Studying for this damn board in the morning... I have the promotion board to Sergeant in 2 weeks as well. More studying.
I'm pretty decided on getting the Prelude. Not too sure on the pricing, since everyone says I should be paying around 8G's for it, but even Blue Book and Edmunds has the car from 10G-12G. The deciding factor is the test drive this weekend... I'm pretty decided on it though.
And will you be tricking out this prelude? BTW, over here in japan, a lot of the older preludes (95')have this 4 wheel drive type thing. What I mean buy that, is that the back wheel's also turn to help you corner better. Did any of the american versions have that feature? Oh yeah, I know this is a little of subject but is a gallon of milk $5 in hawaii?

Todays my birthday, and I dont feel happy.
Sorry to hear that. If you want to talk about it, I'm sure the Late-Night crew is down to listen.
My study log for the night:
12:22am: press start.
12:40: status update. i have finished going through 3/7 powerpoint lectures. i am currently on the notes from 02.22.05 - "Screen Design (Typography and Color)" throat still sore. many buddies online without away messages. want to chat, but musn't. future of the human race depends on me doing well on this exam. end transmission.
1:01am: 4th set of slides finished. hand starting to cramp... carpal-tunnel? no... arthritis? no... SARS? possibly... i'd better call my doctor just in case. half niece has sent me a good luck bob-omb message. thanks, half-niece~ i want to return from afk, but i cant. the fate of the world still rests on my shoulders. tired and cold [sitting in front of the fan wearing a wifebeater], i continue on my journey.
1:43am: as it turns out, I have 9 sets of slides to cover. I have decided to take a 2 minute break to post this on SRK. I don't know why. end transmission.

The thing you are talking about that helps the handling of the Prelude is the difference between the SH trim and the regular trim... the SH has that extra traction system. They use the same engine and have some minor cosmetic differences, besides that.
I get half a gallon at the commissary for like 2 bucks. I'm not sure about what civilians pay... might want to check with Angelsabre? He works at Foodland (a supermarket) here.

Well gents, I'm leaving Great Lakes, IL thursday and couldn't be happier!
I have a transfer brief today, a watch from 14-1800, and tomorrow it's downhill trying to get all my paperwork and medical/dental records and what not. I'm ready to get near VA beach, no matter how bad it is! I can't wait to be back in a southern state, where I can order sweet tea and people NOT look at me like I'm stupid.
Ducky have you taken any college entry tests while in the Army? I just got back my results from a test I took a couple of weeks ago and passed =P *poof*! 6 hours of credit!

CLEP tests are the way to go, man. You can only earn so much credit from them though. Colleges will only accept so many. I have 3 under my belt right now... easy 18 credits in 3.5 hours total time.

First bump of the night...
Anyway, I had my Soldier of the Month board today... I blew that shit away and won it. I even impressed one of the most anal sergeants so much he told me that "your board performance was the best I've seen in a LONG, LONG time.." A compliment I've never heard him say. I won a 3 day pass. On the flipside, I now have to attend the Soldier of the Quarter board. Bullshit.
I do have my promotion board in 2 weeks, so if they flag me promotable right after, then I will get pinned Sergeant the following month... which means I would no longer be a soldier, so I wouldn't have to attend a Soldier of the Quarter board. One of the few motivating factors to get promoted.

I missed this somehow, but Congrats man. Out of the freeze, and into the breeze. VA beach isn't that bad IMO. Not much T&A when I was there, but the stores and the area are still good to check out. The VA beach base isn't all that bad itself. Rather laid back compared to the Norfolk base, so you're lucky there. Good luck in VA.

Not much going down on my side, aside from the usual. Got spring break coming up in about two days here at Auburn but damn, SB must be here early for some people. I was sitting in 2-D design class today staring out one of the windows in the design studio and a yellow Corvette convertible coasted by and then a silver Corvette convertible cruised on by a couple of times. Both had their tops down and that millenium yellow Vette was damn near blinding me with that sick ass paint, when the sun was hitting it. I need to fix my damn ride. I miss the days of cruising the street with the targa top off.
Meh, guess that's why I'm going to college, in order to get it done. Damn, it's needs to hurry up though! :bgrin:

I'll be back August 3rd.
I don't know much about the Tokyo area though.
You know more than me and that's all that matters. I'm sure one of your friends know a lot about the area. I figure there is nothing like a general day of bullshiting. Besides, It'll give me a chance to see what all of your breast complaints are about. After all, all of the women in the states aren't double D.
Now to start my original post.
SON OF A BITCH!!!!
The guy that was supposed to be selling me the Honda Saber sold it to someone else after I specifically told him that I would buy it today!!!! Either he couldn't wait 1 day, or someone gave him a better offer for it. Talk about pissed!!!! You know what I think (sour grapes talking), that he wasn't going to sell it to me in the first place since I knocked such a big chunk off of the price. But that's what the hell you get when you just say make me an offer.
Lets take a recap shall we. Honda Saber for sale for $2,900. On the info sheet for the car, all of the replaced parts and work done on the car was listed. I test drove the car, checked out the engine and listend to the car. Heard some funny noises, inquired about them while also asking for the paperwork for work done on the car that the seller claimed he had. Told dick splash that I couldn't buy the car because I couldn't get my japanese drivers licensense for 24 hours. Tell the guy that I will right him a check for $2,500 dollars since that's the offer I made and he took it. Not only would he have been getting all of his money the same day, but he didn't have to worry about the hassle of someone making payments. JACK OF ASS turns around and sells the fucking car today to someone else!!! I fucking swear!!! I hate when something like this happens and I can't do anything to get revenge. I know that this person will not need me anywhere in life down the road so that I may fuck him over. Now I have to go car hunting again.
Yeah, yeah I know. I'm just ranting right now because I'm angry. But I thought me and the guy had a deal. But what can I say, someone must have offered him a better deal.
Now for a bright side, I guess.
Maybe, I knew a little to much about the car. Maybe he was selling me some bullshit in a candy coated shell. Maybe someone else is getting a piece of shit. After all, when I did ask him about some of the noises, he told me it was nothing or gave me some bullshit excuses that he could tell I wasn't buying. Who knows.

Basically nothing. Got more rest than I wanted to. Played a whole lot of Devil May Cry 3. The difficulty of the game is just enough to keep me going so that was good. But the bad stuff was using entire days to supervise some home improvement guys come and recarpet my entire house. That alone took up a whole day. Then there were landscapers who took two days to do a one day job. Finally, some lazy asses had to fix up the kitchen and they aren't even done with that. Ah well, I'll just try and relax on that one day when I get back to my dorm before classes start.

You can't miss Round 1 (it's the bigass building with the bowling pin on the roof, just north of the base's 'Terminal gate'), and Playland is close by as well, right next to the Higashi-Fussa train station (ask for directions at the Yujo community ctr).
Also, I wouldn't mess with the Lemon Lot cars unless you find a REALLY good deal, the prices at the Lot are much higher than you'd get from a used car dealer outside base. For instance I bought my '95 Skyline GTS25t (with JCI) from off-base for $1500. There's no way in hell you'd get a decent-running 25t on-base for that price, I guarantee it.
Like I said, I lived there for near a half-decade and I left just three months ago, so I can definitely help you out with where to go and who to avoid and etc. If you have any questions or need advice lemme know.

Hey everybody. Just checking in - going to leave for the airport in an hour or two, to go home for a week. I can't wait.
I've been in a major funk lately. More than just feeling down - some of my friends have asked me to seek counseling. It's a number of things, just all weighing down on me. But now I'm going home, and I feel that will be really good for me. This country tends to drive one nuts the longer you stay in it, so it's like I can hit the reset button and go back to easy mode for a while.
Yesterday was pretty awesome. I was riding the train home, and this cute girl sat down next to me. I thought she'd been eyeing me on the platform, but whatever. She then pulls out a Danielle Steel book - in English. I say what the hell, why not? So I turned and asked her if she spoke English. We ended up having a fun conversation on the train, with me more or less ignoring my stop and riding an extra 30 minutes into Kyoto. Came away from it with her email and a possible date for when I get back.
Came home and got an unexpected email from an old fuck buddy I'd more or less forgotten about. She wants to see me again. That was pretty cool.
And one of my good friends from America came down to Japan to visit the country with her family. So it was really nice to see her. Also, she really put out the effort to meet me, time, location, and travel expenses be damned. It was awesome to see that I was that important to her - a feeling I'd lost recently.
So anyway, I've fulfilled my sap quota for the month so I'll stop. I'll still be online (probably) from home, but I'll be out for the next day or two while I waste away on an airplane. See ya'll from America!

What's up? Last night I was unable to post because...............I was dead. dead, not living, deceased, life functions disabled, DEAD. the cause? work went insane last night. Spring break just got us killed at work. non-stop customers from morning until late that night. the good thing is that I think my flu is dead. I ended up having to use the flu virus for energy, so it died off due to burning up. well, I'm off to bed again to try to recover some sort of energy into my body. See ya all later.

I have a car everyone!!! It's one of the cars that I was hell bent on getting. Come monday Morning (they are detailing it) I will be the proud owner of a 1994 Toyota Window (Lexus ES300). Not only do I pay less for it then the car I wanted at first. But it also meets my top requirements for a car. Lets take a recap shall we?
1. I'ts one of my hell bent on having cars.
2. It's a 4 door midsize sadan
3. It's got a sun roof
4. It's black (my cars are usually gray, white or black)
5. It's got a spoiler. I know that isn't important but I think it makes a car look good.
6. It's got chrome RIMS!!!

Congrats on your pimp ride. It's good that you got your car from off-base, lemon lot cars are ALWAYS overpriced, and more often than not pieces of junk.
Another tip, don't get your car insurance from the place at the Yujo ctr., George's Insurance from off-base (right across the street from base, near the 'supply gate'; ask for directions) gets you a cheaper deal. Also, for car maintanence, go to the Auto Skills center on-base or Ushihama's garage off-base. NEVER go to the AAFES garage for anything besides your JCI renewal inspection.
Round 1 has a lot of 3D games (Outrun, Ollie King, Initial D etc.) but for your 2D/fighting game fix you're gonna have to look elsewhere, like Playland or another arcade about 5 minutes from base.
Why did you leave, was it just time for you to go
Yup.
or did you get tired of being here?
Hell fuckin no.

There are F-18s flying overhead, which is pretty badass, but I have duty today and tomorrow so the weekend is pretty boring.
Oh and I dunno how things are for you Ducky or how they were for you Starhammer, but we now have "Phase" liberty, and since I just arrived at the base, I'm phase one again. That means that I cannot drink for like TWO FUCKING WEEKS AGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Other than that, so far Oceana is totally beating Great Lake's ass. =D
Good to hear you are at your training base... barracks get better and better. Once you hit permanent party, you get sweet barracks. Mine are comparable to the studios in Waikiki... nicer, actually.
Phasing has changed a lot since I went through... It's been a few years. Basic was 3 phases, you had 3 more phases in AIT. For us, we had to pass a test (which was bullshit... our 1SG asked you a question, you got it wrong, you lose) and do other bullshit... but we had to wait 4 weeks in phase 4 before you had a chance to hit phase 5, which gave you passes every weekend, civillian clothes, alcohol priviledges, etc... after that, phase 5+, you got to have a POV if you desired. Something like that.
On other news, I test drove one Prelude yesterday... 97 Type SH, nice rims, custom paint, nice 17" rims, only 65k miles, intake, exhaust, 5% tint, etc... but for $11750. :bluu: I would still take it though. He said he would call me back today when he clears it with his wife whether or not they want to sell cheaper.
I checked another Prelude today, a 98 with 100K miles. It had a kit and some dents in the hood, but 18" Racing Hart rims, a nice exhaust, and the guy told me $7000. It needs a little engine work, the wheels need to be alligned, and the dent needs to be pulled out of the hood... but for $7000, I don't think I will pass it up. I'm taking a few hours to think about it first.
I'm pretty decided on the $7000 Prelude... newer, but more mileage. Still, if I take the difference in money between the two, I can make the cheaper one waaaaay nicer.

I put my girlfriend on a plane back home to California this morning. I already miss her. And my penis does, too. =(
In other news, I finally got a good paying job. Well...it's better than burger-flipping, that's for sure. I'll be working at a casino as an IT guy. Repairing messed up video slot/poker machines and configuring computers for sale terminals and whatnot. ...Never had an IT job before this; anyone wanna shed some light on what I've got myself into? =P

You'll be good to go in oceana. I thought for some reason you mean Dam Neck, but I'm glad you're in Oceana. Unless I'm wrong, it should be Spring break over there. Find the way to Va. Beach and enjoy a little sun while you're there.
We had something like the phase liberty when I was there. We beat it by calling cabs from the pay phones and getting a ride to an area far from the base to avoid being caught. after that, we naturally drank and wore whatever clothes we wanted. Of course, a few got too drunk and ended up in trouble, or some got caught, but it was to be expected. not everyone makes it. Either way, enjoy yourself while you're there man.

Thanks for the tips. On another note, I'm going to hate on Ducky because he's in Hawaii and I'm not.
Ducky, I hate you... j/k
I went out last night for the first time. Ran into a couple of my friends from okinawa who I had no clue that they were over here. We had a pretty good time. I got some chicks phone number but I won't be able to call her because I don't have a phone yet.
I have to put a lot of things on hold because the higher ups are talking about moving me to another work center and maybe even to another dorm that is bigger and better. I hope that they don't move me to COSO (Computer Operations Support something) because they work swings (3pm-11pm) and mids (11pm-7am) and weekends. Not only that, but I've kind of grown attached to the people I've been hanging/working with for the past 2 weeks. The job I have right now is cake. I work from 7am-4pm, I run a few procesess in the morning from about 9am-11am, take a long ass lunch and then I'm out of work by 2:30-3:00pm. If they move me to COSO I'm going to have to get trained on all types of bullshit that I don't know. Then, there is the possibility that I'll get thrown on a crazy ass work shift. Not only that, but I'll be busting my ass day in and day out and possibly have to work weekends and some holidays with maybe a day off in between. I don't like being off while everyone else is at work, I like chilling with my friends. I don't want my sleep schedule fucked up and I want time to be able to go to school at night. Plus I wan't to be able to keep up with my martial arts training. If they throw me in a COSO that's going to fuck everything up. I won't have time for shit.

I do plan to do that, but it won't be until next year. Right now I have to use my COT leave (consecutive overseas tour) since I haven't been home in a while. A COT is a free plane ticket to your home of record. I will take that in July so I can be home for my birthday. After that I will take regular leave for christmas and then the next year will be mine to do with as I please.
BTW, what are all the perks for becoming a Preme besides getting a bigger manhood?

How long have you been in? Don't get out!!?? You should cross into the blue. At least you know that if you join the airforce, you'll get all the back stabbing with out to much hard work. You also get treated a lot better to, I promise 50% less bullshit. We also don't deploy as much. We go like once every 2 years for about 3-4 months. Not only that, but we are usually about 200 miles from the actual fighting. This is why I joined the airforce. I get paid as much as grunts do without putting myself in direct danger. I get hazardous duty pay, fire pay and hardship pay. You can get family seperation if you've got a wife and little ones. In the airforce, we don't believe in that you've got more than one job bullshit. You onlt do whay you were trained to do, otherwise you get an ass chewing if it's not in your training records. I just got here Thursday night, and will obviously be here for at least 3 or four months, probably longer. I can't wait till I can start drinking again, till then, I need to find something else to do.
How old were you when you lived there? Know where prostitutes hang out? =D
But I have to go back to my barracks now =`(
I was 9 when I left, but my memory is still pretty sharp.....
they have some kickass car shows at "The Pavilion" during the year, and there's a really nice mall there in the City, called "Lynnhaven"
of course, there's the beach, and all sorts of events at the Norfolk Scope, and Hampton Coleseum......
and there's the airshow, but then, you're on-base, so you're probably well aware of (and probably quite tired of) military aircraft, and such.....
there IS a lot to do in the city, look up the Virginia Beach Tourist Website, there's plenty of events and things to check out, as well as many attractions, and historical sites.....
Williamsburg isn't too far away, as is Busch Gardens and Kings Dominion, there's a few waterparks in and around the city......
I'm sure you'll find SOMETHING worth checking out/doing......

I have work tomorrow, but we were supposed to have a day off. The NCO's of my unit wanted to give us a day back, since we had to go to the range on a Saturday and we were there from morning until night... but our battalion commander said fuck that and told us we're working. Right. That's because no officers were there but one - and unlike the rest of us, he got to fire and leave right away. He didn't have to stay for nightfire or anything.
In other news, I'm getting the 98 Prelude for $7000. Needs some slight work, but man, it's a screamer. I'm going to take it to the shop right after I get it, and have it fixed up. I'm dropping a bomb system in it too - I already have two 10" Kicker Comps to throw in there. I'm thinking about tint and under lighting. Sickness.

I've got a question for you Taito, where the women at? Basically what I'm asking is for a place where not many G.I.'s go. I've been to Bar Row (spelling) and Krunkz. I also heard that there was another club right next door that I haven't gone to yet. But there is nothing that I hate more than being around a bunch of military people. So if you could give me some names of places to go I would be thankful.
Now for something sickening that I know you'll all enjoy. The age of consent in Japan is 12 for boys and 14 FOR GIRLS!!! What the hell is wrong with these people!!!??? They sound like they are all for statutory rape. Azrael, you care to clear this up for us?

Women? or hoez?
The problem is, you're going to have a hard time in Tokyo just walking into a club with no foreigners where you - a foreigner - will be admitted at the door. In my experience you have to get escorted by a Japanese friend of yours. Club Harlem in Shibuya for instance is the livest hip-hop club in the city, but they don't allow unescorted foreigners in there, you have to roll with a JP. friend or girlfriend. I was also allowed into a couple cool clubs in Roppongi (Roppongi isn't all sleazy, just avoid the obvious spots) and Yokohama because I knew one of the local Japanese club DJs. What I recommend is making friends with Japanese folks that don't mind showing you around.
And if you like Crunk but don't like to be surrounded by military cats, Crunk on Saturday is the same thing but mostly Japanese folks.
EDIT: I liked the foreigner-friendly hip hop clubs in Tokyo because they play all the latest music (unlike here in the fucking UK. Fuck fuck fuck all they play is old hip hop, ancient shit like Ice Cube's 'U Can Do It' from the year 2000). If I wanted to get away from military I'd go to the movies or a restaurant/bar, not to a club necessarily. But that's just me.

A little from column A and a little from column B.
This is gonna be tougher than I thought. Last time I was in Japan (Okinawa) I worked with a lot of younger Japanese cats. Now all I got surrounding me is old men who I know for damn sure won't be going out with me to clubs. So what I need to do now is get a japanese girlfriend to get me into these exclusive clubs, make some more female and male contacts and then I'm in. So I guess I got to start small time (Curnk) and then work my way up. I don't have anything against military people, but you know what I'm getting at.

Aww that's too bad. She's pretty hot (not much ass tho). I tried to scoop her up before I left but she struck me down  She usually DJs there on Fridays or Saturdays.
Annnyways, the Gaspanic clubs in Shibuya and Yokohama don't have much in the way of military if that's what you're looking for. There's also a little-known spot in Yokohama called Club Pure, it plays more laid-back hip-hop (not the usual *GET CRUNK* Lil John stuff) and has a pool table lounge. There are more foreign civilian kids there than military. Unlimited drinks too, if you like drinking.
If you don't really mind seeing military but just want to get away from base, definitely head over to the Yokohama clubs (Club B on Fridays Matrix or Circus on Saturdays). They're bigger clubs and there are a lot more girls to pick up and do your thing with.

That's what urks me as well. I don't think I will go too extreme with my car... I will get a new system in it, for sure - but I'm keeping the two 10" Kicker Comps from my Civic to drop in there... intake to match the exhaust. The car already has 18" Racing Hart rims, so that definitely doesn't need any work. The body kit is nice, but I'm getting the scratches taken out with the dents in the hood. The engine needs a tune up and timing belt change.
Besides that, I might spring for a tint. Considering underlighting, for true pimpness.

Not to say that movies (fast n furious) hasn't influenced what I would like to do to my car. But in the end real life and money dictates your decesion heavily. So, the only thing I'm going to put into my car is some Infinity Kappa 12" that I have't used in like 4 years (they are in real good shape) and my punch 700a amp. I had this stuff in my Integra last time I was in Japan for 2 years and I took them out of my car and boxed them up in there original packing. Went to the states and bought a 2000 Oldmobile Intrigue and never put that stuff in it. So now that car will be sitting in storage for about 3 to 5 years with only about 30K miles on it. So that's why I sill be putting that stereo stuff in this Lexus ES300 that I'm getting. I still haven't decided on the face I'm going to get yet. I also plan to put underlighting on it. Is that stuff expensive? Since I have a black car, I want to either go with neon blue or whatever the hell color (purple I think) that a black light produces. But not acutually get purple.

Get your stereo stuff from Crutchfield (www.crutchfield.com) - they are pretty damn straight when it comes to stereo systems. Check the prices there and compare them to Px/Bx/Nex prices. They are on point... hooked up my last system with free shipping and all. Top notch selection too.
Underlighting... depends on what kind of underlighting, cheap stuff or the nicer stuff, I guess. I've found the kits ranging anywhere from $100-300. Not too sure on the actual prices though. I'll be looking into it, if I find anything out, I'll let you know.

True, true. I have been a crutchfield customer since 99', that's where I got my other stuff from. Right now I find myself apart of the whole minidisc craze (if there is one) so I'm trying to cater to that right now and it's kind of hard. I'm torn between prices and the harsh reality of the shit I want just may not be practical. In the sense of things like this, I usually go with the wrong choice and reap the rewards of a bad long term decesion. It's either half ass it or wait to see what comes out later so that I'll have somethihg that will pay off in the long run. Who know's, I may come up with somethihg in a few months. I just need some time to think it through. I also have my eye on this monster!!!

It's $3000 at the bx now and we all know what that means. TAX FREE BABY!!!! Not only that, but the BX has some kind of sale coming up April 2 and hopefully, the price of this TV will fall under the sale. But usually the good stuff doesn't. Plus, I've got a 10% off coupon so I plan to make a killing. I shouldn't be paying more than $1,800 for it now if things go the way I want. I won't be buy it straight of the bat. But I will be putting that bitch on lay away.

I still need to take the Prelude to a mechanic to have it checked out before I buy it... I just remembered that I need to do that. I will call the guy up and ask him when I can do it.

Anyone ever have that feeling where it feels like you can't get serious? I have a paper due yesterday that I haven't even started on. It's like I really can't bring myself to buckle down and do it, feels like something is preventing me almost. I always get sucked back into whatever it is I was dicking around with. I'm really tired and want to just do the paper already, but I don't know, I just can't for some reason... What a strange feeling. I don't like it. My willpower sucks.

Yeah, I've had that feeling before. I try and start thinking about my papers a few days before they do and my writting sessions tend to go like 5 hrs staring at the pc screen, then finally writting around 1 am. But I always get it done.
Try to think of a way you make the topic fun or contreversial.

Some guy. It definitely needs a new timing belt and a tune up. He's letting me have it for 2G's under blue book so I guess I can't really complain. He said he really didn't do jack to the car. Oh and if you're interested in hooking your car up properly (and have some disposable cash), AUTOBACS is an absolutely god-tier car accessory store chain. BX stuff is OK but it can't touch what Autobacs has. Also, if you want to listen to Japanese band radio (there are some decent radio stations in English, like 76.1 and 81.3 FM), you have to buy a Japanese car stereo off-base. There's an Autobacs store just 5-10 minutes north of base.

Your damn right you should. You speak the language, so you've got an edge on the rest of the average joes. My Japanese still needs a lot of work since I haven't used it in so long. In order me to have a conversation (if you want to call it that), you have to talk to me like I'm retarded and repeat yourself like 3 or 4 times. If I'm not listening directly to someone, it's hard for me to make out what's going on in the background. Sometimes people here talk to damn fast and at this point, I become the preverbial brick wall. I see people over here walking around with a few decent looking women and they don't even speak the language. I know you could do a lot better man, I envy you. I can tell you that it's not to hard. After all, you are a Super Gayajin 3. I'm just a Gayajin and your powers far exceed mine.
Hmm, I almost want to change my SRK name to Gayajin.

You know what though? I'm starting to think that speaking Japanese actually works against me.
The girls who actually want to date foreigners...they want to date foreigners. If I come up speaking Japanese, and add to that my kind of quiet/gentle nature, and it's not exciting enough. The guys around here who don't know Japanese and use broken phrases...that seems to work better.
I've kind of stopped using Japanese unless I absolutely have to. I met a girl on the train before I left, and I really only spoke English with her...that seemed to work well.
But I dunno. This is something I've got to work on, starting now. Seriously.

Now I've never actually thought it about like that. I think that your powers may have evolved. Since you know the language, you can use that as a makeshift psychic ability. I'm sure I'm not telling you something that you don't allready know. But when your in public and you see two girls sitting together. When you look over at them, do they talk about you? Like if they think your handsome or something. Once you hear that and if she's cute, that's your best chance to make a move. So then you TRY to speak to her in english and then spew out a couple of japanese words (terribly). What this does is make her fantasy come true because you notice her and she gets that foreigner that she wants. As seeing how your on her mind. But she thinks that she can't talk to you because she doesn't speak english. I don't know, it's just an idea. I tried to go to your site but it seems that you've exceeded your bandwith, what's up with that? j/k

I hear ya man. it's bullshit that so many military people are so one-minded when they hit a new area. I got lucky and one of my best friends didn't settle for just hanging around the base. Luckily, since we were friends, I ended up going out to a lot of the same places that he did. That way, I ended up getting to see a lot more of Japan (Or at least Tokyo )than I would have otherwise. for what it's worth, i'd jump on the train at yokosuk-chuo if I were you. unless I'm wrong, the green train is four stops from Shinagawa, and the red train is seven stops. from there, transfer to the JR line ( you'll have to change tickets at a certain ticket booth) and go to Shinjuku. there's a place called the Code that has great parties on friday nights usually starting at 9pm and ending the following morning. across the street is a place called the liquid room. the same kind of party, but a little different in some small ways. You'll have to check with the locals to make sure that things are still the same, but they more than likely are. I'm not sure, but the a place called Yoyogi park in Harajuku should be opening soon. go there on Sundays. there's always some cosplay action going down. if the goverment hasn't shut it down, there should still be free music parties going down as well after 6pm. can't beat it.

Well, as far as audio goes, I think I'm getting close to what I want in the Prelude...
I'm looking at this face: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-T2hMBXGBm1j/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=300&I=130DEHP770
It's $229 at the NEX right now... SHIT IS HOT!
As far as speakers, I'm looking at either Pioneer or Infiniti speakers. I already have those subs, so I'm just looking for a more powerful amp to feed them. Thinking about a CD changer as well... I really want to get a screen, like a 6.5" DVD unit for my dash too...
I would LOVE to have this:

..but it's unrealistic. Too much cash, and not needed.

The remote is actually pretty nice... it's actually pretty intuitive, when you use it. I tried it a few hours ago at the NEX... I didn't like it at first but you get the hang of it and it feels like second nature after 2 minutes.
Alpine and Clarion are definitely tight, but it seems the low end models are garbage. The only tight shit I see from them are the high end stuff. Just an observation.
Still, I can afford a smaller screen - like an indash 6.5"... but no touch screen and nothing super fancy, just DVD. I don't think I'll go for it, though.

That is, if you even get to see it at all. Most of the high end stuff doesn't even get advertised to us average joe's. You have to pretty much search the net hard to find that shit. Of course it's out of our price range or as I like to say, it's unreasonable for us to pay for that stuff even though we can. But have you ever heard of SONY ES, Pioneer ES and Kenwood Sovereign audio line? If not, do a search when you can and you'll see what I mean. Well, I'm not so much in Tokyo. But according to the demographics (I hope I used that word right :bgrin: ), I'm about 28 miles away. There are only 3 Air Force bases in Japan. One is way up north about 12 hours from me. It's called Misawa Air Base. Bases are usually named after the town they are in even though Yokota is not. So unless Misawa is the name of a nearby town, I'd have to get back to you and let you know where it is. Yokota is located in Kanto and it was going to be named after some town that name starts with the letter F and is hard as hell to say. Then there is Kadena and Okuma AB on the island of Okinawa, so he can't be at those two. So he must be at Misawa. Other than that, we are surronded by Navy basese. Even still, some air force people work at other branches of the service bases. I don't know the names of them, but I can find out MUCH later.

I got dicked last night at work. I got called in at 240AM and worked until 620AM... I had work at 730. At least my NCO gave me a few hours of sleep before I had to go in...
...basically, if you don't know, I'm a DMS system administrator/system analyst... I work with MS Exchange and the DMS add ons that the government uses for signed and encrypted email. I'm very well versed in MS Exchange and have full rights over pretty much every email system I work with, but I only do DMS. I get called from the people who manage the entire Pacific (they are retards) because Camp Zama was isolated. I come in, and they tell me that DMS is working fine, but SMTP traffic (regular email) is fucked. I told them it's out of my AOR, but I got told to stay. Whatever.
So they tell me it might be something wrong with the servers (which it isn't, and I know that) so I tell them it's bullshit. They probably made some changes. Anyhow, long story short, after spending a few hours on the phone, we determined some fucktard up there decided to fuck with shit and fix it when it wasn't broke, and it screwed email for 2 days. And these are the guys who are supposed to be running shit for the entire Pacific. Right. I can't believe those guys have MCSE's and N+. They take away hours of my sleep and call me in for something that I'm not even responsible for, and I end up figuring out what broke shit - and they caused it. WHY FIX SHIT WHEN IT AIN'T BROKE? Anyway, my friend is selling me his DVD player... it's an indash with a 7" screen. He's going to sell it to me for $350, which is way less than the $750 he paid. The tech control in Hickam handles our circuits, but they don't do much but load/reload crypto and bump the circuits. For DMS we go through DMS-NOC-P at Pearl Harbor. They are the next level up... I just dropped in to say that the Fussa/Yokota area IS Tokyo, in the same way that, say, Compton or Long Beach or something is Los Angeles. You're in the county (or in this case, prefecture) but far away from the main city.
PS. And Yokota base used to be called Fussa Airfield a long time ago, but Americans have trouble pronouncing the Japanese 'Fu' and kept fucking up the name, so the base name was eventually changed to something more pronounceable.

If I found a steady girl (I could trust!) I wouldn't mind going that route again. But I figure this is a time in my life where I'm still young with little responsibilities, and in an environment where it would be so easy to just break out. I'd regret it if I didn't. Well, since Taito said so, then I guess I am in Tokyo. Anywho AZL, he's got the right Idea. What you need to do is take into consideration where you are right now and what point in your life you are at. Are you looking for a wife? If so, then you need to throw that woman of your dreams out of your head because you aint never gonna find an asian woman with a real pair of Double D breast. If you can get over that hump, then you can get your fuck on for the next year and a half and once all of that shit is out of your system. You can settle down once you get back to the states. You know what you got to do partner, take advantage. :encore:

At one point I thought I might marry Japanese, but J-girls really kind of suck. If I find marrying material, fine. Great. But right now, I think I just need to be free and enjoy. That's what I'd like to do.
Well, my vacation back home is just about over. Gotta go to the airport and back in Japan in a few hours. Was good to be home. Feeling much better. I'll probably post again from the airport in Korea, where I've got an overnight layover.

Damn straight I did. I even printed it out for later refrence. I will of course organize it all a bit better so I can try to get most of it done. Are you gonna try to make a trip back over here? Me and my boys are going to try and plan a trip to brazil in November. So how knows, I might be married soon.

I'm planning one, but it won't be until next year now at the earliest. Some BS going on between my best friend and his ex will be dragging the finances down for the duration. When we do, I feel badly for the Yokosuka/Shinjuku area. the crazy Gaijin will be back, and this time Shore Patrol can't do anything about it.
Ducky: Damn. That's some high level BS you're going through over there. I don't know why, but it seems to be a standard practice to blame someone else for something screwing up than to double-check shit. Unfortunately, since you actually know how to run your equipment, they'll be bugging you more than most. I hope you don't have long left in there. Just concentrate on getting out as soon as possible. They mightneed you, but you sure the hell don't need them.

Well... that's the thing. I'm down to a year left in Hawaii... it's great here, I love Hawaii. It has become my home. I just don't like this unit much. I have roughly 3 years left at this point... I think I might extend here. They will approve it, most likely. The way I will try to work things, I will ask for an 18 month extention, so at the end of my tour here, I would have less than 12 months in. Doing so, I wouldn't be able to PCS anywhere unless I got something I wanted and chose to entend a few months.
The biggest reason I want to stay here is because of my connections... I've built so many high level connections that I'm guaranteed some sort of high paying job here. My name is pretty well known around here and I have a high batting average... so I really don't want to leave since I would have to start from scratch wherever I go next, and that might be a place like Ft Hood or Ft Bragg - where I wouldn't be able to make connections worth anything.
I'm still thinking it over... I think I will end up putting my packet in next month. I have a promotion board to sergeant on Wednesday and having that rank makes me sound a lot better on paperwork.

Man, the April Fools' jokes aren't even that convincing today. BS threads. I was expecting the kind that wouldn't be detected by the title or the thread preview (you know, the one where you can see the first post's contents just be pointing the mouse over the thread name/link). Ah well. Less convincing bullshit = a slightly happier (if bored) me, as I have a history of being gullible.

Howdy late night! :karate:
Even though it's 5 pm here, I figured I'd run in and drop a coupla lines.
How is everyone? I am doing pretty good; one of the broads in our Q shared a "medicinal product" with me and my bud that she got from med, so I'm actually feeling damn good, DESPITE the fact that early this morning we got the ever-loving SHIT PT'd out of ourselves. We had to do these stupid stations where we fucking spider jumping jacked (like squating while doing them), and other horrendous exercises that only a fitness Dr Doom would have us do. On top of that we had to run around the field and to the next station every time we finished the last one. If you got passed by someone in the station behind you, 8 count body builders. <bleh>
Anyways I'm really wanting gin and I'm still not allowed to drink. But I did take my Phase II tests today and I saw that I passed one, now I have to find out about the other one. So hopefully I'll be intoxicated by next weekend, if I don't find a way to smuggle it in before then... of course I'm completely kidding
Have a good night gents.

Damn yo, that's pretty messed up about the profile. I actually may do Air Assault at some point, not sure though. I might even go to Ranger school and SERE.
Hey, the reason I said not to go Airborne is cause that shit is too crazy. Man, I almost got totally annihilated on Tuesday. When i had a jump on tuesday I was up in the sky and the wind came on strong and I got blown away and crashed into the trees. I was stuck hanging lopsided 50 feet up.

You must be all hooah hooah about stuff, which is great. AA school is a lot harder than Airborne, from what the people in my class told me. About half my class was going there for the "double stack." They make you do a ruck march the fucking day you get there. It's nuts. It was fun, but bullshit that I got booted at the last week. I should really watch my mouth more often...
I give you props on Airborne though, OMS. I've known so many folks who fuck up their knees and shit doing it... I really give props to those guys who make it with no problems.
Thanks for hooking it up with the av... I'll make a request on Sunday, for sure. Gotta find a nice pic of Lily Thai to put on it. :brgin:
When are you done with training, anyway? You've been there forever, seems like. I guess I can't really talk because I didn't get done with all my training until 8 months in. Gotta go memorize the NCO creed for my board on Wednesday... gotta get them sergeant stripes.

I'm not hooah hooah per se, cause I don't plan to re-up at all. I just like adventure. What better to prepare myself, then to go for the highest training. I've been told that AA is much harder than Airborne, too. Airborne was too frickin easy.
The one thing that would bug me about AA would be the ruck marches. Never been a fan of those. But I would still do them anyway, shit it dont matter.
Thanks for the Airborne props. Yeh, I do see alot of folks walking around with crutches or braces, etc.
As for the avs, I think I'll make a request thread tomorrow or something in the premium forum section. So make sure to hit it up then. I think I might cap it at 6 requests(not counting those that I respect for various reasons). So you'll definintly get one even if the quota is filled of course. Just for fellow Army soldier respect alone.
I'll be done training in the middle of May. That's when I take the OPI to test out of Farsi. And go to the 4th POG. So that would conclude the initial spec. ops training path I had at around 13 months total. I also should be E-3 next month. I've also been told that promotions are fast in spec. ops and I might be an E-6 before my 4 year enlistment is over.
Haha. So looks like you're going for it with the E-5 thing huh? Good luck on that. Remember where you came from, future NCO.

The ruck marches in AA blow. Full battle rattle, and to make them, you pretty much have to ranger shuffle/run the whole way. Once you get done with the road march, they check for blisters, and then drive the fuck on. You don't get shit breaks.
You will definitely make E-5 in 4 years, man. Especially with the new shit they put in place - you hear about it? They are so strapped for NCO's now, they automatically pin you E-5 after 12 months TIG as E-4... some shit like that. E-6... not sure you will be able to do that in 4 years. You'd have to be fast tracking like a mother fucker and be in a star MOS. I know I won't hit E-6, not even during my 6 year.
I mean... E-3 is 18 months TIS, fastest you can get it, I think... then you hit E-4 about 6 months after that. Or is it 12 and 18 for E-4? Anyway, you should hit E-5 right around 3 years in, give or take half a year. The hard part about hitting E-6 is having the TIG and the time left on your contract. You only need to do PLDC for E-5, but E-6 you need to go to BNCOC. For my MOS, BNCOC is about 5 months back in training, IIRC... well, anyway, since I need the TIG as E-5 and I need to have so much time left in for me to get pinned E-6, I won't be able to get it. I don't really want it anyway.
I didn't even decide to go E-5. My sergeant major sent down an order and told my first sergeant he WILL prepare my promotion packet. I pretty much have no choice... either I get it on my own or sergeant major will give it to me. I just don't want the responsibilty.

Haha full battle rattle style ruck marches. Yeah that'll break me off. I'd definintly have to pick up my feet. My normal walking stride is way to chilled out for ruck marches.
In the spec. ops MOS's they promote faster than regular Army. Not only that, PSYOP promotes fast, simply because of the briefings we would possibly give to commanders of other branches of the military to name an example. A commander from say, the Marines, really wouldnt want an Army private telling them what PSYOP is good for.
About the E-3 and E-4 thing. For E-3 it's 12 months TIS, and for E-4 it's 18. So on spec. ops acceleration I could be an E-4 before I get deployed and most definintly after my first deployment. I'm not really looking forward to becoming an NCO either because I wouldnt want to have to be taking care of a squad etc. But I don't know how the NCO's work in the normal side of PSYOP since I'm still on this long ass training path. In Special Forces it's hella relaxed, i've been told it's very similar. Even first name basis type shit with those ranked above you, imagine that.
When you hit the E-5, what kind of extra stuff do you expect to happen to your position as it stands now? I remember you saying that you already have a shitload of extra stuff that's way over your rank now anyway. The extra pay is a big plus. Atleast it's not COPORAL though.

Another friday night, another episode where around 2000 people too many show up to eat at the restraunt. I on't know. I think my body may FINALLy be getting used to it. either that or the places that used to hurt don't have feeling left anymore. Either way, i'm not feeling as badly after getting run over all day at work. Tomorrow is gonna be more of the same unless something unexpected happens, like me getting out of there early. Hopefully I will get out early beause my buddy needs to get away from the area for a while. his ex has pushed it over the edge the other night and now he's turning to the dark side on her ass. MAN FUCK!!!! Where is the pissed smiley when you need it? I don't know if many of you remember. But a couple of post ago, I complained about being sent to a COSO. Well, that's exactly where I'm going. My Chief Master Seargent looked over my records and was impressed. So that automatically meant to send my ass to COSO. I told him that a friend of mind would be here the second week of April who is more qualified than myself to do the job and the Cheif told me that he's allready got a job picked out for him which will probably be my fucking cushy job!!! So now I'm going to probably have to work nights and fucking weekends!!! However, I have discorverd some plus sides to working there so they may outweight the bad.
1. They go TDY (Temporary Duty) to a lot of good places. Thai Land, Singapore and a few others.
2. They don't go on AEF (Air Expeditionary Forces) or in other words Iraq. So that's a big fucking plus if I ever saw one. :encore:
I now have the car that I wanted, but it's fucking costing me a lot. I was so blinded by it's unyeilding beauty that I didn't think clearly and now its to late for me to do anything about it. Lets take a recap shall we?
1994 Windom (Lexus ES300) $2,400
Insurance for 6 months $297
Rod Tax which is coming up April 11th and is usually payed of by the car dealer. $70
JCI (Japanese (Fuck you in the ass)Compulsory Insurance) which can range from $350-$750. Mines just so happens to be $500+ because of the size of my engine.
When you buy a car from a dealer ship, JCI and road tax are normally taken care of. But since I was so fucking impatient, they didn't have a chance to get any of that done once the car came in. If I would have waited, then someone else might have bought the car before me. I asked the owner of the lot, what's up with those two things not being taken care of and what they told me is that I am buying the car to soon. It's only been on the lot for 3 days. Also, the reason the car is only $2400 was because they haven't JCI it, had that been done, then the price would have went up. The road tax wasn't done because it's alway done in April and I'm buying the car NOW (in not April).
JCI last for 2 years, and the JCI for my car will be up November 2005, so now I have to pay that shit!!!
So now instead of standing firm and paying no more that $2500 for a car. I have gone over that and I am now paying $3200 for a fucking car!!! I'm so pissed at myself!!! That money was supposed to go towards buying a 60" TV!!! They say live and learn which I try to do all the time. But how come I haven't fucking learned yet!!!??? At least I have one bright side to look at for this. IT'S GOT 18" CHROME RIMS allready on it.

pet problems: Peaches (left) is going to get a biopsy soon. The vet has told me she might have cancer since i got the blood tests back and they were negative. Here's a pic of her with a cone on so that she stops pecking at her wing. Apparently, there was something wrong with her from day one, caught by the mother parent. It's very depressing to watch her now, her head droops becuase of the uneven wieght balance caused by the cone, and she wobbles. Last night, she was sleeping on her side becuase she couldn't perch normally and activate sleep mode. have to wait for 10 days until i can get the cone off. I hope she's alright, and if she does have cancer, we have to amputate her right wing. i really don't want to do that, it's not worth it for my personal enjoyment for her to suffer with just one wing. If it comes to that, i might just have to put her down. Had her for 3, and she's my favorite between the two. The year 2005 is seriously not fucking around. maaan.

Corporal is just a lateral promotion - in my case, just a title. It doesn't really mean shit unless you need it to be in charge of soldiers, anyway.
As far as my position goes... I work an E-6 slot already. I'm the senior system admin/system analyst in my shop. I'm primary for most of those sys admin/analyst duties. When I hit E-5, they can make me do a lot more shit, like making me a COMSEC custodian - an additional duty that requires E-5 or above. On top of that, they would probably try to give me some soldiers, so I have to take care of them, and I'd have to deal with shit like COMSEC inventories, training meetings, all that... which I can't do because I'm not an E-5. Basically, once you get E-5, they can stack a pile of additional duties on you on top of what you already have.

Went to the club last night and I noticed something that I hate seeing. Especially being a black man. Apparently, there was this guy who was talking to this JN. He must have spit some serious game and got her to go outside. Yes Taito, this did happen at Crunkz. They must have been out side kissing or something and word got back to her boyfriend. Anyway, I pay it no mine because I smell my clothes and they had no scent, so it must have just been ice water since she drank all the alchol. So I put her on hold to go into the bathroom to wipe my clothes dry. I start admiring myself in the mirror thinking to myself, who's da man. When suddenly, a girl being protected by a guy gets SLAMMED into the back wall of the bathroom. One guy is holding this JN gilrs head down and he's over her trying to take punches meant for her. The angry boyfriend who by the way is our usual guy that some how sticks around after probably getting kicked out of the military (you can tell by the facial hair), is trying to some how puch around the guy who may be his friend so he can hit the girl.
He lands a few UFC half guard style blows on the girls head and the other guy took a few hits and was still trying to protect her. At this point, I'm like oh shit!!! I guess my clothes are dry enough, excuse me!! The funny thing is, all of this is going down and nobody is trying to stop it. Then some other JN girls come in and try and break it up, but that's not happening because this guy is fucking huge. After he lands a couple more blows and tries to pull the guy off of her so he can do some (best CvsS2 voice) serious damage. The bouncer comes over. Our hero is big fat and out of shape and I'm pretty sure that if the guy wanted to whoop the bouncers ass he could have. Over all, I think everything was actually stopped by the angry guy's friends and the scuffle managed to drag itself outside. The two were seperated on the street, the girl was stuck in a cab and sent home and the angry guy just walked around throwing a fit because he couldn't finish his handy work. He was also about to punch out one of the girl's girlfriends because she wouldn't tell him where the girl was going.
I hate seeing this kind of stuff because guys come over here and phyiscally abuse these women and control them. It won't be long before black folks get a bad name over here. I'm not going to say that I don't abuse the women, but it's more in the bed and on a psychological level. They can be controlled with feelings and false hope. But I treat every woman like a queen.

That punkass sounds familiar. The very last time I was at Crunk I got into it with knucklehead civilian (pretty tall, over 6 feet) because I guess I disrespected him at Club Flow at few weeks prior. It has to be the guy (or maybe it's somebody new) because none of the civilian cats I know at Crunk bother with fighting over hoes. Japanese broads at Crunk (or most girls you find at any nightclub anywhere) sleep around, that's just a fact of life, deal with it.
In general though, people at Crunk are chill. When the Navy USS Kittyhawk is in town tho, you can always count on some fight breaking out in the Yokohama clubs. Navy folks from Kittyhawk/Yokosuka just looooove to fight. The biggest brawl I ever saw in Japan was in Fall '03 at Matrix. The ENTIRE dance floor was fighting (and Matrix is a large club, not a hole in the wall like Crunk). It looked like that Pistons/Pacers game last year. I saw Japanese dudes fighting bouncers, girls' shirts get torn off (titties titties titties), etc. Insane but I avoided it all somehow.

I'll send you the pic I want you to use in my av later... Tell me how Sin City is.
Yeah, send the pic my way via AIM or PM or whatever.
So we went to eat, saw Sin City, but no strip club. They punked out at the end. So I'm back here in the barracks.
Yo... Sin City was hot!
Definintly had a comic book feel to it. It was greyscalled with splashes of color here and there. It was pleasant to look at. Well acted, and the stories fell into each other quite nicely, showing that it's really one big city(Basin City).
The best story in the movie was the 2nd one in the film. Big badass mofo fucks this bitch and goes on adventure from there, kicking ass and taking coats.
A dope flick. I don't want to spoil it at all. I recommend you see it.

I was thinking about getting a tattoo myself for a long time. I was actually considering one way back in high school but never got one. I'm too indecisive on what to get, and I probably would be unsatisfied and want something different once I got it. Once I finally decide on what I want to get, i'd do it.
I remember Ronin telling me about getting some kind of thing that lasts for a year, and if I didnt like it after that I could easily remove it. I think he was saying something about some kind of special ink shit.

I'm getting something very similar to the tattoo that Jin from Tekken has on his arm. Around the same place, too. I'm getting that first... later on, I'm going to get something for my left arm. I have an idea of what I want on my back right below the base of my neck, too. I want some more piercings in my ears too.

Back home (ha!) in Japan. Peaced out for a couple of hours, now I need to clean up, unpack...and basically sleep before work in the morning. :bluu:
Emailed the girl I'd met on the train before I left. We're gonna grab a coffee on Friday. She has to "squeeze" me into her schedule. That's kind of annoying...but then she does seem to actually be pretty busy, yet she's actually making an effort to see me. That's kind of cool (and the sort of thing I've been bitching about for years). We'll see I guess.

You ask me, she's playing. Make sure to show up at LEAST 10 minutes late. and if she throws some complaint, make sure to have a response ready for her. Me? I kinda gave up on the nurse, started to get irritated with her. Funny thing is ever since I backed off, now she's messaging me.
This train girl...well, I'm probably gonna be late anyway since I'll have to go right after work. I think it's cool that she's meeting me at all, usually I just get the "oh I'm so busy no time" excuse, especially from Japanese girls. I know this girl has 2 part-time jobs and is going to school, so she probably actually is busy. She seems to have made time just to meet me, so that gets her bonus points in my book. The Army is at it again.
Since some teacher in the cycle before us gave out the answers to the DLPT final language exam in Farsi. Our cycle has been compromised with only an OPI speaking portion.
So we took a mod test today, that had absolutely nothing to do with what we've been studying for this module 3 in the past month or so(i guess since the "big" test has been compromised they changed the module ones too). Boy this is random. Pretty much everyone has failed this one(that's the overall consensus, but we havent gotten our grades back yet). So we'll all probably be put on mandatory tutoring, which takes up 3 hours of each saturday.
In which case it's going to be 3 more hours of this bullshit a week, and it's probably on stuff that WONT be on the next module.
Again.
Now going to Final Round 8 isnt for certain.

Well everybody, I have just had my job orientation and it looks like things aren't going to be to bad. The people that I work with right now are pretty cool and they are showing me all kinds of different things. I work with this young Japanese cat and he's all about the partying so we'll be going out this weekend. He's going to introduce me to his friends and take me to the hidden spots away from all of these military people. I think this 2+ years are going to be fun. The dorms are filling up and should that happen, I'll be able to get a nice 3 bedroom apartment off base for about $700+ a month. The airforce (God bless them) will be giving me about $1500 a month for BAH (Basic Allowance for Housing) to pay the rent. So that'll be extra cash for me to pocket. Then there is BAS (Basic Allowance for Substance) which will be about $400+ for food. I only need about $250 or less for groceries so I'll be poketing some of that. Then, there is the all mighty COLA (Cost of Living Allowance) that you get paid just for being here and that'll be about $800+. So all of that extra cash that I'm not going to have to spend much of, plus my check= one happy and soon to be a little richer motherfucker. :encore:
The only thing that I was told to keep an eye on were my utillities (spelling) and I should be ok. I was told that I'm going to need Kerosene heaters to heat my house and that you only heat the parts that your mostly going to be in. Also, during the summertime, you can't leave the AC on all day. So I'll have some fans to keep me cool and only run the AC if I'm having company or I just can't stand the heat. OH MAN I CAN'T WAIT!!!

Two of the people who sat on the board didn't know me and I didn't know them. I froze up and bombed their questions... I was more relaxed with my First Sergeant, another sergeant from our unit, and the First Sergeant from the other company. They saw I was nervous but went easy on me, so I aced their shits. I just got so nervous...
...anyway, as it stands, I just became promotable. I'm SPC(P) Yu now... and once the points go through and hit the list, I get pinned. They told me about 2 months for everything to go through and I become sergeant.

Unfortunately, I've never been to the Yokota base or the area. Mostly, I got all of the games and systems I got when we would go overseas. Fortunately, you can probably find ANYTHING you want in an area called Akihabara. it's also known as the Electronics city. If you can't find it there, it probably doesn't exist anyway.

- Yodobashi Camera (in Hachioji) or Bic Camera (in Tachikawa) are about the last places you can find a good selection of Dreamcast games and accessories, new and unwrapped, at regular prices
- There's a used game store in Hachioji called Visco where I got all my preowned Saturn and DC games. If you drive around, you'll find out that there are a LOT of mom n pop used game stores nearby Yokota base
- There's a store chain called Off-House (there's one maybe 5 minutes east of base, ask for directions going by car) that sells used goods like games and electronics in varying degrees of condition. Last time I was there I found a working copy of Burning Rangers (Saturn game) for just 300 Yen. They don't have a huge game selection, but they do have good bargains on games that are hard to find outside Japan, for incredibly cheap
- And you can always take a trip to Akihabara for game bargains, but I actually never bothered going to Aki before, so I can't help you there.
Dunno how much you play Saturn games, but you're more likely to find used Saturn titles than DC games, because Saturn was like the only successful Sega console in Japan (Megadrive struggled against PC Engine and Super Fami in the 90s, and DC was just a fucking flop).

A friend of mind had a Saturn and he had a good library of games that I did like. That was like back in 99' and I haven't touched anything saturn since. I was thinking about maybe getting into it since I was here, but since it's died down/out I have no idea what I should be looking for. I guess I'm going to have to go to gamefaqs and look through there list and screenshots to see what's out there and search for that. I also plan to get a hold of a panasonic gamecube while I'm here. A friend of mind has one and it's pretty sweet. Sure, it's a big wast of money, I know. But not many people have one since they are had as hell to get a hold of. I thought I had something with the platinum gamecube, but those things are alway in stores. So now I have to take it to the next level. I've allready got a Crystal Xbox that has people oooh and ahhhing. I Black DC would be nice too. I think there is an emulator for Saturn. If you've got the actual Saturn games or ISO's, you can play the games on your PC. I'll check into that later.
In other news, I will not be moving off base. This is not by choice, but I'm still on the waiting list and who knows how long I'll be on it before they let me go. Oh well, a man can dream can't he.
I'll might be going to Rupungy (spelling) this weekend with a group of people I don't particularly care for. But they know the area and are cool to me, so they'll be my means for learning everything. Honestly I don't remember going to Roppongi on Saturday and having a good time. It's crowded enough on weekdays, but it's pretty chaotic on weekends. There's a good chance you'll get your shoes scuffed or get a drink spilled on you, so don't wear anything you care about.
Hopefully you can head to Yokohama soon, the clubs on Saturday are a lot better than what's at Roppongi in my opinion. The best time to go to Roppongi imo is on Thursday, when all the clubs are free/Ladies' Night, and drinks at Gaspanic/Club 99 are cheap.

How far is Yokohama from here? Can I drive, or would that be a bad idea just like driving anywhere else here?

Club B/Matrix/Circus is about an hour away from base but it's very easy to get to. I recommend driving there actually. Just stay on Route 16 South to Yokohama, then take the K1 junction, and take the 'Shin Yamashita Park' exit. You can't miss Club Matrix (large club with a big neon 'MATRIX' sign), but B and Circus are a couple minutes or a few traffic lights north of the highway off-ramp.
If you want more detailed directions (I know how to get there by memory) then PM me, otherwise the Yujo should be able to help you out.

A few people thought the "cancel Gaijin Optic Blast into Gaijin Smash" thing was a Smash Bros reference. Other than that, I guess either they get it or they don't. I'd love to use more SF references but I know stuff like roll-cancelling C.FP will fly right over their heads.
EDIT - Holy shit, I can't confirm this, but I think someone's already trying to bite off me. From an email in my inbox...

I like cosplay. Thanks to being in japan last time, I was able to live out one of my sick fantasies. This one girl that I was dating would do anything for me. I told her to buy a cat girl outfit and dye streaks in her hair blue. She had naturally green eye's so that added to the excitement. She came crawling into the bedroom on all fours. That's when I thought to myself. I'm about to put a serious huting on Felicia. :badboy:
BTW, there is a girl that works in the cleaners here and she had orange and yellow streaks in her hair. She told me it might be blue today. If I was thinking. I would have flirted with her a little more. I will be going over there today to ask her out. DAMN YOU ANIME, DAMN YOU TO BLOODY HELL!!!

Yeah, but the problem is it takes $300 roundtrip to go to Tokyo. The cheapest I could do it for would be $100, I'd have to use the overnight bus for that. If I do it, I want to make sure I'm getting my money's worth, and the last time I went I didn't. Plus, I don't really know anyone out there (though now, I guess I could always drop in on Omni...:badboy: ).

You know it!!!! But hold that thought. I'm in the middle of testing right now. So there won't be any fun for me for a couple of months. In the airfoce, the make you test on bullshit in your carrer field. I just put on Seargeant, so I got a new set of shiny CDC's (Career Developemnt Course) books. Everyone hates doing this this. Basically what it is is a loop hole test. It weeds out lazy fucks like myself out of the airforce. When you first come in, you get 4 books. You have one month to pass a test for each one with a 90% or better. When I first came in a few years ago, there were 7, so I had to deal with that bullshit. If you fail these test and people do like you wouldn't believe you get kicked out. Once you become a seargeant, you get 3 books. I'm on book 2 right now and I test Monday. Once you get through testing on all your books. They combine the material into one big super test. If you fail this, you loose a stripe. Then you test again in about a month and if you fail you get kicked out. So right now I'm on book 2, then book 3 and then the super test. Once I'm done with that, I won't have to test until I make 2 more stripes. I dont' see that happening for another 4 years or so. You have a whole month to prepare for these test and no one is making sure you do it, so when it comes down to it, it's all on you.

Clubs are overrated.
I picked up my car today... needs work, of course, but for $7000 it definitely is worth it. It needs a tune up, timing belt, and new tires, for sure. Getting body work done after that, and sounds after that... good thing I take leave next week so I can get this all done.

Work continues on my Prelude. Cleaned out the trunk. Needs new CV boots and a little patch on the exhaust. Not a problem... gonna take care of that tomorrow. Gonna take care of those two things before I drop the sounds in my ride. I still need to wait for my friend to get his DVD player to me, so that will probably happen Monday. I will probably get my vehicle registered next week too... I need to pass a safety inspection on it, and I have illegal tint... so I'll have to get that done. Interior will get TLC from me tomorrow as well.
This car is definitely a fix it up, but for $3500 off blue book, I can't complain. I'll probably get everything done with about $2500, sounds and all.

You need to swing on by the favorite car thread and post up. Talking about all the quick cars of the old days in that thread has me excited AND depressed all at the same time. I just need a wad of 70 grand and I'd indulge myself with the quickness. Well... now that you mention it, I need some help that you might be able to provide. The idle is rough and it dies when idling when the car is cold. I know that it can happen with manuals, but this car is an automatic. A few fellow Prelude owners have said that there is an idle cable or fast idle or something of that matter that I could take a look at, that it is too loose and just needs to be tightened. Does this ring any bells to you?

Give me about 30 minutes and I should have a solution for you, or a close one. I'm a member of a Corvette Forum and they know everything. I'll post up your problems and see what I get in response. I myself can't tell you what the problem is because my car did not come with a "idle cable", although it does have a tvc cable (throttle valve control). If this is what they're talking about, then pop your hood, and check right where your plastic air intake connects with the throttle boddy. Examine it for a bit and you should see a cable running to it. Disconnect the air duct from the TB and examine the butterfly(s) (swiveling valve on the inside of the throttle body which regulates airflow) as you test and tamper with the idle cable. While you're at it, check the TB butterflies for buildup of carbon as that can pose a problem to the cars performance. Other than that, I'll have you a answer of the probable cause in a little bit.
EDIT: You may have to wait until tomorrow for an answer from these guys. I keep forgetting that not everyone is up at the wee hours of the morning too but these guys are nuts like me, so I don't know.
EDIT2: Wouldn't you know it, the website is down for maintainence until 6 a.m. central time here in the states. Sorry, but if you've got the patience or if you haven't found an answer before tomorrow evening, I'll have some other input from those guys. So the million-dollar question is: should I go? It's 45 miles away. Would you go?
Most likely, those pledges are trying to impress their sisters by seeing who can get the most cock by the end of the party. Well, I wouldn't know because I never went to a university, but that's what the TV blows it up to make it seem.
Just go. Party it up with a bunch of pink tacos.

I'm bored... but it's great doing absolutely nothing. Took leave this week, so I get a whole week of doing nothing...
Enjoy that shit man. It'll be over too soon and you'll regret it if you don't use it.
well, I got hit with a really weird question today at work. there's this old song balled walk the dinosaur by the group Was Not Was and somehow, my manager found out that I knew the dance from the video. Her and a few others kept trying to make me do it, but like a lot of things from the 80s, this was one of things best left in the past. I know they're gonna bug me again tomorrow, so I'm wondering if anyone knows of any websites where I can download videos at? if I burn it to disk and give it to them, that should stave them off for a while.
