Whats the best, lag-free ps2->xbox converter and arcade stick combo?
I want to get a quality stick but I dont want my xbox live experience to be let down by unresponsiveness and input lag and I dont want to waste quite a bit of money.
Sorry if this has been answered before but all the threads I saw on this topic were a bit too technical, I just need to know in laymans terms :)

i say get a dreambox convertor, it is a lag free/even on live converter that supports the headset (as i hear, some got it to work), it works best on psone dualshock pcbs and other arcade sticks for ps2/psx.
Im building a custom stick with a psx dualshock and getting the dreambox convertor, and one for dreamcast, so i can use all 3 consoles.

Yeah but can someone confirm if there is a converter that works flawlessly on SF AE?? I have 2 by innovation and I even bought 2 more from Wal Mart(PS2 to XBOX/Gamecube) and both suffer the same problems....button delay, buttons not responding.
Who here is using a PS2 pad with a converter without problems on SF2 AE?? What pad and what converter are you using!?

Dreambox for anything PS1/2.
Ive played through my friends one, seems good enough.
One I wont recommend is the Magic Box. Its ruined 3 of my ps2 pads so far, cant play on them without delay anymore. Too ******* scared to use my stick on it.

Best place to order is from www.lik-sang.com
Put in a search for dreambox, it'll take you straight to it

Jesse,
Yea, the Dreambox is a good choice. We went through quite a few before we found the right one. HOWEVER, it did not initially work with any of our Mas stuff (Mas stick or Mas Snes PS2 pads). We had to take our Mas "gear" to Mas and have him (the engineer) modify a chip within the board to make it compliant with the Dreambox. Prior to him doing that, it would never work. We'd be joining you & everyone else tonite, but the engineer only had time to do our stick, not our pads. So...we have to go yet another night without AE on XBL (had this game since last Thursday). Hopefully he will have finished it by tomorrow. But the Dreambox should work with just about every other non-Mas PS2 pad.
i got Sunflex, works really well

The Cheap one from walmart does not work with the Hori Real Arcade Pro. I found that out tonight so I won't be on till I find something that does

I use a hacked DC sanwa and Xbox pad, best way to solve those annoying laggy converters :x

I have a magic box and works perfect. I dont see any lag issues with it.

The cheap one from wallmart (by game elements) supposedly works with the SF AE controller though, does Magic box? I heard it doesn't

Anybody have any luck with something that works with a MAS stick? I have thier converter, and the input lag is starting to get to me, it's about a 1/2 to 1 second delay between when I press a button and when anything comes out. Vintage, was your stick an older style MAS, or one of the newer ones that they sell with a converter for XBOX? I'm just wondering if maybe the Magic Box would still work with my newer MAS stick, because no other converters worked with my older ones, but with my newest one they do since they started using a PS2 board in the stick instead of the old PS1 board.
If not, is there perhaps a joystick on the market that uses a dedicated XBOX controller instead of a converter? (preferably easy to switch parts out of with some new HAPP buttons and stick) If not, I have to figure out how to hack an XBOX controller and hook it up to my MAS or something...

Just some info :- I use a Hori Soul Caliber stick with a magic box, and it seems perfectly fine - I thought at first that it felt like it lagged, but I reckon that was just my spaggy hands and perhaps a slightly less than perfect connection. I used to use a Sammy SvC Chaos stick, which has an 8-way gate (I think I prefer this), so getting used to 4-way gate is a little tricky.
Ooops. That last comment was irrelevant :)
But! The Sammy stick DID NOT WORK with the magic box - avoid this if you're looking around right now. My mate has a Hori Real Arcade Pro stick, and that's fine too. As far as my experience goes, if you're going to use a PS stick and a converter, then make sure it's a Hori stick.
Does anyone know how the Xbox arcade sticks are? you know, the ones with reclaimed VF parts??
Also, here's a question - how do I get the voice comms going with a magic box? it doesn't have a slot for it, just a slot for a memory card. I thought I might be able to simply remove the plastic runners inside the slot and therefore make the voice comms fit, but my mate said it won't work. It's a bit of a bugger, though, I'm sure some people often just leave after a game or two because there's no comms. Or maybe it's because, since I got the Hori stick, I keep randomly jumping all the time (bloody 4-way gate!!! ;)

avoid x joy box at all costs. piece of shit has insane lag and doesn't register diagonals or something b/c it sure as hell wouldn't let me throw a fireball -_- the $10 one from wal-mart works like a dream tho, no headset support tho.

I was going to get the magic box, because it allows you to use a Sega Saturn controller. I'll be sacrificing the headset though I guess. Anyone had any experience with this combo?

No its has no port for the voice communicator.
When someone talks to me i switch it sometimes with regular controller and talk during the character selection.
Don worry bout us on halo 2 :badboy:
Team pink is still there
I play with a sunfles xbox>ps2 converter and an anniversary pad [it's like a saturn pad with 6 buttons on front and 2 shoulders].
I also have a dreambox converter and it's crap, no stick supported, and lag even on dualshock pad. Avoid this.

This is annoying me. If the Sunflex converter is so good, then where do I find one. I haven't found one on Lik-Sang, Play-asia or ebay, can anyone help please?

Does anyone know which converters will work with Namco PS Stick (the one with yellow buttons). I have a magic box converter and it won't work with the stick. A little help would be appreciated.

It's great, the D-pad is fine and the buttons too. The shoulders aren't that great but who cares, never used the soulders. It works perfect for me.
Never accidently hitted the start and select but they're in an unusual position, right above the 6 fire buttons.
OMG the akuma picture on the top of this pad is th3 l33tzorz!

None of my convertors work for my SuperPro Sanwa stick.
I am using a Pelican Real Arcade Universal and plan on upgrading it with Happ parts. The nice thing is that the voice support works for XBL on it though. ;)

My friends says the converter from Koo Interactive (shaped like an X-Box) works with the Namco stick.

Doesn't the usage of the headset worsen the lag timing?
From what Ex_mosquito told me, the xbox magic box has significant lag.

I find it very interesting that noone has mentioned the X fighting stick.
This is arguably the most versatile stick on the box. Cheaper than the Hori EX, which i also have, but better than the Reflex shitty Gamester stick, which again i also have.
It feels like the DC Arcade Stick, a bit, and no adaptor = no lag!
Personally, ther is nothing more annoying than chatting to peeps that you're playing against in fighting games. Just weigh it up. Is making friends, that important to you?
