You can't select between the two colors in CE and HF on player 1, but you can on player 2.

That means when I'm player one, I don't see how you can get Red Ken in CE or HF.

This affects my gameplay severely, as I am not able to do touch of death with Ken unless I'm in my red suit.

Wrong. P1 and P2 side costume selction is reversed. on p1 side just use the BACK BUTTON as opposed to the normal attack buttons.
