All I have to say is Playoff2K2 was not well organized. It had alot of backing from companies around the area and they did give away a couple Gamecubes and what not, they only had a couple XBox's. Anyways the list of games was not that phenomenal and the only SF type related game that was represented was MVC2 which I don't play so I didn't really get all the results. They cut CVS2 out of the roster cause they didn't think people played it but mad people were looking for it. Gay status. The brackets were poorly done so you'll have to forgive me cause I wasn't a part of the tourney arrangment. The people who ran it didn't have a clue how to run a tourney and even admitted it :bluu:
Here's a very short results list:

MVC2

1st - Dan (I don't know his last name I just met him a couple days ago)

2nd - Wilson (don't know his last name either)

Tekken Tag

1st - Quang Nguyen - Trophy and X-Box
2nd - Lan Nam - Trophy
3rd - Will Knight (aka Will Gotti) - DIDN'T GET SHIT (only first and second got prizes)
4th - Kevin Travers

I can comment on these matches. It had about 30ish-40 participants. Sucked cause it was on pads and I can't play on pads for shit but I did pretty well for playing at less than half my potential cause they said they would have joysticks and they had pads. I didn't have a stick but ah it was all good I guess. This Tekken Tag tourney was ran like shit cause they didn't have brackets they made them as we went, that's part of the piss poor planning I was talking about earlier. Anyways enough whining a little recap of some of the matches.

The tourney was console and single elimination and after the first round of play it was turned into 1 match from second round on. These tourney people made rules as they went. :wtf: Fuck man. So that means every final four player, myself and the other three went undefeated until semis 5-0 each. Semis on was best out of 3. We played at about the same time so I couldn't watch Lan and Kevins match, so I can't give any details. Lan played Kevin and the final score was 2-1 Lan. I played Quang in the semis and it ended up down to the wire 1 all. Last round my ass got fucked up. Period. Too many mistakes in the deciding round. This was said to be one of the best matches. My non pad playing skills came up and slapped me in the face at the wrong time right during semis when I needed it the most. I could have had a shot at a free X-Box in the finals :( Anyways final score was 2-1 Quang.
In the finals Quang took Lan out 2-0. Quang went on to play the winner from the VF4 tourney for the X-Box my bud Bobby aka Bluemace. Fucked up thing is Bluemace doesn't play Tekken much, I don't even think he plays at all, so this shows how poorly the tourney was thought out when it came to giving away prizes. Anyways Quang sweep Bobby and won the X-Box.

 I buckled under the pressure and lost to a terrible Fox player in Smash Melee. I wasn't completely focused after running around trying to avoid being disqualified in all the tourneys since they were not really using the PA system. I was playing VF4 and got to the finals, then I found out that the other tournaments started, yet nobody told me this! I finally registered for MvC2 and Smash Melee, but then I got disqualified from MvC2 while I was playing Smash Melee!! They just wrote me off like that! I even explained to them I was in another tourney and I just got eliminated w/o even playing a single match in MvC2! Sad part is that I was doing fine with Strider/Doom before any of the tourneys started.

I don't know about MvC2, but I heard people were playing around with the damage settings and the time was set to infinite. Sad part is that the judges running the tourney didn't care that people were doing this.

Smash Melee was a mess. First of all, the tourney was supposed to be 3 man stock. After like people were playing for 25 minutes since nobody wanted to kill one another, the judges got pissed off since everyone was running away and they just changed the rules so it was 1 minute melee.

There was no losers bracket, so if you lost...you are gone!! With this kind of pressure, a lot of people that were doing fine before the tourney just seemed to be playing like total crap!! It was rather depressing since people that I think were good got eliminated in the first round of the tourney!! I made it to semi-finals and I just used all the wrong moves on Fox. I used Luigi throughout the entire tourney and was doing well...before I got disqualified from MvC2 and found out about the nasty surprise...regarding the fact I had to play Tekken Tag in order to win a console. I got a 1st place trophy for VF4 only using Jacky. I was expecting a good prize, till I found out I would only get the console if I beat the guy from the Tekken tourney!

Okey dokey...this is how they did it. They flipped a coin and asked me to pick a side and the game I wanted to play. I picked heads for VF4. They flipped a penny and it was tails. I just basically wanted to cry at this point because I don't know how to play Tekken Tag!! My opponent was also in a loss of words because he felt bad about having to play someone who doesn't know how to play the game. I basically died to 10-hit string combos and I was able to poke him out of it using some punch ( don't know if it was left or right punch while ducking ), but I didn't know what to do after this!! I did get lucky and got in that Phoenix Smasher or...whatever that move is which is half-circle forward and left punch and that hit as a counter for like 70% damage! After that, I just died. It was only one match too.

All I got for this was a trophy and NFL2K2 for the PS2. Sad part is that I don't own any of the next gen systems. I just use Asiankid DD's PS2 since Wilson ( Asiankid DD ) owns all the major console systems. I guess this game is going up on Ebay and hope I can get $30 or something for it, which I doubt since NFL 2003 just came out.

By the way, 1st place for MvC2 and Smash Melee was some slow computers. Dan ( Hyrulian Hero ) got a P2 233 Mhz PC with 32 Megs of Ram!!! Melee winner got a P1 133 Mhz PC!

I'm definitely not gonna participate in any more Playoff events. I'll stick with the EGS Xodus event. Xodus was so good it got Justin Wong and X-cutioner up here!! I'll wait for the next Xodus which will be in February 2003. At least we run the Xodus events like your typical tournaments using brackets and stuff.

Well organized it was not.

But, I did walk away your Western New York Dead Or Alive 3 Champion!

The brackets(if there were any in the MVC2 tourney) were basilcally cut to sigle elimination due to the amount of time consumed by the rampant theft going on. Thats right, theft. Some 8 yr. old kid got his memory cards stolen because he was kind enuff to let the dis-organizers use them to load his complete games off of, because they had not thought to bring any. And somebody grabbed them while they were in the hands of the dis-organizers.
There was no Tony Hawk tournament because somebody actually stole the disc, so they had to cancel the tournament.(I'm not making this up.)

I had to face off against the HALO Champ for a PS2. They flipped a coin(?), so I got to pick which game it would be. I picked DOA3, I won, the other guy had never played it before, not the most fulfilling of victories.

I did walk out with the brand new PS2, a trophy, and a free pizza. Not to bad for spending $10.:D

Ayyo I had to walk out on the Counterstrike tourney after first round. Am I sorry? Hell no. Most players were newbies so it was a mess. People weren't switching over to the opposite team after one round. Rule was if you were CT first round or whatever you had to switch over to T's. People weren't comprehending that. Mostly cause we had alot of newbies. There was no sound and only like 3 comps had it and I cannot play without sound. Can't hear fucking footsteps or random fire to let me know someone is around and I'm not leet enough to play without sound. During the middle of our match they made all the players who had sound turn it off. It was still butt though so after Team 5 won our match I just got bored and left Playoff2K2 totally I was fucking hungry man. Hadn't eaten all day.

I don't know what to do with this this NFL 2K2 PS2 game I got. Its not a bad game, but umm...nobody around here really plays sports games. Ugh, what a stupid prize. Man, I don't think I'm ever gonna go to a non-professional tourney ever again. It looked semi-professional due to the way they were advertising. :frown:

I feel sorry for the kid who got his memory cards swiped. He was cool. Hmm...someone did try to swipe my NFL2K2 game when he thought I wasn't looking.

I really don't agree with the fact I had to play someone in a game I never really played before in order to win a console. I really didn't want the X-Box, but I could have sold it easily for cash. It all came down to the fact I lost the coin flip. :frown: I stopped playing Tekken 2 when I couldn't figure out how to play the game since I couldn't find anyone to sell me a Tekken FAQ ( the game came out when I was in High School...and I didn't even know what the Internet was till I got into RIT...I ain't joking... ) so I couldn't get out of most of the grabs even though I did my best. I saw Tekken 3 come out while I was at RIT, but I figured I couldn't compete with most peeps since I really never was good at Tekken. Thus, I ended up skipping Tekken Tag entirely. I wonder if I'm actually ever gonna win something big someday. This tourney was my easiest chance since I don't have to play people who I know would tool me easily in games like MvC2, CvS2, and Smash Bros. Melee.

Bobby man Tekken 2 is when the series got big and there were tons of faqs around starting early 1995. I remember when they had previews of Tekken 2 in Gamepro around late 1994 and when it came out I just so happened to be going to MCC in late 1995 and had internet access. Alot of people didn't really have internet access around that time frame but that's where my humble beginnings for looking for gamefaqs started. As for Tekken 1 I had to rely on myself cause I didn't have internet access either when it came out.
It did suck that you had to play Quang in Tekken. After you lost the coin flip I was asking the tournament promoter guy if I could take your place for you and play TTT against Quang cause I knew you didn't play. He was like it has to be fair man champ vs. champ you didn't win first place in TTT you got 3rd. I said I know that fucker but I don't want to take his place totally for the X-Box just play for him and try to win it for him since he doesn't play Tag. I was like :wtf: how is this fair and this guy is the Playoff2K2 TTT champ and Bobby doesn't even play Tekken at all and is the VF4 Champ? He was like sorry man I see what you mean now but it's the rules. I said change em right now like you guys have been changing the rules the whole damn tourney and let me clutch hit for Bobby. He refused. It was fucked up. Even if you had of won the toss and chose to play VF4 it still would have been fucked up. This tourney was disorganized as all hell.

ROFLMAO DOA3 Western New York Champion?? Lucky Dippy wasn't around LOL. Not like anyone that was worth anything was playing in that tourney anyway.. just like all the other tourneys. seems like all the good players knew better than to attend this hoshposh. I rarely play MvC2 in fact I have a lot of issues with it and am more in favor of CvS2.. Does getting second place in that tourney mean I'm the 2nd best MvC2 player in western new york? I think not.. not like I had to work for any of my wins the competition was sooo bad there and I consider myself pretty shitty at that game.

 I know what you mean. I wasn't gonna say it but the comp was pretty much next to nil there. I wasn't even gonna waste my time I was planning on going to EVO but too much stuff came up for me right around this time so I said fuck it I'll check out Playoff and see if I can take Tekken Tag. Quang and lots of other people even told me afterwards that if I thought I sucked on pads he could imagine how I played on sticks. He said if I played way better on sticks than pads I would have won the tourney. Too bad Bobby you didn't have a PS2 converter for your MAS :( I would have easily rocked the tourney. He said he should have lost a couple times during our match. I couldn't backdash, forward dash, tag cancel, do simple wgf/ewgf with mishimas, crouch dashes, nothing. Like I said I was barely playing even half my potential cause I couldn't on pads. I wasn't even playing my good characters and blew past 5 people undefeated. 4 of those 5 people were "supposedly" some of the best there besides the 4 of us who placed. I had the "toughest" bracket  Even when I did play my good characters I couldn't do half the shit I could but still won. Plus I hadn't actually played Tekken Tag at all in a long ass time, over a year and a half if not more. This tourney does not make me 3rd in western NY that would be bullshit cause everyone there knows that pads sucked. Plus like I said I don't play on pads. Have another tourney on sticks and there will be different results.

Not only were the hosts incompetant... they were liars! http://www.playoff2k2.com/faq.htm ... read the part about prizes, about joysticks, and take a look at all of the lovely prizes that all the first place winners were SUPPOSED TO BE eligable to win. That's a pretty sweet computer huh? Funny, it doesn't look much like the 233MHZ Pentium 2 computer that I have in the trunk of my car. :fury: But dont worry EFEntertainment, this isn't over  Now, I know that my colleagues have already expounded upon the gayness of how the prizes for first place was actually set up (how it was champ vs champ) "c'mon dude, you gotta be a gamer" - that was the exact statement out of the mouth of the promoter, how insanely, unfathomably retarded is that?! OK... so let me explain how gay MvC2 was, since that's the game I was involved in, and frankly, dont have all time in the world to tell you guys how terrible the rest of the games were set up. When I sat down to play I noticed that all the characters weren't unlocked  So... I had to find the memory card, which the guy supervising the game claimed, didn't exist, what an idiot. Needless to say, I found it, the guy probably didn't even know what it looked like. So we got all the characters, and I finally sat down to play, wipped out my friends joystick since I wasn't about to play on a pad, even though they claimed they would provide joysticks. At that point, the supervisor said I couldn't use it since it would be an unfair advantage. At this point I'd like to refer you once again to the FAQ link at the top of this post which states that you in fact CAN bring your own stick if you want. So... the tournament finally got underway, I won the first round, and was waiting around for the second, when I noticed that some of the winners from the first round were still playing. I asked the supervisor what was going on, and he said you stay till you lose... WOW!!! So, basically you get rewarded for winning by getting more chances to lose, and for the people who suck, if you avoid playing till the end then you can make it close to the last round just because there are no brackets and most people have already been eliminated. So this is what it looked like "oh, you won? ok, stay there, umm hey you, you haven't played yet right? ok, play this guy" everything was random, people were getting called randomly to play, do you understand how rediculous this is? After most people finally realized this guy didn't know what he was doing we got someone else to come over and RESTARTED the tournament. So I ended up eliminating the same kid twice! Now, you might be thinking, well, it sound like everything turned out ok after that... hardly. Check this out! I said, can we please play arcade mode, since everthing is default? The new guy said yea, fine. But once people discovered that once you won, you couldn't pick a different team, they switched back to versus mode. Which wouldn't have been that bad, except THEY WERE PLAYING WITH NO TIME AND LEVEL OOOOOONNNNNNNNEEEEEEE DAMAGE!!!!! I'm not making this up! It's too crazy to make up. Anyways, so in one of the rounds my friend was using his stick so i was forced to use a dreamcast pad :bluu: Wasn't that big of a deal cause of the competition but listen to this. I was doin run-away-storm... built up meter, did halestorm, mashed it... *pause*. I was like, what the heck?! The pause button was soo far away from the buttons there was no way i hit it, so i quick unpause it, finished mashing and *pause* again! The supervisor saw it, and disqualified me from that round! Ha Ha Ha Ha... so i tore the kid a new one since he was like "HE PAUSED HE PAUSED!" What a ***.:lame: But anyways, that's all that I care to remember since I've tried so hard to forget, lol. catch yall later

Hmmm...*looks at Hyrulian Hero's trophy...then looks at my trophy* Err........wait a second here. What is this?!!?? Hyrulian Hero is the 1st place winner of Marvel Vs Capcom!! Not Marvel Vs Capcom 2! I'm the winner of "Virtual Fighter"!! Its supposed to be Virtua Fighter, not Virtual Fighter and where is the 4!??!! Ugh...I guess we better hide our trophies to avoid future embarrassment from guests that visit our place.

On a funny note, the announcers for these games definitely didn't know anything about the games they were running!!! I'm sure Will remembers Tekken Tag always being referred to as "Tekken 2" and Bloody Roar being referred as "Blood War"!! He also commented on all the blood spilling that was in "Tekken 2". I don't remember Tekken Tag having blood at all, but I do know there are hit sparks in the game to determine a clean hit from a counter hit!! Oh, and "Capcom Vs Marvel" must be a new game I never heard of since they said there was a tourney in it, but all I saw was MvC2! The announcer of this Playoff2k2 tourney is funnier than the announcer in Street Fighter Alpha 3! Go for broke!!

playoff2k2 wasn't exactly what i thought it would be. The people "in charge" didn't know how to run anything. The dance compition wasn't exactly my idea of fun and i dont think many white gamers know how to dance. I was surprized by how many people were good at marvel vs capcom 2. I did however consider myself one of the top 5 in that game. I got knocked out in the second round however because I had to face the guy that won it.:bluu: I didn't do well in tekken cuz i don't know much about it and don't really ever want to. I was surprized I beat one guy in DOA3 since i dont own an xbox and i didnt kno any moves. The dumb guy didnt give me a red star so i couldnt play in any game cube games :lame: Did i mention the dance compition didn't really fit in? The DJ only played rap and pop none of that great loud stuff we all love like godsmack and drowning pool :lame: Quake3 I placed in sixth in my round, thats ok for me considering i had no experince in that game either but i learned i loved it. Halo I didnt win at either cuz once again i dont have the great bill gates machine. Other then that I was the only gamer their with a chicken whooper mmmmmmm burgerking. I gotta start to get better at more of the games if i wanna stand a chance maybe even buy an xbox. Alot of kewl people were there, but in the long run playoff2k2 was disappointing :lame: alas maybe next year. If anyones got info about gaming tournaments around the new york area please send me a private message.

LOL, but unfortunately bluemace forgot yet another game that the announcer jacked up. "Ok, we're about to start the super smash brothers tourney, so everybody playing in that please.... Oh, I'm sorry I guess it's the Super Melee Brothers game, so if everyone would please gather around the... oh, what is it, my mistake, the Super Mario Smash Melee tourney is beginning shortly, please gather around the gamecube section now. Once again, everyone for the Mario Melee Smash Brothers tournament, we are beginning round one, please go to the designated area. OK, everyone playing the mario game we're starting it, hurry up." Once again, too crazy to make up.

 Blood in Tekken Tag. That annoucer was dumb he keep calling the names of games wrong and was downright....dumb. I guess the blood shed was cause the 4 of us who ended up in the final 4, stomped the living fuck out of all the people there and went undefeated till semis when we had to play each other and someone had to get eliminated. People were all happy when I lost saying "I guess your run is over" and "Geez, finally". Fucking scrubs. Haters. The only person in the entire tournament who beat me was Quang and it came down to the last round. He wouldn't have even beat me if I had a fucking stick like they said they would have. Pads did me no justice. None of those fuckers could beat me but yet they were happy I lost in the semis a place they would never ever see if the comp was somewaht adequate at a REAL Tekken Tag tourney. Most if not all of the Tag participants there wouldn't have made it out of the first round at a Tag tourney back in Seattle when Tag was played competively. These guys sucked, period. Alot of guys hadn't seen very, very basic stuff I was doing it was pathetic. Mark my words, if we have another tag tourney on STICKS, it's gonna be a beatdown. Put money on me. If I lose on sticks, which I wouldn't against these guys, I'll give you guys a dollar or something. I'm not rich :)

As I walked up to the MvC2 section before my first match I found out that the only way to get listed in the 'bracket' was to just walk up behind someone sit down and wait for an opponent. Then I found out that everyone was complaining that the matches took forever.. I pointed out to the new supervisor that it is probably in his best interest to turn on the clock.. He looks at me funny.. I tell him .. look there's a big infinity symbol where the clock should be.. He's all Oh.... how do we fix that.. I'm all Options. finally they turn the clock back on.. all is normal and I beat my first opponent in 25 seconds. Then I find out that the smash melee bracket has me pitted against bluemace.. and leave for that.. a scripted a good show because I had no interest in winning the smash tourney which the rules changed for 32876287 times... :lame:

ok CJD basically the dj competition thing was basically what Xodus had which you will see listed here on this site. EGS had one.. it was kinda outta place but better than playoff.. what's up with this Playoff gets all these sponsers.. all this false advertising and the event was a disgrace to tournaments everywhere.. EGS advertising wasn't all bells and whistles and was still much better as an event overall although ssbm was messed up in that event.. so sad too.. cuz EGS is a club at RIT and it just goes to show.. if you don't know what the heck you're doing.. you got no business trying to run no show.. especially if you don't even know what half of your events are called. keeping the prizes won at playoffs on an alter.. is an embarassment to all gamers attending... I think I'm gonna throw mine out.. lol..

Oh yea one more thing, registration was TOTAL ass. The long waiting in line cause the promoters were clueless plus the online registration. I know damn well I signed up for Tekken Tag and Counterstrike. They had me on the list for Tag but not CS and I received an email confirming my "good to go" status. I get to the lady at the desk and she says "We don't have you down for Counterstrike". Like I'm supposed to be like oh ok or submit and say I didn't sign up for it when I know I did. This happened to alot of people too. They have a pre-rehearsed excuse saying that that particular game may have been capped out. :wtf: why didn't I recieve an email saying so then? Yet another reason why I will refuse to go to another Playoff tourney for $15 motherfucking dollars

Ugh T4? T4 is the reason why I quit playing Tekken altogether. After 8 years of obsessiveness with Tekken I quit cause of T4. I can play but haven't practiced or played competively for a long time. I'll be in Rochester for about a year or so. I played with SLA, MKP, Cheezy, BitchbettaLeidown, Gsuphosdown, Kain and many other Seattle people. I also travelled to Vancouver alot and Nor and Socal. I played Insanelee alot when I went down as well as many other players around the country mainly west coast. SLA and MKP were my main Tekken Tag partners for much of Tekken Tags heyday. No one plays TTT or T4 at all anymore over there in Seattle except SLA. But yea whenever you want to play is fine with me, either game.

Sorry I'm proud of my accomplishment, but wait, what did you win again?

Granted, there was only a handful of skilled players competing in DOA3, but I beat them all soundly. And don't give me no crap about it being a button masher, it was set to digital, which means VF style gameplay.

And as for the good players knowing better, what were you doing there then? This good player walked in thinking he could and walked out knowing he did. It always seems like everybody knows somebody that can beat you, but they never show up.

excuse you.. oh wait I forgot.. you don't know a damn thing aboug VF4.. Cuz counters actually take skill in that game. yeah so it wasn't set to scrub mode.. doesn't mean that you can't still counter someone while you're in hit stun.. you wanna put your money where your mouth is. Don't you even read what people say about the DOA series? LOL I never considered myself a good player fool.. but I know better than to flaunt around acting arrogant and talking like I'm a effin champ. Dead on Arrival is rock paper scissors.. someone attacks you counter.. someone counters you throw.. someone tries to throw you attack. not much to it. All this mouthing off about some damn dojo.. and now talkin crap to me about winning in a game I don't take seriously. oh you won a ps2 outta beating someone senseless that didn't even know how to play the damn game.. you actually proud of yourself for that? gimme a time and day bro.. I got all the systems and all the games.. and I'm willing to play if you are.. but I get the feeling I'm gonna have to hunt your ass down at FYE and humiliate you in your own arcade. I'm not particularly good at any of these games.. but I could probably romp you in the majority of the games.. if you'd accept the challenge that is.. you stuck up high on yourself punk. I coulda done the same thing you did with bloody roar.. but hell I never lost to some 12 year old kid and made a thread about redemption and then lose badly in a tourney that I claimed to have improved so much on. As for DOA3 being a skillful game or not I'll leave that to more reputable people on the matter. What do you play man.. cuz you're about to get called out.. cuz you are :lame: :lame: :lame:

Cool... well... SC II is the new craze down here... Is there a machine in Rochester yet? I would have quit tekken at 4, but there just wasnt anything for me to move on too... I am shit at Capcom games... That's all they play in rochester... I'm sure u've found that out by now... that and SSBM...

Well... I am always up for tag... I am just rusty... but if u say u quit.. then maybe we're on the same page...

Yea I did quit so I am rusty too. Rochester doesn't have SC2 yet. I don't think they ever will cause the arcades suck bad. When I was home last time in 1998 the arcades were pretty decent but they went downhill from then until that entire 4 years I was away.

I play CVS2 anyways so I'm on good grounds here I guess. Anyways whenever you are available we can get together just PM me with your available times and a pnone number. I am pretty much available all next week except wednesday and thrusday.

you guys who brang the saturn controlers were good at marvel vs capcom 2 i'll give you that much but i'll be looking to take you down next year. It would have been a better tourny If only the best players were in it but then i guess that will never happen.

Nam did say he was rusty. I didn't get to play him even though I wanted to. The only good player out of the bunch I got to play was Quang and even so I didn't get to watch any of his play prior and had to just play him in the semis and adapt on the spot. We had a pretty good match. I don't think he liked pads either, blah. I need to make a stick.

George was really my only comp when i was living there... Nam was good, don't get me wrong, but he really didn't play much. I think he got sick of George's 'I'm the shit' attitude and only played Diablo 2 and Counter Strike on the PC... And the Nguyen bros were pretty horrible when I was living there, but they got better. Cuz they gave me a tough time when I visited a couple of months ago... (in Tag) They couldnt touch me in T4...

Anyway... I am trying to get into CVS2... but the comp is so fierce here it isn't worth it... I get knocked off so damn fast... I thought playing Jai, Gary and those guys was tough enough...

Now I am getting into SCII... I am surprised that neither Greeceridge or Irondiqout has SCII... They are both Namco owned arcades...

I wish I could have played you guys when TTT was big. When I was at MCC from 1995-1997 I played Tekken 2 and 3. I was the best there at that time but I never got a chance to play alot of RIT guys back then cause I didn't have my car anymore so I couldn't drive around everywhere. Alot of RIT guys heard about me and were constantly challenging me but I never saw them. When I told them to come to Irondequoit Mall, Greece, MCC, either of the Putt-Putt's. They flaked out on me telling me to come to RIT as a cop out. Then they said Putt-Putt in Henrietta. I would show up at the designated time and whoever was there I rocked. Don't know if it was any of the guys who challenged me but shit never went down as planned. Now years later I can travel anywhere to play but I am rusty in just about everything cause I haven't been playing video games alot anymore. As for TTT I played a couple people from here back in 1998 like Josh Pryor (CVS2 player now) who's in Sacremento now, but around that time I was in S.Korea just on leave in Rochester so I didn't get to play alot just a one months worth. So basically all my TTT days were spent in Seattle and Tacoma, WA.
When I left Seattle about 2 months ago I was ranked 14th out of about 40 something players but since then I've obviously fell off and since being here I haven't played CVS2 much either cause some places had CVS2 in Seattle so I could always play familiar faces like Rat, Cody, Rowtron (CVS2 scrub, ), many many other good players. I miss that atmosphere.

Oh yea Irondequoit Mall is just about kaput now most the stores are closed as well as the arcade. Greece Mall's arcade is shit and Marketplace has no arcade at all anymore. All the arcades suck here.

not really to be honest.. if you want to do any competing in the arcade nothing beats a good Joystick.. but then MAS are getting expensive these days.. I never was big into stick playing.. had a friend build one arcade like for me.. but it just don't click with me and I'm not willing to commit the time to actually become good.. so I play casually and sometimes I'll find a game I may play more like Capcom vs Snk 2.. but in the arcades.. I'm your run of the mill scrub cuz I can't do jack on a stick.. so I guess in that sense I'm a casual gamer.. either way though.. it's all about just playing the game and having fun in my eyes..

anyway, karma's just excited because he knows he'll probably never see the finals of a tournament again... unless he makes a serious effort to improve. karm, if i were you i'd spend less time patting myself on the back and ignoring the mile long trail of asterisks attached to my victory and spend more time learning and training so i could achieve victory in a tournament that actually means something. in fact i shouldn't even be using the word "tournament".

i know infinite must be glad he couldn't find a ride to this thing. i know i would have been pissed if i made the trip all the way from flushing to go to that crap. egs should go to all the sponsors of this event and make sure they sponsor exodus as well. i mean if they threw money away on this garbage, they might as well spend their money on an event thats good.

Man. I must say that this tournament was pure Grade-A garbage. There were so many things that sucked about it that it's not even funny. I would've felt better if I was sick in bed vomitting on myself than if I would of been at this waste of time.

Okay, so here are my opinions on this "tournament."

Before It Began

We had to wait in line for about a hour to register for this crap. There were a bunch of people that were turned away from this event because apparently, all the games were completely filled(50 people is a huge number, you know). At first I felt bad for them but afterwards I wished I was one of them. I could've used my ten bucks on something better such as Kool-Aid and Jamaican Beef Patties.

Super Smash Bros Melee

I must be cursed or something. This is the second time that I've entered a SSBM tournament and have been disqualified because of idiots that don't know what they're doing. It feels stupid waiting for your name to be called off only to find out that they started the 2nd round of the game and you haven't played yet. I may be wrong though. I have a theory that there is an invisible gremlin that follows me around. Whenever I sign up for a Smash Bros tourney he magically erases my name off the list so I can't play it and then begins to laugh like Iori.

I watched some casual play of SSBM and I must say that most of the SSBM players were absolute crap. I'm not saying that I'm an expert or anything but it was just so sad. :( So many people altered the rules to their liking which completely screwed things up. Just imagine this scenario:

5 Man Stock FFA
Hyrule Temple

If you don't realize what this B.S. leads to then I'll tell you. Basically, all 4 players would run away from each other until they finally got bored and begin to fight each other(except two friends that would keep running until they were the last ones left). When the two friends were finally left after letting the other two kill each other they would finally end the match and let one or the other win.

Average Match Time- 25 to 30 Minutes.

Does anyone see a problem with this?  Thanks to these excellent players a.k.a. MORONS, the real rules for the tourney were changed from 3 Stock Melee to this:

1 Minute Melee
1 vs 1

Again, since the players were able to choose the stage they would fight on everyone chose Hyrule Temple and ran away until Sudden Death ocurred and the match changed into who could dodge bombs the longest. These moronic rules changed SSBM from a fun fighting game into,"Super Sudden Death Dodge Bombs.":lame:

That's all I'm gonna say about SSBM exept for one more thing...

Anyone that was actually at this tourny and used the tactics mentioned above...You REALLY, REALLY SUCK! You would never win in Time FFA, which most people only take seriously. Just stay at home and play in your "Impossible to be killed" scenarios in your various games.

limirsmath

My Opinions on this crap continued...

Marvel Versus Capcom 2

Another tournament which was ran by the players themselves... People were changing the rules left and right, altering the options, pausing the game so that they could talk to their friends, etc. Hyrulian Hero was almost disqualified because the crappy controller he had to use kept pausing on him.:bluu: I thought I was that master of using weird teams but some of the players at this event take the cake.

 This thing was such a borefest. There were only a few people that were decent at this thing. I haven't destroyed people this bad in a long time. I was getting freakin OCV's with Megaman because apparantly most people don't know how to block. I guess I now know how Justin and Friends felt earlier this year at Xodus...

Congrats to Hyrulian Hero and Asiankid DD for getting 1st and 2nd in MVC2, aka Capcom Vs. Marvel. I've been shown that it's finally time for me to stick with a good team, which will probably be ?/Strider/Doom.

P.S. Being tied for 3rd place sucks...:bluu:

Bloody Roar

I don't know what happened in this except that the announcer kept calling the game, "Blood Wars.":D

Virtua Fighter 4

Read Bluemace's messages...

Tekken Tag Tournament

Read Will Gotti's messages...

Dead on Arrival 3

Bad Karma won. I plan on winning this at Xodus if they have it. After playing today I suddenly ragained some of my cheap Ayane tactics from DOA 2 and plan on getting back to 100% in a few days.:D

Tony Hawk

Tournament was cancelled because someone stole the only copy of the game. :shakes head:

Other
Who knows, who cares...

I'll say this again. This tournament was worthless. If next years tournament isn't greatly improved from this one then I'm sure many people will not be attending it. Badly planned, badly organized, just plain bad.

Man Gary this tourney was truly booty tooty ass. I was really tyrying to go to EVO but tickets were too high until like a week or so beforehand when they suddenly dropped by like $600. All of a sudden, one of the Oregon guys calls me out like 2 weeks before EVO cause he said he had beef with me and said he'd pay my way but ended up bluffing. This guy is all talk, he didn't think I'd take him up on his offer. Anyways check out the NW forum for what went down Truking/EVO2K2 (http://shoryuken.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7255)

If you told me, you could've taken my stick out and rocked that junk tourney. Anyhow, I've been out of the loop and was going to pick Bobby up after work. Maybe he'll fill me in.

I dunno if he wanted to fight me or not I wasn't looking for one, but when someone calls me out for a big event I'll make it an effort to come. I knew him a little when I was living over in Seattle and even met him once at Tekken 4 regionals in Seattle back in January. I didn't even know he had a problem. He didn't have a problem with me then, but all of a sudden he just got smart with me in the general forum and got his panties in a bunch over nothing. He said he'd pay my way and all this other bull jive and had me waiting so I didn't even get to go to EVO. Part of it was my fault for depending on him to come through with his offer which obviously turned out to be a bluff. He denied wholeheartly that he wasn't bluffing but if he didn't come through he was bluffing cause I would have came.

Yea I was in the army in Fort Lewis. I actually was supposed to go to Kentucky after I left S.Korea but I fought my orders and had them changed. Kentucky is not for me. Shockingly I never played TTT in Korea although I looked for it. I didn't know where all the arcades were in Seoul and all the ones I knew of didn't even have TTT. I asked some electronics places in seoul where TTT machines were and they always said it will be in soon. TTT was already out in Rochester by then so I knew it was out but the places I went to just didn't have it. Now that I think about it places like Pusan and everywhere south of seoul are the places that had TTT and I was north of Seoul. I was pretty pissed cause I knew the koreans were the top players in the world and I couldn't find a arcade that had TTT. All I saw back then was SC1 and Beatmania all over the place.

Where was the food they promised us??!! The food vendors never showed up and most people left because they were starving and because this event sucked!

Funny part is that Game Craze was like seriously sponsoring the event and they never showed up. Generally, the Game Craze store chains in Rochester are great since you get used games for awesome prices, but what they pulled was stupid. They were supposed to be the ones running the tournaments and since they didn't show up, we had people who never ran tourneys before...trying to run them.

There was supposed to be Chinese food there!! People are complaining about Evolution 2K2 sucking, but this is far worse than Evolution! At least they had food there and great competition!! The fact they were in a prestigious school is like awesome!

What ever happened to the human sense of humor?
Where did it go?
When I tag a smiley on the end of a sentence, its usually to show that I'm not all that serious. Oh well.;)
Now I got bounty hunters on my tail threatening me at this game and that, I don't care how big a price Jabba put on my head, you need to relax.
The only point I was trying to make in my previous post was:

A. I won the DOA3 tourney and I was proud of myself because I won a PS2, and I've never done anything like that before.
And...

B. Yeah, I am one of the better DOA3 players in the area, and I don't care how skilled or unskilled people think you need to be to play it.

But these points are lost on those that take EVERTHING as a personal attack.
If I remember correctly, it was the Kid that started this by putting down the DOA3 tourny and players, all I did was
defend my honor, now someone's all antsy in their pantsy.

And guess what, I got my ass handed to me in MVC2, thats right. I don't remember making any claims of victory
in advance on that one, guess I didn't improve as much as I thought, now did I?
Guess I'm not the greatest thing since sliced bread afterall.

yes picking your own oponent in the first round of mvc2 was kinda odd to me. I just waited for some kid that was about 9 years old and didnt know how to play to show up which was okay because that made it so all the weak players got eliminated (not like in some other games) I'm still wondering how my friend who sucks at it got so lucky he got to face a weak player the first round then his brother the second( his brother is weaker then he is at mvc2) Then in the 3rd round played somone that was good but still like the easy match in the round. Well maybe it was just me maybe the hunger pains from only one meal that day made me delusional. If i knew my way around downtown I would have ran to a fast food place and came back before I missed anything. But then I wouldnt of had to do that if They had stuff there!!!!!!!

OMG, I can't believe how bad that "tournament" was. I don't think I can say anything that hasn't been said by now in this thread about the "organizers". Damn, the one guy that started to take over MVC2 seemed to know what he was doing and said he had run a bracket before but the organizers kept getting in the way. Even though he was helping because they asked him for his help!

As far as the comp... well, the last time I played MVC2 was over a year ago but even I was able to beat on some of the people there. Sad. I did get beat pretty bad a few times by the few people that knew what they were doing. I expected as much since I suck at MVC2. I haven't played any games on a competitive level since I moved here away from any kind of a tournament scene.

BTW, there was an article in the D&C the next day that mentioned Playoff2K2. There was a quote from someone that I imagine was Bluemace talking about trying to track down Bad Karma.

I haven't met anyone from Rochester on the boards so I was wondering who was who there. I think I know who Bluemace and Hyrulian Hero is now from the posts in the old thread and this one. Bluemace, you were the short guy wearing glasses carrying the black bookbag that came in with a MAS stick, right? And Hyrulian Hero was the blond guy that won? You used the joystick with the stubby stick and the big green buttons? Like I said I'm curious since I don't know anyone other than casual gamers in Rochester. Anyway, I was the runt dressed in black with the long hair in a ponytail using Spiral.

Yeap, I was the short Puerto Rican guy with the bookbag and the MAS stick :)

Hey Dan, Terrance thinks I'm a chicken for not playing MvC2! He doesn't even know I was disqualified for not playing in the first round of that so-called tournament! If someone had called me over like they said they would ( using the PA system ), then I would have participated in the tourney!

I think I saw Chen Juice Duce over by the MvC2 area when I was going hysterical due to the fact that I was trying to make sure I was registered for everything! That reminds me...why did they pre-register if we had to register again once we got inside?? Ugh...I can run a tourney better than that.

I also saw Tormut Rose there too. He was going nuts too trying to help. I felt sorry for the situation he was put in. :(

I saw Bad Karma, but didn't get to play him due to me going insane at the event!! I honestly lost it for the duration of the time I was in that room.

I wonder if our apartment is gonna be able to take down the Dojo? There could be some interesting matches. I'll pull out my Virtual Boys and we'll link them up together to play Tennis. :)

Seriously, what the heck does the Dojo play? I know about SF3, but I don't play that game! :( The people to play in that game are Jia and Ultima. Jia is a monster in that game, but Justin Wong and Omar can tell you about Jia.

I guess for info purposes, here are the games I play:

*Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo ( I'm below average due to the fact I don't play this as well as I used )

*Street Fighter Alpha 2

*Street Fighter Alpha 3

* Super Smash Brothers Melee

* Dead or Alive 2 LE ( I'm mad rusty at this )

* Pocket Fighter

* Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo

* Super Monkey Ball

* Tetris Attack/ Pokemon Puzzle League ( same game )

* Virtua Fighter 2

* Virtua Fighter 4

* Capcom Vs Snk 2

* Marvel Vs Capcom 1

* Marvel Vs Capcom 2

* Marvel Super Heroes

Those are the games I know I'm competent in. I'm not saying I'm average at those games or that I know the game engines so well that I'm god-like. I will say my best games are MvC1 and Alpha 3. I can play MvC2 and CvS2, but I think I handle myself a bit better in MvC2 than CvS2. Its kinda hard to tell for sure since I don't play these games in an arcade and I used Chinatown Fair as my testing grounds. I got spanked in MvC2 badly, but in CvS2 I did a lot better in CF than I expected ( Sanford did beat my entire team by mainly using Jab. I was using Ryo, Sagat, and Balrog ).

If you guys wanna get together or something, drop me a PM in SRK or look for me on AIM. On AIM, my handle is:

AssemblySucks

Why the stupid nick? I had to program using Vax Assembly for a course at RIT and it was the most annoying language I have ever seen! It felt so archaic it wasn't even funny!! It pissed me off so much that I have a great deal of hatred towards the programming language known as Assembly!

I never go to the arcades anymore. They all suck ass through a straw. I used to stop by the Irondequoit Mall Time-Out every now and then but it closed. I think Greece Ridge has a MVC2 machine. Well, they did last I checked a LONG while back. If they still do how 'bout meeting there on a Saturday? I should do a lot better on a standup cabinet then I did at Playoff despite the lack of practice. Come on, I was playing on a frickin' Dreamcast controller ferchristsakes!!! I did try one match on one of the joysticks but the feel was kind of weird and I couldn't do much. Hell, I did better on the pad. :(

I'd be interested in getting together with ppl from here for some comp. My best games are SFA2, MVC1 and MSH(though I'm pretty rusty in MSH). I'll play just about Capcom fighter though. I only got to play CVS2 once, but it is something I have a strong interest in playing. I might have a hard time meeting people though since I'm a married old fart and my daughter was born almost 6 weeks ago. Sleep is now a foreign concept. ;)

There isn't one that I have seen and I've looked everywhere.
If there is one in Irondequoit it's in some obscure hiding spot like Irondequoit Hots or something. Not that anyone plays but there is a CVS1 machine at Adventure Landing in Greece, but even that is messed up. The sticks are angled crooked and there is no forward on both controls.

We all need to get together. Maybe my place may be suitable for this event. I would probably have to move some furniture around. I'll tell you what. Um...leave a time and day you guys are free and we'll agree when we should meet. Once that is settled, I'll PM you all with my address and stuff. How's that?

Like Mario would say, "here we go!":

Thursday 8/14: not free till after 8PM
Friday 8/15: Free all day

Hey Soshi, I remember you from a thread way back actually, but now I have a face to remember you too. You used spiral, cyclopse and cable? I was surprised to see a spiral user there, since I was fully expecting very marginal competition. I could tell you hadn't played in a while is all, but I dont blaim you since you have more important things to do, I guess if you get this good (and trust me I dont think I'm "good") it just means that you are playing explicitely for prize money, or your really really bored.
I'd be down with playin on saturday at greece ridge, but i might be workin so it'd have to be in the evening to be safe. Aright, time to play dark age, peace

Yep. That was the team I used. I started using Spiral in COTA so when I heard she was going to be in MVC2 I freaked. Too bad until Playoff it had been a yr since I'd played. Before that time a few months had passed since I'd seen a MVC2 cabinet. All in all I've probably played 2-3 times in the past 18 months until the "tournament". I guess I take it kind of seriously when I DO play though since before moving to Rochester I was a regular on the tournament circuit in NJ. I attended the Break tournies for a little of 2 yrs and went to ECC'3, '99 and 2K. I try to keep my reflexes in some semblance of decent shape by playing the few fighting games I have for my console. I guess I'll be shooting for this Saturday at Greece Ridge. Laters,

speaking of hamburger men I had a teacher that loved beef more then hamburgler. His name was mr.wallace and he was fat. Everyday he'd come back from lunch to class with a biggie size drink in his hand. He told us a story of how he ordered a hamburger from wendys with everything on it yet they neglected to give him the beef patty. He went back in thats wendys and asked the guy wheres da beef. Also he told us about how his wife went to wendys and saw a bum on the way back, and gave the bum his hamburger he said he was mad and yelled at her. that made me laugh i don't know why any of you would care but we were on the subject of hamburgers and I just think its funny. o Lunch moms are pretty funny too like my old one mr.shepard he was bigger then wallace and loved pasta and hated peas (we asked him what he liked to eat and what he didnt like to eat) he tripped on a ball outside and almost crushed a kid O i forgot to mention wallace broke a chair a big metal chair. Now anyone who read this whole message i'm sorry it's so off topic but hamburgler made me think of all this:lol:

Well, I prefer anytime after 12 on Saturday. Hmm...I need to talk to the guys here to see if they can pick you up Soshi. I don't have a car...so I'm stuck at home most of the time on my PC doing either geek related stuff ( aka programming or reading about Java and C++ crap ) or I'm playing video games. The problem is that Duce can't get to my place...cause its too far from him. Seems like meeting at Greece Ridge Mall is the only solution to meet up with everyone, but I am not sure if they fixed the MvC2 machine there. My dilemma with going to an arcade is that I'm like flat broke and I gotta pay my bills within the next week or so. This week I ain't getting much so I gotta beg my grandpa to help me cover my monthly cell phone bill for this month. :( On top of that, Mario Sunshine comes out soon. :(

I've been lurking on this thread for a while, and I wasn't going to say anything, but fine. I'll grace you folks with my presence. :p

Don't know what to say about the "tourney", except hard luck to all those who went & suffered. I feel your pain. :(

Man, this weekend seemed to have a lot of shit going down. There was this farce of a tourney, !B6, and in my country as had a big anime festival (no joke! Actually the 3rd of the year!) on Saturday. I played the roll of security guard for the "mature" anime section - remind me to give you guys the whole story to this at some point.

To those who asked, no I haven't graduated. I still have Seniour Seminar (BLEAH) to take. I'll supposed to be taking it online Fall quarter, but I keep forgetting to sign up for it. Say bluemace, you recommend any professors in particular? Anyway, my intention is to graduate at the end of Fall (my current co-op will have finished by then), and return to the US around the end of the year.

Lakitu:

NOt coming back in the Fall? When are you coming back anyway? Don't forget you have an MvC2 beatdown coming your way, as well as a Peach-seeking Elbow with your name on it.

Suresh:

As you know, you and I met at ECC4. bluemace and AsiankiDD are friends of mine, as well as being decent players (Lakitu is also a friend, but is still working on the "decent player" bit :D ;)). Hyrulian Hero, StupidIceClimbr (lol), limirsmath are all pretty cool as well. These guys should give you some good competition in whatever floats your boat. I'm some 2500 miles away from Rochester at the moment, but as I said above, I hope to return around the end of the year. By that time, I expect to get my ass handed to me by 7 year olds of doom (inside joke here) because I would't have played anything seriously except for maybe MvC1 and HF for over 9 months (except by Lakitu, because he sucks that bad ;)). But we'll see...

I need a damn rematch in MVC1. When I saw you choose Zangief during our match at ECC2K I froze. I had a horrible flashback to being violated by Viscant's 'Gief and the Triple Option the year before during casual play. *shudder* Between that and getting beat down by 'Gief in matches vs Sirlin and others at the various ECC's in the various SF games I've developed a bit of a Zangief Phobia. Though it's not as bad as before. 2 years without horrible encounters like that have alleviated the fear... to a degree.

Jamie, you mean "Kung Fu Soccer"? That is supposed to come out this year, but not sure why it isn't out yet. I thought it should have been out already.

As for Senior Seminar, I suggest taking it with either Glenn Kist or Ms. Saari. You could take it with the uber globalist and economist, Mr. Robert Manning, but umm..he makes you work quite a bit...but there is no community service involved...which is a plus. You do have to watch boring lectures every week though. You do get to put a presentation together for him. My presentation was "Daimler-Chrysler's impact on Globalization." I just basically talked about how they abused Mexican and German workers by using them as cheap labor, etc. I got an A+ for the presentation and the paper.

Hmm...ugh...once RIT's academic quarter starts at least we'll have EGS Social Night so we can play NES and arcade games on working joysticks!! YEEESSS!! I'm done handcuff lightning!! *imitating Jacky's continue saying from Virtua Fighter 4*

Okay. I was just informed that even if the joysticks are broken, that it shouldn't matter because "You gotta be a gamer! Gotta be a gamer"!

I know I'm never ever gonna hear the end of, "You gotta be a gamer," each time the joysticks are broken or I'm in some hopeless match. Anyone who went to the stupid Playoff2K2 knows what the, "You gotta be a gamer," saying.

Really, if anyone is having a major tournament and something screwed up happens, like the machine blows up or the joysticks die on your or someone manages to squeeze out a win, they should reply with "You gotta be a gamer! Gotta be a gamer!" and use it without being sarcastic, like the people at Playoff2K2!! I really hate this line and will use it to piss off people like those who pissed me off at Playoff2K2!! Mark my words!!

since when has anyone called you "jay"? he's talking about tennis 2k2 and hot shots golf. grifter would never beat me in a real game (and by "real game" i mean mvc2 and smashbros.) and he knows it.

anywho, who's the best female character in 2k2? one of my friends has it here and my davenport has been leaving him with so many doughnuts you'd think my name was krispy kreme. can you feel the love garry? you will soon enough.

Bobby:

NOte: Concerning Seniour Seminar, I'm supposed to be taking it online, if that means anything. So I don't think I'll be watching any boring videos every week (I hope). :p

Jason:

I thought the "he just shows up standing tall and administers the ownage" part might have been in reference to me. :)

That's "Gary," ace. I only mention the games you can handle because you haven't sprouted a pair to move on to a manly game. Of course, you insult one of the few things in life that you're decent at and turn around to ask for tiers. In a tennis game. Think about that.

Don't know how tiers go, tho. Too bad I can't match Pierce against one of your male characters. You might get close then.

Bobby, you don't have to wuss around the conversation like it's an actual confrontation. Jay's cool and has a dry, sarcastic sense of humor that suits me and makes for some fun exchanges. He knows that he can't really match up.

Edit: And he doesn't bring any ownage, but is packed to the gills with pwnage.

Just got back home.

Looks like the screen was finally fixed.

I've got a question: Who was who?

I was the guy in the red shirt that played Ruby Heart.

I recognised the Magneto player because I had played against him at MCC before; I don't know what his name is, though.

I think I've seen the B.B Hood player with the Rob Johnson jersey before at MCC, too.

I'm going to take a guess and say that the Cable, Doom, Ken player with the glasses was Bluemace.

I don't know who the Spiral player was, though.

Anyway, I wish the sticks and buttons were in better shape than they were; I couldn't really dash at all on that left side, and cancelling into supers was pretty hard, too. The sticks didn't allow me to do a lot of what I wanted to do, and sometimes fierce would randomly cut out, but all in all, it was fun, though.

It was cool that the guy at the arcade let people get all those free games; I only ended up spending three bucks the whole four hours that I was there.

I was the Spiral player. Hyrulian Hero(Dan) was Magneto, Bluemace was Cable/Doom/Strider/Ken. Lamar(did I get the name right?) used BB Hood IIRC. Don't know his SRK nick(if applicable). This was my first time meeting everyone. I had a good time. Though basket case that I am I clammed up quite a bit. I tend to STFU when I don't know people well. :lame: Oh well, hopefully there'll be another chance to have another get together before long. ;)

Maybe we can meet up again this weekend. I'm working at Wendys most of this week, but maybe Friday or Saturday may be good. I'm not sure if Dan or Lamar are gonna be around those days, but maybe we can pick you up or something. I need to play you in MvC 1 since we didn't get to play that last time! :( I'm hungry...gonna eat my 20 chicken nuggets for $2.

Will Gotti I am in Rochester; call BlueMace if u want to get some games in... I play mostly Tekken. But can play some CVS2... if u want to play MVC2 well, my six yr old little sister would probably be more of a challenge than me...

So, if you thought it was unorganized, what would you have done better? We believe that it was successful and our sponsors as well. Look putting together an even of this caliber is not easy at all. You try it on a scale like we did with a very tight budget. The event had to take place for the gamers in the community. The bad part is that no one wanted to participate in the effort of continuing the event to make it an Upstate NY gaming event.

Anyhow, EF Entertainment, Inc. is looking to produce Playoff2k5. We apologize for not having our previous events put together as well as we planned. It was very hard to even produce an event on that scale in Upstate NY. We were lucky to even pull it off. The problem is that there wasn’t enough community support and too many conservative people who didn't want to see it happen any way. Games are too violent and etc. Although some may say PlayOff 2k2 & 2k3 was unorganized, it however made a mark in the Upstate NY area. From my understanding, just about every promoter is trying to produce a gaming event. We sparked the interested of many companies to invest in the concept. Oh well we moved our ideas and concepts forward to a new community. Now we are looking to produce it in the VA area instead hoping that we will get the type of support we need.

If you’re a devoted gamer, contribute to the effort by giving us your ideals on keeping the gaming competition alive.

Take care.
