Svgl finally has a thread. Cool!!!:cool: I was thinking of creating this thread long time ago, but since I don't come there often I was hoping some svgl regulars would create it. Everytime I went to svgl I play better and learn hella sheit. The feeling of playing at svgl is weird, is like I can do hella shiet in svgl but I can not do it else where. I guess, since there's a lot of competition you will always play at your full potential.

I'll probably go early Friday evening. I was there last Tuesday and there were only 6-7 people playing GGXX all night. Just don't count me as a one of the good players at that game since I'm still hella noob. It's also cool to see a variety of characters used with each person specializing on a particular character. However, it's too hard for me to control crazy, wacky Jam on those sticks so don't expect too much of a challenge from me. More IAD practice for me then I guess! :p

Yep I agree! I'm the guy that uses Yun so feel free to come in and play against me. I prefer the 3S machine on the right though cause I don't play too well with the one on the left. My friends who also play 3S come Tuesday and Friday nights as well.

Hello. Yes I know Abel from SoCal. We used to go to UCI and he helped me get into 3S over there.

I usually try to come to SVGL Tuesday and Friday evenings now so I guess I'll see you on one of those days.

ST sucks because the game is balanced (ST Guile is fuck'n weak, chun li's walking super bullshit, techable throws (stupid), etc)...I would rather compete with my dominating Champion Edition versions of Bison and Guile in the new Hyper SF2 AE game.

And what's wrong with a rehashed SF2 fool, it would be a better way to end the SF2 series rather than end it with ST and old school SF2 is the shit. I don't know about Choi, but I am sure Watson, Cole, Nelson, Alex and Graham Wolfe and possibly Thomas have been waiting for an opportunity to compete at a better version of SF2 also since it's not crap like ST version.

Hey Chunksta the problem with you is you don;t play ant other games, so you can get stuck on bad habbits.You are deffinitly top 4 at SVGL, but you should reall take a small break and pick up another game. The skills you learn in other games carry over and some of them you can't lean from marvel.Thats why bronson and steve are so good, they both got really good at other games too.Don't ever quit a game cause you think you've reached your peek, thats just a sign that you need to step back and get rid of the bad habbits.

And s-clubb- that sucks about GGXX(scv!!),but you were doing alot better, if you just get down her more comblex combos youll be 20x better.Most of the time youd either have the match set, or you land a setup to do like 60% then choke..lol!just keep practicin those combos and setups!

GGXX is a great game! I'm only a month into playing it but I wish more people could get into it. Also just because GGXX#R might not be the standard in U.S. arcades doesn't mean people shouldn't give GGXX a try. If they are new to the GG series, they can get at least familiar with the engine and characters in the game. When they do finally play GGXX#R, the transition won't be that big of a deal.

However I would probably be hesitant to play GGXX in the arcade again if I ever get a console version of GGXX#R. SSJHibiki and I talked about how maybe more people have stopped playing GGXX at the arcade since they have GGXX#R at home. I'm with you guys about hoping we get a GGXX#R machine at SVGL. According to my friends in SoCal, a couple of arcades there do have GGXX#R but maybe because the fan base is bigger over there than here in NorCal.

Hey MAGUS1234. I figured out how to do the dust combos. There is no strict timing when doing the attacks one after the other. You just have to hold 8 on the stick and press the buttons while in homing jump. I'm sure you knew that already but it took me all this time to figure out how people always did those wicked dust combos.

I've been reading a little about the game and what's rubbish is that they replaced the GGXX dust button with a turnaround button. So if you want to do a dust attack you have to press the S and HS buttons simultaneously like GGX. :lame: I know for sure I'll get confused whether to press D or S + HS when I want a dust attack in any GG game I play. :mad:

If we really are getting GGI, I suggest reading the GGI FAQ at Gamefaqs cause I read that the system is similar to the early Fatal Fury games which features two lines of play. Also since the characters are based on #R, you guys might want to read about the changes for them from XX to #R.

Guilty Gear Isuka is finally here with only two player modes at the moment! ::claps::

Some stuff I noticed about while playing and observing for those who are curious.

1) Dust button is gone and it is replaced with a turn-around button. To do a dust attack, you have to press S + HS at the same time.

2) Burst is now P + K at the same time.

3) The most annoying thing that everyone and I have agreed on is that if you jump over or cross someone up with an attack you have to press the turn-around button to face your opponent again.

As an example, I tried to do Jam's crossup IAD 214K then S. When I pressed S, she just faced away from her target and whiffed the attack. However I'm pretty sure that you don't have to be on the ground to press the turn-around button. After jumping over or crossing someone up with an attack, immediately press the turn-around button so that they won't be facing away from the target when your character lands.

4) Teamwork is vital since both you and your teammate can hit each other. I played with my friend for the first couple games I had and I just told him to chill at the front line while I stayed at the back line.

5) Getting raped 2 on 1 by the CPU isn't fun at all. I think the only time you get your health back is if you win those "daredevil" matches. Daredevil is when you face 2 CPU opponents.

6) New backgrounds and character portraits look nice.

7) I don't know when they'll put it to 4 players.

The Brilliant Green is the only Japanese band I like, but they're really good.

As far as other music goes, I just discovered Ron Sexsmith who plays really nice, relaxing music. The lyrics are pretty crummy, but the songs are all catchy. If you like Ben Folds, "The Scientist" by Coldplay, or Rufus Wainwright, then Ron Sexsmith is a really good artist. Most people like "Gold in them Hills".

Jeff Buckley's good too. If "Everybody here wants you" doesn't get you laid, NOTHING will.

Tom Waits is one of the other few artists who's CD I'd pay for. I bought his Closing Time CD first and its still in constant rotation. Really Blues-ish and kinda folk-ish too I guess.

Okay, I actually scrolled down and looked at the original post and realized that my suggestions are actually not really what you are looking for. Hmmmm.... I don't think I have any hard music.

They took out batch-ass SvC already for Guilty Gear Isuka =\ Only hope left is for 3s to be in SC2 Cab. Which NO ONE plays at all. Except random people, maybe.

Oh yea forgot about that. 3s seems to be picking up on the busy nights so i dunno, maybe soon if it pikcs up more they will make some changes. The cool thing about svgl is they do listen to the players for the most part. I remember when the cvs2 guys bitched about the small cab. after a lil while they handled it. So as long as it makes sense, they'll roll with it usually.

hey chunk, i know this is like HELLA early, but im trying to get a head count. Are you going to be going down to evo with us and staying in our room? I want to get everyone confirmed by july, and u are the one furthest from salinas, so i want to get u confirmed or not even earlier. The room is gonna cost $264 for the days we are staying, i already reserved it. If u are gonna be staying with us, i wont know how much it is gonna cost until i have a full head count. magus, im assuming ffa is family fun arcade in so cal, and if thats the case its pretty far down there, figure i was told from where evo was last year it was another hr or so south i think. it took about 5+hrs to get to cal poly pamona, so maybe 6 or 7 hrs away, i could be damn wrong though. i just know its pretty far down there. hmm, that didnt help much, but its at least some kind of perspective.

Can someone let me know what day that is? And given the token special, what's the best day to play (i.e. with the most competition) -- token day or Saturday?
