Xbox issues

Is anyone else having a problem with their xbox not reading brand new discs? This causes huge problems for me in cvs2 live (going to the yellow diamond screen and not loading) and I did some looking into it and it turns out that a bunch of xbox's got shipped with this faulty thomson dvd drive. I was lucky enough to get one. I tried calling M$ and they want to charge me $100 to get the shit repaired. Did anyone else have this problem and get it fixed? I want to fix it myself but if I open the xb case it voids the warranty and MS wont fix it. :tdown:

I don't know if I have a Thompson drive. My Box is about a year and half old now. When I first popped MK:D in, it made this nasty noise like it was scratching up the cd inside. Heard twice so far...

You'd know if you had a thomson. I wouldnt care if my drive made noises so long as it could read my fucking games.
