I'm not even that concerned about the question of Zangief's gayness (since I've gone back to having to find a source that says it directly, although I've been told that 'there's no mistaking it' when you look at his SFZ3 Japanese win-quotes). What makes me wonder about this ending is the fact that his official dislike directly says "Beautiful Young Women" which this ending contradicts. And 'Beautiful Young Women' is another translation that people have combed with a fine-toothed comb (Udon included) to make sure it really DOES mean beautiful young women and not something else...

Does anyone here believe that C.o.J. would allow a ending to a character of theirs that they would not agree with? Even in the Japanese release? Versus or dreammatch games have always been used to explore the characters more. This recent ending obviously tells us more of what Zangief is doing, most likely after SFII.

If this isn't so, then why do you suppose a game where Morrigan and Zangief mash it out, is supposed to tell something about a character while another ending is totally meaningless...

Firstly, I think SpiderMan is incorrect (but close).
CoJ originally had Poison as a girl, CoA didn't like this (they didn't want people hitting girls in FF). CoJ were very lazy so they said 'fine, Poison is really a man who has had a sex change - so now you can say that players are beating up trannys rather than women'. This allowed them to get away with not doing more sprites. CoA were still not happy and hence made Billy and Sid to replace Poison and Roxy. This is all factual and the real reason why Poison is classified as originally being male. Not open to debate.

As for the Eagle. The ONLY thing we have to suggest Eagle is gay, are the cross-over/whatif games. There was nothing to suggest anything about his sexuallity in SF1 which is the only game he appeared in that is definately canon. If you do not accept anything in a cross-over/whatif game to be canon then there is no reason to call Eagle gay at all. Even if you do take these games as canon (or even part of these games as canon), it is only a conjecture based on quotes and the fact he looks like lead singer of Queen, Freddy Mercury.
I personally think he is gay, but I wouldn't say this was definatly canon for the reasons outlined above. So believe what you want, the answer depends on what sources you are willing to accept.

With Zangief, it is true that he 'dislikes pretty women' (FACT). Again take this as you will. It doesn't catagorically say he dislikes all women, or that he likes guys for that matter. I am personally unconvinced that the 'Geif is gay. I wouldn't have any problem with it if it were true, but the case is simply not convincing enough for me. If you disagree, then fine. You are entitled to think what you want, but there is no fact pointing to him being gay, only conjectures.

I hope this ends this 'age old' debate of the above 3 characters sexuality. No other Street Fighter characters are currently rumoured to be gay.

The way I see it, Eagle's officially STATED sexuality doesn't really matter (and may not even exist) since Eagle never really had much of a storyline in the first place. Since there's no official statement (Why would there be? He didn't even become a 'REAL' character until CVS2 anyways and by then, the Street Fighter canon storyline was 'finished' so to speak), I guess the most you can say is "He's either gay or Capcom is having fun making him look gay." So... I guess that's my policy on that.

Until I find official confirmation that Zangief is gay, I think that'll be my policy for Zangief too. Because like I said, supposedly Zangief's SFZ3 win quotes (which alas were never translated) imply it very heavily too.

Poison is definately a man though. That issue has been discussed to death and we've gotten more than enough confirmations and official sources (which don't even require understanding of Japanese to see the male symbol) regarding it that anyone who still disbelieves that either is new (since it takes a while to digest) or is in heavy denial.
