oh yea i forgot to add if anyone is gonna use these songs in their custom marvel mixes, All the songs used in fugee's mix (this was his) were edited so when you get the originals it won't be the same as the ones played at Evo East and i think at Evo Worlds final 8.
any feedback on the colors? i just added a bunch more to the page

It is an issue that needs addressing, but the crew seems to be trying to fix it/come up with a solution as quickly as possible for us. In the meantime, atleast we will have palettes to edit those tricky/alternate color palettes with. It shouldn't be too hard. I looked at the Storm flashing palettes and you basically just lighten the colors just a tad for each one in succession, just a simple copy/paste and move the luminescence bar. Cyclops looks to be the reverse as his get darker.
Anyway, looking forward to a solution.
As for Doc's colors. To be honest I'm not a big fan, but that's because I'm not a big fan of the gray/white/black colors that I know everyone is gonna be using. You might want to look into desaturating the colors just a little bit too. Some of those are just really bright and "obnoxious" looking. You have some cool ones in there I liked though.

Like i said, me and SuupaBuu are working on a simpler way to label/edit those palettes
its a lengthy process
i will try and write up what i have for you guys, i have the palettes done just need to document them... takes a long time with some
i would have part of it out by now but i like to have most of it complete instead of releasing multiple versions

Also, I dunno if anyone else noticed this. I noticed it on the version preppy was handing out at Evo.
Regarding Sentinel:
I'm sure you've all seen the obvious problem w/ doing HK drones, when the drones drop bombs you can see the hitboxes around the bombs and such. The other thing I noticed is during his winpose where the steam comes out of his joints or whatever. It came out as little squares of black that appeared/disappeared where the steam would be coming from. I'm assuming this is because it's not in the original palette for changing the color so it might just register as black since it was never edited. You guys might want to look into that, but I'll see if I can find a palette for it in the editor.

you are saving the color configs though right? Just do file -> patch and it saves what you did.
One way to get clearer screenshots, atleast what I do, is make the background black or white, it seems like when you screenshot any other color BG it makes it fuzzy or something and you get a weird haze around the characters.
And I've been editing my post on the previous page too. Making pretty good progress. Thinking of ditching the candy cane colors though for something a little more vibrant, I'm think 4 color spots for each character to be on a team and then 2 slots for random colors for the character.
Also, Cynistar. I don't like critiquing other peoples stuff, especially someone who didn't ask for it. But a few of your sprites (mainly the Sentinels) have shading flaws. You'll want to follow the same general pattern in the original palette. You have some lighter colors where it's supposed to be a darker shadow and it just looks funny = /. Anyway, keep on truckin.

ok with that situation, what happens is the first color the very top left color should be black and have A= 0 R=15 G=15 B=15
the a is alpha and should never be changed, thats why you see the hit boxes, that box i believe was for debugging in testing or something. but you can see the actual hitboxes in NullDC i think when you turn on wireframe
Mike_Z
09-04-2007, 06:19 PM
The boxes you see with color 0 are the actual size of the parts of the frame being drawn, since you're making the normally transparent background color visible. Since it's cut up in tiles for the game, you get squares surrounding various parts of the character instead of one big box. Same with wireframe - you see the edges of the polygons they're drawing the character with. They have nothing to do with the hitboxes, which would be really useful if we COULD see them.
You can also see individual tiles get screwed up if you do the unpause/pause bug.

alright, thanks for the clarification, and thanks to 3D as well. I guess before I finish my edits I will go through all the palettes and make sure I didn't change any of those by accident and hope that problem goes away.
Since you're in this thread though, Mike, any requests on a color for team Mike-Z? I have a teal/gold version on my post linked but I figured since I'm doing your team, I could do a color you want since I got plenty of spots left for those characters.
Also, anyone know Duc's favorite colors for a team duc tribute? Or get him in here? I'll see if I can find him on irc.

For me when i was getting the songs, it actually kinda took a while for me to find them. Your best bet to find them though is from torrents and a file sharing program (like limewire). However though when u dl the originals it wont sound exactly the same as the one used in the custom mix at Evo so editing will have to be done on pretty much all the songs that i listed.

Haha, nah, no competition. I am just having fun with editing the colors and coming up with some schemes for popular teams. I think people would like to have characters with matching outfits that aren't just black and white. Boo @ black/white/gray. Yea, I'm gonna keep saying it. BOOOOOO!
It's all good though, I just wanna make marvel a little more colorful and have a good soundtrack, even though it's still the same game, atleast it'll be a breath of fresh air with some new, more vibrant colors and coordinated team outfits.
I look forward to seeing yours though. Maybe I should stop posting mine and keep em a secret? :O Haha, j/k.

wild kitty i tried fixing some of the shadows. let me know if they look better now.
http://s226.photobucket.com/albums/dd308/cynistar/
They seem to look better. One other thing you might want to try is this.
Make the 2-3 shadow colors darker and less saturated than the highlights. For the 2-3 highlight colors, make the gap between those and the shadows bigger than the gaps between the individual highlights. This will provide a higher contrast and make the characters pop out and really come to life. I'll show you a specific example with this sentinel that I happen to have handy.
This is how I originally did the color just to get an idea for the scheme:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v632/WildKittyv1/wizsent2.jpg
That's the Mr. Wizard inspired sentinel that Watts suggested to me. He liked the color scheme and all was well, but not perfect. The shadows and highlights follow the correct general pattern and there's no funky shading issues. It looks pretty clean there.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v632/WildKittyv1/wizsent22.jpg
There's the second version of it I did. You see how I made the shadows darker and the highlights lighter? It really makes sentinel stand out and look a little bit realer. You just widen the gap between the shadows and highlights. This is one reason I am tending to stay away from whites/grays/blacks as far as this is concerned. It's really hard to get a good contrast in those colors at low levels because of the lack of variety in the hues available on the palette. Sure you can adjust the slider a bunch of minute, single digit adjustments, but that doesn't apply for saturation, which is a key tool in defining the shadows and highlights.
Just think about that and look at those two pictures and you can really make your characters pop out and look more comic-book'ish. Look at the other ones in my post two pages back and you'll see similar stuff.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v632/WildKittyv1/luckymags.jpg
There's another good example of making the highlights pop out. Some chars are harder to do it with without them looking funky, but you should get the general idea.
Edit: Check out the post 2 pages back with my characters on it. Check out Team "Negro Install" - i'm sure it'll make you laugh

A new TDC could be made, but believe me, that thing is PACKED full already. In order to make room for one addition full set of character palettes would require removing Ikaruga and the hidden Shmup game. Same thing with adding another soundtrack; more would have to be sacrificed.
I was thinking a SRK MvC2 disc would be a better option. With a base size of 150 megs, and about 50 megs for each additional pallette set, and between 30-60 megs per soundtrack option, I could fill the disk with tons of different palette and soundtrack options.

That would be very awesome. The guilty gear soundtrack IMO is made for a crackhead game like marvel. My custom GG version of Marvel gets me hyped. It is not uncommon for me to just hit myself in the face, bang my head on my stick and start roaring while playing marvel to the soundtrack of GG.

i've been praying for a marvel version that will give you multiple soundtracks to select music but if you do it again in linux to hardlink the files or w\e its called exactly, that means none of us will have the ability to pick exactly what songs\colors we want to use right?
is there any possible way something like this can be released so users can add colors\songs they want to able to choose from? we all have different tastes in music.
custom stages next! then HD sprites!
for those of you having a hard time trying to work in different colors, there are those extra colors past the original six. Sometimes, these colors just look flat out bad but there are a few of those extra colors that really stand out. It just depends on the character.

I took these 3 color ideas from the extra colors section which turned out pretty well IMO with a few modifications. Its hard to create 300+colors w\o eventually copying some of your ideas. Then your cast starts having the same colors.

Well, let's make this shit official then and get an SRK MvC2 going. How we gonna go about this? We'll need at least 6 full compilations of music and palettes, and prolly 2 months time to give everyone enough time to work on it.
I'm thinking we need terms like:
1. Soundtracks must be complete replacements of at least the character select screen and all stages selectable in versus mode. Replacements of the other ADX files like intro, ending, and Abyss stages are optional, but preferred.
2. Soundtracks must be well thought out replacements and diverse. An all Nightwish soundtrack would not be acceptable, but an all death metal one would be, especially if the music came from all different bands, and had the proper feel.
3. Palette swaps must include all new palettes for all six selectable versions of the main character palette for a minimum of these characters: Magz, Cable, Storm, Sent, Cyclops, CapCom, Psylocke, Strider, Doom, T. Bonne. (I'm definitely open to hear what other chars should be required.) Preference goes to those with the most original palettes, those with the most concentrated palette changes (6 palettes for 5 characters is better than 1 palette for 40 characters), those that allow for team based color matching (Bumblebee MSP, psychodelic Scrub, or pink Mike-Z), and ESPECIALLY those involving all of the extra palettes (a Strider with matching birds/cats/bombs is far better than one without)
4. Entries should be pooled. Someone who just wants to enter some palettes will probably get overlooked, ditto for soundtrack. I'd much rather have a mix of both and be able to call it the Empire Arcadia version, or the Seattle version.
5. Palettes will NOT abuse the Alpha! Using a bit of alpha properly is a good thing, like say for Storm's tornados, Cyke's beams, the trail on Rockballs. Making ghostly characters is not.
6. Complete entries will need to come with an image (I'll get the dimensions later) with a logo and any explanations they want shown before their version is ran.
7. Once a date is set, entries will need to be emailed to me before midnite of the deadline, in the format used on the Dreamcast version (ADX_BLAH.BIN for the soundtracks, PL_BLAH.DAT for the palettes) No texts or JPGs for the palettes, no MP3 for the soundtrack. Must be in Dreamcast form ready to go.
Ideas/comments/suggestions before we start this?

09-06-2007, 11:42 PM
is there any possible way we can leave what songs or colors to add individually instead of releasing a finished product? All you would have to do is create the version that contains the ability to have multiple soundtracks and multiple color edits and let the individual do that part.
we all have different tastes in music\colors and eventually those get old and people want to change it again.
2 cents.

Setting it up so you can pick the soundtrack from group A's submission and the palette from group B's submission is doable, and was already planned. Anything more specific than that is damn time consuming for me, and who the hell would want to pick each palette for specific characters and then the specific track for specific stages, all before being able to play the damn game?
If you want to be able to make your own mix, there's no reason you can't do that now; that's the whole point of this thread. If you want to make your own compilation, go for it; I've already posted how, but it aint exactly easy for those who arent uber geeks.
shoultzula
09-07-2007, 12:06 AM
my terminology maybe a little off.
I wasn't saying pick all your colors\tracks @ every startup . I was trying to say that the user can pick what he wants to add to music\colors, recompile it into an .iso, then the user can have a select screen to choose custom mix 1, 2, 3 etc... and then color edit group 1, 2, 3 etc..
it would be nice to have a marvel that played multiple mixes w\o changing disc to have the ability to go back and change the audio from time to time. Tracks get tiring and we all probably listen to different music while playing marvel.
I understand if that takes too long though. Marvel gets an upgrade so thats all I really care about.

GG soundtrack on the next TDC would be amazing. The music is great because it is all instrumental and fits with the fast pace of the game, while still generic enough so that it is not distracting.

Ideas/comments/suggestions before we start this?

man that sure does look ugly :looney:
can someone tell me how to go about and change storms other palettes so i don't get this ugly effect?
for example my current storm color is now red and black, how do i know which other palettes to change? and do i have to change these other palettes each time i do a new color edit for storm?
Wow, that shows really clearly how nasty Storm looks if you don't edit her mutiple palettes (AFAICT). Poison Ivy/Siren Psylocke looks REALLY good though (she dies quickly at 0:23-0:30, but looks very good doing so).

Here are the numbers for the extra palettes to correctly edit Storm:
LP: (19) Extra, (1A) Extra, (1B) Extra.
LK: (1C) Extra, (1D) Extra, (1E) Extra.
HP: (1F) Extra, (20) Extra, (21) Extra.
HK: (22) Extra, (23) Extra, (24) Extra.
A1: (25) Extra, (26) Extra, (27) Extra.
A2: (28) Extra, (29) Extra, (2A) Extra.
Basically, the first "(xx) Extra" is the same palette for the original button color, for example: "HK color = (22) Extra" in terms of colors, the other "(xx) Extra" ones are brighter.
Effects are as follows: Storm's Variant Data (http://img248.imageshack.us/my.php?image=stormeditboxesry3.png)
You need to colorize these as well for the added effects. Same happens with a bunch of other characters like Cyke, SilvSam, Iceman, Colossus and Doom. For example, Cyke has his own palette for (s)j.HK. I'll post some pics later once i finish coloring other people. Oh, and about that video, i absolutely DESIRE that Poison-Ivy Psy. It's too damn sexy.
Edit:
Storm's hail is (1B) Extra ID:02-08 (http://66.90.101.162/~combovid/eidrian/PaletteEdits/thisishail.png) WHICH is ALSO required to edit the LP color correctly, so I guess we're pretty much fucked with this one. All the other extras are just effects for her special moves, such as the typhoon or the lightnings, including her normals. And I actually found out that 01 LP (Extra - 02), 02 LP (Extra - 03), and 03 LP (Extra - 04) are not used AT ALL. Damn capcom and their lazy asses.
Oh, and for the record, 1B affects hail for ALL buttons, not just LP. So it is like universal palette.

Now for Cyclops, he has like 6 million palettes to edit, some which includes his HK, his intro pose and the laserbeam reflects on his suit.
To do Cyke's correct edit:
For LP color:
01 LP (Extra - 02) - HK effect edit
(29,2A,2B,2C,2D,2F,30) Extra- Intro pose
(59) Extra = LP color (just copy it)
(5A) Extra - Laser Beam reflect on suit
For LK color:
01 LK (Extra - 0A) - HK effect edit
(31,32,33,34,35,36,37,38) Extra- Intro pose
(5B) Extra = LK color (just copy it)
(5C) Extra - Laser Beam reflect on suit
For HP color:
01 HP (Extra - 12) - HK effect edit
(39,3A,3B,3C,3D,3F,40) Extra- Intro pose
(5D) Extra = HP color (just copy it)
(5E) Extra - Laser Beam reflect on suit
For HK color:
01 HK (Extra - 1A) - HK effect edit
(41,42,43,44,45,46,47,48) Extra- Intro pose
(5F) Extra = HK color (just copy it)
(60) Extra - Laser Beam reflect on suit
For A1 color:
01 A1 (Extra - 22) - HK effect edit
(49,4A,4B,4C,4D,4F,50) Extra- Intro pose
(61) Extra = A1 color (just copy it)
(62) Extra - Laser Beam reflect on suit
For A2 color:
01 A2 (Extra - 2A)- HK effect edit
(51,52,53,54,55,56,57,58) Extra- Intro pose
(63) Extra = A2 color (just copy it)
(64) Extra - Laser Beam reflect on suit
Example Pics for my HK color: (original from WildKitty - thx!)
01 HK (Extra - 1A) - HK swing effect (this affects s.HK, (s)j.HK) (http://66.90.101.162/~combovid/eidrian/PaletteEdits/01 HK (Extra - 1A).png)
1st: Copy the ID:01-05 from the original color to 01 HK (Extra - 1A) ID:09-13 as shown here (http://66.90.101.162/~combovid/eidrian/PaletteEdits/HK_swing_edit1.png), for the ID:14 is a bit darker than ID:13, so just copy ID:13 to ID:14 and make it darker. This is for the suit part of the swing
2nd: Copy the ID:06-10 from the original color to 01 HK (Extra - 1A) ID:03-07 as shown here (http://66.90.101.162/~combovid/eidrian/PaletteEdits/HK_swing_edit2.png), then you have 2 unedited square ID's, so copy ID:03 to ID:02 on the Extra and make it brighter. Then copy that ID:02 and paste it on ID:01 and make it even more bright. You should have a tone palette like the one on the main pic. (http://66.90.101.162/~combovid/eidrian/PaletteEdits/01 HK (Extra - 1A).png)
(41,42,43,44,45,46,47,48) Extra- Intro pose (http://66.90.101.162/~combovid/eidrian/PaletteEdits/(41-48) Extra.png)
*Each one is darker than the first one, eg. (41) is Luminance -5, (42) is Luminance -10, (43) is Luminance -13, etc. Just basically the pattern shown in the pic.
(5F) Extra = HK color (http://66.90.101.162/~combovid/eidrian/PaletteEdits/(5F)%20Extra.gif)
*This is the same as the original color, just copy-paste it.
(60) Extra - Laser Beam reflect on suit (http://66.90.101.162/~combovid/eidrian/PaletteEdits/(60)%20Extra.gif)
*You need to colorize it so it looks reddish.
And that's it! Go enjoy your perfectly customized Cyke. =]

ok guys i need help with my detailed project
and i have the god tiers done most of the top tiers and a good portion of the mid-low tiers done
this is alot of work and i only want people that i can trust and that are competent to help me cause i have ALOT of work to do, and i need people that can work with me, WK and eidrian if you would like to help send me a PM
i can give ya some easy tips on how to identify palettes
but i need someone i can trust with a few secrets, i would say that i am 40% done with the entire roster but the rest are a bit harder and i need the help of a small team.
if i can get maybe 3 more people to help me we can get this done within a week or 2, depending on our schedules
in my project i am looking to make a complete guide
and if Preppy wouldnt mind hosting a spot on his site for us to show off/share our edits, that would be awesome of him.
but we need to kinda pull together as a team to get this done right... most of you are only going for the top/god tiers
hey the low/mid tiers want some love too, cause i know there are alot of people that would like some original xmen colors and stuff like that
plus some of the lower tier'd chars have some interesting possibilities for colors
Wow, that shows really clearly how nasty Storm looks if you don't edit her mutiple palettes (AFAICT). Poison Ivy/Siren Psylocke looks REALLY good though (she dies quickly at 0:23-0:30, but looks very good doing so).
I like the Psylocke at the second match, i think she looks much better.

We used the Evo beta version last night for our tourney, and even with mussed palettes it looks good. People were very excited about the Poison Ivy Psylocke and that green Sentinel.
I'm definitely willing to let you guys have space for this (not for hosting music, though, since that does step over boundaries). I probably don't know the game well enough to help effectively on some of the stuff, though. =P If I can actually start burning my own images again, though, I may try to lend a hand.

The Extra-02, Extra-03 are supposed to be the original palette, just brighter, giving the lighting stuff to things. Extra03 is brighter than 02, and 02 is brighter than normal one. For example, that hideous black Storm from Evo:
Original Color (A1 color) (http://66.90.101.162/~combovid/eidrian/PaletteEdits/blackstorm-original.gif)
Effect 1: Extra-22 (http://66.90.101.162/~combovid/eidrian/PaletteEdits/blackstorm-extra-22.gif) (brighter than the one above)
Effect 2: Extra-23 (http://66.90.101.162/~combovid/eidrian/PaletteEdits/blackstorm-extra-23.gif) (brightest)
Then the other effects:
(25) Extra (http://66.90.101.162/~combovid/eidrian/PaletteEdits/(25)%20Extra.gif) (normal button color, compare it to Original Color (A1 color) (http://66.90.101.162/~combovid/eidrian/PaletteEdits/blackstorm-original.gif) and see what i mean)
(26) Extra (http://66.90.101.162/~combovid/eidrian/PaletteEdits/(26)%20Extra.gif) (brighter than normal)
(27) Extra (http://66.90.101.162/~combovid/eidrian/PaletteEdits/(27)%20Extra.gif) (brightest)
You don't have to manually edit each color, just select all the squares the normal one's palette and hit Ctrl+C (yes you can copy it) and then Ctrl-V it to the other ones. Also, to add the bright effect do the same, select all the squares and mess a bit with the Luminance sliding bar.
"Do you understand?" ;)
Edit: If you have some trouble, copy-paste me the entire palette here or send it via PM or AIM and i'll do it for you.
Edit2: Links fixed.

I have been working on it a bit here and there but not too much like I could before.. excuses aside......
Cammy.. she has a red outfit and her orig outfit in her extras of lk to a2... anyone notice them being used in the game?
Oh yeah.. MegaMan and Roll are both nuts on their extra's. Way too much to handle.
This is how it'll work. I'll generate all the differences from the original palette (Subtract the original from the extra), save it to a file and when you modify any basic palette, it'll add the hue, sat, and lum changes. I tried it a couple of times and it seems ok so far.. you'll have the option to apply between H S and L.
PS2 is pretty much the same. Next update will have support for it.. single load.

I suggest you use the actual image/sprite for the variants that you're editing. For example, Ryu's first extra option = hadouken/super hadouken, it would be cool if you could see those sprites being edited instead of Ryu. Same with like AHVB/Grenades/Viperbeam.... It would also help a lot for future reference if someone makes a site like this (http://www.geocities.jp/web_of_oneself/mvsc2/color_cable.html). Um, if locating the sprites is a problem, there was a guy on a mugen forum that posted like every single sprite for a bunch of the new characters....So getting them isn't hard. Anyway, thanks a bunch for the program!

just as a FYI incase people didn't know... Magnetro and I found out that you can give someone the code for a certain color combination, by selecting all the colors in the program (ctrl+a, then ctrl+v in a notepad document or something) then all a person has to do is take that code, and paste in to the color boxes of a certain character.
for instance, take this code: (#10000F111FFFCFFD9FEA6FB74F952FFFFFFFAF04FF00BF00 BF006F111FFD2FE90) open up the Ken sprite, paste that into the color boxes and see what happens.
it's an easy way to share colors, then people can edit and fix them if they'd like.

If you guys could rack up the images, modify them a bit, then I can work on making a little program that makes the dat file with extra images. I could do it myself but I can imagine it being very time consuming for me with the amout of images  /limited amount of time that I started work. Or if you guys want just a limited certain amount of images like the hadou, ahvb sonic boom etc. then that should be pretty easy.
I really want to continue digging into mvc2/3s but I can do this a bit too.

Vega_Omega: Sometimes, copy pasting the entire codes in certain extra palettes doesn't work, they turn out messy or incorrect. It seems to be a bug of some sort, same happens with the export/import ACT. =/
SuupaBuu: That is quite a massive task, but if you want to get it done, you can count me in. On a side note, have you found a way to edit Iceman, SilvSam, etc? Perhaps and updated img.dat? How about the feature to "Patch As.."? :D

OK guys i found Sentinels clean palette edit, all you have to do is edit the very first
01 XX (Extra - XXX) as "XX" are which your button correspondents and "XXX" would be the first extra for that button. Sentinel is now cleanly color edited, the hitboxes and smoke are perfect now.

I'm definitely copping that. Megaman seems interesting to edit - you have a special palette AFTER you release a charged buster, the palette for the super switch frame (while Rush joins you), and the super sprite palettes.
After looking throughout Megaman, it looks like you just need to edit ~6 key palettes to have it mostly covered. I'll hope.

Oh wow, the Magneto Megaman palette is in Megaman's set:
* (#10000F000FF50FD30FA30F939F638F517F306FFFFFBBBFFB 9FEA6FC80F950FF77)
I'll hope.
Anybody figured out Cammy's "counter" special palettes yet?
Also, Spiral uses a different one for her speed-up super.
How do you update Captain America's shield?
i can try and look into that for ya Preppy
spirals seem to be easy as far as her speed, power, and triple power-ups
i also got your mephesto done, both colors
fairly simple, just needed a templette of sorts. and that site is awesome, i can make all the alternate colors and stuff from that website

Also, thanks to Combomasher yet again for his great site. When I actually followed the directions step by step, it all worked great. (I suspect my newer version of CDRWin had been the source of my massive problems burning.)

Favorites: creamsicle Cable, Pink Cyke, Pink Doom (Blue, Purple, Orange Dooms look a little wrong), 'Sean' Ryu is amusing, and the yellow Striders are amusing.
One nice/easy thing in editing is to copy palette settings group between images. For example, I wanted to tone up/tan Psylocke, so I selected the four contiguous skin tones for her and then copied and pasted them into a lighter/paler Psylocke. Looked good and much easier than tediously hand-copying each individual color element.
Magneto Megaman looks really really good IMHO. Maybe it's just that I like the in-joke reference to his MvC1 ending, but I'm still 1000x stunned that that was randomly in his palette set. Editing Megaman's core palette set seems a lot easier than editing Juggernaut's. I tried getting Juggy's power-up pulsing right and have failed miserably: expect seizures.
What's the list of special palettes? Here's what I know:
* Storm (LP, etc)
* Cyke (opening pose, etc)
* Megaman (powered-up, post-power-up (also pre-first-hit tone), super power-up pose)
* Juggy (power-up pulsing colors)
* Cammy (counter pulsing colors)
* Iceman (?)
* Colossus (lots)
* Silver Samurai (lots)
* Doom (intro)
* Shuma Gorath (his walk?)
* Jin (power up color pulse, beings about 2D/2E)
I haven't checked Mag's counters yet.
EDIT: Added Doom per Eidrian and Shuma per Doc.

Combomasher:
* The DkZ Studio is limited to 8.3 and crashes if you use long directory names. Might want to mention that - I crashed it 40 times before I figured it out.
* You might want to point out people can normalize their audio by burning it out to a CD using any program that supports burning normalization. I burn out using WMP (having turned on Normalize Audio Tracks When Burning) and then rip back to WAV from there - it's pretty straight-forward that way. They'll then need to increase volume back up, but ... it's nice to at least start with normalized audio.
EDIT: LOL at green Captain America. Poor guy.

When you were renaming your song files are you sure you renamed them correctly? like adx_s000 (Ruby Heart's Airship), adx_selc (Character Select screen).
Edit:The list on what you can change.
adx_s000.adx - The Pirate Ship Stage
adx_s010.adx - Desert
adx_s020.adx - Inside the factory
adx_s030.adx - Carnival Stage
adx_s040.adx - Bridge stage
adx_s050.adx - Blue Underground Cave
adx_s060.adx - Clock Tower
adx_s070.adx - Ice Boat Stage
adx_s080.adx - Abyss 1
adx_s090.adx - Abyss 2
adx_s0a0.adx - Abyss 3
adx_s0b0.adx - Training
adx_here.adx - Here comes a new challenger
adx_open.adx - Intro music to the Characters (Music that shows all the characters when you start the game)
adx_over.adx - Game Over
adx_staf.adx - Credits Screen
adx_menu.adx - Menu Screen
adx_wins.adx - Music after you beat a stage
adx_cont.adx - Continue
adx_rank.adx - Rank Screen
adx_capl.adx - Capcom logo
adx_selc.adx - Character select screen

The Pirate Ship Stage

Thats The Order Your Songs Have To Be In When Inputting Them with dkz studio. For Example
Whatever Song You Want To play on the pirate ship stage has to be in the first slot,Desert Second slot So on and so forth. Now Even the ??? have to have a song because if you skip it and go straight to the bridge level then it will screw the whole thing up.(Sorry About The List But I Never Jot Any of this down And Im Just Going Straight From My Head)

I don't think it matters what order of the songs will be once you converted them to adx and drag them into your data folder. I renamed my songs to adx in no particular order and when i did everything else and had it selfboot, the songs played at the right stages i wanted it to be.

Some notes on those colors:
*The actual Tron Bonne (girl) is a different palette variant. That color is for the robot armor, if you only edit that, Tron will be normal color and the robot will be the actual edit. You need to edit both to make it look like that in the video.
*Same applies to the Kobun. It actually loads the character file, so you need to edit kobun's color for that button so it looks like that.
*Doom's lightning effect was changed to goblin green, it looks so wrong that i love it ~ <3

Tron is the first Extra for each button.
LP: 01 LP (Extra - 02)
LK: 01 LK (Extra - 0A)
HP: 01 HP (Extra - 12)
HK: 01 HP (Extra - 12)
A1: 01 A1 (Extra - 22)
A2: 01 A2 (Extra - 2A)
There might be some others though for other effects, still need to check each palette. I wish i could use the damn emu to test this. Would save me the time to create multiple bootable discs for testing purposes. :(

*Same applies to the Kobun. It actually loads the character file, so you need to edit kobun's color for that button so it looks like that.? You mean within Kobun's file for Kobun, and within Tron's file for Tron's Kobun, right? I don't see A1 Tron pulling in any of A1 Kobun, if that's what you mean?
for a1 "blue shadow lady" style kobun:
20 a1 - (#10000F279F025F025F025F103F444F222F000F000F000FFF 2FFF2FAA0F660F110)
- core outfit
06 a1 extra - 27 - (#10000F279F025F025F025F103F444F222F000F000F000FFF 2FFF2FAA0F660F110) - all assisting kobuns
07 A1 extra - 28 - (#10000F279F025F025F025F103F444F222F000F000F000FFF 2FFF2FAA0F660F110) ??!?!
1D Extra - (#10000F279F025F025F025F103F444F222F000F000F000FFF 2FFF2F040F020F010) this + the following for death scenes... ?
1E Extra - (#10000F279F025F025F025F103F444F222F000F000F000FFF 2FFF2FAA0F660F110)
1F Extra - (#10222F3ADF04AF04AF04AF208F666F444F222F222F222FFF 7FFF7FFF0FBB0F660)
20 Extra - (#10444F5BEF05EF05EF05EF30CF888F666F444F444F444FFF AFFFAFFF2FFF0FAA0)
Notes: They reuse his eye colors (id 11?) for the tablecloth. They reuse his head topper (ids 12/13) for the paper airplane.
So if you wanted to, you could have the assisting Kobuns using a different palette. But one of the advantages Kobun has is that it's unclear which one is the real one, so that's probably not a great idea.
EDIT:
Tron's Kobuns palettes are within her file here:
* LP: 02 LP Extra 03
* LK: 02 LK Extra 0b
* HP: 02 HP Extra 13
* HK: 02 HK Extra 1B
* A1: 02 A1 Extra 23
* a2: 02 a2 Extra 2b

Yeah, I'm brute-forcing Silver-Samurai right now myself, but I figured I would try to leverage knowledge here. Oh well.
As re: core palette:
00 never touch
02-04 face
05-06 chest symbol ( high, low )
07- trailing arm, foot, head shade, left armor
08- fore skirt
09- fore skirt, legs, shoulder
10- fore close leg, sword handle, helmet
11- accent
12- far waist, sword handle, fore helmet
13- ?
14- underskit accents, sword
15- accents
The key palettes I'm testing right now are:
LP / LK / etc
01 (button) Extra for each
09-0F Extras - glints for LP
11-17 Extras - glints for LK
19-1F Extras - glints for HP
21-27 Extras - glints for HK
29-2f Extras - glints for A1
31-37 Extras - glints for A2
If you stomp on 01 LP, 01 LP Extra, and 07-0f, it'll look right. You can just lazily copy the palettes, but that means you won't get the glint / shiny effects. =P
EDIT: It looks like
03 (button) slash effects?
04 (button) flame effects
06 (button) ice effects
... ?
EDIT: Captain America's ID 01 is reused for the doves that fly by. Still not sure what's his shield.

She has own palette for drill, rock, antenna, etc. It should be fun. Also, AFAIK if you edit the kobun for that palette, it will affect all the Lunch Rush ones. :D As for Iceman/SilvSam, i dare not touch them just yet.
Shodokan123: Read Toodles' reply. You need to tweak the laser lens of your DC so it plays CD-RW's.
Also, whoever designed Shuma's character, should die in a fire. Seriously, 20+ variants for one button is NOT COOL.

aww come on now dont hate on them... they just wanted an original color... but yeah it was a pain at first
ok yall well magnetro kinda leaked my secrets, but yeah i figured out most of the effect palettes, but i wont be releasing my info till i have them down... and till i can release a compilation video of my stuff
i will answer your PMs on that stuff, but if you take what i tell you and release it to everyone else, then i might just not help anyone else out
ok i want to make sure that i have this stuff down pact, becasue if i tell you and its not complete then people are gonna be getting the wrong info and just making alot of mistakes and just really causing a big mess.... i want to do this in an orderly fashion, to make it easier on everyone.
trust me i am putting in alot of work on this project... hours and hours each day. I know what im doing, but this work takes time so dont get impatient
i hope you all enjoy what has been released so far, alot more better stuff is on the way

OK, lame colors for Silver Samurai, but this is a start:
ok red
(#10000F000FFDBFEA7FC64FEFFFFFFFC44FC22F911FC44FC2 2F911F700F911F700)
ok pink
(#10000F000FEB9FD85FA53FEFFFFFFFFBCFFBCFF9BFE69FA3 3FFBCFF9BFE69FA33)
Apply to LP, 01 LP Extra, and 09-0f (see notes above). It's brutally difficult to edit this still since there's no image to look at and thus I'm going burn to burn. But those look OK for a starting point. =\

With the submittd color codes, why cant I seem to paste them into PalMod? I copy the code(ex: #10000FFC9FD96FB64F023FFC9FD96FED0FEA2FB73F742FEE EFBBBF888F555FF22), then select all the squares and hit ctrl-v, but i just hear a beep from my computer and nothing happens.

I'm currently listing all variants for all Extras of both Iceman and SilverSamurai, some aren't used, but other are quite important. I'd list them, but I prefer sending those to Big3D and Supaabuu so they can release a new version of the app. So far, Iceman has 4 sets of palettes that need to be edited, each one is a glow and has 2 more that are the normal Bobby Drake and some other animation i haven't figured out.
I'll keep you posted.
Also Big3D, i'm working on the stuff you requested, but time is limited and this is hard work, so be patient. :D

Preppy: My mistake, just confirmed it with Big3D, Kobun is in the same palette as Tron's. My bad. :p I'll mess with Tron a little bit more tomorrow. She has own palette for drill, rock, antenna, etc. It should be fun. Also, AFAIK if you edit the kobun for that palette, it will affect all the Lunch Rush ones. :D As for Iceman/SilvSam, i dare not touch them just yet.

ok I just stated this color edit and The Preview button won't allow me to preview my progress. These are steps I've done and I'm having a few problems.
# BACK UP YOUR DIRECTORY OF EXTRACTED FILES.
# Decide exactly what you want to edit. The basic MvC2 colors are documented here. You will have to painstakingly edit each character per button-selection type, so start with just one.
# Open PalMod.exe. Go to the File menu. Browse to your directory of extracted files. At this point you should see this:
# The first drop-down listbox lets you select which character to edit. Set that to the character you want to edit.
# Click Preview (This is were I'm stuck)
Then sometimes the program shuts down with a error.
Can anyone help me please?

1. Get your Marvel cd on your PC drive.

3. Open up another copy of PalMod.
4. Load said file.
5. Browse to A2 color.
6. Copy it and paste where you need it.
Seriously, if you have the cd, why not copy it from the cd itself?

oh yeah eidrian, thats for hitting me back on that pm :china:
OK guys i found Sentinels clean palette edit, all you have to do is edit the very first
01 XX (Extra - XXX) as "XX" are which your button correspondents and "XXX" would be the first extra for that button. Sentinel is now cleanly color edited, the hitboxes and smoke are perfect now.

Select all the color boxes you want to paste to, then paste. If you're copying an entire character set, you need to select them all. But you can also copy subsets from character to character, for example if you wanted to change the gloves on Tron's gustaff or etc.
Anybody have a good Rambo Cyclops? I've tried :

yo whatup gold. For some reason i had that same problem too. Before you make your mvc2 data into a iso/bin file how did you rename it? For some reason i had specific names for my custom marvel data bins that had different music and certain names i had it title for example like "Donut's Custom Mix". When i tried dragging it to bin2boot i had the same problem so i renamed my bin file to just say "Mix" and when i dragged it back to bin2boot it worked :wtf: I think you should just put a random name for the data bin your using.
