I know this isn't the greatest fighter in the world but the counters won't be as scrubtacular as DOA3, judging from the movies I've seen, and isn't bad for a fun fighter. To me this game is more VF lite (very lite) but should be fun online as already mentioned by DreamTR. Maybe my curiosity to see for myself how the game handles online has got me intrested...

Feel free to discuss

Yeah, but I think its the best 3D fighter(very, very close but no cigar SC2), but not all-around, thats for sure.

I've got my copy preordered. Its a pity it got pushed back again though. *shakes his fist in anger* October 12th is the new date. I'm beginning to wonder if Team Ninja is getting off on doing that or something.

I will play this game to...

As long as everybody remember that VF4 is a more technical/deeper/more balanced game(and makes it better because of this, maybe the graphics are not as good but the rest of the game is so MUCH better then DOA U will ever be).

I wish and hope other companies go to the measures Team Ninja goes to, espicially SNK, to ensure it's games are as good as it possibly can be on Xbox. While I don't particularly care too much for their games, I have to give them props for going the distance when it comes to their games on Xbox. Depending on KOF's and SFAE's online connectivity this might be the only fighting game I play on a regular basis online. Hopefully other companies, Sega in particualar, look at what Team Ninja does with DOAU and give us an online VF with the connectivity and features on par with DOAU (assuming the hype about the online play is truly what it cracks up to be).

Yeah I'll pick this up for the hell of it. My Main 3D game for the time being is MK Deception though. I can never play DOA for long periods of time because its so easy to win on that game just by mixing up the timing you press attack buttons and the counter button. Its definitely more fun than VF4 though. You might as well learn a real martial art instead of playing that game. My Fav 3d fighters are MK and Tekken though. I like SC2, but the sidestepping in that game makes most of the moves useless, and Xiangua is a bitch in high level play.

i dont see whats the point of it, it feels too random..

I like it, but I wouldn't put it in the same catergory as VF4 and SC2.

It does feel awfully random, like paper, rock, scissors, because the counters are so easy, and so damaging.

Then again, I've never seen two really experienced players play, so this could just be my scrubbiness talking.

I'm also not looking forward to playing all 3947237432652975 Jann Lee's that come online. Ugh.

sorry i gotta put tekken on top of doa. sorry but i love its engine alot better than anything else. anyways yeah im pickin up a copy

NEW DATE: online preorder form ebgames : 25th Oct.

btw anyone who thinks this game is scrubbby, it is as you ahve assumed, you ahve not seen 2 experienced players play. I know for a fact my friends on this board DevilJin01 and BB Hood01 are some of the best Doa players out there. especially deviljin. you guys prepared to get owned . 1 on 1, im not sure i stand a chance unless i pick hayabusa and then its like what 1 out of 7 matches i might win. hes got that game down to a science.

Definitely. I've already got mine paid off. But now the question is do I get Mortal Kombat: Deception now... it really wasn't part of the plan, but after my disappointing experiences with GG(and you all know CVS2 lag well enough), I'm dying to get my hands on a Fighter that runs smooth consistently. I just feel like I need some hope(and quick) for AE and Fighting Evolution. But I expect DOAU will be nice. It's been getting a lot of hype for that, even from Team Ninja. I'm not even a huge fan of the series, but TN's achievement leaves me excited. I think they have raised the bar.
And as someone else here said, hopefully others will follow in their footsteps in terms of implementing good net-code for Fighters.

Yea I'm getting DOAU just to experience the online mode where you join up with a group of ppl and play with the winner staying and others spectating. Now if only I could use my headset with my ps2->xbox converter

I've just pre-ordered my copy of VF for Dummies: Ultimate.

It's a fun game, and if the counters really have been toned down (like I keep hearing) I'll have even more fun with it.

Yeah it does. I don't understand the hate towards a block button, shit works wonders espicially games like VF where you can start to bring your leg up by pressing the kick button(duh) but then cancel it set it back down to fake yout oppenet out ny thinking the will counter the kick when all you have to do is block and counter or reverse there counter, side step,go into another move,... Shit, sorry just had to get that off my chest.
The block buttton in this game doubles as the counter button as well as the button to free up 8 movement I believe, hence why it's called the free button. Although I was reading in a teamxbox interview with Itagaki and he mentioned you could use the analog stick to move about and block with it but I'll have to check it out again since typing about it it makes no sense. Sorry about the little block button rant. :china:

Just finished reading the feature about online play on ign and this shit sounds pretty cool. Alot of the stuff has been mentioned before but some new stuff like being able to change your screen name for this game, so you don't have to go by your GT is a pretty cool feature it still keeps your stats and ranking even if your screen name is different from you GT tho' . The reveiwer mentioned that in the states the online play was smooth(of course they said the same thing about #R, thank god for DreamTR) but he mentioned that while playing another editor from Denmark the game lagged. That sucks since playing gamers from Japan without lag would kick ass but oh well.

I couldn't resist :razzy:

Anyway, that's a wait and see. After seeing the match vids at doacentral.com. I belive a scrub doesn't have a chance against someone who plays this regularly like Tom Brady or Virtua PAI at the doacentral boards. I myself am still a little skeptical. I know what you mean tho', in DOA3 my friends brother did nothing but counters so I ended up throwing his ass(in the game) the whole time. That shit was frustrating because, at the time I liked DOA and was something other than VF I liked to play in the 3d realm. For DOAU the timing isn't as leanient as DOA3's since it's based off of DOA2 (DevilJin01 might argue with this but I know I'm not the only one in this assumption).

Sorry if that was too long and hypicritical. But now I'm thinking DOA does have rewarding gameplay but it's a lot harder since the counters are easy and high damaging.

I picked up DOA:HC last night for the PS2 and yes this game does have a block button like I mentioned in the last post but you can also hold back on the d-pad/analog stick.

yeah it will just be a mashing heaven for those who suck too much for a real fighter. dont get your hopes up for a real game.

i cant wait to see all the dumb fuck "doa masters" act all cool cause they outmash their opponents.

Umm. Mashing gets you killed in DOA.

There are 3 ways to block in Doa:

A) Hold the free button
B) Press and/or hold back
C) Press and/or hold d/b or d/u to block while Free stepping(in 3d).

*Btw. You do not need to hold down the free button to free step. Just tap Up/down.

-No. Contrary to What others would like for you to believe, A masher of any form cannot beat a well versed player(that is good anyway). The first sign of a good player, is knowing if he or she is poking to set his or her opponent up, as well as their understanding of moves with priority, speed, safety(from being retaliated against), moves that give frame advantage, and their ability to execute these things. You will see just how good your peers will be when DoaU ships

Hey cool, didn't know you posted here. Thanx for the input about my counter problem (the one I posted at your site), whooping that fools(my brother) ass. I knew about not being predictable but the other info came in handy.

BTW, I thought they changed for this version of the game, that you didn't have to hold free then tap up or down to free step. I though it was more like DOA3 in that regard.
