SVC Chaos Thread Review Lag Tested vs Japanese/Hong Kong

SVC Chaos was released overseas today. I played 14 games so far, and the lag is comparable to CVS2 lag. HOWEVER, if you are a masher, there are times if you press buttons (like Light Punch or Light Kick) rapidly to get the moves out, there is a distinct possibility the moves will come out twice. To compensate for lag, I pressed jab twice with Dhalsim numerous times, and the game actually caught up to my button pressing as opposed to negating it. This will be interesting, but I seriously doubt it will have much affect against anyone in the USA, just overseas.

Also, YOU CAN ONLY PLAY ONE MATCH, there is no option on a session to play more than ONE game. You can enter a lobby and keep inviting which is the fastest way to get matches going. Maximum of 8 players in a session.

good that's all i'll probably want to play anyway lol. man why is this game 50 friggin dollars. i want to buy it just to support 2d fighting games, but with GG at 19.99 and Cvs at 29.99 at launch, $50 for an inferior game just seems hard to swallow

yeah i was planning on buying all the 2d fighters to support but 50 dollars.... like i said before i wouldnt pay .50 cents in an arcade to play chaos why would i pay 50 dollars.

snk is going high with prices, the 2k3/2k4 bundle is at 40 dollars. ill most likely buy the kof bundle then wait for gamestop to get a used chaos for like 20-30 bucks.

Dream, did you noticed they fix universal charge? I can charge DB with Guile and now get flash kicks out, I couldn't in the arcade.

Anyway the game seems a little easier on the controls to me and the way they changed the effects was very welcome. I just wish they ran a filter on the backdrops cause some really look lackluster. On the bright side the character portraits when they talk shit to each other before a battle look great. And yes this game is in 480P, the intro looks fantastic, a shame the whole game couldn't look that sharp!

BTW Color Edit mode is very cool as the names you can display are a lot longer than those in CVS2. Also the sound effects have a lot of "oomph" to them, lighting people on fire, or getting knocked down really uses that BASS. As far was editing the soundtrack, sorry but no ADX in this game, seems to be using the XSB, XWB formats which I know of, but never could get them to work, if anyone has info, please PM me.

I noticed on the Demo that it played much nicer than the arcade version and the cleaned up effects are cool also. $50.00 is steep but I just want to support SNK and Capcom any way I can.

I was actually pleasently suprised they put this game on the xbox, I always walk in their hoping that just once they would have a 2d fighter on there, since there are literally no Arcades in my area. I ended up winning all my matchs against random people even though I was playing horribly on the s-pad I barely could shoryuken lol. I found the game to be actually pretty fun I may pick it up just to mess around with.

Just picked up SVC and its alright, thereis just two things aboutit that REALLY pisses me off. One the one match bullshit that fukin sucks and GC is just as hard for me as GGXX Live air dashing. Maybe its just me, but I think that one match shit ruins the online feature.

I bought this game in the morning and I have to say its a pretty good game so far.

Yes their is no rematch feature but their is a Lobby room were you can stay with a group and keep rematching people.

The touched up on the graphics and supers.

At first the lag was bad when I first played it in the morning.

But now the lag is better then CvS2 lag. Some people have pulled on me though? What does that do to the score, I hope not like CvS.
The Geese infinit is their because I have done it.
Zero's I have tried repeatedly and can't get it off. So their both hard to do so are practically irrelevant I believe.

I also tested out one of the glitches. On arcade I could always do the instant Earthquack kill with Hugo. On X-box I can't so they removed that.

I just got this game on friday, 50 bucks is way too expensive but I'm desperate for a new fighting game. The retouched graphics are pretty cool, fireballs has the transparency look to it. For some reason, Earthquake looks HUGE in the xbox version.

I bought this game for online play, and I have to say, its pretty disappointing. The lag totally ruins the game. Forget about doing comboes, you'll be lucky to pull off 2 in 1s. Good luck try to play people in japan, there is almost a half second lag to it.....for some reason they play like there is no lag to it. :tup:

Anothing thing I dont like about this game is they put super akuma and Athena in the game, and I've seen people abusing then online, lame......

Ok just played combo breaker's random ass... All I have to say is the lag is fucking garbage. Thise dude is supposed to live close to me. Only like tops 45-mins to an hour away and the delay felt like fucking ny to cali in cvs only a little bit worse. About1/4 to 1/2 second delay. Shit sucks...

I got the game a couple of days ago, and it seems I can't even pull off a simple flash kick or sonic boom. What's the deal? What's the "SNK" way of doing a charging move? (I suspect you must press back then forward, and cannot go from a defensive crouch to forward to throw a sonic boom)

Also, I've never played the game before, nor any other SNK fighter. Is there an online guide somewhere that explains the mechanics of the game? For example, what happens when your super meter is at "maximum" and is counting down. I'm just trying to understand the gameplay mechanics. Any help is appreciated.

Well for charge moves with controller I found its much easier to do them by taping them instead of rubbing.

Like charge downback tap up +kick etc. And it works pretty good that way. Not sure for joystick though.

Maxmode you can do as many supers as possible before time runs out. You can also supercancel/specialcancel moves as well. You can also combo any regular attack.

SvC just has crapped controls. I can do charge moves in KOF just like I do in Capcom games, but this game just seems to be on a whole other level of retardedness. The Xbox version is especially different as well, because for some odd reason I can't do Mr. Karate's db, f + k to save my life. I'll load up the same rom on my Xbox and it'll come out fine, using the same controller and everything.

All these moves not coming out makes my head spin.. :tdown:

Yeah I cant get Mr Karate's kick to function right either. I can get it like 1 out of 10 tries.

For some reason though I can play Kim and not have a problem with his charge DWN,,UP+K move. Now Guile....shiieet. Cant do that very well either.

Mr. Karate's downback>>foward kick isn't hard if you tap it not rub. All charge moves are easier if you tap them with controller.

Yea, Earthquake is pretty good, but he's virtually unplayable with lag. I'm pretty sure most of you already played my earthquake . My gamertag is FIRE HADOKEN.....and I'm actually getting my ass handed to me right now :sad:

Yea, I fought the other earthquake player a while back. We had a couple of earthquake vs earthquake matches and we were dead even. We eventually had to gave up because for some reason, cuz quake vs quake tends to slow down the server and game ALOT!

I dont think I've seen zazzenen yet.

My earthquake is actually work in progress, it will be better. :tup: Ryu is actually my best character but I cant do crazy comboes with a pad and with a lag, so I stick to characters that is eazy to use like earthquake just for now :badboy: Just wait till I get my stick and you all will see the power of RYUUUUUUUUU!

Accord, I don't fear any Ryu in SVC Chaos. Dhalsim matches up well against him. Just like how EQ matches up well against Dhalsim.

Berserk, I would not play him again in GG because the connection is only "Good". It is very, VERY hard to play unless I use the EXCELLENT conditions. SHin, Send me an invite. Did you know Ed Tang is coming to stay at Geoff's apt this weekend?
