Pretty good tournament overall. Lots of upsets and close matches, thanks Karamba & Wildestroya for organizing the tournament. Everything that went wrong with registration and organization just take it as experience for the next tournament you decide to hold.

...It was good seeing old faces and some of the "new generation" of MTLSF.

I was suprised to only see 19 participants for CvS2. If atleast half of the CvS2 players at 2000+ participated we'd have around 30 entrants. Like I said before, the "real scrubs" won't enter tournaments. Ever.

Also the technician came and left like the wind, I didn't even see him check the machines. This is why 2000+ is a horrible arcade. Every machine had something wrong with it. These people are either very bad at their job or they are really good at scamming people.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY:

-Sam beating Veasna a game in first round. I know Veasna wasn't taking his "real" team but it was still funny.
-Sam asking me when he gets eliminated from the tournament, if he pays me the registration fee again can he get back in the tournament.
-Phoun beasting with Q.
-Mao winning the "Mean Girls" DVD from the DVD game... HAHAHA!!
-Mao asking me to give him the money for 1st place because the letters M-A-O are in chAMpiOn.
-Mao playing like 4 matches in a row because of bracket confusion.
-The FP on the right side of the CvS2 machine sort of broke half-way through the tournament. It wouldn't work when you needed it most...
-AB placing 3rd in 3S because of the funny brackets.
-Will coming 2nd in CvS2.
-Casual play after the tournament with Fred & Seb.

Oh and for those wondering... M.A.T. is coming, just wait...

yeah that cvs2's 2nd player fp was really good, it was ownin so many people. except when it came to will, 2nd player joystick said: will, you WILL get second place ...and thats how it happened...

as for MvC2's left joystick's performance, I can't really comment since I was focused about other things, and yet all I heard is that the performance was beastly.

oh and Abbé is my hero at third strike, he had to handle the hardest opponent, and he(Abbé) used his psyhic powers to make his opponent(will) forfeit..... truly deserving of third place.

As for me, I had to face on my first match an uknow opponent, who from what the rumours said , was really good at third strike. so of course the brackets placed me against my mystery opponent, since it was a match nobody had seen before. Sadly, I unpreperared to face thy person. but its all good

oh and props to phoun for beastin everybody with Q. U should have taken Urien regardless, as it might have been better, much like I took kyo like in one match throughout the tournament (super smart of me)

props to vic for winning ggxx, and Alex for MvC2.
I don't give props to Veas, cause he always wins anyways

Not at Mira, that's for sure.

That place is way to small, the cabinets are horrible and the sticks have changed too. I'm talking with Bryan who works at another arcade to see what he can do.

If you want to organize a tournament at Mira go for it. I don't think it is a good place for M.A.T. though. The point of holding a large tournament like M.A.T. is to get people from out of town to come, so you gotta make sure it's worth it. If this arcade at Langlier doesn't work out I'll let you know then you can do whatever you want.

But if we can get a big arcade, good machines, good sticks... why not hold it there? :tup:

Edit: I'll be in Peru from December 13 - January 18. So I'll try and get stuff set up for you guys if you want to do it while I'm gone.

Btw:Langelier doesnt have cvs2 and 3rd strike I went Sunday MVC2 cabinet is pretty much like at 2000 stick are 20 times better though speed is good,chrono too I think the only prob with it that the HP on 2nd player doesnt work well. ATI X700XT should be sold at the same price
GF6600 (non GT) : 192$ CAN

as far as the X700Pro 128mb, it will probably cost like 220-240$

If u still can't afford that, my last suggestion is an ATI9600pro 128mb which costs 140$ CAN

Here's my reasons:

1. The sticks for CVS2 owns Mira's sticks. And there's possibility for the second cabinet to work.

2. The 3s cabinets is not that bad now, but Mira's 3s is better. Still, we were all able to play on it, but not as well as we should.

3. Dunno and don't care about MVC2, so someone find something to say about it.

4. It's downtown, it's more fun then st-lo where there's nothing but restaurants around. It's spacious and you can actually do something else when you're waiting for your match(ex: play DDR)

5. Even if most people in the tourny are from Mira, when it's done downtown the possibility of seeing new people are greater than at Mira. Do you really think that a guy that want to play his first tourny is going to a far away arcade where everyone knows each other? (come on, the guy will be shook even more)

Anyway, I personally like the ambiance at 2000. It's more fun to be there cause it's a real "arcade".

Anyways,I'm pretty sure smokey will come (hopefully he'll bring someone also who's known a fourer les gens avec blackheart)and vanier is close to cote vertu (10min walk?). I know Sam came like awhile ago and the machine was umm like 2000's but now its all good. Heard rumors also that alex came once to bet money from friend but dunno if that ever happened (c vrai?).

Anyways, if interested umm say so and we'll make a meeting time at cote vertu or something.Yeah the game is old but it would be fun to see good matches played out at vanier.If only for one day,if you like it feel free to come back if not then c cool. Only drawback u can't smoke inside the school and there's no chairs to sit while u play.Or if no one wants to come then thats fine, this is just my lame attempt to try to get good competition to play at vanier and compete amongst themselves for fun (not that i'm good or anything). Damn, I haven't been to an arcade since the 2000+ tournament. I think I retired without even knowing it.

Trix (aka Lanjeu) doesn't count since I go there only to get smashed. Hey, speaking of which... here are reasons to have a tournament at Trix:

-There is a bar in the arcade.
-There are pool tables.
-They play music so you get pumped.
-CvS2 games last about 30 seconds because of the ultra high damage.
-3S is 5 rounds.

... Who am I kidding, this will never happen! See you guys around, it's been fun.

people will still go to mira, but it won't be the same again, everything's changed : im in ottawa, machines at mira suck, a lot of peeps prefer gambling instead, Lars has evidently quit, Louis doesn't work at mira naymore, 200 still sucks, Phou has evidently quit and pops out randomly, apart from John and the new players, nobody else plays MvC2, Mao has a car, the 3s (the best fighting game) scene has been killed. Right now, only cvs2 lives on, because of 2000 players, who would always get labeled scrubs and pourries, but hey at least there keeping a fighting game alive, so no hate on them from my part.

optimism for M.A.T.? hum, we can hope (those who want it though ) for a miracle.

If M.A.T. were to happen, I say we need to convince all the sf players to participate, from the old school, new school and the retired old school players (Sotha, Prez, Jfl, Tony, Martin, Luc, etc ). We have to make this a tournament to remember and a possible farewell to the mtlsf scene.

si c lent quand tu load un programme ou un jeux, c a cause que t'as trop installer/desinstaller d'affaire, fait que l'acces a ton disque dure devient lent. Essayes de defragmenter ton disque dure (right click sur C:\ ou n'importe quel drive puis va dans properties -> tools -> defragmentation) ca va le rendre plus rapide. Assure toi aussi d'enlever toutes sortes de virus ou spyware.

Te peux acheter la carte chez le magazin equipe micro solutions qui se trouve a l'est completement, pres du metro Honore-Beaugrand

Ok, so I've checked the NEC5 thread and I admit it looks good ! :pleased:

However, I may have a problem entering the USA because my passport may be too "old fashion" there are new ones (with magnetico-optic-suck-my-d**k stuff) which seem to be the only ones allowed ... So I need to check this first ... :\

IF this was ok I would be VERY interested in going there ! And of course the "Van plan" looks good at 60 $ especially including the food and the accomodation ! (just joking ! ;))

I could play only GGXX # R. so far (given the list of played games) and of course I'd be glad (if I come) to participate in the team tournament for that game, if you see what I mean ...

Played CFJ today...heres my impressions of the game:

Its ok at bst...definately not tournament worthy....but its way better than svc, but then again thats not saying much.

the street fighter and darkstalkers cast are too good as u prob already know...but I dunno the game feels dragged down, and although its( at this tage anyways) way less turtle oriented compared to cvs2...it feels way slower than the later and the graphics are pretty bad (not that i usually care, but this is pretty horrendous..wonder how it is on arcade though since i plaed it on console).

still its new, and time may change my initial perception. for those who played it, how do u guys find it?

For CFE/CFJ, the number of characters is not important but we all know Capcom : just do a correct first part and let some flaws to be corrected in the next iteration ... How pissing but money rules ... :rolleyes: Be patient and wait for the CFE2 (who said CFE3 ! :bgrin:) for Ken and all the characters you are missing.

No, just joking I can't tell you 'cause I know nobody who plays him.
The only things I could say are to DL japanese video matches (there are few with Axl, generally according to my experience : more than 10 Go of #R ...) and check on gamefaqs the related faqs but I guess you already know this so it's pretty useless... ^^;;
If you come at my home one day bring RW-CDs, I'll try to burn you some Axl matches I got if I can find them back.

I'll host a console session this coming saturday (27th of november).

Program :

- GGXX # reload (PS2)

- CFJ (PS2) : here is a possiblity : IF a 2nd TV is brought there will be the two games running at the same time (obviously !) BUT if no TV is brought, a MUCH shorter time will be granted to CFJ since I don't play it yet.

We're already 3 people, exceptionnally I will allow 2 extra ones and 3 if a TV is brought.

The invitations are done, it's up to you gentlemen, post here to warn me if you want to come.

P.S. Everybody is welcomed, even the ones who trashtalked me. There will be a chance to check whos is right (regarding if wether I am a noob or not (at GGXX)) ! :bgrin:

Oh and to reply to Freddy well I stopped fighting games after SF2 so I dont know anything bout Alpha or Darkstalkers and shit so far I really like the game since I use mostly DS and Ingrid chars X_x

Hmm I see thanks for the comment although I do trully hate Axl :badboy: . I dont really like playing him but I will give him a chance and try to learn him to his full capabilities. For now im trying to learn how to do dust loops with Sol. Its hard especially when you are playing on a damn keyboard :confused:

Just tried HL2, it looks great, but it's to hard to get good FPS, I had to use major tweaks (like 20 commands) to be able to play it at high fps. I might bring it to netchamp tonight if u wanna see how it looks like.
