You're totally wrong. =/
The US gets many, many of those "violent sexual" titles because the stuff that doesn't come over here is stuff like ARIA, Asatte no Houkou, and hell, the fact that Mushishi got liscenced is practically a miracle. we get some violent stuff, but we wont get Guyver or Baki on TV. As for sexual shows like girls bravo and Ranma 1/2 I dont think will ever come here on tv also.
Oh and ya if we get violent anime we turn it into shit like DBZ on cartoon network.

I really think that a few things sort of contradicted its self in the manga. I remember Ryuuki saying to Light that he wouldn't help him out. Yet a few times he actually did. There’s other small things that bothered me, but all in all the anime was really compelling and very engrossing. The way that L was going about catching Light was really out standing. I mean even when there was no reason that Light could be suspected of being Kira L still didn't let up.
Him dying left the series bar though IMO. Its like when they introduce Near and Mellow they sort of didn't have the same strong presence that L did. Also Near wasn't as smart as L was. He seemed more full of him self then smart. This is probably my fav manga how ever

No, they won't put it out because it won't get ratings. Anime on TV just does not get very high ratings in general. Less so with series like Guyver and Baki
Besides, I don't know about you, but I prefer the quality of DVD's over TV easily. I don't even really watch anime on TV because the picture isn't as good, the sound isn't as good, I can't choose how I want to listen to it, I have to deal with commercials, and I have to stick to viewing it on their schedule.

Well, Ryuk was basically saying he doesn't have to help him, anything he would do, he would do on a whim and for the sake of making the situation "intresting".
Near SAID himself that he was not quite L's level. He said that Mello's last clue had helped him surpass L and so in effect Near and Mello together could be superior.
Also, I recommend you read Monster and 20th Century Boys. Those are very good mystery/suspense manga

The TV series? Incomparibly so.
The OVA's on the other hand are just as good as the manga, since it follows the manga very closely.

its also we cant get a lot of good anime cause its too violent, sexual, or cussing. Its the way of the hypocrite mothers who rule America and blame everything that's not part of there way of thinking.
:wtf:This is the majority of anime sold in the U.S. I wish the anime market here was more diverse, but it'll come with time.
Gonna pick up the rest of Cromartie High School and Azumanga Daioh pretty soon on dvd.
Showed Apocalypse Zero to a group of friends. They got a kick out of it. The show kicks ass, fuck what ya heard. Anyone read the manga?
Ever slowly thinking about getting into Death Note....
Still need to start up Space Runaways Ideon....
I wish U.S. companies what would put kana/kanji instead of romanji for their subtitled songs when not translated into english, but that's me.

I have a question that hopefully you anime gurus might know something about. I would like to know the differences between the two different DVD releases of the Tenchi Muyo ova episodes 1-13.
The earlier version is sort of a boxset containing 3 discs. One disc had eps 1-7, another had 8-13, and the last disc was a Tenchi info encyclopedia. This was before Pioneer became Geneon.
After Pioneer changed to Geneon, they released newer Tenchi ova DVDs of the same exact episodes, but as separate volumes, with lesser amount of episodes per disc, compared to the earlier Pioneer DVDs.
My question is: What are the differences between the two releases in terms of quality and content?

dude, the worst expierence I had was watching a friend's HK 'bootleg boxset' that had subs mistimed so bad that it had to be 4-5 seconds ahead. Normally this isn't much of a problem, I've watched shit in much worse conditions, except that this time around I was watching EXCEL SAGA.
Yeah, go ahead and let that sink in.

I wouldn't think so. I just think it's Geneon being greedy/doing what other companies do and only releasing 3-4 episodes per DVD.

I share the same views. I like the fact that more Anime is on tv, it was pretty scarce in the early 90's. I remember having to rent animes all the time cuz I didn't have the money to own many of them.
What do you guys think about buying bootleg DVDs? I have gone and bought the official (is that what they're called? lol) DVDs over the bootlegs and wonder now if it's even worth it. So I wanted to see what all of your inputs are on this, whether you get bootleg or not.

I dont get bootleg just cause of the moral issues of it. I dont like pirating and if i bought bootleg i'd be supporting pirates. I'd rather give the money where its due.
And i just usually dont buy a series unless it hits boxset anyways unless its REALLY friggin good.

Like if you buy a anime dvd boot leg you dont know if its going to work or not. I tried it once and got Fate/stay night and at ep 5 all the way up it skips on every ep, so I had to send it back for other copy that works. And im still waiting for my new copy. The reason Id buy bootleg is cause some animes are overpriced, like $20 for 3 or 4 eps? What a rip off.

Never buy bootlegs, not just cause the moral issue, but because quality is HORRIBLE. Subs are translated twice from JP to Chinese to English and it makes things very hard to understand, let alone that sometimes as was mentioned, they're even mis-timed. Do not waste your money on them

I watched up to the first game of the Eyeshield anime. The football action was amazingly, dumbfoundingly awful. I ended up giving it up. If you watch it, don't do it expecting realism or even a PoT-ish over-the-top interpretation, or you'll be sorely disappointed.

Yeah, Eyeshield reminds me of Slam Dunk. I only watched a couple episodes whenever they were on TV, but EVERY SINGLE PLAY took like, 15 minutes and it was always like, everyone was super super surprised and shocked whenever anything happened. It goes soooo slow and everything is super overdramatic and really very unrealistic for football. But hey, if it was just football, Japanese people wouldnt watch it. XD
And yeah, subtitles are terrible for bootlegs. The english is so bad and even characters names are sometimes literally translated. Fruits Basket is an example: Momiji's name was translated as like, "Red Leaf" or something, so whenever his name would show up, it showed "Red Leaf" instead. And also, theyll sometimes mess up letters, like, an o might in place of an a. This type of thing might show up:
I dom't hare anymare to gtve yov.
Granted, while its normally not that many in one sentence, it happens quite often where one letter that looks a bit similar to another is in place.
So you're always reminded that you bought bootleg because the subs sure as hell arent gonna let you forget it. R1 all the way. =P

Oh man, I want the One Piece bootlegs specifically for the awesome, awesome horrible translations. Inparticular, the words they just make up. Like "afterbrain." Example of usage: Usopp gets hit in the back of the head. "OW, MY AFTERBRAIN!" he exclaims.
And, oh yeah. In the episodes of Eyeshield I watched, there was never, ever any mention of a first down. it was RUNRUNRUNRUNRUN Oh shit, it's that magical tackle! Since he didn't score on that play, the other team was victorious! There's a change of posession with no explanation whatsoever! This guy just ran for 120 yards on 3 plays without scoring somehow! What the fuck!

Well I ended up with both and I would recommend the 3-disc set. They're basically the same in quality. I didn't notice any differences except for the sound being slightly better on the 3-disc set. Plus the packaging is much nicer and you get the bonus disc of course. I was thinking the quality would've been better on the signature series dvd's, but they're basically the same.

Thanks for the info. Tenchi is one of my favorite series, due to the music, and it being one of the first anime shows I've seen that didn't completely suck.
I was disappointed overall with the ova episodes 14-20. Too many new characters being introduced, not enough action, and they just kind of threw the answers to all of the plotholes at you out of the blue. At least it concluded the series, finally.

So far I've only watched the first volume. Tenchi is one of the few anime's I've always watched dubbed, so I was really dissapointed that there was a new voice actor for Ryoko. True, while it is funny to see the horrible translations, if im seeing a series for the first time and want to enjoy it, its not gonna happen with bootlegs.

Just got into Death Note, and it is suprisingly good.

Death Note is great.
Although a lot of people like it, I hated the ending.
green green is actually a awesome game series. green green 2 is my fav (prolly cus it had my fav character of the series).
i never saw green green anime, but i know it's based on the first game... and a extra episode after series conclusion came out as a hentai ova i think?

Fucking hilarious in how badly it was drawn? If so then I agree, the characters are some of the ugliest pieces of art ive ever seen. Acctualy when I first saw it, it reminded me of that one eva porno where everyone cums ice cream. It was hideous to look at. And no fate stay night is horrible... drawn badly, story unintresting, and the story lacks common sence as well which makes it even stupider. At least if it was drawn well I could trick myself and get off to it. But no.....

Man Clayton stop talking out of your ass.
Green Green was hilarious because it was five thousand shades of wrong. The main plot was the same typical harem shit, but man the three male side characters were just absurdly fucking crude and it saved the show in every sense of the word. To this day I don't think anything could top the scene of them being stuck in the gym storage room, I mean holy shit I literally hurt myself falling out of my chair laughing with that.
And FS/N is plenty damn good, and it deserves its fandom.
I can't fathom how you can defend a show like Ikkitousen and then bash the likes of FS/N.
Oh wait, I forgot this was your DICK talking.

But... I just cant think of a reason to. I guess ill just h ave to assume the game is just that much more intresting shrug yawn ...

Obviously there are going to be plotholes, it's an adaptation of the game, not a story of its own accord.
And it lacks common 'sence'?
You do realize you're watching anime here, right? What are you expecting out of a show where the spirits of old heroes are brought back to life to fight a way for the holy grail, a chess tournament? A meeting with Congress? The next American Idol?
Outside of a certain character in the show falling for the same shit twice in a row, I don't get how you think it lacks common sense. There's not enough realism in the show? Why are there so many girls with him (LOLZ ANIME)? How does he make shit out of thin air (MAJIK).
Seriously I'm confused now.

if any of you are watching an anime called busou renkin, tell me what is up. should I just abandon this ish? after 14 episodes, it hasn't turned into anything special, but I have the habit of sticking to something once I start. still, this one isn't really delivering the pizza for me if you know what I mean. I was completely hooked on Death Note, but someone yanked that rug out from under me. here's hoping that it comes back and soon.
I guess the only other thing I can ask is, what other new stuff is out there that you guys recomend? I used to be all action, but it seems my mind has opened up a bit and includes suspense and drama too. so lay it on me. what ya got?

Well it's from the guy who did Kenshin (if I'm not mistaken) so I'd stick with it, though I'm not sure if the anime is going in the same direction.
As for new stuff, check out Asatte no Hokou, Code Geass, or even the new Negima (hilarious).

Um, Bleach filler is over, if you didn't know, and it was one of the best filler arcs (after the first part, anyway) I've seen in a long-running series.
Random update on shows I'm following:
Bleach
One Piece
Code Geass
Death Note
Red Garden (is this only 12 eps? Because I could finally finish it up)
Anything else I should be looking out for?
Stuff I'm not currently watching but have earmarked:
* Nana (reading the manga after being stuck on ep 8 for a while = no motivation to watch, so now I'm about 24 episodes behind. This show is really good, as long as you're not afraid of love and emotion and vaginas and stuff.)
* Kanon (liked the first, interested in seeing the rework)
* Twin Spica (started watching it years ago, got stuck, forgot I had it, found out it's supposed to be very good, will have to pick up again eventually)
* Legend of the Galactic Heroes (I'm torn. Central hasn't released a new episode in ages. I have the last 29 eps, but they're some dual-language subbed stuff with questionable English. Should I watch anyway? Or wait and make sure I get full enjoyment?)
* Yakitate!! Japan (I had been reading the manga for a while when the TV show got announced. I watched a couple, and got distracted with the "I've seen this already" aspect. Well, the show went past where I had read, and it's been so long since reading I can't remember anything, so it's approaching the time to start up again.)
* Energon and Cybertron cartoons (I don't even know why I own a TV)
* Mysterious Cities of Gold (I lost the last two tapes I had, so when i found a torrent, I downloaded it all. Now I can't really remember what happened in the first 30 episodes specifically. I just want to see the end, damnit!)
* Gokusen 2 (Just being lazy--3 episodes to go.)
* Sumomo mo Momo mo (again, pretty much just laziness--first two episodes were pretty funny and wrong.)
Random recommendation: if you can find it, grab Momoiro Sisters and Ippatsu Kikimusume. They're 24 and 16 episodes, respectively, with each one being about 3 minutes long, and usually very funny. Ippatsu is kind of condensed, crazier Ebichu-esque, if that gives you any idea.

Bleach- fillers are over

Death Note- read the manga and this series still surprises me
One Piece- they take their sweet time giving you fights
Eyeshield 21- sometimes its more entertaining than the NFL
Strongest Disciple Kenichi- Capcom is coming out with a game based on this
Hitman Reborn- Iono what to say

Seriously I'm confused now.
If all anime was as dum as you were makeing it out to be then there would be no point in watching anything in the first place.... Anyway heres just some random stupid shit about it. And no I dont know all the names so im not gonna quote anything cuz honestly I was pretty bored watching it, but alas I have no life so stuck with it to try and find something in it that is supposedly intresting.....
-First of all the most obvious retarded thing is the whole random sex thing out of no where. Before the sex part supposedly there was only 2 ways to heal sabre but out of no where, well I guess if we fuck you can be better. OOOOOOOOKAAAAY??? Stupid excuse to let them have sex. Also answer this though, what happens when a guy gets a guy servant? Does butt sex count as replenishing energy? What about girl vs girl? One puts on a strap on so that replinishes the energy? Or what about that stupid loli girl and beserker, dont tell me they can have sex, his dick(if it even has one)would probably tear her insides. So basicly im left to assume basicly unless your a guy girl combo, you got fucked in this part of the "war/game/crap thing". To bad....
-Begining of the series they go to that church with that supposedly good guy(who couldnt see this guy was going to be the last boss? Seriously....)yet sabre who is standing right out side cant feel any of the evilness coming out of it? Nor rin? Nor archer? YET, later on in the series sabre is hella far away and she can NOW tell that theres been evil going on in there the whole time. So am I suppose to belive its beacuse her link with shirou wasnt strong so he she couldnt tell back then? Ah... yea right... And if so what about rin and archer? They were just oblvious to it????
-The generic loli girl apperently isnt allowed to go outside but once in a blue moon, yet after berserker dies, she just of course has to start living with shirou. Now what are all our her maids etc whatever doing with her gone? They just said fuck it. Yet for all her life before that they were hella protective of her... Hrmmm of course that makes perfect sence!
-Dunno his name but one guy comes back from being at school, when clearly earlier in the episode they said that the school is closed down. Yet.. he says he was just at the school doing stuff.... How? Its been closed off... Hrmm makes sence to me................... .....
-What is that one school dude with caster or whatever doing the whole time shinji is trying to fuck everyone else up and take there energy. He is just oblivious to it? nothing happend to him? And if nothing is happening to him, youd assume he knows about it, so why isnt he doing anything about shinji? And wouldnt shinji realize that he cant do anything to him? Something shoulda happend between those 2 obviously but again its just forgoten or over looked.
-Again hella generic characters shirou awww narf im so good look at me blah blah, you just killed tons of people come live me har har.... Generic loli girls all that crap... Or to put it simply unintresting characters. And sakura is stupid to, my brother died, but ill never make any mention of it ever.. Nor will anyone else... Makes sence. Rin loves shirou at first, then turns cold blooded kiler for a whole 15 mins only to change back to loving him.... I get it..... ... ....
-sabres a jobber, shes supposeldy the best overall there is but yea of course she jobs to everyone. Theres the whole excuse her link with shirou isnt as strong, but whatever. if shes so great she shouldnt take it in the ass so hard every battle. And why is every other guy so great the best at something or other. Its like ah.... If everyone is unstoppable at some point why even give them these stupid levels which never matter in the first place.
-Supposedly this whole holy grail war has been going on for a long time granting wishes and what not, but in the last episode or around there the guy says the whole game has never even totaly been completed EVER before. And this is the closest its ever been... But wait... I thought they said wishs were being granted before this etc etc for a long time before. And now your telling me this is acctualy the closest its even gotten before? So which is it? And if thats the case how do you know it will even grant a wish in the first place for since the whole thing has never acctualy totaly finished. Whatever all i know is im confused cuz something doesnt make sence... maybe it makes sence in the game..... lol
-Lancer is another jobber, just a means to a end, he serves no purpose. Supposedly nothing can heal from his lance thingy, yet beacuse shirou has the scabbard in him it doesnt work on him. Yet doesnt he die in the very first episode from it? Speaking of that why does rin have to resurrect him in the first place, he shouldnt be dead. There was also something that didnt make sence about the whole fact lancers master was supposedly killed a long time ago according to the blood stains, and rin knows who the master is, but at the begining she didnt know, but then she knew?.... hrmm This ones confuseing I know something didnt click here and contridicted it self, but I didnt feel like watching and compareing episodes again...
-Rin apperently took all her magical crystal things to fight beserker just in case and used them all up... But then just a few episodes later she magicaly has a ton o fthem left just to fight sakura... .But didnt she just use the last of them up on beserker? Huh????
-The one guy with caster apperently can punch holes through walls, concrete what have you, and is fucking up sabre pretty good, but next episode when he fights shirou, shirou is going toe to toe with him, and he even starts honda hurdread hand slapping the shit out of him for a few seconds, yet theres not even a brusie on him. I can understand shirou heals fast, but now hes imprevise to beat downs when one fucking punch knocks sabres shit out? ahhh....?
All stop there cuz im bored and tired, and well as you can see I cant really quote shit cuz I dont feel like going through all the epsiodes again and writeing them all down as they happen, so these are just from my horrible memory.. But yea whatever yawn.... So yea just some stuff off the top of my head...

At first I thought it was about Miss Tai screwing around with furniture.), that was beaten by the Katsou arc, which failed to the Shishi-oh arc, that brought the Oniwaban fights to a shameful resting..

- tempest: Yah, it felt like a bit of a letdown without Saito. Saito was the Leon to Bit Cloud, the Mountain Dew to Pepsi. He ran a good round with Kenshin and is the only person, next to Shogo and Kenshin's master, who could give Kenshin a good run for the money. Even though his is still an anti-hero, it was nice to have him around as the shadow adversary for the hero. He has every intention of killing Himura(and could probably do it), but because of certain obstacles, he comes off as a friendly Piccolo-esque character. I'm surprised that he did not make an appearance during the Feng Sui eps. It would be more logical to throw him in there because it was really a nation's affair.
My other concern is the fact that the characters who want to progress in their fighting ability (Yahiko, Sanosuke, Misao, and Aoshi, to a lesser extent) all know who Kenshin's master is, but sadly, none of them actually attempt to ask him for lessons. I'm just "throwing this out there". Kenshin did beat them all, btw and they did look dumbfounded at his strength and God-like speed and turn into Teias whenever Kenshin does a hiten move i.e. "OMGWTFBBQ! KENSHIN'S SPECIAL ATTACK IS OH SO GREAT!". Yahiko and Sano especially. Yahiko has a fraction of the technique down and all he did was watch Kenshin do that move. Sano probably not because of the different styles, even if he did decide to pick up the sword he had wielded in the earlier episodes. It just looks like a wasted opportunity on Yahiko's behalf since Kenshin did learn Hiten around the same age as Yahiko and Misao, but none of them bothered.
- The Oniwaban group(Okina's members) got shafted big time. These guys are trained ninja from the same group as Aoshi. Regular joes and they only got 1 decent fight in the whole series and it probably lasted 2 mins. Good, but they should have gotten a bit more of a fight.
-The move explanations during rounds was tedious. Try explaining to me why it is so important to do so before you ramble on about the effects of the move. Overall, I did enjoy Kenshin's fights. This is such a gift and curse.
- Karou was also a pain. Always calling his name and not even doing anything to express her REAL feelings for Kenshin. Feeling up his chin, throwing herself at him and alas, no kisses. Sailor Moon had more romantic action than this and it was near jailbait action. Didn't take them so long either.
Highlights?
- Probably that song I love on that show. The fight one that was played after Shisho's demise. Still can't find it, btw. It's the best damn song in the entire series. Strings. Slow pace.
- The animation was quite good.
Fights I enjoyed:
- Kenshin vs. Shisho, Saito, Dark Knight captain, Shogo, Shisho's right hand...kid. Kenshin breaks down everyone.
- Sanosuke vs. Shozo L., Saito, that monk dood, and probably those random mask group guys. He's so cocky.
- Saito vs. that blind guy. Saito's so bad ass.
...that went well.

lets rephase this read the manga and watch the first ova.. the 2d one blows.
i still wish they did the 3rd arc in the anime.

war this is basic plot of it
Paris, 1742. A coffin floats in the shimmering Seine. On the lid, a word written in blood—Psalms. Inside, the body of a beautiful woman. Lia de Beaumont. Now her brother, D’Eon, seeks the reason for her mysterious murder, and uncovers an evil that shadows both the palaces of kings and the dark alleys of Europe. A power wielded by spell-casting Poets, and manipulated by royalty. A force so powerful it brings Lia’s soul back from beyond to seize the only weapon she can possess to avenge her death—her own brother. pretty good series very low key. oh and its from studo IG.

Man. Bleach has always been dope but with Rukia's brother owning Ichigo like nothing and then her going back to the Soul Society... man. The rescue arc is gonna own. I have to read the manga now.
Read the latest Naruto manga chapter. Glad that Naruto himself is finally back in action. As for Naruto anime, the fight I've been wanting to see for the longest time is approaching: Naruto vs. Gara. Read about this fight in the manga but I so want to see it animated.
The music in Eureka 7 is tight. I've seen FLCL and Full Metal Alchemist OSTs but none for E7 so I was wondering if there were any at all.
Ranma 1/2 manga finally finshed over in the states last year. Figured 2006 or so would be the year it finally closed up. I've read books 1-9 and really enjoyed them. Guess I should start collecting the series again but I'd like to catch up on Case Closed manga. I left off on vol. 9 and they already have up to book 14 here.

There's 3 OST's. The first 2 are 2 CD's each and consist of BGM, insert songs(all the electronic music), and the TV size OP's and ED's. The 3rd is the "Complete Best" which is all the full versions of the OP's and ED's, plus "Niji" by Denki Groove(used in the last episode), and the OP of the PS2 game, "Realize" by FLOW, plus a big 50-page booklet of info and art.
The first OST was released along with the first box and I beleive is avilable separately. The second has not come out yet, but probably will soon, and the 3rd I don't think will come over, but we'll see. I don't actually have the 3rd one, so I don't know how good the booklet is, but the case is one of those old double size ones, looks really nice.

Because it's not that bad of a show. It's actually good. There's good characterization going on throughout each episode and you get to learn about each character(the important ones).

^ - K, I'll give it ONE more chance since Mr. 0079 says it's cool. I just couldn't deal with the voice actors and the concept for the mecha. The animation was clean at least, but I couldn't get over the concept. I kept trying to jump over it by actually caring about the characters, but I just kept hurting my nuts.
Skyboarding Mobile Suits? Felt like the game 1080 and the anime MSG SEED went to Vegas, got drunk, hitched, screwed, and tried to get an abortion after they realized that it was a huge mistake, but couldn't so they brought this out. I couldn't digest this one at all because it didn't make much sense to me. Even the first episode of the series didn't. He's the Eureka?

People think it's a boring series within the first 7 or so episodes. Which I don't get because people often bitch about characterization not being there in anime, and yet, when E7 gives it to you, people bitch about it. People forget that FMA started out the same way and it didn't start to really get to it's core point until the teen episodes.
BTW, I'm not a big fan of Bleach(just thought I'd throw that out in the open to piss off Tuff). The manga was alright, but, it turned me off pretty quickly.

Glad I got the box for it, I just need to fill it up.
Is Galaxy Express 999 still being fansubbed? VIZ doesn't release the manga in it's original aspect and betting some edits (for whatever reason) were made...
I'm 100% positive a Harlock boxset has come out. On that note is Captain Harlock TV still being fansubbed as well?
Bear: Sword for Truth is only one episode. There's no continuation unless you wanna find the manga.

Fuck the people who hate Bleach by comparing it to DBZ and Naruto, they obviously don't know any better.
At first I didn't like E7 for the same reason that Bear currently doesn't, the whole concept of sky surfing mecha made me roll my eyes and really just turned me off to the series very early on when it began airing. I stopped watching after the third episode and said forget this.
As luck would have it, CN started showing the series last year, and I happened to catch the fourth episode, then the fifth, and well I got hooked after that.
IN SUMMARY:
- Sky surfing robots = ?!!
- Obvious Rei Ayanami vibe from Eureka at the start.
- The length might annoy some people (it's a tiny bit rare to get shows to reach 50 episodes now a days).
- Talho's second outfit :(.
- Emo Holland.
- A few people I know (GASARKI) really disliked Anemone, but I love the girl.
- Also Dewey is a dickhead.
- Very slight Eva vibes as well.

People forget that FMA started out the same way and it didn't start to really get to it's core point until the teen episodes.
say what? ungh. i think this is what i call the Eva Effect, only in reverse.
if a series is "off-da-heezy" from the first episode (e.g. Eva), then the series has nowhere to go but down, as far as rabid fans are concerned.
i mean, what do people expect? the pace of character development is dictated by the medium. characters develop at a much faster rate in movies (as opposed to a tv series) because movies are so short on time.
its not that people don't understand the premise of E7, and its not that people are unable to suspend their disbelief. i think the beef with E7 in particular, and a lot of animes in general, is that American viewers hate having to sit through explanations of things, when they would rather just be shown what they need to understand. this is a familiar gripe with anime. people complain about having to sit through lengthy explanations where the characters explain how the Trappers work in E7; or when characters give an entire fucking lecture course on how a ninja fight was won in Naruto. my thing is, if you're not a fan of exposition and want to cut to the chase, then why are you watching a TV series and not a movie?
BTW, I'm not a big fan of Bleach(just thought I'd throw that out in the open to piss off Tuff). The manga was alright, but, it turned me off pretty quickly.
:annoy: JERK!
but seriously, look at how many episodes are devoted to the development of some of the principal characters in Bleach. that shit took forever and a day. they had to introduce ichigo/rukia, orihime, chad, AND ishida - and all of this BEFORE the rescue arc could begin. it was pretty sure that Bleach would bomb here in the U.S. because of this. people want the pacing of feature films in a TV series and you can't have it both ways.
IN SUMMARY:
- Sky surfing robots = ?!!
again, if we can't suspend disbelief simply because the giant robots happen to be flying, then where is the incredulity towards the giant mech genre in general?
its like saying, "okay, i can accept the premise of giants robots, but giant flying robots?! surely that is nonsense..."
- Obvious Rei Ayanami vibe from Eureka at the start.
every anime has a Rei Ayanami - that one character who can never open their mouth and say what the fuck is on their mind - see Orihime's inability to say how she feels about Ichigo, or any other anime character who is incapable of expressing basic human emotions (which is also the infamous diagnosis of the average anime fan, according to Ano). usually by the end of the series these characters mature enough to be able to communicate along these lines (as the Rei character grows, so does the introverted anime fan).
- The length might annoy some people (it's a tiny bit rare to get shows to reach 50 episodes now a days).
again, the pace of character development in movies versus the pace in a TV series.
- Talho's second outfit :(.
ungh =/ totally agreed.
385]- Emo Holland.
i did seem to enjoy it more when he was beating the shit out of Rentin.
- A few people I know (GASARKI) really disliked Anemone, but I love the girl.
meh, she doesn't make or break the series as a whole, for me anyway.
- Also Dewey is a dickhead.
agreed again.
- Very slight Eva vibes as well.
ungh. the Eva hate creates a vaccum effect where mech animes are concerned.

Well, it's definitely more action oriented than EVA and isn't that depressing at all. I'm only upto episode 18 now. SO, I can't say for the later episodes, but, you should check it out. It's good. I'm enjoying it a lot. It has it's characterization moments and it has its fun/funny moments. So, it's not all one big downer.
its not that people don't understand the premise of E7, and its not that people are unable to suspend their disbelief. i think the beef with E7 in particular, and a lot of animes in general, is that American viewers hate having to sit through explanations of things, when they would rather just be shown what they need to understand. this is a familiar gripe with anime. people complain about having to sit through lengthy explanations where the characters explain how the Trappers work in E7; or when characters give an entire fucking lecture course on how a ninja fight was won in Naruto. my thing is, if you're not a fan of exposition and want to cut to the chase, then why are you watching a TV series and not a movie?

I really couldn't stomach it anymore, with the exception of . The animation on the ports was so terrible, it looked like a severe step down from R's. Dr. Tomoe was the only saving grace for S because him and the "lesbo" scouts had worthy back stories and history. What was awesome about S was the character roles between our two supposedly new additions to the Moon fold and how they are switched in both the past and the future. Sadly, they only show up in the S series...which baffles me because if they are/were scouts, why were they not assisting during the Moon Conquering, which was a mellenia ago?
I love R and everything leading up to it. The voice-overs were as clean as the animation itself. The story was told nicely, with some decent twists. One of my favs:
- Zoesite turning on Pedophile Neflite.
- Darien's spirit being Moonlight Knight.
- Semi Beryl controlled Tuxedo Mask. You never knew what he'd do next.
The construction site battle was probably the best fight in R. The Negamoon Vs. Sailor Moon in a showdown, which was top tier. Mask/Moon and Rufius. Wonder if they cut footage out of that because Leeta is a beastly fighter. She must have manhandled her rival.
Not bad anime for a... woman.
...that went well.

Mother fuck, everytime I listen to my playlist of like 6,000+ anime songs / random osts / whatever, once in a blue moon the music will come up for the 'end' of Escaflowne and it kills me everytime. Every fucking time. God damn it.

IMO, HnI gets no love because the *majority* of U.S. anime fans aren't into sports let alone boxing, probably has something to do with them getting fucked up by jocks back when they were younger, and could never man up to their bullies(or something else along those lines). As well as sports titles in general(for whatever reason) aren't to big in the states...yet.
I think another part has to do with the length. Companies need to find a new way to distribute these long series. I think boxes for certain arcs would do well for something like Ippo as well as more exposure. This also applies to the manga. Whoever would license this should have talks with the manga-ka to release them here in the states as Widebans.
For someone who hasnt read Bleach(me), is the anime worth it? Should I just get the manga?
That's what you should do with any anime based off of manga.
I've seen some eps. of Bleach and the animation really wasn't that great. The manga was really nice looking.
Any catch the Vagabond art books? I saw some scans and they were fucking GORGEUS...like the manga...but even better. I hope to see Inoue's dvd as well, were it shows how he does his drawings.

Vagabond's gonna be along while before that's finished. Apparently from people who read Musashi, they say he's only 1/4 of the way through.
I'll probably fully know Japanese before this series is done...

If the anime was on par with the manga, it would be easier for me to pick it up (Especially if the manga has been running for a while). Thanks for the response though.

- ...a good amount of S and probably SS is trash. That's where I stopped. Moon was officially over when they defeated Diamond... even though I heard a rumor about a certain incident that happens to Moon, which nearly made me watch a bit of SS.
She dies.

Have you seen any of the original Japanese episodes? You really should if you haven't. They really cut out a lot in the dubbed episodes. The last two english episodes leading up to Queen Beryl's end was actually 3 seperate episodes in the Japanese version. Nothing was cut out with Lita and Prizma though. That episode was actually pretty well kept together from the original Japanese version. Just a few minor cuts.
SS is full of Rini, which is an automatic LOSE. She was at least tolerable in the R series but becoming the main star of an entire part of the series? Hell no. Sad thing is, you can't really avoid it because the story progresses.
SailorStars is great, you should catch some of the episodes on YouTube. The three Sailor Starlights are looking for their Princess Kakyuu and they disguise themselves as men to go "undercover". It's actually a pretty comical part of the entire series and the last episodes are really good.

Hey guys, seeing as I've been out of the anime/manga scene for a long time recommend me some series to watch/read. I've been very casually following Hajime no Ippo, Berserk, AirGear, and what ever else Stabby has on his site (thanks Stabby). However, outside of that nothing. A friend of mine sent me the Haruhi series and I watched that, and that's sort of resparked my interest in the stuff. I haven't downloaded or watched any thing much in the last couple years besides some of the bigger stuff I've gotten from my (obsessed with shoujo stuff) brother, so I'm missing out on a lot of the good manly series.
Fighting, ass kicking, super powers, hook me up.

That's like my biggest pet peeve, I hate it when any show / anime / manga does it, I hate it so much, no matter how much it makes sense or how fucking inevitable it is. It INFURIATES me to no end. I literally had to go out for some fresh air after ep 14 because I was so mad.
Also CC's outfit was prime for BEING RAPED IN FOR FUTURE H-DOJI'S.
:D
