actually gave up looking for that game quite awhile ago.

Don't give up hope, find this game anyways you can. It was published here in the States by Atlus but it was made by Nintendo's Miyamoto.

I know I can still find it. I must. :karate:

So scaler is worth a $20 buy? I was halfway interested in that one, but there are somany crappy platformers.

I think I'll check it out then.

Im about 3 levels into Blinx, and its pretty cool. The whole controlling time thing really rocks. And you actually have to think a little more than other platformers about how to clear the level. It took me 30 minutes to get through a particular room in the Hourglass caves, but it wasnt frustrating at all. The ame is actually very addicting. Its the first time in a while that I have stayed up really late playing a game other than Quake. I will definitely be getting the second one.

P.S. I caught that video game special on Discovery last night finally. Interesting shit about the beginnings of the industry. They had an entire segment on Miyamoto and other pioneers. I reccommend it to anyone who is interested.

Ah, it's a shame you was disappointed and quit Sonic Heroes. You don't get to see the true final battle/sequence.

*I'm surprised to see they still put the demo CDs in certain gaming magazines these days. Surely they realize how incredibly easy it is to steal those things, right? Back in the era of Dreamcast, I swiped every demo that came in that DCM or whatever it was called. Every single one....didn't even come close to getting caught. Heh, today in Tower, I picked up this gamecube magazine that always has a demo...and noticed the plastic was perfectly sliced on the side....it said there were 2 demos, but I only saw 1 box in the plastic...and the box was probably emptied too. I wouldn't have taken the risk at Tower though, they have too many cieling cams to worry about.

and that leads me to think....it must've been TOO EASY to steal shit back in the day before all this high-tech surveillance. I remember as recently as the 16bit era....I knew some guys that talked about how they could just slip 4 or 5 Genesis games in their pocket and walk out with no hassle. My friend "C" stole tons of PC games too. He ended up with so many "5-finger discount" games in his collection it was rediculous. Nowadays they're crackin' down with cameras everywhere, and of course the classic security device that's set off at the door...it's really too bad I didn't steal way back in the 80s and early 90s....I could've gotten away with so much back then. And just imagine how easy it was before then...in the 70s, 60s, etc...before they even had the door/security device-alert things. I'm rambling now..

Halo 2 --I don't think I can cut it in Heroic and certainly not Legendary. The Covenant Elite forces are just too good. I think their shields recharge just like Chief's...so there is no "hit and run" strategy that works efficiently. Even dual-wielding a Plasma Rifle with an SMG....it still seems to take forever just to kill one of those guys. Then there's the fact that enemies don't seem to ever run out of ammo...fuck that.

It is a shame really. But the bugs were driving me nuts. I can handle a game that has a couple of control issues, but I simply cant abide the monstrous coding errors that were in Sonic Heroes.

And I really liked the style of the game and the levels too.

Playing FullMetalAlchemist & the Broken Angel. Shit, I haven't seen a single min. of FMA but I guess the game isn't bad. Its from Square Enix. My problem is that there is barely ANY voice audio other than during the movies. Being spoiled, I'd like all my games to have voice acting..even if its bad =\

Oh I can do without voice acting, ESPECIALLY if it's bad.

I love voices in my games, but only if they are decent. Either that or in Japanese. At least if its in Japanese I dont know if its bad voice acting or not.

In fact, that segment about Tetris, the copy that Russian guy was holding during his interview, that's on one of my Asian pirated multicartridges.

Ok, now my problem w/the game is that some of the movies are in english and others are in jpnse. wtf! Not even subs hahah. Jesus. FUcken Squre.

But yeah, the FMA game is like a mix of KH and.. well it seems more fun than KH lol

edit : haha ok, now I know why the scenes are in jpnse.

Glad to see someone else enjoys Blinx. That was one of my favorites for the Xbox. 2 looks kinda whack imho but then again I'm getting old so I maybe I'm just jaded. I think me and the guys at the EB I used to live near were the only gans of this game when it came out. Great use of the Xbox technology and I wish more developers would take advantage of hardware like this.

I played a bit of part 2 (blinx) with a friend on demo one day....it didn't seem fun at all. The graphics were kinda not up to Xbox standards either, but maybe that was due to it being split screen for 2 players. Also, either you don't start with time-powers, or the controls aren't intuitive at all. Hopefully part 1 is much better than that...

Things really have changed regarding arcades....I went to a place today with an arcade(! in Memphis that's a miracle.)...and I actually FORGOT to stop by there before leaving. This would've never happened back in the 80s or 90s. The arcade used to be the main attraction of any place for me...in fact, immediately upon entering any mall, the arcade would always be my first stop before anything else. Even if there's just a couple of minutes before the movie starts. Eh, I wouldn't have played anything there most likely...I just occasionally pop in to look around, plus they usually have a super-cute girl working there. Really, I have not seen 1 ugly girl work this particular Jillian's arcade area....and yes, it's always a girl. If there's a guy working, there's a girl working with him, and you can bet she's hot.
