How to play 3S online

I am confused as to how most of you are playing online at this moment.I know some are using modded xboxs to play but what about unmodded. I have a us xbox and I have an import copy coming in today so am I assuming that all I need to do is turn my language to japanese and I'll be OK to play. I realize that there is a chance of the region lockout but hell it's too late I already ordered it.

Steps for playing Japanese copy on American Xbox:

1) Open game.

2) Put it in your Xbox.

3) Turn power on.

4) Enjoy.

There are no fancy tricks involved in getting this game to work. No settings you have to monkey with, no anything. I have an unmodded, factory condition Xbox that I play this game on no problem. Capcom, for whatever reason, didn't put a region lockout on this game. And, as an added bonus, the game will detect what country your Xbox is from and show things in that corresponding language (super names, win quotes, etc.).

I want to reiterate what the above poster said.
I have a launch(Nov 15 2001) Xbox , USA, NON-MODDED and it works flawlessly online. Just boot up, select which game, and Xbox Live will be in the menu. Just sign in and you're ok.

Well I got mine about 11am today. I ordered it on the 13th. And much to my surprise it worked. I'm not sure if mine was pre recall or post but hey it works. I haven't tested it online yet but I can't wait.

A few more questions. When in LIVE do you show up as ENG or JAP. And if there is a domestic option there how does it work.....with the import copy I mean.

the FIXED discs arent even ready yet. capcom said the new discs wont be ready for another 3-4 weeks. so importing is still safe

Well I have a question, can I still order from lik-sang, play-asia, and UK websites and STILL get the region free version?
I went to play asia and it said W-code:first print
But when I checked it says plays on XBOX:(has picture of Japanese flag only)

I want to buy now, without having to resort to friggin Ebay.

Alot of different websites say the same thing, has it been like this since its release or what?

Reading is fundamental.

Assuming SaBrE knows what he's talking about, you can import from ANYWHERE and still be fine.

If you're still worried you should ask one of the online shops about it (ncsx, lik-sang, play-asia, etc.). Call/email them and get the scoop.

NCSX specifically notes that their copies are region-free. I have never, ever been burned by them and neither has an old friend of mine who has done business with them for almost 6 years. My copy is en route, so I had better damn well see a MulletGearSolid online in the near future you wisecracking bastard ;)

I still think the connection with non-US players sucks, but other people are saying they're playable. I will say that while there aren't "plenty" of US players on, you can usually find a game pretty quick (at least when I've played, which is usually at night) with a Yankee.

I can't comment on the Hugo bug as I've never seen it. I think it has to do with the music crapping out.

I really don't understand at all why they just don't release the game in the USA if it's already ready. Why make us wait and do you guys think that when the american version does hit there will be a auto update that may lock you guys out? If not I might as well go head and order it also cause that's the only thing that has kept me from doing so I don't wanna get burned when "our" version gets here.

I purchased my copy of SFAC from the same place I have bought all of my import gaming needs: NCS. The reason is simple: They offer customer service beyond the call of duty. Another thing I should also mention is that I have received my merchandise the next business day no matter what, as long as the call is before 5pm EST. Sure it's a bit more money ($57 at NCS w/ shipping while liksang is offering it for $45 I believe?), but they've never let me down in the past, and I strongly recommend them for any import needs.

Anywho, I picked up SFAC before I got my Xbox. I tried it out when I got my hardware earlier in the week and it worked beautifully. Just go to NCS and buy it... End of story. :)

I think you guys are blaming the wrong people. If you're order is taking a long time, don't blame Lik-Sang, blame the Post Office. Assuming Lik-Sang shipped it already it's now out of their hands and they can't control what's going to happen. If you chose some ghetto shipping expect to get some ghetto shipping.

All this is said from the perspective of somebody who had to wait a near-millennia to get his game.

i used ncs as well. I HATE waiting for stuff, and im pissed that i waited until friday at midnight to order this. Well, i got the ps2 one to tide me over.
hopefully it will be a region free disk, or there went some hard earned bucks. Also, for those that have been online with it, would you say that there is a decent amount of players online?
I mean, with CvS there is probably about 2 or 3 hundred locals, anyone got a ballpark figure (US players)

like someone said earlier, if the game is done and such, and it even has the option of changing everything to english when used on a US console, why int he fuck do we have to wait 4 more months for a US release?

they said something about using xbox live 3.0 ....so tell me, does japan have 3.0 yet? when we get it, will we have 3.0 options and they wont?

Or will there be a patch to change japans game to 3.0 or what? im confused i hope someone can come up witha logical answer.
