Anyone seen Mars Daybreak? Kinda interested in picking it up, but I would like some feedback on it first. Good or bad will do.

From what I've been reading so far (got through the 1st volume), Scrapped Princess manga owns anime version hard. Less cheesecake filler (aka no drawn-out bath scenes and annoying as hell Winnia) and more of what counts; Shannon and Raquel owning everyone/thing in their path. Shannon's so frickin' cool in manga...he doesn't come off half as "token badass" as he does in the anime version (cause in anime version, that's what he was) and shows genuine feelings for Pacifica. That being said, Pacifica is the only reason that anyone who steps to him isn't dead (she dislikes killing, so Shannon doesn't do it).
But yeah, great read for me so far. Hopefully this version keeps the steam going, unlike the anime.

I read/watched naruto until the episodes were all fillers, so i'll wait until the fillers are over before i watch it again. Now im into Bleach like CRAZY i dont know why its so appealing but it is, enterance theme and all...

The same thing happens to me with Naruto. When good shit is happening, the series is one of the best things I've ever watched in my life. The filler episodes just kill me, though, since you go from a stretch of episodes that are incredible to a stretch of shit that doesn't even seem worth the time to watch.

The anime was good, but it lost a lot of steam towards the end. Plus, I hate all of the "side" characters (except Chris, he was okay), and really hope they stay out of the manga. I will admit though, that the last episode sorta redeemed it. And the music a lot of the time was helluva.
So anyway, I started readin Yotsuba &, that's comedy there. The whole thing is oddball, and Yotsuba is nuts. That being said, it's just like the other stuff Azuma does.

so such a long thread and no discussion about homuculus whats wrong with it its quite a excellent manga i would like to recommend by the Band of the Hawks its made by the same person who did Icchi the Killer but not as violent. i also would like to mention GOTH by the scanlation group Kotonha especially because of the knife fight scene at the end.

As for anime... I had this whole week off work for vacation so I finally sat down and watched some Zach Bell with the Zach Recap on Toonami. This should is actually pretty good. I know why Kyo tages along with that midget, Zach. But why is Zach dressed like a half kid Nun/school girl? Ah well.
Toonami will show Naruto starting next Saturday. Nice that this anime will be coming to America but I'm afraid of how many edits will be made and how the voices will be handled, especially for my fav character Naruto himself. I've already seen the sins that have been done in One Piece. Super soakers?! I'm surprised they actually mentioned that one pirate that hid all his treasure in the Grand Line as "before the hung him." They can say the word "hung" as in killed but can't show REAL guns? Ugh. To be fair, Zoro has a good voice and Buggy The Clown was also good. Luffy's voice isn't all that bad. Someone like him needs a lighthearted, upbeat type of voice.

I've got a small question for those who watch other than the mainstream Anime. Is there ALWAYS an annoying character in EVERY Anime? Just wondering. So far, I've I.D.ed.................
Naruto = Sakura
Bleach = Gin (a.ka. the fox-faced bastard )
Dragonball = damn near any enemy that shows up.
Neon Genesis Evangelion = Seele
My hime = Nagi
And the list can go on and on. It's starting to look like it's intentional moreso than just a side-effect. Anyone got other theories?

I'm in the mood to get into some new manga and I'd like some suggestions. The following is an example of what I'm into:
GantZ
Slam Dunk
One Piece
Death Note
Battle Royale
As you can see, I'm a pretty action oriented kind of guy unless the storyline convinces me otherwise.
Also, if anybody can hook me up with a link to some MONSTER manga, I'd appreciate it. The anime is just too horribly slow paced for my liking.
And yeah, Star. It's obvious that it's very intentional.
GantZ has Inaba...
Death Note has Misa...
Battle Royale had Mimura's shorter sidekick of a friend...
Etc. It balances out things.

Monster was liscenced, so was Tsukihime. You'll have to hit up IRC for either.
I do have Monster, though. I can zip and send to you if you want, Saga.
Star, those characters don't really have anything in common. You just find them annoying, or dislikable. And characters like that occur in everything.

Yep. I do. It may not be the exact same characters for everyone, but it seems that there is at least one in each anime. the main reason I asked is because I only do action anime, so I won't know if it's true for other genres or not.
And if you can sit there and tell me Sakura isn't annoying, I'll have your birthday cancelled.

And like almost all movies based on Takahashi manga, will be original material (only movies made based on her work are some of the Urusei Yatsura movies).
At this point, it is unknown whether any of the manga beyond the end of the anime will be animated, but in all likelihood, some of it will be animated in OAV format. Whether or not all of it will be, my guess is that it is unlikely since there is A LOT that has not been covered by the anime.

I've been really out of it when it comes to Anime.
But I finally finished watching Record of Lodoss War TV Series. Wasn't too crazy how they crammed seven episodes onto one DVD or the transfer, but definitely liked the series.
I don't think I'll be buying single volume purchases, except for Samurai Champloo and completing Azumanga. Would love to see Robotech Remastered and GITS: SAC box set.

The Inuyasha manga is still being written. From the looks of it, the manga will be going on for awhile yet. I wouldn't be all that surprised if it went on for 500 chapters (currently, 423 chapters have been released in Japan).

There's this classic manga which had story about Gangstas , bosozokus and yakuzas ...
the art work is similar to Hokuto no ken too , but I DON'T REMEMBER , the main character has a white bandana (like ryu) and wears a outdated japanese school uniform trench coat .
and a gang leader that looks like a WW2 japanese field commander ...

TRAILER (http://realguide.jp.real.com/ram/anime/040922_gankutsu.ram)
"Gankutsuoh" is going to be released sometime in October by Geneon. Hell, I've been buying too many series lately (just completed "Gunlinger Girl" and "Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex" season 1, in middle of collecting "Elfen Lied", "Genshiken" and "Burst Angel"). I'll probably end up buying it anyway, though since it was such a good show.
I can't wait for "Tenjho Tenge" manga vol. 14 to come out (less than a month now). The recent Ultra Jump chapters have been totally kick ass.
EDIT: argh, I've been beat

Just want to say, I HIGHLY recommend Gankutsuou. The entire series was great and if you haven't read the book, was quite suspenseful and intresting.
Has anybody here seen "Karas", by the way?
The raw for episode 2 surfaced on the net less than a week ago, but the animation quality is amazing. Everybody should watch it, even if you don't understand Japanese.

The problem with me is that I always impulse-buy. Most of the stuff that buy, I've seen months before on my computer... Even if I'm aware that some shows are not that great, I end up buying sometimes because the marketing can be so good. In case of Burst Angel, I was like "Shit, that collector's box is tight!! And I really want that cell phone strap!!!" and ended up dropping $30 on the spot. The show's not bad... just a bit hollower than what I usually watch. Jo's really hot, if that helps.
Some are win-win situations, though. Like the R.O.D TV series with the cool faux leather book case, or how Gunslinger Girl came with a huge wallscroll.
And there are other times when I buy complete box sets without even watching the show, just because they're good value or have nice box or something. Such case is Comic Party. I know I'm never gonna watch that thing again (it's not even remotely close to the game). Stupid cellophane cover.
I buy movies, too... but I usually stick to the major ones. Over the summer I bought Appleseed, The Promised Place from Our Early Days (full-length feature by the guy that did Voices of a Distant Star) and Steamboy.

And guess who the translator is?
Anyhow, I've actually gotten bored with it so I've been putting it off for a while. Has anybody read the King of Hell yet. Its Korean manga or something like that. It's my favorite anime/related series so far. Even tho i think that its gonna be short-lived. sigh*. Buut if it does become popular i hope my boy gets his own anime. Hey it happened to Ragnarok. But the Ragnarok anime sucked compared to the manga. Right now ive bought no.10 of King Of Hell, and the main character, Majeh is just seriously kicking some ass. If anybody can suggest to some other good brand, new anime or something i can download fom a torrent to stop my boredom ive been having lately.

^^^I watched the first episode yesterday. It definitely had more story/exposition than the movie (ouch). I believe it takes place before it, as Saya has no clue of who she is (don't want to completely ruin it).
The second ep has been released as raw.
I've heard the first ep of Hellsing OVA is out too.
Anyways some Anime I recently watched:
Basilisk 16, 17 and 18 (I don't see anyone being alive at the end except Oboro)
Macross Zero (yech, too random. Roy Focker, love story, island setting, etc)
Fist of the North Star Movie (japanese version) (awesome violence, I can't quite remember how the American one ended)

True. Honestly, I'm excited about the series. I like action anime versus the mech, love story or esoteric nonsense.
The only gripe may be the teenage characters. Though do I understand who the show is being marketed for (definitely not a 29 year-old adult like myself).

I just got done watching Genshiken. Anybody else watch it yet? Do the lives of these otaku compare at all to your own?
Yea, Genshiken is just great. And I can't wait to complete the DVD set (forgot when vol. 3 is coming out though).
The term 'otaku' seems a bit misinterpreted outside of Japan, though. The characters in Genshiken are technically otakus, I guess. But their life is illustrated as something rather rosey.
I recommend reading NHK e Youkoso (Welcome to NHK) if anybody wants something a bit more hardcore.
from wut i understood otaku's are complete losers, obsessed with sumtin. That america has taken the word to mean anime, and lost the complete loser part of the word.
Well, I wouldn't necessarily say 'losers'. 'Geeks' is more like it. But it definitely doesn't have a positive ring to the word...

Sup, yall. Been reading Rose Hip Rose by Fujisawa Tohru(sp?). Creator of Bad Company and its even greater sequel, Great Teacher Onizuka, can't go wrong, right?
... I can't recommend it too much, that's for sure. It's different though, but his formular doesn't work here imo. like it's not nearly as funny as GTO nor is it touching, it's hard for me to care about the characters ionno. Recommend me some comics plz?
2chan/idlechan and 4chans have different administrators. They're different boards. Sorta like here vs higher voltage or something. and uh.. yeah I'm one of those imageboard nerds, w/e. shrug. Dunno why it mattered so much when there's an otaku doing what he does.
Any news on fate/stay night's sequel and anime conversion?
2chan is a abbreviateion for Futaba Channel, dedicated to the character Futaba (from what series, I don't remember anymore... something in my head says that it's a h-game though).
4chan is just a international ripoff of 2chan. Has nothing to do with 2chan, really.
Any news on fate/stay night's sequel and anime conversion?
Atraxia is a fan disk set, unfortunately.
Fate anime begins airing in spring 2006.
I went to Best Buy and bought myself some DVDs today... I've been behind in buying stuff for a while.
I got:
Gunslinger Girl vol. 3
Elfen Lied vol. 2
Elfen Lied vol. 3
Burst Angel vol. 3
Burst Angel vol. 4
I dun think the new Burst Angel was supposed to be out 'till next Tuesday, but it was on the shelf so oh well. :p
I know that some of the GSG vol. 3 discs have been found to be defective, but I hope mine's okay. It would be a pain to send it to Funimation for a replacement.
I just got finished reading the first Dragonball manga, and it is quite enjoyable. It's rather funny, and to be honest, Toriyama is a pretty creative guy.
I've never bought Manga before, so I just decided to grab a bunch of firsts. I also got:
Dragonball Z 1
Naruto 1
Trigun 1
Trigun Maximum 1
I primarily got DBZ to see if it's any better than the show, Naruto because I am very interested in what this series is all about (Ninjas? Eeeeexcellent...), Trigun for the same reasons as DBZ, and Trigun Maximum because Wolfwood's back, and that is reason enough.

Space Runaway Ideon is up to vol.11(but I need to dl Azureus again...)
and I still need to pick up vol.2 of Giant Robo. Got 1 and 3 but 2 I'm gonna have to order online most likely. Man, the RightStuf sales can't come soon enough. Still need to finish Azumanga Daioh and pick up the Platinum Edition EVAs.

VERY good picks, man, very good. I've read the first two books of Trigun and Trigun Maximum vol. 1 butI've yet to get books #2-6. I read enough manga as it is but I really want to see what they do in TM that was different from the anime.
The DBZ manga moves at a much faster pace than the anime. I really enjoy both the anime and manga myself, though but the show was more drawn out to keep it from catching up with the manga.
Well I read Kenshin vol. 19 last week. WHOA!! This Revenge arc is shaping up to be pretty good! Atfter the Kyoto arc, I was afraid the manga would lose steam but Watsuki-San is still keeping me hooked.
As for the Inu-Yasha manga, I've been reading the weekly updates on Ear-Tweak. The manga just seems to be going in circles now. She's done more than 430 chapters of InuYasha and she said she's looking forward to chapter 500. How many freaking times can InuYasha find Naraku or something that has his freaking heart, come close to killing him/it only to have him/it escape? Seriously, this is surpassing ridiculous here.

Live action. But the intro is animated, featuring cute rabbit girls. There are garage kits and PVC models of them available from various brands.
@WasFemto: Why do you want see Tetsujin 28-go so much?? I know you're referring to the upcoming DVD release, and I quite don't know which installment it is... but the franchise itself is not great unless you're a fan of Osamu Tezuka or into really old-school stuff.

Sentou Yousei Yukikaze would probably float your boat. Gonzo production circa 2003. Made in joint with the Japan Self-Defense Force to commemorate their fighter pilots.
Other than that, I could think of some Macross (I like Macross Plus the best) series... but that leans more toward mecha.
Last Exile (Gonzo, 2004) is also somewhat related on the note, but that show's one of the best TV anime series ever produced so it wouldn't hurt to watch it anyway.

Manga is pretty enjoyable first 50-80 chapters or so.... Then it just starts to get boring so if you dont like any characters and havnt picked your favorite by that time, probably best to drop it cuz it just gets worse. The ending is kinda fast to shrug.
The anime is horrible, the OVAs are horrible.
The game is also horrible. Good luck reading it unless your japanese is pretty good, as the font in the game is just about unreadable unless you know what you are looking for with out truely reading it half the time. The game is also the hardest dateing game ive ever played, never seen a damn game where you could die so easily. Also if you do play it, better pray you dont have a fave character and totaly ignore the fact that the game gives you choices to do stuff how you woulda liked to, cuz if you are biased at all you automaticly get a game over. Games pretty shitty.

In general Im a fan of action more than anything else(aka Naruto, Hunter X Hunter, Yuyu, forget what those type are called) Anyways Im looking to watch a new series, maybe FMA, FMP, iono. Best would be if it was available off narutofan, but I can get ish other ways too I suppose, any help would be GREATLY appreciated:tup:

The preview DVD for "Fate/Stay Night" came out last week. Majority of the cast seems alright, except for Rin... she kinda looks and sounds weird compared to the game.
Here (http://www.hongfire.com/forum/showthread.php?t=37760) is the torrent if anybody is interested.

By 'preview DVD', I mean the Japanese release. "Fate/Stay Night" won't start airing until January, and I'm pretty sure it won't get U.S. distribution until fall 2006 at the earliest.
And it's not a Geneon show. It's a Studio Deen production licensed for distribution by Geneon.

Fall 2005 is kinda weak... as was the rest of the year.
Some shows seem okay, but none of them really stands out. Jigoku Shoujo (Hell Girl) and Blood+ are the only series that I still bother watching. There were some other shows that I was really looking forward to, but most of them didn't deliver to my expectation. Gunparade Orchestra was especially disappointing because I've been excited about it since spring.

k when naurto was first license they even said it wasn't even when viz/shro sent out the huge press release that it was license and , they started the bogus voice cast which was wrong. not saying everything they say is b.s but take them with gain of salt.
umm orka.. i know that geneon not doing the show i meant i'll wait for the dvd release since geneon dvd owns pretty much anyhing fansub group can do.but in way there coproducing it one way or another either in animation or in marketing.
and yes the fate/ stray startup set for the japanesse release is very nice from the pics i seen on )AOD SITE IN R2 FORUM . sometimes i wish we were getting alot of there stuff ,but that cost alot more in license get all those goodies, but i believe were get the same box design, and cover art work and soundtracks wonders what the release format here be.
umm i wouldn't say 05 season was big disappoint i think it was much better then 04.
i mean dear lord lets look at the pretty plate for anime this year
air tv
honey. and clover
Eyeshield 21
fmp traid
bloodtv
Eureka 7
Black Cat
Speed Grapher
Sunabozu * depanding who you asking*
loveless* depands who you asking, and what your looking for*
Trinity Blood * again depands who you ask and looking for*
pradise kiss
Basilisk
Rozen Maiden
Noein
i know i'm missing a couple here and there oh well
again alot of this picks is just opinions nothing else.
but looking at this list and looks back on 04 i can think of maybe 5 good shows ....
later
Well, there were many enjoyable shows. Among my favs of the year are:
Karas
Full Metal Panic: TSR
Kamichu
Honey and Clover
Ah! My Goddess (just cus I like Fujishima Kosume, meh)
Trinity Blood
Gun X Sword
Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan (yes, this seems out of place but I like stupid things sometimes)
...and bunch of others.
But to me, being enjoyable alone isn't good enough. I want a series that packs a punch as something revolutionary and leave a mark in the history of anime. So yea, I should probably rephrase myself. 2005 was okay overall but there wasn't a single outstanding piece that makes the year memorable for me.
For example, looking at the past 2 years...
2003 had "Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex" and "Last Exile" (both shows which redefined TV anime on many levels). 2004 had "Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG", "Samurai Champloo" and "Gankutsuoh".
The closest thing to revolutionary that came out of 2005 is "Karas", and it's still kinda tough to judge it since only 3 out of 6 OVA episodes have been released. I really wanted my fansub group to work on this when it first came out, but the idea got dropped quickly since Manga Ent. (nooooo) licensed it. Instead, I ended up translating "Koi Koi 7" T_T
And I'm pretty disappointed at Gonzo cus this year seemed especially lackluster despite the fact that they seem to have pumped out more shows than they ever have. Even their b-class shows seem lower in quality than previous year's caliber.
As for "Fate/Stay Night", I hope many good things will come out of it. I'm big fan of the game, and I plan to pick up "Hollow/Ataraxia" when I go to Japan this winter.

I'm surprised that for 2004, nobody mentioned Elfen Lied or Genshiken, which IMO were the two best releases that year. School Rumble, Mai Hime, and Bleach are also all very respectable titles.
I haven't watched too much from 2005 yet (finishing off Gankutsuoh right now), but for the most part, but I haven't heard too much that has been on the same level as the really good stuff from the last couple of year. Then again, I've been putting off watching FMP: TSR and Honey and Clover for awhile now. I did really enjoy Banner of the Stars 3 (best of the Banner series, IMO, not as good as Crest though, but that's still saying a lot), and the Ah! My Goddess TV series (like orka, I'm a Fujishima fan) though.
Oddly enough, I'm pretty sure I've discussed 2003 vs 2004 anime already in this thread, and it might have even been with tempest.

Well, I specifically mentioned 2nd GIG, Champloo and Gankutsuoh because those are the shows I consider to be in the A+ range for 2004.
I really liked Elfen Lied (completed the boxset) as well as Genshiken (final DVD is out next week), but I don't consider them to be on the same scale with the shows I mentioned above. I really liked School Rumble also, and patiently waiting Media Blasters to release the R1 discs. I hope it won't be too long, considering Grenadier came out in no time.

5 years is a really long time. I agree that they paid off, but...in 5 years, I'd expect at least a longer story. Whatever It was poetry nonetheless IMO.
I apologize if this has been discussed before, but what's everyone favourite anime OP/ED? (video/song combo)
For me, it'd have to be to all tha dreamers by Soul'd out (Yakitate Japan's 2nd Ending theme)
The song is tight as hell, and the clip is original to boot. I was floored when I first saw it, wouldn't have expected something like that in a million years...
runner-up would be Samurai Champloo's first OP theme. But I don't watch much anime (I'm more of a manga addict), so I expect to hear much different opinions here.

Ugh, I personally hate FMA so I'm not gonna discuss about it. I see it on the same level with Naruto, Once Piece and Bleach.
And my bad, School Rumble is licensed by Media Factory.
As to Kabuki Klash's response... I'm not sure if I havea dead-on favorite but any opening theme by Yoko Kanno is ridiculously good (same goes for scores). Although I feel a bit partial about the RahXephon opening since it was basically a pop piece.
I personally like it when producers specifically commission new themes for anime openings, as opposed to picking existing pop/rock tunes. Then again, there are cases when a existing song matches the opening perfectly. That being said, my favs include:
Shingetsutan Tsukihime
Gunslinger Girl
Lain (the Boa track was perfect)
Texhnolyze (Juno Reactor was the last thing I expected, but it worked. I guess Abe has good taste in music.)
R.O.D (OVA and TV)
Elfen Lied
anything by Yoko Kanno

but yet you think sc is one of the best shows of 04 when there is no way it is efinlied, planetes, maihime is alot better then sc not saying sc is bad just i don't think its has good has everybody boasting about heck i would say that jubichan2 fights can give sc fights run for there money.
in 03 god you can;t say there was best shows cause all the shows maybe about 80% were awesome, wish all the shows were license by now ::cough
Kimi ga Nozomu Eien *cough* thats like only show from the monster year of 03 that isn't license here.
peace out
I like Stand Alone Complex cus it has a intelligent twist. Not only that, but it practically had everything... plot, characters, animation, music, etc. Everything about GITS: SAC is top notch as far as I'm concerned.
And action is usually the last thing I look for. Sure, they're always welcome addition if the rest of the essential components are intact. But I generally have low regards for shows revolving around action and very little else (which is why I hate stuff like Naruto).
And Kiminozo anime sucks compared to the game. Most anime based on h-game sucks. The only exception I can think of is Tsukihime, and even that deviated widely from the original storyline. A lot of People liked Air TV also, but I hate Key games in general so I couldn't really enjoy it.
But I am being hopeful for "Fate/Stay Night" anime to be as good as the game, so dunno... *shrug*

cause, people like KOF, people like anime.... besides its only episode 1, from the looks of it theres more to the story than what we see on EP1. The Fatal Fury OVA's and Movies were pretty good so I'll look forward to these KOF OVA's, they won't botch it considering its their 1st KOF in anime.

and the mid 90's are gone so no more fuckin killer robot steals fighting moves rehash plot lol. i think thats seriously the funniest thing about fighting animes back then they all ripped off eachothers plot.
It's almost always a bad idea to make anime out of video games... especially fighting games. I mean, in all honesty what fighting game has a sound plot? The only good thing about the new KOF anime is Production I.G. animation.

You havent seen Street Fighter II, Fatal Fury, Fatal Fury II and Fatal Fury the Motion Picture??? They were true to the game as far as it possibly could. Hmm, Battle Arena Toshinden, have you seen that? That was another VG Anime that stayed true to the original content. And besides SFII, another series of OVA that stayed true to the games were Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors (not the TV series). I just think you got it mixed with Movies and Video games because Anime and Videogames are just fine.
Gasaraki
12-08-2005, 01:14 PM
Guilty Gear has a sound enough plot for an anime, of course the story isn't even complete yet so that would be a problem but meh =P
You havent seen Street Fighter II, Fatal Fury, Fatal Fury II and Fatal Fury the Motion Picture??? They were true to the game as far as it possibly could.
The quality doesn't have much to do with staying true to the plot or not. If anything, producers rigidly coercing themselves to the plot and mechanics of the game usually results in shortfall of the anime. Main problem with video games turning into anime (and vice versa) is the fact that directors are most often focused in recreating the structure and atmosphere of the game, which allows for lesser room for creativity in directing the story as well as animation sequences.
I mean, let's get real. All the Street Fighter anime and Fatal Fury anime were either mediocre or bad. The original SFII movie was presented rather nicely, but overall it's a subpar piece of anime at best.
Many studios have made countless numbers of anime based on games over the years. Most of them are disposable, and only a handful of them are considered to be even worth mentioning by most viewers and critics. Aside from "Sakura Taisen" franchise, "Gungrave", "Zone of Enders" series, "Gunparade March" franchise (now "Gunparade Orchestra") how many anime based on non h-games can you recall that survived the records beyond old magazine prints? RPG are always hot commodity to be turned into anime also, but can you name a single title that is even considered watchworthy aside from ".hack" franchise? (I actually think the only reason variants of ".hack" is still being produced is because like the game, it's a commercially driven scheme. But I'm not gonna get into that.)
And yea, I still think that most fighting games have horrible stories. The only one I find as being plausible is the Guilty Gear plot, and I definitely don't want to see it turned into anime.

And what was the deal how the grandpa and the other vampire lived... At one point they showed the grandpa with a charm on him but other then that its not realyl talked about... Finally finished watching Elfen Lied (just bought the last dvd and dled the OVA episode). The ending was great <3 Kinda disappointed the OVA wasn't the "14th episode" but it added to the series and was pretty funny (Nana, lol).
I have a question about the ending though (possible spoilers):
Who was behind the gate at the very end? Or was that some kind of "ghost" of remembering Lucy?
I bought all the DVD's too. Too bad the collector's box is damn ugly no matter how many times I look at it. :(
Uhhh... I dun wanna spoil it, but I'd recommend you to read the manga if you want to go more into depth. The art in the manga is ugly as hell, though. Looks like a doujinshi drawn by a 13 year old (I'm not exaggerating).

Has anyone here read Deathnote? is it worth checking out?
DeathNote is an awesome manga. The only bad part is around chapter 40 or so when it slows down for a bit but it picks up again after that and once again becomes intresting. If you're someone who gets turned off easily by many many plot twists I wouldn't recommend it but otherwise it's awesome.

lol blah whatever I enjoyed it.... I wasnt looking foward to it or anything, a freind just burned it for me so I watched it. And I thought it was pretty good for what it was, besides the stupid parts that made no sence to me it was enjoyable. Plus the animation in it was always good to(besides ep 12 and 24 which were honestly so bad I thought my cpu was freezeing)so it wasnt like it was ugly and I had to struggle through shitty animation.

Eww, I don't want to torture myself with the manga. I'm pretty satisfied with the anime even though it left a lot of loose ends. I wonder if they'll decide to do another season or OVA to explain what happens. I kinda hope they don't because I liked the way the series ended.
Oh, and co-sign on the box, lol.

k no that wasn't a ghost, that was lucy at the door. everything points to that. the ending is very symbolic with the gembox, and the clock, like one stopped and the other started sort like k this chapter in this story ends, now its time to write new one thats how i see it.
about the ova, and covers , and box designs . when adv license the show, they never knew about the ova ep so when they went back to get that the licenser push the license way up, and since adv is trying save alot money has possible since the anime market is kinda stuck in the mud the were like forget it , and they couldn't affored the cover art work for either dvd cases or box or really use any kind of other art work, they can only use what was givin to them which wasn't much of anything hence is why for the sucky assbox, and covers.
funi, and geneon can since funi is bigger then adv, and geneon is owned by geneon of japan same could be said about bandai has well. i just hope either funi/genoen/ bandai gets air and those goodies.
yes big popa i'm watching biki has well i will say this biki dad is a freaking monster. if want another action series try jubi chan2.
sorry dial i havn't seen moonphase, since its license by funi, and be out around summer/spring,and i guess its safe to say they have Tsubasa ,, and couple other shows, and i really hope the rumor is true that funi has black cat which i wouldn't be shocked since all they license is gonzo shows.

Damn it took me a minute to find this thread.
Anyway I am considering purchasing a new anime and have decided on either the first volume of Cromartie High School or Planetes volume 2. Anybody want to give me some suggestions on what either might be like or if they are worth purchase?

I want one question answered, anyone feel free to chime in.
Does Naruto not realize that Shadow Replication never works...? He literally uses it to start EVERY fight of the series and the ONLY time it works is the first time he uses it in the FIRST EPISODE. Aka for 164 episodes he's starting with the same move that never works.
Bothers the piss out of me.
I just got back from Japan this afternoon. Bought some cool stuff while I was over there. Due to circumstances, I ended up shopping at Akiba on Christmas Eve day but whatever... Not like I had anything better to do. I prefer it there over Ikebukuro anyway. :p
So let's see.
I got some PVC figures, bunch of mangas (ARIA, Keroro Gensou, NHK he Youkoso, Yotsubato!, etc.) and of course Fate/Hollow Ataraxia. I didn't really buy any h-stuff other than Fate. I went to both Tora no Ana and Melon Books, but ended up not buying anything there.

Bought some anime for the first time this year and got and extra $23 out of it too.
So I go to BB to check out what they got and surprisingly the anime section has grown instead of shrinking like I thought it would keep doing. Picked up Genshiken vol.2, Galaxy Railways vol.2 and Cromartie High School vol.1+box+manga vol.1. I get to the cash register and I ask the clerk if I could pay $23 in cash and the rest on debit she pauses for a moment and then says "yeah". She rings it in and gets it right but is still looking confused(she's obviously new there and it was busy with a long ass line) so asks her co-worker about the cash&debit payment and he says we can do it(apparently she wasn't sure if she did it right, by the look on her face) and so she does it AGAIN so I end up with two payments of $23 when I only gave her one so I my total was that much cheaper. Go me.
Went to Bookman's(local shop that expanding in AZ) and picked up some older anime titles there since I got alot of store credit there and their VHS tapes are pretty cheap. I got Dangaio vol.1, Crying Freeman vol.1, Satanika(an anime creatred by Glen Danzig, written by Rintaro and animated by Yoshiaki Kawajiri). I heard the anime never made it out to press but
