we played like 70 matches, earlier today around 2pm-3pm EST. That was amazing! I hope to do that again. I don't have a chance to use my xbox live headset cuz i use a DC controller with a magicbox, but i'm guessing it's still possible somehow to connect it to that.

Hahaha the more I play, the more I realize that the people that are "top ranked" are just scrubs who mastered some basic skills and lag abuse.

I just played TacticalNoir who I believe I've played before but beat my ass. He's ranked #8 on there??? Well I picked my scrub Urien with Tyrant Slaughter super and he goes to Chun-Li with super #2, woo hoo, nice and fair like usual. After playing him a game I realize exactly what he's going to do and adapt. I don't throw any random fireballs while he has super, I don't jump around randomly, I don't stick things out randomly. AMAZING, he can't hit me and I win two matches back to back, despite the fact I couldn't even do anything after a full blocked super #2 due to lag. I guess after losing twice he figures that he can't lag any more victories out of me and quits.

Give me a fucking break. It's the same story on Hyper SF and on 3s I guess too. 90% of the people in the top 100 aren't even good, they just abuse lag tactics and when somebody adapts or is just plain better than them, they quit. This guy couldn't beat my Urien, with TYRANT SLAUGHTER super, with Chun-Li and arguably the best super in the game. For christ sake, all of her normals beat mine, haha. But after losing twice he quits and runs.

Pretty patehtic, maybe the "top 100" in these games would like to play IRL at a tournament sometime and see how far they get.

Darksyde: you should have posted this in the bad games thread. Anyway, the very reason I left was the same as you couldn´t punish my missed SAII. In other words, I thought the game was to laggy.
Now, I don´t mind playing Urien. So I would probably have left wichever character you would be using. But, chasing after a Urien in a laggy situation is just plain boring. I don´t complain about your style of play, I know alot of people gets annoyed at my own, so I ´just continue to try and find a game without lag.´

Anyway, about the whole "I adapt to the whole game" thing, the super through fireballs isn´t really anything I rely on since I only use it when someone is stupid enough to through a random fireball. So yeah, it´s logical that you should stop shooting fireballs after that one.

To be honest I thought you where a lag abuser, but maybe we where both wrong?

If you want I can play ya more then 3 games, even though they are laggy, just to shut your mouth up =)

Btw,´I´ll only play you 10 games next time if it´s laggy. No more no less, even if I would win 10 times in a row or lose 10 times in a row.

If you know who I am (and you SHOULD recognize the name) then you know I have knowledge of the game and that I know what I'm doing on Xbox live, with or without lag. If you think I'm some lag abusing scrub, maybe you need to take a step back and ask around about who I am, because I've been part of the SF community much longer than you, I bet.

I do go to tournaments in real life. And I have a lot of fun doing it. But that doesn't mean I shouldn't be able to have fun on Xbox Live either. Playing the #8 ranked player and beating him 2-1 in a match that I should have no chance winning whatsoever is just laughable. I'm sorry but the strategy he was using with Chun just reflected "lag tactics." Or else he would have been all over my ass rushing me down, since I had little to nothing I could have done with Urien in that situation. I don't even play with Chun and I know that.

I didn't mind the winning or losing part, but the fact that he quit after only three games, and after I won twice in a row. Come on, I REALLY BELIEVE you quit because you saw me miss my Tyrant Slaughter and you felt BAD FOR ME! HAHAHA thats the lamest excuse I've ever heard. I would figure you'd stop feeling bad then after I beat you 2 games straight but I guess not.

Next time we play, if you want to play 10 games we will. Maybe you can do some fancy Dudley lag tactics that I can't block or parry. Or the Oro juggle that everybody on the planet knows how to do, but you can't avoid if you jump in since you can't parry the hits correctly with lag. Or maybe you'll pick Chun again and scrub out. I don't care. Just show me something to believe that you deserve #8 and I'll stop talking on these forums. But until then, you get a nice check in the :lame: column on my list of victims.

Well, first, I can´t do anything about my grade. I play the game for fun, and it´s not like It´s my "fault" that I have graded so high. As alot of people here have said, grades don´t mean anything.

I've pretty much gotten used to the lag at this point. Only games that are so horrible I can't do absolutely anything do I usually give up and quit. Even then I usually play a decent set to give it a chance. I miss a move here or there but I live with it because I realize it's online and it's laggy no matter what. Especially when I'm playing someone in Sweden.

And if you're in Sweden, you probably haven't heard of the majority of US players, so I can't hold that against you. But I can assure you I know what I'm doing and I'm not using lag tactics. I'm not saying that it's super-special that I've been in the community forever, but what I'm trying to say is that theres no way that I'm using lag tactics as you suggested you thought I was. What I'm doing I can do in person, not just for the sake of unblockable lag.

I look forward to our next set, and hopefully it's not only 3 games, and the lag isn't as bad.

tacful noir is a scrub, if he doesn't pick chun you can see he's actually not that good, but he's almost as new to this game as i am, and i think he's doing nicely.

maybe you didn't know, but its not the unblockables that makes urien deadly in lag (the effectivesness isn't really related, in fact it's negatively affected against your favour) its the random tackles, firebals etc.

From what I've noticed (on MY connection).. every character has stuff they could use lag to kind of 'abuse'.. but the ones that benefit the most from the lag I think are Akuma, Ken, Urien and Necro are top tier easily. Maybe Dudley is up there also.


Basically they all have moves/runs/routines and stuff thats hard to parry both in general and more specifically, on reaction.

Thanks for the kind words. I don't think I'm great with Remy, but I have a reasonable game with him. As for charge partitioning, I find it a bitch on Live. I'm new to 3S (couple of months) and only do basic partitioning. The fundamentals are;

1) Know how long to charge before you can execute a move
2) You can split the charge between moves
3) You can split the charge up to 4 times (i.e between 4 moves)

examples;
Remy needs 1.5 secs of charge to perform a LOV

a) 2 x UOH, LOV
during each UOH you hold the stick back for 3/4 sec. As you land from the second UOH you push forward + punch = LOV

b) 2 x Dash, LOV
during each Dash you hold the stick back for 3/4 sec. As you complete the second dash you push forward + punch = LOV

c) 3 x UOH
during each UOH you hold the stick back for 1/2 sec. As you land from the third UOH you push forward + punch = LOV

.....and so on. You can obviously substitute the LOV with a Flash Kick. Make sure you let the stick return to neutral between between charges.

As I say, these are the basics.

XBL is not a tournament, those top ranked players didnt get towards the top for beating everyone ranked below them. They got their way up there for playing too damned much.

In all honesty, I think youve got tournaments shoved way too far up your ****. You cannot demand respect from people because you placed well at a SF tourney. Id love to know what you think I should do, should I fall back? Coming to this board and calling some of the nicer guys scrubs is not going to get you any fans, no matter who you are. Also, just because youre a nice player, if you demand bragging rights chances are youve just turned into an attention whore. You dont see all the other good players doing it.

I played you and you didnt use any crazy mixups or anything but you did do some basic shit like you said but it's mad hard to block/parry/counter sometimes. No i'm not saying you are abusing lag or anything, i'm just saying it's harder to play against. All in all it doesnt really mattr cause anything could be harder to play against on live.

Darksyde, Urien's BASICS now are what make him Top Tier. No one really does unblockable setups on LIVE because you do not need to. Simply throw out random projectile and chariot tackle after or chariot tackle Aegis Reflector build bar then wait. Also, what is this "name" factor you brought up? People should recognize your name as being someone who knows what they are doing? That's like me assuming people should recognize my name in damned Dead or Alive or something. You're known for Tophaters.com and being decent at MVC2. Not 3s. No one should "assume" anything. I would not assume because I play fighting games that I am any good at DOA, that is for certain.

Shaady: No way in hell is Necro top tier on here. If he was, everyone would be using him and "winning" being the key word. The characters used most on LIVE are the ones benefiting from the "lag" tricks. Granted it is harder to parry certain things Necro has on live, but you can compare Urien, Ken, and Chun-Li to Necro even on LIVE. I have even seen Remy mentioned because it is harder to block his parry his crouch Fierce. Yes, Necro and Remy have ENHANCED stuff, but nothing like Urien and Ken who could be used by a child on XBL.

the problem with 3s was never the parrys, rather the ability to zone for free by abuseing safe moves thereby controlling the match. Only an expert player can manage to lower the game to this kind of play (AKA FURBY). And while i personaly cant do it, dont credit Urien with the Complete loss u recieved.. (If you rematch) you will loose just as badly to other characters who abuse straight normals, it will send your ass back to playing Centipede.

Basically i do them depending on the situation. Although i'm not a remy-player i do play urien and these are some partitions i do. It doesn't mean you can do the same things with remy but it gives you an idea.

The basic:

st.fp(charge)/st.mp>dash>(parry if needed)>headbutt/tackle

This doesn't mean you just do ONE mp and so on. You can do as many as you like and even divide the partition into maybe 2 or 3 before going for it and so on. Urien is all about poking and partitioning.

Instead of pressing fp or mp you can just me defending db or just b and charge.

2. More advanced stuff.

Players jump-in on me...

dash back > (ex)headbutt > headbutt/PPP AR or whatever you wish...

This is more tricky but works really fine. as always you have to be charging the first half before dashing backwards. You can do it by the mp/fp or just by dashing forth and back.

These are some ways i do it on not counting the AR-combos now. All you can do is practicing mate. Eventually you'll get the hang of it.

But if you aim on doing this shit on live i can only wish you good luck mate! Its a pain...

Psi, i did not lose technically. I was still up in games, but I gave up because well, I literally chased Urien from one side of the screen to the next for 11 matches in a row from NY to LA lag. You can not compare Elena to Urien, I am sorry. Urien already wins that match, and on lag it is way worse. You literally had Arturo run run run run. Only run. One corner to the next. The way I play Elena is the same way I play her normally and you know this. I want to hear nothing of "me" running or turtling like I hear. In fact, I hear this from players that run away from me or turtle themselves! Some need to know the definition.

I think anyone on here would have left long before chasing someone from corner to corner against Urien. Urien being top in the game is not my frustration. You can not parry his stuff, and his strength and juggling off a projectile is silly when you can not stop it. Why do you think everyone uses it, and no one uses Elena?

Shaady: No way in hell is Necro top tier on here. If he was, everyone would be using him and "winning" being the key word. The characters used most on LIVE are the ones benefiting from the "lag" tricks. Granted it is harder to parry certain things Necro has on live, but you can compare Urien, Ken, and Chun-Li to Necro even on LIVE. I have even seen Remy mentioned because it is harder to block his parry his crouch Fierce. Yes, Necro and Remy have ENHANCED stuff, but nothing like Urien and Ken who could be used by a child on XBL.

Thanks Graph. Those are some handy tips with the thong man though I think you have misunderstood my question. I saw a Remy player do the following;

What I don't understand is how he partioned both back AND down charge moves at the same time so as to be able to release the LOV then IMMEDIATELY afterwards the Flash Kick. Do you know how this can be done?

Whats been bothering me a lot is Ryochin. He seems to be the master of partitioning and yet he plays remy... It is by most 3s-players considered that an urien with good partitioning would kill almost everything and yet he plays remy... why? There must be more to it than the fact that not many plays remy. :)

And as far as the xbox goes... I got annoyed by the fact that timing was A LOT different from the ps2 which is more arcade-perfect. I know that ppl wont agree with me on this on but there is a difference between the 2 versions. And since i play a lot of ppl here in sthlm on ps2 i hated the fact that it took me 1 hour before getting used to the timing on the ps2. Therefor i sold my xbox and kept my ps2. That was the main reason but the lag between me and others had a major part in it too.

Dude, for someone of your skill level I'd say it'll just be a practice thing. The easiest way IMO to learn is to start with the UOH x 2 and split the charge between each UOH. Then you can play around partitioning during other moves. I rarely use it on live, and even offline I'm only basic with it.

Are you (ParryAll) and Parrysome the same person? Not sure if I got you guys mixed up (sorry).

Timing is by 99% the same. But when it comes down to more advanced stuff i seem to get it on a LOT more easier on the xbox than the ps2. This is just how I and some others think. I've met at least the same amount of ppl, if not more, telling me there isn't a difference. All i know is that when i play offline on the xbox i kara-srk(ken), kara-palm(yun), cr.fp > 2xmk tackle's(urien) and so on a lot more than i would on ps2. And i've played a lot 3s on both ps2 and the xbox. There IS a difference...

partitioning is easy when you practice it. Doing it in a real match on the other hand can get tricky(not counting the AR-unblockable's) since you usually have so much to think about you feel as though you have no time to partition. But overall i'd say it is what you make of it. If practiced it CAN be done whenever you want it to be done.

thanks luwatt, but i have to disagree with you. his ken beats mine so his must be better but i'll explain why they're not similar, he constantly does cross ups which i cant parry, and thanks to supercancel he can link into super when he randomly connects with the mpxhpxfireball link. He constantly jumps in, or if not its ex hurricain followed by lp dragon. It's just a collection of tricks.

You need to be fucking fast to react to all this so i'm thinking that unless youre playing top class sf, this is just a random mixupfest. who has more random tricks up their sleeve?

i dont have no tricks, i cant do em even if i wanted to since i cant even do reversal dps in this game or throw on reaction, but fuck it, i know i dont rely on tricks (except lp x lk x uoh, haha)

GGs as always mate. I enjoyed the Urien matches very much. I wouldn't say he's cheap per se + I don't think you used him that way. He's one of your characters I find especially tough to overcome with my own Urien.

IMO Dudley is one of the most entertaining characters in 3S. Still trying to get the juggles going :karate:

Singho, your skill with all the characters is impressive as always. How come you use Rolling Thunder with Dudley? I know I got hit iwth it but you can have more options with the other SA's. There was some lag today with you though, I was very lucky with Chun Li because the lag was such that I couldn't late cancel the mk into the Hoyokusen. Also is it difficult to learn Ibuki? You have a good one and I am thinking about learning to play her.

Kneel, that Oro is amazing dude. I've not played a good Oro player before and have only seen good ones in match vids, never in the arcade. You got that chicken jump combo down real good. Gotta give respect where its due.

I was quite proud of myself for the parry on the aegis even though i didnt do it all, it helped me get out of the unblockable. My twin bro is just awesome at that I have a replay where he parrys itall but ryu faces a different direction on each parry its just too cool.

The Alex vs Alex was just funny i knew i didnt stand a chance as soon as i picked him lol.

Missed loads of failed parries on air spheres but managed to combat through them most of the time. Still, was a good set of games that progressivley got worse in terms of connection, especially that last battle against your Ken.

Also, no need to wait on me...i know you only choose Urien or Ken, just choose them.

@Darkside: Im a n00b, just started playing this game in August :karate: Not long after the jpn PS2 version was released. But yeah, connection was lousy.

Against higher ranked players you dont choose no one but ken and Urien? :xeye: Thats a bit weak if thats the logic. Ranking means nothing on XBL. Who ever plays the most gets higher ranked...OR those who got the game can play people who have been playing for a while, and those wins = more points, so with less wins they move up higher in the table.

Dont let that effect your decision to mix up characters, those are the best games...whatever, hopefully we can get a better connection next time.

Well I dont really have an air fireball akuma but jumping chun li low foward, hcb kick overhead, low foward is kinda suspect. But yeah the lag on your end must have sucked too. That sucks :( Hope we can get some good games another time.

I play lots of Akumas online so I can have mistaken you for some other person. But if I remembered correctly you threw alot of random air fireballs. Not that I have anything against that, since it seems to be a part of how to play Akuma, but it can be a bit difficult in laggy situations. But as I said, I could mistaken your Akuma with somebody else.

Well, most people I play against usually learn to block/parry the low foward to hcb overhead. But I guess that is a bit difficult (especially parry) with lag like the one we had. As you said, hopefully we can have a better connection in the future.

OH MAN! there was definatley 3 matches i just threw away like an idiot!

That my Hugo vs your Remy....JEEBUS, i worked hard in that match to get to close to you...paid off. Then in the last round i parried all but 1 hit of that SA2 Flash kick :encore: ...all i had to do was slap you with mp, but i dunno what i did! :sad: i just sat their and ate a throw. Great Game that was, very tense ^_^

Also my Alex got a bit pwned by your Urien and Yun...felt that i should of claimed that Urien match...but seriosley, Your Yun is brilliant. Alex didnt stand a chance :tup:
