Is Yang's SA1 any good? I try to use it straight up to punish after whiffed attacks, and also juggle people with it if I connect with Yang's launcher (close s. forward).
I've also used it once in a command throw combo -- command throw, c. mk --> SA1, 9 hits for like almost full damage. I guess you can also parry, then c. mk --> SA1.
Of course I'm teh suck with Yang, so is SA1 feasible for higher level play against good peeps who use tourney-caliber characters like the Shotos, Chun, Yun, Dudley, Urien, etc?

SA2 and SA3 are pretty much preferred.
SA2 in itself isn't so good for it's damage, but you get 2 long stock meters, so you can pull out a lot of ex mantis slashes that can easily do more damage than SA1.
SA3 is used for pressuring your opponent and doing crossup unblockables.

It has high amount of invulnerable frames but it also hits slow. Alot of pokes will recover before it's able to hit. Small frame advantage on block is kinda safe but that's if it's not parried. Overall, relying on the super for a win may get you a few, but people will be looking to bait that super when you have it. That leaves the rest of your game less damaging than SA2(ex slashes) or with less pressure (SA3).
The super straight out beats alot of stuff(Gigas breaker & magnetic storm), Yang and Ryu pass through each other(Shin Shoryuken, though Sean's super beats Raishin).
It really comes down to SA2 improves Yang's overall game, SA1 improves Yang's pressure game against some chars, and SA3 is a big damage easy to block/parry super. At a higher level of play or against someone that understands SA1's weakness, if you can't control the flow of the match, SA1 won't save you while the other 2 SA's will let you control the match more through stun and damage off a st short / cr short xx ex slash > knockdown or through massive pressure from SA3.

Thanks guys. I know this is a little OT, but how do you use Yangs dive kick, I have a hard time getting the move to come out and when it does I can't combo into s. strong -> mantis slash -- its too slow and doesn't combo right.

use target combo mk xx divekick if u want to combo
most of the time i whiff the divekick to land a command grab, if i choose to dive kick at all. it's hard, but not impossible, to do divekick > cr.short, EX slashes but it's hard to confirm so use with caution.
incase u didn't know how to do the SA3 "unblockable" u start with HK divekick, cr.strong, cr. fierce and then repeat.
on big characters u need to have him knocked down first, but on oro/yun kinda chars you can probably s.jump and start from the crossover divekick.
