And there are people like that all over the Internet, specially when the insults become racial, or personal, therefore making it not just about a video game, but about the persons self-respect I AM ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE. But nobody has insulted me, so I would not unleash the bloodshot-eyed rage (and good thing, cos it would make me look stupid and barbaric as fuck).

I really dislike player scrubs who button mash, and don't want to get better. The point of playing a fighting game is to get better and beat the other person. You cant really play a fighting game for fun, without wanting to get better to have MORE fun. Do you level up in final fantasy games? Yeah, you do, becuase it's more fun by getting all the levels and items. Should you want to get better in Fighting games? it's only natural if you like the genre.

Most people here in BC don't have the correct mentality it takes to play fighting games, and i think they should just stop if my shit talking offends them. If you're not going to be competitive, I dont want to waste my time talking or playing with you. That's pretty much how it goes for the BC scene. We all dislike playing shitty players who don't want to take the time to learn how to get better, and strive to beat us. That's the kind of flame I havnt seen in anyone since I had it, and it's kinda sad.

I had a boss that I really believe was copying the manager in Office space. He walks around with his coffee looking for things for me to do with that slow "yeaaahh, if you can please get this done by....blah blah blah". At our 20's we start to see life as something else. We start to see the reality of it. Specially if you have to work 9-5 jobs.

But you know what? it's meant to be that way. Absorb as much knowledge as possible, then maybe you can one day freelance or start your own biz. Or you might get better at your carreer and make big bucks, and end up liking what you do.

Me, being older that most guys here, used to be a total wreck in my early 20's. I hated work and saw life as the dark ages. I could not see the end of the road, nor where it was leading. What I hated the most was the anxiety. Not knowing what's next. But as I aged, I started to adapt, then you start to see more pieces of the puzzle. You then start to understand life, and most of all yourself.

Don't worry too much about it. The fact that you're working, and absorbing knowlege everyday, is already the right path. I'm not saying it's the best path, but it will still lead to the right direction.

As far as all this shit with Navid goes... personally I have a VERY thick skin from years of hardcore sales (boiler room type shit) so it doesn't phase me and I think his intentions are good... however it is a proven fact that POSITIVE reinforcement works much better than NEGATIVE reinforcement does.

Personally I have no problem saying I suck and that certain parts of my game are extremely lacking (like finishing) I even told Navid the other day at movieland that that is my biggest weakness - I tend to just go apeshit and do the most ridiuclous risky things when I am close to winning and I end up letting the other person make a major comeback and ruin all the good things I did to get him down to 5% hp etc... I have no dillusions as to where my game is at.

I'd like to think I am improving - there is a LOT of information to digest in this game in my opinion - I am just now understanding everything that IS possible and what works and doesnt work. Applying this to gameplay at the right time + reacting + execution is something that will take some time tho.

Watching navid vs alvin and sal the other day I learned quite a bit about fighting strategies.

So why are people so against them? Besides, a taunt is also intended to make your oponent rush you. Just like in real fights, it's a tactical bait.

If anybody sees me taunt in a game, it is not to insult nor belittle you, it is so that I do more damage on the next hit or combo (I noticed that the taunt damage bonus actually increases the damage of the next combo you do after the taunt)

fisrt of all. during casual matches, alvin and tao has had the leongest streak than any of us by far. and navid, has been the only one to beat tao in a tourney that i've seen. plus the 11-1 streak in over a night of getting good. is PTRETTY DAMN GOOD if you ask me. i've taken 6 wins out of 7 from tao and knocked him out of a tourney that ended up me being robbed from my glroy out of nowheer. but the bottom line imo, tao navid alvin is in the number one categotry. i haven't trained as hard in like EVER to be in that category, nor would i want recognition to be number in 3s because i can never bveat alvin consistenly more than he can beat me. therefore if i really have to pick who's number one, then it will be alvin by a little. but becaue he chokes in trouneys and against tao, he can never be number undisputedly. but i only say he's number one because he's the only one i lose to in a consistent matter. i'm able to beat tao and navid a few more causal games tahn vs alvin

They have Tekken DR, Tekken Tag (near the billiard tables) 3s, CvS2, Marvel, SC3, LAN games, Maxi Tune2, Initial D, House of the Dead, DDR, KOF Special Edition, Simpson's the arcade game, some punching game, some hammer game that Tao raped today, Billiards, and some other random gay games.

Tekken DR is a dollar per play (gay), 3s is a dollar to start (gay), 50 cents to continue but it's best of 5 rounds, CvS2 is a dollar per play (gay), Marvel is 50 cents, and KOF game is 50 cents.

The 3s setup at Lesters is pretty decent, but the competition is eh over there. There's only one decent player who plays Yun, but Andre is way better than him. Your just better off trying to set up some games with us if you want a challenge, but if you don't care and just want to play people, the crowd usually gathers around 11pm-2am to play. I don't know what days they're usually there, but Sears probably knows.

I must say, Paul Lee, you have a long way to go. I saw you trying to red parry Giddy's Ken's supers. Why would you do that in a money match??? Just block them.

I think that's the problem when playing vs people if you focused your training on combos and full parries, you end up wanting to show them off in matches... which usually leads to frustration, then defeat.

Props that you can bust combos and parry, but next time you should use it for punishment, and do the parry exhibitions when you have a major lead over your opponent.

And NO, the speed in the arcades is not slower nor faster than the console. It could have been the pressure and adrenaline in you. When your heart rate goes up, your timing changes. So just play more people, and you won't get the shakes as much.

I got the shakes when I played Navid. His Chun is insanely deadly. That's why I wanted to play him more, so that I play with the best and get used to the pressure (that's right Navid, I think your Chun is the best I've ever seen).

Anyway, Giddy was really really good yesterday. I think he does better in the arcades than on console. Paul, i'm really glad you didn't push through with the surrender. That would have been very dishonorable, both to yourself and Giddy.

Uhh.. we are talking about 3S here though. Rated as one of the best Arcade to console conversions ever (on PS2).

I do understand that the CVS conversion was not so smooth though.

The PS2 version of 3s is slightly faster than the arcade version, but the difference is minute. So the speed difference isn't an issue, expect for maybe Yun SA3. Even then, it's nothing really unless you play in the arcade only and hardcore.

Actually Keith, we've been playing since I got the DC port and started playing on the Hori Sticks that came with the DC I bought which was about a year ago or so.....but because I found the sticks a bit hard to use cuz of them being worn in and old, we started using pad.

Oh and Hanz, sorry about my previous comment of beating everyone in Richmond. I didn't know what exactly went on, pretty amazing if you can play with a cast on your left.

Enigma, I don't think anyone would just pack up and go somewhere to play 3S friendly matches. Tournament like T7 or Evo, maybe.....There's always another reason to go somewhere...the 3S friendly matches (or in this case, unfriendly matches) are just something that goes in the "what to do to kill time" thing when you've been there before.

Navid was kinda right, there's no point being nice to scrubs if they don't realize that they are scrubs.

I too have seen the light. Some newer players are just cocky as hell, or deliriously think they are super good. They do deserve a few remarks to snap them back to reality. It's also a reality check for me to see that some people still love to talk the talk, but can't walk the walk.

I think one of the reasons I improved so fast, was because I actually listen to the OG players when they drop tips. Some stuff seem to not make sense (Like Tao's minimilistic style, but it starts to happen). This is also why BCs newer players improve fast - because we have senior veteran players whom we observe and learn from. In fact, even the OG players can still get better since everybody takes competitive play seriously (hence the occasional money matches).

So Shingo, and other out-of-towners, we are not pushing you guys away. We wholeheartedly welcome out-of-towners. But when our words seem harsh, it's because we are trying to drive a point that we play and train to win. If we lose, we take it as a loss, and try to get better. But when out-of-towners report that we don't play well (which was very untrue in your visit), that hurts the pride and all the dedication we have put into our game.

Shingo, and all out-of-towners, we welcome you guys as always, but this time, we won't give any mercy (to show respect for you as well). Ironic how we give mercy rounds and take it easy on newbies because we actually don't want to hurt their feelings, having travelled so far just to not enjoy being owned.

Remain calm, take your time - dont feel rushed if you have to parallel park etc, and act with confidence, and dont get all tight lipped - relax face and smile :wonder:

oh and look around A LOT - mirrors over shoulder blind spots etc etc

look around a lot. mike's right. let instructor know you're safe and aware driver. when changing lanes; shoulder check, a MUST.
be sober.
when in school zone, KEEP SPEED BELOW 30 (auto fail).


true story: my brother was taking his class 5 road test, and his instructor was a buddy of his who works out in the same gym he does. the whole test was just like, yo wsup man? is this your car? where'd you get the body kit? when did you lower your car?
he had the music cranked up, he said he was driving with one hand while leaning back, and going 50 in a school zone, so his "instructor" was like 'you might wanna slow down a little.' hahahahahaha. and my brother was just like, 'oh yeah sorry' LOL

Don't go 10k below the speed limit. I failed cos I was becoming road obstruction, when if fact, I thought I was clever and playing safe. Also, keep looking around and have a wide eyed "i'm very aware" look while not having fear on your face.

My second driving test, I had no music it was 2pm, I had the AC on just right, and the instructor fell asleep for 15 mins. At first I got insulted, then I realized that I will not fail for sure. True and funny story of why I still drive like I'm in Manila.
