I'm not setup on xbox live yet, and I'm still questioning whether to do so or not (bsod, lag, dropping issues etc.). However, I'm just interested what chars peeps mainly use online, particularly in relation to the connection quality. I'm just wondering whether the vast amount of shoto players that exist online is due to the fact that their main chars like Yun have issues due to lag (like Genei-jin combo timings and links), thus not being able to play properly.

I use yun exclusively and am a total noob, and the lag isn't so bad that i can connect on the genjei jin alot of the times, and the times that i don't isn't usualy becuz of lag its becuz of my timing.

I played against "Glory" this past weekend. He didn't seem to be having any major problems with Yun's Genei-jin.

I've played about 300 games. Probably 80 percent have been shotos. However, I have seen a few of the other characters here and there. I'm not bothered by the volume of shotos tho. Peeps can use who they want. I'm just happy to be playing 3S !!!!!

The fact that I'm exclusively playing Ken-III at the moment has less to do with connection speeds than the fact that I'm playing on a gamepad.

When I get my stick, I'll go back to Makoto as my primary character.

There is like NO lag at all in a good connection. It's not like cvs. When you press A button it comes out instantly with like no delay at all. I really wish CVS was like this.

I've played a couple hundred matches on SF3 and honestly, I've only had a handful with lag so bad it messes up timing.

I pretty much play Elena, though I mix in Ryu, Remy and I'm just learning yun and Necro, and I'm really scrubby with 'em. :wow:

Ok, another question. If you've played on kaillera, doing specials and stuff is proper solid due to the low keyframe inputs available on a 'Good' connection (20 keyframes), which meant that joystick motions had to be slowed down a fraction just to get the inputs registered. Is xbox live play more responsive to fast inputs (e.g. anyone managed to kara-palm or tachi gigas online? )?

Have you played on the DC version of 3s? There's some input lag on that version. When you say that an input comes out instantly, is the response time better than the DC's native input lag or similar?

If the connection is good enough, there's no input lag at all (e.g. better than DC). Kara-palm and Tachi Gigas are definitely possible, I'd try but I haven't received my stick converter yet. But it really depends on the connection between the players, sometimes it gets much, much worse than DC delay. And when the lag is bad the matches can get pretty stupid.

On a personal level Vince, Live is really fun but don't get your hopes too high and expect it to be anything like arcade play. There are lots of scrubs on there and in some matches lag *will* fuck you over eventually... Most players are super random too. It's really cool to mess around with but look elsewhere if you're looking for serious tournament-level play IMO. You're in for some deep frustration otherwise.

I think peaceman is getting live too btw.

I'm bouncing between Alex, Dudley, Ibuki, and Ken(just because I'm comfortable with him). Played around with Urien a little bit but not to the point to where I know what works. Oh well....back to practicing.

Well, judging from a few threads I've seen on here. I'd be expecting a lot of newbies and scrubs loitering around live, but it's not like I'd be playing random people anyway. As long as there are a selection of players like BillyKane, Fujisawa and a few others posting in the good games thread, and as long as the connection is decent, I don't mind (I'm pretty damn rusty at 3s nowadays...)
NTL are going to upgrade their speeds early next year, so hopefully by then I'll be on a 2MB connection ^_^

I dont like playing with shoto's anymore...
Sometimes when its just fun matches, i try gouki and just try some shungokusatsu setups.

Mostly i play with Makoto and trying to get my yun back on skills. Randomly pick characters like Dudley, Urien, yang and etc.

I've fooled around a little with Hugo, Q, Dudley, Oro and Necro. But now I'm settling down for 100 % Necro for a while. Got to be good with at least one chracter before i mess around :)

I like the weirdos of 3s. I don't know why the shotos don't appeal to me. With a name like Q, who wouldn't want to play him/it? :bgrin:
