Question: Does the lag affect both players equally? I've had several, seriously laggy games where nothing connects and combos don't link up, yet my opponent wants a rematch after the game.

I mean, I often get actual pauses in the game during fights. It gets pretty bad.

I think there are only 3 Ibuki players there - myself, Nate, and another Ibuki player that's really good. Compared to the rest of the guys there, I'm not that good tho. =(

You can cancel the first hit of an ex. Flash kick into SA2. It's difficult to do and doesn't do much dammage though. You can't combo a regular flash kick to SA2 though. I think he meant my j.HP, MP, l.o.v., xx SA2 combo.

As for Oro, that spamming keep away is the only way I can play him, especially aganst Chun-Li. I probably would have lost anyway if you hadn't tried to parry the super art.

I got that impression since you quit after that Q match, and you started taunting back with ur Ryu in front of me lol. Prolly the most useful taunt in the game. I always hesitate when using Q cause when I play ppl that don't know what his taunt does, they'll think I'm being some asshole when I'm taunting lol. I wish all players knew about this. Q users do that once there's an opening, so don't take offense to what I did =P.

You can cancel a regular flash kick into a SA2. If you are facing right, instead of going down to up and kick, you roll the stick from down to up-right (kinda like the old school Sagat Tiger Knee Motion), and push kick for the first flash kick, and then you cancel the flash into the SA2 by quickly doing another quarter circle forward and press kick. As far as I understand this works because the 3S engine counts the roll from down to up-right as both a charge and a rolling motion, as long as down was held for the required time. It's a bit like when you cancel into Urien's Aegis Reflector off a Chariot Tackle.

Parrysome, you did that twice to me, unless I am seeing things, and that's why I gave you props, as it's pretty tricky to do, even more so when you put it ontop of the j.HP, cr.MP part too.

Yeah, thought I was getting away with more than I should :pleased: I'm in the UK mate. Normally only have lag issues with Italy, Japan (who doesn't). People in the states and most of Europe normally minimal lag at worst.

Just jab it or Dragon punch it, u can also dash forward or back [in this case Alex can mix lp stungun or mp stungun to get ya on the dash]. Basically do some fast move to hit Alex when he's descending from the stungun animation, remember u can't jump out of it if done correctly into the blockstun of the elbow chop. CHEAP! :tdown:

Didnt notice lag on my end but a couple people were one and done with me so it might be my connection. My x box wouldnt connect the first couple times I tried to log on so there might be something going on with it. My connection is usually good so maybe theres something up with my line. Remember though im more of an SNK fan than this SF gobshite.

1 - The lack of characters on offer. The lack of character choice probably highlights the obvious tier problem, when out of what... 16 players? People mostly stick to 5: The shotos, Chun and Urien. On an average day just how many Kens do you play against?
2 - This game is SSSooo unbalanced. It seems like some characters were more in favor with the developers than others.
Chuns Mega-Priority HP for example, or her link-on-to-anything-auto-pilot-super-combo... 100% stuns with Makoto (which i admittedly use sometimes) or the auto-confuse-cross-ups with Alex or Oro, to name but a few. Yes these things are all in the game but IMO they dont need to be.
3 - I also dislike the cheap tactics playing this game online promotes. I.E its nigh on impossible to parry or even block a full screen tackle from Urien, which of course almost forces you to choose an equally scrubby character to stand a chance. Even when i win online (or offline) There doesnt really seem to be that feeling of 'WOW that was a great match.' or 'what a mix of characters you chose'.
4 - The fact that Capcom decided to focus so heavily on the throwing element in this game. Yes, fair play to them, you do have a chance to escape, but all that ends up happening is that you no longer feel like trying to connect a combo after your opponent whiffs an attack. You're more worried about being thrown
and so press the buttons like crazy. After every air attack is blocked what do you do? Most people mash buttons to avoid getting thrown.

I think overall im just dissapointed that a game like this should make it online, while the superior KOF games arent. I can hear the arguments already. 'KOF sucks, yadda yadda.' Yes, Perhaps online it would have similar problems with lag, but as the games have always been (94&95 excluded) combo based i think they would be much more rewarding than this game which seems to favor hiding at the back of the screen rather than attacking with a satisfying string of combos.

Yeah I kindy made my own style with Chun Li several years back. Alot of people where using her high priority cross ups so I mixed it up because I played against alot of shoto players who could DP at the drop of a dime. But your parrying skills are great.

I don't know how long you've been playing it, but before i got this a few (?) weeks ago, it had been years since I've played a Street Fighter. Almost a decade since I've played a Street Fighter against another person (Alpha 2). And this game is much different than the others I normally play (like RB2). So I'm coming to this as a whole new thing. That's one of the reasons I avoid using the SF2 characters. I'm trying to learn a few characters and get somewhat decent with them: Alex, Necro, Oro, and Q (all of whom I used today)...rather than suck at everybody, which is my other choice. Later on when I feel comfortable, I'll branch out more. On the plus side, the few characters I use aren't the top.

I'm not trying to win every match, and if I lose to your Elena (which I do) I'm perfectly happy, and if you want to pick Chun-Li and out-priority poke my Alex with c. MP until you have meter to super art me to death or whatever, or pick Ken like you did today and fireball-uppercut me, that's fine too. I just don't get how you're cool with that, but you can complain about a spamming Oro in that case. We know how long a match lasts if you choose her and I pick Necro. And I wasn't picking Oro against Hugo or anything.

But I guess you can make a list of the characters you don't want to fight, or the tactics you don't want people to use against you, then you can have more fun. The good thing about Live is you have 1000 choices of people to fight against.

If somebody leaves the game before your victory screen shows up then it will count as a loss for both players. Kinda sucks but it has been this way ever since CvS2 a few years back. In order for the problem to be fixed Capcom would need to change the whole design of the ranking system. They are just too lazy to do it. It is something that cannot be fixed with a patch.

Are players avoiding you online? :lol: Id just try to build up as big a friends list with non droppers and fun competition as possible. If you like I can PM you the gamertags of some of the good players I have found so far :tup:

This is a damn near perfect game, i dont understand why you brought up throwing to me a major problem with the game, when the reason why they make you puch the 2 weak buttons to throw is so people whould stop calling it cheap..Plus, if you can react to it, u have the ability to counter the throw..F***ing perfect :pleased:

On Third Strike, i can get my ass beat by damn near anyone and not be suprized about it (except maybee by shawn)because everyone has theres ups and downs and it just seems to me that the did a really good job with balanceing out the characters.. Sure Urien is a easy character to use( like damn near every charge character in every game) but he's far from unstopable.
I think what gives him the overall edge in the game is the shield super. It fucks with peoples head and forces them to change up thier game.. That unbloackable shit i do admit is cheap, because i dont belive in useing the games glitches to get the uperhand but unfortunately not everyone thinks like that.

As for ken.. i realy dont thinks he's all that great at all, he's got nice overheads and kicks and shit, but u rarely see people use it because all they wanna do is lk,lk, super (the only super andone ever uses)

Chung li is the same thing, yea she got a nice hp, but so does dudley, much better than her's even, its faster,harder and stun's much easier.I think personaly Elena is the most broken character in the game if any. I just say that because she gota move for everything and allll of them hit multiple times..And a healing super,why dont people capitalize on that??

Well, I use the patented "low lov reverse FB kick" w/ or w/o lag. I don't intend to play "lag games", its just part of keeping the pressure on. I am used to playing people who don't parry (my two friends who play SF w/ me here in PA), and the tactic has become a bad habit that I'm trying to break.

Hah, man, we both had crazy comebacks in that session. You and Dream Theater both have that rushdown Necro that fucks me up. Alot of the West coast players have that aggressive style that I love to play. As far as just using Necro you can use Necro all you want. I need the experience playing a good Necro player. I like to mix it up as much as possible. The ones I know well are Remy, Ken, Urien and Akuma. You may have sensed I'm just pickin up Dudley. Shim Sang Joon and myself often mirror match with Dudley to see if we can learn some sort of game, combos etc. It's all good :pleased:

I think you've got a good mix of characters already. I like the variation!

I have a habit of playing someone, thinking ggs, then after leaving XBL and signing back in I completely forget who I played :p Talking about Hugo, he's the character I've used the most over my many years of playing, but it really doesn't show :p Even more so online at times. I've played some people who use Hugo and beat my Hugo, and all they do is either j.splash or st.MP.... we're talking non stop. Now that pisses me off cos thats just plain lame. Oh well -_-'

Sometimes, when I see people are clearly going to run away I just go for it - I'll be chasing them later with more energy. Then, there are occasions when people play so conservatively that I taunt in the middle of the "action" just to telegraph the message "Look, if it weren't for me this game wouldn't go anywhere!" You'd be surprised to see how many of said turtlers understand the point and somehow admit their "guilt" by immediately rushing in... Usually attacking so carelessly to fall straight into a 360°or 720°. :bgrin:
It is known sometimes forcing the opponent to play in a way he isn't used to is all wee need to win a difficult battle. And taunting often does the trick for me. :wgrin:
Said that, Hugo's taunts are too slow to be useful agaist good players who use every opening to deal damage even when playing defensively. It used to work against you a lot in the past, but now I'd get kicked and SA2'ed in no time. :sad: ... Actually :tup:

Taunting is different in this game than in say CvS. For guys like Hugo and Q it can be very beneficial, and Sean and Dudley get to work their taunts into their mixup game. I don't mind people that taunt at all, except peeps that taunt with Ken...that shit is free unless they're right in your face. A lot of people do it on Live instictively after a KO...I have to force myself not to unless it's a friendly set, it's so ingrained in me since my days on the Dreamcast. What I wanna see kekken is you taunt and bring Poison out when you do it...now that's a distraction.
