Hi. I'm new to these forums.
I'm pretty new to fighting games, the only one I've played extensively is this, Capcom vs Snk 2. Was just wondering what "RATs" and "turtling" is. I have a rough idea of what turtling is, but can someone further the explanation for me? I don't know any of these fighting game lingos
I do play live, gamertag: Kakistocracy. I know that I'm not good, for any of you who have played me. I think I'm getting better, though. I've got some limits to what times I can play, but usually a half hour a day.

Kakistocracy, to answer your questions, since someone answered these for me...
RaT: "Roll and Throw" - Rolling towards an opponent, and coming out of the roll with a throw. Hard to react to if your connection is laggy. This tactic is /annoying/ in the arcades, but easily defeated too. It can be every bit as annoying on Live, but can be countered just as handily if the connection is good: I had someone try this on me last night, Geese used them for Shinkuu Nage practice.
Turtling: Basically, blocking everything, rarely attacking. Playing defensive. Has been strongly curbed by the inclusion of Guard Meters. Anyone still complaining about turtles is just making excuses, except in a few poorly designed games where it genuinely is a problem.
ND/DD: "Normal Dropper, Dirty Dropper" : Types of match-droppers. People who leave the game when it's obvious they're losing. Not to be confused with someone who's honestly just played enough matches.
Hope that helps.

While we're on the train, may I just ask EXACTLY what RC means? Is i roll cancelling? And exactly what does that mean?

RC - Roll Cancel - To cancel the beginning frames of a roll into a special move so the special move maintains the invincibility frames of the roll.
Read more about it here
I'ts only in the Dreamcast, Arcade & PS2 versions. It's not in XBox or Gamecube... the roll cancel is there, but you're not invincible.
