I got the game during my lunch break, and I've played a total of 16 games(hugs his job; it's normal for me to play while doing my job :) ) and so far 14 of them have been against Ken or Ryu. I wouldn't mind if they were exceptionally good Ken or Ryus, but with my very limited 3S experience I beasted most of them with my sub par Makoto(and even then, in lag, it's quite hard to do her long combo after an Abare-Tosonami).
What's up with that? I didn't think it would be such a problem, but I see Ken/Ryu with SA1 99% of the time.. Usually it's easy to gauge a good Ken player because they'll at least go straight for SA3, but this is getting ridiculous..
At least my last 3 fights I didn't get dropped on after my wins. That's a plus :)

A lot of Kens online. A lot.
If it makes you feel any better I play Urien. Poorly.

All I really know decently right now is Akuma and Remy. I should take some time learn a couple more characters a bit better. But I will always pick Akuma sometimes, just how it is.

i played shotos for about a couple of years before i bothered playing anyone else.
if u are moving from another sf game, ull go for familiarity, ie shoto or chun, and most will chose a shoto cause at least they will know they can do fireball/dragonpunch/hurrican kick
problem at the mo is, people arent playing for fun, theyre playing to win (looks at TacticalNoir sternly)

Hehe actually mr fujiwara I play other characters to except for Chun. Have started to play more with Ibuki, Elena and Remy.
Usually when I play evenly matched players I begin the first match with Chun, but later move on to the other characters for fun (wich isnīt so noticable, since the BSOD often kicks in after the first 2 games).
Exception is if my opponent constantly keeps choosing Ken or other shotos and they can play them well, because I think both parts will have more fun if the match is even (since I would get my as kicked so hard if I choosed Ibuki against a good Ken player, and I donīt think my opponents think an easy win is very fun, atleast I donīt). And I also only pick Chun if I play against grahf swe, since she is the only character that I can put up a fight with against him =).
Actually I donīt mind playing shotos, have played so many so Iīv started to learn how most of them play, but ofcource itīs more fun playing a mixed set of characters.
(Especially because of different backgrounds hehe).

I like playing Shotos, they are so easy to parry. :karate:
At least it isn't as bad as Family Fun or UCLA. I swear the UCLA cabinet is broke in such a way that it only allows people to pick ken.

True true. Im trying to learn Akuma, obviously want to be good with Ken too. Heck even Ryu. For those of you who played me on CvS2 this should come as absolutely no suprise at all
Like ProjectJustice said tho, they are easy as hell to parry unless they have a mean mixup. There will be a lot of people wanting to learn how to play the game and the shotos are as fair a place to start as any.
On a side note, Fear My ORO!!

shotos are the easiest characters to pick up and use. Ken practically owns the whole cast. why choose anyone else?

Well as I said, I don't mind playing good shotos who can consistently beat my ass down with skill, but I really can't stand moronic shotos who keep playing Ryu or Ken(or worse, Ken SA1). It's ridiculous..
At least Akuma is somewhat weak, so I don't mind him as much. Air FB spamming is much less effective in 3S, thank god.

Because with hard training you can be just as good with another character. Ive played and owned plenty of Ken players without using Ken.

Good for you.
Now let them play their game how they want to play it, and you play your game how you want to play it.
Complaining about someone picking a certain character is almost as bad as saying throws are cheap.
If you really don't want to play against shotos, play against Dream. He uses Oro, Necro and Elena.
What matter is the player controling the character  and of course the lag :lame: . that's it.
 I didn't know peopple are calling throws cheap. I guess bitching never endeds

Since this topic really isnt going anywhere I got a quick serious question.
How do you do maintain kara throws when the buttons are so close together? On a MAS stick and etc. the buttons are spaced out enough for my fingers to have the room to connect, but on a PS2 controller ACK. (Xbox or PS2)

Ness: You can map your kara throw move to one of the shoulder button and kara throw that way. Kara palm on a stick is still no joke though. I was on my way to learning it for awhile but it's wayyyyy to hard to do consistantly.
