The lag makes our matches way too scrubby. There was just way too many whiffed moves from our side (probably the same for you too). Needless to say, anyone who can normally play us on Z, please refrain from playing us on XBL...it's just sort of pointless = /

Thanks for adding me Jazzt, next time ill mix it up a bit. To answer your question, yes i did beat demon grim in the session that we had but left once the lag kicked in. I dont know how his end was but im assuming that it was much better because his execution was superb. Is it possible that the lag isnt equal on both sides?

Demon Grim, the reason i declined your multiple attempts at a rematch is because i couldnt handle the lag. In the last game we played I had a 1.5 second button delay whereas it appeared that you had none or were simply uneffected.

you should learn ST Gief. He's a more fierce beast compared to SSF Gief IMO. Since when is ST considered New Skool?? Well, regardless if you think it's BS or not the fact that the OLD characters still have their original strengths(IE damage factor for regular moves) put them in a whole BS category as well....but that debate has been beaten to death.

Just bring your best game....and I'll do my best to bring mine. No matter the result, it pales in comparison to side by side play :badboy:

Very GG's last night to Lukesballs. Thats the longest set I've had with annyone since I started playing this game! Good stuff. I was VERY stubborn when it came to fighting your Bison. I wanted find ways to play against him cause its been a long time. Frustration got the best of me towards the end though and I became a punchng bag lol.

Well you have several options. Amazon Uk (www.amazon.co.uk) has a stray dvd volume that contains only the first 4 eps. But im sure you're interested in the Australian releases. So far, Madman Entertainment (www.madman.com.au) has released 2 boxsets (with more to follow in the future). I think each set has at least 20 eps. Madman sells them for 59Au (i think) which is only like $35US. They do ship internationally. I would recommend just going to www.ebay.com.au aka Ebay australia and keyword "Voltron dvd." There should be several international sellers that offer global airmail.

If you can't find a seller that offers international shipping and don't feel like waiting for 2 weeks (Madman standard international delivery)...just PM or AIM me and I'll find an overseas retailer for you :tup:

NOTE: You must have a region free multi-national dvd player to view the pal dvds. In other words it must be able to convert PAL to NTSC...region free ntsc alone won't do it.

No one takes greater pleasure then having guys eat fbs then we do. Some guys prefer combos, whereas we just love that junk :bgrin: Of course its only effective when you can walk and or late dp :tdown: aka something I couldn't get off last night. Connection seemed fine on our end. We live in Los Angeles. No offense, but speed 3 is way too fast, allows scrubby jump ins...and we still came out on top. Our goal is to search and destroy. Just imagine if we played on default speed and side by side? The beat down would be more immense. You would get punished for every missed uppercut, jab or otherwise. Until next time, lads.

Thawk can 360 or uppercut out of it...but you have like 1 frame to do it in. Practice with a friend. My friend also plays Hawk and we practiced that for hours....it's escapable but its all timing. That's what makes new ken such a bitch. Thats his versions of the tick 360 :)

That shit is crazy hard to get out of on lag, because of the 465 frames of blockstun, even if the lag is slight. There is such little time for reversal that if you screw up the reversal command by more than a frame or two, you end up eating 25%-35% damage. If Ken can land the kick throw 3 times a round (God knows he has a lot of setups to get inside and do it too) then he basically wins for free.

I agree, and thats half of the people i play, GOOD PEOPLE too, its gotten to the point where its like this war of attrition between me and the people who do it. Our cursors go round and round as we jump around the character selection screen threatening various characters, until finally *chime* it selects our character because the time ran out. What's even more fun than that, is that this isnt only limited to character selection...oh no, this can even happen with the mode selection. Ill move down to "Turbo" while the other guy waits and goes to "Super" (or whatever mode he thinks is better suited to counter me), oh but if i dont select "Turbo" and go to another mode, i get to see their cursor move in panic as they wait to see what mode i might select now. I guess i should take it as a compliment though, because the one person i did it on that didnt do it to me first, was on someone who was giving me a good beatdown after beatdown... Vintage/dark gaiden/old skool sf. I usually play on my other gamertag EVIL E8, but every time i play you guys, i really cant outplay you with just normal chars vs your normal chars, you are too tough, i continue to try but its like 20% win ratio. So like last night, i sat there just trying to counter character you, but you still milk those wins off me, good shit btw. But my point is, i did it then because the opponent was better than me, so maybe its the ultimate compliment.

It's great IF you can find someone close enough with a good connection.

If M$ could find a way to make every match peer-to-peer instead of going through a network of XBL server points then MAYBE it would be close to Zbattle quality.

It's good...but not great. Trust me, I have already gotten really mad that I just let them take the win and exit the game because I know damn well had we been playin a Zbattle style connection or side by side I'd WAX them for free....but over all it's not bad. I have played on some very playable connections against people in the USA.....against players in Japan FORGET IT.

Amen! Keep preaching pastor! :clap: Jesse is so right. The best connections I get are from guys who are within the West Coast. Playing against Calipower (So Cal), is the equivalanet of playing Zsnes on Lat(latency) 2.5, playing Dream (So Cal too), lat 3. The best connection I've had so far is against Dakkmonic (Bay Area). Playing against him was like playing on Lat 2->which was very good. Playing against East Coast players is a chore at times. I often think that I'm best suited playing against East Coast Players through Kaillera. I could only begin to imagine if half of the guys who play HSF2 (including the elite plyrs) would show up on Zbattle. While I wouldn't say I would sell my Xbox, but I would definitely have reservations about purchasing another Live Subscription Card :wgrin:

Is it worth getting? I guess that just depends on what your defintion of "worth" is. We bought a new Xbox, went through numerous adapters (which we paid for overnight delivery), drove to Mas Systems on a few ocassions to have our pads customized to work with the so-called adapters, and then paid for next day shipping for the import of AE through Lik-sang JUST to play some good old skool matches. Given that good old skool matches are hard to come by, we didn't really see it as a choice.

OF COURSE, if everyone just hopped over to Z, that would definitely save you some trouble :cool:

Even if the connection was good, don't bother. I'd beat you down. Online play sucks and only gives the advantage to scrubbier players. Don't do it, not worth it. If you want I can play you side by side and throw you at will...if you'd like.

I played VS Dream Theater tonight and the connection was superb! Just like Lat 1. I am in Houston, and I dont know where the hell Dream is but the connection was by far the best I have had against anyone.

Great set of games, Dream. Your Honda is a tank! Like I always said....Fei VS Honda is like throwing spitwads at a tank. I didn't wanna counter character you with a shoto, so I wanted to keep trying to see if I could beat him with fei....but the results weren't all that great! Your Guile is patient as fuck too!

You're right, I never jump. The only way I am completely capable of avoiding FB traps is to use Sagat since he can jump over them when you see them coming. I never liked landing on a FB, then having to block another three in succession. Just seems like too many players rinse and repeat with the FB traps with Ken/Ryu for some reason. Which is precisely why I hate shotos!

Damn, if tourneys were like Japan, some Ryu is going to win all the time since he seems to be the only one without a definitive weakness, and that includes against a good Dhalsim. Even Balrog has his mismatches =)

Jesse, I know what you mean about the charge character thing. It might be your setup, or the positioning you are in ? I dunno...they are not as reaction based as shotos, and you have very good reactions as it is. Yeah, that is why I like Sagat on shotos =) He can actually jump over Fireballs! YAY! That is my biggest problem in that game, fireball jumping. I land on 20382389238829 of them. Sagat has this perfect angled jump over them. I LOVE IT! Also keep an eye out for NIN 50K.....he's a very solid player. He beat me 4 straight, then I finally got a win on him with Fei VS his HF Gief...after that I caught up and won 5 straight to tie at 6-6 with ST Ken....whats odd is right after I tied the score he either pulled or lost connection. His Fei isn't bad at all. We were playing on Speed 2 and the connection was ok....not the greatest but very playable.

Can't wait to play him on Speed 3 if he's down for the challenge.

I just got this game today and the only stick I could use with no lag was the Pelican and DP's were for shit as you could see. Forget trying to play Chun - charge moves were even worse. Matches were smooth, tho. Almost like real time. I would have kept playing but I gotta drive to the airport in a few hours and I need the sleep.

Anyways, in a couple weeks I'm on break from school and I'll probably be on like every day. I'll figure something out stickwise or just play when I'm over Phi's or something. This could be fun. But you should still come out to the Break more often. Give us a reason to start playing ST again haha.

Alex, hey what's up. That's funny, I'm playing on the Pelican also. It's the only stick I could find that doesn't have button input lag. I gutted the whole thing and replaced the stick with a Competition stick and convex buttons. It's hard getting used to the "ergonomically correct" button layout though. Otherwise, it works great now. ;)

With the amount of damage and tricks that the OG characters have I don't see what the big deal is with New Ken's knee grab. Even whey I TRY to do those setups I get reversed quite a bit so either you are playing someone with a shit connection or you need to work on your reversals......but knowing how you play I would assume its the connection...right? :tup:

Does any converter work good with an old PS1-based Mas? All I know is my Walmart converter input lags like a mother and that other thread is confusing and irrelevant to me considering that I won't be spending more money on sticks anytime soon.

Alex, I went through 4 different converters with my MAS stick, 3 of them lagged to different degrees, and one just flat out doesn't work. Your best bet is to just mod the Pelican with some new parts. I don't know how handy you are with soldering, but I've never soldered before I modded the stick, and it was pretty easy. I changed the buttons but left the old switches in and they work fine. I just had to solder 4 switches for the new stick I put it, it was fairly easy.

Holding the Back button while selecting STURBO will give you the Arcade ST version. You'll hear a different ringtone when you press the proper combination. You can then go at it with walking Super Chun at your heart's content.

JSJ, I replaced the stick with a Happ Competetion stick. Really easy to swap out, the whole thing took about 20 minutes, with my mediocre soldering skills. Definately worth it I think. As for the headset, you know, I haven't tried it yet. I will tonite. If you hear a constant stream of cursing comming out of the speakers on your end, I guess that means that it's working. :) haha.

Xbox live SFAE is peer2peer just like Zbattle. It uses OPTIMATCH servers as matchmaking but once you connect to another person, its host/client relationship and has nothing to do with xbox live servers outside of pinging them now and then to update friends/players list etc.

Yeah, i dont mind playing in super slow motion as much as you mind playing in ultra hyper super turbo speed so we can play on speed 2 next time. there really should be a 2.5!! but anyway, yeah i was way off last night, i dont think i got the short fierce once and thats my money shot!! I wasnt counter-charactering at first, but then it seemed like you just wanted to try and milk me for wins with hyper bison, and for me that shit is ALMOST impossible to stop once the setup starts, so i was like, alright, zangief it is, but then when i beat you with zangief you were like, alright, guile it is, vs my zangief. then it just went on from there, so, i did start the counter-charactering first, but that bison stuff isnt exactly "Fun" either way. With fun being my #1 super ultra reason for playing, i dont wanna fight against that bison stuff all day, im not saying its cheating or cheap or anything like that, but no doubt its difficult to defend against, but i like playing against you, so i had to use a stronger character for it in hopes that you would stop using him, which you did, but then you were CC my chars. so now im looping, but either way, yes, a tear was shed by our baby saviour. Yeah, i dont mind playing in super slow motion as much as you mind playing in ultra hyper super turbo speed so we can play on speed 2 next time. there really should be a 2.5!! but anyway, yeah i was way off last night, i dont think i got the short fierce once and thats my money shot!! I wasnt counter-charactering at first, but then it seemed like you just wanted to try and milk me for wins with hyper bison, and for me that shit is ALMOST impossible to stop once the setup starts, so i was like, alright, zangief it is, but then when i beat you with zangief you were like, alright, guile it is, vs my zangief. then it just went on from there, so, i did start the counter-charactering first, but that bison stuff isnt exactly "Fun" either way. With fun being my #1 super ultra reason for playing, i dont wanna fight against that bison stuff all day, im not saying its cheating or cheap or anything like that, but no doubt its difficult to defend against, but i like playing against you, so i had to use a stronger character for it in hopes that you would stop using him, which you did, but then you were CC my chars. so now im looping, but either way, yes, a tear was shed by our baby saviour. Btw, they really should make online fighting games blind picks. That would be fun!

I wanted to say that to Lukesballs from the beginning but I am not very good with words. I feel you 100% on this. :clap:

Yeah man, playing on speed 3 is really bad for me - I just feel like the game gets super scrubby at that speed because with the lag (even with slight lag) and everything you basically have to predict what people are going to do, and reaction becomes less important than random uppercuts and fireballs. We know the game is faster than normal arcade speed 3 for US boards, and you have to react to things within a split second. I have bad positioning when I play (I play on the floor, with my back against my couch) and not being able to stand up really affects my ability to DP sometimes. Speed 3 affects that even more, so I always feel like I'm running at about 60% of my game. That's why I pick charge characters quite a bit.

And Mike, you know as well as I do that the entire ST game is just one big counter-character fest. At least with AE other characters can compete and counter-characters don't have to be used 100% of the time. I don't play that way though - I'm not that good with a lot of characters, so I mainly just stick to the few that I know (Guile, DJ, Bison, Ken, Ryu, Sagat, Balrog) in HF mode. Very rarely will you see me pick characters outside of this circle. I know at least one of these characters has a good chance of winning a match against one of the characters that you may pick, but I'm not going to run to Cammy if you pick Ken or Chun if you pick Dhalsim. I just think to myself, "Oh, OK - well, I think I can do alright against Zang with Guile; I have experience with this match", not "Oh, Guile counters Gief so I'm picking him". Remember that I picked Guile even before you picked Gief, and you could have easily just picked HF Ryu and beat me down easily. But yeah, that would be cool if you only saw the character select box on your screen, and didn't actually get to see who the other person picked. I agree with you though - everyone (well, mostly everyone) likes to have fun when playing. If it's not fun for you to play against Bison, I won't pick him anymore, or at least I'll try to refrain from doing repeated crossup psycho crushers. Because that's how much I care. =) I'm sorry if you thought I was trying to milk you for wins, but I wasn't really. HF Bison is probably my fave character in that game, and has been for some time. I have been playing him since I first picked up the game like 7 months ago. BTW - WTF was with Honda hitting me with his big toe from a headbutt? I didn't know his big toe had a hitbox.


Jesse: I wouldn't really say that the whole Bison thing is any harder to avoid than the whole ST Ken knee bash thing. I mean, the easiest way to avoid it is to simply not get hit by it, right? Or simply block the crossup and try to throw me afterward. Is it any worse than eating a 50% 3-hit Rekka Ken combo after I whiff a sweep? I know it's not exactly fun to play against, but playing against ST Ken and losing 50% or more of my life to knee bashing is not that much fun either. I'm not hating or anything, 'cause we've been playing these games for many years and you know that I accept anything that goes on in-game as part of the game. But it's cool - I won't pick Bison anymore if it really does annoy you that badly. No worries man, I'll just have to step up the game (or what's left of it) with my other characters. :pleased:

Well, it's kinda like what Forty was saying.....you do that crazy crossup psycho crusher with bison and players have to blindly guess which way to block ....either they guess wrong and eat the entire hit or guess right and block and then mash to try and get out of you throwing them. I am not hating, nor am I trying to justify what's fair and not but I wouldn't consider that tactic in the same category as Ken's knee bash setup because I get reversed all day long against some players(NIN 50K and CigarBob come to mind). You have to admit that it's damn near impossible to reverse Bison's crossup psycho crusher..... I dont' care that you use it....infact I am all for it....but when it's the only move that he does 5 times in a row then I think to myself "Ok, he wants to play like that" and that's when I try to take advantage of the closest thing Ken has to Bison's crossup crusher and that's his knee bash. So it turns into a cheese fest to see who can exploit who. Is it fun??
