Hello Montreal,

My friend and I have made a site www.illusionsofoasis.com It is a Canadian Street Fighter site that plans to unite the 10 major Canadian SF regions. The site design is done for the most part so what we are doing now is advertising it in hopes that we can attract as many players from each of the 10 regions as possible. More info on the larger scope of the site can be found in our statement, which is on the main page. I encourage everyone to join as the Canadian SF scene is not very united and this could be a good chance for everyone to come together. So far, I thank Justin (aka Nagata Lock II) for agreeing to help with communication among the Greater Toronto Area (GTA SF). If anybody else from any of the respective regions would like to help us, here is what we are basically in need of at the moment.

1) business people to help with the future services and business aspect of the site
2) advertising people to help promote the site in their respective regions
3) website caretakers to update the site as well as admins for the forums
4) content providers, which includes but is not limited to match videos, pictures, custom videos/tutorials, articles, and news

If you are not interested in being part of the team, then we would appreciate if you could agree to join the players league. An example of Eric (aka JS Master) shows what questions must be answered. Once completed, please make me aware of your decision on SRK by PM or my alternate form of contact is MSN (geeseownzu@yahoo.com or add Morpheus). That email is also the email I check. Either of these contacts are fine for me, but the easiest is probably email.

btw, it seams like ATI is waiting till next year to make the AGP version of its X700 video cards :rolleyes: The only AGP card that's available right now (excluding Canada) is the GF6600GT which is like 260-280$

The website name is kind of random, but I think the idea is good overall.

I can't see arcades becoming popular in Montreal like they used to be, no matter what game comes out. It's a dying scene and there isn't much we can do about it.

I'm just going for vacation and to do the Inca Trail while I'm down there. I might be back in 5 weeks or 2 years, depending on how smart the Peruvian government is. I'm only Peruvian by birth (not by blood), but everybody born in Peru has to do 2 years of military service once they hit the age of 18. I left when I was 5 years old and this will be my first time back. I doubt this will happen, but I mean it's possible.

On another note, I spoke with someone on SRK who is from Peru. He gave me directions to a popular arcade in Lima. I'll go check it out, the biggest games there are the KoF series and 3S. I'll have internet access down there so I'll let you know if anything interesting happens.

P.S. - For those who want the World of Warcraft authentication key I'll be downtown tomorrow all day (Wednesday), so if you want it just let me know and I'll come meet you.

They moved the 3S board into the GGXX cabinet, so now 2000+ officially has the best 3S cabinet in Montreal. PERFECT 360 STICKS BABY! Only one thing though, the sticks are really stiff. Hard to jump around sometimes, but execution is nice.

They also moved all the machines around, the MvC2 machine and Ultracade cabinets are now where the SC2 cabinets used to be. They also switched the CvS2 cabinets around... so just to let you know: the broken CvS2 cabinet is on the LEFT side now, and the working one is on the right. :tup:

Good games. With Chun you have to play run away and wait for your opponent to make a mistake, unless you have really fast reflexes and are able to combo cr.mk into her SA2 on reaction. The only reason I managed to parry your cr.mk -> SA2 was because I anticipated it, I saw you trying to pull it off before. Patience!

Here's the break down:
1. Left side is a little harder than the right
2. Left side's :df: doesn't work that well, can't dive with Yun/Yang well.
3. Right side is really good.

Do you guys mostly hang out at 2000+? I haven't been there in a while(I usually only go with one of my friends) but hell I loved the competition.. Aside from the broken fierce last time I played CvS2, that kind of sucked, and nobody played 3s.

I doubt any of you guys know me, but I used to hang out at the old 222 back in the day(94 to 2000). I was there 99% of the time. I live pretty close to that arcade, too bad it's just dead and crappy now.

In any case, I'd love to meet up some local ppl to play. Seriously, as much as I like 3s on XBL, there's something to be said about good local competition.

Do you guys mostly hang out at 2000+? I haven't been there in a while(I usually only go with one of my friends) but hell I loved the competition.. Aside from the broken fierce last time I played CvS2, that kind of sucked, and nobody played 3s.

I doubt any of you guys know me, but I used to hang out at the old 222 back in the day(94 to 2000). I was there 99% of the time. I live pretty close to that arcade, too bad it's just dead and crappy now.

In any case, I'd love to meet up some local ppl to play. Seriously, as much as I like 3s on XBL, there's something to be said about good local competition.

but he'd ease up when my last character was pretty much dead.. he'd just block and let me even get a few hits in, kill a character or two n shit so i could practice a few things... that was really cool of him and i thought he represented the community well... never gave you any quarter but was merciful and helped ya get better... :tup:

everyone i played with that day was real friendly and nice... it was a lot of fun playing with those guys, hope to play with them again soon

I love playing 3d fighting games on Jap Sticks and thats what they have for tk5 so its like perfect thing is ive never played any other tekken before (like seriously) so I need to learn the basics of this game but anyways 2000 is pretty damn ok now we can start doing more tourneys there now

I went to the 2000+ arcade this week, as usual, at lunch time. First things I noticed were the three "Tekken5" machines in the middle of everything, which is probably a good thing for "3d" fighting games fans. The second thing I noticed is that the only game I actually enjoyed, GGXX, was gone. Last thing I noticed is that they kept Snk vs Capcom: Chaos. Why would they throw away ggxx and keep svc? It really pisses me off. I think I'll keep away from the 2000+ for a while.

For god-like speed and awe-inspiring combos in MVC2 there is only one place ---> the EVO2K4 DVD (which i happen to be watching right now). It includes a handful of ClockWork's matches...though not the best at the game, he's without a shadow of a doubt the only master of trap out there...You get to see him tear it up with Sent/Strider/Doom the team which he pioneered...even guard canceling won't do you much good against him...check it out man!!! :wow:

Lol Im almost sure that all those combos u talk about done by westcoast players not surprising why Eastcoast is stronger then westcoast in mvc2 right now. Ive watched a lot of wc and ive seen so much fancy shit in their match vids but when they play against ec players who dont do all that shit they fall why? Pfff its stupid that we dont even get snk games. They are the only ones creating new games these days and I do think kof games are more complicated to learn than any capcom game. I wanna try kof neowave too and they should also put 2k2. In japan kof games are more popular too. Ive even heard that mexicans play those games like crazy.

The thing about guard cancel is that it's pretty much the same as busting out Cyke and jumping away, and I've been playing against that for, what, 3 years? I know my strat's 2 years old, but the standard trap hasn't been an effective strat (except against pre-GC Sent) for a LONG time now. I haven't relied on the standard trap mainly because it was very hard to maintain, and intentionally letting the opponent go was easier anyway. So, opponentts jumping from the trap? I couldn't really care. It would just make it more interesting.

Hey, if you think Spiral's such garbage and can't handle GC AT ALL, then if you can GC you should own me, right?

MTL is really really vraiment seriously serieusement absolument for sure behind in mvc2 but to say we're behind because spiral is still in use and somewhat effective is an understatement.As for GC leading to an automatic victory vs spiral,I managed to pull out of the trap a couple of times but still banshee's spiral is a proficient blocking run away whore :rolleyes: . To be able to GC out of the trap is one step but there's more to her than that.As for mtl being poor in the combotition department that is probably true but execution wise I find the top players of mtl are pretty damn good at taking advantage of that one lucky hit and finishing their combos. I will be organizing a tournament for March break or around that time. The location will most probably be at 2000 (subject to change).
