Generally the palettes with white for box 9 appear to be normal Rush or other helper. Box 9 should *normally* be part of the main body color scheme, so that's a nice hint. It's strange to note that they were lazy with the charging Megaman color scheme. I'm not sure where Roll is in his color scheme, but that should be in there too.
You don't need to change the Charging Megaman palettes anywhere. Strangely, those are common between all the Megaman types. ?!? I put an asterisk by everything *I* think is important to edit.
Generally for the palette fades, it's darkest to brightest, with palette 5 being the normal color. So you can darken -8 downwards, and +6 upwards, and it looks about right. For the Rush and Beat edits, you can copy/paste the chunk of colors that you want and then directly edit the Luminance on those selected chunks - that's the easiest way to get what you want.

So the basic sequence in the extras is:
21 (first): normal color
22: white flash
23-27: Pretty much the same as 21 (the first), but there's a two box lighter "flicker" that creeps up the palette boxes
For the most part it's probably going to be easiest to edit Iceman by having two PalMods open so you can see the starting palette you're editing for that extra - or to see the normal offset/changes for that color set so you know the color offsets you need for your own selection.

EDIT: Here's my latest round of updates. This was pretty much bug-fixing and tweaks. I updated Tron's Tron palette and her Kobuns to match her Gustaff colors, tweaked Rush to match Megaman, fixed Black Iceman, and added some new mint blue characters basically per the previous hex color strings I used. "Magnus Red/Purple" looks dumb on everybody. Oh well.

Forgive me if this has been covered, do I need to edit extra pallettes with Gief and jugz? Gief concerns me, he has a lot of extra pallettes. Anyone know the exact sets I need to edit? I have yet to burn an actual copy of the game with edits I did on these characters. I know they are crap tier and probably low priority, but I still want to edit them.

hey dont get on him about it, i mean do you realise that this is not his life... he isnt getting paid for it and that this is alot of work, there is a small team working on this project. You guys just have to be patient, and really he could just leave it at this if you guys push him too much
hell if i didnt have a job and a girlfriend i would already have my portion of the project done, but i have to have other folks help me out with it
just relax and wait for the new versoin to come out

yes you do... for gief's mecha and his piledriver super, then jugz power up
put both of them are only like 5-7 palette for each button, just color shade changes

I'm setting up a guide to correctly edit each character from the cast, including: Main Color Frame, special intros/endings, taunts etc. Basically a breakdown of everything there is on their palette, as well as which variants are required to make it look good, not half-assed complete. Kinda like with Cyclops and Storm.
Preppy: Roll is in Megaman's palette cuz of that winning pose where she gives him some flower bouquet. You also need to hook me up with those iceblue colors. :)

EDIT: I found a bunch of the Rolls in Megaman's palette, but I'm pretty confused by where they're placed. Logically I'd think Megaman was sorted (LP palettes, LK palettes, ....), so I may have mistakenly identified palettes previously... ? Oh well - we're moving forward with progress here at the least. Generally Roll shows up just before every time you see the "Magnetic Shockwave" Megaman colors.

A.On the new Palmod. How do I preview my work? As in my preview button doesn't work.
B. How do I make my music files small enough to fit on the disk? when I convert the files from wav. to adx they inflate.

Preppy, some of your colors are misplaced. The first 08 is not an actual iceman color. it's all messed up. Also, the correct numbers to edit him are: (LK color)
LK: 08 LK, (28, 29, 2A, 2B, 2C, 2D, 2E) Extra - For costume // and if you wanna make it truly complete, you might wanna edit these as well:
02 LK (Extra - 0B) - Main Color
03 LK (Extra - 0C) - Taunt (Bobby Drake)
04 LK (Extra - 0D) - Intro (Melting Letters)
05 LK (Extra - 0E) - Special Moves (Icebeam, Avalanche, Arctic Attack)
Some notes on this, 08 and 28 are the same (Main Color), the rest are just shine effects which are basically brighter colors of 2 boxes moving around the ID values on the extra variants. This also applies to Silver Samurai, in case you're wondering. I'll get a surprise up soon.
EDIT: If you can't work the new version, get the img.dat from the new version and overwrite it on the older one. This will get you working images of both Iceman and SilvSam on preview.

Actually yes...because I had the old version and it worked fine. But I never saved the old version to my computer.

Anyone having isues with red characters? Mine show up as really bright, completely eliminating any shading/details. They look fine in pal mod and look good in Nulldc. Maybe it is my tv, but I am not sure. Another color that gives me some trouble is bright green. I probably need to just darken these colors a few shades.

Found out when you have MAX ram (4GB) on your computer, sound recorder (making custom mvc2 music) does not work as far as editing, cutting songs, etc. i couldn't figure it out until i swapped in a new computer with 4GB of ram and still got the same problem. I tried 3 GB ram and still the same problem, once i got it down to 2GB of ram sound recorder works (removed 2 1GB sticks. man that was some real boo sheeet i went through. i wonder if anyone else has had that problem?
so my question is does anyone know of another progam thats easy to use for increasing volume and editing songs?
cause i don't want to keep swapping in and out my ram to get the sound recorder to work. btw the message i get like ( not enough memory, need to shut down one or more applications...)
somebody help this nigga out :sweat:

I use Nero Wav Editor, it comes in whatever with the Nero Suite, and it is good.

all the colors seem to dark... there wasnt too much color on alot of them
the black white thing is ok, but too many people have done it. we like to see outlandish colors and such. but good stuff still

That's a surprisingly good green Storm. The green hands on green Tron are good too. I like Gold Doom/Cable too. :tup:
Don't save your image files as JPG, use PNG instead. JPG files are particularly lossy and that's why you're getting color-bleeding around the edges of your characters. =)
And hey, I *like* normal looking characters that just have better outfits. :smile:

1st: Copy the ID:01-05 from the original color to 01 HK (Extra - 1A) ID:09-13 as shown here (http://66.90.101.162/~combovid/eidrian/PaletteEdits/HK_swing_edit1.png), for the ID:14 is a bit darker than ID:13, so just copy ID:13 to ID:14 and make it darker. This is for the suit part of the swing
2nd: Copy the ID:06-10 from the original color to 01 HK (Extra - 1A) ID:03-07 as shown here (http://66.90.101.162/~combovid/eidrian/PaletteEdits/HK_swing_edit2.png), then you have 2 unedited square ID's, so copy ID:03 to ID:02 on the Extra and make it brighter. Then copy that ID:02 and paste it on ID:01 and make it even more bright. You should have a tone palette like the one on the main pic. he is pretty simple, just look through his palettes and see his default colors then look at which ones are white... just keep those colors white and you should be good, he has about 12 per button, so just keep coping your original edited color, onto the extras but make sure you remember the white sections, those are the only things you edit. first it will be 1 patch of the palette moving from 01-15 then it will be 2 moving from 01/02-14/15 then i think three, its easy once you notice the pattern, its the same for iceman and silver sam. just make sure you remember the pattern, or else your shine effects will be all off.
im not able to look at the files right now, but im sure eidrian might have something written down, since i have been out of comission as of late.

Yes, that does mean there are 33 edits required per character costume. Luckily, the red part of his outfit generally stays around the same color. Only the bib, silver, and the glint will change in most palettes.
The general layout of each set of 31 palettes (ignoring the 03 (button) outfit):
first 6: bib + armor lighten each time. a glint (15/15/15) moves down from ID7
normal
next 3: dark to light transition with roving glint
almost normal with glint in id4
next 5: normal to near white transition
white
next 6: very dark to normal
normal
next 6: very dark to very bright with roving glint
almost normal
I HIGHLY recommend having at least two copies of PalMod open so you can trace the costume changes and see how they do it. That makes it not simple but straight-forward. I have not bothered to figure out which specific attribute of Colossus each set of palettes edits. I'm presuming there's the normal glintiness first, his powerup super taking effect, him being powered up, and I don't know what fourth set would be. Shouldn't be too hard to figure out if you want ... these notes are just meant to be a handy starting point. It's quite nice that his bib is always constant at the beginning of each chunk of palettes to edit.

he is pretty simple, i can do his palette in about 5 min
just keep the original button color copied and paste it onto each extra
just add white... or whatever color you want his shine to be onto these sections of the palette

just select the palette as a whole, and click the luminance slider, make sure not to move it, then press the right arrow till you notice an overall change in his brightness, then stop and go to the next one, just keep the brightness change a constant

you changed the alpha to 0, probably trying to change one of the colors to white,
the ID:00 you do not touch it should be
A: 0 R: 15 G: 15 B: 15
the alpha is the transparency of that color, 0 for invisible and 15 solid
if you want to make a translucent char change the alpha of ID:01-15 to maybe like 12, any lower and they become to hard to see and cheesy
oh and remember when you change it click 'set (A)' then 'apply' or it wont work

1. For sentinel, I get the black boxes for his smoke so I tried to change 01 LK (Extra - 0A) -> A:0 but it keeps reverting back to 15 for me.

1: Click SET (A) if you update the A field. Otherwise it won't stick since normally you should not edit that ever.
2: Copy them to notepad, then remove the space that SRK is putting in the middle of the string. Then highlight boxes 00-015 in the editor, then copy the string from notepad and paste it into the editor. Once you master that, you can do cooler things like copying subsequences. For example, here's a 5 long sequence of blue - (#&F9FFF0CFF18CF17BF049) - that you could copy onto any 5 selected color boxes. So for example if like the shades of Cable's yellow straps, you could directly select those in the editor and then paste them into somebody else's palette. What i was referring to was the program you use to edit the game.
You copy the files from your CD on to your comp, then you open the newest version of PalMod and choose
Load directory > PS2 CD
then select where you copied the files and it should load... or i think so
im not to sure on the PS2 but you can try that
but the PS2 and Xbox apparently are editable

ok look at the number next to storms name
im sure of hers but it might be something like "2E Storm"
but go into the MVC2 data folder, and look for PL2E_DAT.bin
i think thats the file structure
but its the only PL DAT file, its should have that chars number reference and PL and DAT in the file name
thats storms color data
i believe PL = Palette, DAT = Data
that should help ya

ok i changed just palette 19 (extra) to a blue storm and my hail is still green! maybe more of here LP palettes are involved... ....
next i tried changing all of my storm's LP colors from green to blue, and her hail is now RED! wtf!!!
next I changed all of storms LP colors back (from blue) to original (stock silver/gray... ... ) and now my hail is PERFECT (they look like rocks not green slime or red bricks) for all of my storms different colors except that i have that shitty gray/silver color for LP storm.
so conclusion thus far, palette 19 (extra) does not change storms hail color, and somewhere in her extra palettes maybe even her stock LP color affects her hail. had to waste 3 cd's just to test it out. i'm wondering if its a combonation of palettes or just one particular one repsonsible for her hail... ...?
i hope someone can further narrow this down
i'd like to thank all that have been involved and their efforts, and i hope to continue to a correct solution.
btw eidrian i'm gonna attempt email you storms data files bro! :bgrin:

All the other extras are just effects for her special moves, such as the typhoon or the lightnings, including her normals. And I actually found out that 01 LP (Extra - 02), 02 LP (Extra - 03), and 03 LP (Extra - 04) are not used AT ALL. Damn capcom and their lazy asses.
Oh, and for the record, 1B affects hail for ALL buttons, not just LP. So it is like universal palette.

... ... ok i did some more guestimating, that right guesstimating here, it looks like that last box in the 16 boxes per palettes which is box16, is a big controlling factor on part of the hail color! i noticed that on my blue storm her hands at palette 19 was brownish, and by the time they lightened up by palette 1B(extra) those mutha fockas was reddish, thus my damn red bricks for hails!!!
just an overcap so far, her hail color is determined by palette 1B (extra) and a guesstimating strong factor is box 16 in that palette which is her hand color
i know eidrian say (1B) Extra ID:02-08 are her hail colors, but i'm thinking it may be a bit more, especially after getting red hail in a blue storm... ...
anyways eidrian test out that storm file i sent ya and keep us jiggas updated :bgrin:

i know its been quiet lately but, does anybody know how and which extra palettes of capt commando correct his helpers? :bgrin:
i ask this becasue i notice that his helpers are different colors per button... ... i know with all the guru's this can be accomplished!

yeah i had part of them figured out, but not all yet
they are tricky to edit

ok so im trying to finish my custom copy but something went wrong........ well i got to the part where im about to make my dummy file..... and i do it how it says in the tutorial, so that it is about 600 mb....... and then i use cdrwin and do everything, but the part where it tells me to click on the "..." it wont let me save it, it just says save, but it does nothing? and i can't start making my iso file....... is there something i did wrong? was i supposed to open up something when clicking the "..."?, i'd appreciate the help......... thanks

I'm guessing why he can't save his iso file is because he didn't type in a file name for the iso like donut.iso blah blah. He must had left the space blank when he clicked on the "..." icon next to image file and thats probably why he can't save it

yeah i got it done......... i hadn't typed shit on the space, that's why it wasn't working, i feel stupid....... but is cool, my custom marvel came out pretty good..... could be better but i like it

because you having to look for the image means that you dont own an original copy of the game. We can talk about editing a game that we already have, we have paid the money for the game, its not illegal to make copies of a game you already own, as long as only you use the game. if you distribute the game to those who dont own an legit copy, then its illegal.
you can do what ever you want to your system or your games, as long as you paid the company for their stuff. i make copys of my CD's that way i have an unscratched, clean, legit copy at hand. Cause i hate to rebuy games because they get all scratched.

Not exactly, the (1B) Extra has the color code for hail, it's also an extra palette for LP color, so I'd suggest to just move the blue Storm to LP and green to HP.

ummm i have a problem... i got the disjuggler thing.... i set it to mode 2 and cdxa... it burned properly but when i put it in the dreamcast it loaded into the music browser part... when i tried to click game or watever it said please insert game cd or something like... any insite? please thanks

ok check it, every time I burn a self boot copy, adx's 04-06 don't work ever. They either freeze up the screen before the round starts or reset the DC. I've always had this particular problem for a while and I'm wondering if its because I'm using a bad mvc2.iso.
I make all my customs from a custom non selfboot a friend of mine gave me over a year ago. I do all the edits properly and even go as far as to change the music on the stages that don't work properly. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't and i'm honestly quite puzzled on why I have this problem.
I used to think that it was a bad mp3 file i'm converting into a .wav and the DC just doesn't want to deal w\it but I try multiple songs and its always just those stages.

All that stuff you want to edit like Blackheart's demons and Sentinel's hp are shared palettes, just like Storm's hail. If you edit it, you edit it for all buttons, plus they have certain added effects, just like Storm, they are multiple palettes for each one of them. It doesn't seem like it, but finding the extras for everyone has taught me this game is a REAL mess, and I mean it. I'd strongly recommend not to edit super effects or special effects until PalMod has official preview support for them.
But that's just me, you can always do as you please. =P
Oh, and Geronimo needs to answer my AIM msg's. I'm Skychariot there. =]
Edit: I will (hopefully soon) put up a checklist, so you'll know exactly what to edit for those special character so they look correct. There aren't that many though, it's like 15% of the whole cast actually.

Get an Ip.Bin here (http://66.90.101.162/~combovid/eidrian/IP_BIN.rar) (right click > Save as) and put it in the same directory as bin2boot.
Then retry.

yes this game seems rushed, and it even loks as though they had plans for more moves or something for the other chars but they just stopped at one point and finished what they had. I mean there are just waaaaay to many unused extras, and the way some of them are scrambled around, Eidrian and Magnetro know what im talking about
the best advice is what eidrian said, its been a big huge headache for me at times doing this editing, and i know eidrian took it quite a bit further than me, but i thank him for doing so.
just stick with the immediate color editing for now, dont worry about anything else, because you will be tempted to make soime other chantges, and then yu will be pissed off cause its not how you like and you cant remember how it was, and just a big ol mess.
take advice from the guys doing the really in depth editing

i totally understand its a pain in the butt finding these extra palettes, but so far i have pretty much narrrowed it down to the 2 palettes responsible for blackhearts demons, also changed cable HVP, VP, skimitar, magneto's FP, HK, n projectile effects, guile's razor kick, sonic boom, capcom assist. and let me tell ya i have wasted about 20 cds just "brute forcing" shitt as Preppy calls it :sweat: its been some work i tell ya but enjoyable i guess to some degree.
i can imagine its gonna be some time (6months to a year) before that " palmod w/preview support will come out but in the meantime i think thats prolly it as it is very very time consuming and i don't even have chankast or nulldc to ease things

open up 6 pal mods, one per character color. Its ghetto but it could work.
