Calgary weekly Saturday SF event @ the cove

The usual Saturday night event is back starting this coming Saturday Jan8th, 2005 at 5pm to closing 1am in the cove.

Let's have a warm up night before we continue on with the mini tourneys.

The only reason that the cove closed at 11pm yesterday was that we still considered it as holiday since University classes had not begun yet. They will get back to the usaul 1am closing time for the Saturdays following.

It wasn't that bad, considering the amount of games we got to play last night. My hands and shoulders hurt like crazy after playing like too many games. Too much practice isn't that good either.

I am turning my attention to Tekken Tag these days, hopefully I will find a game that I can be the best at finally!!!! :tup:

I should be a Tekken player since my user name is a Tekken character in the first place, even though I am stupid enough to spell it wrong. :wow:

BTW, this should be confirmed... Tekken 5 will finally be available at the cove on Tuesday Jan11th for those who are interested. :pleased:

My thoughts on Tekken 5:

1. better graphics, which is a must for all new series games.
2. If you like Tekken 3, then you will love Tekken 5.
3. If you like Tekken Tag, then you will still like Tekken Tag better.
4. Good story line, if you are into that.
5. I can see alot of cheap tatics bound to come.

Anyhow, yes each system will need a broadband adapter. Plus we'll need a hub and some lan cables. WHich is easy to come by

I have access to 1 portablish TV, 24" or something as well as another if neccessary... Just need a place and time

Simply because it is minus 30 degrees out there, with no underground parking spot available due to rich 1st year students taking all of them.

I usually drop by Tuesday and Thursday early, or Wednesday around 3:30pm.

Guys, if you want to see some crazy intense matches in Tekken, check Tekken.net :wow: :tup: :clap: ... check out the Korean National Tournament, and you will be impressed to say the very least.

It takes you two minutes at most to create an user name, and then you can get the videos. I have to tell you that until the moment I watched those videos, I still had doubt as to how far can this game goes, but shit those stuff were fucking crazy to say the least!!!!!! :wow: :wow: :wow: It makes mvc2 looks like a urban zone going 50km/h, and they were on deerfoot. Combos were insane in a 3d game style.

I never thought I really would switch to a 3d game, but now I am switching for sure... crazy Koreans play that game so well.

Just do yourself a favor, check out a few of those, and don't miss the one with R3: Mokusungin (RAV) vs Loc (LNG), and they said his (LNG the girl) is not even the best yet!!!! :tup:


2d games are slow compare to that shit, but I will still play with you guys in any SF. Fuck, I can't believe I say this, but Tekken 5 is the shit!!! :wow:

Seriously, check out those Raven and Ling's matches, so intense and makes me want to learn Raven as well. Ling is still the best though.

played regent... used mag/sent/cyc and got ocv'd the first game (this is because regent "doesn't play marvel" (sent/mag/capcom) so i'm like wtf... fuck this shit... back to basics... storm/cable/doom and regent loses the next 2 so he used sent/mag/cyc to counter... so ray wins 2-1

arnie somehow eliminates shane from the winners bracket and i play him in the semis. (t-bonne killed shanes psylcoke, and that was the end...and ken is too good)

i play arnie. win 3-0 most disappointing "epic" battle between me and arnie in ages... i was using mag/sent/cyc vs ken/sent/tbonne/ cable/sent/ironman

1. throughout our match, every time Ray got thrown, you heard these words "WTF!!!"
2. then few seconds later, when Ian hit Ray with mp,hp,hadokenXXsuper, you heard these words "WTF!!!"

ian: of course. i'd parry any random supers anytime. erim knows first hand about trying to chip Long to death with ibuki's supers...cuz Long just parries them.

mak's supers are easy to parry. pretty slow. it's like parrying akuma's red fireball+2 more hits. easy operation. it'll probably surprise me first time though. but it's not too tricky. i know a couple stupid tricks that go with mak's sa2. so yeah, i know what you gonan do....

finally, sonson is godly. all sentinels are going down to my monkey. but would someone please.....tell me how to use omega red and sentinel....i know i'm 5 yrs late but sonson, omega, sent is my first mvc2 team. haven't beat 3 stage of the game yet, but i'm coming.

First of all, you totally underestimated a fucking Sentinel with Anti-air assist... From my previous experience of being the victim to a Sentinel.. I can honestly tell you that unless your Sonson can somehow do an one hit kill infinite on Sentinel or you have a cable-like super, there is no shit ass way that you can kill a sentinel. You won't catch me, nor will you even hurt him at all... one simple combo of sentinel=2 to 3 of your super on him in terms of damage. :wow:

Back to 3s, the Ian's era just begun... what makes you think you can win one when my Makoto is in your way? :tup: Ohhhhh... shit! You have the tape of Moe playing, that's going to give you a huge advantage since everything I do came from Moe in the first place... HAHAHAHA.. study those tapes if you want your first 3s crown. :tup:

Tekken 5 is still the best... Garett, Raj and Lester are getting better at the game already. Garett used to be a Tekken player even before Tekken 5 came out. Oh shit!!! you haven't figure out what push-block is and you want to play some mvc2...you are the man!!! :tup:

push-block is to push your opponent away from you(approximately half the screen or less) while you are blocking the attack... done by pressing two punches while blocking. Be careful if you are accidentally push block the assist's attack instead of the main character because that will get you no where but to the grave anyways. Especially when you play against Arnie, you must push block like there is no tomorrow!!! :wow:

Just don't try parrying too much... only parry when they get predictable! Remember in 3rd strike, there is no guard crush like in cvs2, so you can block all day as long as you don't get thrown.

LOL. Yeah. For those of you who weren't there, this was what happened in the CvS2 final. I just won the 1st set of grand finals. Ian just won 1st game of 2nd set. In the 2nd game of the last set, I had no life with Blanka against Ian's bison. I managed to score a knockdown in the corner. Dashed in, RC electricity, Ian does counter attack. Counter attack trades with my electricity, however since you cannot kill a character with a counter-attack, my blanka lives at the end of the round and Bison gets electrocuted and loses.

CvS2 is too long of a game.

We will have two sperate leagues, the intermediate and the advance.. and we will have two sperate brackets, and winner of each bracket will meet in the grand finals. This way the intermediate level players will actually have some fun in the tournament.

I am trying to make this more exciting and enjoyable... I can't wait to see Ray standing on a stool holding up the mvc2 championship belt and scream!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :clap:

You are not the champ yet, until you win tomorrow... we will crown all new champions tomorrow.

If you don't defend the title at least once a month, then you are strip of the title...simple as that. When the champ is not there, then we will have a mini tourney to determine a #1 contender. whom will get a refund of entry fee for that week.

you still have a chance for rebate include 10wins or lucky draw for that week.

We crowned two Calgary champions tonight(Top4 players match), Hopefully we will have the title belts ready before the end of February. :tup:

CVS2- Garett!!!!(N-bison/rugal/vega :clap: ). He substituted for the absence of Byron.V.

Byron.L defeated Ian first round.(which also makes Byron.L the winner of last week mini cvs2 tourney)
Garett defeated Ray first round.
Ian defeated Ray next, then Garett defeated Byron.L
Byron then defeated Ian.
And finally, Garett defeated Byron.L to be crown the current Calgary CVS2 champion. His first title defense will be against Byron.V. Then I think we should give Eric.Wu a special challenge match with the winner of the Garett vs Byron.V match, for Eric's level of improvement over the last month. :tup:

We also had the result of Team UC vs Team everyone other than UC. 6 on 6 elimination style. Team UC(in proper order)=Long, Steve Yuen, Garett, Eric Wu, Ian, Ray) Team everyone other than UC=(Johnson, Mark, Shane H-town, Brett H-town, Corey, Byron.L)

1st match... Long vs Johnson... for goodness sake, I still can't figure out how you two could end in a time over draw game... both eliminated!!! :wow: :wow: :clap: TOO GOOD!!!!

Then from there on, Shane(shanelighting) dominated all members of Team UC like mad. Finally, Raymond stepped in and destroyed everyone in Team everyone other than UC and took Team UC to victory.

First, T5 can be unpredictable sometimes. Shane is good at T5, just Brett is better.

2. RC psycho crusher sometimes will still get hit by RC electricity, bison's legs sometimes can't go through blanka fast enough before the RC effect disappears.

You lost to me a total of 3 matches on Saturday, just one of those I was using something with Magneto instead of Dhalism. :encore:
