Who's "him"?

I used to lurk this thread when it was first created so my memory is blank.

"he who must not be named, lest he return."

there was an old poster here by the name of.........well, several names. one of them was king poseiden I think. his big problem was always starting some of the most retarded flame wars in the history of SRK and probably many other websites. the funny thing was, the late night thread was probably the ONLY thread he didn't infest with his toe-worshiping freakiness. nobody knows why. all I know is, him, kamui gackt, DeafNYCplayer72, and some others would always end up in flame wars (mostly started by "him") that would eventually cause that thread to be locked. no matter how many times he was banned, he would rise from the ashes like a phoenix with mental problems. although he has left, his legacy remains, like that stain on your favorite pair of shoes that no scrubing can remove. Perhaps this kimjongill is his true successor? Only time will tell.............

sometimes you need the existance of people like that so that you can remember the simple fact that your own life could've been worse.

-Starhammer-

...Honestly? Nah, fuck that. I grew out of that stupid phase in high school. I no longer require a clean seat in the stands obsessively surveying the tonka toy lives of pompous slimy playboy understudies like him to gain a half decent perspective on my own life. If anything I've taken notice of his online persona for reasons any normal human being would have which is that of both morbid curiosity and extreme irritation. And unsurprisingly enough, Kim IS a chill poster whenever he leaves the book taught psuedo-alpha male talk, "Kim Chronical-esque" field reports and dollar store bravado at home or exclusively branded in the Women Relationship Thread where such posts were logically intended (instead of hiding behind "free speech" loopholes and agressively taking advantage of every instance where it appears "appropriate" to shove down our throats for the umpteenth thousandth time), but if Bear Ryoma was banned at the drop of a hat for multiple accounts, then how has Jong gotten away with ignoring mod warnings for THIS long? Even Serpent receives infractions for his unwavering brand of keen-edged narcissism and Motoki was flat out banned for his insults toward the community, but Jong is straight? Real life obligations aside SRK has been neutered so viciously, so vividly, so irrefutably tamed since late '03/early '04 I've grown accustomed to early afternoon mod appearances. But still... his tired song and dance remains untouched? That is what bothers me simply because it doesn't make any damn sense. If anything I respect the fact he got off his ass and took charge of his own life, but there is a time and place for everything including meticiously detailed accounts exposing every behavioral defect allowing us to accurately criticize his level of social naivety provided said accounts aren't fictional. Every. Single. Living. Waking. Moment. is certainly not the time and here of all message boards won't be the place, no matter how dedicated your demands are. Hilariously enough... our knee-jerk reaction here is no different than how the real world would perceive and handle you, so why act surprised?

I don't hate the guy.

I have a difficult time believing any of US actually do.

He's not that serious of an annoyance, I just don't understand why blatant trolls and jackassery alike are running rampant given the frequency of mod-poster interaction these days.

But Kim, seriously, this is real talk. Something you're already aware of but somehow refuse to assimilate. This isn't your forum. You don't make the rules here and can't play the victim card when you brought this sort of attention upon yourself. Point blank, you wouldn't have been singled out had you respected the long established etiquette of the forum in the first place, and naturally adhered to it instead of going against the grain to prove a point that only makes sense in your own mind.

Anyway, I personally apologize for adding fuel to the fire and supporting this nonsense because Late Nighters should have go through this bullshit, but I had to say something because I'm tired of it.

I know it's not my forum. I'm not over the attention courting phase of my personal growth yet though, so I'm asking people to bear with me a little. I'm learning new things literally every week, and I honestly find it exciting, that's why I decide to post about it. With certain topics I'm already at the, "Oh, that sounds the same as what I said last time" phase, so I refrain from posting anything.

I'm not joking when I said it's seriously disrespectful and I'm not going to sit back and take the slander if someone is accusing me of something I'm not exclusively guilty of though (that thread being closed). Worst part is, instead of sending a PM or putting my name in front of the post to directly address me/bust my balls like a friend does to another friend, I come to this thread to find out I'm receiving scorn and being hated on without me knowing about it.

I'm about to let it all go now (since I know SRK's military peeps use this thread as their lounge, and I'm very sorry and regretful that I already fucked it up enough as it is), but I'm 100% serious that behavior is not cool with me or any of my friends online or off though.

I treat people with the same dignity and respect I expected to be treated myself. In fact, if someone treats me well, I'll treat them amazing in return. Fuck with or disrespect me, not only are you not getting a Christmas card, you can expect the exact same fucked up treatment (possibly more depending on my current mood) in return.

It's not just a lounge for military peeps. if it was, it would probably say so in the title. Just so happens that alot of the regulars are or prior.

I was just about to just say fuck it and go to bed, but hold on, if nothing else, this is bothering me.

^I remember in the early days of the Girl Thread, Koop laid down his specific guidelines for what he wanted from the thread. At one point, he purged a bunch of Kimjong's posts, and warned him to cut the LJ nonsense or he'd be banned.
This is what got your Depends all up in a bunch, right?

Where the FUCK did I say ANYTHING about YOU being the reason that TOL was closed?

Sep and I were talking about how to potentally moderate the TOL thread. I mentioned this as an example of how Koop handled the Girl Thread. Again, WHERE THE FUCK do I ever say "It was KimJong's fault TOL was closed"?

You just went and assumed that's what I was talking about, when I never placed the blame on you specifically. I challenge you to find me the post where *I* said "It was KimjongiLL's fault TOL got closed." You are not going to find it.

For you to go and assume something about my post that I never came out and actually said AND never even meant...well...to spin a phrase you love using so much, "that's womanly, bitch-like behavior".

Okay.

You see this shit right here?

THIS is the type of post most unlikely to be flamed dispite your history. Why? Because you aren't carrying yourself as some obnoxious know-it-all championship level broad macking nerd-on-nerd crime perpetrating superman, but instead... an actual intelligent individual with an opinion worth taking into account. We've said it time and time again. Your personal growth isn't being scrutinized at all, Kim. Your overbearing eagerness to seemingly redeem yourself by using the rest of us as a canvas, public blog, punching bag AND shoulder to cry on rolled up into a shit covered doggy bag one personal success story at a time... is. That act ALONE is what's fueling the core chunk of dislike toward you. If you must type up field reports and reflect on the female conquests of your day (which was COMPLETELY understandable until, well... now) then all we ask is that you forward them to the appropriate thread from now on. Out of respect for the rest of us at least who don't find you to be a TOTAL jackass already.

If you want us to bear with you then this process has to be a mutual affair. Start making a conscientious effort to restrict your PUA posts to the Relationship thread and you'll be surprised how quickly these sort of negative reactions disappear. That's all we've been saying ever since you started walking on the path to bettering yourself one cooch at a time.

snip.

As for the rest of your post...

I honestly believe you've forgotten how SRK works in general.

We don't do PMs here. Never have and never will. We aren't discrete. We aren't civil. We aren't quiet. It's been that since day one so you can't expect anyone to pull you over and sort out a damn thing. As you've noticed even the ultra non-confrontational types like Million and Azrael won't hesitate to call a spade a fucking spade if it is exactly what it is no matter the time, place, setting or scenario. Real World, this is Kim. Kim, this is Real World. Think about it. Because if you can't handle what's going down in here then the gossip hounds of ANY future job you snag will have a field day with your sensitive ass out there. Tighten up. Start using your instincts and common sense like the rest of us instead putting far too much worth into the information you've absorbed for the past six months or so.

I am off of work tomorrow because of the boat. We had one jet go out (only 8 of us squadron guys went), and we got to "trap" (land) on the flight deck in a C2 cargo plane, for you non-navy guys.

I'm waiting for the misses to come online, she has work in a couple of hours... when she leaves, I think I'ma go play some Strarcraft.. but first, FUCK, I gotta wash this smell off.

 aw man. this post brings back some memories. Yep, I know that berthing smell all too well. I could be 200 years old with five brain cells left, and at least two of them would still remember that. Which aircraft carrier did you go out to? if it was the Ike, May God have mercy upon your berthing smelling soul. It was funny because the japanese people could always tell that I was a sailor simply by how I smelled. I thought it was just BS at first, but one of my english-speaking friends told me the same thing and I finally began to accept it. you said you don't have long left inside IIRC, so don't worry. you won't end up like me and having to scrub that shit off with sandpaper and Lava soap. oh yeah. Lava soap is probably your best bet as part of the airwing. that stuff is the only thing I've known that can remove grease and fuel from your skin. Take care man.

Shrek 3 was good. A little more crass than before, but it still works. Snow White has mad Summoner powers. Funniest scenes IMHO were those with the Gingerbread Boy. So random yet so hilarious.

IMO 2 is still the best though, since Fiona did the spinning bird kick and an SRK near the beginning.

I am doing okay too... But I am about to move in to an apt and I have just begun my car payments/insurance, so things are going to be tight for a long time. But I guess as long as I am getting by, and pocketing just a little money I will be okay.

So yea I have to go and get a public defender tomorrow because I was arrested for cussing out a policeman when I was drunk. The only good though, is that I haven't drank now in over a month...not even a drop. I haven't been that long without alcohol since 2004...seriously. Of course, you Star know that I am a lush too, but I am proud of myself for going so long.

Hell, if I could kick the drugs and the tobacco, who's to say I can't get the drink too?

good going sailor. I know that bottle is a hard thing to kick, but it isn't impossible. As a matter of fact, I've been booze free for most of the month too. A friend brought over a few cans about three weeks ago and there was a few bottles of vodka (a pint instead of a half gallon this time ) and that's been it. Not even enough to stop me from doing any of my normal daily activities. The best part is, I don't feel that unexplainable craving to have a bottle in my hands. Usually if I have one or two I start wanting another one when the bottle goes empty, but it didn't happen this time. I may end up not needing AA after all. I'm still going to go see a doctor, but maybe it won't be as bad as I had thought. I know I'm gonna grab a few when I'm in Florida, but for once I'm not worried that I'll end up handcuffed in the back of a police car or worse. This may just turn out to be my best vacation yet. if all works out right, I'll grab pics and post them up here. ladies beware!! I'm right behind you and watching you shake it!!

Glad to hear that things are going well for you SH.

I'm not doing bad. Don't have as much money as I like/should...but strangely, I'm not nearly as worried about it as I should be.

thanks. as far as money goes, do what I'm gonna start doing next month. two words: Mutual funds. in my case it's pretty simple. I'm gonna cut a few bucks out of the monthly check and have it go into there. this way I don't drink it all up or waste it in some other equally useless way. by the time I think about it again, it'll probably be several times bigger than when I started. before long, the money will be making itself and I can just sit back and enjoy.........................come to think of it, that's what I do anyway. I wanted to get my friends started on the same thing while we were all living together, but they decided to take off and not speak for over a year. ah well, I'll make sure to send them a postcard from wherever I'm at in a few years. The best revenge is indeed to live well.

Yea bro wtf?

I'm not meddling, but I would like to know whats up, if you don't mind sharing.

If it makes you feel any better (which it won't heh), I have to go to court in July for getting arrested for disorderly conduct. That's the second time I have been arrested.

On a lighter note, I have been looking at Blizzard.com with regard to Starcraft 2. Ya'll should check it out, if you haven't already.

OMG. I don't know how I missed this one. Just don't end up getting on cops or I won't let you hear the end of it. I can see it now. you giving some cop the finger and him/her giving you the taser! That was the only thing that made Shore Patrol even halfway decent. Having to drag one of your drunk, incapacitated friends back to the boat so that you could dog his ass all of the next day. unfortunately, none of the cops on base had tasers at the time so I didn't get to see what fried seaman looks like..........................Damn. that just doesn't sound right no matter how you say it.

No, it's definitely NOT cool. I didn't get arrested on base, or by shore patrol. I got arrested by bitch ass, mob-like commonwealth pricks here in Maryland. There's one base here for the Navy, and I made the STUPID decision to go out with some friends to a place where there are as many cops there as there are drunks.

The police personify this immense, unnecessary mob force at this bar... they are like the 3rd Reich there. I got into an argument with another drunk guy, and the cops rushed in and were COMPLETE DICKS, mainly because some state trooper got his ass beat by a drunk earlier that night. Thirty-seven people got arrested that night -- cops were on a serious power trip. But hey, the county has to make money some how.

That lone night makes me resent policemen again.

Well, this is it. If I passed yesterday's exam, that means I'm done with non-thesis college undergraduate stuff forever. I pray and cross my fingers that I passed.

I've been meaning to update my blog with something lengthy and relevent but, there are so many things I want to do. I want to take up art practice again, as well play some games that I've put on the shelf. But it's as if alot of these things will depend on whether or not I get closer to graduation after this summer term. I already talked to the admin about getting an extension, and I was told to return to the vice-chancellor's office on Monday for an interview.

It's just that... I think I'm frustrated with certain folks at the Chem Institute with regards to the last couple of (difficult) subjects that I had to take these past few semesters. I really hope that will come to an end ASAP.

Thanks for saying that. It's just really jarring when I left a shop where everybody was friendly with me (maybe a little too friendly.. like a couple newlywed officers.. how they acted around me made things a little uncomfortable at work.. but that's another story, bottom line is I was on good terms with mostly everybody, only exceptions being that cake incident (http://forums.shoryuken.com/showpost.php?p=2644025&postcount=4172) and the LOR (http://forums.shoryuken.com/showpost.php?p=3238960&postcount=5337)), and entered one where it's a guessing game whether the guy/girl walking past me will answer my "good morning" greeting.. I can deal with a few haters here and there, but when that kind of negativity surrounds you, it wears you out. I expected a more positive vibe from a tropical island.

Hah, I've been reading my old posts in this thread.. and I was bitching about UK the same way I'm bitching about Okinawa now.

Now that I left UK my thoughts are..

- They may give you hell, but got damn.. lots of gorgeous females out there.. well maybe not a lot. Quality over quantity.
- Clubs were shitty, but they had plenty elbow room. Fuck clubs anyway. I outgrew that bullshit.
- My next door neighbor? A BAR. Are your neighbors that cool? I miss getting plastered every Friday without worrying about designated driver and all that.
- If you're American, you'll rupture your liver before you ever outdrink a Brit. That includes the women.
- Not really as dignified as I expected. The pop culture can be REALLY crude and tacky and in your face, worse than what I'm used to from the US. And the arts isn't really as accessible as I thought it would be. I did live near Cambridge though, and they had play theaters and lectures. Other than that, it felt like the classy shit was out of reach unless you had money or status.
- I don't remember ever eating at any restaurant and liking what I ate.
- There's a difference between relics of the Old World and everything looking rotten and unmaintenanced. The part of UK I was in had plenty of the latter. What I saw outside of the Suffolk area seemed to be in better condition. Where I lived, all the buildings looked like a tiled shower with years of caked-on mildew. Bloody depressing. If anyone thought the movie Children of Men looked dreary and disgusting.. where I lived barely looked any different, minus all the end of the world stuff.
- I've never seen so much gotdamn roadkill in my life. Deers, dogs, pheasants, rabbits, crows-- they were all on the ground with their guts out. Yuck.
- Japan really didn't prepare me for living in a foreign country. I never felt so out-of touch with the goings-on in the US than I did in the UK. All the entertainment and fashion is homegrown, and whatever the rest of the world is into trickles in at its leisure. When I visited the US after living in the UK for a year and a half, I didn't recognize anything on TV or what they were selling at the mall. In my first 4 years in Japan I never felt that disconnected.
- I'd probably enjoy it more if it was easier and less expensive for me to get to London. A lot busier and a LOT of diversity. On a weekend in Piccadily Circus, you'll feel like you walked past every walk of life on the planet. That's hands down what I liked the most about England.
- Now that I've come to terms with what the game is in UK.. I could never live there. Not as long as the value of the GBP vs USD is 2:1. I never did so much window shopping in a mall in my life. Completely unaffordable. And fuck that crazy 17% tax you have to pay. That's right seventeen percent. I couldn't live there unless I was getting paid in tax-free Pounds.. and that's not gonna happen unless your name's Bond.
- No matter how bad it got, I'm really glad that I got to see the UK with my own eyes.

The point of that rant is, when I first got to England I was like "everything sucks sucks sucks!" but at the end of the day it was pretty tolerable. Right now my complaints about Okinawa is it's kinda boring and it's full of ignorant fuckheads (and some of these fuckheads are threatening my career, so I actually can't be too patient unfortunately). I'll try my best to be patient and hope that things turn around instead of bitching all the time.

Star, I didn't make the cut with regards to the exam. I think it really sucks and is really unfair, as it was my last academic subject and yet no consideration was given. I honestly think the system here (in that regard) is bullshit.

I've talked to my parents about it already. They told me that, if complaining to the higherups doesn't work, I should look into the possibility of cross-registering with a sister campus of this uni. At least that way I might be able to get away from shitty teachers during my last semester.

Bear,

I didn't bother to reply to the Miss U thread because SK already commented on what you posted for that.

But apparently it was this. I thought someone was dissing your outro, but in actually it was something else (hence the reply there):

http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=121330&page=31

I am sorry if I did not specify the thread or the fact that it was a few months old.

But I noticed there was a time that you were without this outro gimmick cheese, and it was fine:

http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=127071

I do not like poster outro gimmicks in general. Not yours, not quiche's, and not the "im outi" guy, whatever his name is.

===
And for the record, no. I think with regards to this course and exam, a lot of bullshit provisos and questions were added. If you will, it's "unfair-er" than the usual. My classmates feel the same way too, and they too, will have a word about this issue with the higherups.

I have the feeling there's something legitimately wrong, that the standards set for passing the said course are set impossibly high. I have in fact studied long and hard, and yet somehow managed to incur "must pass or fail this exam" status.

I am sorry if that was too much of an LJ post, but I feel that my story here is that it's not just a simple "wah wah I failed" story, although it is a little discouraging just the same.

I guess it's different in the AF.. a standard LOR can hurt your EPR cycle, and your reputation might be screwed for the rest of your time working in the same building, under the right circumstances (I'm under the right circumstances).. but it's not permanent record.. it's pretty much invisible outside of the organization.. of course, it's another writeup or two away from the stuff that follows you everywhere..

yep. that one. When I was still in the navy it was apparently a bigger deal than it is now. I just hope it doesn't cause you any trouble while you're there. Most of the time the command keeps it quiet as long as no other troubles come from it so just keep out of trouble and there shouldn't be anymore problems.

You know what, i think this thread is probably done.

I know there's been low points throughout the years, but I think this one just ended.
I wonder if it started over, would it pick up again?

Also, I picked Stacy Keibler in the poll. The other time when she wasn't in it, I picked Esther Baxter.

I recommend some CDs:

"Every Hog Has It's Day" ~ The Boss Hog Barbarians
^hilarious punch lines and lyrics from J-Zone and Celph Titled. I mean you can straight up tell that they had nothing but fun on this CD. That's what it's all about IMO, having fun with hip-hop.

"Jedi Mind Tricks Presents: The Torture Papers" ~ The Army of the Pharaohs
Apathy, Celph Titled, Esoteric, etc. more of them vicious punch lines.

I just got these off iTunes, yes I like to buy my music from artists and groups I like. I wouldve ordered the actual CDs, but getting mail here can sometimes take up to 2-3 weeks, which is lame. Maybe later on.

The Thinking Out Loud and Lounge thread pretty much tried to make this one obsolete. It used to be just this thread, and the Morning one.

Those were the days right? But I do remember that this thread pretty much took out the Morning one though.

I guess this thread is kind of like Batman(you're right), shit might outlast all of them at some point. Haha this thread seems to be so respected to the point of it having absolutely no trolling whatsoever. You know, maybe the thread is too boring because of that.

I never got into the TOL thread... it became a "blog" posting really quick with people just posting all kinds of shit and no real cohesive discussion going on... there were times were people posted some good stuff, but just felt like a place where people were going just to raise their postcount.

When the TOL first started I was in there, after that people were always saying that that thread deteriorated anyhow, atleast based on the stuff that gets posted here when this thread becomes the refuge. What's also funny is how lately topics have been about those threads, in this thread. I guess that's just how it is.

I find it a shame though that there are a lot of cool posters that only post there mostly, but could be better suited for Late Night, like: Azrael, RetroKid, Deathscythe, Taito, TS, etc.

Either that, or the thread got defended like a fortress. Intruders be scared. They climb the ladder, and we pore hot ass water and tar on them. Oh btw, it's was YahnV's yuri av man! I do know that when he was posting often, I wasn't around in this thread yet.

----------------

You know what though? All in all, I think IRC slowly lowered the quality of GD in general. I remember before people were on #srkgd, GD was a hell of a lot more experimental with random funny etc. Now it seems like a lot of threads are inside jokes and things like that. There's not much to participate on if you don't go into #srkgd, i think that's one reason why alot of my posting had just been in here over the past couple years.

I still check this thread. Late Night was there for me during a rough period in my life and I had nothing else, I'm not gonna forget about that anytime soon.

True, there's a lot of crap in TOL/The Lounge, but sometimes there's good stuff too. It's kind of like having to suffer through a box of bloated and over-sugary cereal just to find the decoder ring inside.

I remember someone had a complaint in here, about how the TOLs moved too fast.
This thread actually has a bit more control, cause it goes so slow now people could post up and go at a decent speed. It's not uncontrollably fast paced where you spend your hour or so reading to catch up and then come back the next day and have to do it again missing out on newer things you mightve wanted to speak on.

Everything's ok over here, got a few personal problems I'm trying to deal with and accept, that came out of nowhere yesterday.

Yeah I've been posting more than I've usually done over the past year. Mainly cause we got wireless commercial internet in this building. So I can browse away, instead of actually doing work. I remember when I was doing tactical(combat arms) stuff I wanted to do this "behind the desk" type stuff instead, but now that I'm actually doing that i'd much rather do tactical. But all in all, i'd rather not do either one.

It's like the military somehow makes being safer, suck. How does that work?

Any word on the vf5 360 release date?
Oh also, have you tried that GGPO thing? How's that?
And btw, what's up with the sudden acceptance of online play? I remember years ago that shit was looked waaaaaay down upon. Had to act like you didn't play online and stuff(as long as you could make it to an occasional tourneys offline though). There was this one guy named Viet Cong that used to be all about the future of the genre being online play and he was flamed to hell back in 03. Now everyone is speaking like that though. Maybe everyone should just do both, in whichever is accessible at the time.

By the way Slide, I just saw this sneak preview of Transformers, and this giant robot was running wild in Qater, blowing shit up. You got any huge robotic scorpions out there?

Yep, we do. Just rammed the SUV into it's left leg on monday and made it kneel. Right now people are in the process of throwing rocks at it's face to make it cry oily tears.:cybot: <- a cyber smiley. there's your use for that.

j/k obviously. The transformers movie? To be honest I'm not excited about it, or really care about it. Even when I was younger I didn't really care too much about Transformers, i liked GI Joe better, but even with all that I was outside running around more than i was watching cartoons. I saw on Amazon though they got the generation 1 boxset with the old movie in it too.

And speaking of DVDs and boxsets, House season 3 is coming out in August! I haven't seen any of season 3 yet, and i purposely avoided that House thread on here cause people just throw around spoilers like combo tips.

I've been up since 7PM Thursday so I figure this should count as late night for me, yeah?

9 HDs are completely nuts.. I have an 80GB drive which skisonic considers absolutely tiny, considering the amount of downloading I do.. I guess i'm just efficient with keeping only the necessaries on my HD that's kept me from ever hitting the "lol ur out of space" line. I mean shit, I keep my program downloads/installers in "c:\fun", like i'm still using DOS prompts.

Also, hey monbaby, what happened to the Chii avatar I liked that one.. took me a second to realize it was you, since I am really used to Chii in your AV.

In more other news, I'm learning CvS2 again, and my fingers on the right hand are kind of in pain, it's settled now that I stopped for a bit, and my left wrist hurts. Totally not cool, but I guess it'll be worth it when I can actually play CvS2 casually at Evo World, and attempt to keep up.

I dunno if its totally accepted. I don't browse FGD much, but it seems like there was some sort of offline vs online civil war brewing.

With arcades quickly becoming a dinosaur of the past, online may have to become the norm if you want to challenge someone in a game. I believe s-kill or someone said once that there are better ways around lag, but most developers just haven't put the time or effort into fixing it. I guess the Cannons have answered the call themselves with GGPO.

It's like how we're also shifting away from arcade standard, to home standard. Not necessarily because we want to, but because we have no other choice.

I think I'll try that out when the PC I'm using at home (the one that replaces this one) isn't an ancient POS.

Til then, I'll keep on with the arcades even if I have to go to the cities 1-2 hours away to do so.

Yeah you're right on that. When I used to play online, i would get people to play in private servers cause that was the best way to go about it that i knew of at the time. I wonder how GGPO is, cause there's nothing but praise about it right now. Be cool if a3 makes it's way to it.

Ha, it might get to that point you're talking about, where online might be the only thing left to set up offline events. Hopefully technology will make it so playing online actually becomes more viable or relevant. Cause it IS easier, and convenient, no matter how you slice it.

It's supposed to be out by the end of the summer. But, I think they're gonna push it back. I haven't been keeping up with the news. All I know is that there are rumors about online play. It may not be actual online play at all. Probably downloadable content like T5DR on the PSP with the downloadable ghosts and whatnot.

Oh also, have you tried that GGPO thing? How's that?

It's like your private server, but much much better. No input lag at all with my converter. The lag exists in the game itself. But, when it's lagless it's VERY good. Everything works for me online. Tick throws and whatnot. Here's hoping ST gets on that shit soon. You'll love it. A3 will be a lot better, too.

A2 CCs come out flawlessly on GGPO. Like butter.

It's only becoming a LOT more acceptible due to GGPO. You have your Kaillera scrubs that want to stir up shit, but they don't play on GGPO for obvious reasons(i.e. lag tactics not being abusable on GGPO).

The netcoding on GGPO is too fucking ridiculous. It's basically what Kaillera should have been by this point in time. And yeah, everyone should do both. If you're not attending a tourney, get in some games online to level up a bit and vice versa.

lol @ you not wanting to work at all. The countdown to Operation: Free Slide '08 is nearing it's end(I hope).

As for me, it's time to start prepping hardcore for EVO World. I have to get good in CvS2 by August. Wish me luck. I added the following characters to my ST character selection:

True. We all look back fondly on the arcades, but the truth is that they weren't perfect. They were cramped and smelly. It meant long hours standing on your feet. Broken controls and owners who were slow to fix them. Machine ate your quarter. Having to get there, back, and depend on the arcades schedule. Etc.

Having good online play would let people play each other no matter where they are. You could always find good comp when you wanted it, how you wanted it. No more standing around for hours. Play on your specific pad or stick or whatever you like.

The biggest drawback of online is the atmosphere - which was the thing arcades excelled at. Standing around with a group of guys who had a similar interest. Pulling off an awesome combo, or comeback win, and knowing there was a crowd to witness it. Watching a more skilled player show you how it's done. The atmosphere was awesome, but with arcades dying anyway, it's just something that can't be helped.

Everything is (slowly) shifting to consoles anyway - net play is just the next step from there.

Why so many characters?
When I first came to Japan, I developed the one-character mindset. I kind of had to - all these guys were bringing A-game, and I couldn't bring anything less.

I think though its good to play as other characters. Add some variety to your arsenal - if your rushdown character isn't working, then switch up to your defensive char. Also, I think that there's no better way to know how a character works than to actually use them - helps when you're fighting against said character if you how the player is thinking.

You know what, I think this can actually apply to other aspects of everyday living, too. Stuff is just not going to be the same as it was. Is it better? I can't even tell anymore, cause sometimes convenience outweighs many things.

To add on to what you're saying about the arcade atmosphere; playing in a friend's basement or something similar to that is the same way. I mean as far as the pos/neg points you brought up about arcade play. One thing is that say Friend A is sick and can't come out to play or come over to play or whatever, if online play was made to a great standard then you could still get those games in with Friend A now, even though he's too ill to leave his home that day.

But to continue on to what I was saying about how it can actually apply to other parts of living besides gaming. I mean, one of the best aspects of arcade play etc. was the social atmosphere, can't really top that. Now days though, people don't even go out to meet people, they meet them over myspace or facebook or whatever and then go from there. Who are we to say that going out to meet someone or meeting them on the internet is better than the other? It's another thing where convenience makes an appearance.

Take it to another category, like education. People can take college courses and actually get a degree online. I see a big positive with something like this now(before, i didn't), cause now you can bypass some social hierarchy and racial biases, due to the anonymity of schooling online. But just like with gaming, there's the opportunity for cheaters to be really successful cause it's hard for people to catch them.

All in all though, stuff like this is kind of one of those things that's difficult for people to accept, cause maybe they're used to one way and can't handle the other, or nostalgia takes place or maybe the opposite of that.

I'm starting to think that nowdays it's getting to the point where both need to coexist no matter what though, in order for both to thrive. I don't really see one making the other obsolete now, and technology has also made it so you can't live without stuff we didn't have before. Look at cell phones, can't really function properly with today's standards without them now? They've become far to important now.

I guess bottom line is, in today's standards, the internet/online is a complement, especially in today's standards. In the end though, if you neglect real life you've got or will have a problem, shit is foundation. <- kind of funny how all of that lead to an already known bottom line. Oh well.

Couldn't agree more.
For me though, I just have my main primary that i try to handle any and everything with. But when you hit that glass ceiling you need that other character that can handle those problems.

Speaking of that though, I remember there was always that guy that always had a problem with someone picking the same character over and over again.

Why so many characters?

I just play Chun in ST. The O.Sagat and Sim matches are really tough though.
I do use a lil Guile/Ken/Ryu though, but just some shenanigans.

By your selection, you might aswell put Vega in there too

Vega is one of them. I just didn't list him because he's my true main. But, I like to have options when I play.

IS THAT SO WRONG, SLIDE?!

I've made it to hangover city unannounced. 5 or six drinks and I was slightly buzzed enough to help out my sister's drunken co-worker. She has a posse. I must be the Quai Chang Kaine equivalent when I'm 10% close to plastered. Helped out this white kid leave with one number. Him and his Justin Long-like friends. The dood was 19. They loved my shirt. It was "The Wingman" in a Top Gun form. The liked it. Heck, everyone I ran into UN-FOB liked it. I just passed through with a "I work here. It's my job" to explain it. They laughed. Nearly got away from a cougar, but she followed me all night.

So I danced a bit. Some old asian dood was dancing with his younger wife there. I'm like

"Dood, you kids need to calm down!"

He says "I OWN THIS SHIT! SHE'S MINE!" and continues his little something something that he picked up from his birth year relics. It was a version of the twist that people should stay away from seeing. Eagle Eye Edmund's brother, I assume.

Mysteriously, I am still alive from the cougar attack of that night. She didn't look that bad, but heck she didn't look all that good either. Still, nice to have around. Her and her ninja naked friend. Actually, her friend needs her own friends to play with. Scared my buddy shitless. "She actually did it. Outside. In the park" I hear his terrifying voice. I couldn't help but look away. His age bracket alone is scary. I must have been Tevin Campell to these plastered broads. Never again am I following his nose. Lead me into a COUGAR DEN!

Oh, and a big SCRU-U goes out to Tim Horton's, post stamped from your's falsely, for ruining my night. " TOO EARLY FOR BREAKFAST?! I don't want just hot chocolate, I want a freaken Breakfast Sandwich! Can't you see I'm hustling these broads out of 4.99?" my inner Sakura had to deal. Heineken is something I can't say NO to fully.

Get back home pretty messed and bruised and forgive me I must remove this post because it belongs in Late Night. What's funny is that I was watching RoadHouse before I left.

You guys heard this new Kat Deluna song? Whine up? (Link (http://www.veoh.com/videos/v10205323P2McDjw)) Not a big fan of the song in the first place, or the girl... but she looks like a girl who was fat as fuck before who was forced to lose massive weight after "making it." She still has that face of a fatty, like if her records flop she'll end up eating her sadness away. On top of that, I feel that if you are in a music video, as a general rule of thumb, you should NEVER, EVER have backup dancers and people in the video who are hotter than you. That just makes you look even worse, which is what is going on in this video.

Speaking of detail, I got a week left in Qatar, and when i get back to the states I'm going to try and get the billeting detail again, like last year. I got 4 1/2 months left anyway.

It's actually not that bad... while on the detail I'm off all the staff duty rosters. Not like I do shit anyway anymore - I leave early everyday and sometimes I don't even show up. First Sergeant is my first line supervisor now, and my command is pretty much leaving me alone. If I choose not to go to work, hell, I don't have to go and I never really get into any trouble. I don't even go to any training anymore unless I'm giving the class... I just stroll into the orderly room and sign my name on all the sign in sheets and go home.

Although getting into the shit I got into was bad, it definitely made my job easy. No longer am I in command of a platoon, no more soldiers to worry about, no nothing. It's great. The funeral detail actually gives me something to do that makes me look like I'm busy all the time.

Army Details, can certainly be better than your actual job. It's kind of retarded, but I'm not complaining. For me with 4 months left I don't know what else they'd have me do too, there's nothing left for me to do but rush my ACAP.

The stigma of billeting or the mail room, is a shitbag job. Which it's not, but that's the understanding people get about it. I just volunteer for it, cause everyone that works in it, or has worked in it, agree it's the best jobs they've had in the military on base.

I can handle my liquor. LIAR! Remember, 3 more games and the Yankees are 2 out of first place. 14 beers each....ftw.

Also, GO PHILLY! The Mets are done. Real talk. To think, whichever one falls into the Wild Card goes home early because it looks like the Padres are NOT letting go of the Wild Card.

And special lolz @ The Brew Crew. THEY'RE DONE! HAHAHAHAHAHA!

LOL @ 2007 NL Champions. I didn't know Fantasy Baseball extended that far. But you sir, are truly playing Fantasy Baseball if you think your Brew Crew is making it that far. Both the Cubs and Brewers lost last night. NOTHING HAS CHANGED!!

I'll give you this though: The next three days in the NL are gonna be the greatest 3 games EVER played.

We all know whoever comes out of the NL is going to get stomped by the Yankees anyway, though.

But, of course. Son, our B-squad won against Scott Kazmir while the Red Sox's B-squad lost to the Twins. Our bench and bullpen looks TOO buff. Also, the rotation looks to be the following for the ALDS:

Pettite, Wang, Rocket

It seems that the Indians are starting C.C. Sabathia in game 1. Which I think is stupid since he's your BEST pitcher. I don't think you want to throw that out there in game 1 because if they end up losing that game, they have nothing else to throw out there. Remember, 6-0 against the Indians this year.

Wang and Pettite are also slated to start twice in this series if need be. And Boston/LA is gonna be the better series of the two. No lie.

Brew Crew will be the 2007 NL Champs. I'm serious. Get hype.

The Indians have Carmona too, so a five game set with them is something I'd be concerned about. The Yankees have to win at least one game against the both of them to win that series, but I think they can pull it off. I said they were going to the World Series when the season started, and with the way they've been playing, I look like even more of a genius now.

Well, we DID beat Carmona. Sabathia is the only real random factor because he didn't pitch in those two series. AT ALL. So, I have a great deal of confidence in our 1-9 lineup and our pitching staff. I just hope Clemens is able to throw by next week, which I think he should be healed up. Thankfully it was only a hamstring and nothing too drastic.

Boston/L.A. is the five game set that you should be on the lookout for. That's the real epic. Does L.A. have homefield advantage in the ALDS?

RetroKid
09-28-2007, 01:30 PM
Anaheim does not have home field because they've been losing a bunch of games since they clinched the division. The Yankees might end up with a better record than them in the end.

I don't think Clemens will even be used in the ALDS. I see the rotation being Wang, Pettite, Moose. If Clemens is used at all, it'll probably be off the bullpen or if something drastic happens. I don't mind that, though, because I'd rather have Rocket completely healthy for the ALCS/World Series.

Fuck that. You only need a "regular" sleeping schedule if you have school or work early in the mornings - you can stay up late and get your few hours of sleep early in the morning. I guess it's a little different for me since late night for the rest of the United States is early as fuck for me, because of time differences. It's not even 11PM over here yet. I still stay up pretty late even though I have to wake up around 5AM almost every day.

Yeah, I typically sleep from 2AM-7AM everyday. Sometimes as late as 3AM. I have periods during the day when I'm sleepy, but that seems to happen even if I do get 8+ hours of sleep. I need those extra awake hours anyway. One day just isn't long enough.

I sleep from around midnight to 5AM, give or take an hour or two. I think it might just be the military lifestyle rhythm. I'll crash on the weekends (mostly Saturdays only now, since I wake up early on Sundays to catch football games... stupid time difference) and sleep in sometimes though, but I think that's more a side effect from getting wasted on Friday nights.

This last Friday I went out for my friend's birthday and got tore up. I don't even remember how I got home - on top of that, apparently not only did I drive myself home, but I stopped to get something to eat, ate half of it, put it in my refrigerator, wore this huge balloon hat home (partied at a Cancun style club where they blow up balloon hats for you), got online and messed with my fantasy football rosters, AND started my laundry.

I didn't even realize it and put it all together until I woke up the next morning... er... noon.

Shamming 101.

Take it from me guys, I've been selected in the draft, and now I'm pro.

So I've been working on my chapter 5(early out due to college/university) discharge. Gotta get college acceptance, which is to Art Institute Washington(Arlington/Alexandria in VA). Last week before the weekend I told my supervisors that I'll be working on my college acceptance stuff and going to the education center and whatnot all next week, aswell as trying to set up for ACAP(which is military to civilian life transition classes and prep for leaving the military).

All of this for today could probably get done in a span of 2 hours or so... but i'm going to take the entire day to do it.

Why?

Cause I'm a professional.
A pro. You follow?

I was up kind of late last night playing 3s and Guilty Gear, so I'm a lil bit tired especially after doing PT(physical training) while being tired too. So I'll be going back to sleep in a bit, instead of being at the motor pool.

Bottom line, when you want to sham on the job plan it ahead of time getting the word in on what your plans are going to be the following days ahead. Once those days come around, call your supervisors to let them know that's what you're doing. After that, you're good to go.

Once you've realized that work(or no work at all) gets done with or without you, only then will you understand your ability to sham.

Ducky, this is pretty laughable, check this:

So yesterday as you know I was "working" on my Art Institute admissions, even though what I would've did yesterday I did on monday. Anyway this morning I go out for PT formation and NO ONE is there. I call my supervisor and he's like oh shit on wednesday's everyone usually meets somewhere else. The reason this guy wasn't there though was cause he's working staff duty all week. So I told him though that today I was going to continue doing what I was doing, and what I've gotten completed thus far.

I've been in this headquarters company a week, and I've still ->

Have yet to inprocess.
Go back to SRC for redeployment check.
Work half day schedule for 2 weeks(which is supposed to be a redeployment requirement).
Get presented with an opportunity to take leave.
Get councelling on being in the headquarters company and what I need to do etc.

That's cool though, cause I mean the more they leave me alone the better. I'm trying to get my ass out of the Army Dec 14th. They should just leave me to my own devices. I could've still been in Qatar making tax free money and they wouldn't have me as an extra, I'm back here early to do this stuff. So pretty much I'm saying this, cause if they throw fits for any reason it'd be kind of pathetic. And I don't think they would, cause they seemed to be pretty cool. But I never can tell with some of these people, they act funny.

Both Guy and Maki are running to go kick some ass in SF4. So I'm expecting Maki to catch up too so she's in the game if Guy gets in the game. And her breasts are both bouncing and it's also an illusion cause when you just saw her running last, she's way past that spot and is running way further ahead at this point. And, even if they can't get a theme song, they'll steal Akuma's 3rd strike one, cause that was the best shit on that game.

Hey Ducky in the end the MRE I think that's the best tasting was the sloppy joe one, it's some brand new shit, don't actually know how long it's going to take the entire military or even Army to catch up with the new ones though, cause I heard they've been out for a while but I only had it once, but it's not like I eat MREs all the time anyway. I've had the sloppy joe a few times. I didn't think it was that good. I think the best item out of the new menu is the jambalaya... with the classic chili mac being way up there too. Sometimes you have no choice but to eat MREs during deployments though... although steak and lobster after completing a mission is dope, I never had the luxury of having DFAC's wherever I went. The only MREs I didn't mind too much were the cold weather MREs.

Yeah chili mac is always top tier, but the sloppy joe one man it tasted real good. I usually eat my MREs cold and don't bother heating them up cause it takes too long. Even when I was in Iraq we ate MREs for like the first 2 weeks and was like fuck this shit, we'll just eat before and after, or take other food with us instead of MREs(especially since the camp ran out of them anyway).

The longest period I had to eat MREs was just during the training cycles.

I heat my MRE's when I can, since they tend to taste better heated. I've never met anyone who could heat that burrito up though... I'm pretty sure it could substitute for a SAPI plate. I've been tempted to use 100mph tape to secure them to HMMWV's just to see if they can withstand IED blasts. I'm pretty sure the burrito would survive.

I used to know this one guy that put the MEAL into the heater packet and ate it like that. He was an idiot. Cause the heater is bad for you, his ravioli was pasta red and heater pack grey shit looked awful but he kept eating it anyway.

Haha @ it being a SAPI plate, I bet most of the meals in the MREs could take, slow down, or melt shrapnel.
