Lets all please start palying on turbo 3. The game feels more like turbo 2 from psx/DC and it makes it much more intresting. Slow SF just doesn't cut it.

I started playing it on speed 3, But then everytime I joinet someones game it was always speed 2. So I just started doing speed 2 rather mixing the both. I would rather do speed 3 and I will try and remember next time I go on...................But lets not forget that one day when we go live we will be forced to play speed 2 cause their aint a single SRK player online. Personally I wished they just didnt give you a choice and made 3 as default instead of 2

speed 3 = too fast, and not default speed. 2 is fine. 3 is even faster than arcade 3. Default arcade speed is 2. Please don't turn this into SNES SSF2 with crazy speed settings, k thx.

When I host a game it will be 3. When I join a game I won't care what speed it is.

Well it depends if you are talking about the japanese version or the US version. In the US arcade the speeds are Turbo 0,1,2,3, the default arcade speed in the US arcade is ACTUALLY 1, (see attached screen shot). http://home.comcast.net/%7Eskforty/Images/ssf2t000.png
In the Japanese arcade, the speeds are Turbo,1,2,3,4. The default arcade speed in the JAPANESE version is 2. (see attached screen shot.) http://home.comcast.net/%7Eskforty/Images/ssf2xj000.png
For people who dont know, anything in PURPLE on the menu is not default, anything in that goldish/yellow is default.
Although they are different numbers, Japanese default 2 is EQUAL to the USA turbo 1. I am inthe process of editing videos i have recorded illustrate this. Likewise down the line, all of the speeds are the same just different numbers. USA 1,2,3,4 are the EXACT same as JAP 0,1,2,3.
Most people in the USA play on Turbo 2 like Dream likes, even though its NOT THE USA ARCADE DEFAULT, because the REAL default IS 1, and feels a little slow. Likewise, on the Japanese version, the default is 2,(which is the USA speed 1) is a litte slow and most people put it up to 3. This is the JAPANESE version of SF:AE so the speeds listed are 0,1,2,3 and they threw in 4 for just for fun i guess, because NO ARCADE version of SSF2X HAD A SPEED AS FAST AS 4. The default is 2 just like the JAPANESE arcade default (which is USA speed 1), i like to play on 3 because its USA speed 2. Dream, If you like USA SPEED 1 , then i completely understand why you like JAP speed 2 cuz they are the same. But if you normally like USA speed 2, then you should play on JAP speed 3 because they are the same. I have recorded videos of SFAE, and speed 2 is USA speed 1, JAP speed 2. SFAE Speed 3 is USA 2, JAP 3. SFAE speed 4 - No arcade has a speed this fast. Sometime this week ill try and edit the videos to show people side by side.
Here are 2 other screenshots that show USA has turbo 0 while JAPANESE has turbo 4.

I'm wondering if this games is worth playing. is it slower than ST on the maximum turbo levels(turbo 3 for american ST, Turbo 4 for the japanese version of this game)

you can play at ANY speed, the jap versions have all the speed the US version have and vice versa, they are just numbered different in arcades. But on this home version, they are using the japanese arcade speed numbering format. US version will most likely be identical, because US version of ps2 is same format.

This will be interesting to see, as it seems to many that the US and Japanese speeds don't match up. Japan turbo 4 seems faster than US Turbo 3.

speed of 2 is fast enough, if your playing Guile. Down at Family Fun in LA, All of the good players like Watson, Schaefer, Gearld, My bro and I preferd the speed to be on 2. Speed of 3 would be to fast for the players that are playing defensive against a rushdowner.

i highly doubt people like watson would play hsf2 on japanese turbo 2 and prefer it. since hes been playing st on american turbo 3 for 10 years. japanese turbo 2 on this game is slower than hf IMO. cant stand the speed

The default US Cabinet is 2, the speed on free select for ST is 1, 2, and 3. When you first turn on the cabinet, it is default 2, I own 2 ST boards, and have run a grip of tourneys, so I should know the speed....10 years of speed 3? We ran MWC this year on speed 2 for both ST and HSF, no one complained. If you happen to play yourself on speed 3, of course you'll notice it being slow when you go back to 2, but it is way too fast if you really look at it from the person who played it on default 2. SOmeone decided it was a good idea to make tourneys on 2 after MWC brought ST interest back to the states in 1997. Someone was wrong.

I originally played Super Turbo at default speed 2... Free mode speed 1.
Uh, why would anyone wanted Super turbo to play as ridicilously faster than the Genesis SSF2?
I even played at it's original SF2 CE speed.

dream: i do agree with you for US ST. i like turbo 2 the best on arcade US ST. and i feel turbo 3 on live is the closest to that speed. but turbo 2, atleeast on live, is no where near the US arcade turbo 2 speed IMO

I know what you mean also, Dream. I own both the Japanese and US arcade boards and since the US board is the preferred board to play on here I can REALLY feel the difference. I guess that's why it gives you the option to change the speeds if needed because not everyone likes 2-3. But again I have to agree with Sabre that the game plays like SSF2 on default speed on XBL...
I'll still play on speed 2 but will I like it? No, but all that matters is that we are getting our game on :)

I think the same goes for playing arcade CVS1, it's slower in the arcade, faster at home, so I slowed DOWN the speed to play at home. SSF2 speed? That's a bit of an exaggeration, I think the speed is fine, it's faster than Hyper Fighting for god's sake, and that was basically SPEED 1. Ah well....
