I'll be back sometime before the holiday season. Not the weekend I thought I would be since I'm going to Nagata Lock Down now on the 11th but I'll probably be back on the Friday after since I have to be there that weekend for my girlfriend's cousin's engagement party. I'll drop by the Cove that day if people are going to be there and not bogged down by exams...

Oh me and Nam were also trying out the 80% Yun combo as stated in the CFE manual.....TIGHT TIMING is my cimment. and it is practical considering it is started off lp lk mp chain into Youhou ..etc..rest of combo...etc. I also see exactly why now you no longer play 3s yun. commands are different, inputs are differnt and everything cept for command motions are differnt (youhou reveresed excluded).

Hello Hamilton,

My friend and I have made a site www.illusionsofoasis.com It is a Canadian Street Fighter site that plans to unite the 10 major Canadian SF regions. The site design is done for the most part so what we are doing now is advertising it in hopes that we can attract as many players from each of the 10 regions as possible. More info on the larger scope of the site can be found in our statement, which is on the main page. I encourage everyone to join as the Canadian SF scene is not very united and this could be a good chance for everyone to come together. So far, I thank Justin (aka Nagata Lock II) for agreeing to help with communication among the Greater Toronto Area (GTA SF). If anybody else from any of the respective regions would like to help us, here is what we are basically in need of at the moment.

1) business people to help with the future services and business aspect of the site
2) advertising people to help promote the site in their respective regions
3) website caretakers to update the site as well as admins for the forums
4) content providers, which includes but is not limited to match videos, pictures, custom videos/tutorials, articles, and news

If you are not interested in being part of the team, then we would appreciate if you could agree to join the players league. An example of Eric (aka JS Master) shows what questions must be answered. Once completed, please make me aware of your decision on SRK by PM or my alternate form of contact is MSN (geeseownzu@yahoo.com or add Morpheus). That email is also the email I check. hmmm Hamilton is pretty spread out.. it's hard to say who would represent the entirety of Hamilton.. I would say Rey.. but he's already so busy.. LOL school, job, owned by g/f.... that and he's retired....It's hard to say... i've done a few things here and there.. but mostly for the EG/Mohawk SF players, i dont' know anyone down at Mac other than people i already know because they play at EG/Mohawk or post here. Hey guys, ORBIT installed Capcom Fighting Jam last night (Thursday) and we are adding it to the final ORBIT tournament of the year on Saturday December 18th. With the game fresh and everyone actually playing it (if only for now before it's too late) I suggest everyone in Hamilton get their shit together and make their way to Markham for what will probably be the biggest tournament outside of T5 (the end of the year tourney is typically very big and will be all the bigger with a new game).

RXS.....actually I came in couple times to Mohawk for the last 2 months,I can see there is crowd around 3S all the time...CvS2 and MC2 is confirmed to come in next year....another good news for your guys,Drum Mania is coming in also...please don't mind it's only 4MIX,and I'm thinking to bring in Guilty Gear X to Mohawk,if you guys like more music games...I have one Dance Maniax extra that I can bring in to Cove...kindly leave me your opinions for this 2 addition.

If all of this stuff is coming in, you basically have a cove that is as good as York's.

All you need now is to request that the Cove be open later hours and weekends I think...(Colleen could just work her normal shift and they could leave the place open later or something?)

Ewww... gross! When I grad, I wouldn't even go near that stupid book. Probably wasn't the course, but the teacher made it shit, therefore my perception of database fundamentals is of pure hatred!

My theory, boycott them until they get bored and/or beat the game. It's only fun if the beast has PEOPLE to beast, the computer really ain't that challenging (as you can see, they get quite the enjoyment from fighting 'parry' characters, ie. Sean). Last time Rey came to the arc with me, he was like.. "Aww, there's no one here, I'm leaving", therefore I can conclude that it is other players to play against, making it exciting to play 3S. Since we can't control the number of players who come in, by controlling who plays while "the beast" is on, he (or she... ya right, we wish :rolleyes: ) will eventually get bored, leave, move on, or beat the game, thus allowing other more.. uhhh.. 'equal' players to practice. Of course my theory has yet to be tested since some ppl like to ruin my boycott, hehe! :wink:

Of course as much as I try to boycott them, I end up submitting to my addiction to 3S, and end up literally, wasting quarters on it :lame:

My Current Boycott list for 3S regulars at Mohawk:
- Rey (except for his Urien)
- Mario (Most chars)
- Ike (Urien)
- Nam (Urien, Ken, Yun, Yang)
- That tech dude.. dunno his name, but I want to barf on him more than I would wanna barf on Rey! (Akuma, Urien... probably all chars)
- Teddy (All chars except his Ibuki... :lol: )

edit::damn i type slow...anyways...yeah i agree with kenny...i understand that people need to practice against people on their own level to get better...and he knows that I only find it fun to play other people....cause CPU is boring to play...it's just to me I don't like 3s that much...I just play it cause it's there to play...so It's only worth it to me to play other people than the CPU..anyways..so when they get mvc2 and cvs2...i'll stay on those machines way more than 3s since i'm 10x better on cvs2 than on 3s...on another note...might sound stupid and hypocritcal but I'll play the CPU on mvc2 on cvs2 anyday just to practice combos more...it's hard to pull off ken's CC consistently :lol:

Another thing for Mohawk people is you should set up some times for casual gaming at some people's houses...that way you can practice more without throwing all your quarters away. Set some shit up, get together and practice. These casual events generally tend to be a lot of fun too considering you're chilling with a bunch of people...

Trash talking is a lot more fun at casuals too... :tup:

The other thing to get better is just to ask one of the better players some tips...I don't know anyone in Hamilton who would be rude to you or anything if you asked for a tip or two. I gave a few tips to uhmmm...forget his name, starts with a K... :xeye: ...for Ibuki at the Cove when I was there.

Also, take a look at some MATCH vids(avoid combo vids for the most part really) on the net too...take what you learn, incorporate it into your style and then take on some of the better people at Mohawk and see if you've improved...

EDIT: Oh yeah, and learn from your mistakes...if you're doing one thing over and over again and it isn't working, its generally a good idea to try something different. This is probably the #1 reason why people get labeled "scrubs"... :karate: these type of people try the same pattern over and over and start to whine when it doesn't work...:lol:

picking up joysticks was a pain. I guess since the SFII and the original capcom series died down, I stopped playing out on the arcades are pulled back to playing them on computer (which is great since itz FREE! haha.. Gotta love being a cheap Asian). I've gotten so used to the keyboard, that is why you always say I execute my super motion too fast, because on keyboard, it needs to read in a fast swift-motion instead of a slow motion on the joystick. And plus, itz so easy doing moves on the keyboard, because a key is a key, not a 'point' of the joystick that you need to hit. Once I hit the key, I know it's coming out for sure. K3yB0@rD 4 LyF3 ... wow, that was so gay.. oh wait, LoL, remember that picture? hahaha!!

Oh and hey, being the smart man you are, you fixed the "3-punch lockup" problem on the keyboard. Remember how I couldn't do the counter in kawaks because TYU locked up when I tried to hit all 3? I moved them to UIO, and KL; and it works great. My fingers are still getting used to being so far apart as compared to before, but at least I can use 3p or 3k. You should get a decent computer and come join me n' Whorehay over Kalliera netplay! He's pretty damn good, I'm trying to draft him over to SF! :lol:

She's a fun character to play (plus, with my immense obessesion of her) but sadly takes a crap load of damage, meaning I'll have to learn how to parry (properly) to effectively use her. Definitely a great char to use 'cuz of her potential to do rushdowns, unlike chun which I haven't seen any practical use of her rushdowns.

And of course, I finally got to borrow Vince's DC/3S/Joystick, which is kick ass, 'cuz on Day 1 of my training, I've learned a crapload of stuff already, including chun-li's arsenal of cancels, and the hit confirm on her d.mk. Can't wait until Rey comes online so I can rant about it! :clap:

Then again, most of the stuff I did was in training mode, and against AI... not sure if I could pull it off against human players, or with the stress (and also the cost of 2 quarters for losing). Anyways, since I have the equipment now, I can go ahead with my planning of clubbing Rey, kidnapping him, locking him up in my basement, and forcing him to reveal all his SF secrets, and to watch him execute moves all day! So many moves to remember, so many target combos, and so hard to do (dude, I just finished mastering QCF/QCB, and now I have to do it in the AIR?!!), but she is t3h r0XorS! nay! Kenny will maintain a 95 average, and so will she according to our agreement! So far I've only screwed up on one quiz, and one test (stupid AMA) that has been below our agreeable standard. All my classes I already have a 70+ or so mark, so I can scrap the writtens and still pass, but of course according to my parents, I must always get at least 101%. Come next January when we have CVS2 and MVC2 along with 3S, i'm gonna try hard to arrange monthly tournies to give the local SF scene a boost. So look out for good things at the Mohawk Cove. Also, I MAY throw a small tourney this friday, or sometime next week. In any case i'll keep in touch.

I can use Ibuki.

You should refrain from using that 3 punch target combo, but use it only for punishment situations (after whiffed Dragon Punches, supers, etc.), or when you know it's guaranteed to hit.

Try her lk, mk chain, canceled into whatever special...it hits both standing and crouching opponents alike, so it should be used more often.

hit the c.Forward too late. OPh and i ALWAYS hit it in the corner and off AA shoryukens...soooo dont jump and never whiff anythign with your back in the corner
Um, if you do c.mk into lp dp in the corner, I don't think you need to kara the dp for it to hit.
Same with anti-air dp's.
So maybe you "think" you kara-ed it, but you actually didn't.

When I was watching his hand motion, I didn't see anything but simple DP-timing for them the body was dropping down for the second hit. Didn't see any kara'ing motion, but I could've missed it. I know (although slightly unrelated game) in Alpha 3, I can double dragon-punch too, except it actually plays the whole voice twice. While a couple times when Ike did it on the 3S machine, sometimes he timed it faster, all u'd hear is shoryu and it cuts out into the second one while plays the full voice. It was gay seeing how much dmg Ibuki took on the first hit, and the second one just added to the homoness.

I can use Ibuki.

When: Everyone who is entering has to let me know a day between Monday and Thursday NEXT WEEK before 4 on those days (tourney must finish at 4).
What: 3S only (we don't have new machines yet, but come January I will definitly be doing CVS2 and MVC2 for part 2-3)
Why: Bring the Hamilton SF Community together, and see where we stand against each other in 3S, and who is on top in the city.

Parrying is good most of the time depending on how much damage the other guy can do, and if he can hit confirm or not. Most of the time, if u parry with intelligence, u run the risk of eating max 10% damage, while if ur parry works, u can do 30-50% because u already know waht ur gonna do (hence the parry...ppl dont parry for the hell of it).

Justin - it's not an official T6 tourney or anything like that, it's kind of a way to try to get people together and get things motivated in Hamilton. It seems alot of people now are interested in SF so I want to try to keep the flow good and keep everyone learning new things. Considering how bad some of us (not all ie. Team Hammer) did at T5, i'm sure the same people who went last year want to make sure we place better at T6. So what I thought was, since i'm working at one of the local arcades now, I would throw a monthly tourney (3S,and CVS2, MArvel 2 when we get them) to see where everyone is at, and to see what the progress is in town. It realyl is just something thrown together to get everyone in town together. Cuz H-Town is going to Own T6 next year.. FOR FREE :> (atleast i hope we can LOL)

thats a myth. it doesnt do same damage whether u hit or make em block. What's not a myth is that on either hit or block u will get fucked up. The super is for the ex's and the end of the match chip.

Hey guys, I know all of you don't know me, so I'm hoping that someone remembers who I am. My name's Garfield and I play at MAC with the lower tier characters. If that doesn't spark any recollections, I'm the 'other' black guy (not aaron, in other words).

If you've been to MAC recently, you'll notice that I've pinned up a sign-up sheet for a small 3S tourney sometime within the first 2 weeks back from holidays. The official scheduling for it will be posted as soon as I'm finished my last exam (Dec.21/04), so I'll keep everyone posted on that. If there are any preferences for times that you cannot make (if you're interested in going that is), then just post'em here and I'll try to schedule it around those times.

Note: this is the first tourney that I've ever done, so just be patient with me, as I'd like this to be an experience that benefits all within our growing community. If you have any suggestions on things that I should do to make things run more smoothly or things that are essential to executing a tournament, feel more than free to express your views.

It is awesome that you're preparing a tourney at Mac.
Sunday (does it open on Sundays?), Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are the best days for me.
On every other days, however, I work evenings 'till midnight.
And I doubt you'll be holding the tourney during the morning/afternoon since Mac arcades closes really late (11 PM), which means that it's usually better to start the tourney later during the day because of that.
Anyway, just name the date and time, where and when to sign up, and I'll see if I can make it.

I haven't been visiting Mac lately, but damnit, Mohawk is just so much closer to where I live (plus, I'm lazy).

Say, Garfield, I don't get Mac and their parking prices; I remember parking there on Friday once, and it costed $7.50 (WTF?), but I only paid $3.50 the other days that I went to Mac.
Does it only cost that much on Fridays? Or does the price change during the different hours of the day?
Better yet, do you know any area near Mac where I can park for free?
It'd be really great if you can help, and I'll visit Mac much more often if I can find a place to park without having to shell out the dough everytime (need those for SF, hehe).

man... now I know what Rey meant when he said Hamilton stands minimal chance against TO players... Before I could even pull off a back-fierce, I was already dead... interesting. Although UN was fun, 'cuz (well first of all, unlimited play = I don't care as much!) and that the ppl playing REALLY helped me practice. And second, it was mostly our group whoring the 3S machine, which meant I stood a slightly higher chance of winning.

Kudos to Rey for introducing me to the porno game! w00tness, both you and the game rocks! :lol: Tonight, I have learned how to become especially cheap-ass with Chun! yay. :clap:

Just giving you guys a run down of tonight (for me anyways)

Highlights:
- Going to my second big tournament in toronto and not getting knocked out first round in 3S ( Sorry John, NECRO loves you )
- Some how getting even matches with Parry Master Jay???? ( i got lucky i think)
- Playing Necro and winning LOL
- SF2:RED WAVE (shit is classic LOL)
- playing MVC2 against JSMaster and saying " I KNOW HOW TO PLAY, I CAN MASH ASSIST!" and then the following ownage by Juggs and Hulk
- massive win streak at UN with Necro
- win streak on CFJ after a long losing streak
- various witty comments by HELLOKENNY
- Getting into UN for only 10 bucks (gotta love employee specials)

lowlights:
- driving around for 30 minutes to look for a parking spot
- snapping from tourney pressure in the losers bracket after a clean first round win
- being mentally beat for half the night after the tourney
- waiting around for HelloKenny to decide whether or not we were staying for UN
- realizing i didnt' get my paycheck thsi morning :@ stupid simon

My Comments:

This tourney was hella fun, I'm sticking with the wierd 3S characters from now on (Necro, Q) I think i improved alot since the last time i played against Toronto players. It was also nice to see Hamilton placing decently well in the tourneys. We should keep this stuff up, Hamilton's player pool is growing almost everyday. In any case, thanks to everyone that showed up tonight and making it fun, to those that coulnd't, thats too bad you missed out, maybe next time. AND TO THOSE THAT SHITTED OUT (Mario, IKE) WTF?

-finishing in a four way tie for 1st(I think) in CFJ due to the Orbit UN controversy shutting the tourney down...I'll take it...:tup: I WON 5 bucks!!!!!! Now I can go nuts at the dollar store!

-People who keep falling for my shitty Rose bait-out! :party: Everytime I do it all you could hear in the arcade is Rey going "BAITED OUT!!! HAMMER!!!"

-hanging around in the 3S tourney about as long as I possibly could...finished 7th maybe? Had no right sticking around that tourney that long... :clap:

-Me and Rey switching up on both CFJ and Hyper AE during UN and basically running both machines for a while

-playing JS Master in CvS2 during UN

Lowlights
-CvS2, played alright in casual but when it meant something, I panicked and died like a newbie 2 and out...still after all this time, I can't fight Vega

-SF2 Red Wave...slow sonic boom+air throw while I'm still on the ground is a SCAM. That's right, Rey...SCAM!

cool to see Rey, Darko, John, Garfield, hellokenny, Ed, Dave, Vince, Teddy all make it out from my old hometown...GO Hamilton!

my quick notes about the tourny:
-entered 3s for the fuck of it and use oro and own up the first 2 round in about 2 mins each which is weird
-3rd round play JSmaster and lose with (oro, Q) to his chun
-loser's bracket goes down to the final round against a guys Akuma...get totally owned up by his crazy mix ups...since I was expected fireballs and hurricanes cause of hamilton style akuma's which totally suck compared to this guys...
-getting peaced out quick in cvs2 and nearly got OCV'd every match...I'm now a cvs2 scrub as I suck and can't play...
-not knowing about CFJ sign ups and getting entered into losers bracket and throwing that game cause me and john had to buy stuff
-good turn out by the hamilton players, keep it up
-GGs to everybody at orbit
-thanks to darko for the drive
-thanks to justin for the hookup
random stuff:
-jamie manages to make a worse quote than "you got served" after I kill a guy on CFJ with a crazy yun combo jamie goes "BOOOOM...shaka laka laka" :lame:

Last night was fun.
Notes:
- Found out i was playing against Roger during my first match of cvs2. Made it to his 3rd character. he's cool.
- Owning up the cfj tournament. 1-0 for the good guys. I'm going to claim myself undefeated in this tourney.
- Vince's necro owned me up for free. Good job Vince, keep it up.
- Telling Darko not to fall for Jamie's Rose bait-out before the match. He fell for it twice. :clap:
- getting owned up in MvC2 but pissing ppl off with Gief's throw assist into combo of choice @ UN.
- Walking around the mall and talking about where to buy balls.
- "The Store" closed down after we wandered to the centre of the mall about 5 times.
- Using our bargaining skills to take off 48 cents. :clap:
- Watching some chick dancing her heart out at McDonald's Drive-thru.

I'm happy to see a good turn out from hamilton and hope we continue to improve on our skills to a higher lvl and impact the scene in the future. Gotta represent the Hammer! :tup:
