I heard Naruto is a DBZ with ninjas. If so does it have a good story cause I dont want to watch other DBZ.


In some respects it does feel like DBZ with ninjas. But it is quite a bit deeper than DBZ. and the animation is much better.

The only things that Naruto suffers from are, waaaaay too much flashback, and useless female characters. so as long as you dont mind fastforwarding through the ridiculous amounts of flashback then its not bad.

its not great but not bad. but certainly not worth all the hype its getting. Frankly i wouldnt even put it on my year's best list.

and I prolly wouldnt watch it if i had to pay for it.

Gungrave is SWEET, and Naruto is DBZ, with ninjas, better characters, better stories, and overall better battles. Most noticeable thuogh is the fact that almost every character has a fanbase, almost all the characters are great.

I've had Xtv for quite sometime. Got the original boxset with all the slipcases. On vol.6 for like...an eternity. Going to pick up GG(vol.1-4) probably tomorrow with volumes 4 and 5 of Texhnolyze.

My opinion on Naruto... the story is okay. If this anime was a book, it might even be boring. However... the fights are AMAZING. I was literally tugging at my hair during the Rock Lee vs Gaara fight. I have never gotten so hyped during anime fights like I do in Naruto. Sometimes even my heartrate will jump up :lol:. So in other words... the story is there mostly to set up the fights, but the fights are too damn good. I highly recommend it.

I, pesonally, am a hip-hop fan, but they should have gotten an American to do the rapping, maybe Jin, since his voice is similar to the lyricist. And the lyrics also sound like Japanese poetry (not sure if that's how they rap in the Land of the Rising Sun). And I wish I would've picked up the box version instead of the CD, as it just looks cool when all of your Anime is held within one box.

I watched Ghost in the Shell Innocence yesterday.

Um...(I wonder if I could use less words to sum it up). There was way too much philosophizing (souls, dolls, man's preoccupation with recreating himself through robots, children, souls, what is reality, etc). The actual story was kind of lame (Locus Solus implanting copied souls into sex robots and then going on the fritz killing their owners). The movie focused too much on the philosophizing and less on the plot. It could've been a cool mystery, but all that jibber-jabber muddied it up. And Major Kusanagi only showed up for like 15 minutes (in a doll body).

Maybe it's the director. And is it true that the ending/conclusion of the original movie differs a lot from the manga?

And does Masamune Shirow have a hand in the production of these adaptions? I've been hearing some poor reviews to Appleseed also...

I just finished Rurouni Kenshin vol. 10 of the manga. Man, it was tight. Seeing Kenshin fight without his Sakabato against Cho was awesome. He got him some great hits and showed off his Mitsuruigi skills. Now they need to hurry up and get vol. 11 out. I can't get enough Kenshin. I think I like it better than the anime now.

Which imo kind of sucks because I don't think Now is doing that great in sales. I don't do the scanlation route so I wouldn't know the other ways.

Not too interested in R.O.D TV. I have the OVA but wasn't too impressed with it(I'll probably check it out again). I wanna get Ippo, BUT, I'm thinking I will get the scanlations instead since the story is more fleshed out. Same with Slam Dunk. I don't know, it kinda irks me but isn't expected with manga to anime renditions. Of course I have RG Utena and other anime based off manga, but I got those before manga was easier to come by.

In addition to the aforementioned Marmalade Boy, you NEED the Sakura Diaries Collector's Edition. And although they are not straight romance, I'd say Fushigi Yugi and Escaflowne. The romance/love stories in those two shows is up there with any dedicated romance anime.

To a lesser extent I'd say His & Her, though it is less a romance and more of a directorial tour de force. From the studio that brought you Eva, this is the Eva version of romance. A lot of times to the point where it detracts from the show. I've converted a lot of chicks to anime in my day, and because of the wierdness of this one it doesn't work on them as well as say, a Sakura Diaries (Though few things work as well as Sak-Diaries).

If you like Maison Ikkoku which you mentioned, you may also want to try Love Hina, but like His & Her, I reccomend that only to a lesser extend. Hina's suffers from abuse of the top silliness and too many throwaway episodes. First four eps are magic, but once it strays from the path, it gets weak. Besides, if you've seen Maison Ikkoku, there's nothing new here for you anyway.

I can't recomend Please Teacher. You'd have to be pretty hard up to swallow this story with they way they choose to tell it. I can only see so many unbelievably hot chicks fall head over hills for the dorkiest looking motherfuckers before I call foul. Maybe if you're a dorky looking motherfucker series like these give you hope, but I can only take so much. (The side love story here between two secondary characters is actually stronger than the one between the two main characters) I haven't seen the other "Please" titles, but stay away from this time-waister.

I hear MahaRomantic is good too, but never seen.

i know what you mean about gasaraki i almost gave up on the the show, but got through the 3rd disk and i was fine. i didn't like the fact people said oh its like eva when its really like votoms. i love rah you could say is some what love story instead of mecha . my question is how in the hell can you say his and hers and love hina in the same breath , and please teacher is not that bad better then lovehina heck ai yori aoshi is better then love hina. Rahxephone.. I've only seen the first ep but the stupid newtype magazine pretty much spelled out the entire series except maybe the ending on me. Check koop - Euphoria ,it's animemusicvideos.org's no.1 amv which uses Rahxephone as source. Great amv imo.

I think there are similarities between them (mechs, young pilots and invasion), but they have different themes. Evangelion is more psychological, while Rahxephon is a romance (just look at their endings).

I went to my fye in the mall and they had marked down a ton of anime. I picked up two anime DVDs: Dragon Half and Blood Reigen: Curse of the Yoma. Both were only $6.99 so I figured eh, why not? Dragon Half sounds hilarious and Blood Reign seems to be more a dark, serious type of anime. Haven't watched either yet.

no the movie sucks its worse the esc movie by far. tv show follows the manga pretty close then goes its own since clamp was going at slow pace with manga the ending might be somewhat let down butoverall its good series. its very good wish it was longer its my fav series of all time i even place is higher then berserk ,thats saying something since i'm the biggest berserk whore on here.

A bit off topic but I also picked up YYH: Dark Tournament for the PS2 for only $20 new at Circuit City today. Can't wait to play it.

Just finished watching Bloog Reign: Curse of the Yoma. Not great but not bad. Interesting and confusing. Not for the faint of heart. was the first time I'd ever seen intestines and other insides laying next to dead warriors in an anime. :wow:

The human characters are not in it. It's all based on the enemies and is set around the Guardia Millenium Festival.

I saw the "Crying Freeman" live action movie the other day and was pleasantly surprised. I'm not much of an anime fan, but I was wondering if it would be worth my time to check out the animated version(I hear the movie is based on episode 1 or something?).

IF(and it's a HUGE IF since it is out of print) check out the manga. I'm still missing 2 volumes but this shit is gold. The only bad part about it is that it's flipped. So when Freeman stabs people in the heart it looks like he stabs them in the right lung.

Devliman Lady is so underrated. This show is great. Konaka did an excellent job with the script and story.

IMO Kai doh Maru is pretty (animation), but the story is aiight. Kind of like Blood (which is made by the same company). If you can borrow, rent or find it for $10, definitely worth it, otherwise pass.

But really, the main problem of the anime is that they took so much its not funny. Yes, Tsukihime has more than enough material for a 52-episode long series, but I think they could have done a lot better job when doing the adaptation. Not even the creators of the anime are happy about it.

For an adaptation done right, look at the manga. It has the storyline and several changes of the anime (like how Shiki kills Arcueid), but it is very faithful in everything else.

Well The recent anime I've watched:

-Mega Man: Upon A Star
-DBZ Cell Games: Nightmare's End (Screw the haters. I love this series)

Mega Man Upon A Star was some anime I remember hearing about back in 2002 when I read GameNOW. At that time, I don't think it was available on American shores but now it is. The 3 eps here are pretty much kiddy stuff and it teaches kids about Japan. I learned as few things I didn't know such as Japanese festivals and traditions. It wasn't great but it wasn't sucktacular. And I did get to see Mega Man bust up some robots. And seeing Mega Man & Proto Man fight side by side was cool. And Paul Dobson is a far better Rush than that Scooby Doo moron from the American MM cartoon.

DBZ Cell Games Nightmare's End was a great buy. Most of the episode "Save The World" had a lot of filler but it was pretty good filler IMO. Seeing Gohan struggle with the Kamehameha with Cell was awesome. And When Gohan finally blasted Cell of the face of the Earth... Killer. Just KILLER!! :wow: I also really enjoyed the ep called "Free The Future," which was about Trunks kicking the crap outta 17, 18 and the future Cell. It was nice to see the spot light on Trunks after all the Goku and Gohan air time.

As for manga, I just picked up vol. 12 of Kenshin. Kenshin's master is just too bad. I hope I get to see him fight more as the Kyoto arc continues to unfold. I saw the OVA Trust & Betryal and I totally forgot Kenshin's name was originally Shinta. And The Nine Headed Dragon Strike. Oh man what an atktack.

I can agree to that. That's how I am with most of my anime. The exception being Ranma 1/2. I've never seen the anime but I've read the first 9 books of the manga. It seems like the USA is the opposite with anime: before we see the manga, the anime has to be shown first. In Japan, the manga is out befoe the anime. Go figure.
I actually like the anime of Trigun better than the manga. The first two books for the Trigun manga were good but Trigun Maximum was better (I still need to get books 2-3)

Reservoir Chronicles Tsubasa is beyond badass.

It's like Kingdom Hearts, in manga form. :pray: It's so good, it makes me forget about the BS that was Card Captor Sakura. In fact, it's nothing like CCS, no more "magical girl" stuff, or mystical powers. Just a bunch of guys from different manga in one team, beating the hell outta anything that moves. And Syaoran finally gets to shine, he kicks ass and takes everyone's names in this one.

And of course, Azumanga is funny as hell. I just finished reading through the second English volume. :rofl:

Is anybody currently watching Texhnolyze or Paranoia Agent? Those are exactly my cup of tea. I only have 2 dvds of texhnolyze so far, so I'm putting it on pause until I get some more... :(

But try to find the fansubs or the hk ones. The US release, from what I've heard, is just ripped apart. It might be better when it comes on Cartoon Network, though.

But if you do watch it, find a site with an episode listing, and skip every episode that is just filler.

Hey everyone, I'm looking for a really good anime to show, but I really want it to fill these requirements:

1) needs to be shoujo (we're already showing shounen, I need a good shoujo to contrast it)
2) it needs to be the type of anime that guys are able to sit through and watch even though it's meant for girls
3) it should be fairly new (came out in 2003, 2004, or 2005 range).

Kaleido Star(2003) is a good one. It's about choreography. It's a little bit on the side of being too girly sometimes though.

Princess Tutu(2002).. could be a good one. You have to get used to the style, but it's basically remake of classic stories.

Air(2005) is supposed to be good. Never read the original PC novel software myself, and it's actually for boys, but the story is really, really sad iirc.

School Rumble(2004~5) is something for both parties imo. It's a comedy drama about buncha Japanese school kids who are in love with each other but they can't really say it because.. ionno they're japanese? It's pretty funny, it's my current #1 pick right now.

Keroro Gunso(2004) aka sgt. frog the animation. sometimes really funny, sometimes not.

i would go for the op digi fan subs instead if hk since hk sucks , bad subs, sucky animation level, and names are screwed up . by the way one piece thats going air on cn later his year is still the fox verison although r4 are going have uncut dvd of op which means somebody has r1 uncut dvds , just i don't know who or when were see them out.
