Should use a character who can travel through fireballs, just love to use chun li:s SAII and go right through the fireballs. After that they get a bit more carefull before throwing one =) (otherwhise just another guaranted super for me hehe).

But on the other hand, the character you are using may not have such a move?

Oh god THAT guy. I think I spent a whole round just parrying his fireballs too, and the lag makes that much harder than it should be. When you get ANYWHERE near him, he starts spamming cr.hk or cr.mk, so i just kept dashing and throwing. If you jump, yeah you eat one of ken's or akuma's anti air specials, he uses those alot. Very boring and frustrating guy to play.

Anyway I think i played you tactical noir, you were really very good, I was completely outmatched. Gamertag is reticent, played a shitty ken.

Yeah, lag makes it very difficult to parry, especially in those critical moments. I try to not play against people who lag, because it ruins the game (lag=a really really bad game).

Just played my first ever online SFIII game against some guy called ACE 78. I always used to play SFIII with Akuma, but I don't like milking one character; this guy always chose Ken. His tactic was fireball, fireball, fireball, repeat until fade. If you happen to jump his fireball, then dragon punch and back to hiding in the corner fireballing. Akuma wasn't working for me, so I tried Remy, Oro, Necro and Chun-Li, people I have never used. Varying degrees of success follow; and then I find Necro's move that, what's this? Allows him to jump forward while attacking downwards? Cue fireballs coming at me, I block and edge closer, then use the jumpy move. Block his sweep and sweep him back. Jump fireballs, block sweep, sweep him back. Once he realised that I could beat him with one character using one move, just like him, he didn't seem so keen to play, and didn't rematch. Trouble is, no-one else was online, so we ended having another match - you can guess what happened. I quit after the match as I like to spend a match fighting, not jumping fireballs. Learn some new moves son, my Necro 0wnz y00!

There is nothing wrong with that. What im refering to are the players who are willing to wait until the timer runs out so that they can chose the stronger character and tip the outcome in their favor. As an example, if i chose Zangief on SF2:AE the obvious person to be would be Dahlsim.

*sigh* I will admit that I am new to the game, and looking back, I realize that parrying probably wasn't the best thing to do. However, I am always looking to improve. So enlighten me: if I find myself in that kind of situation again, what should I do? And what exactly IS charge partitioning?

Charge partitioning is hard to explain. ComboVideos.com has a really good tutorial on it. Basically it means he can like walk forward or just onslaught you with boomerangs.

I tried using Q on Sabre's Remy... BIG MISTAKE.

As for ways around it... well, so long as your game isnt too laggy, you could sit there and parry all of them and juice up your meter. Really, any character besides Q and Hugo could easily get in on him. I got my Q in on him and actually won a round...I would parry him till my meter juiced up then critical combo my way over.

But anyway for future reference, since you are new, don't scream Bad match on anyone unless they drop on you or use Gill. Some tactics may seem cheap, but unless hes using gameshark or something (which u can't to my knowledge) its fair game. Especially for lower tier characters like Q, Remy, Twelve (just happen to be my main ones) u gotta use everything you got.

Darkside: charge partitioning is kinda tough to do, especially on lag. It's best just to get just outside of sweep distance and superjump over the SBs, then look to parry the c.fierce / blade kick. =/

But afterall, people play games for fun, and while they play there is nothing wrong with taking the game seriously. It just increases the fun. I have lots of games, wich I can´t bother with, and nedless to say, I don´t play those games.

Last, about the ranking, well it´s messed up because of the BSOD true. But it´s just unnecessary to mess it up with droppers to.
You makes it sound bad to care about the ranking, wich it is not. I think that the ranking is just another part of the game to increase the fun. I really don´t mind my position in the ranking, but I do like the statistics that comes along it (thats why I would like even more statistics, characters played, time spent etc. etc.). I´ts like a save point in a game, it shows your "progress".

I've played about 400 games, for 300 or so games I never dropped but then started dropping for shits n giggles out of disdain with this game. The live community and players in general just suck, there is no challenge out there for me and I laugh in the face of people who report droppers.

Anyway, seeming as you have posted here...dude, your a nice guy and all, and your friendly on the mic...but even you know Chunli is just nasty.

Like, how you said yourself that ken, yun and Urien are nasty\over powered whatever, but the difference with them is, you actually have to input a command or judge timing with them during a match.

Yuns Genei Jin---not easy to do. Screen placement; comboing into Genei Jin; tricking people out of block to continue to juggle them with whatever is left on meter.

Urien-- Tackle juggles...you do them then if its easy(i hate his grab though tbh, but just be careful)

Ken- ken is just ken, fast, great moves, just an all round COMPLETE character.

Like, when you are playing chunli, all you do is exclusivly rely on HP and HK. HP for aerial and HP for distance attacking. You hit HK for any low pokes. If your feeling "risky" you do an overhead or a throw. Then of course try and snipe a cr.mk sweep into a SA2. Correct me if im wrong, but that is what you do...all day long.

Obviosly its your money, your xbl sub, your game, your xbox and you can play however you like. But never have i once seen you play with anyone else. Infact, do you even parry?!

I have no actual hate if someone uses a chunli...why should i. But what does piss me off, is after say (not just talking about you here dude) a long battle, after parrying her hp, her final hit of a blocked SA2 and whatnot, going through a grueling match trying to watch out for THE cr.medium kick...what do you do...thats right, select chunli again. :sad:

Now, I agree with the HP thing. It is a powerful normal, I wont dissagree with that.
For the Tier thing, I don´t play Urien nor Yun, so I don´t know how difficult aegis traps or genei jins are to execute. But I´m sure they are alot more difficult then c.mk to SAII.
However, when it comes to Ken, who also has c.mk to SAIII.
Isn´t that just as "cheap"? Yet I haven´t heard anyone complain about it, since it´s Ken. Well, when it comes to tiers I really don´t have any good knowledge. So I guess there is some reason for his c.mk not to be as powerfull as chuns.
Point is, when I see someone picking Urien, Yun or Ken over and over. I don´t see any reason for me not to pick my best character.

For my own gameplay, yes I do rely on HP, HK, C.MK to SAII. Just as much as I rely on throws, overheads and parrys. Infact, I rely more on throws then HP (mainly for mix up/wake up).

About the fact that it gets boring to play against the same character several times in a row, point taken. I´v actually begun to play with Elena.

I myself don´t mind playing against Chun li, nor do I mind playing against any character. I love to play against a good Urien, Ken, Yun or any other character aswell who kicks my as, because then the game gets more interesting. And I myself would actually want those who kicks my as with a certain character stick with that character because it´s more fun to play against that persons best character then some other that he/she is not as good with. But I guess that is just a matter of preference, since apparantly alot of people don´t like to play against the same characters (or Chun to be more exactly).

Just wanted to note the point about Chun's cr.MKxxSA2...not only does the SA do stupid amounts of damage (compared to Ken's SA3), it also is comboable afterwards. This can allow her to set-up into another SA2 combo straight afterwards. So in fairness, Ken's SA3 wouldn't be considered cheap. Also, worth mentioning, most good Ken players accept the fact tht SA3 is worth using because with 3 SA bars, it allows for safe usage of EX moves.

I think though, OK, Chun Li is stupidly over-powered with HP counters on reaction (such is the fact that it comes out so fast and recovers quickly too) and 2 SA2 bars for SA2 (the super itself being very damaging on its own), but at the end of the day its how people choose to use her that I find frustrating. You can either play for the fun of the competion :) or you can play for the win and do a Justin Wong :(

Myself, I can't be bothered when people start to be cheap, I might rematch with them but if they repeat an attack that hits me 5-6 times consecutively (Alex's stomp srings to mind, and its happened on several occasions) I get so numbed by the frustration that I just leave the guy to take what little energy remains. Thing is though, shit like this happens from guys who have a solid grasp of the game, but instead of choosing to play a decent high level game, they decide to win by effectivley skanking :/

True the bars are short, but a lot of Chun players who use a lot of HP will usually find that their bar doesn't take too long to charge up.

In terms of SA2 into SA2, yeah, that is possible in the corner (super jump cancel), but you don't get many hits from the 2nd SA2 so that ones not worth doing expect for fun. In terms of SA2>>attack>>SA2 in one unbroken combo, no, thats not possible.

TactfulNoir: Ken's cr. MK late cancel into SA3 is a lot harder to do on reaction than Chun's. Also Chun's cr. MK recovers so fast it's almost unpunishable, unlike Ken's which gets punished all the time. Ken having 3 bars doesn't really even out the damage of Chun's super, because that just means he needs to connect it more often. Basically, both her cr. MK and her super are better than Ken's, which is why you don't hear as much bitching about him. He does have other bullshit though.

Maybe that's just me though, but I enjoy playing against Chun. Yeah it's boring when people turtle just to get the win but in the end it just makes you better. It's a challenge! Personally, the only things that tend to annoy me are lag tactics, e.g. stuff that would never work offline.
