Controller Problems

So I picked up Xbox live with a number of online fighting games, one of which being CVS2. Now, when I start playing, the controller will not set to what I configure it as, and only three of the buttons work, being both heavy attacks and the roll button. Note that I cannot even attempt to change the controls in game, as it only lets me change the vibration function.

I have both the Pelican universal joystick, and the controllers that they have been putting in the Xboxs recently. Has anyone had this copy before, or am I doing something wrong, or is my copy possibly defective?

maybe you are on eo-mode? switch to ac after you pick your groove

Yeah, thanks. I am a complete idiot. I was testing out on Chun-Li, who I play in C-Groove, so I am used to rifling X to get through character selection and didn't even notice the two different control styles.
