I'll agree with Jamie...MORE TRASH TALK...it makes this thread interesting for a change...plus it gives me something to do during work :tup:

I can't remember the last time that people got so worked up over a videogame...but it's really good to see people getting more competitive and the SRK trash talk is interesting...I know that everybody wants to play to get better...some have other goals...I play for fun...my tourny team for cvs2 isn't the normal tourny team...I never took the game too serious...I don't know anything about match-ups, frames, priority...I just know what works...I don't practice or read tips on SRK...I just learned by losing to people better than me...but that's just me

then I think Vince is always playing other people who he knows is better than him because it's a way that helps him learn more...that's how I started...I wanted to get better so I played more people got owned up bad...and learned from my losses and got better...at mohawk everybody is getting better...i've seen great improvements with a couple of players...

Nam is a good player also...it doesnsn't matter if he plays around hamilton or out in tournaments...a good player is good...i'm sure if he didn't have to work every weekend he'd be out there playing with the rest of us...it's just that he can't...I'd say he's improved the most since he's never played 3s until that casual at vince's or when they first got it at mohawk...he knew nothing about the game...how things work...but now he knows so much on that game compared to then...all without tourny experience

well there's my work time killer for today...much better than playing World Warrior in the cafe...working early sucks...I had nothing better to do...and got no clue wtf I was saying in this random-rant of mine

To those who didn't go....

You missed out on lots of fun today, lots of good matches and a couple upsets too. The vibe was really good for 3S and CVS2 had it's moments too. Unfortunatly Marvel got jacked cuz of a crapped out machine. Getting there was also funny too, we counted 9 accidents going there and back LOL. We saw a dood wipe out into the highway barrier in the oncoming traffic side, right next to us. I can't give specifics on tourney results but I know i placed dead last in both CVS2 and 3S. Which was actually what I think I needed most. I learned alot, got to speak with Dogberry, Roger, and Justin a bit, and learned a few things from Teddy about Marvel 2. John also placed last in CVS2... so things didnt' turn out too well for him either, but all his matches really good and he did really well against some really good players. Turns out i played the same 2 guys he ended up playing.
I don't know how Teddy did so he'll have to enlighten you guys on that. oh.. and before i forget.. Jaime is a beast.. didnt' get to see his match against Roger though.

Highlights:

- The many accidents to and from York
- Curts crappy directions (go UP when you get into the parking lot.. LOL when it was really go DOWN)
- The crappy weather LOL for me.. it was just really funny.
- finding out Roger and I used to go to the same breakdancing jams even though we didn't know each other and talking to him about old days past
- Meeting some really nice guys (Ghandi, Kevin, Roger, and whoever else i missed)
- learning a bit about Marvel from Teddy
- Teddy's Napolean Dynamite performance (HAHAHAHA)
- some how eluding Ghandi in my second losers bracket round and hitting him with some Ryu ghetto tricks (haha John and Darko know what i'm talking about)
- learning alot about CVS2
- Teddy's magic Bison RH hitting that dood's ( dont' know who that was ) Blanka from behind

Lowlights:

- Crappy tourney performance
- not getting to watch the Marvel tourney and learn stuff
- not being able to think of anything else to talk about that sucked.

Overall:

Today was really fun, learned alot and got to know Teddy better. Also there is news about the LAN party i'm going to let you guys know about.

York was a blast.

Got there at about 11:30 which was stupid cause I didn't know the arcade didn't open till noon. :xeye: Spent the time eating a bagel and arguing whether I should attempt 3S, which I ended up passing on. Saw Team Brampton hanging around the front, met them for a bit as Justin made fun of the Hamilton guys trying to follow his directions. John, Teddy and Vince finally showed and hung out with them at Popeyes for a bit before going in to play some CvS2 casual. Got off on the right foot and put up a 4 game streak before losing to Ghandi and got smoked by Roger's K Groove one match before the tourney started.

First round I got a bye. Thanks Justin.

Second round I fought Kin and overcame some early jitters to get a big lead with Sagat and take him out with Rock. Second match he used a runaway Mai to put me 2 characters down but my Chun came up with not one but two dragon combos to pull the comeback victory.

Third round, after like a four hour wait, I fought Roger. I fought pretty well the first game and hung around long enough to make it interesting but missed an opportunity at a dragon combo in the final round and fell. Second game, his Rolento smoked me and his Blanka took care of my Chun. Thought I fought well, but Roger is too good.

In Losers, I make the mistake of looking at the brackets and see I face Ghandi, who I have a good record against, next and that if I won, I'd likely face Justin who I played well against last week at York. I liked my chances of finishing pretty high all of a sudden. Before I fought Ghandi though, Steve upset Justin in a Brampton grudge match. :wow:

Against Ghandi, I thought I had the first match well in hand but got sloppy in the final round and blew it to his nasty P Cammy. Second match, my Sagat got the healthy lead which I managed to hold onto with a scrubby roll kikosho in the final round. Last match, I get a bigger lead with Sagat but his P Cammy slaughters my Rock to make it even against Chun but I managed to hit a couple of links to lvl 1 super to take the set.

Against Steve, I have to admit I'd rather have faced Justin. Steve just has my number. First match I actually had well in hand until he hit me with a whack shin sho that crossed me up somehow and made me block the wrong way...still not sure how the fuck he did that. Second match was a sloppy affair on both sides but Steve pulled it out when I jumped into a shinkuu hadoken. Steve was just on fire and I don't think I've ever beaten him at CvS2; he beat me in the 5on5 way back too.

Anyways, I stayed around after and actually played some Tekken 5 using some really old ghetto Tekken 3 Ling Xiayou bullshit. Aside from using Tekken's version of roll throw a ton, I got rocked hard, especially by Kevin's Paul who has that fucking cheap punch that does like 40% damage and pretty much sets you up to get run over after...:wow: I think I'll mostly pass on T5 really...don't have the money to give to Namco to learn that shit properly. And fuck that card system too...:lame:

After that I watched the finals of CvS2, went on a decent 4 or 5 game streak with Ibuki on 3S somehow then watched the entertaining finals of the ghetto MvC2 tourney they finally managed to run.

Anyways, highlights...
--finishing 7th in CvS2; disappointed in my play the last match but still satisfied with 7th out of about 20-23 people or so
--watching JS Master go ballistic on York's Jap sticks
--seeing the constant trash talking between Sauga and JS Master in the Marvel tourney :lol: all that shit is so jokes
--Steve is the new King of Brampton
--noodleman hating my flipping, rolling, dancing Ling Xiayou; also Xcopying some dudes Xiayou juggle combo
--props to Kevin(Dogberry) for some good play in the CvS2 tourney as well; go Hyper AE! Old school!

Thanks again to Dark Dragon for the ride home and to Roger for hooking me up. Much appreciated since I didn't have a fuck what bus to hook up with at that hour.

Oddest thing about the CvS2 was that there were quite a few different characters played...Psychochronic used Raiden/Athena/Cammy. Luu who finished fourth used K Ryo/Gief/someone. Kin, my first round opponent used Yun/Kyo/Todo. There were like five people who used Mai and four or five people that used P Groove. JS Master used an insane Nakoruru. Roger used RC Gief in the first round on some poor dude Teddy called Curt Jr cause he used Kim rolling upkick thingy. Lots of variety in there which was fun to see.

Game guard is supposed to stop cheating in L2 somehow, but the major flaw is that it opens up direct hardware control, so any dick face can hack your computer( aslong as they know how to). It's always fun playing at Mac, they provide some nice challenge.
Warren is fun to play against, as always.
This kid could, and will, parry EVERYTHING, but that has been his main weakness for sometime now (susceptible to throws, etc.).
That Yun/Ken player is good, but got romped the moment I played Urien.
He doesn't know how to fight against the Aegis.
Urien's got too many mixups after he puts out the Aegis, you can't fight/beat it once it's on top of you/near you, you gotta block/parry it. Haha.
Still, with that said, Urien's mid-tier at best w/o unblockables, he's just not as threatening...sad, but true.

If its going to a theater, that FK will never get fixed...there's a CvS2 at Yorkdale Silvercity and the 2P stick is totally fucked as in won't work at all, not the buttons either. Its like its not even plugged in at all. They just throw shit in theaters and don't seem to maintain the shit at all. Every DDR machine I've ever tried in a Silvercity out here is a piece of shit. And they wonder why arcade business is not doing well?

There's two lessons to learn from this...

1. Don't call stuff out unless you actually hit what you're planning otherwise people will mock you. Well, in my case, people mock me for anything, but still.

2. If you're going to call something special, make sure its something special. Even if you hit that sonic hurricane at the beginning of the round, it probably wouldn't have impressed that many people considering its an old trick...really old trick.

Reminds me of when I tried it on some York dude with Justin's game and whiffed except I didn't go "watch this" beforehand and it ended up being funny cause I pissed off Justin for wasting his meter for no reason... :tup:

Yeah that was the wacky tourney. You sent me to losers finals. I had to come back 3 straight games to beat Jamie and then 4 straight to force a 2nd set against you. Then that guard break insanity costs me the match. Damn that was a fun tournament.
