Last year we lost a lot of talented players. Hopefully this year we find some new players to fill the void and maybe Jason and Steve can actually beat me twice in a row. HAHA! THEY WISH! :rofl:

Jason; can you host Sunday afternoon casual tomorrow?

I think I'm going to sell my PS2 HORI. Maybe someone can fix the switch (I think that's the only problem) and use it because it's too light for me and I'm getting used to my Anniversary Edition controller pretty fast (it works with my USB adapter so I can use it on MAME too). Anyone want to buy the stick?

I need to find that kid who smacked me with the unmashable at Silvercity Brampton and add him to Team Brampton.

First Sunday casual of the new year was not a good one for me. Jason totally destroyed me with RC Electricity and ran me over in both of our races to Five (5 - 1, 5 - 3).

Naw, mine is a HORI Japanese style stick. If you've ever played at Vince's place he has the exact same one with Jin from T4 on the face plate.

Yeah Jason ran me over on Sunday and for 1/2 of Tuesday and then I finally started breaking his Blanka. And thus the 5% trap was born. :tup:

Steve got rocked yesterday. I think he managed like 2 wins the whole night. His Akuma is random as fuck though. :wow:

I have a blister between my left hand middle finger and ring finger from doing rotations over and over. :crybaby:

My right wrist feels like it's been sprained. :sad:

The joints in my right index and middle finger are sore as fuck. :annoy:

I actually started playing quite a bit just after Christmas Eve when I started yapping with Jetphi about ECC10. Jason and I have been playing a lot of casual over the last two weeks and I'll be training up Team Weapon X until I'm satisfied that it's tournament worthy, at least through the first couple rounds.

Teddy; my wrist feels sprained usually by the end of a tournament if I go far, so it's not really that much of a stretch. It's just the way I position my hands when I play. It's an odd incline and isn't really good for my hand to be honest but it's what I'm used to.

Here we go, the line of excuses. My stick worked just fine when I rocked you at Jason's place. And it worked just fine for 5% trap. It's not my fault you can't hit up properly:

Welcome to Brampton!

What games do you play? The arcade scene is pretty dead in brampton...we just usually play at someone's house during the week, or head out to sauga/markham or something to play.

While you're at it, you can visit here (http://gtasf.thesmartmarks.com/) to check out some of our matches and stuff.

We brampton guys are more into CvS2, though we play MvC2 and a bit of 3s (though we're not that good at it) :P

Jason is a scrub and only wins CvS2 through blind luck and nefarious cheating (Roll Cancel Electricity).

I am also a scrub who only wins through blind luck and the ability to hit forward + fierce at the right times.

Steve is just a scrub who doesn't win ever. HAHA!

You're pretty much smack in downtown Brampton, which is a bit sucky because Jason and I are in the north east end of the city. Ah well... looks like a few trips to Shoppers World will be in order. In either case it's good to have another play in the city.

Actually that Marvel machine may well be the best one in the West GTA if not the entire GTA. I have never had a problem playing on it and it's the only machine I can consistently Triangle Jump on instead of getting the 30/70 rate or so I get on any other stick (outside of my own of course).

If I based how much fun I had at York yesterday on my performace I'd have said yesterday sucked.... but it didn't.

Highlight Of The Day: Either Jeff's Grand Finals comeback over Jay or Bryan's Mutant Miracle in MvC2 Grand Finals.

Low Point Of The Day: 9th place in CvS2. That's my worst placing in ages.

Line Of The Day: "You can trust me girl. I know I'm a stranger but it's OK, I go to church." (Steve yapping about finding ways to hook up with new girls who don't know you)

Well everything leading up to this tournament was drama with the weather but a talk with G3nn last night basically told me to run this no matter what unless it's total mayhem on Saturday morning. I left the house around 10:30am and the snow was blowing around pretty hard but the roads weren't bad at all (the benefit of light snow is that it doesn't fuck up the roads too badly).

I hit Tim Hortons and there's Tyrell standing in the front corrider with some girl. We chat for a bit and then Tyrell asks me to drop this girl off at a high school down the street. I'm like "uh... alright?" I mean come on, who's going to make some girl walk in that kind of weather? So I buy a Hot Chocolate to warm up and then put it in my cup holder and never touch it again. Good work Justin. Anyway we drop the girl off and then I'm like "Tyrell, where do you know her from?" and he shoots back with "I just met her." FUCKING PIMP! All I've got to say on that subject is that girl is fucking trusting as hell. She meets Tyrell for about 10 minutes, meets me for about 2 minutes and then trusts the two random black guys to drive her someplace. That is what we call FUCKING STUPID! If she'd met the wrong people she'd have been in a lot worse situation. We talked about the story at night driving home and that's where Steve came up with that line.

Anyway we get Gandhi after dropping the girl off and head to York U. We took the 407 because there was no way in hell I was going to touch the 401 in this weather and it was smooth. We made it in about 20 minutes and then waited forever because there was no one to open Cove.

It should be noted by this time that the Hamilton group has called my cell phone about five times trying to make their way to The Cove because they can't follow simple directions. This isn't rocket science people.

At your first York U entrance make a left
You will reach a stop sign and right in front of you a semi circle
Enter the semi circle and take it left
After a while you will see an automated garage on the right hand side
Beside that garage is a parking lot with the gates up. Park there, it's free on the weekend.

Did I miss something? Is that so hard to follow? Anyway, one of the Cove employees used secret ninja tactics to get inside because no one saw her go in there except me who caught it just out of the corner of my eye. CRAAAAAAZY! Cove opens up and we take registration. It went pretty smooth except for the random drop outs (Ian, Wing, Dennis who at least called) and the nutty car breaking down incident of Team White Boyz (who I'm sure will cover it on their own).

21 FOR CvS2! WOW

32 FOR 3S! HOLY SHIT!

Marvel was broken as fuck so that didn't start up... until much later. This all started when we tried to unlock Sentinel but none of the codes worked. Then the machine started to freeze up. I don't think it could have been any worse for the Marvel players. So I go to Marc and tell him that moving these boards is a fucking cakewalk (relatively speaking) and to just switch the machine. He eventually complies and we start Marvel about five hours late.

MARVEL VS CAPCOM 2

Vs Daren (1st Round): It's been ages since we last saw Daren. I thought I was playing Angry Black at first to be honest but whatever. We both run Storm/Cable/Commando. I take the first match pretty easy after settling down and not eating Corrider over and over. Second match we switch sides because Daren didn't like the stick and he had good reason. It wasn't stablized properly. I drop the second match and then the third match turned into this ugly turtlefest but I got in a couple of lucky Hailstorms and ran away for like thirty seconds.

Vs Jiggabry (2nd Round): Bry runs with Strider/Magneto/Doom. First match I can't tell if Bryan was going easy on me but I actually made a go of it with him as I take out Strider early and most of his Magneto and Doom. Then I got pinned in the corner and Bryan rushed me down horribly with Magneto. That game was mine to lose. Second game was nothing like the first as he rushed me down with Mags again to build meter and then ALBATROS! PORT! came in and I couldn't do a thing (I did block way better than I have at any point playing Marvel though so that's a plus)

Vs Ruben (2nd Round - Losers Bracket): This match is my own stupidity. Ruben runs Jill/Sakura/Psylocke and I immediately thought he was some low tier scrub. I took him lightly right off the bat and my Cable is dead before I know it from a couple of Jill slide OTG BS combos. It all fell apart after that. I take the second match but softening him up with Storm and then AHVB'ing my way through the rest. Third match I could take out Jill (who's obviously the key to the whole thing) and didn't roll out of the slide (which Gerjay kept telling me to do) and got smoked.

CAPCOM VS SNK 2

Vs Jiggabry (2nd Round): I got a bye in the first round being seeded 4th. I use Weapon X and Bry runs Team Ino. I got the job done in the first match as Hoahmaru does boatloads of damage taking out two characters. Bry makes the comeback with Sagat but I held on for the victory. Second match was more even but truth be told was mine to lose and I did blow it. Third match I had absolutely no business winning. Bryan ran over Vega & Kim. I had Guile in the back to counter Sagat. Thing is his Cammy already took about 1/2 my health before even getting to Sagat. So I play a very patient game, zone just enough and wait for Bry to throw fireballs so I can roll throw. I basically just wittled him down just enough so that when the timer was winding down he had to rush and I smacked him with two backfists to seal it. Sooooooo close.

Vs Luu (3rd Round): This was a match that drove me nuts. Luu runs K Zangief/Ryu/Sagat. Guile and Kim both work against Gief but I was stupid. He ran Ryu first and destroyed Guile and most of Kim. So now it's comeback time but I couldn't get anything going. Vega made it close but the end wasn't in doubt. Second match I know what he's going to do so I put Kim to counter Ryu but HE SWITCHES ORDER! WHAT THE FUCK?! I'm not going to bitch about order in the tourney but I'm making it clear for METRO that winners can't switch order. Anyway, my Kim runs Gief and then he gets meter and I got scared and he takes me down 100% in like ten seconds. After that I just didn't have it together and he busts me up. His Sagat c.hp timing was perfect and busted up Backfist horribly.

Vs Steve (4th Round - Losers Bracket): We've done this match up a billion times in casual. Steve's N Joe/Bison/Ryu vs my C Guile/Kim/Vega. Steve pretty much played the best game I have ever seen him play. He ran me pretty good in the first match without ever losing his lead. I switch order to put Vega first with Kim in the back and it was working as Vega takes down two characters on his own. Then his Ryu comes AAAALLLLL the way back as I turtle up, get chipped away little by little until the times runs out and I can't chase him down in time. GG's to Steve, he played better than I've ever seen him play.

HIGHLIGHTS:

York U 3rd Strike crowd was very vocal and I was glad to hear it. :tup:

Highlight Of The Day: Standard fare 5th place in CvS2

Low Point Of The Day: Dropping $10 to Bryan on the bet vs Rey

Line Of The Day: There were too many yesterday between that wacky lunch at PM and KBBQ later.

I started the day out heading to Pizza Pizza to get Ian for his first tournament. Of course I started the day off right with a balanced breakfast including a Meatylicious slice (protein) and a tall chocolate shake (cal... ci... um?). I chilled there for 1/2w hour but Ian doesn't show. Well thanks for wasting my time. Anyway I head down to Tim Hortons at BCC and Tyrell is waiting outside. I'm disappointed he didn't have a new random girl he was hitting on like the last time. Steve's inside buying some strawberry deal (fancy boy) and we're off.

We spent the entire car ride talking about Tekken 5 and the old Tekken storyline. It mainly boiled down to how much of a bad man Kazuya is and how he doesn't give a fuck about anyone family or otherwise. Too many jokes about OG Tekken and how it looked like blocky shit for the longest time. I at least got a refresher on the story for the last couple installments because I didn't know jack about Tekken going into the tournament.

We hit ORBIT and I played some casual. Eric got all pissy because I took 2/3 from him using all runaway tactics and the greatest new move of all: TIGER KNEE AIR SUPER! I smacked soooooo many people with that move today. Kin can't handle Vega BTW. Anyway GGXX of course hadn't started or was even close to starting so I elected to join CvS2 instead. Eric gave me the 4th seed (WHICH I DESERVE!) and we're off to the races.

Vs Ant (2nd Round): I got a bye in the first round. Ant is Eric's student and of course Eric has to bet me $1 to extend his losing bet streak. Anyway, the guy uses K CBS and it isn't bad but nothing I couldn't handle. First match was a walk and he didn't see Vega. Second match I got cocky thinking I'd run him and he smoked me back. Third match I took seriously and again he didn't see R2 Vega. In time that guy is going to be really good.

Vs Kin (3rd Round): I already beat Kin in casual today so I figured it was going to be tight but nothing I couldn't beat. He runs A Kyo/Todo/Mai and beats me down pretty badly in the first game because I kept jumping into him when he had Todo Grab CC. Second match I switch to Kim in the back (who was asking me just recently if I ever do that?) and rush him down with Vega. It works pretty well and I take it. Third match Kin fucks up his order and puts his R2 in the back instead of the usual middle. Vega runs shit for free, Guile gets punked and then I wait him out with Kim as I drop C.U.R.T. out of fear of the CC and take it.

Vs Roger (4th Round): I knew I was going to losers bracket at this point but thought I'd do better than I did. Roger runs with C Honda/Sagat/Blanka and nearly OCV's me with Honda alone. Second match I use Weapon X and actually made a go of it. It came down to the wire but I couldn't get my J.HP - C.LP XX Crystal Flash to work and the time ran out.

Vs Gerjay (5th Round - Losers Bracket): This is yet another chapter in the long running series of me losing to Gerjay in as tight a match as you can have. He runs A Honda/Sakura/Blanka like usual. I played the Kim vs Honda match to perfection (if I do say so myself) and nearly got a perfect. Then his Sakura comes in and CC's me to death. Then he builds meter and CC's my Guile to death. Vega takes her without much trouble and then of course it's the Vega vs Blanka match we've done what seems like a million times. We go back and forth, the time hits 2 seconds, I go for the walk up throw and he manages the tech, beating me by maybe a couple pixels. DAMN IT! Really good match though.

I can't really do a log for Tekken 5 because I only played one match and I was slaughtered by a Kazuya player in like two minutes. While I'm on the subject though, Tekken 5 drew a massive 56 players and had the most lively crowd of players I have ever come across outside of when we were at ECC9. The matches (when I stopped in to watch every now and then) were crazy. Everything hits for like 60% damage because of the juggling system and even worse when you get the guy in the corner and just pummel him to death. I'm definitely going to learn Tekken 5.

We hit KBBQ afterwards and that was a great time. Angry Black was looking for revenge after I schooled him in how much food could be eaten the last time around (Pete was the champ though). This time was different because I spent so much time yapping with Gordon and Wing and talking shit for literally hours that I didn't eat nearly as much as I could have. The best conversation was all "OH MY GOD, YOU KNOW WHAT WE'D KILL YOU IN? (fill in random game here)?" It was so jokes talking smack and thinking of all the crazy moments over the last few years at different tournies (I can't believe we brought up the Final Four at ORBIT incident from over two years ago). When it was all said and done, we agreed on an attraction match for T6 with East GTASF (without Roger & Eric to make it more even) vs West GTASF in a CvS2 5 on 5 Challenge. I think Gordon is running Ian/Marvin/Wing/Jay/Gordon and I have to assemble a team of my own. We all agreed that me/Gerjay/Tylor is a lock so I only need to get two more members and we're good to go.

HIGHLIGHTS:

The Chun Li Super scam that Eric pulled on Darin. :tdown:

The little asian kid that beat Nathan in MvC2. :clap:

Kin desperately trying to get people to play him in CFJ. FUCK THAT GAME! :arazz:

Team Sauga argueing over what was the best Zelda game ever made at lunch. :rolleyes:

FAISAL HOOKS UP THE B5 DVD! That completes my collection (B5, EVO2K2 - EVO2K4, ECC9, Texas Showdown 4, NEC3) of the major SF DVD's. :pleased:

Yelling "YEEEAAAH" when people got DQ'd during the Tekken 5 Tournament. :wtf:

In all likelihood I'll hold a qualifier tournament (probably at Road To T5 1st Stage in July) with who I think is the top 4 - 6 players in the West End. We'll run it Round Robin so everyone takes on everyone and the top 2 advance to the team. BTW, the initial three aren't debateable. Both Gerjay and my tournament records speaks for itself. Tylor has not only gained the respect of his peers over on the west end but he was the first person that Kin, Wing and Gordon all agreed was very good and deserving of his spot.

While I'm sorry that we aren't able to include either you or Roger, your participation was ruled out for an obvious reason. With the exception of the match where you'd play each other, your participation would create a situation where you'd go at least 4 - 0 short of an insane fluke loss. However, with every other team member on the respective teams, there is more than enough doubt on either end that the matches could go either way.

It's a matter of good competition more than anything else. When you throw Roger & Eric into the equation it changes the entire dynamic of things. There isn't anyone in their right mind that would argue the west GTA has a shot at beating the east GTA with Roger & Eric on the team. However, there are more than enough east GTA players that still say they (as a collection of players) are better than the best the west has to offer. So now we'll put it to the test and see who comes out on top. If the west can do it maybe down the line we run it with Eric & Roger in the mix and see if we can still pull it off. But one thing at a time.

We don't NEED a double or nothing match. In fact, IIRC Matt was running his mouth on me in the car when I went to the bank machine that I'd... be begging for a double or nothing match after they were done? Oh how the tables were turned.

I'm not going to argue over this any further. We beat the two best Sauga had to offer with Jay not even using a groove he plays with. We're not playing Matt/Gerjay again unless we come across them in the Team Tournament at T6 (odds are I'd be teaming with them anyway) and anyone else in Sauga that wants a shot at us have to pay the same $5 each team member that Matt/Gerjay did.

I'm going to put all the jokes aside for a minute. I just wanted to say that I think Geese is on the right track with this challenge system and that I think everyone should really give this a legitimate look. While I'm sure we can all agree that the challenge system could use some tweaking, the premise behind it is sound and I realized it last night when I lost my "title" to Jason. The matches were both tight (wish I'd taped them now) and I lost (which is relatively normal when playing Jay) but there was still a little sting behind it and the desire to get my title back. In the end, I think that's what Geese was always trying to get across, put the fire in people to not only go for a that title of Best in (fill in blank here) but make sure that you don't get that sting of losing what you know you could be holding on to. I encourage everyone to give this system a true shot, you may be surprised at the renewed interest in play.

I think Steve is ahead of Pete in rankings though I'm not 100% sure.

If we're running Tekken 5 ranks I'm definitely third under Tyrell and Steve (and I bet I could give Steve a run for his money now). There's no way Jay can claim shit on me after that 30 - 4 beatdown last week. I'll play Pete for the spot if necessary.

DAAAAAAY 1

Highlight Of The Day: CvS2 insanity casuals. So many good players.

Low Point Of The Day: FUCKING BURGER KING SCAMS (story later)

Line Of The Day: "HEY ALEX, HOW DO SAY PRESS START IN FRENCH!?" (Talking shit on Arcade Kid during the Sauga vs Montreal 3 on 3)

So Thursday night of course no one really knows what they're doing. Matt's flipping his lid over not having a ride, everyone is waiting on Eric only to find out he's randomly going to China and Poeta's situation is something onto itself. I try to get some sleep but of course I never sleep before tournaments so I get jack all in the sleep department. I do some last minute packing (I pack my camcorder but forget to put tapes in my bag, fucking brilliant). So I get some last minute talking to from my ever fearful mother ("are you sure you have to go to Montreal? Can't you just play at Jason's house?") and we're off to the races.

I grab my cell and there's a message from Kin saying he can't make it. That really sucks because I had hope he'd show at the last minute and bring all his random bullshit smack talk that I both hate and love at the same time. Oh well, sorry you missed a great time Kin.

Yorkdale is the biggest fucking scam ever. I'm supposed to meet Matt 7 Gerjay at Tim Hortons for 8:30am. That's no problem and I make it to Yorkdale a little after 8:00am. Thing is EVERYTHING IS BLOCKED OFF! WHAT THE FUCK? I do a bit of driving around and they're making an addition to the mall. So the underground parking was totally blocked off and so was most of the parking lot. I try to scam my way into the upper level lot near the subway and that's blocked too so I end up on the fucking Allen and had to waste all this time just to come back around and take the one entrance that's actually available. I get Matt & Gerjay and we talk over whether Poeta's car will make it to Montreal and have a good laugh over the Christmas @ York U incident. We hit up Stephen's place and play some Tekken 5. I rush shit for free with Law & Raven until I got cocky and used Paul and Matt barely beats me. Ah well... time to go.

Fucking Gordon forgot his bag in Stephen's car, which is now at his sister's place in Ajax so we waste like 1/2 hour on that alone. THANKS A LOT GORDON!

Now we get the crazyness of the portable TV and the near demise of my Digitcal Camera all in one shot. We hit up this place near Stephen's sister so we can get batteries for the 5 inch portable TV. This TV is so fucking beastly that it uses EIGHT D BATTERIES! HOLY FUCKING SHIT! We hit up some Dollar Store and they have cheap as fuck batteries. Now my Digitcal camera was running out of the batteries I had since Christmas (not bad on life) but they don't have Duracell Ultra. They only have Panasonic. I grab four AA's and we're gone. Gerjay, Matt & Gordon play CvS2 and MvC2 in the van while Stephen and I yap up front. I go to put the batteries in my camera and what do I see?

WHAT THE FUCK IS A PANAPLUS?

Stephen fucking loses it laughing at me. The batteries look IDENTICAL to Panasonic batteries (which are shit to begin with so now I've bought a knock off of crap) in colour scheme and we all thought they were Panasonic. Anyway I pop them in my camera and take a test pic and we're good. To be continued...

We hit up Wendy's and man this place was great. First off we see the Canadian Armed Forces DRIVING IN A VOLVO! WHAT THE FUCK?! This starts a big arguement over whether Canada has generals (I don't think we have that rank) or Admirals (Gordon: "Don't you have to have a fleet to have an admiral?" OUCH!) and it's all a big joke. We get into the rest stop Wendy's and it's pretty nice looking. There's this hot girl in front of us but Christ she never SHUTS THE FUCK UP! She fucking talked and cursed up a storm for like 10 minutes (good food, bad service) and whatever hotness I first saw went down the drain. We order the food and I'm of course nice to the old lady cashier so I get hooked up with double cheese and Bacon on my spicy chicken for free. OWNAGE! Gerjay and I tell the story of CQ and his lover at KFC and man that story is still great. Side convo:

Random Guy: Hey how far is it to Ottawa?

Me: About 2 hours that way.

Random Guy: That way? Are you sure?

Me: Yep

Random Guy: Oh man, I think I've actually gone further than when I started.

Everyone: HAHAHA!

Anyway I see a sign that says "make your own combo" and figured it'd be funny if Gerjay got a photo of it. I snap the pic and nothing. Al... right. I'm a little freaked about the photo but whatever. We get back on the road and it's relatively chill as we cross into Quebec and the shit driver quotient skyrockets. It's like you have to be cut off immediately to know you're in Quebec. My camera refuses to work by this point (where it won't even turn on) and I get fucking freaked. There's no way this thing is fucked up after not even three months. I figure it must be the batteries so I put in the other AA's and I get the same thing. So I pop in the Duracell's and they're already dead. AWWWW MAAAAAAN!

99.6 FOR REGULAR GAS?! GOD DAMN!

We get super lost and call Seb like two million times for directions. Then we hit a gas station and their directions are total shit and don't coincide with Seb's (that's not inspiring) but we eventually find our way to Saint Catherines. We see the arcade but can't find parking so what do I do? Wait for a red light and just got out of the van. HAHA! SUCKERS! Stephen immediately punched me in the back when they finally found parking and hit the arcade but I'd already racked up 3 straight wins in CvS2 so I didn't care. We played like five hours of casual and I met a few people:

Julian (Karamba): All I've got to say is HO... LY... SHIT! Best fucking Rush Down K Groove ever. K Akuma/Morrigan/Blanka ran casuals for so long. This guy is a fucking monster and raped everyone for so long.

Jonathan: Renamed "The Dad" by GTASF. This guy has a SICK Blackhart/Cable/Cyclops and gave our top MvC2 players a run for their money. Awesome guy to talk with as well as he's really down to earth and chill.

William (Wildestroya): To be quite frank I didn't like this guy. He played me all of twice and then talks shit saying he wants to play me for $50 because I'm shit and he wants to take TO money. Jesus two games and he's king shit. Fuck that. Bring it to T6 and I'll put up $100 on my turf like he wanted it on his and see who rapes who.

CAPCOM VS SNK 2 - TEAM TOURNAMENT

Vs Team Super Ultra Tiger (1st Round): The team consists of Jreinhert/Karamba/FreddyLoco. Yeah we got our asses kicked really bad. Did we even play Freddy in either game? Total destruction.

Vs Team Taime Ca (2nd Round - Losers Bracket): The team consists of Savanne/Victoire/Mana Boy. OK this is more like it. We run Vega/Blanka/Sagat and it's the typical pattern when we win. I bust up nearly 2 characters, Gerjay cleans up, Matt finishes. Rinse and repeat and we've won our first match.

Vs Team A3 Ghost (3rd Round - Losers Bracket): The team consists of PTS One/Nagen/JD. It's go time again as we run Kim/Blanka/Sagat. I took down 2 and 1/2 characters, Gerjay cleaned up. 2nd game they took P Groove and it was trouble. Match was close but we couldn't get the job done. We switch things up for the 3rd game and run Sagat/Blanka/Vega. The match between my Vega and Lars Cammy was soooooo close. I basically used bait pokes into throws and a lot of air throws. then it was runaway time. I got caught on a Claw Dive with his Cammy Up Drill Super and we're losing, Lars pokes, I Alpha Counter and take the super small lead as the time runs out. WOW SO CRAZY!

Vs Team Super Ultra Tiger (Losers Semi Finals): AWWWWW FUCK! THESE GUYS AGAIN?! Fuck it, this time around we're putting up a fight and you damn well believe we did. We run C Vega/Blanka/Sagat and this time I get the better of both Jay and Julian. Gerjay does his damage but Matt falls to Freddy. OK second go around I take down Jay, Gerjay beats out Julian and it's down to full Matt vs Freddy. Match was crazy tight, Matt hits Tiger Rade but his cancel turns out to be a fireball instead of lvl1. GOD DAMN IT FREDDY'S RAGED! GGPO!

I taped the entire Marvel Team Tournament and in the process missed out on what I hear was an insane CvS2 Grand Finals and some crazy stuff in 3S as well. FUCK! They keep playing so I take a quick walk over to Burger King. STORY TIME!

All I wanted was a whopper with cheese. It costs $3.69 plus tax. I give him a $5 and he gives me 27 cents.

Me: "Uh... what? Excuse me but you shorted my change."

Clerk "No I didn't."

Me: "Do you have different taxes in Quebec than Ontario?"

Clerk: "Maybe"

Me: "Well unless your taxes are 33 cents on the dollar, you shorted my change."

Clerk (now pissed off): "OK one minute."

So he runs off and I end up talking up some girl from NYC who's a transfer student from Panama (cool). She said that this same guy punked her out on change as well but she paid it anyway. Poor girl. The guy is still gone and another girl comes to the till so I ask her how much a whopper with cheese comes to after taxes.

BK Girl: "$4.24 altogether."

So the guy comes back and what does he hand me? Another quarter.

Me (now royally pissed off): "Excuse me but you owe me 76 cents."

Clerk: "No I don't, that's the right change."

Me: "This isn't rocket science, it's basic math. It's a whopper with cheese so it's $3.69 plus tax, which is $4.24"

Clerk: "But I didn't charge you for the cheese."

Me: "SO YOU OWE ME MORE MONEY?!

Clerk: "....."

Me: "GIVE ME MY CHEESE AND SEVENTY SIX CENTS"

Of course he's humilated by this point in front of about 30 drunk teenagers and 20 somethings but FUCK THAT GUY! He grabs my whopper and shoves it in the bag. I bring it back to 2000 and what do I see?

THERE'S NO FUCKING CHEESE ON THE WHOPPER! MOTHERFUCKER!

So things finally wrap up, I'm pissed about the burger but whatever. We chill for a while outside so Seb can get his weed and then we get randomness as three drunk girls from Toronto assume we have weed because as they put it "the only time a bunch of people are in a circle is to smoke up." Well then I guess I learned my lesson. Prez talks them up while obviously patronizing them and they're gone. We chill at Lars place and play poker for a while. Gordon's the luckiest SOB ever with his Outside Straight off the flip crushing my trips 10's. They end up playing CvS2 until 7:00am and that's the end of Day 1.

Also not sure about the pictures at the end. I doubt any one cares what we look like. It was cool in the post T5 trailer, but all those pics could be replaced with more combos. I say save the pics for a post t6 trailer.

OK I'll address things in order:

The Magneto combo will be changed up to something more fancy. I have tons upon tons of Magneto footage but that was from MAT III so I had it readily available.

Bryan left a comment about length of the video, this is only a teaser vid, the actual T5 trailer video is 6 minutes long and is only a skeleton of a video right now. No one is seeing that thing for a few months.

I've always had a liking for photos in trailers just to give it a more personal touch. If I do scrap it I'd probably throw in an old school clip (of which I have very little Kevin, sorry bud).

Jay's SA3 parry will go in every tournament trailer if I can help it. I love that clip and it was the first thing Noodleman recommended I use when I asked him for vid clip ideas.

I don't listen to Gangster rap but if people have recommendations I'll give it a go. I tend to use songs based around fighting (note the lyrics in the teaser and the lyrics in the T5 DVD trailer).

The lettering (bubble font) I used was already changed in the version I've changed since that one was put online. It's a more generic text.

Eric; the Vega combo is mine. There's a more fancy one but I can't do it reliably as yet. I actually pulled the combo in the video at MAT III casual but that particular clip is from home.

Gerjay; I have no idea what "hot" looks like in Marvel. All I look for really is resets and flying stuff with Sent. If you know it's fancy and you've seen it around then let me know about it.

Any more thoughts please keep them coming, I do appreciate it.

Jason's Blanka is the only thing saving him from getting busted up time and time again. :tdown:

DAAAAAAY 2

So I left off with us going to bed around 7:00am. Now the thing is I can never sleep (at least on a decent basis) in a strange bed (or strange uh… bear rug?) and then couple that with the fact that I NEVER sleep before a tournament. So after staying up for literally 24 hours I slept for… THREE HOURS?! CHRIST! Everyone is of course normal and thus sleeping without problems. I on the other hand decide to… take a walk. I grabbed my coat and started walking. I had no fucking clue where I was going but whatever, I’ll call Seb if I’m really fucked over. I walked for about two hours and eventually found myself on St. Catherines Street and walked into what I think was a Shoppers Drug Mart (though they were on an Air Miles program, which made me think it was a Pharma Plus). This particular SDM gave me a double whammy of a story. First off I went through their card aisle as my nephew’s 1st birthday is in three days. I bumped into this lady and excused myself. Wrong thing to do.

Me: “Excuse me ma’am.”

Woman: “What did you just say?”

Me : “Um… sorry?”

Woman: “I’M A GUY!”

Me: “…. Dude I’m sorry, I thought you were just an ugly woman.”

Man: “......”

Me (realizing what I just did): "......"

Leave it to say I walked away very quickly and did not get the card for my nephew

THE CAMERA STORY CONCLUSION

So I basically just wanted a bottle of orange juice. I go to the cashier and there on the rack beside her was Duracell Ultra batteries. Hmm… those are the last batteries that actually worked in my camera. I figured “OK this is a long shot but why not.” So I grab the batteries and pop them in the camera AND IT WORKS! THANK YOU GOD! I take the batteries out of my camera, grab the spare batteries out of my jacket pocket and hand the package to the girl.

Girl: “excuse me, but we do not sell these… Panaplus?”

Me: “Really? Well consider it a gift, I don’t even want a refund.”

Girl: “but we don’t ev…”

Me: “YES IT WORKS! HAHA!”

I walked a few blocks and found myself at 2000. The place was actually pretty busy with a lot of obvious scrubs playing the big three. There was a small group of players around CvS2 and I took the time to ask if they were entering the tournament. Four or five guys all said they were joining CvS2 and a few for 3S. I wait my turn and pick Team Throw Like A Girl because it’s my most shit team and these guys are garbage anyway. Well I think I may have cost Veasna/Prez/Freddy some money because I went on an 11 game (3 Yuri OCV’s, HAHA) win streak and another four game win streak. Through it all the five guys became one guy. So yeah, my apologies for scaring off the scrubs. I didn’t mean to. Then I get the most random thing ever as my phone rings and it’s…

ROGER! HOLY FUCKING SHIT!

I couldn’t believe that he was in Montreal as I was lead to believe he was on death’s door with the flu and wouldn’t be coming at all. Now as a personal aside, I wasn’t just happy to see Roger, I was outright relieved. While I’m sure Gerjay, Matt & Gordon didn’t really think about it, I felt a lot of pressure to really make a good showing at this tournament without Roger & Eric (or even slightly lesser extent Ian/Wing/Marvin) to make the showing for us. I’m pretty sure I had this big goofy smile on my face when he came in and we were walking down Saint Catherines. Anyway, we reach Lars place and everyone is of course happy to see Roger. Stephen’s comment of “we thought you were dead, oh well” didn’t exactly inspire my confidence but whatever.

Back to the arcade we go and it’s starting to fill up. I basically watched and didn’t play any casual prior to the tournament. Then it started to get wacky. Bryan comes to me with a comment about the MvC2 brackets and the first thing I see is that Alex is ranked #1. Oh boy, here we go. Now for those of you that aren’t aware, the GTASF players that came from MAT II all had complaints about the brackets (Ian vs Roger in the 2nd round of CvS2 rings a bell). I told Alex these brackets weren’t going to fly and in an instant I’m exactly in the spot I walked away from in GTASF tournaments; making brackets. So I made the brackets for all three tournaments and ran all of them (big thanks to Alex for being my runner, he was awesome) simultaneously from the 2nd Tekken 5 cabinet. I only entered CvS2 because the turnout for Tekken 5 was such garbage (what’s the deal with that? I thought Montreal had a big community?) and heeeeeere we go.

CAPCOM VS SNK 2

Vs Nagen (1st Round): There were 20 entrants so eight players had to fight out of the 1st round and I figured I would be one of them. I took on Seb because I only played him once in casual and it was tight. He said he wanted to play me the night before but I couldn’t be sure if he was drunk or stoned at the time. Speaking of which, it took 20 minutes to find the guy because he was off getting high. One look at Seb and I knew I was taking this set. The first game he runs C Groove (I’m sorry I can’t recall the team outside of Chun Li in Ratio 2). He pretty much fell for every trick in the book. The second game he used P Groove (again Chun in the back) and the match was a lot better but I got in Tiger Knee super and ran away the rest of the time.

Vs Chris (2nd Round): OK so when I read Alex initial brackets (they were only a skeleton at the time) this Chris guy was ranked 6th (and above Julian, which I thought was insanity). I didn’t know this guy and I pretty much know of everyone one way or another so either this rank was total bullshit or he was an unknown. I figured if he wasn’t there for day 1 and I didn’t play any casual he hasn’t seen C.U.R.T. yet and boy was I right. He got demolished the first game and had no clue what the fuck was happening to him as I threw him all over the place. So the first game was a smoke job and then Julian and Wildestroya show up and I knew what was going to happen. They’d both played my main team extensively in casual (Eric is right, sandbag casual in big tournies) and were coaching him through all my shit. They locked down his movements so C.U.R.T. didn’t get going and they coached him through a lot of my Guile Air Throw setups so I was in trouble. Despite all that I had the lead the entire game but it was crazy close. So we get down to the wire and he makes a huge error throwing a Tiger Shot. Now the old Justin would have jumped in with Fierce and maybe another poke and got out. BUT NOOOOOO this is Justin who thinks he can combo after 3 years of playing CvS2. So I go for my new J.HP – C.LPx2 xx Claw Super (see the T6 teaser, that’s my Vega) and like so many times, I didn’t cancel the second lp in time and it gets blocked. TIGAH RAAAAADE! Third game it was all downhill as I got pissed at myself and rushed him down (which of course isn’t my style) and never got a lead. I was not pleased with myself at all.

Vs PLA Solider (2nd Round – Losers Bracket): I only played Sheb once the night before and he beat me with S Groove bullshit. SOMEONE USE S GROOVE IN TORONTO SO I CAN FIGHT THAT SHIT! Anyway, he runs A Athena/???/Todo and I’m almost laughing because there’s no way he’s got shit on Kin’s Todo (and I was right). Of course I’m also garbage against Athena and I get mauled the first game and couldn’t recover. OK so now I’m in the fight of my life at this tourney against a guy I should be beating. I run Vega on point and Kim in the back (it was vice versa first game). I turtle up long enough to time out his Athena and then it’s go time on his Todo. Guile got rocked and then it’s down to Kim. Tiger Knee Super xx Triple Kick and it’s lights out. Third game was one of those games I’ll file under “I’m a fucking moron.” He switches to S Groove ???/???/Sagat (trust me the first characters don’t matter). We get down to Sagat vs Kim and I wait for my opening. Tiger Knee Super hits and I’ve got a lead. Now he’s desperate and I even say out loud “now you come to me buddy.” He jumps in with Sagat. POP QUIZ HOTSHOT:

B) Graduate from the school of monster fuck ups and try Kim’s total trash anti air.

If you answered B, you’d have chosen the same one as me and be a fucking idiot as well. Now he’s got the lead, times running out (like ten seconds) and I’m chasing him down. Step kicks for the chip aaaaaaaaaaand not enough. FUCK! I’m pretty sure I lost by a pixel.

So I came 13th, and that’s the end of my tournament.

Stephen is good enough to continue to run the brackets for me and I take the time to get my camera and start the taping. I got 4th, WF, LF, GF for Marvel (Jon’s Blackheart is just too deadly), WF, LF, GF in 3S (Freddyloco’s Makoto is so fun to watch and a welcome change from the boring Chun Li garbage that permeates 3S nowadays) and the WF, LF, GF of CvS2 (all I have to say is JD the ShoSho). All of the finals were sick as hell (except Veasna vs Alex WF 3S, which was some of the most boring Chun vs Ken I’ve ever seen) and the DVD will be done up sooner rather than later. For those of you interested in getting it… well… talk to Lars. I’m keeping the master copy, he’s getting a dub and that’s that. It’ll be up to Lars how distribution will work.

So we wrap up and then everyone stands around like fucking idiots outside for like an hour trying to figure out where we’re going. We all knew we were going to the casino, I don’t know why it took so long to just say “OK lets go now.” We hit up Nickels (which Lars was wrong about, the place was fucking awesome) and I got Potato Skins (YEEEEEES!), the side salad that’s like 2 regular T.O. salads (HOLY FUCK!) and the Rib Steak (which was not medium well sadly). Everyone yaps about different shit the most important being Evolution and why it’s important that everyone come together and send Veasna because he’s the best hope Canada has.

HEY IT’S TONY!

I elect to ride with Tony on the way to the casino for a change of pace (I didn’t see him all weekend pretty much and it was good to talk with Veasna as well). First thing we have to do is save Stephen’s van though.

REEEEEEWIIIIIIND

So back around 1:00pm we’re on our way to 2000 and Stephen has to make a U turn. Now while everyone is yapping in the backseat, I’m up front with Stephen and when he made that U turn I knew we were in trouble. See when a tire is really low on air you fucking know it because there’s no pressure pushing the rubber off the pavement like it normally should have. I didn’t say anyway to Stephen because I figured we may have just gone over a ridge in the road. I’m of course right on the money and as soon as we parked both Stephen (who heard it as well) and I see his front passenger tire is flat as fuck. That’s…. just…. Great.

FAST FORWARD

So Stephen has to get to a gas station and fill up the tire. Some sealant (he obviously has a slow leak) would be great as well. It takes like 10 minutes to find one gas station (what’s the deal with that?) and guess what, THEIR PUMP DOESN’T WORK! At this point I’m sure we’re all freaking out on some level. To make matters worse the attendant (who I will rename “asshole cockrider” from this point forward) told Tony the gas stations down the road all had busted pumps (THREE STATIONS AND NONE OF THEM WORK?) So Tony thanks asshole cockrider for his help and then says we’ll check ourselves. Tony, Veasna and I head down the street looking for another gas station.and the first one we find, a mear block away had a working pump. Back we go, asshole cockrider watches us come back and knows his story has gone to shit. FUCK YOU ASSHOLE COCKRIDER! Stephen manages to get down the street and almost overinflate his tire to boot (10lbs more pressure than needed? There’s an explosion waiting to happen).

The casino was relatively uneventual but fun to take in the atmosphere. Matt won some solid scratch as did Alex. Will (Flowcus) got murdered at the Blackjack table. Then I discover something crazy. Gerjay has the power of the slots. Every machine he played on either paid off instantly or within a few tries. I couldn’t believe the luck that kid had. He came within ½ a bar away from winning NINETY TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS! Gordon beasted on one machine and won like twenty seven bucks in quarters IIRC. I suck at slots, GGPO!

We head back to Lars place and they’re still playing CvS2. Jesus Christ don’t people ever tire of video games? We play some poker and I’m due after getting fucked up by Gordon the night before. I all in him again early and this time it pays off as my KQ suited beats out his pocket 9’s when I catch a Queen on the turn. Matt gets beaten down by my trips 3’s. Freddyloco turtles for like an hour and then destroys both Will and Gerjay, catching a flush on the river and beating both of their all in straights. DAMN! We elect to split the pot because it’s about 6:30am and I’ve got nothing left. Sleep can’t come fast enough but they keep playing CvS2 until probably 8:00am or so. I wake up like 2 hours later and get everyone ready to go (why am I the dad in all this?). We all thank Lars (who was the fucking man, I can’t thank him enough for his generousity) and we’re on our way.

HIGHLIGHTS:

Alex thinks he's won his 3rd match in MvC2 WF and runs his mouth but Bryan activates The Bry Factor and makes the sick Magneto comeback. :wow:

Pimping the fact I understand French just fine (I can't speak it anymore but I understand conversation well enough and read it fine) and then Tony makes me look dumb when I keep saying the road name is "Rue" and he points out that "Rue" means Road. :sad:

Veasna bounces just like Gerjay when he does the ShoShoSho. :lol:

Gerjay and I are both convinced that Freddy is the devil on earth when he smiles and Seb is Montreal's Dennis The Menace when he's high. :badboy:

Trying to understand why Tekken 5 didn't get played all day and as soon as Stephen and I agree to a Race to 5, everyone lines up their tokens. :confused:

I (C Guile/Vega/Kim) defeated Noodleman (A Hibiki/Bison/Blanka) 2 - 1 to reclaim my Brampton CvS2 Title. It is my second reign as champ. Jason's reign ends after 18 days and two successful title defences.

With that out of the way...

GG's to Jay, Steve & Tyrell. Tekken 5 matches were pretty good both when they were down to the wire and on the occasions when Tyrell would just destroy everyone with his Kazuya. Hopefully we can play again this week.

OK so Pete and I played at Shoppers World yesterday and that place needs some repairs:

CAPCOM VS SNK 2
1P stick is... off somehow. Basically the switch that handles left and up left is fucked up so when you go from bottom right(crouch) to left (say for a Psycho Crusher) you end up with a Devil's Reverse.

3RD STRIKE
1P Forward Kick is 50%
1P Roundhouse is shot. We're talking 5% if that.
1P Fierce was probably 50%

I didn't play Marvel or ST so I have no clue what we're in for with that. I may go back today instead of Skybox because no one from Sauga seems to be going.

Lee asked me about tournaments and if we can get the machines fixed I'm going to move the Skybox tournament that's supposed to be on 04/23 to Shoppers World.

On a side note, Kerwin wants to hold Kaos Tournament II on 04/16. I can make that tourney so if you guys (Jay, Steve, Tyrell, Gandhi) are interested then lets all go. The first one (two years ago) was lots of fun and I figure this to be the same.

EDIT: Jay; did you want to hit Skybox today around 2:00pm? I finish work at 1:00pm and then we can head over. I can only play until about 5:00pm at the latest but there'll be a few people already going and solid comp.

Let's get business out of the way...

I (Storm/Cable/Capcom) defeated Noodleman (Magneto/Iron Man/Psylocke) 2 - 1 to become the new Brampton MvC2 Champion. It is my second reign as champion. Jason has held the title since March 10th, successfully defending it twice and held it for 23 days.

Jay; can you play Wednesday? That's my off day this week.

Steve vs Jason in MvC2 Ranking Battle later this week. BOOK IT!

York U was a great time...

Highlight Of The Day: The Ratio 4 Challenge.

Low Point Of The Day: One mistake cost me 4th place in Marvel.

Line Of The Day: I can't replay it properly but it was at KBBQ and Rey is talking to Vanny for like two straight minutes and then Vanny comes back with "... I didn't hear a word you just said." OMG it was fucking priceless.

In any case, I really need to get over this whole "I can't sleep before tournaments" problem because it was made all the worse going into York. I had worked a 9:00pm - 5:30am shift the night before and figured I would just sleep until around 1:00pm and show up late. Of course that didn't pan out at all and I was up by 10:00am. I managed to burn a few last DVD's for Rey (always last minute) and find Jay online. He's good enough to drive today so we make a last minute grab for Gandhi and we're gone.

Most of the car ride was spent listening to Jay and Gandhi talk about tiers in whatever the TMNT fighting game was. I was in a pretty shitty mood after having to listen to a lecture from my parents just as I was packing my bags for the tournament about life and "you can't do tournaments forever" and blah blah blah so I didn't really care about TMNT. We finally make it to York U and it already had some folks there early, a good sign.

We start sign ups for the CvS2 Team Tournament and I get my first freak out.

WHERE'S MATT?!

Gerjay, Matt and I were supposed to form Team Armed For Battle as per usual but Matt was nowhere to be found and his cell phone was off. There was nobody else Gerjay and I wanted to team with that wasn't already taken so it wasn't looking good. We went to lunch and Gerjay calls Matt only to find out he's not coming. Well that's just fucking great. We start going over who's left and then Gandhi mentions that Jeff (Ack) plays CvS2 and while he's still got a long way to go, he's decent enough. We see Jeff at the ATM, off him the last spot and he takes it. DONE! Gerjay takes a look at my shirt and creates Team Unleashed Fury (T.U.F.) on the spot.

We get back and do more sign ups. They want to scrap MvC2 completely because there aren't enough players to pull it off. Well I say "FUCK THAT" and tell Bryan we're doing 80/20 and $2. I take about 10 minutes and pull in 17 players for Marvel. As I was telling Bryan, they key to pulling people into the tournament is to tell them to pay you instead of asking. They get so confused that they just do it before they realize what's happening. That and it's $2 so who gives a fuck.

HEEEEERE WE GO!

CAPCOM VS SNK 2 TEAM TOURNAMENT
Vs Team Gwai Jai (1st Round). The team consists of Crux/B4K4/Marc. Uh... we chose C Vega/Blanka(2)/Nakoruru and I didn't play a single match. I took Marvel sign ups while it was going on and that was that.

Vs Team Hammer (2nd Round). The team consists of Jimmy/Vanny/Jamie using C Cammy/Sagat/Chun Li. I think we ran Vega/Kim/Blanka(2). We knew this would be tough but nothing we couldn't handle. First game we back and forth but we took it. Second game was basically the same but Jamie got in that lvl2 Kick Super xx Helicopter Kick xx Kikosho and took it. Third game we change order to Blanka/Guile/Vega(2) and they did almost all the work and I cleaned up.

Vs Team Cocky (Winners Finals). The team consists of Wing/Eric/Roger using K Sagat/Nako/Blanka(2). You can guess how this went. Roger pretty much destroyed us two straight games with Sagat. I told the guys we're switching order to Blanka/Vega/Kim and the last match was a hell of a lot better than the first two. Gerjay took out Roger. Jeff took most of Wing. I finished Wing and played Eric down to the wire but he got me in a trap and I got lvl3 Supered.

Vs Team You Owe Me $2.50 (Losers Finals). The team consists of Bry/Kin/Jason using A Sagat/Todo/Blanka(2). We ran Vega/Kim/Blanka(2). This entire set followed a basic formula. Bryan would take out Jeff. I'd take out Bryan and Kin. Gerjay beats Jason. We took two straight and then they beat us the third match. I switched the team up and ran Guile/Vega/Blanka(2) and this match wasn't even close. Jeff took out Bryan. I ran down Kin and took 3/4 of Jason and Gerjay finished. Jeff's Vega had nothing on Bryan and it was putting us in a hole every match so this was better.

There were no Grand Finals. It would have been a waste of time and money so we took our entry fee back and they took the rest. Good tournament.

MARVEL VS CAPCOM 2
Vs Jamie (2nd Round). Everyone got a bye except Angry Black vs Cruxay. Anyway, I think Jamie used Rogue/Cable/Capcom and I used my usual team. I took it two straight. Light Punch sucked on my side and I couldn't dash or Tri Jump. Not a good sign.

Vs Eric (3rd Round). He used Ryu/Magneto/Psylocke. First match was Magneto rape. Second match was a lot more even and I make a big comeback with Capcom but at Super Psy Blade. Bry tells me afterwards if I'd push blocked - Corrider xx Captain Sword it'd have been over.

Vs Rey (4th Round - Losers Bracket). Rey used Team Arcade Kid IIRC though it may have been MSP. In any case, this was a tight set and went back and forth the entire time. I think the last match I took out his Magneto very early and then ran away for the rest of it.

Vs Kin (5th Round - Losers Bracket). Kin runs MST in the first game and I took that without much trouble. Second game he switches to Amingo/Storm/Tron and it was trouble. I put in Cable first to keep his Amingo away and it worked great until I finally got caught in the corner and rushed down for free. Fucking Tron assist is garbage. Third match was tight. We were even with time running out. I called Capcom for cover and went to Hail Storm but Kin did it first and both my Storm and Capcom got raped. GGPO.

THE RATIO 4 CHALLENGE
Luck of the draw put me against Jimmy (A Athena).

Vs Jimmy (1st Round). I used C Vega. This was basically me trying to close the gap so he couldn't use that broken C.HP and it worked after eating a few shots to figure out my range. The end was never in doubt.

Vs Rey (2nd Round). He uses K Maki. Good match with Rey taking an early lead after smacking me with 720. I make the big comeback and then the timer is running out (a theme for the entire tournament). He goes for "Stupid Damage" and I manage to block but I didn't know the last hit was overhead. He gets in the hit as the clock hits zero. SON OF A BITCH!

Vs Gerjay (3rd Round - Losers Bracket). I use the Gordon defense for the first half and build the lead. Gerjay manages to get in, CC's me for most of my life and I couldn't do enough damage in time. So much for that.

OK with that out of the way...

I know it was my idea so people may think I'm just trying to pimp my own shit but The Ratio 4 Challenge was the best tournament of the night. This came off exactly like I was hoping it would. Everyone felt like they were in a pressure cooker. You have to get the lead or you're outright fucked because you simply don't have the time to turtle and build meter. The selection process was nutty too becasue you'd pull out a name like Wing or Roger and then everyone kind of gasps for a second waiting for that next name to be called. I'm going to put the entire tournament online in one file. The whole thing (26 Entrants) took 56 minutes of actual game time and maybe an hour and 1/2 total. As long as everyone sticks around, the tournament flows easily. If you check the results page, you see the winner was completely unexpected (props to you Jamie) and I'm glad to see it. It was a great time and I know for sure I'll be using it again at T6.

Noodleman (A Hibiki/Bison/Blanka) defeated me (C Guile/Kim/Vega) 2 - 0 to retake the Brampton CvS2 Title. Is is his second reign as champ. My reign ends after 22 days.

With that out of the way, I probably played some of the worst CvS2 ever today. I completely abandoned the proper way to fight Blanka with Vega and got demolished not just in challenge but in casual as well. I guess my head just wasn't in it today. GG's to Jason, who's C Ryu was a bitch to deal with.

So I got there crazy early so we could talk about T6 and then Marc was busy with actual work and couldn't be bothered to go over the tournament. WELL THAT'S JUST FINE! Anyway I played some GGXX and actually got a win streak in 3rd Strike (you know there's only scrubs in the afternoon when I have a win streak with Ken). I moved over to CvS2 and played for a while with Nako/Chun/Vega(2).

HEY IT'S FOB CHANG!

HEY IT'S ROGER!

So I had a seven or eight game streak going until Fob Chang smokes me with his fucking stupid annoying Chang and I wander around. I think I tried to knock off Roger's team four or five times and always had to make the OCC comeback with Vega and then blow my lead because his Sagat rushdown is too good.

So the place starts filling up (a lot more than I was expecting) and I watch Gordon lose $10 to Eric in GGXX bets (ERIC YOU OWE ME $2 YOU PUNK!) and then we had what would have been my highlight of the night if I didn't place well in the tournies.

JONSTAR VS JIGGABRY $$$ MATCH!

Jon showed up and Gordon is all "Jon could fucking smoke anyone in Marvel" so of course I shot back that Jiggabry holds it down. $5 2/3 falls... and I taped over the footage. OH DEAR GOD SHOOT ME NOW! Bryan won the match so of course I talk shit on Gordon and HE BETS ME AGAIN! $5 3/5 falls... and I taped over that too (it was all together). BRYAN WINS AGAIN! SOMEONE PAY ME MY MONEY! Gordon's got $10 to his name, nevermind to pay me so I let him off the hook until next Friday when I come back for the weekly. Someone tell Jon to practice up.

We finally do sign ups. Roger & Eric are nowhere to be found, which is always a good thing for everyone else.

MARVEL VS CAPCOM 2

Vs Coveguy (1st Round): I didn't have to play Bryan or Gerjay so life is good. I didn't even know Marc played Marvel until earlier in the afternoon. 1st game he took a big lead and I think I made the comeback with Cable. 2nd game I dominated with Storm runaway and then Cable cleanup.

Vs Matt (2nd Round): And the bus stops here. I can't fight Magneto worth a damn and Matt knows it so despite playing crazy reckless, he beat the shit out of me the first game. Second game I run away and pick away at Magneto until he has to DHC to Sent. I get in Cable and actually did a good job of taking his team down but then he got Mags back in and I did. I HATE MAGNETO!

STREET FIGHTER III: 3RD STRIKE

Vs Coveguy (1st Round): I think we were supposed to have me for Marc in 3S and me vs Marc in CvS2 but the latter didn't pan out. Anyway, I use Ken and Ben tries to coach me but I don't listen to his "build meter" advice at all and stand there like a jackass. Marc destroys me. 2nd game I switch to Akuma and I'm scrubby as fuck but at least I'm comfortable. Air Fireballs and throws abound and I take it. Third game I get trapped in the corner both rounds and it's GGPO.

CAPCOM VS SNK 2
Vs Ben (2nd Round): Ben got to play Marc in the 1st round as a late entrant. Marc is all "BEN PLAYS THIS GAME AND LIED TO ME! KILL HIM JUSTIN! KIIIIIILL!" Alright then. Uh... I nearly OCV'd him with Kim the first game. Second game I got stupid cocky until I realized I was about to die and brought the goods with Vega.

Vs Jay (Quarter Finals): Fighting Jay is basically a 50/50 bet. We both know the first two characters don't matter because it always comes down to his Blanka vs my Kim/Vega. All three games went the same way, the only difference is I managed to barely win this time around.

Vs Ian (Semi Finals): Speaking of situations that never change, we have the never ending series of matches vs Ian that I can't win. Both matches went the same way. I got the lead with Vega. He made the comeback with Rugal. We end up with even Bison vs Kim and Ian wins by the skin of his teeth (like 5% health if that) both games.

Vs Wing (3rd Place): Gerjay beat Wing to make the finals so we had to figure out 3rd. I held it down just fine until his Nako came in and it was rush down rape. I mean this is some of the worst CvS2 I've played in ages with Wing just shredding me to pieces. I watched the footage this morning and kept yelling "ALPHA COUNTER" but you just don't think right with those little feet and little sword in your face non stop. Wing destroyed me both games.

RATIO 4 CHALLENGE - C Kim

Vs Jiggabry (2nd Round): I got the first bye. Bryan uses K Sagat and I know how to work this matchup from playing him at the York U team tournament. I didn't stray from that plan at all with C.U.R.T. setting up Step Kicks the whole way. I had a good lead and ran away and Bryan actually could have won when he was raged and hit the C.HP but no super came out and that was that.

Vs Matt (3rd Round): Matt uses K Sagat as well. Basically the same formula but slightly more patient as Matt is too random for me to figure out. I just picked away at him little by little and let the time run out.

Vs Gerjay (Winners Finals): Gerjay uses A Blanka and I got to test a theory about RC Electricity as I'd create setups where he'd wake up RC Electricity but I'd super jump and step kick him in his face. yep, worked like a charm. He ate like five of these and it was all I needed to take the match.

Vs Gerjay (Grand Finals): Gerjay adapted to the step kick trick and it was GGPO as Kim can't find RC Blanka (at least for now) and he took me down both sets without much trouble.

HIGHLIGHTS:

Marc handing me tokens as a bribe to stop harassing him. :party:

Me literally praying that Bryan and Matt don't smoke their spliff in my car :crybaby:

Passing by CvS2 and wondering how Noodleman kept winning with C Ryu/Todo/Blanka(2) :confused:
