From Gamespot:
"After days of silence punctuated only by terse "no comment" emails, an official statement on the recall of the Xbox version of Street Fighter Anniversary Collection has come from Capcom's offices in Osaka. The company line is that the game, which was discovered to be free of region coding upon its release last week in Japan, suffers from a music bug. Specifically, the stage background music for the character Hugo doesn't play correctly when the game is set to Original sound mode."

is everyone dumb and blind? W-coded disc does not mean region free. omg, how many times does it need to be explained on the forums? w-code discs can NOT be played on any region. ALL it does is make localization easier since the game detects the language settings in the xbox and puts the game in the appropriate language, ONLY making localization much easier. capcom was just dumb and forgot to put a region lockout in the game when the discs were pressed

I doubt they forgot to put a region lockout, but yeah, as I've explained MULTIPLE TIMES, W-Code only means auto language detection, and it's been there for a LOOOONG time in games. It's just rarer for JP releases..

No, not everyone is dumb and blind... I'm not, anyway. But a lot of people are impatient. Combine that with a lot of disposable income, and...
You know, I still think it's possible that the people at Capcom USA can approach Microsoft and ask for a Live update that will stop Live play for the game. They wouldn't have to ban any users; they already know what game you're playing when you log in. They can just check for an 'illegal' (non-official USA-region) version of SFAC and kick you out of Live as soon as you try to get in.
Regardless of what happens, I'm gonna wait for the USA release. Yeah, February is still 3 months away, and that release date is tentative at best. But this is one instance where I think importing it is too risky. I don't know what will happen with the current Live play or the next shipment of games, and there may be other future compatibility issues.
Besides, I'll have other games to keep me busy for a while. Won't you join me for a few rounds of Godzilla: Save the Earth on Live? How about a few races in OutRun 2? The PS2 Capcom Fighting Evolution will be here soon, and I'm definitely getting Mario Power Tennis next week. And Gradius V still owns me... I don't know if I'll ever put that game down.

Go Dropper.
Yeah ppl are already dropping! :)
I've been playing with at my job with a Live account we created to download stuff in Ninja Gaiden(GT is Jamdat).
Most games were a bit laggy since we have a shared T1 between 50 or so people, but it was still good.
Although I won 2 fights, only one dropped, and the other one got a BSOD. Oh well..
If you see someone playing with the Jamdat GT and uses Makoto a lot, that's me.

On this post election day I feel, like many of the politicians, that I need to clear the air.
I've had my rear end handed to me... by both lag and by skill.. and I can guarantee one thing: I don't drop. Though I did play against more than a half dozen droppers this afternoon. Why would people, seemingly diehard Street Fighter fans, import the game only to drop like panzies when they lose?
I don't give a cr@p about my record. I play for fun.

Hushska, EVERYTIME I picked Necro on second game, you disconnected at the character selection screen. That is a drop you know.

Dream, you are absolutely right, man. My bad. I did quit on you on the selection screen, I'd forgot.
The first time I quit because I just can't battle him. The second time, I quit to accept an invite to play another game (And I said and apologized so on the mic).
I have great respect for your skills. In fact, I still have the *one* match (out of like 30) where I beat you in CvSNK2 saved on my hard drive.
But I'm man enough to admit when I'm wrong, and I dropped on you dude. My bad.
That said, those droppers who actually play the match only to ditch out at the end, really $uck @ss.

i never quite understand it. wut do u accomplish after dropping in the middle of the game? if anything, getting ur ass beat is a means of helping you out to get better at the game. if u lose, politely ask wut you're doing wrong and how u can improve your style of play. i myself don't have the luxury of paying multiple-months-worth of xbox Live subscriptions so i'm kinda at a disadvantage, but if i had the ability to play online and i lost, that's wut i would be doing to get better at fighting games in general

I hope youre just talking about SFAC or else youd be lying like a nubbie
btw you "$uCK @$$" in CvS2
they are recalling it because of the lack of region lockout, they may say its for the music error, but how often has capcom "recalled" a product based on a small glitch?
