I stopped watching Blood+ around episode 10 or something.

Did the quality hold up the entire way through?

Really the only reason I bothered watching was because of the first 2 two minutes of the first episode.

Blood+ is the best anime of 2005-06 and one of the best anime in years. The show's plot is deep and well written and the animation is top notch. It's a show that you really have to pay close attention to when watching it just to make sure you don't miss anything.

12 Kingdom's never seen, never heard of "Summer Sunset" either. As for Ninja scroll, I don't really like the movie that much and I've heard too many bad things about the series so I haven't even seen it.

fate/stay night is pretty popular, it's a pretty good series though some stuff coulda been better =/

WHHAAA?!?!? I've seen this movie soooo many times I just put in Japanese with no subtitles(do that with a couple other anime as well) I've seen this so much. I still say (like back in the day) that it's still one of the best action movies period. Everything just meshed well together that's it's really hard to duplicate.

There was supposed to be sequel coming out later this year but it's looking doubtful. Yoshiaki Kawajiri and MadHouse are back on it as well. If anyone asks for a source, it's found in the Kawajiri interview on the 10th Anniversary Edition.

and no Ninja Resurrection is not the sequel. ADV lied.

IMO the quality dropped a little around the middle, I had to make myself download episodes to keep up since it was getting a little boring. The action was never really great either. Still, at about the halfway point things start picking up again and getting a bit better and had a good ending so it's good, but best from 2005-06? No way.

Ninja Ressurection was entirely unrelated to Ninja Scroll. They may have advertized otherwise, but in reality they had nothing to do with each other.

Warpticon

What the hell are you expecting to get out of it? Its target audience is children half your age with a fascination for American Football, where as to you it's likely nothing much. They just throw crazy fucking techniques at everyone in there and Sena keeps getting faster and faster, that's it. Take it for what it is, simple, energetic, and fun.

;p

Dude, I watched all of Prince of Tennis and Buzzer Beater (BUZZER BEATER, damnit), you don't need to preach to me about taking sports anime too seriously or it being over the top. I'd just like, again, a) the characters to be interesting, and b) the football to at least vaguely resemble football. I watched 8 episodes (through the end of the first game) and was thoroughly unimpressed and annoyed at those things that I realized that the only reason I was considering still watching was because I was curious about that really enthusiastic cheerleader in the intro's story. But so many people are into it that I figured I'd give it a second shot *assuming* I had something to actually look forward to (IE, over-the-top but nevertheless actual football, some degree of plot, character development, or some crazy other element I hadn't anticipated). That's what I'm expecting to get out of it.

everybody was shocked when sony said they had it

the only
they brought out cyborg009, and astro boy tv which if i remember right they were edited,
which is people are holding ther breath and crossing fingers over blood tv.

i wish sony would had cross license it with say geneon or bandai or company with some knowledge of how to bring over a show.

perfect example is fmp2draid where funi/adv is bring out this show where funi handles the the disturabtion of it , while adv does the progarming of it..
( oh don't be shocked if the same doesn;t happan to Haruhi Suzumiya )

I know it wasn't but it dose look liek it =/

After reading threw the manga of naruto today i think that all these fillers are comming out in order to give the manga time to get ahead , the plots of the anime could have completely differed from the intended plot of the manga, or would have been cancelled completely, both of which have happened to several other manga-adapted anime series (for instance, Rurouni Kenshin)

this is sorta just my opinion and a bit of it is form wikipedias summery of the ani,e.

what is your guys take on this?

Gasaraki
09-25-2006, 07:23 PM
That is EXACTLY the reason. That's almost the only reason fillers like that even happen in shonen anime

Dude, I watched all of Prince of Tennis and Buzzer Beater (BUZZER BEATER, damnit), you don't need to preach to me about taking sports anime too seriously or it being over the top. I actually like the characters, but it's possible I've read far enough to see that whereas you might have not since I don't know how far you've read to. As for the football itself, I know practically nothing about football(whether american or normal for that matter) so it doesn't really bother me haha.

So while it doesn't really have actual football, there's plenty of character development, plus the comedy aspect. As for plot, it's a sports manga I'm not sure how you can expect something more than trying to win. If there was some other underlying plot going on besides that it probably wouldn't be a sports manga.

bob gets the shit end of the stick...he's uber powerful but u cant have a black man be too powerful. he better come back with some badness in the new volume.

I noticed that the usa version of Shonen jump often Gives weird translation for moves. Likewhen Naruto doese kaben no jutsu They call it doppelganger attact. I sorta think it sounds better as shadow replica. Or atlest i think thats what its called lol. I'm not trying to jsut point out obvious things here, jsut trying to make conversation.

I just watched the gunbuster sequel and thought it was good, not classic like the original gunbuster though.

*Spoiler coming up*

The ending of the series has the pilots form the orginal gunbuster coming back. In the original time passed slower the farther away from earth you got. Diebuster takes place in the time in between the last battle of the original and the time they spent trying to get back to earth.

Found Slam Dunk. Apparently I have to type it as SlamDunk. On vol.13 and probably get through volume 16 tonight. It's pretty cool and I like how Inoue paced this.

Eyeshield 21 is continues to kick ass. They really need to make a a game(and not just a collection of minigames) for this sereis. The Wii would be bad ass but so would a PS3 version that's cell shaded with as much as detail in the art as the manga has.

I can't decide which team is my favorite tho...Seiubu Wild Gunmen or the Bando Spiders.

"It doesn't really have much to do with the sports. It's because it has every convention of fighting anime, except that they're not fighting; they're playing sports. And that is both entertaining and hilarious."

"So it's Basketball Z?"

i watched bleach 98...just to see if they stopped with the fillers...nope. but i have to say it was a damn good episode. The plot was very throwaway....i assume it was somekind of buildup but it was a cool battle. its defintly worth to just watch for thwe animation not the story but the animation itself.

wasfemto: i think they were showing it on all cw's never saw it before...good anime cute and fun. lol right after it was the black power block....wow ive never seen so many black shows back to back on wb before..or upn.

I'd say that's very likely, but Ranma and Inuysha bored me so as long as those other ones are entirely different in every aspect I'll try em.

Well Urusei Yatsura is quite funny, but devoid of a plot, so there's no worry about 'when the hell are they going to get together or find the jewel or whatever', it's great stuff. It was her first hit, and it's pretty much where her imagination goes fucking BUCK WILD YO so it's always been a huge favorite of mine.

Maison Ikkoku is her best work in my opinion. Highly suggest checking it out.

One Pound is just as good, but not done just yet.

Rumic Theater is a bunch of little stories compiled together.

FMA manga is a good read, better done than the anime.

If you can find it, Imperfect Hero is absurdly cute, as is Because I'm the Goddess!

And yeah, Negima reloaded. 50,000% better.

I'm really glad they did a great job catching the hints of insanity that come up in Light. It was really great. Only things I'm slighty disapointed in are the OP theme which I don't feel sounds right for the mood of the show, and Ryuk didn't seem freaky enough in some of his lines.

Indeed I have. My comments from another forum:

I have to agree there. The theme song from the anime seems more fit for a totally different type of anime altogether. Also as always they dragged out things they really didn’t have to. I wonder who’s going to sub for it? The manga was subbed pretty good , (as far as I know) Did you read the Manga its self? It’s pretty wild how things keep turning out. I don’t want to ruin any thing for any one who might want to pick this Manga up. Some of the parts where Near or L is asking Light questions makes you wonder if its ever any thing but an interrogation. Death note is truly an intense Manga

Wow, you have not read any horror manga at all if you think Berserk qualifies. There's way freakier out there if you're just talking about that. The mere presence of an action based storyline eliminates alot of the freakines anyway since Gutts is the one killing em all.

you might wanna try horror hybrids such as action horror like Supernatural Beast City, Vampire Hunter D and Hellsing. Or if you are into something diffrent try romantic adventure horror like Tsukuyomi or a monster movie like Devilman, Urotsukidoji, Bio-Hunter, and Cybernetics Guardian Saigard. Theres also Straightforward Gothic and atmospheric horror like Vampire Miyu and Gakkou no Kaiden exist, but they're produced relatively rarely. Hope that helps

The Death Note manga ended at chapter 108, with that number being symbolic for some reason. I forget. The 13th volume is actually a "all about Death Note" thing with extras like a name card for L with his real name on it, and profiles for everyone.

The anime hasn't been condensed too much with the first two episodes covering the first two chapters. I personally think 37 episodes would cover the first season, which would be fine by me.

The anime hasn't been condensed too much with the first two episodes covering the first two chapters. I personally think 37 episodes would cover the first season, which would be fine by me.

So...what's L's real name?

It's an odd name, I think someone had analyzed the last name but I can't remember how. I think it was Law=obvious and Liet =left. Like Light=Right and Liet=Left.

A summary of the things in volume 13 are here.

i hate the art...welll not hate but am extremly sadden since he has such good art in yuyu and this is like he took the book off in terms of art. but the story is defintly fun...totally not wut i expected. im only on volume 6 but love it. Also since im trying to push a story kinda similar to yuyu but have been extremly worried about the art...seeing sumtin like this makes me happy that its not always abou ow superb ur art is but in reality you need to have a good story or its worth for not.

What makes you say it's "much more awesome"? just because it's animated?

For the most part I would at least agree with it being so far as good as the same manga chapters, though I do have some small gripes. For one thing, I wish they hadn't made Light seem crazy already since in the early chapters of the manga he just seemed like a highly idealistic young man, but in the anime he already seems out of it. Not a big problem, just aminor gripe. Only other thing that bothers me is while Ryuk's voice is fitting, it's not very freaky in situations where I imagined it to be much moreso.

I wouldn't say it's much more awesome, but I already like the anime more. I think it's because of how everything is animated so smoothly, and there're some good uses of camera and stuff to get a feel of the emotion that single panels capture (not to say more angles = better, but that they're just working well with what they have).

Time will only tell how will it stack up later on. The manga lags quite a bit in places and it'll be in those places that I'm gonig to really compare them to the anime.

PS - Can't wait for "L vs Light = The Tennis Match!" Echizen, eat your heart out !

So after months of waiting, my backordered volumes of Vagabond came in the other day....and ONLY the backordered volumes. I looked on my account and three of the volumes that I ordered that WEREN'T backordered were sent back...in AUGUST. I'm glad I'm moving out of these apt since I've been getting my mail erradictley....oh well it was only three volumes and I sent them an email(in vain) to see if anything can be done about it.

On a ligter note. Already read 17 volumes of Naruto. It's pretty cool so far. Started a new series called Kilico. It's about a detective who's on the hunt for the assasin that killed his big wig older brother. The art style really comes out at you like a cartoon, kinda like how One Piece has that effect, but different art styles.

Caught up with Berserk and Hajime no Ippo. I see Miura joined/started/didsomething with a new studio which is probably better for his health seeing as how the detail in art work keeps skyrocketting.

In the back of one of the volumes of the Vagabond's there was ads for VIZ's other manga in the "VIZ Signature" series. There is one called The Drifting Classroom. About to read the second volume that was scanlated by the Hawks. It's pretty interesting so far and you can tell the old schoolness by the art and dialouge, this is the scanlated one mind you. About a bunch of gradeschoolers and their teachers being sucked into another dimension. So far two deaths. One little girl jumped to her death and another ran out of the school grounds and just keeled over. Seeing as how the Signature line doesn't get fucked with(Vagabond, Golgo13) I'm probably gonna be picking these up. The manga-ka also did Orochi:Blood. Haven't read it though.

It's original art from this artist: http://www.hws.tank.jp/htm/Top.htm

It's in Japanese so it'll take some searching. Also the pics aren't actually in his gallery, they're in the left brown colored column with all the month abbreviations. He's got alot of good stuff.

Eyeshield 21 is awesome, it's totally over-the-top though so don't expect much to be remotely similar to real american football, but that's not what makes it cool.

Eureka seveN spoilers:

The person who discovered(I think) and took care of Eureka was Renton's father, Adrock. This is important because Eureka is indirectly responsible for making Ray infertile, so she cannot have kids. Considering that Charles and Ray had been thinking of Renton as a son, this is of course a huge shock that the people they hate(specifically Eureka in Ray's case) are related/known to him. As for Charles resembleing Renton, there's no story reason behind it, I don't know exactly why they did that

Bleach. Man, I've liked this series since ep 1. Not gonna start picking up the manga but if I keep getting into it the way I am, I just might.

I know some people are hating on the Naruto dub, but I think it's pretty good. Garaa's voice is even darker than I expected it to be. Overall, I've yet to come across a voice I really haven't liked.

i've been reading sumomomomomomo since the summer. i've only watched the first 2 episodes, but they did a surprising good job of translating the manga onto screen.

i don't know how far in the story they plan to go, but the thing is... in the manga (up to volume 5 now) the story feels like it's barely getting started. and as hard to believe may it seem, it will shift to serious-mode around volume 4.

any general import book store should do. if you want to use a stateside-based retailer, try asahiya.

magazine back issues might be hard to get, though... especially since most retailers/distributors remove them from their inventories fairly quickly after they are a issue or two old. the only reliable way to get back issues of magazines is from the publishers themselves, and i'm not sure if most of those sites take international orders.

She puts all she has into her work, and is known as a strong, straight-forward working girl, who can at will turn herself into Hataraki man (working man) mode. Despite Hiroko's success at work, her life lacks romance. Even though a hard worker, she'd leave early anytime to go on a date. Too bad her boyfriend is even bigger a workaholic than Hiroko.

Did I mention I finished Wolf's Rain months ago? :P Great series though a sad ending, specially Kiba stating/admitting that there is no paradise, but IMO, unbeknowst to him at least, he helped CREATE Paradise.

If you haven't read the Hellsing manga, do ur self a favour and read it, it's about as bloody and filled with killing-crazed ppl just like Berserk Harkonnen II FTMFW!

Also read or watch Detective Conan if you like mystery, undoubtly one of the greatest series ever!

Maison Ikkoku and KoR are totally different in story. As far as character designs go, that was just the style for that type of genre back in the 80's I guess.

I'm kinda miffed that I didn't pick up the last of the boxsets for the TV series of KoR. The manga is awesome shit tho'.

Tempest: The thinpaks don't have the booklets with them tho' which is also why I wanted the individual volumes, for Azu.

oh yea well just luck for you rightsuf having adv sale so it be great time get them. i can't wait see see how they handle sgt frog when they release it here next srping.

I second Hataraki Man, it's cool stuff.

Also alot of slice of life series in anime almost always have some slight magic or fantasy element. Some examples: Assate no Houkou, Someday's Dreamers, ARIA, Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou(only has an OVA, but the manga is excellent), and some others.

Okay, I need a list of good slice-of-life shows. No magical powers, no fighting tournaments, just people living. Romance is cool, but stuff that doesn't especially center on romance is equally good (and a lot rarer).

I say...

ARIA
Kamichu!

I assume lots of people also said Honey & Clover too

So, I finally came around to buying Crusher Joe on DVD. I saw the movie and my fucking God was that awesomeness in the form of a 2 hour movie. I need to sit down and watch the OVAs though. It was too good.

I have the Gantz anime. Not sure if you've seen it, but if so can you tell me if the manga is different enough from the anime for it to be worth picking up, or if it continues the story further? Samurai Seven is great. I love the LE dvd's.

The Gantz manga goes on waaaaaaaaaaay past where the anime leaves off, and pretty much the last episode and a half don't happen.

What is Hellsing Ultimate exactly? Please tell me there's more to the ending now than in the original release. I'm not as up to date right now as I normally am with anime so please exuse my lack of knowledge.

Hellsing Ultimate is a work in progess, and OVA adaptation that sticks MUCH closer to the manga. There's only 2 episodes out but they're 42 and 50 minutes long and most likely there will be another 7 or so episodes if they really plan to follow the manga all the way. Also, although they are sticking very close to the source they sometimes add some more action scenes which are VERY impressive. This isn't even comparable to Gonzo's TV version.

Oh, yes. Black Lagoon: The Second Barrage is freaking fantastic. Incredibly intertaining, some hints at background story, and it's HILARIOUS. Ep 19 is especially funny with all the English being spoken throughout. I like how "bullshit" is fine to say, but "fuck" gets muted out. :D Also, Revy in a skirt and stockings.

That's great news. I actually loved the Gonzo version up until the ending. So if that isn't even comparible I'll probably love this. Alucard is such a badass and one of my favorite characters ever. I've only seen the Gonzo anime though. I guess I'm going to have to get the manga and the Ultimate's.

Has anyone here read Loveless? I picked up the first volume on the fly without knowing anything about it. It's pretty strange but I like that sometimes. Overall though I wasn't that impressed from the first volume. Does it get good?

the new ova follows manga very well, i think the eps be like either 10 or 12 eps long. i'm happy the ova spend more time in showing the other charcaters, and showing sara turning into a baddass.

If the anime is anything to go by, doubt it.

I hope to have a couple of collections completed before the end of the year, anime wise.

Main ones being Maison Ikkoku, Azumanga and Giant Robo.

i was actually thinking that gantz might originally have been planned to be a really long-running anime, but then got cut off after it didn't fare well as they expected...

Yea Im into that kinna stuff. The first was ok, but doesnt capture the badass fighting I like. I saw a short clip where alucard drives his fist through the guys chest. I want to be an action director and thats the kinna moves I like to put in my movies (like versus) are there any more scenes like this or was I just lucky watching that one clip.
